Devlin greets Jaecyn with a grin.
"If it is to be our end, we shall give them such an end."
He looks toward CZ-9.
"We`ll need a volunteer to lead the Younglings into the caverns, if the Mandalorians do come; but only if they come."

With an expression of concern and a slight bout of disappointment that Devlin was even considering "If it is to be our end." He knew that a possibility did exist for a sincere defeat, but acknowledging it before the fact would make it just that, a fact. Jaecyn was intent on it being an victory, if there was a battle to be fought.
I will not accept such an end, you know this. I also will not put it past them to try to exterminate all Force users. Try as they might, they could never be rid of us. Not all of us, at any rate.
Jaecyn knew it was pointless to pontificate on the technology or training of the ODF, or of the culture as a whole. He'd be preaching to the choir, so to speak. He also knew that the others were well enough aware that, even on the brink of extinction, with as few as can be counted on one hand, the Jedi always managed to survive, recover, and regain. He was confident that he and his would put up a good fight and survive. As ever, though, not so much to dismiss the need to be wary and make the preparations.
The students will be taken somewhere safe, though as a precaution, I think that even you should not know where. I do not doubt your desire to keep the children safe, or the effort you would expend to do so, but these frakking mandies do have a rather annoying proficiency for being painful at times, if you get my meaning.
The Ysanna were invariably good at making moves absent notice of even the more astute. Not perfect, for certain, but very, very good at it. Once the calls were made, all the proper arrangements would be made, in ways that would slip past all but the most informed of observations. A civilization long survived by making stealth and hunting part of its ways should, and many could argue "would," have a matter such as this down easily.

"Peace, my friend."
Devlin knew well Jaecyn's resolve regarding Ossus.
He crosses his arms over his chest.
"If the Mandalorians come for the Ysanna, I will fight alongside them."
He smiles at Riddick's suggestion that even he not know where the students travel.
He liked to know where they were. Perhaps he was a bit overprotective, though.
"If you think it best, I will not argue. Your people are experienced in many things I am not. If the Ysanna pledge to keep the students safe, I am satisfied."
He stares out the window and into the sky as clouds covered the sun and darkened the light entering the Library.
"I have a bad feeling about this."

"Peace, my friend."Devlin knew well Jaecyn's resolve regarding Ossus. He crosses his arms over his chest."If the Mandalorians come for the Ysanna, I will fight alongside them."He smiles at Riddick's suggestion that even he not know where the students travel. He liked to know where they were. If the Ysanna pledge to keep the students safe, I am satisfied."He stares out the window and into the sky as clouds covered the sun and darkened the light entering the Library."I have a bad feeling about this." I, however, do not. Riddick spoke with an expression of reassuring serious, followed by a cock of his eyebrow suggesting that Devlin shouldn't either, that all will be well. Riddick had suggested that Devlin not know every step of the student's paths, knowing that if he did know, it may very well be their downfall as well as his own. Riddick himself didn't even plan on knowing every where they went, for the same reason. He had taken a decent pause before sharing a small bit of wisdom that he had passed down from his parents, hoping that Devlin would see in it the same wisdom Riddick did, in the case at the least. There was an old fortress, many centuries ago, protected by a wall with maxims written on it. One of them read that "matters of great concern should be treated lightly." A passing sage saw this and commented that "matters of small concern should be treated seriously." Among one's affairs there should not be more than two or three matters of what one could call great concern. If these are deliberated upon during ordinary times, they can be understood. Thinking about things previously and then handling them lightly when the time comes is what this is all about. To face an event and solve it lightly is difficult if you are not resolved beforehand, and there will always be uncertainty in hitting your mark. However, if the foundation is laid previously, you can think of the saying, “Matters of great concern should be treated lightly,” as your own basis for action.
This was an old teaching taught to me by my parents, before they finally found rest in the Force, and their parents before them. We face matters of great concern, but if we see the details of them, then these matters will unfold in ways that shall not trouble us, and there will be no bad feelings to have. The students are in good hands and will be fine, and we will prevail.

Devlin turns to Riddick and smiles.
"There is truth to that."
He rubs his chin.
"Still, there is something weighing on me. The Force is trying to tell me something. I've sensed a gathering gloom since before news of Yavin reached us."
I might turn out to be nothing. It could just be an overarching feeling regarding the war. Still, he felt remiss not airing his feelings. Not only because it would be dishonest; but he felt those near him could provide valued insight...or at least hoped they could.
"There is more to Yavin's attack than is readily apparent."

Nel leaned back in her seat, rubbing the bridge of her nose with one hand as she closed her eyes. A book lay in front of her on the table as she draped an arm across her middle. She had gone over this book multiple times over the time she had been here at the Praxeum, and it was honestly a favorite of hers; though, the day's events had the adolescent frustrated and wondering where she was once more going wrong with her studies. Blue eyes opened as she once more leaned forward, the hand that had massaged the tension from her head resting beside the page as she resumed her reading. The Zabrak was tired - that much was obvious in the sag of her shoulders. The simple hilt of a lightsaber hung at her hip on the left side, and as she read, her lips moved as she read over the passage she had read over so many times before.
Discipline. Self-control. These were the keys... A surge of frustration climbed its way from her belly, and a snarl marked her face before she slammed the book shut with more force then she had intended. She winced, warily casting a look around for anyone that might have heard. Nel sighed when she didn't immediately see anyone, resting her head on the cool material of the table she sat at. Where was she going wrong?

Joruun looked up from the book that he had been studying as he heard the sound of a book being slammed shut in frustration, glancing about in search of the source. Noticing Nel resting her head against the table and feeling the waves of frustration which flowed from her, he rose and walked over to where she sat before sliding into the chair next to her.
"Is everything alright Nel?"
The young Miraluka was well aware of her struggles with her studies when it came to the Force and had always tried to help her as best as he could. None the less she continued to struggle, and while Joruun genuinely cared about her he found it difficult to empathize with her since he had always done so well.
"Are you having trouble with something; Whatever it is perhaps I can help?"
He smiled warmly at her, hoping that he could help her in some way.

The Zabrak looked up and over towards the sound of feet approaching, and nodded her acknowledgement to her long time friend. Of course, after the motion, she realized her error, but she said nothing about it, simply listening as he spoke. Her shoulders lifted and lowered in a shrug before she finally spoke. "It's the same issues as I always have, it seems. I have read this book more than a dozen times and though the wisdom is the same, my mind is not every time."
She paused as the words settled in, and she swallowed to stifle the fluttering in her stomach as she once more glanced to him. The man had always been kind to her, and his kindness softened the edges of her anger and frustration. Compassion. An interesting concept when one thought about it, but it was still a concept that she much appreciated. "I am trying to figure out where I am going wrong with this one single technique I have always had problems with. The telepathy that those stronger in the Force have no problem doing." An edge of bitterness entered her tone, no matter how hard she tried to hide it from the other present.

Joruun thought for several moments, trying to think of a way to help his friend; Telepathy had come relatively easy to him once he had learned the underlying basics that she had studied time and time again, and all he could think of was to try some actual practice.
"Do you think trying some actual practice might help Nel? I mean, with all of the reading you've done perhaps you just need to actually try it and maybe you'll be able to get it this time."
Even as he suggested it Joruun knew that it was a rather foolish suggestion; he hated to admit it but he really didn't know what to tell her. She had been forced to fight for every technique she managed to learn thus far, while he had breezed through most without difficulty, and he really couldn't blame her for the bitterness which laced her voice. He really couldn't relate to her struggle, and thus while he could console and comfort his Zabrak friend there often wasn't much that he could do to actually aid in her studies.
"What do you say; want to give it a shot?"

Warily, Nel glanced at the Miraluka at his offer, and there would be a distinct impression of her lifting her eyebrow at him. She was considering it. Having a partner would be useful in practicing, as Telepathy was a two person act, yes. However, she also knew that Joruun was an excellent student, with a great amount of skill at what she could only dream of doing. He could easily show her up (which wasn't that uncommon), but she trusted him not to gloat about it. Still, something nagged at her about the situation, and to give herself more time to think, she looked back at the page. Refusal would be rude, and her determination gnawed at her to try and master this. Finally, she nodded to him. "May as well try it, Joruun."
She turned to him in her seat, a grin slowly spreading over her pale features as she did so. "Where do we start?"

Struggling to think of a good place to start, seeing as the standard method had clearly not been working before, Joruun eventually came upon a possible option. Turning his chair so that he was facing the Nel, the Miralukan Padewan expanded his sphere of influence out to the Zabrak, touching her mind with the Force as he spoke in her mind.
"I am going to establish a telepathic connection, and once that connection is established I want you to try and speak to me through that connection. I'm thinking that perhaps if we can get the communication part down maybe the connection will come more easily..."
He didn't sound terribly confident, but at least it was an idea.
"Go ahead Nel; give it a try."

The woman met his gaze, and then, as she concentrated, her eyes lost some of their focus as she sensed for that connection. It didn't take her long to find it, and she was quick to tap into it. Despite all her shortcomings (real or perceived), she was quick. For a long moment, the Zabrak studied the link, the connection between them; even now, she marveled at the power of the Force. Her foot fidgeted against the side of the chair, before she anchored herself by wrapping her leg around the chair's own leg. Slowly, she reached out, trying to form words, or images. Something.
"How... is this...?"
It was weak, almost akin to a far off shout, but the message had been clear enough when her eyes focused again. She had the connection. She had the knowledge, but did she have the ability to use it successfully? Well, as weak as it was, she just proved to herself that yes, yes she did have the capability to do it. Like everything else, though, Nel needed practice. Studying this and that could only get her so far. This experience helped. Her smile widened more as she realized her success, and her eyes sparkled.

Joruun smiled widely as Nel's words echoed faintly across their shared connection. It may have been only a tiny bit of progress, but it was progress none the less. Now, if only he could get her communicating more easily. Thinking for a moment to try and find a way to make her telepathy stronger, he eventually had an idea.
"That's great Nel! Now try saying the words as you think them; maybe that will make your telepathy come through stronger."
The Miralukan Padewan wasn't really sure if he was giving her good advice or not, but it seemed to be working so far and thus he didn't see any harm in continuing along this line of thought. Besides, the practice served as a good distraction from the looming threat of the Mando'ade crusade which had already hit Yavin and which could potentially hit Ossus soon depending on which target they chose next. Trying not to think about the crusade too much, Joruun focused instead on what he and Nel were working on.

The woman's eyes met his, and once more, she lifted her eyebrow ridge. Facial hair was not very common on Zabrak, and that included eyebrows. Vanity had never been a strong point for her, and so she never bothered to draw them in on her person. Saying the words out loud defeated the purpose of Telepathy, didn't it? Either way, she had nothing else to go on. What could it hurt? Slowly, she focused on that connection again. Thank the Force Joruun was here to help her out, even if he was by far the most able of other students she had encountered. That was her opinion though. Her lips began to move as she tried to strengthen her connection, her voice within her own mind and his.
"What about... now?" It was stronger then before, but not quite as clear as his own voice in her own mind. She smiled at her own progress.

Joruun nodded with a smile; it felt good to be able to help Nel, even if only a little.
"Better, although there is definitely room for improvement. With some practice though hopefully you'll be able to get it down. Want to try making the initial connection yourself now?"
Withdrawing from her mind he broke the connection that they had been communicating through, although he left his mind open for her to try and connect with. He was hopeful that this would work; he hated seeing her struggling to learn something like this, and he had already seen the female Zabrak go through the ordeal many times as they had grown; at least she seemed to pick up the lightsabre training well.

The disconnection left her blinking, and she bit her lip nervously. Could she do it? Pride wouldn't let her say otherwise, and so, the female concentrated, trying to feel for that which she struggled most with: the Force. A trickle of it she could feel in her system as she tried and tried to make that connection. Tried to initiate that which Joruun had done with ease. Such frustrating ease. The tenuous connection formed between herself and him mentally, but then... Like a rubber band improperly positioned to send flying, it slammed back at her as the connection broke. Nel winced slightly, rubbing once more at the bridge of her nose as she tried to soothe away the tension there. "Kriff."
Where had she gone wrong? She had done as the books said, and when it came to talking with others, she had proven she could do that. Not as confidently as others, granted, but she had succeeded in that. When it came to the forming the connection itself, it recoiled on her. Her brows furrowed as her fingers stilled, her mind racing with what could have gone wrong and what she could do to fix it. More data to go over, more reading to be done. Her stomach twisted in on itself in anxiety and anger at her once more failure. "Kriff..."

Meanwhile: Outside the Library
Dante and his convoy had made their way from the landing bays to the library's main entrance.
"My my my..." The Jedi breathed, taking in the archaic edifice before him. In all his years he'd never been here, ever. It made the Jedi wonder what had taken him so long to come to this place? But as soon as the question formed, he shrugged it away, concentrating on the two men standing sentinel outside of the formidable gates before him. They looked to be armed, yet passive to his advance.
"I hope control warned you men of my arrival..." Dante began, as the guards started towards him. "Or at least what my mission is?"
There was no answer, and the Jedi's eyebrow raised slightly. He signaled to the convoy to stop, with a raised hand, before addressing the sentries only several feet before him. "I'm Jedi Knight Dante Calibar, and I've not come from the battle at Yavin to be stopped by my own. Now let me pass, so I may preserve this knowledge for future generations...or, maybe, you can take this matter up with Master Dewe? Either way, I will be allowed in."

Joruun's smile faded as Nel failed to make the connection that she sought, sighing softly in disappointment as he momentarily felt the connection form before it snapped; she had been doing so well up until that point, and now she had hit another barrier. Even if she kept her body language well in check the Miralukan Padewan could see the Force swirling about her, betraying her aggravation and frustration. Reaching over, he rested one hand atop her own in a comforting gesture as he smiled reassuringly.
"It's alright Nel; I know that you'll get it eventually. You've just got to keep practicing. Why don't we take a break; want to grab some food or something?"
Moving to stand, he glanced over to the entrance and paused as he noticed that something was going on. Curious, he glanced back down to Nel, his skin-covered, eyeless sockets concealed beneath his mask. He didn't see any sign of the Dark Side, so it clearly wasn't a Sith attack or anything like that; Perhaps whatever this was would serve as a good distraction for her.
"Hey, it looks like something's happening over at the library entrance; let's go check it out."
Taking the Zabrak's hand, Joruun gently pulled her to her feet and led the pair over to where Lord Jud'dayus was speaking with the guards, his eyebrows raising when he overheard that "Dante" had come from the Battle of Yavin; He hoped that this did not mean that the Praxeum there had fallen, especially since that would mean that there was a good chance of the Ossus Praxeum being the Mando'ade's next target. His concern evident, he held his tongue for the time being as he silently observed "Dante's" conversation with the guards, curious what this "Jedi Knight" was doing in the library if Yavin had indeed fallen rather than wherever Master Dewe was.

Her scowl deepened for a moment as she listened, her thoughts racing and pondering what she could do differently to ensure success. Internally, though, she perked up at his offer of the two of them going and possibly getting food. That, on top of his hand resting on hers in assurance, led her cheeks to color, and her aggravation bled away, replaced by her own glee at his attention. She admired his strength and capabilities with the Force. That, and his kindness had won her over to some degree. He didn't boast, nor did he flaunt his abilities.
She had opened her mouth to agree, but then her attention was also drawn to the front of the Library. Her free hand ran through her hair, trying to tame it while she avoided her horns. A difficult balance, that, but she managed. She drew her lip into her mouth, chewing it a moment as she listened to the man "Dante" yell at those that stood guard. What the...? She looked up to her long time friend, then back to the door.
"Seems interesting enough." A slow smirk spread over her lips, the tension easing from her at the idea of doing something she was sure she could do well.

"We'll have to clear it."He holds his doublebladed lightsaber easily in his right hand and taps his wrist comm with his left.Nothing. No connection. Just dead air."Huh. We'll need to check this out."He nods to the other sentry."Run to the Praxeum and get clearance permission for Jedi Calibar."He smiles at the false Jedi."This won't take a moment."
