They had finally dropped out of hyperspace and begun their approach to Dantooine. It had been nearly a decade since she had last seen her homeworld. As she stared out the viewport from the co-pilot's chair, she felt as though she had been stabbed in the heart with a dagger of ice. It was like she was reliving her nightmares from five years ago, when she had been attacked by the Force Demon. The planet was burning. She couldn't speak, she could barely even think. She had seen other planets suffer through the assaults of the First Order, but this was different. This was her home. She had been born and raised here. She lost her parents here. She had last seen her twin brother here. This was HER home...and it was being destroyed before her very eyes.
How could this have happened? Why did the First Order have to come here? Dantooine was a remote planet, far from any significantly important galactic position. There were no military bases here. This was a peaceful farming world. Even the Jedi Enclave there was more of a retreat than a training academy. Why here? Why her home?
She wanted to close her eyes and stop looking at the devastation being wrought. She wanted to run from the cockpit and pretend that what she was seeing wasn't real. But she couldn't. The destruction had been seared into her eyes, mind and heart. There was no escape from this. A quiet sob escaped from her lips as tears began forming in her eyes, her bright blue eyes that held the spark of life and mischief. That spark had disappeared. Her parents were gone. Her brother was gone. Her grandparents were gone. And now, the only real home she had ever known, was gone.
Her fingers slipped from the controls and landed harmlessly in her lap. Tears now began to flow down her cheeks. She sat there, motionless and silent, staring out at the destruction.

"Doesn't look that bad from up here..."
"You have not seen many battles, then, young one." Jakk said grimly. Standing, he retreated to a locker just behind the pilot's seat - and opening it, began to don the combat armor and weapons held within.
"The First Order - the old Galactic Empire reborn. With all the same tenacity and brutality that the old Empire had. I never thought I'd live to see anything like it. And yet, there it is."
"No, Jedi. Do not fall into that trap - like so many of your compatriots below. The old Empire was a hammer, this one, this First Order, it is a scalpel. There is absolute fanatical loyalty in their ranks, their TIE pilots are defended by shields, their technology is advanced...these things and many more like them may separately be construed as a resurrection of the old Empire. But, taken together, they are far more disturbing: this is an entirely different organism, from their philosophy to their weaponry."
As he spoke, Jakk donned an armored flightsuit, strapping a DL-44 blaster pistol to his hip and a thin vibrorapier to his belt. Sliding back into the pilot's chair, he nodded at the planet below them. "Once we engage in the fighting, we will burn any diplomatic status we may have. I shall fly you in, deposit you on the ground, and then quickly fly away. You will have to make the remainder of the distance on foot. I shall do my best to cover you from the air - but be warned, that this craft has limited weaponry."
With that, the craft entered Dantooine's atmosphere, making its way to the war torn ground far below.

For anyone actively listening to the holonet, a several minute add came across. We are searching for a skilled pilot or pilots, interested in earning credits while proving their mettel. Interested applicants rendevous in orbit over Dathomir...It was brief, unspecific and mentioned being well compensated. But aside from that, there was no other information given. Hopefully worthy pilots found that more intriguing than anything else...

The entire Rage Fleet exited hyperspace above the planet of Dantooine, shields up and weapons ready for a fight. The usual posture for the Pirates. Starfighters poured from the Horror of the Rim and the support ships as the salvage operation began. Arkan had been passed word about the historic battle above Dantooine and the number of ships involved, his eyes lit up with greed as he thought of all the salvage. Of course no-one could see the excitement in his eyes behind his mask but he dispatched the Rage fleet which gave away his mood. Soon all the the capital ships, with the exception of the Horror, were latching themselves to large pieces of debris from the battle. The salvage operation was soon in full swing.
The Gozanti Cruiser, though much smaller than most ships designated "cruiser", was descending to the planets surface to scan for any good salvage left behind by the fighting on the surface. Once inside the planets atmosphere the cruiser deployed her four TIE fighters to scan for anything valuable.

After making the journey from Garang into Dantooine's orbit, Arduino brings their Crix-class diplomatic courier shuttle inside the hangar of Alliance Captain Merodach Cherney's MC90 Star Cruiser, the Maebh, and sets it down. Having sustained damage and losses in crew during the recent conflict with the First Order, the Maebh is operating with only slightly more than the required crew compliment, and less than full troop and starfighter compliments. Engineering staff work to repair what damage they can as the vessel prepares to get underway, focusing primarily on shields and armament in preparation for the battle to come.
Shortly after the shuttle has set down, the Star Cruiser, accompanied by two MC30c frigates, the Niamh and the Saoirse, maneuvers away from Dantooine's gravity well and enters hyperspace.
Continues here.

*A heavily modified ARC-170 Starfighter dropped out of hyperspace and maintained a steady orbit. Adonias transmitted landing codes and stated his business before he was cleared to land planet-side. With great skill, he piloted down to the surface and proceeded to land on one of the many platforms in the Dantooine spaceport. He was aware that the planet was known for its Jedi enclave but he had more pressing concerns to contend with.
The 17-year-old Mandalorian youth hopped out of his Starfighter, wearing his battle armor and equipped with his wrist gauntlets that came with retractable blades hidden within his forearm, his twin standard blasters holstered on his thigh, and with his vibrosword meshed with a cortosis alloy within the scabbard on his back. He paid his docking fee and wandered further into the spaceport.
Adonias ignored the curious stares and discernable whispers as he walked further into the bustling marketplace and approached a vendor. He rented a speeder bike and after activating his HUD within his buy'ce he followed the designated route he programmed that would take him out into the wilderness.*

Jensen had made a slow approach to orbit, using the time to get used to the Skyblind's controls. Its sensor feed was impressive, though he had no time to fully explore what she could and couldn't see in the blackness of space. Picas had issued instruction to head to Geonosis, and to this end Jensen had accessed the navicomputer. He was pleasantly surprised at the quantity of destinations available. This ship was definitely designed for covert and extended missions.
It took a few minutes to warm up the hyperdrive and, just to be sure, Jensen completed a quick diagnostic of the navicomputer and related systems before launching the sphere into hyperspace.
Meanwhile, Picas was already asleep.

Emerging from hyperspace, the SR-2 Stealth Frigate, OSV Black Widow, engaged its stealth systems as it crept closer to the planet. In the hangar bay on board, Operative Strahovski climbed aboard a Kodiak-Class Troop Transport.
"Here is the search grid. Let's get down there and see if we can find out target, shall we?"
Miranda handed a datapad to the pilot as she took a seat within the passenger bay. As the shuttle was launched from the ship, it descended towards the vast, verdant farmlands of Dantooine.

Imperial Intelligence had been aware that Dantooine was a hub of rebel and seditious activity for a while now. Deputy Director Valen had opted for a subtle and careful approach to deal with it. Instead of sending stormtroopers to immediately launch raids and institute a crackdown, he had been carefully embedding agents within the growing number of rebel cells for months, allowing I.I. to uncover more cells and rebels and limit the number that would go to ground as soon as a crackdown began. Three days ago a number of bombings had been reported on Dantooine, ostensibly perpetrated by resistance cells. The reality, known only to a select few, was that it had been perpetrated by Imperial Intelligence as a false flag attack.
For a number of months a rotation of cloaked Indictor Class Corvettes had been monitoring Dantooine and handling operatives on the planet. But now it was time to strike. The Conservator Class Star Destroyer Dominator exited hyperspace, accompanied by two Raider Class corvettes, Assailant and Marauder. The Dominator quickly launched its TIE fighters which screeched towards the planet alongside the Raider's who moved to patrol around the planet ensuring no one escaped from the planet. The Dominator engaged its interdiction field further helping trap any potential attempts to escape.
Once it had reached a close enough distance to Dantooine, the Dominator launched its Atmospheric Assault Lander's which headed towards their predesignated targets on the surface.

Rear Admiral Gordivan Annsing, of Imperial Intelligence monitored the progress on the ground from his command ship, the Dominator. The entire operation took less than two hours, with all raids conducted simultaneously, preventing any warning or coordinated response between the cells. It was not clear, and likely would not be known for some time, if all cells on Dantooine had been neutralised. It was possible some had remained undetected by Intelligence, but at the very least the resistance would have taken a severe blow. Many of them had been successfully captured. High value prisoners had been transported to the Dominator for interrogation while most of the lesser valued prisoners would be detained and interrogated on Dantooine, at least for the time being.
In the coming days, Imperial Propaganda would justify the crackdown and raids as justified by the bombings and celebrate the successful response. Propaganda would emphasise the civilians killed in the bombings and would play forced confessions obtained from captured rebels. The investigation of the bombings findings would be published, firmly establishing the guilt of the bomb factory in Garang.
Any possible remaining rebel cells would likely stay low for some time.

Turning to Tanara, she spoke."Welcome to the OSV Black Widow. Your men have bunks set aside for them in the crew quarters on deck two and your quarters are this way. Voon Ostrenis-Massa The arrival of a pair of Resurgent-class Battlecruisers alerted the orbiting Resistance Fleet of an oncoming Imperial response to their presence. Imperial Intelligence had alerted Malleus Squadron as well as the infamous sister ship, Omniscient Eye, which was under the personal command of Director Piett, head of Imperial Intelligence. Both were made aware of the sudden spike in rebel activity and coming of a fleet that would assist in the escape of one of the major rebel organizations of Dantooine, the Huurton Front. As such, a vanguard was sent forth to reinforce Dantooine, as well as the Omniscient Eye, while the rest, with its Bellator-class Dreadnaught, would arrive as additional reinforcements in due time.
Now, instead of just one contending battlecruiser, there were three that had been launched to block the escape in space and destroy the Resistance presence. Sensors, on both sides, would detect the oncoming of a fourth signature, indication further reinforcements. The window, for this operation, was narrow from its inception. Now, there were teeth being added along the edges of that window. The Imperials weren't gonna let these rebels shine one bit!
Upon entry, swarms of starfighters were launched from the three Resurgent battlecruisers, with the Hyperion being the command vessel of the trio, converged for their immediate attack. TIE-Xs, alongside TIE/sf Starfighters, zoomed out of the hangar bay as the warships went on the attack, gunning straight for the Resistance fleet over Dantooine. A couple squadrons of TIE Demolishers remained on their respective vessels for now. OOC: I have been granted command of Merrik Piett's Resurgent-class Battlecruiser, by said writer, which would be a present defender over Dantooine.

"They're taking too long"
"Come on, Four, it takes some time to get them off ground"
"Fives, leave him, you know he gets itchy around Imperials"
"Oh you sack of wampa crap, if I get you on the hangar..."
"Cut it off, guys, we're not squabbling children on an Ord Mantell's marketplace"
Said Red Leader, the aged Quarren Rago Tumanis, while the squadron made a perimetral flight around the fleet in formation. Zhar's support flotilla had headed to the surface a quarter of a rotation ago, but loading all the material and evacuating personel wasn't a menial thing to do. Even if the Huurtons had packed in advance there were assets that couldn't be simply transported in a few clicks inside the ship's belly. Moreso, the senator had went to the surface himself, which made the extraction mission even more delicate.
They were flying in unison under the shadow of the wedge-shaped Victory-II cruiser, Crix Madine, when alerts beeped on everyone's consoles. Three large battleships had arrived to the system and the proximity alerts warned of the incoming starfighters, poured by the carriers like a flock of vultures.
"Hey, hey, don't wanna be the mood's killer, but I think we got company"
"Sith-spawn, are those three Resurgents?"
"Admiral, here Red Leader"
The MonCal admiral was on board her cruiser, on top the command chair, which was basculating towards the incoming enemy ships, while the pilots steered the old and reliable craft towards the Imperials. She keyed the comm.
"Red Leader, we detect a substantial amount of eyeballs, you're tasked with keeping orbit clean for Flame One and the cargo ships"
"Gotcha. May the Force be with us"
After keying the comm the admiral moved on her seat, slightly unease. Three destroyers were enough to tear the fleet to shreds. And there would be reinforcements, possibly something even worse.
"Sleeping Sarlacc battle formation, no-one gets in! Defensive perimeter! And hold the ground, we don't want to get too close to their heavy turbolasers, let them come! Major Bashla, defend the flagship from incoming fighters. Green Squadron, escort duties for Grey and Gold"
"Copy"
"Copy! On our way!"
The Blue Squadron launched from the MC-75, twelve magnificent T-85 X-wings, with blue and gold fuselage, the very best the Galactic Alliance had to offer before its fall. The nimble crafts flew in formation. The green-hulled A-wings took flight and reached the slower Y-wings, while the B-wings took position at the flanks.
"Good luck, May the Force be with us"
These were not common or antiquated starfighters, but the very best models developed by the sharpest minds in the Resistance. The new B-wings with four auto-blasters, two laser cannons, one heavy laser cannon, three ion cannons and four proton torpedo launchers were a beast, able to torn to shreds enemy fighters and cruisers alike, while the Y-wings had increased payload and reinforced hulls, able to finally defend their grounds against interceptors and fighters, while having more firepower to deal with larger ships. They hadn't been tried against a threat of these magnitude and they would be tested today. The First Order knew nothing of the newly developed fighters, so the Mon Calamari trusted the surprise would last long enough for their advance to be stalled.
"Madine, take the right. Lando, Liberty, Iblis, follow suit: Corellian Beehive formation"
The Assault frigates, fresh from the CC's shipyards, with their hulls gleaming under the system's distant sun, formed around the aged Imperial cruiser.
"Loth-cat, take the left. Dream, take the rear and be prepared for the incoming wounded. Blade and Riot Squadrons, take the flank and shield the Nebulons"
"Copy admiral!"
"As you wish, May the Force be with us"
"Will do!"
The voices, human and alien alike, sounded distorted by the comms' speaker. The holodisplays before the admiral were lit, displaying the battlefield before her fish-like eyes. Her aides flockered around with datapads, the bridge buzzing with commands, data and the beeps and alerts coming from the consoles in a cascade.
"Gatalenta. Do as instructed"
The ships placed themselves as told, with the medical frigate shielded by the larger and more powerful cruisers. The bunkerbuster took position next to the medical ship, with its concealed cargo away from the Imperial prying eyes.
"For the Republic! Don't forget why we fight here!"
Clamored the admiral and then the whole bridge as the enemy ships came, in threatening numbers and fearsome might. She hoped they would just hold long enough for the auxiliar flotilla to take off and leave the system...

Following the rest of Riot Squadron in her blue-coloured RZ-2 A-wing Interceptor, Diane Lintra was unusually calm when seeing the three massive approaching ships in the shape of a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer... titans among the battlefield, which even dwarfed the already fearsome Imperial Star Destroyers. Given the ammount of ships the Resistance offered up, there was a good chance that they could overcome these opponents, if they did it smart. And if the First Order didn't call in any reinforcements, because time was of the essence. So far though the instructions were clear. Protecting both Nebulon-class vessels, the Dream of Alderaan and the Loth-cat from the incoming fighters and bombers, according to the squadron leader. Well, so far none of them were seen though Lintra already could see from the distance incoming TIE wings, an angry swarm of wasps buzzing out of the Star Destroyer's hangars. Well, that won't be easy... Keeping the course, the Resistance pilot looked briefly at her wingmen, before the calm atmosphere would end. The reminder of what happened at Naboo, her homeworld, filled her with enough determination to get rid of most concerns... about anything else she could worry later, when the battle was over. One way or another.

Upon the bridge of the Hyperion, the command vessel of this small flotilla, a holoprojector lights up, revealing the full situation of the battlefield before the present commander, Commodore Mannis Triald, and the holo-images of the two other officers who were under his temporary leadership. Two countdowns appeared just below the holomap. Triald looks at the two.
=Commodore Triald= Pride of Muunilinst is on its way. Admiral Rendrake will arrive later, with the Malleus and Enduring Conviction.
The Imperial states, confirming the stated plans, arranged prior to the engagement. The fleet had moved off to Dubrillion as its staging point. For now, it was a bunch of these Resistance vessels versus their own battlecruisers. Hopefully, things would fair well till then. Triald would just need to handle things till Rendrake arrived to take command. However, given the expedience of this operation, the fleet was forced to come in pieces, rather than together.
The holomap lit up as the starfighters began to join for combat. Just like the Resistance had the new B-Wings, these rebels would find that the Empire had new toys as well. Where once the TIE/fo Superiority Fighter flew, a new object zoomed across the battlefield. The new model almost looked like the old TIE Raptors, created by the Warlord Zsinj, yet packed a bigger punch then its predecessor. Almost as fast as the A-Wing, the TIE X model was created in the post-war period. It saw service before it could stretch its legs during the Third Galactic Civil War, but was become a favorite among the First Order's fleets. This starfighters zipped around the battle, unleashing their fire-linked cannons and heavy lasers at any target that came within their range. At least, six squadrons of these fighters were present, according to the roster in Commodore Triald's hands. For now, the TIE Demolishers remained while the TIE/sf squadrons remained in reserve for now, but deployed nonetheless.
Triald turns to the holoimage of the Omniscient Eye's commander after reviewing what remained.
=Commodore Triald= Captain, deploy your TIE/sf squadrons and prep your TIE Defenders.
=Omniscient Eye Captain= Yes, Commodore.
These fresh fighters would serve well, thought Triald before turning to his Gunnery commander.
=Commodore Triald= How much further till we are in range?
A quick check followed.
=Gunnery Officer= Two hundred meters and closing, Sir!
Triald nods to the officer before giving a command.
=Commodore Triald= Have the crews warm up their weapons and prepare to fire when we are in range! Increase shields to the front and flanks of our warships!
An acknowledgement was given as the orders were relayed. Triald put his thumb between his teeth as he thought for a moment, looking at the formation of the Resistance Fleet, then to Dantooine. He began to wonder when their shuttles would be detected. Once they were spotted, the focus would be altered accordingly. Their main objective was to ensure the Front was dealt a proper blow. Mopping the Resistance fleet was just icing on the cake to the Imperials.

"YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHH"
The fighter was lost in a ball of flames as its inner systems erupted, hit by the scorching laser fire of the newer TIEs.
"Sithspawn"
Muttered the Quarren through his twirling tentacles.
"Red Leader, these hit harder than ever!"
Said Major Bashla on the comm, a hint of worry in his usually unfazed and composed voice.
"Copy, Blue Leader, we're struggling on this front as well"
The Quarren turned heels abruptly by turning off the engines and closed the wings. The TIE at his tail did not predict the move and left its flank exposed to a rain of bolts delivered by Red 6. Tumanis hit the propulsors again, thrusting the starfighter forward like a blade. The front had turned into an intense dogfight. The versatility and rogueish tactics of the Resistance pilots had the upper hand against the Imperials, but their numbers were staggering. The Red Leader, on board of a state-of-the-art craft, could match and overpower everything they threw at him, but many did not have his skills or firepower. Another TIE was blown by the wingtips' cannons.
"Thanks, Red Leader, that was close"
Said a member of Green Squadron, whose A-wing had been hit by one bolt and was limping.
"Sargeant, go back home, get to the hangar, you're in no fighting shape"
Added the Quarren as he steered his ship, checking the radar systems, seeking adversaries. A newer TIE model passed by, followed by Red 6 and 7, until it was hit fair and square and blown to bits.
"Pilots, record everything, we need intel about those things. And play safe. Stay in formations when possible"
He commanded through the comm link, followed by a cascade of affirmative answers.
"Blade Squadron, I want a run against that destroyer. We follow you"
"Copy that, Red Leader"
The newer B-wings lined themselves up deploying their fearsome armament. On the background the MonCal cruiser's formidable shields held the ground against the heavy turbolasers, but it simply could not beat the enemy, only delay them. The frigattes did what they could, with the Victory and the Assault cruisers successfully holding a Resurgent at bay with their combined firepower. However, the Loth-cat already showed signs of battering and it was steering its helm to cover itself with the Lee-Char's stronger shields.
Come on... senator...
"Red Squadron, with me, protect their flanks! Krayt Dragon manouver"
The ships positioned themselves around the Blade Squadron, engaging in dogfights whenever a TIE endangered their formation. It was aggressive and thickly-packed, a punch to deliver a payload against one of the beastly destroyers fielded by the enemy. As they closed by they heard something in the comm.
"Here Flame One, transports in orbit"
Said the raspy voice of Ostrenis himself through the speakers, flying his own X-wing. The Corellian corvette was raising flight into the outer atmosphere, followed by the many freighters and cruisers, a myriad models, some of them pre-Imperial. The Flame Squadron followed the Resistance's chief-of-state, who did not shy of field duty, along a score of fighters, protecting the slower vessels and their leader.
"Blue Squadron, pull out the fight, to the transports!"

As the TIE-X fighters closed in, Lintra realized quickly that these starfighter models definitly surpassed predecessor fighter lines and from she was used from the simulations. When one of her wingmen was already shot down by one of the passing flights, going straight into pursuit after her, Diane had barely any time to dodge the incoming blasterfire and just nearly got strafed. Three shots were fired from her RZ-2 A-wing Interceptor before she had to pull up and dodge another incoming salve from starfighters behind her. If it wasn't for her CloakEye sensor jammer, she would already be dead.
She barely saw how many of her attacks hit the target on spot, but given that the TIE wing still flew intact in search for her, Diane already presumed that these damn things had stronger shields. Something like this easily surpassed the older fighters of the rebellion. Luckily though we're the newer generation. As the next wave of TIE-X fighters showed up to continiue their bombardement run on the Loth-cat, Lintra and her wingmen took the initiative to regroup and get into the rear of the slightly slower TIE fighter frames. While their squadron leader probably noticed the danger and withdrew most of the fighters immidiately, Lintra simply shot at one of the targets Riot 6 had already focused. With a combined salve the fighter exploded as the wing tried to escape, another TIE-X being shot down several seconds after in a combined effort.
When they bypassed the last TIE fighter though, Lintra immidiately realized the danger though. "Riot 6, pull up!" ::I-:: Before she could hear any response the blast from the X's concussion missiles at close range teared apart the RZ-2 A-wing of her wingman within seconds. Anger and sorrow filled Diane's mind, as she realized that their own sacrifices would be higher at the end of the day than anything they could do against these elite TIE fighters of the First Order. It neither helped that she briefly witnessed another TIE-fighter getting shot down by the point defense cannons of the Loth-cat, who at least was able to fall back, while the TIE-X squadrons momentarily regrouped. Yet the true inferno was about to come towards the Resistance, as Diane spotted the three Resurgent-class vessels in the distance once more, knowing that the current assault of TIE fighters was merely a slight taste of what the First Order was capable of doing. So far all the Resistance's main ships were standing... but so far they only fought interceptors. Diane Lintra feared the moment, when they would unleash their bombers upon the fleet. Just a little bit longer...

An eruption of turbolasers, ion cannons, and various kinds of missiles came forth as the first battlecruiser clashed with a portion of the Resistance fleet. An additional Resurgent had moved in, the temporary command vessel, to aid in the armed clash. Emperor's Wrath, the third warship, held the flank off to the port side of the Hyperion. The initial clash was strong, considering the firepower of the Resurgents. However, Commodore Triald ordered the Omniscient Eye, on the starboard, to begin pulling back. The Imperial hoped to stretch the formation of these rebels between the three battlecruisers. The hopeful arrival of the Pride of Muunilinst will certainly help punch through.
As the Commodore issued commands, several reports came to him from his sensor officers.
=Commodore Triald= A squadron of B-Wings on fast approach to the Emperor's Wrath. It's got an escort.
Then the next report came in.
=Commodore Triald= Their transports have been detected, heading for the fleet.
The TIE-Xs were already dedicated to the fight before them, but the Imperials still had reserves. Triald quickly pulled up the display of what remained within their hangars. After a quick review, the Commodore reacts with the best plan in mind. He keys the communications with the two TIE/sf squadrons in reserve.
=Commodore Triald= 128th and 209th, move to intercept the transports!
The TIE/sfs, circling the two battlecruisers, veered off and headed for the escaping transports. The Imperial didn't need to relay anything to the Emperor's Wrath. The captain there was certainly bringing his point defense lasers and ion cannons online for defensive operations. As for the matter of the run for the Emperor's Wrath, the Imperial knew exactly how to deal with this. He comms the Captain of the Omniscient Eye.
=Commodore Triald= Captain, deploy your two elite squadrons for the oncoming run against the Emperor's Wrath. I want them burned from space!
Their core objective was to eliminate the escaping cell of rebels and send a message to Dantooine. Taking down the Front would ensure a wide hole in the rebel cells within this system. Taking down this rebel fleet was just icing on the cake. The TIE/sfs could deal with that. The captain of the portside battlecruiser complied and relayed the order to two reserve squadrons in the hangar bay. The engines roared to life as the pilots got in their cockpits. Soon enough, they screamed out of the hangar bay, heading to the port side of the Hyperion.
Their presence became known relatively quickly as a score of starfighters zoomed above the surface of the Hyperion. Bristling with guns, and piloted by elites of the 181st, two squadrons of TIE/D Defenders soared forward, aiming to take down the attempted run at the Emperor's Wrath. The Commodore knew this would be plenty for Red and Blade squadrons to deal with.
As this was done, new orders were relayed to prepare the TIE Demolisher ordinances for a heavy bombardment of the enemy vessels. Their own bombing run needed to be planned ahead of schedule. The Commodore's eyes glanced at the countdown for the arrival of the Pride of Muunilinst... any time now, thought the Imperial.

"Flame One to all squadrons"
"Copy, leader"
"Incoming forces, tight formation. Fighters, defend the transports! S-foils in attack position!"
The nimble craft piloted by Ostrenis openned its wings and his wingmen did as much, taking formation around the Resistance's head of state.
"Here Captain Lantt, we'll deal with the most dangerous fighters"
The Corellian blockade runner turned its tip towards the incoming Imperials, delivering a salvo of rapid supressing fire from its enhanced lasers.
On the meanwhile, Resistance pilots were having a rough time landing hits on the Resurgent. Red 3 and Red 5 had met an untimely end at the hands of reinforcements and another B-wing had been blown to bits. However, the newer bombing crafts of the Resistance were a nut hard to crack, specially at the hands of seasoned pilots, and ravaged part of the hull before they had to pull out.
"Too much, I don't want heroics, regroup at coordinates Alpha Tango 388"
Said Tumanis, turning the helm of his spacecraft towards the shadow of the MonCal cruiser. The admiral herself was in trouble, redirecting power to frontal shields, trying to blunt the impact of the incoming heavy turbolaser fire.
"Red Leader!"
"Copy, admiral"
"We cannot deploy the MegaFortresses to fell one of those destroyers, the enemy fighters are too quick and powerful, they would be torn to shreds in minutes"
"Sithspawn"
He looked at his holodisplay, pondering what to do, while Red 10 and 8 dealt with a TIE-X who had been daringly trying to hunt down a blue-painted A-wing, who Tumanis thought belonged to a newer recruit from Naboo.
"All fighters return to defensive positions arounds the cruisers. Blue and Riot Squadrons, assist the senator"
"Copy that"
The fast and agile X-wings models, formerly of the New Republic, flew to the arranged point, striking at the TIEs from the flank, using the Victory cruiser's shadow to conceal their approach. The transports were heading fast to the arranged coordinates and the fleet was slowly arranging itself between the freighters and the Imperials. The consular cruiser was taking a blunt but its cannons were felling a number of freighters and it managed to preserve the flank and preserve the transports, heading at the full power of its thrusters towards the exit point.
"Admiral, report"
Said Ostrenis, in flightsuit, to the flagship, whose shields were flickering dangerously.
"The Iblis and the Lando had to pull back. The Madine is seriously suffering heavy fire and it won't hold for long. Loses are starting to mount, senator, we cannot fight much longer"
"Damn it"
He had to turn the helm of his ship to finish off a TIE/Lf that had tried to pick up Flame Two.
"We're so close..."
Time for the ploy. He didn't want to resort to that, but he would have to.
"Twisted Lekku, your services will be remembered"
He said to himself, in low voice, while keying the command to the droids piloting the craft, who steered the ship towards the enemy fighters. It was loaded with ammo and rhydonium. Enough explosive power to blow quite a few fighters and prevent the Imperials to reach the transports. Ostrenis' astromech chirped a farewell while the senator returned his atention to the fight ahead, his wingmen trying to clear out the path for the chief-of-state and the freighters. The old GR-75 headed towards the enemy, with full thrust.
