Csaplar was the capital city of the planet Csilla and the Chiss Ascendancy. Csaplar was the center of the Chiss government, containing House Palace, the Expeditionary Library, the parliament, the headquarters for the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force, and the four ruling families. Csaplar was connected to every location of Csilla through an underground system of tubes.

Renan sat behind his desk, pondering the past, and it's implications for the future. Csillia had been wracked with civil war in the recent past, and while those fires were being steadily put out, much of the planet still lay in shambles. He had every available work crew and even some of the phalanxes working double time to repair the damaged transit tubes, to better aid the relief workers in reaching the whole planet once more. For now Csillia was just another barren ice world, to anyone looking down from orbit. That was as it should be. Those who found the place would be hard pressed to believe an entire civilization, or at least its remains, were buried under all the ice, unless they had been their before or gained the trust of someone else who had. The CEDF was mostly dispersed at the moment, to further the illusion, though a quick transmission would bring most of it running, should that be necessary. For now Renan focused his thoughts on rebuilding the world of Csillia into a functioning capital again, even if it never made it back to it's former glory. There was much to be done, and little that a man of skill set could do but wait and plan. So, he did. Most of his plans would never see the light of day, he knew that, but should the opportunity arise, he had a plan and knew how to execute it.

It had been a busy month, with gangs slowing work on the rails in one of the more devastated areas, an unexpected generator failure, caused a warehouse full of supplies to freeze, ruining much of the bottled water and packaged foods, that were to be used in the relief effort. Life continued to pick apart his plans and make things more difficult for everyone involved. Still, progress was made, and more and more of the capital was being rebuilt. The Citizens of Csapla were beginning to work together again, though tension was still rife throughout the city and the planet. Rumors of an impending outside threat was once again uniting the chiss people, slowly but surely. Renan himself didn't pay much head to the rumors, as he had substantial resources keeping an eye out for just such a threat, and nothing had come across his desk to that effect, at least not yet. He was no less grateful for its effect on the populous, and made the most of the slightly increased moral and order spreading across the planet. Slowly, Csilla was once again becoming a unified, and dangerous, world.

Four months later, Csaplar was mostly rebuilt, though much of the residential districts still needed to be rebuilt, the working building had been rebuilt. The rail system had been largely repaired with just a few lines still under re-construction. A shuttle was being prepared to visit the colonies, to see how they had fared in the civil war and the anarchy that followed. This was a time of maneuvering and posturing for those that wished to gain political power by being the first to step into the void left by previous officials. Those that used their positions well, were quickly promoted and given more power and responsibilities, those that did not, had a slightly disturbing way of vanishing without a trace. The planet was once more unified, more or less, under a new council of ruling houses, of which there were three on Csilla, each holding roughly equal power, though each held influence in different arenas. Part of the departing shuttles mission was to take representatives of each of the three houses to greet what remnants of the ruling houses they could out in the colonies, and bring their representatives back to Csilla to form the new council of ruling houses. Rumors of an impending threat are less urgent, but still hovering in the background, giving Csilla a restless air of purpose and mild defiance. Whatever came, the chiss people would stand and fight.

Csaplar, the once great capital of the Chiss Ascendency, is merely a shadow of it's former glory, like much of the current Ascendency. Much had been done to conceal the city, the whole world actually, from exterior forces. Some of it had involved creating asteroid fields were hyperlanes had once ended in open space, other parts included moving hyperspace beacons from previous positions of usefulness into positions of hazardous travel. For the city, it meant installing sensor dampeners in the ice just above the city, as well as shutting down most of the remaining inter-system trade companies and building systems and facilities that boosted the planet's self sufficiency and created a large number new jobs to employ the many ravaged masses of the planet, as well as offered substantial strategic value and strength. Renan had been implementing many new socioeconomic reforms and turning the "gangs" into local militias, with specific goals and tasks necessary to rebuild Csaplar. This was working out surprisingly well, though some cells were showing a proclivity towards corruption, which was being very carefully monitored and recorded by the Intelligence operatives working for Renan and the slowly precipitating governing council.

Almost a year after his rise to power as the current head of house Nuruodo, and incidentally all of Csilla, Renan had much to be proud of, and he did, but he rarely took time acknowledge the feats he'd accomplished. Instead he spent his time working on the next big plan for the Ascendancy. Local businesses were still struggling to get back on their feet, as there was little money to spare, and few who could be bothered to spend what they could. The massive economic depression that Csillia, the entire ascendancy for that matter, had suffered as a direct result of the civil wars had taught many to work hard and hold on tight to what little they had. The work ethic was a nice bonus for the economy, but the hording wasn't. It was time to establish contact with another world, perhaps even another civilization, and to begin some kind of economic exchange. Renan hoped that this would provide the necessary inflow of resources to restart the Ascendancy's economy. He began studying the list of potential aids, and was grieved to find that few in the galaxy were prospering. Still, he had a few options available to him and evaluated each of them carefully.
The primary options seemed to be the rich but reclusive Or'dinii empire, another option lay in the Exchange, a criminal organization that was making excellent profit off the corrupt in the galaxy, yet another option lay with the mandolorian empire, though he was very wary of establishing contact with a state at war. The republic was too corrupt, and the IR seems to have finally been completely dissolved, though there were whispers of an empire in the deep core, more trouble than help had come from that corner of the galaxy and Renan decided to leave it well enough alone. Jedi and Sith, though not necessarily poor, rarely shared resources in a mutually beneficial manner. And no word had been heard of the Vong or the state of their affairs. It was time to send feelers into the galaxy, and see what happened. Renan made his decision and drafted the necessary orders himself, signing and sending them as soon as he could.

As the ruling council, seven heads of expertise, seeks to continue building the internal strength of Csilla, they review the local militias and their respective progress. Many have served well, and are awarded commendations, and occasionally more responsibilities. Some had failed to achieve their objectives, none of which were particularly difficult, and so were dissolved into the more responsible militias. And the most responsible militia's were given supervisory details over surrounding militias. The Ascendancy was once again becoming a power in the unknown regions, and their unity was at an unusual high. Higher than it had been in recorded history, with only a 6% dissension, accounting for every kind of dissension.

Life went on, people were born, people died. Conditions continued to improve around Csaplar as the ruling council guided the reconstruction efforts. Education was receiving a large portion of the funds and other resources, training the next generation of Chiss to pick up wherever this one leaves off and just keep going with it. Defensive production, training, and construction take up the second largest piece of the budget pie. It would be a real shame to build up so much new infrastructure just to have some outsiders walk in and wreck everything again. Surprisingly things were going quite well, everything seemed to be working out the way it was planned. A much appreciated boon, considering the bitter years of the not to distant past, though no one expected it to last for very long.

Reconstruction was officially over, a few areas still showed the scars of the civil war, but the world was once again a fully functional capitol for the Chiss Ascendancy. Diplomatic envoys had been sent to the various colonies and each had been re-admitted into the ascendancy on terms specific for each world, all things considered there was a rising cultural pride in the Chiss people. In some corners of the Ascendancy that meant a rise in racism as well, though in most places it was more patriotic than racially oriented. The ascendancy wasn't the isolated unknown it had been a millennium ago, many new species had sent representatives, or had representatives brought, to seek their own fortunes among these uncharted stars. A few of the colonies had been facing difficulties of their own, one out right invasion, with two others suffering from raiders. The invasion force had been neutralized but the Ascendancy was expecting to see new arrivals of like kind rather soon. The raiders had easily been "convinced" to find softer to find softer targets. The Ascendancy's strength was nearing historical standards in the realm of physical numbers and raw data while reaching record highs in the realm of individual and collective personnel performance. Many outsiders would marvel at the near total lack of individualism while still observing an overflowing font of creativity in the populace. And marvel they should, but the reason for it was left a secret, a secret hidden in plain sight. The economy is growing steadily and infrastructure is racing to keep up, the abundance of work and willing workers is keeping things moving forward at an amazing pace. The most amazing thing though, is their diligence and integrity, no corner is cut that needs not be cut, while no expense is made that need not be spent, the immense balance of the entire Ascendancy seems to leveling out after having been so brutally and thoroughly shaken just a generation ago.

First Order Mission Log: Dracus, Cain/Inspection/Service#C465546 Time: 0500 hours (Standard Military Time) Location: Csilla, Unknown Regions. En Route to Csaplar.
The two Gamma-Class ATR-6 Assault Transports flew in low and fast towards the main surface entrance to the Chiss Capital of Csaplar, trying to avoid detection. Since their encounter with a small squadron of Clawcraft and a two AD Towers, they hadn't encountered any resistance...yet. But that was about to change. The defenses of Csaplar were beginning to stir, noticing the disappearance of a Clawcraft squadron and from reports undoubtedly coming in from the Chiss Fleet in orbit. As the two transports cleared a section of glacial cover, the entrance to the city could be seen. As could the defenses. It appeared as though several of the Chiss Megamaser cannons from their Star Destroyers had been retrofitted and established as primary defenses against an attack. And the Chiss must have been waiting for them. Several Megamaser blasts rang out. With a loud explosion followed by a violent and sudden descent, the Transport Cain was on nose dived to the ground. The trooper bay began filling with an acrid black smoke and then suddenly, with a bone jarring THUD the transport came to a halt in the ice. Cain and a good majority of the Stormtroopers in the bay were tossed about. And that's when Cain was greeted with nothing but blackness, being rendered unconscious.
The second Transport launched a volley of missiles at one of the Megamaser Cannons. It disappeared in a ball of fire. As it arched back around, the Transport took several minor hits. The pilot expertly maneuvered the craft back around the cover of a glacial ridge and set it down. The bay door opened and out poured forty Stormtroopers. Moving with a precision honed by intense training, the troopers set up a perimeter and formed a defensive line at the top of the ridge. Several troopers stationed themselves on the ridge, keeping the enemy occupied. Two teams of six formed up and headed out towards the downed craft, hoping to reach it and rescue their comrades before the enemy moved onto their position.

First Order Stormtrooper Corp. Mission Log: Sgt. Marek, John/Inspection/Service#F047772 Time: 0515 hours (Standard Military Time) Location: Csilla, Unknown Regions. Retrieval Op. 10 km from Csaplar.
Sergeant Marek led his team of five other Stormtroopers through the snow and ice towards the downed transport. The craft was billowing thick plumes of black smoke into the sky. A beacon to enemy forces, giving away their location. Several rounds from a Charric lanced past his location, forcing the Sergeant down into the snow. Bringing his rifle up, laying prone in the snow, Marek sighted in on the Chiss soldier and fired three shots. All three shots connected center mass on the soldier, dropping him quickly. And then Marek was on the move again, bolting towards the downed transport. As he approached, he saw several of his brethren had set up a defensive perimeter around the downed craft. They were holding off the oncoming Chiss, though only just.
F047772 requesting close air support. Repeat, we need air support, danger close.
A reply rang through from the still operational Gamma-Class Assault Transport.
Negative 047772. Our vector is too hot for air support. I suggest you work at clearing up some of that AA fire first.
Marek cursed under his breath. This situation was turning from bad to shit storm real fast. If they couldn't establish a foothold on the planet, then the High Admiral's brazenly bold tactic would be all for nothing. They needed to find a way to gain the upper hand...

Cain's eyes snapped open. The sounds of battle could be heard outside the now vacant trooper bay of the Gamma-Class Assault Transport. Cain rose to his feet, somewhat unsteadily, anger starting to course through his veins. How dare these ignorant Chiss lash out against the First Order!?! The First Order was driven to bring order to the galaxy and these Chiss thought they were above such a thing. Now they would be taught a lesson. Now they would learn what happened when one defied the First Order. His body ached all over and his head was throbbing nauseatingly. But he pushed through it. He retrieved his lightsaber from his belt and gripped it tightly in his right clawed hand. He spun the hilt around so the emitter was pointed away from him, facing behind him. He thumbed the activation stud. The uncompressed red blade sprang to life with its usual snap-hiss. Cain clambered out of the bay and surveyed the scene before him. Fifteen of the forty troopers that had been in the bay were spread out and dug in, firing at the slowly advancing Chiss line. A pile of dead troopers was piled near the side of the downed craft. Cain turned his head and stared at the dead for a few moment, contemplating. As he did so, he could sense an incoming Charric bolt. Without looking, Cain twirled his lightsaber. The bolt connected with the blade and was deflected, but the impact of the bolt sent a jolt through Cain's arm. He scowled. He spun his head around and located the source. Cain turned his whole body to face the threat, crouched low and tensed up. Delving into the Dark Side of the Force, Cain launched himself forward at tremendous speed. Within the span of a few seconds, Cain had closed the thirty or so yard gap between himself and his prey. With a quick flick of his wrist, without slowing down at all, the Chiss soldier was decapitated. The headless body slumped to the ground. And Cain kept charging forward, deflecting charric bolts as well as blaster bolts. After downing several Chiss soldiers, Cain skidded to a halt. He twirled his lightsaber around and glared at the Chiss before him.
"You cannot break the Ascendancy. We will emerge victorious this day!"
And that was the last sentence the soldier was able to speak before Cain sliced off his head. Cain looked up and saw the Stormtroopers pushing forward, while the Chiss Soldiers were falling back to the cover of the Megamaser Turrets. The Chiss were feinting a retreat, hoping the First Order would throw themselves against a position of superiority. Cain chuckled to himself. If the Chiss wanted a fight, he'd give them one. Cain spun on his heel and sprinted back to the downed transport. As he approached the pile of corpses, he withdrew several syringes from his belt. Each one contained the liquid form of the Dracus Infection. After ripping the helmets off of several stormtroopers, he stabbed each of them in the neck with a syringe and pushed the plunger down, injecting them. Cain rose to his feet and backed away from the pile as several of the corpses began to twitch and spasm. With a terrible screeching groan, several of the corpses rose to their feet again. Cain felt the presence of the Dracus through the Force. Cain spoke to them telepathically.
You have been created to do MY bidding. You are the culmination of several decades of biological planning. Go forth and consume the Chiss! With each death their ranks will shrink and our will grow! Go forth and infect this defiant children!
Several of the corpses began moving forward, shambling at first, but then they began to pick up speed as the infection took hold completely. They infected corpses sprinted at full tilt past their former Stormtrooper brethren. Several helmeted heads swiveled back and forth in confusion. That's when Cain's voice rang out over the comm.
Do not shoot your fallen brethren. Instead, move forward with them as if they were still your brothers at arms. They are harmless to you so long as you do not get in their way. Transport Bravo 29, prepare to move up and provide close air support for our advancing troops! That is a direct order!
Cain ignored the comm chatter after that. Instead, he gathered the Force around him once more, and sprinted off towards the retreating Chiss lines. Straight into the mouth of the Krayt Dragon.

First Order Mission Log: Dracus, Cain/Inspection/Service#C465546 Time: 0530 hours (Standard Military Time) Location: Chiss Capital Csaplar, Csilla, Unknown Regions.
In the span of fifteen minutes, the Dracus Combat Forms had raced across the gap between the downed Gamma and the first line of Chiss Defenders. Despite taking several killing blows from a Charric, the Combat Forms merely staggered, but kept pressing. Some dozens of yards behind the Dracus line, the First Order Stormtroopers were pushing forward as well, backed by the air support of the lone Gamma-Class Assault Transport. With the greater majority of the Chiss spacecraft engaged with the First Order, there wasn't much in way of air support for the Chiss on the ground. Which suited Cain just fine. The red blade of his lightsaber wavered as he cut down another Chiss soldier. As he strode away from it, a small tentacled sack of flesh wandered up to the fallen Chiss. After crawling over the corpse, it pierced the flesh at the nape of the neck and slide a small, hollow bone spike into the cluster of nerves. The corpse began to twitch. As the Infection form took hold of the corpse's nervous system, it brought up three of its tentacles and began to burrow into the chest of the corpse. Had the soldier still been alive, it would have been a horribly painful process. The Infection form began to burrow under the flesh. As it did so, it began to shrink in size, crawling in between the ribs and finally taking up residence next to the heart. The corpse began to violently twitch now. As it did so, the Infection form secreted a green-brown sludge. The tentacles of the Infection form rapidly began spreading the sludge across the rib cage and over the now open wound in the chest. As the corpse rose up as a Dracus Combat form, the sludge hardened. This formed a protective cocoon around the relatively fragile Infection form, making it impervious to all physical trauma as well as any sort of blunt force. The cocoon was also highly resilient to blaster fire, especially small blasters. The Chiss Charric, however, would be able to punch through the cocoon. However, if one didn't know where to shoot, one could easily miss.
Out of the ten infected Stormtroopers, three had fallen in the assault. Regardless, two of them had still held sufficient biomass to morph into a handful of Infection Forms. As this happened, Cain made sure that the Chiss were the targets, not the Stormtroopers. Even the fallen ones. He hadn't wanted to pervert the corpses of those who served him, but the infection needed to start somewhere. Now that there were enough fallen Chiss, Cain had a decently sized group of Combat Forms. Numbering at twenty eight in total, thirteen had been in good enough shape to still retain the host's ability to wield a blaster. Two had been operating one of the Megamaser batteries, which now had been turned against the Chiss. So out of the original force of eighty troopers, Cain had fifty-five still fighting, not counting the ten he had turned. Combined with the Gamma Transport and his twenty eight Dracus Combat Forms he actually had eighty-three infantry units on the ground right now. And the entrance to Csaplar was nearly under their control. With the ferocity and pure, unrelenting drive of the Dracus, Cain knew this wasn't going to take much longer. All he had to do was find the Chiss responsible for coordinating the defense of the capital.
A massive explosion brought his attentions back to the battle at hand. One of the Megamaser batteries had just gone up, taking the gunnery crew with it. Beneath his helm, Cain grinned malevolently. He always enjoyed the rush and thrill that controlling the Dracus had brought him. With renewed vigor, Cain pushed harder against the collapsing Chiss defense. Soon he would have access to the capital. Soon.

All was pandemonium in the capitol building - the Chiss Senate, Cabinet, and Ruling Circle argued over one another in the massive amphitheater that was the House Palace. The House Phalanxes, along with Syndic's of the CEDF Hierarchy, similarly shouting at each other over military tactic and strategy. It was strange and foreign; the usually stoic and passive Chiss were caught unaware by the surprise attack of this previously unknown Imperial force, and, caught in weakness, were being obliterated in orbit. Even now, the first reports of Imperial forces on the ground were filtering in, along with strange shambling beasts.
In what had to be once in an age, non-Chiss had set foot on Csillan soil.
Quietly, in the wings of the House Palace amphitheater, Fawste Rostova, a Chiss Sage - an adjunct advisor to the assembly as a whole - silently watched the entire affair. There would be no consoling or counseling, his own voice would be lost in the mire and confusion of fear and raised tempers. No...rather, this was the time for action. The Palace was disorganized, more disorganized than Fawste had ever seen - and if there was a time for the Dominion to rise up out of the shadows, it was now. Standing, Fawste quietly exited the amphitheater, and, along with an escort of four of his Dominion Commandos, made his way to the palace's hangars. As he walked, he fished a comlink out of his pocket, and activating it, used the specially encrypted frequency that the Dominion had used on the planet for covert communication. : Callidus, Darrek, I sense opportunity. If we act now, we could speed up our plan by years. Callidus, direct your forces in taking over Csaplar defense, you would be most helpful in a military capacity. Darrek, sabotage a route from the city perimeter defenses to the Palace House - sabotage defenses and blocks that may prevent Imperial forces from reaching it. This new Imperial force can do our dirty work for us. I myself will attempt diplomacy with their leader. For the Dominion! : Clicking the Comlink off, Fawste and his guards entered the hangar bay, boarding Fawste's Commander Glider. Cycling its engines, the Glider's pilot spent the next few minutes coordinating with global defenses in evaluating the best point to exit the atmosphere - if need be - and Fawste himself brushed himself up on the status of the battle as a whole.

The Chiss people were unique in their status within the First Order. Unlike other species, these blue-skinned Near Humans were given rights to the point that they were equal in status to the Human dominated society that made up the Imperial nation. Though there still lingered a deep seeded resentment towards their new overlords for destroying their Ascendancy, measures were taken to ensure the population's loyalty. Regular holo transmissions, pre-recorded, sounded throughout the capital. They not only were from the Supreme Commander but Chiss commanders and officials who had joined the First Order's ideology and principles with open arms. As the Chiss military was rebuilt, a number of First Order garrisons dotted Chiss Space as a means to show protection and to keep the peace. No commander showed an inclination to repress the Chiss, though any signs would immediately mean their silence for good. As war loomed on the horizon, Chiss Space enjoyed a period of relative tranquility and peace under the banner of the First Order.

Despite the Battle of Dantooine's results, the Chiss people remained obedient to the First Order... or what was relatively seen. In light of recent events, Imperial Intelligence knew of some cells seeking to take advantage of the possible losses at Dantooine to their own means. Yet they were silenced by elements of the Imperial Shadowtroopers and other counter-terrorist forces before their plans came to light. Those remaining that were still active went dark not long after, realizing the power of the First Order was hardly unaltered by the results of Dantooine. Chiss administration continued to rebuild the war-torn sector of the First Order, with help of funding from Imperial Civil Services that helped relocate former Empire of Thrawn Chiss from Nirauan to their true homeland. The gesture was highly appreciated by the Chiss government under the First Order.

Csilla . . . an icy world of immense glaciers and snowy plains, nestled somewhere deep within the unknown and predominantly uncharted reaches of the greater galaxy. Cold was an understatement for what this planet truly was, the temperatures so low that one might question the very sanity of any that chose to live here.
Csaplar, once the great capital of the great Chiss Ascendency, homed thousands, if not millions or billions of Chiss, the native sentient being to this world. Their blue-silver skin and similar hair with glowing red eyes was indicative of what one might expect to see from what limited knowledge existed of their race. Among them on this day was a male Chiss of the great Ruling House of Nuruodo, the last great House to have ruled the Ascendancy and see its fall to its current state as an shadow operation absorbed into the ever growing First Order. Kes'ven'nuruodo, or Svenn as he was commonly referred to by lesser beings, walked among his homestead, here - a frothy apartment nestled deep within the planet's capital. The home wasn't much to behold as it resembled many of the other housing complexes in the area, clean and technologically adept.
He carried about him, a sense of duty and loyalty; obedient for the time to this new order that had claimed the governing authority over his people.

Imperial banners waved high within the Government District of Csaplar, the capital of the Chiss Administrative Zone, a sector within the First Order's vast Unknown Region territories. A new leader had been elected by the governing body, one who was a retired commander of the now Imperial Military, with the Chiss elements having been absorbed into its ranks. Commissars had ensured his election, believing he was the best Chiss for the job, due to the respect he had within the military and among the Chiss people. The Supreme Commander saw this victory as a further means to ensure the Chiss remained under the sovereignty of the First Order. He could not let a populist gain power among these people, else a bloody war would certainly ensue.

A major shift was occurring. Vlusu had deduced from his various friends and informants, along with his own observations, that the Supreme Commander was preparing for something big. Seeing as a peace was about to take effect, the only logical answer was some large reforms. He knew the Supreme Commander as a stable, rational fellow. It was only by logic then, that he was not about to betray the Galactic Alliances peace treaty. This, combined with the unusual amount gusto shown by hardline Imperials, led him to believe that Nicademus was going to be declaring a new order, another Galactic Empire. Vlusu, anticipating this, made strides to prepare his people for the day that would soon be coming up. The Csaplar Palace was vacated, with the Aristocras moving to their private residences and meeting in the Ascendancy Council Building. Instead, Vlusu occupied the massive palace and made his residence there. The large, open plaza in front of the palace was being prepared for the Inauguration Day, with large banners being strung up and firework launchers put into place. A massive HoloScreen was put in place to show the Supreme Commander himself declaring the Empire to the throngs of Chiss that would flock to see this historic moment. For those who couldn’t make it, the speech would be broadcasted live on the Chiss Holonet. In addition, a massive renaming program was neing put in effect. The Avenger was renamed the Fortis, and the Discovery was named the Praeclarius. The massive Bastion of Death was renamed the Imperialis. Long had the Chiss People been supportive of such Empired, and they would make this a day to remembe Artists Impression of House PalaceAboveground Replica of Plaza
