The various bills passed in the Guild of Metal smiths - under the careful eye of the planetary governor! - are finally put into motion. Rimma cities mining resources are allocated for a massive government funded mining project, to encompass a two part strike: mining resources on the ground, and the asteroid field above. To accomplish this, one of the mining outposts owned and operated by a third party mining affiliate is bought by the government, and then designated a government installation; it's large ore processing refineries would be responsible for sifting and churning through the millions of tons of ore throughout the fiscal year. The station in total consists of two sets of landing pads, set A and B respectively, ground hangar C, as well as four mooring stations/elevators for larger mining ships Set A landing strip is a set of some twenty double tiered landing pads that accept incoming ships with Ore from space; strip B is a similar double tiered landing bay of twenty that has a continual flow of bulk freighters - either landing or taking off - which ferry the ore out of the system, or to warehouses on the planet. Ground hangar C is a large cavernous openning for ground vehicles, droids, and smaller repulsorlift vehicles to come in to deposit their ore, while the mooring towers are essentially tiny space elevators (tiny being some three hundred meters tall) that ferry large amounts of cargo to the ground for processing. This facility, redesignated as vandelhelm mining control - or mining control for short, is responsible for coordinating the various mining forces (SF1, and GF1) under employ of the government, and similarly, are responsible for coordinating both droids and sentients in their day to day operations.
On the ground, we have a normal day progressing with plasma-jet drills drilling large spiral like cylinders into the earth; upon completion, teams of mining droids Mk II's walk down the spiral to mine the sides of the drilled, or the molten slag at the bottom; these droids are equipped with such items as Beamdrills, sonic hammers, mining lasers, and various other common equipment. If a particularly rich ore vein is found, Multi-Environment Mining Droid MEMD-2's are sent in two mine en masse; the total of the mined ore is loaded on cargo skiffs, and then taken to mining control. In space, a similar process occurs; surveyor ships scan nearby asteroids (nearby being asteroids that are closest to the planet itself, or pass by the orbits of Vandelhelms various moons) for rich mineral deposits, when one is found, depending on its size, either a Y-8 Mining vessel, a YM-2800 limpet ship, or an AEA-500 prospecting craft is dispatched - in total, teams of five ships, usually a mix of previously referenced ships, roam about with surveyor ships to locate ore in the asteroids. When a ship is full, it retreats to the planet, docks with a cargo barge, empties its contents, and then departs for the field once more. The cargo barge then drops down to the planet, and depending on the size load, either lands in Strip B or the mooring towers. Once ore is refined, cargo barges take the refined ore out of refinery control, into orbit, and then are ferried to the edge of the system where they are loaded onto cargo freighters...the freighters then depart for other parts of the galaxy; unless said ores are stored in the warehouse.

From the surface, an order comes in...and a thousand tones of chromium, iron, titanium, carbon, gold, silver, and assorted other lesser elements are gathered onto a large bulk freighter. After being loaded (at the new mining station no less!) the freighter detaches from the stations mooring tower, and slowly heads up into orbit.

It had been...what, a month? He had landed on the planet via his personal fighter, and locking it away in a hangar in RImma city, he had gone about the tedious process of purchasing a sand crawler. Yup. A Sand crawler. He didn't know what he had been getting into. Obtaining one of the massive land transports had required him to go through several legal restrictions, jump through hoops of varying sizes, and balance the proverbial credit on the tip of his nose. When he had revealed he was a Jedi, and none other than the infamous Deveaux, things had progressed MUCH more quickly. The idea was to turn it into a kind of mobile base for the Jedi on this planet...
He hesitated greatly to use the word "enclave" or "Praxeum"
But, rather, a mobile base. A place for meditation, rest, and coordination of operations. Towards that end he had purchased an ancient M-ETT, courtesy of Czerka surplus. Several million credits later, and he had refurbished the ancient machine up to more galactic standards...a complete refit had the inner surfaces gleaming, the ancient reactor replaced with a standard fusion generator, and gutting the machine of ore processors freed up space enormously. The outer surface he had armored, for protection, and then painted in sunshield white - to reflect heat. In red paint, the logo of the Jedi order was displayed rather prominently on the port and starboard sides of the great machine. Spare parts in the cargo bay, a vaporator assembly for water, and a triple redundant enviromental system meant the crawler was largely self sufficient...except for food of course. Stripping out the ore processors freed up space for some meditation rooms, some sparring areas, and some large spaces for training acrobatics and blaster deflection...while the top deck was turned into an observation deck under the heat resistant sails.
All in all...it was still greasy, dirty, and dusty...but it was home.

It was fortuitous for the droid and ship that as communications started, the Sand crawler was near a desolate cavern that could serve as a hiding hole for the experimental shuttle. well... to say near still meant that it was a Day's walk... or a half a day's ride on the BARC speeder that had been loaded on the shuttle. so after hiding the shuttle, putting on the additional clothing appropriate for a temple guardsman, and sealing the ship. Frore set off for the coordinates of the sandcrawler.

"No no NO!" We need to go OVER the hill, AROUND the bend, and DOWN into the canyon!"
Standing on the bridge of the...uh...well, he didn't have a name for it, the METT anyway, Dante Deveaux waved his arms about the spacious bridge at the pod of ten or so V-1 series pilot astromechs. In unison, they turned and looked at each other, before turning their domed heads back to him and setting up a raucous din of chirps and beeps. Originally designed for starship piloting and starship operations control, a new piloting module allowed them to jack in to the different systems of the METT and pilot it that way. Saved Dante having to have an actual crew...albeit, he had to fix some mechanical problems himself as a result. In all, it was a quiet ride...there were no other sentients onboard besides him, in fact. Indeed, the only things he had to deal with was this damnable pod of droids.
"Ok. Ok FINE! We'll go AROUND the hill, OVER the bend, and travel ALONGSIDE the canyon. HAPPY?!"
There was a chorus of assents from the droids, and their domes swiveled back to their respective stations. Throwing his arms up in the air, Dante started to stalk off the bridge before there was a series of chirps from V-4. Or was it V-5? Who the hell could keep them straight anyway - they all looked alike. Turning, Dante opened his mouth to shout at the droid again, but it chirped another long series of sounds at him, and he frowned.
"Wait...what? Someones approaching?"
Drawing close, he tapped a button to turn on the visual display for the droids station. He usually kept them off because it was a waste of power for a droid that could just communicate directly with the machine itself. On the screen, a small dot steadily approached the METT, and Dante frowned. Tapping a few buttons, he brought up a telemetry scan of it...the sensors unit positively identified it as a small speeder bike. Heading at a rapid pace from...where?
"Bring up long range scans. Where did he come from."
There was a whistling sound of agreement from the droid, a series of chirps as it processed, and then more data rolled across the screen. Telemetry said that a small starship had landed a long distance away, and that the speeder had departed from it. Where it had landed was unclear, only that once it touched down on the surface that it was largely shielded from scans, with the exception of some background energy emissions. Shaking his head, Dante straightened slightly and crossed his arms.
"...Bring us to a full stop. Monitor our...guests...progress. Give me a progress report every fifteen minutes, linked to my gauntlet, ok?"
There were chirps from the droids, and the usual rumbling of the METT slowly tapered off...to a low thrum, the massive machine coming to a stop in the midst of the desert. Going to his room, Dante put on his clothes, including his blast vest, and strapped his stun pistol to his thigh and his saber in its rig. Pulling his great cloak about him, he made sure his appearance was...presentable...he HAD been living alone for several months now. And then eventually made his way back up to the bridge. Hitting the comm station, he tried to hail the bike, which according to telemetry, was about ten minutes out now.
::This is the Jedi Peacekeeper Dante Deveaux, you are breaking my self imposed exile. If you have business with me, state it quickly, otherwise...leave. Be you friend or foe, it makes little difference.::

:Identity confirmed. initiating Module DMF.:
Slowing down so that he could remove his mask so that if Dante chose to look upon his unmasked face, would reveal him to look Identical to Diamonte Tuhlute.
::Greetings Dante Deveaux, I am Frore, prototype Super holographic droid. I come to render aid and bring tidings from the headmaster of the Yavin academy::
Replacing the mask I sped up to reach the location in a matter of moments.

Headmaster? Of the Yavin academy? Dante tried to remember who that was...and then cringed: it had been a good four years that the Jedi council had sentenced him to exile on Dagobah, and another six months or so that he had been on Vandelhelm. He was, sadly, out of touch with the goings on of the Jedi. That an the fact it was a droid was unusual...though by it's face...why was its face familiar?
"Diamonte? Diamonte's droid?"
That would make sense. Monte was an artisan...figured he would send a droid. Was Monte at the Yavin academy now? A greeting from a headmaster was too notable to simply turn down with ill manners. Perhaps Monte, er, his droid anyway, could tell him who this headmaster is. Clearing his throat, Dante hit the comm once more.
::Very well. There is an aft garage bay with room for your speeder. You have permission to dock there. If you are not who you say you are, I'm going to turn you into scrap.::
Peacekeepers: a little more rough around the edges than most Jedi, a little more in tune with the "common" folk. Not all Jedi were high and mighty knights and masters. There were also those that failed the trials, that were far closer to regular ordinary beings - to that lot more menial duties were given. And, to that group Dante belonged. No doubt Frore knew this already, and knew of Dante's...history...with the council.

As Fore pulled to the aft Garage, the droid slowed speed and eventually hopped of (electing to walk my speeder into the Garage as opposed to riding it in. once all systems were silent and powered down, Frore retrieved the manifest of the shuttle as the test flight of the shuttle had to account for all the supplies that would be needed. walking towards the door that led to the inside of the crawler, Frore rendered a bow with the data pad offered out in front of him for Dante to take.
::Greetings sir, I am Frore, prototype Super holographic droid. I come to render aid and bring tidings from the headmaster of the Yavin academy::
his voice was melodious to hear although a metallic element in the voice made it clear the Frore was still a droid despite the Aires he might put on. when commanded to rise Frore had already established a link to Yavin… although holographically… Diamonte was present
::Dante… Count Deveaux, it is good to see you old friend. I am sorry i am not able to meet you in person… I am stuck on yavin, trying to re-establish the Praxeum for use. and here is the kicker… I was the one selected as headmaster. anyway my droid was not meant to interfere if you have some form of exile on your hands… He was running a test run of the extended hyperspace capabilities of a new Shuttle i have been developing… but if you have need of someone to help out he is at your service…. his module based on my physiology is nearly perfect… barring the glaring notion that he cannot use any force powers. the shuttle is yours to use for parts if you need them. anyway for the moment i need to bid you adieu. i need to prepare to pitch reestablishing the Jedi holonet project to the Council and the college of masters. May the force be with you my brother.::

Hurrying down the halls of the METT, Dante eventually made his way to the turbolift, and taking a quick ride about four decks down eventually arrived at the bottom most level of the crawler. Stepping out, he walked down the halls to the rear of the craft, and keying in a code, opened up the garage bay. Hitting another button, the outer doors slowly opened and the ramp descended, allowing a Diamonte look alike to walk his speeder bike in. Crossing his arms Dante waited for the droid to parks its speeder in the bay, before walking up to the droid to converse with it. Before he could speak though, the droid began to speak in a heavily synthesized though still recognizable tone of Diamonte. :: Greetings sir, I am Frore, prototype Super holographic droid. I come to render aid and bring tidings from the headmaster of the Yavin academy:: his voice was melodious to hear although a metallic element in the voice made it clear the Frore was still a droid despite the Aires he might put on. when commanded to rise Frore had already established a link to Yavin… although holographically… Diamonte was present:: Dante… Count Deveaux, it is good to see you old friend. May the force be with you my brother.:: Taking the datapad, Dante briefly looked over its contents before handing the pad back. It was clearly Diamonte's work...that combined with the holo-message eliminated any doubt from Dante's mind that this was some kind of...trap. Clearing his throat, Dante gave a stiff bow to the droid, and gestured to the crawler around them. "I...er...that is to say I'm no Count. Not...not anymore at least. Just a humble hermit. My though, I must have been out of touch for a long time indeed: last I met Monte he was but a humble Knight artisan...to think he's become a headmaster! Then again, I myself have come far as well..." Clearing his throat, he gestured to the droid to come in, and Dante went about the process of shutting the garage bay. Once sealed, he began walking back to the turbolift, talking to the droid all the while. "Nearly five years ago I sat on the Council of Reassignment. However, an ill mission begotten by my own arrogance and impatience took the lives of many Jedi and several civilians...as punishment, I was exiled to Dagobah for four years. This was done relatively quietly...I wouldn't be surprised if you...er...your master...hadn't heard of it. Anyway...I don't feel as if I've changed that much. So, I continue my exile here on Vandelhelm...as remote as you can get in the expanse. Maybe I can do some good out here, away from a place where I can cause true damage." Shrugging, Dante hit the turbolift button to ascend to the second deck (the first being the observation deck) and waited silently for the lift to come to a stop. Clearing his throat, Dante shrugged at the droid. "It's, uh, an honor to be visited by a headmaster. Or his proxy anyway. I don't have a need for your shuttle...ALTHOUGH...if it has any weaponry on it, perhaps the METT could be retrofitted to have some defensive armament. The sensors could be given a boost as well...your help with this would be appreciated. Beyond this...I've been trying to survey vandelhelm for crystals appropriate for use in lightsabers. I thought that maybe I could at least be of SOME use to the order...but I lack the proper survey equipment, and knowledge, to complete this task. I'm a doctor, not an engineer. A fault METT track drive I can fix...but not divine a likely spot for crystal formations. Could you help with these tasks?"

The droid nodded and began to speak
::My shuttle was not outfitted with weaponry... however the sensor arrays can be refitted, and reconfigured to serve the purposes that you request... as for your other request... a change of modules would be in order first::
:Initiate Frore Module DMT:
the portions of Frore's body that were uncovered transformed into that of Diamonte Tuhlute. and for all intents and purposes, the projection of a man that stood before Dante was Diamonte.... Diamonte Frore. the voice from the transmission was heard, however a filter of metallic voice was applied to remind Dante that this was still a droid that stood before him.
::This module will accommodate the requests you made. I will be able to tune specific sensor arrays to use Seismic A-T programs to not only search for crystals, but help determine the likelyhood that a specific vein of Crystals would contain crystals suitable enough in power and design to be utilized in a lightsaber::
there was a pause before Frore continued
::I do hope the visual of this form is acceptable. i can build a composite module... but it will take personal time... priorities first would be getting this Mobile base operational and to code... then once we are suited for excavating crystals... then I will have time to devote to a from that is uniquely my own::

Dante smiled wanly, and waved a hand dismissively.
"Oh, I'd hardly call this a "base"...more of a wandering habitat than anything. Yes, your appearance is acceptable...though somewhat unnerving; very realistic generators you have there. Eh...a sensor refit should do nicely. I'm not that keen on putting armament on this vessel anyway...this is supposed to be a Jedi outfit after all. Most threat we have coming this way is a sandstorm and an cranky desert worm...not much else that can't be dealt with either a saber or the force."
The lift chimed, signaling they had reached deck two, and Dante signaled for Frore to follow. Walking through the long tube like hallways of the METT, they eventually came to the bridge - a large squarish room with plenty of windows, consoles, and an impressive view of the terrain around them.
"Well, this is the bridge. As you can see I have a pod of ten V-1 pilot droids - adapted modules for terrain piloting of course. But, we've been having all kinds of problems with V-4 and the communications station. He cant seem to fix the holographic tank"
Dante gestured to a table in the center of the bridge, apparently a holographic generator that displayed terrain, sensors, and various other functions on the METT.
"Czerka tech is second rate it's true - but they built things sturdy. Thing is, its not very modular...getting new tech to interface with Czerka specific ports and modules is damn near impossible. Your help would be most appreciated."

Frore nodded
I will see what i can do. Assuming you have the tools… as for the crews in general, i suggest getting a singular pilot droid to act as Deck commander. i would suggest a GD16, or an FEG::
it took thirty minutes before the holotank was operational again.
::It was the regulator and the bypass. now, if you would like let us head toward my shuttle and start removing systems that i might be able to retrofit.::

Inputting coordinates manually rather than via droid, Dante nodded his throat at the suggestions and explanations, clearing his throat slightly as he worked.
"Uh...ahem...so Frore. Your master is a headmaster now? When did this happen? In fact...what exactly HAVE I missed, in the past five years with the Jedi?"
Slowly, the METT ponderously changed directions towards the shuttle at some speed, it would arrive within the hour. In the mean time...Dante's curiosity would most likely get ahold of him.
"And, for that matter, how is Adi the Watchman? Raven Alora? Devlin Dewe? How is....everyone?"
He wasn't exactly a favorite at parties - Dante knew that. But, despite his past with the council, he did his best to stay in touch with the goings on of the Order. Even if his best was a five year check up to see if anyone was still alive.

Nodding the Droid’s answer were calculated and vague… not because he wanted them to be, but to avoid hitting Dante with too many bombshells.
::In terms of Master Tuhlute… the short answer was he was the highest ranking jedi to be able to commit to staying on world to rebuild the academy… the long answer is harder and more decisive to explain.::
the droid froze as it tried to process the second request.
::I cannot fulfill to appeasement, the complete second request because my intel comes from a database that is part of a unique initiative by Master Tuhlute…
… I can tell you that Master Matango from data points we have, is not the jedi he was known to be when the watchmen first broke bread on Yavin. in fact the file i can access on him, lists him as Missing In Actions, despite the fact that Master Matango takes part in the current phase of the Master Tuhlute’s initiative::

Dante openly snorted at those words, and slowly shook his head. Picking up a microprobe, he gently re-calibrated the newly repaired hologram emitter for his own eyesight - most forgot he saw into the UV spectrum as well...made things a bit more blue and purple scale than he cared for, but that was the truth of it.
"Posh. Initiatives? Secret Agendas? Sounds like the Order hasn't changed at all with its elusive machinations and vague mysteries. Don't presume I don't know of the secret things that lurk in the order, the shadows and investigators, that the order itself is..." there was a clatter, as Dante's microprobe tumbled from his hand to the deck plating, and his eyes seemed to gain a far away look. Several moments later his eyes seemed to refocus, and he blinked at Frore "I sense a disturbance in the force. The city is once again churning with intent and direction under the still living force...grave things are afoot...but I sense...something different. Someone different. A force-user has joined us on this world...a...Jedi."
A scowl stretched itself over Dante's face, and he manually increased the speed to the cave that the shuttle was parked at. Pushing the track drivers fast their safeties. He was certainly eager to get away from the city.
"Tut tut. Seems like the Jedi follow me everywhere in my isolation...seeking to draw me out of reclusion. Alas, my exile is not complete. The murders of Masters Borri, Thantain, and Dorex are still on my heart and conscience...I cannot return until I have found the balance I speak. Understand this, and report this to your master, yes?"

I sighed… the preconceived notions of Dante were hard to understand. Surely he knew that I was under the employ of Silas Kryze, and received an amicable wage for the work that i did… surely I had to owe thanks to Sentients for the Ethical Treatment of Androids ( SeTA ) for that… On top of that did he really expect that the best policy to share information above what was important for someone to know at any one time… right? but in my contemplation we were already in motion toward the signal of another Jedi
“Certainly sir, The ignorance of Ignorance is deep within the order.”

The X83's shriek reverberated across the desert as Miras leveled out of his dive only a few hundred feet above the ground. Inside the cockpit a rendition of the Modal Nodes' 'Mad About Me' was playing at a deafening volume, interrupted only by the occasional protest from the fighter's astromech. Oblivious, the youth puffed contentedly on the stub of a cigarette as he skimmed along the dunes. His gray eyes scanned the horizon ceaselessly, searching.
He'd only been on Vandelhelm for three days. Standard protocol was to announce himself to the local security forces, but Miras' gut had told him that would be a bad idea this time around. The force was restless here, anxious, so he decided to first investigate on his own. A few hours at a public terminal in Rimma City had turned up a recent spike in unsolved homicides, and from what scarce details he could dig up, they appeared to be gang related. A leaked photo of the most recent victim showed a single blaster wound to the back, delivered close range. The corpse's level gaze had given the Padawan the chills and reasserted his doubts about going to the police. If criminal elements had infiltrated V-Sec, announcing there was a Jedi on planet was the last thing he wanted to do.
The news that there was another member of his Order on Vandelhelm had shocked Miras. Sure, the higher levels were almost purely bureaucratic, but to dispatch two investigators without making them aware of each other? It was enough to give him a migraine. He'd overheard the pilots discussing it at a low end cantina on the outskirts of Rimma City, the 'Mynock's Roost'. He'd rented one of the dilapidated rooms on the second floor and was on his way outside for a smoke when word of the sandcrawler marked with the Jedi insignia reached him. Initially distrustful of the sallow-faced youth, a few rounds had loosened their tongues considerably, and before the night was over he'd gotten directions.
The R6 unit hooted as they sailed over a shallow canyon.
"I see it," Miras replied absentmindedly. "Nowhere to land. We'll have to set down nearby and hoof it."
The droid let out an irritated blat of static.
"Fine, stay with the ship. See if I care."
The TwinTail flew directly over the sand crawler, banking into a lazy turn that brought it back around for another pass. The nearest clear spot large enough for a landing was a little under a half a kilometer away, but there were no obstructions. Miras could see the crawler as he killed the engines and climbed out of the cockpit. His hand brushed away the dark cloak he'd thrown on to ward against the sun, checking that his pistol was clear in its holster. Ignoring the R6's chiding, he set out on foot, approaching the crawler at a measured pace.

The next few hours were quiet as Frore did his to run through every system to figure out what needed to be replaced, and specifically what parts could be swapped across vessels so that the shuttle could still fly if the need arose. but when the Mound that formed the mouth of the cave came into view, the silence was broken.
::Sire, we are approaching Kage no horaana. the Cave of Shadows. I picked this particular location as a ‘naturale’ hangar bay since the particular metals in the sand and stone surrounding this cavern had a tendency to scramble certain scans to the point that an ion scan would cause a ship to disappear… i will adjust the scanners when i return to compensate::
Asking for company as the Droid headed toward the garage bay of the crawler the time was spent explaining which parts would be transferred, and why… as well as what parts needed to be accessed during Frore’s absence to more easily facilitate the updating of systems.
In fact, the droid was nearly mounted on the BARC speeder, ready to hit ignition, when a shadowy spec appeared cresting the horizon. it would be about ten minutes before sentient eyes would be able to render the spec and consider it a threat, so frore mentioned it in his parting words before departing the vessel
::Stand Ready Lord Deveaux… A figure approaches on foot. he will arrive before nightfall.::

The two had worked in silence, the truth of it being that droids or...whatever Frore was, made him somewhat uncomfortable. He was old, after all, nearly a hundred and three...and his species was xenophobic at worst and close minded and arrogant at best. Figuring out where he stood personally towards a...synthetic, for lack of better word, wasn't truly high on his list. So, with the droid's utterance of "Ignorance of ignorance" Dante gave a grunt, and a nod, and then gestured to a nearby console that needing repairing. The two had worked for many hours since then...and at the droids departure to the nearby Kage no horaana, Dante simply nodded. Accompanying the droid to the garage bay, he listened to its instructions on the way down about systems access and updates, as well as which pieces he intended to transfer over. As the droid mounted his speeder bike though, Dante cleared his throat.
"Uh. Thank you, for your help. It's truly and greatly appreciated. I'm somewhat biased when it comes to droids or...whatever you are. But, you've sped up repairs quite considerably...you have my deep thanks."
Dante gave a stiff bow - he was never one for bowing to another sentient, let alone a droid - and was about to turn away to go back up to the bridge, when the droid announced the arrival of a sentient. Turning, Dante attempted to peer across the sands...alas he could see nothing...his eyes were not as strong as the droids. Pulling on the force slightly, he let it flow across his mind and his perception of sight. After a few moments, he opened his eyes once more, and just barely visible, a lone cloaked figure - humanoid by the looks of it - approached at a slow and steady pace.
"I see him. Go to the cave...if he's trouble, his scanners wont find you out in there...if he's a forceling he won't sense you do to your mechanical properties. I should be able to handle him if he's hostile. But...you never know."
As Frore exited the garage bay, Dante hit the door close button, and made his way back up to the bridge, instructing the pilot pod to turn the crawler so as to present the Jedi insignia to the traveller. Silently, he waited for the man to draw close...in the meantime though, he worked with Frore to cycle through various systems, updating as they waited. No sense in wasting time after all...you could never be too careful in the desert.
