The LAAT/i's and Transports ferrying the various ground vehicles continued their descent through the air. The V-wing Airspeeders split off from the main group of Transports and LAAT/i's and begun doing patrol fly over's of the city as the Transport's and LAAT/i's landed just outside the City limits and deployed the vehicles and troops of the Imperial Storm. General Zahn lead the column of Commando's, followed by the array of vehicles, as he made his way through the Caridan District towards the central government building. The newly relocated refugees/locals got out of the way as they watched the procession of armed troops walking into their city. They recognized the Strom Commando Armour that the bulk of the force wore, as well as they customized suits worn by the few commander's. Some of them had seen this army before, and most of them knew it was futile to try resist a heavily armed force, regardless of where it's allegiances laid. General Zahn removed his helmet as he walked up the steps of the government offices, as several officials came out to meet him. Several holo camera's floated through the air, to stream the ensuing meeting to all those throughout the city. The government officials gave a bow to General Zahn as they came to a stop a couple feet from him Greetings General Zahn, welcome back to Carida. Pray tell us your reason for this visit? I am here to rectify a situation which I should have taken action against long ago. Twice the Republic has been your protectors, and twice they have failed to protect our home from destruction. That is why I, General Zahn, shall take stewardship of Carida and it's people. The Law Makers of the Republic have failed to do their job. Just as in the past when the Empire once protected Carida, now the Imperial Storm shall do the same. Not once during Imperial control did Carida come under such threats as when the Republic were in control. We shall return the prosperity that Carida enjoyed under Imperial control, and once again the Carida Academy will supply our forces with the best Imperial officers and Soldiers the galaxy has ever seen. I seek to protect my fellow people, just as you seek to serve them. Imperial mandate will resume. Do you have any objections? Not at all General. We shall get onto it right away General Zahn nodded to the Government Officials who retreated back into the Government Office and started sorting out the re-implementation of the Imperial Mandates. Zahn nodded to his Colonel's who then took their respective battalions and spread through out the city. The 1st Battalion set up in and around the Government Office, while the 2nd through 5th Battlions set up in each of the four cardinal directions. Until a planetary defence force could be raised, the Imperial Storm would have to fulfill that role, but Zahn was more than confident in the Academy's ability to turn out an army. Zahn then made his way inside the Government Office and went up to the governor's residence, where several Commando's were already standing guard. It almost felt like being home, except his home was now more the quarter's he had aboard The Warlord's Fist, so if anything it was like being in a hotel. Zahn went over to one of the computer's and started doing some research into possible ground and orbital emplacements, whilst also going through intel reports sent from the Fist

A couple months passed on Carida, during which the Carida Academy put out a new crop of recruits that were all inducted into the Carida Imperial Defence Force, whilst a series of vehicles and artillery were purchased from various manufacturers around the universe. 2 w-165 planetary turbolaser and 1 v-150 anti-orbital ion cannon were purchased alongside the other defences and were set up in a triangle formation on the outter edges of the city. 7000 Storm Commando's were divided into 5 Battalions and stationed throughout the city. Meanwhile 160 SPHA, 160 Mobile Proton Torpedo Launcher-2a, and 160 AV-7 Antivehicle Cannon were dotted around the city in fireteam groups of 1 SPHA, 1 Mobile Proton Torpedo Launcher-2a, and 1 AV-7 Antivehicle Cannon. 160 Low Altitude Assault Transport ran patrol's over the city whilst also moving unit's around from their barracks to their patrol routes

With the Local Defence Force established, the Battalions of the Imperial Storm stopped their patrols and took up residence in 5 barrack that were equally positioned from the main government buildings in a 5 pointed star pattern. The Imperial Storm maintained a personal guard that followed General Zahn from the shadow's, ensuring he was kept safe and allowing the various politicians to believe they were trusted. Zahn didn't fully trust any of them however, a good deal of them were still republic supporters and would do their best to try and remove him from power the first chance they got. They would try, but ultimately they would fail. General Zahn had a constitution the likes of which few had ever seen, if he got knocked down, he got right back up and beat the living hell out of who ever had the gall to challenge him. Many of them were unaware of the fact that Zahn had been a subject/product of a Genetic Engineering project that his parents had conceived a few years before Zahn's birth. They had taken samples of their own DNA and targeted specific genetic markers related to speed, strength, intelligence and regeneration, before combining them and eventually giving birth to Zahn. He was their only child, he was also their greatest creation.

Slowly but surely, General Zahn rooted out the last of the Republic sympathisers that had still been in power since Zahn had taken over Carida and declared it the official base of operations of the Imperial Storm. The Storm Commando's had done their job's admirally of rooting out any trouble makers and ensuring the local populace supported the Imperial Rule, even if there was yet to be a strong Imperial force to emerge in galactic politics. Some could argue that Zahn was merely a relic of a bygone time and was foolishly waiting for an impossible future, but Zahn knew that is was an inevitable conclusion that the Empire would return. The Republic had been slack in it's duties, it's senators preffering to play games of cloaks and daggers, over actively strengthening the Republic and banding together. Eventually someone with a great deal of power would rise up and say enough was enough and they would reform the Empire. It was merely a matter of time and patience, then when the Empire rose he would be there to greet it and join it's ranks to fulfill his duty in life as a great General and he would have his revenge against those who had destroyed his world. He would find them, and then he would tear them limb from limb

Zahn had been watching the HNN when Sinitra had made the headlines by announcing the rebirth of the Galactic Empire, and that it's seat of power would be on Kuat. He grinned briefly, before grabbing his comm link from the table and turned it to the Command Channel, which only the Battalion Commander's had access to All Battalion Commander's are to report to my office ASAP. He then clicked off the comm link and placed it in one of the pockets in his armour. At long last the Empire had finally returned, just as he had predicted it would. For too long the corrupt Republic had held the reigns, now it was time for the Galaxy to revert back to a time when there was control and direction. Once again, an age of purity would rule and from it, a great many things would spawn. A few moments later, all five Battalion Colonel's arrived in Zahn's office and lined up in front of his desk, wondering what orders Zahn would have for them today. Nam and Uther had been watching the HNN in their respective Barracks and so they had a feeling they knew what the General was going to do. Zahn stood up and nodded to them Ladies and Gentlemen, just as I predicted, the Empire has risen again! Once again we shall serve the Emperor! And I shall begin to seek my vengeance... Nam, you and the 1st Battalion will be joining me on this trip to Kuat. Uther is in charge in my absence. Dismissed. The Commander's nodded, before Zahn lead Nam out of his office and through the government building to a hangar where a gunship was waiting. Nam put out a Battalion wide comms to the 1st Battalion to load up and head up to The Warlord's Fist, before hopping into the gunship with Zahn. The Gunship then took off and headed up into orbit, before the LAAT Troop Carriers and Vehicle Tranports of the 1st Battalion took flight, loaded with the 1st Battlion Troopers and Vehicles, all headed for the Fist up in orbit. Meanwhile, Uther set up setting things in order whilst Zahn was gone, issuing orders to Fiora, Abegail, and Kel, who went about taking care of them. Uther then took the seat behind the desk, although he did not expect any trouble, he was going to make sure they were prepared for it just in case. The Republic could be waiting for something like this to happen before striking, that or the failed organization known as GALSAF might seek to try and strike out here. After all, the Imperial Storm was similar to GALSAF, in that they were a fairly independant organization, except they were just a more honest about their goals then GALSAF

Blood began to bloom through the white uniform of an Imperial Grand Admiral, soaking through the fabric, growing larger, as if it were blooming into a corsage over the heart. It was not a death that would ripple through Galactic Empire in a similar way, as the victim was only a Grand Admiral in his own twisted mind, and the Empire was all but extinguished...their fire has gone out of the universe. Most of his clientele were once Imperials, now vaporized dust from battles. A few retired, and burned on as pitiful embers until their glow ended with a silent stream of smoke.
Such a stream emanated from Sol Canto's Bothan Needler as Yintarian, Sol's copilot and partner, walked out of the refresher and noticed the corpse.
"Duat's suh'tin yo dunt sah e'ry dah...blahd onna Impah'e'o Gray'iund Admal's unahfarhm." the Kubaz said, adding a tone of humor to his nasally Basic. “Haz die clin'in bail wail buh ho'endus.”
Sol smirked as he placed the Needler back into the concealed holster on his leg. "Something tells me that's not a big priority...anyway, the bounty was for his head, not his uniform."
The pair carried the body from the empty corridor of the Carida Academy a few meters to the office of Admiral Ekon, the man who posted the bounty on the delusional individual. After slicing the door, they placed the corpse in the admiral's chair and locked the door behind them, careful not to leave any trace of their presence. The two quietly made their way back to their ship, where R6-D9 was prepping the KR-TB “Doomtreader” for departure.
The precautions, though not entirely necessary, added an air of terror to the reputation of the bounty hunters. When the client sees the corpse of the bounty in a highly-secured area, payment is transferred very quickly as such a demonstration of skill removes a client's veil of safety from those he hired.
It took no great effort to move through the corridors to the hanger undetected, as the Academy was empty and would remain uninhabited for the next couple of hours. Though Sol was tempted to hack into the mainframe and gather information to sell or use for his own benefit, he didn't enjoy spending anymore time around an Imperial Academy. Though he had fond memories of attending the academies on Raithal and Corulag, the majority of his thoughts lingered on the commanding officers rerouting his future from the highest ranks of the Imperial Army and Navy to the barren outposts, where his talents would remain unnoticed and his years of service rendered unremarkable.
Upon reaching the ship in the hanger, R6-D9 lowered the ramp for Sol and Yintarian to board. Once in the cockpit, the droid closed the ramp and locked it. After a few moments, the steam jets activated and the repulsorlift carried the ship up and out of the hanger. Sol activated the sublight engines, and Catch 23 entered the upper atmosphere of the planet.

The stream of AALs and Vehicle transports descended down to the surface. A landing zone had been marked just beyond the city. Even though the Warlords fleet had retreated, his army still remained. As the AALs touched down, the First Legion began to pour forth from their dropships, before aiding the unloading of the AT-AHT. It and its compliment were the only permanent artillery assigned to the First Legion. Harnan made his way over to the walking mess of cannons, admiring it for a moment, before launching himself with the force, up to the top of the AT-AHT's head.
The First Legion formed up around the walker, as the trio of AT-RCTs and Speeder Bikes deployed from its underside. Harnan opened a comm line to the Legion and ordered an advance. The customary traitor cry went up in reply, before they made their way towards the city, the main guns of the AT-AHT firing towards the defences

A cloud of troops and vehicle carriers descended upon New Carida's Caridan District, the capital of the planet. The markings upon their hauls depicted 2nd Imperial Division, led by General Flavius Suutrar. Around ten thousand of their troops and a large compliment of mechanized companies descended upon the LZ, allowing a flow of Stormtroopers, Repulsortanks, and Walkers to make for the frontlines. These troops formed the backbone of the Western advance, moving rapidly through the suburbs towards the more populated parts of the New Carida's capital.
Even within the suburbs, General Suutrar came in contact with defensive forces, security and militia both. The 2nd Division's advance slowed in order to eliminate these pockets and lines of resistance in order to open the front and continue spearheading the attack. Once more ground was covered, additional troops would be deployed.

*New Carida... a holdover from the previous Galactic Empire, according to Soku's records. They should have been quick bedfellows with the First Order... and yet, they had selfishly kept to themselves; Imperial warlords had taken hold to use the world for their own gains instead of those of the galaxy. This had made matters even more personal.
Law and Order had remained behind most of the fleet during the orbital assault, but, once they had pushed back the attacking forces, they had sailed through towards the surface along with the rest of the landing party. There they deployed Soku and Derel Ren, followed by the entirety of Thriesa Company. There was displeasure in the human Knight of Ren's eyes as he marched, his orange blade crying for justice. Derel kept his hilt at the ready but did not yet activate his lightwhip until they came within range of engagement.
Which did not take long, for the defenses of the capital city were already spread out, ready to engage with their invaders. Thriesa shifted formation, lead row activating shields while the row behind them opened fire with blaster weaponry. Soku continued to stand in the front, deflecting any stray bolt that came near him.
When they were fifty meters from their foe, the Knights of Ren broke from the Company, dashing forward, Derel's red whip coming to life. With blade and palm alike, they deflected the fire that came their way until they broke the front lines of their foe, tearing past their barricade and into the heart of their enemy. Those that still stood at the front had to elect their death: By the blade or by the advancing First Order troopers. But whatever their option, they needed not wait long for death to take them...*

General Suutrar, advancing from the western side of the capital, begins an armored advanced as smaller walkers and tank companies push hard upon the defending warlord forces. Even from the start, those enemies who sported the Stormtrooper armor were not real ones. He observed from them from his floating fortress, noticing their lack of cohesion and precision. It made the General of the Imperial Second Division if the Warlord of Carida was an Imperial in name... quite possibly he handed citizens, willing to fight, the means to, in the hopes that they would become Stormtroopers in the process. His eyes watch a cluster of them be ripped apart by artillery. What a bunch of rabble they were.
He keys his helmet to speak on an open frequency with First Order ground forces.
All divisions, the enemy lacks cohesion and formation. Begin aggressive stance and push for the center of the capital!
With a general advance order, the First Order infantry began to move forward with their armor blazing the path ahead of them.

Harnan remained atop the AT-AHT as the First Legion continued its advance from the south. The enemies blaster fire being absorbed by the shields. The AT-RCTs remained just behind the front line, raining laser fire down upon the enemy stormtroopers. The flametroopers dealt with clean up operations and anyone that managed to get past the front line. Harnan could see the enemies command center at the heart of the city from his raised viewpoint, as well as the location of the cities shield generator Let's open the skies to our friends above! The AT-AHT turned slightly to the left, firing upon the shield generator that could be seen just over the rooftops. It took several shots, with a few rounds hitting buildings around it, but the shield generator blew up a few moments later, bringing the shield over the city down

Upon seeing the shield go down over the heart of the city, General Suutrar gives the order to advance.
All units! All units! The shield is down, begin the final assault! For the First Order!!
He closes the top of his floating fortress as it lumbers forth, being outmaneuvered by the advancing infantry and mechanized divisions. Soon, the General thought, the First Order banner would be flying high above the capital and Carida would be reclaimed. He could only imagine how the self-proclaimed warlord was acting at this point.

*Thriesa Company met no equal as they continued to march on the city, their discipline outmatching the decadent troopers that had lacked the duty and resolve to keep their skills sharpened. Add in two considerably talented warriors of the Force, and they stood little chance. As Soku and Derel Ren carved a path, through which the Company marched and picked off enemy infantry, their foes became increasingly demoralized—or desperate. This only caused them to fall into further disarray, making them even easier targets before, despite that the Company was advancing into what should have been better-secured territory.
Soku scowled as his blade danced, displeased by the enemy units. He only took comfort in the notion that, soon, the world would once more be under proper Imperial control, and they would once again know order and discipline.*

The pacification of Carida is well under way, there are the usual thorns and unwanted stones in need of being removed or re purposed, but it wasn't anything that couldn't be handled by the First Order's propaganda machine and the local garrison. All things considered it was progressing rather well, though it would be some weeks yet before the civil unrest was completely quelled, but it had already died out in the major centers of civilization. The last few pockets would be dealt with in the coming weeks.

The shift from First Order to Empire was barely noticed in the daily lives of Carida's citizens. The label changed but the facts, those had long since been in place. They welcomed the new Emperor here, and looked forward to the prosperity and order his reign would bring them. The few who had reservations, were careful to keep those hidden away and far from the public eye.

Lieutenant Samuel Shaw was in many ways a rather bland person. His job was bland. It was mostly double checking orders & dispatches between various stations in the Core Oversector. Mostly things that would be happening in this very system as that was were he was based. His build was bland. He had a fast enough metabolism to avoid excess weight, but never seemed to hang onto muscle mass either. Even his features where bland. He was a sandy blond with brown eyes & a face that just sort of blended into the background. It didn't help his stand out any that he tended to be quiet, neat & withdrawn. His current ranks was due more or less solely on period promotions & he was a fair bit older than many of his coworkers with equal rank. He had shipped in with a lot of the others that had been with the First Order longer than the planet had, so his accent had a fairly strong Deep Core tilt to it. Only that & the few rather Imperial tattoos he had, but rarely showed off, made him special. Well other than the fact he was also a spy for the Infinite Imperium.

The orders had been fairly routine things, for the most part. The the recent assault on Brentaal IV meant that the number of patrols was higher than usual, and the escort missions in particular were beefier. Usually a couple older corvettes could handle most of the escort duties for a simple inter-sector convoy, now most had a frigate or several extra support vessels to bolster the usual escorts. The most unual thing about the missions flowing through his desk were the number of aid and public relations missions being run, by number alone the volume was several times that of any other First Order, sorry, Imperial now, op center. And at a cursory glance, they were all legit. A few were local scams, but Pellaeon had picked his staff as well as he could. It wasn't perfect but most held integrity and honor as virtues, and that kept business moving smoothly. And Investigations were rather thorough when flags got raised, particularly about corruption and abuse of power.
New Carida had very few refugees, but lots of new faces, with the recent change in power. For now it was a training world, mostly for the troopers and armored divisions, though a new facility was under construction for fleet personnel and pilots. Still that wouldn't be finished for a more months at least. The training regimens were fairly simple things, accuracy, resource conservation, and cooperation under stress. About twice a year, on a small Isle of roughly 2.7 million miles2 in area, the troopers could participate in a sim round exercise, the objective shifted every time and most troopers who could chose to participate. It was something to brag about, and it gave practical experience in using all the skill they'd honed. To many troopers were expected to take a few months of training and turn themselves into super-commandos, but that just wasn't possible. Here they refreshed themselves on old material, mastered basic skills, and occasionally learned a few new tricks too.

Shaw did as he always did, which was faithfully fulfilling his duties to the First Order, er, 'Empire'. To be fair, he actually supported them more than not. Judging from the fact that his actual nation was closer to the Empire than to the Alliance, it would seem that most of his people did. At least for now. Tides & opinions were fickle, even to mandos. Little did anyone realize that everything he saw, every line of report & coding note was recorded by a crystal wafer embedded in his skull, protected by a metal plate. Anyone checking his medical file would find a note about an early childhood injury & the metal plate that was used to secure his skull. A barbaric treatment, but then again, many planets had lost access to advanced galactic medical science with the collapse of a unified government. To all but the most detailed scan, it would simply look like a blank plate. To more detailed scans, it would appear to be studded with small nail like protrusions that anchor it to the bone. In truth, those projections were neural links that connected his optic nerve straight into the plate.
Each night at home, he would sit to listen to music on a pair of headphones. Of course, discretely slipped into one of the ear muffs was a coin sized disc. Like the wafer in his head, it was an extremely dense data crystal protected in a metal shell. The plate in his head was designed to broadcast the info over a very short distance when directly activated. While this meant it wouldn't broadcast under normal situations, the receiving device would have to be within centimeters of the broadcaster to pick up the signal. More than a dozen centimeters & the signal would fade into the background radiation noise of the planet. On the way to work the next day he would toss a few coins, including the disc, into a certain wishing well that was on his way to work. Unknown to him, one of the maintenance workers that cleaned that particular well was also a plant from the Imperium. Though her only mission was to collect the discs & pass them on to the next step in the process that would see the discs off world.

The Empire continued to progress into a more stable, orderly, and well oiled machine as citizens adjusted to the shift in routines. Local security forces were beefed and supplied with better tools even as they began their training in the new laws of the Empire. As things at home settled down, and solidified into a proper crystal of peace and power well balanced. Aurel expanded his operations, generating new numbers and requisitions. Some of the more discrete pilots were chosen for a new task, and assigned to a variety of recon vessels. They were sent prospecting, some of it was resource cataloging for future economic development, other bits seemed more strategic in nature, other bits seemed to have no real rhyme or reason. Hundreds of systems, side routes, shortcuts, and dead ends were all being explored. Most held less than a handful of celestial bodies, a small star, maybe a planet or two, some held asteroid rings, a few had a gas giant, others were merely clouds of gas. A few rare places hid things, those were tagged but largely left alone.
The location was all they recorded, some locations were more specific than others. But it was the less specific ones that were marked as of interest. Often, these were places that had local activity. The activity was investigated and often proved to be legal, but the ones that didn't... those got interesting. Within the oversector under Pellaeon's watch, thirteen had earned his particular interest. It was these systems that had been confirmed as being way-points for smugglers of a particularly degenerate breed, slavers. Three sectors had noticed the recon teams and were likely defunct now, but that left ten systems that needed to be looked into, carefully. Especially if any of the slavers had contacts within his organization. It'd be best if he took this on personally then, with a personal ship, crew, and army. That could land him in trouble, if it were exposed... still, for him, it was worth the risk. The first irregularity, was an old ship, mothballed for close to a decade, suddenly being serviced and then destroyed in a series of exercises. Just a Gladiator-class destroyer, but the lack of salvage crew reports, was ... odd.
It wasn't the only ship to vanish; but the others were smaller, mere smugglers vessels. And personnel were shifted, enough to crew the ships that had vanished... and a few more. What hadn't gone missing, were fighters or fighter pilots, or the necessary support crews... very odd given that the Gladiator-class was built as an escort carrier.
