The squad of Hapan Guards were on their usual routine patrol. This involved going through several dozen office spaces that all looked much alike, making sure no one was where they shouldn't be. Given the usual course of these rounds, the guards were in a more relaxed mood. It had been many years since anyone had tried to break in to any of these places. As they entered this office, they looked over to the pair whom they assumed were a part of the inspection team. Of course a pair of men would be slacking off on the job like that. The squad moved through the row of cubicles, with the Guard Captain slightly ahead of the rest of her team Hey! Slacking off on the job are you....

Tally knew they were in trouble the moment the guards entered the room. At this stage he wouldn't be able to hide the fact he was in systems he really shouldn't be in. The chances that none of the guards would recognize that fact would be next to nothing. On top of that, the terminal itself should not even be activated, let alone accessing secure systems. Since he wouldn't be visible due to the cubical dividers, Tally signaled to his watcher to keep the guards distracted. If they got close enough to look into the cubical, things would get very interesting. On the other hand, he would be able to launch a rather nice ambush if they did get close enough to see. Just because he couldn't close the program down didn't mean he couldn't leave the computer to its own devices for a minute or two.

Regretting that he had decided to act as lookout rather than giving the task to someone like Fionnula who seldom has difficulty engaging in conversations ranging from the deep and meaningful variety to, more useful with the arrival of the guards, the more banal yet diverting variety, Faelan takes a mental breath and puts on a friendly smile as he moves casually away from Tally and closer to the where the guards are approaching to try and keep them from getting near enough to see what Tally is up to.
Rubbing the back of his neck as he chuckles, Faelan says, "Slacking off, no, not really. Bobbling his head back and forth as though admitting reluctantly to the possibility that the guard had been right, Faelan says, Well, alright, you caught us, maybe we're dragging our feet getting started just a little. Leaning casually against the side of cubicle, Faelan says with a sigh and a weary tone he believes befits his role as a cog in some vast corporate machine, You know how it is, lots of procedural nonsense to get through even before we get started, and, he rolls his eyes, then there will be all the fun checklists to start filling out once that is done. In a joking tone, he concludes, We'll stop slacking . . . I mean get started pretty soon, and be out of your way in no time at all."

The captain let out a condescending sigh as one of the two approached and started to rattle on about how hard his life was. Even after all these decades, there were still those that did not recognise their proper place in society Zip it! You should be privileged that such a task was even entrusted to you... She motioned to the guards behind her, with the first pair moving up to grab hold of Faelen, while the other pair moved to descend upon Tally. If these men wanted to neglect their duties, then so be it. They would quickly learn their place once more You will return to your work now, or suffer the punishment of... The pair of guards sent to seize Tally got close enough to see inside the cubicle then Hey! What are you doing?!

Tally was not what would be considered a large man. He was well below average on most civilized worlds. One thing he did very much have in his favor, however, was his speed. Data spikes were not generally given a second glance. After all, what could someone do with the connection port to a computer system? In any computer gear, the more likely thing to get closely watched would be the computer itself. However, it was still thin, long & metal. Held like a rapier, it functioned more like an ice pick. His first target would be the throat of the one to speak. By the time the guard rounded the corner & began to speak, Tally was already thrusting for the kill. If the first guard was hit, Tally would go for the first guard's sidearm. Surprise was still on his side, & he was planning on using the first guard as a human shield while he bled out.

Adopting a puzzled and somewhat frightened expression to appear less a threat than he truly is, Falean mentally curses when he hears the one of guards behind him asking Tally what he is doing in a tone that makes it abundantly clear that things have taken a definite turn for the worse. Without the benefit of a weapon, Faelan quickly determines that his best chances of avoiding being incapacitated or worse will be getting in the middle of the remaining guards and their captain so that he cannot be easily targeted without risking hitting one of their own, and so raises his hands as though surrendering as the guards approach him, stepping towards them to close the distance more swiftly.
As the guards come within striking distance, Faelan swiftly launches the heel of his left hand for the throat of the closest guard to try and crush their larynx while planting his weight on his right foot so that he can launch a side kick for the kidney of the guard captain in hopes of knocking her into the guards beside her to create more confusion to facilitate his efforts to engage those that remain to be dealt with as quietly and quickly as he can to prevent drawing more attention to the area . . .

The guard had indeed been taken by surprise as the data spike was thrust up into her throat. Her body falling limp into Tally's arms, while the second guard raised her blaster and started to shoot as she tried to take cover in the closest cubicle. Initially going for wild covering fire as she got herself into cover, before adopting a one knee stance as she fired around the corner of the cubicle.
The guards had raised their guns when their compatriot had asked what Tally was doing. Training them on Faelen as he appeared to surrender. The pair moved forward, while the Guard Captain had remained back a little, denying Faelen the chance to kick her in the kidney. Instead, he had managed to crush the first guards larrynx, while taking the second guard by surprise with the kick to her kidney. The Guard Captain fired a couple blaster pistol rounds from her hip as she sought to duck and roll off to the side, seeking cover in a row of cubicles. Meanwhile, the stunned guard tried to raise her blaster rifle and fire at Faelen, hoping to get a couple shots off before she could get a better focus on her target. The Guard Captain fumbled for her belt then, trying to hit the distress button on her comm link

With the dying woman providing all the cover he needed, Tally pulled her blaster from its holster & started unloading into the wall of the cubical. The guards were wearing armor, but the walls of the cubical would do nothing to stop a blaster bolt. At best the second guard would be partially out of sight. Tally made no attempt to try & hit the exposed parts of the woman, aiming instead roughly where the bulk of her body should be. He hoped that his escort was distracting enough to the rest of the guards though. Since while he had two layers of armor & a meat shield covering him from his main target, his back was covered only by the obscurity of the thin cubical walls.

Darting into the midst of the guards when he sees their captain raise her blaster to fire towards him, Faelan narrowly evades the bolts fired from her hip. Placing himself in the middle of the guards should make it more difficult for them to target him without endangering their comrades, while being alone means that Falean has no need to be as cautious.
Reaching out to grab the barrel of the blaster rifle the stunned guard attempts to train on him, Faelan jerks it so that it will, if he succeeds, instead target the captain that is reaching for the comlink on her belt. Whether or not the effort to alter the line of the guard's fire, Faelan steps towards the guard while launching an elbow for her nose, hoping he proximity to the guard is such that he cannot be targeted by the others and that the blow is forceful enough to cause her grip on her weapon to slacken enough that he can wrest it from her grip . . .

As the cubicle wall started to crumble, the guard was taken a little by surprise as parts of the wall flew off and the blaster bolts started emerging from the new opening. One of the bolts catching an exposed part of her side, causing her to stumble further in to the cubicle. But as she did so, she took up her opponents tactic and returned fire through the cubicle wall.
As Faelen reached for the gun barrel, the guard holding the rifle managed to move it just enough that the shots missed the Captain long enough for her to send out a distress signal. Meanwhile, the guard let go of her blaster as Faelen's elbow came up to her nose. With the distress signal sent, the Captain turned her focus on to aiming for the intruder. She did not hesitate to fire off several rounds then. Even if they did hit her fellow guard member, the man had already shamed her. Better to die in a fight, than live knowing a man bested you for even a moment

Tally felt the dying woman shudder under the impact of return fire. He hadn't expected to get a lucky hit in, but he had hoped. Switch the weapon to full auto, he sprayed the quickly disintegrating cubical wall in the area where the return fire seemed to be coming from. It would seem that the second guard had taken cover in the cubical next to him. He did have somewhat of an advantage though. He had more than twice the armor of the enemy, so a close quarters burnout firefight would be the quickest way to end this in his favor.

Gritting his teeth in frustration as the guard he had been attempting to wrest the blaster rifle from succeeds in preventing him from redirecting her aim at the captain, who, as a result, has the time to use her comlink that Faelan had hoped to deny her, Faelan feels and hears the crunch of the bones in the guard's nose as his elbow smashes into it. As the guard releases her hold on the blaster rifle, Faelan takes advantage of the disorientation his blow to her nose causes to move behind her, slipping his free arm around her upper arms to maintain his hold on her even when she is killed seconds later as the blaster fire the captain had meant for him hits her in the chest instead.
Knowing that the odds, already against them, are about to become even more unfavorable, Faelan sends a trio of shots towards the guard captain, aiming first for her head and then, factoring in her movements in response to that opening attack, sending his remaining shots for her center mass as he calls out for Tally's benefit, "We're about to have more company!" Pivoting so that the corpse shield he has employed will be primarily covering his front and left side, Falean uses his right shoulder to slam into the wall of the cubicle beside him, knocking it down so that he can duck inside for better cover. Keeping hold of the body of the guard so that he has the benefit of its protection a bit longer, Faelan drops into a crouch and opens fire on any guards visible from his vantage point in the cubicle, initially traversing the barrel of the rifle from side to side to deter any brave souls from trying to hold their positions long enough to take aim on him, and then beginning to more precisely target any of the guards that are not slain or deterred by his traversing fire. . .

The room fell silent as the last of the guards succumbed to the fire from the invaders. But in that silence, reinforcements were gearing up and bringing in heavier guns. The countdown was on for the Mandalorians to grab the data they were there for and get out. 2 full companies of Hapan Warriors were on their way from the capital, with gunships. Meanwhile, the other guards serving as foot patrols within the building were starting to converge on the office

After quickly collecting the gear from the downed guards, Tally rushes to join the rest of the group in the cold room. He had to trust that the other mando would know what to do without direction. The cold room was heavily armored enough & filled with enough valuable data, that the locals wouldn't risk the firepower needed to forcibly extract them. Of course, that meant an alternative exit was needed. Pushing a single hidden button on his comm informed the expo team that they would be needed & soon.
Once in the cold room, Tally laid out the revised plan.
-Tally We got compromised before we could pack up. Hostiles on the way. More likely inbound, but I don't expect those to get here anytime soon. Thanks to a little just in case planning. New job is as follows. One person guards the door. We can keep it braced open just enough to fire out, but not let a person in. The other three of us download every stack in the room. By that time, with any fortune, out exit window will be opening. Anything that isn't mobile when the window arrives gets left.
They would only have a few minutes, but that would likely be enough to get most if not all of the data. Assuming their window arrived intact. The Hapan gunship would meet a heavy ion surprise over one of the parks they would have to cross to reach their goal.

Cautiously rising from cover when the chaotic symphony of blaster fire, barked commands, cries of the wounded, and other sounds familiar to any battleground, Faelan takes a moment to collect comlinks and weapons from a few of the fallen Hapan guards before moving out for the control room to join the others.
Arriving in time to hear Tally informing the rest of the team of the current situation, Faelan passes comlinks, blaster rifles and sidearms to Tally, Lorcan and Fionnuala as he says, "I'll cover the door," reasoning that Lorcan, Tally, and Fionnuala are more familiar with the downloading process than he, and then clips one of the comlinks to his collar, figuring that he will not need to explain to the others that, unless the Hapan guards sure to be enroute think to change to another comm frequency, they will be able to listen in on their comm chatter and, if nothing else, gain a sense of how long they might have before they come under attack.
Sliding the sling of the blaster rifle she accepted from Faelan over her shoulder so that it hangs in an off-side drop position, Fionnuala accepts the news of their situation in a cool silence, hardly pausing in the task of downloading that she had begun as soon as she and Lorcan reached the room, and continuing to move with the same combination of expedience and precision that she had before once Faelan begins to brace the door open enough to permit him to fire out from it.
Lorcan, save for muttering a lengthy and creative string of curses in Mando'a, follows Fionnuala's example, continuing to work as quickly as he can despite the additional pressure that has been added to the situation given that their cover was blown all but instantly, though her greater familiarity with the type of work they are engaged in means that Fionnuala is more than a little quicker than he is.

Tally hadn't neglected to gather the gear off of the two Hapans near him, but we was encouraged to see that his 'guard' had the presence of mind to do the same. As the Door was the only way in or out, Tally leaves the spare weapons he looted in the command of Faelan. The door would need all the fire power it could get and accuracy would be less important than making the Hapans wary about leaving cover.
After that was handled, Tally joined the other two in working on the stacks. Like Fionnuala, Tally was an old hand at tech work & made rapid progress, though it was still nerve wracking having to wait to see if their window would appear at all. He didn't bother to tell the others this, but there was a small chance that they would be taken prisoner instead of escaping. A third team was standing by to break them out if needed. But he hoped it wouldn't come to that.
In an unassuming public park a small collection of food vender carts had gathered together, seemingly taking advantage of the shade to attract customers. This park, not so coincidentally, what directly in the path for the gunboats heading to counter team one. A spotter further down the line would give them enough advanced warning to complete the few steps needed for their surprise. Until then, they waited for the word.

Several squads of Hapan Guards converged on the room. Taking up positions at the various doorways into the office which lead to the data stacks. One squad managed a clear view from their door way to the data room and started opening fire upon the doorway. A pair of teams meanwhile breached the room from doorways that were separated from the data room by several rows of cubicles. Remaining behind what little cover the cubicles provided, they offered a second and third direction of fire toward the data room door.
Unlike Stormtroopers and Tusken Raiders, Hapan Gunships did not travel in single file. Their formation was kept wide, a tactic used to prevent concentrated fire from bringing them down easily. So, as the gunships passed over the unassuming park, only a handful of gunships hit the Ion trap that the Mandalorians had constructed. The powerless vehicles falling from the sky before crashing to the ground within the grounds of the gardens. The remaining gunships maintained their path. Their destination appearing upon the edge of their radar scans.
One of the Guards trading fire with the data room pulled out a shrapnel grenade and tossed it toward the doorway. The guards taking cover moments before the tiny explosive would detonate

The park trap was not just an ion weapon though, That was instead only the first part. A moment later, the freely tumbling ships were grabbed by tractor beams. While the beams weren't powerful enough to keep them from coming down completely, they did keep the ships more or less intact. Fortunately for the Mandos, it would still look like an uncontrolled descent to the surviving gunships. Within moments of crunching down to the ground, what had appeared to be random bystanders rushed up & slapped flat discs on each ship. They had been hoping to get more ship, but since that was more the case, they simply started doubling up.
There was a quick pulse timers, followed by a burst as the shaped radiation grenades went off. Without shields to protect them, the crews of the ships died just as effectively as they would have from hitting the ground. Suddenly, however, a lot of the civilians in the park seemed to strip off an outer layer to reveal Hapan military garb. It wasn't perfect, but it would by just enough confused time to get the drop on someone. The entire group had been hired piece meal from a wide range of pirate & mercenary factions. Most were female, but not all. Except for the now spent grenades, they also weren't armed. Nor had they been informed about the lingering effects of the radiation in the gunships. They were simply expendable after all. Once the ships had been opened up, the mercs would arm themselves with the gear from the fallen Hapans.
One quick reboot, helped by yet another piece of equipment waiting nearby, & the gunships were back on their way. With the change over time, plus pushing their engines, they managed to get to the landing pads while the other gunships were still unloading. Since they had failed at a full sweep, the captured gunships wasted no time, opening fire on the parked Hapan gunships & those troopers unlucky enough to still be onboard or on the landing pads.

Fortunately for all those in the data room, Faelan spots the guard throwing the grenade towards the doors while, dropping to a knee to change the height he fires at their rapidly growing number of foes from, he fires serveral short bursts of suppression fire from different angles before returning to cover.
"Find cover!" Falean shouts in Mando'a to his comrades as he scoots backwards and then crouches behind one of the data stacks just before the grenade goes off just outside of the doors, some shrapnel pinging harmless against the doors while some hurtles in between the small gap remaining after they had been propped open.
Hissing in pain as a piece of shrapnel slices though his left bicep, Lorcan curses and, helpful as ever, suggests in Mando'a, "Try not to let that happen again, huh? Uttering another string of curses as he gets back to work, Lorcan mutters, Shoot it outta the air or something, geez."
"Preeetttty sure that's only possible in the holovids," Fionnuala says as, glancing at the data stack she had sought cover behind as the sound of Faelan firing out at the enemy begins anew, she sees that it has been heavily damaged by some of the shrapnel that sprayed into the room, and then moves to the next and begins downloading.

The first couple of gunships carrying troops aboard touched on the roof and rapidly unloaded the Hapan Warriors, before taking off again, making room for the next pair of gunships which fell under fire of the renegade ships. The gunships still in the air begin returning fire upon the new enemies, concentrating their larger fire power upon the numerically inferior renegades.
The Warriors on the roof made a dash to cover, getting inside the building and started making their way down toward the level where the intruders were located.
The guards continued their back and forth with the Intruders, trading fire in volleys. But every once in a while, a shot from the Mandalorians found its mark, causing a couple of the Hapan Guards to meet their ends
