The Proficient-class Cruiser was a Corellian vessel manufactured during the early years of the New Republic. It was utilized heavily till the New Class project began, standardizing the New Republic’s navy at the time. However, many of these ships were reactivated for service when the starship-strapped New Republic was needing ships to fight the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion. It proved to be a worthy choice, seeing extensive service well into the Galactic Alliance’s existence and resurfaced in Corellian and Confederation navies during the Second Galactic Civil War.
This small vessel sported 10 heavy turbolaser batteries and 20 ion cannons, making it a good support vessel and suited well for the frontlines. Much of its interior had modular compartments which were sacrificed for docking bay facilities. As such, the vessel could carry a squadron of starfighters (12) and 1,500 troops.
