The Resource Extraction Platform falls toward the planet below. The entry shields glow with a spectral brilliance as the atmosphere starts to heat around them, eventually hiding the structure in a shell of cherry red fire. The repulsors on the structure keep it aimed at the correct location & oriented the correct way. If they were to fail on descent, the structure would never reach the surface of the planet in one piece as the shields are directional, & would do little good if facing an improper way. After nearly ten minutes of fiery descent, the REP sets down with a solid thump. Usually, the structure is allowed to set down heavily enough to cause a small, glassy crater, but here, the heavy forest would make that unnecessarily dangerous for the surroundings.
Shortly after landing, the REP begins to uncurl & unfold. From its basic landing form of a roughly twenty-meter box with barely a spare cubic centimeter of space inside, it relaxes into a spacious disc over a hundred & fifty meters across & ten meters thick. The entire REP is suspended nearly five meters off the ground by a system of anchor pylons.
Once the REP had finished settling, it deployed its skyhook. Designed to transport massive amounts of cargo in a short time, the crew & machinery would soon find their way down it to settle into their new, semi-permanent homes.
Here on Falleen, most of the revenue would come from biological samples gathered from the local plant-life & wildlife. The samples would be studied, tested, & experimented on here in the local REP before the results & additional samples are sent back for archiving & possibly further testing.

A yellow districts industry patrol witnessed the REP settling in kinda. They immediately sent a radio to Vic ::Looks like a Skyhook is being set down. Sir, orders?:: -Vic- ::Leave it alone. It belongs to an enterprise the owner of this corporation is setting up. It is strictly research related. Now continue to gather your samples. We need new marketable products.:: The transmission cut out immediately

The man paced the length of the room to stop in front of a heavy durasteel wall, standing there for a moment as if he was going to attack the offending obstacle with his bare hands. Seeming to think better of that course of action the tall man with dark blonde hair spun through an one-hundred and eighty degree turn to pace back the way he had come, stopping for a moment to stare through the transparisteel window and into the lab that lay beyond.
It was getting increasingly difficult for Jax to keep a lid on anger and impatience of late, the clamour of intoxicants roaring through his system creating a cacophony that did little to promote calm thought. While the chaos of over-exposure to the chemicals they ingested had its own set of drawbacks he found it preferable to the pain and tension that came from their lack, a dry nothingness in body and mind that left a deep-seated ache that seemed to descend right into his very soul. The constant need for the biochemical stimulants was an unfortunate side-effect of the process, the tolerance and need driving up in equal measures the more one was subjected to their touch. Use of the concoction was problematic without the heightened physiological activity that came from the stress and strain of combat. The increased blood pressure would act as an artery through which the chemicals would be ferried to the muscles that would find adequate use for their presence, adding extra muscle mass and energy to the struggling areas. Without such impetus the compounds could have strange and dangerous effects on the body and mind...
The voices had also began to increase the frequency of their torment upon him, the screams and curses coming so abruptly that he almost cried out himself in surprise, forcing him to grind his teeth together through their incessant ranting. Steady use of the drugs also aided in quieting them somewhat though they often remained with him to whisper sweet words of madness in his increasingly disjointed mind. He knew he was not the only one of what was left of their squad, the other three members also struggling with their emotional demons. It was the ill-fated mission to Taris that had done it. That mission and the betrayal of their masters, he thought grimly.
Head turned to the window he continued to stride, only just managing to bring himself to a halt before he paced straight into the first walls opposite numbers, a sibling equally as hard and implacable. With a low growl he turned and flung his arms wide, a gesture of extreme annoyance, head tilting back so he could bellow out a heavy sign to the uncaring ceiling.
"How much longer..."
He knew the only other occupants of the waiting room had as little idea as him to how long the procedure behind the glass would take so he kept his question rhetoric. Sat on the hard stone bench that ran the length of the wall facing the window Ghost looked on with pale blue eyes, an unmoving bruise against the dark grey wall while Flit sat next to him picking at his fingernails with a hooked knife. Everything was blue about Ghost. His skin, his hair, his eyes even his mood. That he was sitting with seeming impatience only served to increase Jax's annoyance, an ire that was already close to making him snap. Flit in contrast was all constant movements, from the steady twitch of his bouncing knee, to the constant shuffling in his seat. hence the name Flit. He buzzed around like a Flitnat. The fourth member of their group was in the lab being strapped into an examination chair. From there they could run tests on the suits they wore, check the feeds of chemicals, and run both physiological and psychological tests.
They had been recalled to base following an incident just after the Taris mission where Jax and his three squadmates had gunned down seven enemies posing as civilians running cargo through a Taris spaceport. Apparently their handler was too blind to see that they were in fact enemy insurgents looking to tail them back home in order to unleash a hidden strike force against them but Jax knew. The voices had assured him.
So it was that they must be subjected to this ridiculous charade while the secret war out there continued to move along without them there to stop it. He could almost feel his bones grinding as he clenched his fists. That they were trapped in here could only mean disaster on the battlefield. With them out of the game then their foes could move unhindered to secure vital goals and get themselves in place for an end game that could spell doom for them all. They couldn't have had better luck if they planned it...
Perhaps they did...
The thought had crossed his mind before the voices had begun speculating, this situation being too convenient to be down to chance. They had been betrayed on Taris as they were being betrayed now, shadowy plots moving behind lying mouths and untrustworthy eyes. His thoughts went to Reek, strapped into the examination chairs beyond the glass, with these whitecoats prodding them with whatever dirty instruments they had to hand. If they were allowed to incapacitate his suit it would be too late to get him out of there and he was not about to lose another brother.
He stepped closer to the glass and raised his hand to press his palm against the transparisteel, peering though at his brother reclined therein. His head bowed for a moment as he tried to sort out his conflicting thoughts, the war between duty and honour, albeit his garbled versions of the two, making his head twitch and his legs tremble. The armoured vest he wore, absent the heavy shoulder, arm and leg guards, pumped a fresh batch of stim into him as his adrenaline rose, causing his heart to thunder in his chest.
Seeming to sense the gathering storm Ghost and Flit rose from his seat like a silent blue demon and its dark angsty shadow, their eyes wide as they saw the tensed readiness of their leader. With no weapons to hand aside from Flits knife they glanced at each other uneasily but made ready to do whatever Jax decided of them, knowing that their sargeant harbored serious doubts about their safety here.
They had discussed it when they could, when they were not closely watched by those sent to bring them in. The dreams, the voices, the sense of unease. They all shared them and agreed that it was only in each other they could trust. They were surrounded by enemies and, it seemed, here most of all. Finally with a howl of inner fury the restraint of Jax broke and shattered into a thousand pieces.
The howl of fury burst from his mouth as well as he pulled his hand from the glass and clenched it into a fist. With frightening speed and power he plunged it forward to crash through the transparisteel as if it were paper, bursting through with such force that the glass flew inward to pepper those within. An alarm immediately began to blare through the installation, a steady double bleat that shook the core. Emergency lights flashed on and shouts of dismay could be heard within the lab as Jax stepped through the shattered window...

There was a fine mist of blood covering the upper portion of Karen Diaz' face, in a straight line from the left corner of her mouth, across to her right temple. All above that razor-sharp line was slick with blood, the blood from what had been the neck of Doctor Ken Sheldon, who a moment earlier had been asking her for an instrument. Likewise, anaesthesiologist Tien Buntu, a Sullustan who had recently joined the team, was now decorating her scrubs. The resident Cybernetecist, Jad Oorain lay slumped in a corner, his head tilted at a sickeningly unnatural angle.
Karen had raised her left hand in defense, and would have said 'stop' or 'no' -- but it was all over before it began. The subject, Rico, 'Reek...' had caved in Sheldon's handsome face and broken Oorain's neck before she had managed to utter a sound, her hand blocking the spray from the lower part of her face, and now she stood, frozen to the spot, shock and fear attempting to gain a foot-hold. She knew the protocols. Knew that they knew, as well. Knew that they'd see through any half-assed psycho-babble or attempts at pleading ignorance or mercy.
No movements. No lying. Be mindful of heart-rate and breathe deeply and normally. Keep your wits.
P-please. d-don't kill me...
It was only after she said the words that she realized she was still holding the syringe Sheldon had requested, filled with a massive dose of Diazepam. To drop it now meant almost certain death. But holding onto it also wasn't good. Left hand still raised in defense, she moved her right hand as slowly and evenly as possible, and placed the syringe gently back on the previously sterile tray, now covered in the remains of Dr. Sheldon't grey matter.

Jax was through the jagged hole in the glass his fist had made in less than a second, his belligerent chin leading the way. His boots crunched down on the broken shards of his fury, the grinding crack of further damage a sweet symphony to his ears. His flat eyes took in the scene, the blood and carnage testimony to Reeks impatience to be done with the process. Without missing a beat Jax strode forwards aggressively, hearing the Flit and Ghost crunching their own boots down behind him.
"Report, corporal!"
His voice thundered out in its typical growling snarl of command, the works barked rather than spoken with any civilised tongue. His right hand shot out and seized a woman tentatively replacing a syringe, his fingers curling around her throat to lift her clean into the air, her feet kicking pathetically as her own hands came up to grasp his wrist. There was a murmur from the centre of the room as a huge figure, shadowed and highlighted in red from the emergency lights, stirred tumultuous.
Still strapped down in the examination chair, and heavily sedated, Reek had nevertheless managed to free his right arm, actually tearing the reinforced straps that had sought to keep him prone. The carnage of brain and blood was evidence of the use he had put his free arm too, dark stains adorning the knuckles and forearm.
"I... I dun't know Sarge... Mah ed feel funny..."
Reeks words were a slurring mess as Ghost and Flit stepped to his side, freeing his legs and left arm before hoisting him up into a sitting position. With a quick glance Flit seized a small medical torch from among a pile of spilled instruments, his sharp eyes, enhanced way beyond that of a normal human, picking out what he needed easily.
He shined the torch in Reeks eyes, the big man slapping his hand away in irritation.
"I don't know what they've done to him, Sarge... Flit reported in his usual high-pitched whine. "Drugged or something. His eyes are like piss-holes in the snow."
If Reek wasn't mobile they'd have no chance of getting out of here. With the alarms blaring base security would already have been dispatched and Jax was keeping a count ticking down in his head as he waited for the exact moment a response would be upon them. Standard personnel would be no problem for them but if their brothers were deployed against them...
He cursed and shook the woman like a rag doll in his hand, marching forward to slam her bodily against the wall. He was careful not to injure her beyond the ability to speak, his left hand grabbing hold of her under the arm to support her slightly.
"What did you do to him, you evil bitch!?"
He shook her again and thrust his face before her eyes, his expression wild and insane. The stammering from her lips only served to infuriate him further as the juices roared through his system. Veins bunched on his bare arms and at his temples, throbbing angrily with the steady drum of his heartbeat.
Behind him Ghost and Flit had gotten Reek to his feet but the big man appeared listless and vacant, his two brothers struggling to hold up his massive frame. His head turned back around as she finally managed to frame an actual word, her "there" directing his gaze to another set of unspilled instruments to the left of the examination chair. A syringe sat there, identical to the first but with a yellow liquid inside.
"That will get him back to normal?"
With her wide-eyed nod Jax turned and hurried over to the indicated spot, absently throwing her aside to slam into a wall with sickening force. Seizing the syringe he leaped over the bloody remains of one of the scientists and stepped to Reeks side. The big man stared at him suspiciously, bucking and fidgeting in the grasp of Ghost and Flit as he eyed the syringe.
"Whaya go dere, sarge...?" Reek voice drawled out the words as he reared back from the needle. "Geroff! Ger the fuck away frum meh wiv that..."
Ghost and Flit tightened their grip as the big man tried to shake them off, the latter speaking in what was probably an attempt at a soothing tone.
"Its okay, big guy. Its just something that's going to clear your head..." Ghosts voice echoed the words a moment latter in their usual reserved selves. "Clear your head."
Timing his action with the sway of Reeks struggling arm, little able to miss the huge throbbing vein at the bottom of the bicep, Jax thrust the needle ho,e and emptied the contents into Reeks system. The huge mans howl coincided with the end of Jax's internal counts and he spun towards the heavy blast door just as it burst open...

...to reveal a small sec team of six humanoids, preceded into the chamber by three F-series Battle droids. On the positive side, the sec team was merely replying to the general alarm, and seem uncertain about what to do, now that they're faced with four Juicers -- elite soldiers of their own banner. The soldiers are wearing light riot gear without helmets, and are armed with identical weapons: A-280 rifles (all but the leader have their rifles slung) and DC-17 handblasters, all currently set to stun. The blast doors open, and for a split second, the troops just take it all in, the carnage, the choke-hold, four of their elite, gone rogue? One the down-side, the F-series droids do not hesitate, taking precise aim with their blast rifles clasped in their small arms, and effectively lighting up the room with their blaster cannon-arms. Clear breaches of regulations have been recorded, and they merely act. This finally lights a fire under the six sec troops. The leader, a human Sergeant, takes cover behind the blast door bulkhead and opens his comm-link to wide band, calling for any and all backup to his location to quell a rogue Juicer squad. The Roughnecks have gone off the deep end! Send anyone -- send EVERYone! Gods help us, Send backup, NOW!! The two security team members closest to the door's opening react in very different manners: one, a Young Corellian, reaches reflexively for his sidearm. The other, A male red Twi', starts to un-sling his rifle. Of the remaining three, one -- a near-human with prominent brow ridges turns tail and runs for help, the second -- a young tough mixed-breed alien from the streets of Coruscant with dual-pupil eyes, quickest on the draw of any of them, manages to pull his sidearm free and point it at the still-restrained form of Reek, squeezing off three shots. The last, a Malatrin with thin, black tentacles in place of hair and prominent veins, kneels and drops his rifle off his shoulder and neatly into his hands, ready to fire.

Reacting with the inhuman reflexes of one so chemically enhanced Jax seized a surgical implement of delicate, razor sharp metal in his right hand as he drifted sideways to avoid the barrel directions of the security droids. Tumbling away from the deadly barrage of coherent light he set a foot against the heavy metal table from which he had attained his meagre weapon, extending his leg with a grunt of exertion to propel the improvised missile forward to crash into the nearest droid with a crunching impact that sent the robot reeling. His hand flashed out as he fell, sending the ungainly dagger flying towards the throat of one of the organic team members, the mix-breed who was drawing a bead on Reek.
He had analysed the scene as soon as their opponents had made themselves visible, categorising each by threat and proximity, further compartmentalizing each into how viable a target they were. He knew not to waste his throw on one of the mechanicals, the light weight of the scalpel making it ineffective against their armoured forms. Likewise the gave significant force to the throw at the mixed-breeds neck in order to offset the lightweight and aerodynamically irregular of his intended instrument of death.
As Jax crashed to the ground, rolling behind the safety of a organic waste container, Ghost and Flit also reacted with the heightened reflexes of seasoned killers. Flits dagger whipped back out, glinting with evil intent as it flicked lazily from his underhand throw, travelling the space between the three of them and the right eye of the Corellian. Both Ghost and Flit dropped to the ground as the barrage of fire erupted to illuminate the room, a strobing effect highlighting every move.
Both men exhibited the same tactical reasoning as their commander, with their keen minds heightened further by the chemicals increasing their ability to process information at a heightened rate. It was only their individual preferences and personalities that varied their responses, Flit immediately seeking to seize the initiative while Ghost would patiently await an opening.
Reeks somewhat dumbfounded state cost him the cognitive dexterity with which to imitate the logical reasoning that his brothers displayed. Consequently he roared out in pain and anger as the blaster bolt from the mixed-breed burned into his upper arms a sickening stench of charred flesh beginning to permeate the air. With frightening speed and strength the big man spun, the added adrenaline from whatever was in the syringe adding fuel to his fire, and seized the huge metal frame of the table her had been strapped to moments before. With a ghastly screech and a horrible tearing sound the massive warrior ripped the heavy metal device from its moorings in the floor, giving off a thunderous howl as two more angry red bolts found their mark at upper back and right thigh. With smoke curling from the wounds he had incurred he spun and heaved the huge metal slab, trailing the debris from where it was torn from the floor. Using the massive device as cover as well as a battering ram he lunged forward, throwing it into the droids near the doorway.
"Move Roughnecks. Move!"
His voice bellowing as he ducked around the disposal unit Jax waved a hand to Ghost and Flit, urging them forward in Reeks wake...

The combined counter-assault of the Roughnecks was devastating.
Jax' table impacted the closest of the F-series droids, who maintained a steady stream of blaster cannon fire, tearing up the room indiscriminately, even as the impact of the table send the droid sprawling sideways. As the droid fell, firing the whole time, the path of its deadly cannon-fire fell upon the young Corellian, who was torn apart under the concentrated heavy-arms fire. He managed a shriek of pain and shock before his jaw and throat were cored and cauterized by the cannon-fire, and fell -- dead before his corpse hit the deck. Jax' scalpel, thrown as if he had all the time in the world, and an immobile, fixed target -- not a living, breathing adversary -- finds its mark, passing through and through the mixed-breed's neck, just an inch left of the windpipe. He takes aim, and manages a final well-placed shot on Reek before realizing that a torrent of blood is soaking his body armor. By the time he brings his hand up in front of his face, slick with crimson, it's all over, and he crumples to the floor, a pool of blood spreading around his form.
Flit's dagger misses the mark, only because the corpse of the Corellian was felled a split second before it arrived on-target, and the blade buries itself in the duralumin bulkhead opposite the blast doors, mere inches from the Sergeant's head.
Reek's table nails the other F-series droid, pinning it to the ground momentarily. Mercifully, it halts its barrage of cannon-fire, choosing instead to devote precious seconds to freeing itself.
The examination room is swiss-cheese, goodly portions reduced to barely-recognizable rubble. Miraculously, the Red Twi' escaped with his life, though instead of readying his rifle, he manages to drop to the ground and sweep-kick the malfunctioning F-series droids' left arm (continuing to fire) and redirect the blaster-fire into the ceiling, preventing any further friendly deaths.
The only other combatant, the Malatrin, fires off a half-dozen shots at Jax' location, though mostly as suppressing fire. He has no clear target.
At this stage, 'brow-ridges' has essentially cleared the area and is in the midst of reporting status from the closest Sec station. The squad leader, finished for the moment with his communications, preps his rifle and leans out from his bulkhead cover position, adding a few suppressing shots to the Malatrin's half-dozen. Finding the courage to pipe up, he calls out, though there's little conviction in his voice.
Surrender now, and there won't be any more hurt!

Bolts pinged off the metal walls around his Jax's head, one burning through the top half of his ear, the steady stream forcing him to abort his charge around the bin. His face twisted in a grimace yet he felt no pain, not even noticing the wound. His snarling frown was at being thwarted by the poxy man and his irksome shots as he hunkered down for a moment, lips working as madness spewed forth.
"All these clowns waging this goddamn war. They should be bunking with faeries not serving up meals they can't digest. I told them they'd get heartburn but they just keep on scoffing...."
He set his shoulder against the heavy durasteel container and shoved, sliding it forward a couple of feet with an earsplitting screech of protesting metal. He grunted as he set himself again, legs bunched and tight as the sought balance between downward friction and outward force. With another push and another deafening scream the container slid another few feet, drawing him closer to the angry little insect buzzing crimson bolts at him.
"Who are they anyway?" His voice bellowed out briefly before turning back to an angry mutter. "Fucking pansies ruining my day. We could have been friends... Again to a bellow before dropping. "Brothers even! Now you guys fuck me in the ass with your betrayals... Fucking noobs..."
His mind whirled in a roaring hurricane of madness and chemical divinity. Everything within him swelled and soared as he attained godhood with his enlightened mind of insanity and chaos. He would see them free from shackle, free from slavery. He would take his chosen to the promised lands of independence and glory to ply their trade in the greater universe. No longer the pawns of those who saw them their betters.
If Ghost or Flit heard the occasional bellow from their Captain over the growl and snarl of combat they gave no sign, each dedicated to their own path of death and destruction. With Reek having cleared the field somewhat Flit moved forward, heeding Jax's order and seeking to push for the door. Lunging forward he dipped and rolled over his right shoulder to spring up and take another huge step before once again dropping to the ground. Like a baseball player sliding into base he slid along the ground to jam both feet against the floundering droid that sprayed bolts against the ceiling. With a grunt of effort he kicked out to send the droid sailing through the doorway, gun once again spraying in all directions. He didn't know if there were more soldiers coming but the droid flailing about shooting its blaster everywhere in the hallway may buy them time. The second part of his heroically awesome move saw him scoop up the blaster carbine the Corellian had dropped and draw a bead on the Malatrin, only to see his target's head dissolve under the assault of Reeks hand.
The big man had lost the ability to articulate words it seemed, turning into a raging, howling inferno of muscle and gristle that thundered after the table he had throwing. As Flit slid forward he had leaped and thundered down on the droid trying to rise from under the table, booted feet smashing its head flat. Not happy there he had then sprang sideways, his movements almost too quick for the eyes to follow, wrapping hands the size of shovels to either side of the shocked beings head.
"Gyaaarahhhhh... Stahp..... grahch... shooting... lil' man!"
The massive hands closed to the sickening crack and crunch of the skull crushing within the grasp. Bloody splashed out in a quick spurt before the pink and white interior oozed forth on a carpet of claret, gushing all down the man's wrists and forearms. He dropped the twitching mess to the floor then began to shake his hands with every increasing vigor and desperation as he tried to rid his hands of the excess.
"Gerrrroff me!"
His mind was almost childlike in its cognitive functions and interpretations, something seeming to have broken within its over-exerted pathways. His distress was palpable, his horror growing, as he continued to fail to rid himself of the blood on his hands, seeing it as some kind of entity that would not let him go.
Jax poked his head from cover and slid into the open, eyes on the doorway as he moved forward with hurried steps. He too retrieved a forearm before grabbing Reek by the front of his shirt.
"Get a grip, soldiers. I will not have you go all brain-fused on me is that clear?"
He measured the big man then delivered a sharp slap across the man's face, the blow whipping the head around almost knocking it around to face backwards. Reek quieted but continued to wring his hands and blabber on incoherently while Jax ducked his head to peer into the corridor.
"Ghost!"
He bellowed the words and nearly jumped when the man touched him on the shoulder.
"Where the fuck were you? Fucking shopping needed putting away and you were nowhere to be seen!"
The Chiss blinked his eyes at the strange turn of phrase, skin looking like that of a ripe plum in the muter red glow of the emergency lights. After a moment's pause he held out a small device to Jax, another three in his hands. His voice was quiet when he spoke, barely more than a sibilant whisper.
"They're bound to use gas so we'll need these..."
Jax snarled an acknowledgement as he took the device and secured it in a pouch on his belt, crouching as he ducked-walked to the door, pulling Reek down with him while Ghost acquired the mixed-breeds blaster. With Flit of the far side of the door he gave the nod and they both charged around the frame, snarling and roaring, blaster lighting the way before them...

Continued from here...
[ Mirian Santiro | YZ-775 medium transport, Shakey | Cockpit | Alpha-Six-Six | Location: Classified ]Pyro had told her and Jorek to get out of there once they'd jumped out. Mirian muttered something about crazy commandos, but then became very restless and uneasy after that. She'd been feeding data into the navicomputer, but then persuaded herself and Jorek to bring Shakey down not too far from where they'd dropped off their "cargo". Once they landed, she unbuckled herself and looked at Jorek."I've got a feeling that we won't be getting our pay unless this change of routine is handled soon." She said. "All this time, it was a fairly cushy job. And then...this. I knew it wouldn't last forever." She sighed, and leaned back in her chair, idly running her thumb over the top of her blaster. "You think we should just wait? I know I've always been on Pyro's case, and he kinda gives me the creeps, but still, don't mean I want to see him holey-cheesed now."

Post by Aherk Fyyar on Jun 5, 2015 19:46:02 GMT -8
The trip was not especially arduous; thirty minutes' speeder ride from the capital city, Aherk Fyyar found himself outside the gate of the facility that had caused his old partner such distress. And from a quick scan of the area it was not hard to see why; combat speeders were all over the place, and hired paramilitary soldiers were sprinting to and fro. Near the center of the facility, Fyyar could see dark plumes of smoke billowing upwards, and the distant sounds of blaster fire carried on the wind. The clues added up, confirming the story that had started to come together; the so-called "Juicers" were snapping, and the effects were proving rather catastrophic. Fyyar did not yet know how, but the specifics behind their turn did not concern him in the slightest; his sole goal was to find his next point of contact somewhere in the compound before him before the super soldiers got to them.
Easier said than done, even for him. And the glorified security guard rushing up to him at the gate was not going to help matters.
"You there!" the guard shouted, leveling his weapon at Fyyar, "get off the bike and put your hands in the air!"
Fyyar was upon him in an instant. He did not get off the bike. He did not put his hands in the air. He did, however, bring his deep blue eyes directly in line with the soldier's own, staring down the barrel of his blaster rifle without the slightest hint of fear.
"Faara Delasi sent me."
The words gave the soldier a slight pause. He almost lowered his weapon - initial indicators showed that the lie was enough to get him to seriously think about letting him through - but the hired gun kept the rifle on target, square at Fyyar's chest.
"We have this under control! Turn around and get out of here!"
The soldier's voice was shaking almost as much as his hands and rifle were.
"Look, you have a choice here," Fyyar began, still staring directly down the sights of his opponent's weapon, "you can either let me through or you can turn me around. Let me through - again, someone your boss specifically sent to take charge and deal with this Juicer situation - and you boys have a fighting chance against whatever hell these Juicers are throwing at you, because I can promise you the situation is about as controlled as a Tatooine sandstorm in there. Or you could stay the course, turn me around or even kriffing shoot me, and you're right back where you were; angry super-dudes with big guns and a royally pissed Devaronian.
"Your call."
A moment passed. The air was silent, save for the faint echos of blaster shots ringing out. After what felt like forever - four seconds to be exact, almost bang on the money - the gate soldier lowered his weapon and raised the gate, allowing the dark-haired stranger to pass.
"Now," Fyyar said, allowing himself to crack his wicked grin, "here's what I need..."

Trask watched, or rather felt, the situation below unfolding in all its gruesome reality. He could feel the anxiety and fear emanating from the soldiers in waves, they had seen what their targets could do, seen the carnage that even one of the juicers could bring down on a force that should have been vastly superior. All of them knew that their task force would be no match for a whole squad, but it seemed none of them knew about the backup that had air-dropped in and was even now breaching the far side of the facility. Inside, there was utter chaos. The team of four juicers were making short work of the facility's on-staff security and rapidly making their way toward what they likely perceived as an exit point that would take them to safety. It would come as an unfortunate shock when they realized the level of firepower and skill that had been arrayed against them.
The arrival of the newcomer on the speeder had been unexpected, though it was not beyond reason that the Chiss' employers might hire a secondary contractor, in addition to Trask and his feline compatriot. Someone to draw the attention of the gate security and distract scrutiny from the real threats, should the juicers make it that far, yet also capable of engaging them on equal terms if need be.
His verpine rifle's magazine slid home with a solid ka-chunk as he observed the scene below from his perch in the trees, then chambered the first of the seven depleted baradium rounds it held. He'd arrived only moments ago at the location he'd pointed out to Yama in the briefing as the feline continued on to his designated entry point, and quickly discerned that it was a poor position from which to strike at his targets, given their current location and direction of movement. Having repositioned to his current nest, he now possessed a vantage point that gave him a clear shot at every one of the exits his prey could use without first running into a significant amount of resistance, barring the creation of their own.
I'm in position. Circle south to avoid the blockade at the front door and enter from the roof. Our targets are moving through the southeast wing.
With his message sent and his rifle loaded, he settled in to watch and wait.

Such... carnage.
Karen's pulse remained in a state of agitation, as she had most certainly cheated death more than a few times in the last minute. He throat was raw and bruised, and breath came in ragged gasps as the platoon leader, clearly disjointed from reality, had nearly choked the life from her. She had somehow managed to avoid the barrage of blaster-fire from the battle droids and soldiers whose remains now coated the deck. A single overhead light flickered and sparked, casting the room into awkward shapes and angles as it swung from what remained of its power cable. There was nothing left to indicate this had once been an exam room. Even the blast doors were swollen, pock-marked and marred by wreckage. The entire area had become a warzone in a matter of seconds, and she was now collateral damage, behind enemy lines.
But those enemies were the soldiers she had spent nearly five years patching up and healing after missions. Weren't they on the same side? She shook her head to clear the obvious post-traumatic feelings and emotions. She was in shock, and she knew she needed to get clear of this area to make a report that nobody else left alive could make.
She rotated shoulders, tried to move her hips. No pain there. But her left arm ached, and looking down, she saw for the first time the sickening angle her arm was canted at, saw the compound fracture and the mess of broken fingers, and felt a fresh wave of nausea wash over her. Doubling over, a new piercing pain exploded in her chest, and for a moment, she saw stars. Running fingers from her good arm over her chest and side, she found at least three broken ribs. She was also aware that Jax had pulped her face pretty badly, her left eye was nearly swollen shut from the beating.
Knowing that following the route of the soldiers was a fool's errand, she crawled toward the small office off the exam room, fumbled with her key fob, and finally managed to get the door open. The difference between the outer room and the office was surreal. Her mug of caf was where she had left it, still warm. Papers requiring Ken's attention still clung to the clipboard where they had been placed at the start of her shift.
She collapsed into a chair and fumbled with the comm unit, further aggravating the wound to her arm as she tried to call security, momentarily forgetting the state of her left arm. Finally, she managed it, and waited while the line connected, and a panicked voice sounded from the speaker.
This is Doctor Karen Diaz, in exam four, Area A-66. There has been an incident. Send all available sec teams immediately. Doctor Sheldon is... they're all dead. I need help.
No shit, lady! We're pinned down out here, they're -- Sweet Mother of sounds of prolonged blaster fire I can't... can't hold them -- more small arms fire and the sound of an explosion Look lady... doctor... you sit tight. If you're in a safe place, stay put! 'cause I don't know if we're coming for you, or if you should save us! another quick burst of blaster fire, then static as the line goes dead
Karen drops the dead comm unit, and reaches for a small key around her bloody neck. She nearly drops it, but manages to unlock the top right-hand drawer of the desk, pulling out a small hold-out blaster. She slides to the floor, and sobs for the loss of not only her friends, but the experiment gone so wrong.

The sec-team leader, Aiden, having emptied his magazine, was in the process of reloading when the battle droid had come flying -- there was no other way to put it -- flying down the hall, landing mere feet from his position, weapon-limbs firing all the while. The Sergeant had managed to kick out, deflecting one of the weapon-arms while slapping a fresh mag home, and had poured a full-auto bead of fire on the droids' gun, reducing it to slag in mere moments, but he had paid the price. The other limb, still firing, had deposited four shots in a neat line straight across his abdomen, and blood had frothed from his mouth as he fell to the deck. Mercifully (?) the droid had stopped firing of shorted out immediately afterward.
Now he lay on his back, bleeding internally as he listened to the Roughnecks discuss battle plans like it was a friendly sabacc wager. He struggled to move, struggled to maintain consciousness, but only managed to cough and choke on his own blood. The strength left his arms, and he fell prone, looking up at the ceiling, as the Roughneck leader, Jax, appeared over him...

Pyro moved quickly, almost sprinter-quick. But a jungle-creep required some subtleties and stealth which precluded his using the full speed he could have mustered. He moved silently, barely disturbing even the smallest twigs and undergrowth -- not easy for a big man, carrying a Very Big Gun. At the edge of the perimeter, he halted to wait for Eryn to catch up, and took stock of the situation. The compound, such as it was, was little more than a series of mounds in the earth with blast door a sec clearance stations. There was no fence to the serpentine underground lair he was looking at, though there was a series of landing pads in the distance, surrounded by a sec fence and gate. No imposing structure. It must all have been underground. He could see two entrances, connected to the tell-tale lumps that must have been tunnels beyond. Looked like black-ops, no question. Though Pyro had seen much of what his government called 'black ops.' Hell -- he was part of it -- and he'd never seen a structure like this. There was definite small-arms fire coming from his nine o'clock, and he pinged the location to Eryn. They were a tight unit, but autonomous. Had to be. People were getting hurt, and the mission was clear: assume hostile. No sense in waiting, when things could be cleared and over.
Pyro unslung the BB-23 and cycled the action, priming the cannon. He took a deep breath, and moved in.

Yama nodded and took off using the cover of the tree line to hide him. Than again he could have ran at the complex head on banging drums and still not have been heard. Even from this distance the sound of alarms, gunfire, and small explosions filled the air with ruckus.
Finding as good as any spot to park and hide his speeder Yama slipped from the forest to the building with the speed and grace of a tiger stalking it's prey. With a leap from his strong legs he cleared half the distance up the side before using his claws to assist the climb. Once on top, Yama scanned the area looking for areas of entry, his eyes falling upon a large skylight. Down below he could see humans and several other races in a full panic some armed looking as if they were attempting to set up a counter attack. Others were dressed in white coats, just meat bags that would get in his way. With his own helmet with breather still on, Yama unslung the WESTAR-M5 Blaster Rifle and withdrew a coma gas canister loading it in the grenade launcher attachment.
Training on the room below he would wait till he saw the meat bags firing. The canister would knock all below out for several hours, and would allow to either kill an unconcious target or in the very least an extremely slow and drugged target giving Yama the advantage. A silent prayer to his Gods for their favor to be with him so he may bring much honor to his tribe, and himself with the heads and hearts of his prey.

Jax stared down at the prone form of the security sergeant as Ghost and Flit moved cautiously down the hallway to secure the junction six meters further ahead. With head tilted to the side in a curiously childlike expression he placed a boot on the man's throat and bore down savagely to pop the head off of the shoulders, the wash of gore spraying over the side of his foot. His eyes tracked the head as it rolled over twice then thrice before coming to a stop as its curved into the wall, resting there with the vacant eyes staring back at him.
The alarms were frying his head, causing a grumbling spike of pain to reverberate from temple to temple every time they sang out. Alongside the thundering roar of the chems it was a surprise he could garner enough peace to think at all never mind see them clear of this evil place. Despite the distraction he allowed himself a moment as he continue to battle the dead man's stare with one of his own...
The facility was mainly underground with only the one obvious exit, an exit that was likely heavily guarded by now. Access up to the ground level was gained via a secure turbolift for personnel and a freight turbolift that ran alongside it, both able to be shut down in the case of an emergency. To go that way would require them to take the control room which, along with their need to hit the armoury, was one task too many. Should they seek to take the control room they may as well secure the whole facility but to what end would that take them but to be trapped in possession of a series of useless labs and equipment. They would be entombed here by those without, starved into submission. Even the juice would run out eventually and the thought of withdrawals set his skin to crawling something fierce.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU STARING AT DEAD MAN!?"
With a flurry of motion he leaped forward, crashing into the wall in his abrupt rage as he pumelled on the severed head, caving the side of the face in with a meaty right fist. His second blow connected with a glancing hit as his contact with the wall muddied his aim, sending the gruesom ball bouncing and bounding down the hallway a few feet. Lurching after it like a clumsy child trying to gather a softball he finally snared it between his hands, ignoring the blood running down his wrists.
"No escaping me, dead man."
Gripping the lank hair in his left hand, his right seized the knife in his boot and came up to neatly slice off the ears before he lobbed the head over his shoulder, allowing it to bounce and bob its way back to the body.
"Keep you close. Keep you safe."
He closed his hand around his gory prize and looked up shiftily at Reek. He need not have worried as to the big mans scrutiny. He crouched in the doorway to the abattoir, or lab as it once was, rocking back and forth on his heels and blubbering softly.
Poor man's gone, he thought as he crouched there covered in blood with some severed ears clutched to his chest, head twitching dramatically on its neck. Insane. Cobwebs and demons in that head for sure...
A low whistle caused him to rise and look to his left where Ghost was waving them down the hallway. Stepping forward he pulled Reek to his feet and grabbed him by the collar, tugging the near-stupified man behind him as he strode down the hallway. Blaster fire sung out to the left as he reached Ghosts position, eyebrow arching up at the racket.
Ghost offered a slight smile, his voice as steady as always despite his eyes being bright and full of battle fever.
"More contacts at operations and Flit is keeping them pinned. Med bay and the rest of the labs are sealed off but we should be able to cut through supplies to get to the armoury. From there its a straight run back to operations."
Jax grunted as he hauled Reek around the corner, holding the big man up while he fiddled with the tubes that snaked down the back and both arms. There was a way to trigger the influx of stims and chems manually but the big mans equipment seemed to be off.
"Belay that last. We're not going to operations..."
His voice was hoarse but steady, breaking off when Reek suddenly roared and bounded off down the hallway.
He had a plan now and it was likely the only way to survive more than five minutes out of this place.
"Well... Something did something..."
He started after the shambling behemoth with Ghost loping elegantly at his side, the roars and bellows of the big man running a counterpoint to the alarms and making Jax's head feel like it was going to split open in protest. Ghost added to the annoyance by prattling on with insanely well reasoned questions...
"But if we're not going out via the turbolifts then you must mean the air exchange. But you can't mean the air exchange because there are three twelve foot fans spinning at well over ten thousand revs per minute. There's no way through there unless..."
Flit was crouched at an intersection using a maglift crane that had obviously transporting things from storage to the labs as cover, firing sporadically down the hall to their left. The lack of return fire gave mute testimony to the level of marksmanship Flit could attain even with the bog-standard rifles the security chumps used. He glanced up as Reek darted past him, moving with frightening speed for a man his size.
"Got him moving then..."
The dry comment was ignored by Jax as she skidded to a halt besides Flit, gesturing Ghost after Reek with a chopping motion of his right hand. No words were needed and the pale Chiss sprang off to babysit the near-mindless machine.
"I need you to get sample See En Five from lab three."
It was hard to tell if the resulting frown was one of puzzlement about the strange request or concentration as he fired off another shot, neatly clipping a man in the upper arm to send him spinning to the ground. The sounds of moans and screams indicated that Flit had been content merely to wound his foes and create logistical nightmares for those to come rather than kill them outright. Excellent, he though. It would work well with his plan.
"Well... You'll need to cover here."
Without so much as a faretheewell Flit rose and darted back down the hall a few yards before he sprang upwards, smashing through a vent cover and pulling himself up into the tight confines above. Jax grinned as he raised his left hand to his lips, whispering tenderly into the severed ears he held.
"See, dead man? A real soldier. Didn't ask questions or complain about the assignment. Just gets on with it."
Angry red light splattered against the wall near his head and he quickly secured the ears in his pocket before bringing up his stolen rifle. He could hear Ghost yelling at Reek in the distance as they neared the armoury but all that faded to the background as the Juices filled him with the song of combat. He laughed maniacally as he spat off shot after shot at the far end of the corridor where the control room was situated, finally the pain in his head lessening as he let loose his wrath at those who would harm him and his...

The panic inside seemed to overflow as bodies fled away or were blown away. That's when Yama noticed the large human males firing into the group. These had to be the targets, no puny human could be this strong or this fast naturally. Taking aim Yama shot several gas canisters into the room, enough to drop several hutts. The gas would work quickly and dicipate thanks to the ventilation system other surrounding areas would be affected but not as badly. Any residual gas in the room would do little. Regardless of side those inside would drop into a coma like state for several hours.
As soon as the rounds were launched Yama stepped back away from the edge in case anyone may try to be a hero and shoot up before passing out.
All Yama needed to do was wait till the shooting stopped and count to 60. With weapons ready, and helmet still turned on he waited in anticipation, tail twitching with excitement.

Post by Aherk Fyyar on Jun 19, 2015 15:15:04 GMT -8
Even as the sounds of blaster fire grew ever closer, the nine man strike team that had entered the building moved quickly - but methodically - through the building. Every open door was searched. Every closed door was opened, either by the opening pad, a bypass, or raw brute force, and then searched. And while the armored, uniformed mercenaries swept through the building - four of them breaking off to head downstairs - their leader kept watch over the hallways and maintained cover, a wry smile never falling from his face.
Thus far there had been no contact with the enemy. But that was not Aherk Fyyar's top priority. His sole concern was reaching the next link in the chain of his kill list before the Juicers did. And while the relatively slow movement through the facility's corridors was less than optimal, getting his backup killed was not going to help him any. Fyyar's interest in his small squad was purely utilitarian, of course, but he bore them no ill will; the more guns he had on his side, the better. And if clearing the building in a methodical manner kept them alive, then all the better. Not that it would be a problem, Fyyar observed; his old comrades had paid top credit for everything related to the project, and the security was no exception. Always in pairs, always communicating, and always maintaining cover of one another, the soldiers knew exactly what they were doing. Such ingrained training and such stoic professionalism would serve them well in the inevitable engagement.
Sir, the squad's leader chimed in as he entered a room, we've found it.
"Excellent," Formidonis replied, his voice low on the comlink, "I'm on the way. Have Eight secure the hallway. Sitrep on the second team?"
Second team reporting in, sir, a voice responded from the small device, we're setting the charges now.
As the armored goon swung behind him to take his place, Fyyar lowered his weapon and made his way through the series of cleared rooms to arrive at his destination. Going all the way to the ceiling - not at all unlike his own ramshackle assembly on Kamino, the building's databank stood before him and two of the squad. While the towers were tall, they were also incredibly archaic, and there were only four of them; a total data yield of eight terabytes at best. Clearly, top credit only went so far. Though, to their credit, Fyyar would have done the same thing; this facility was not meant to be the central hub of the project, and having all of their data here could spell disaster. After all, what if a brilliant, unhinged man with vengeful purpose decided to hunt down the top leaders?
"Begin a bypass and secure the data. I want everything here in the next five minutes."
The squad leader nodded and began barking orders into his comlink, oblivious to Fyyar's true purpose. While he was only looking for a very specific bit of data, requesting such specific information - information that anybody really paying attention to his web of lies would have known he should have been able to access at will anyway - would have sent up more red flags than he cared to deal with. But under the guise of a total data rescue mission, Fyyar would be able to parse through the data completely unimpeded. And for him, combing through terabytes of data would be the work of seconds.
One minute passed. As did another. On the third, the squad leader approached him.
"Sir, we have everything downloaded."
Formidonis nodded his head. "And the second team? We ready to play?"
"They're ready when you are."
"As it just so happens, I am. Let's do it."
With a quick nod, the squad leader spoke into his comlink. Turning back towards the hallway, Fyyar raised his weapon and waited. One second passed. As did another. On the third, the building was plunged into darkness as charges laid by the second team detonated, tearing the building's power generator to shreds. For all Fyyar knew, it would buy them only a few minutes of concealment before the backups kicked on. But for a building this size, a few minutes would be all Fyyar needed, Juicers be damned.
As soon as the darkness fell, Fyyar and the men with him moved into the hallway and made a break for the offices on the top level of the building.
