Zeltros, Nova Command.
This was to be Moff Brega Ennakesh's crowning achievement. She had issued every order she could, called in every favor she was owed, pulled every string she could & made deals she would probably regret later. But for now, she had her dream. Sixteen, fully stocked (if outdated) IM-455 modular garrisons formed the ring of the command center, one for each Novatrooper battalion. Within that already impressive ring was a rapidly rising forest of training fields, barracks, armories, vehicle depots, command structures, landing fields, hydroponics facilities, manufacturing blocks & everything else needed to keep a small but powerful warlord in power.
Nearly sixteen thousand Novatroopers, the best & brightest of the Empire's ground assault units. Another twenty thousand stormtroopers, collected from a wide range of units & posts, all potential recruits for the Novatroopers. Nearly forty thousand officers & front line troopers. All supported by nearly a hundred thousand naval ratings & support personnel of every type. One hundred & sixty AT-AT walkers, with an equal number of the smaller AT-STs. Over two thousand combat speeders & speeder bikes. Nearly five hundred various TIE models, mostly outdated but still serviceable. In addition to the fleet of Lictor-class ships that where under her direct command, she had to borrow an Imperial Star Destroyer and a handful of Acclamators just to get everything to the planet. She would have given her right arm to keep them, but for now that wasn't possible.
All told, Order had come to Zeltros. And it didn't plan on leaving any time soon.

The Roaming Fingers was a fairly typical ship of its type. Like the vast majority of Colony Ships, it had (in the distant past) been a CIS Core Ship. It had undergone much work since those days though. While it had the space, food, medical, scientific & industrial capabilities to keep a crew of sixty thousand happy & busy for generations without support, this one only hosted a crew of just over half that. In actual fact, that was a rather high percentage compared to most of the active Colony Ships, which could run with a tiny complement of sixty, if desired.
Beyond providing enough food for its crew via the automated hydroponics bays, the ship also had enough baseline nanite vats to produce anything up to a starfighter in one go. Albeit, at a rate of production that would be shameful to all but the slowest production lines. With a little secondary work in one or more of the hangers, the Fingers could even put together medium freighters if needed. Of course, in either case the raw materials would still be needed. But the on board molecular furnace removed any need for refinement or purification beforehand. As for the craft's modular work spaces, those had been filled with the various chemical & biological workstations used to produce the wide range of products that were currently being peddled to the indigenous population.
Officially, the First Order & the Infinite Imperium were on fairly good terms, at least by galactic standards. Which was good as very few of the citizens on the planet had anything more than the basic combat classes required of every citizen. On the other hand, it would not do to let the First Order snatch such a promising world out from under them after all the hard work (& partying) that had been put into it. This, of course, would mean that cunning would be required.

Mary was supposed to be on vacation, not fighting off a planetary invasion single handed. This was not how she had hoped to relax. If she had been planning to fight off an invasion by herself, she would have spent more time setting up & getting supplies. As it was she only had a few dozen custom droids that might, technically be a bit more combat capable was strictly legal. Enough small arms, for various definitions of small, to outfit a small battalion. And enough explosives to deconstruct a fair chunk of a modern city. Plus the systems on her ship itself, which would help keep her explosive stores topped up. & obviously the ability to kill people with her mind.
One good thing she did have, however, was that the last owner of this particular bar had been rather paranoid. It was currently named the 'Well' but had changed names a few dozen times in as many years. The current owner was not particularly pleased to see the First Order on the planet, & had given her more or less free use of the rather impressive, and unregistered, collection of hidden rooms, basements, cellars, & bunkers hidden beneath the bar. Now she just needed to start rounding up some resistance fighters & she would be ready to go. Being a Jedi Knight (well technically still a padawan) did have its occasional perks.

Moff Brega smiles, partly due to the small, now empty, metal vial hidden away in her pocket. Partly due to the fact that she had managed to establish the first ever military beachhead on Zeltros. Of course, it had taken incredible effort. The first several waves of engineers & combat support troops had been more or less absorbed by the locals within minutes. It had taken nearly three weeks of operations from the more sealed Nova trooper battalions to recover (willing or otherwise) all her missing people. For simplicity's sake, she had listed their time missing as being a prisoner of war. Eventually, a sort of resistance booster shot had been introduced to the troops. A small percent had adverse reactions to it, but very few lethal cases. For the rest of the population, it simply left a lingering rash at the injection site & a higher resistance to the local pheromones. With the additional gear the stormtroopers (regular & Nova alike) meant they were nearly completely immune. Of course, discipline had dropped a fair measure, just from inhabiting the planet. However, given the incredible boost to moral, Moff Brega decided not to impose any punishments for that. At least not yet.
She continued to bask in the golden haze around her as she looked over Nova Command. Her Command.

The Tempest had been moved to a nearby, hidden landing pad connected to the Well. It would seem that in the past, at least one of the previous owners of the bar ran goods that were illegal even by the lax local standards. A careful questioning revealed that even the current owner wasn't aware of them, or at least wasn't willing to share the information. Either way, Mary felt a little safer with her equipment easily accessible & an escape route open.
She had also made a fair bit of progress in recruiting some local help. She kept them separate of course. A few cells she had meeting in the Well itself, but at separate times & in different parts of the maze of chambers. This would be her command staff. Other smaller cells she either set up herself or had set up through one of the command staff in other parts of the city. It was a fairly bare bones operation so far, but she figured it would grow as the Stormtroopers actually did things in the city, instead of just trying to keep their own people from deserting.

In the initial probing, it would seem that some of the locals seemed to be pushing back against the stiff rod of Imperial might. The Imperium felt that the locals could use a little stiffening of their own. It was not overly difficult to use the ships manufacturing abilities to make knock of version of various weapons. Of course, the blaster gas was a different question completely. Getting the weapons into the hands of the locals was yet another problem. It wasn't like they could march down the street handing one to everyone they passed. Somehow they would have to make contact with whoever was running the local resistant.

The Chiss Heavy Dropships and troop gunships set down, along with the single IF-120 that Viz’Eath was on. They set themselves down in a clearing that overlooked a small lagoon. This would be where the Chiss built their Expeditionarh Forward Base. The dropships unloaded APCs along with building materials for the bases, while the troop gunships unloaded Chiss Infantry. The IF-120 Deployed it’s contents before it was converted into the command center mode. This would be their temporary command until they could get their base set up. Viz’eath strode out of the shuttle before he was doused in pheromones. He wore a breathing mask, so he was unaffected by it, and the sealed environments offered by the Chiss armor kept the troops from breathing it in. Several Clawcraft flew overhead, providing and aerial screen, while the squadron of Aerstrikers began using their maser fans to efficiently clear out a swathe of forest to set up their base. A single chariot command speeder was being prepared for when the commander would leave to meet with Moff Brega.

The figure waiting for the chiss when they arrived had not bothered to remove his helmet, that could have been because of the local drugs in the air. From his statance however, it is likely he would have remained sealed up even on a perfect world, if only to keep from having to deal directly with a Xeno. He also didn't bother to walk the remaining distance from where the chiss speeder stopped. Instead he allowed the Xenos to come to him.
-Bein Major Bein, 8th Nova Battalion. I have been instructed to welcome you to Nova Command.
There was a fairly long pause that allowed the chiss to fill in exactly what the major thought of those orders, without actually being insubordinate enough to say them.
-Bein You are also hereby informed that your access has been restricted to the outer courtyard only. You will also need a Nova Trooper escort at all times within Nova Command Base.
Despite the fact that this was a rather sizable area with a wide range of structures already completed & even more well underway, the Major made it clear from his tone that he was glad the chiss officer would be barred from the high command areas & planning sections located in the central courtyard.
-Bein Finally, the local atmosphere is extremely hostile, though it might not seem that way at first. Our medical staff has devolved an immune booster to counter it. Supplies of it will be delivered to your base shortly. Just remember it wears off & has to be reapplied every three months.
After that, he would remain standing there until either the chiss left, or he was given another order. Personally, he was waiting for the order to throw the blue fairy out of the base. They had come to clean up the Xeno filth on this world, not draw in more.

Viz’eath listened to the fool before him babble on about the hostile environment, something that he was well aware of. Just glancing at his face he could read the expressions of a man who very clearly despised him and his species. As the man talked to him, 4 heavily armored and armed Chiss Commandos walked up behind him, forming a small vanguard behind him. Surely the fool before him realised the fact that the Chiss could very easily crush this battalion of troops. Not that he had any intention to, however, as he recognized that a number of the Nova Corps could be useful. “Ah, yes Major. You no doubt refer to the odd combination of pheromones in the atmosphere. You will be happy to know that our scientists plan on breaking it down and producing a less... lethal variety of this shot. Now, I would like to request the 2nd Battalion to escort us if you feel it is necessary, major.” As the major began to leave, he lingered for a moment to shoot Viz’eath a disdainful look. The Chiss decided to chastise him on his lack of efficiency. “If you were one of my men, I’d have you demoted for standing here for so long. What are you waiting for? Go!” He turned to one of his men and whispered into his suit’s audio receptor. “Tell the troops at the landing site that they should be expecting a shipment of the antidote. And that the human members of the party are to be treated with disrespect.” He sighed. These xenophobic idiots. If they realised the sort of life every Chiss led, they wouldn’t be so disrespectful. Though, they had often attributed this irrational fear due to the fact that they were too advanced for weak-minded individuals like the major to understand, hence the fear. He stood waiting for his escort to arrive.

Since he had been under orders to follow the chiss' orders (but not under orders to inform the xeno of this fact) Bein left without further comment. What the xeno would or wouldn't have done was pointless, as no true human would ever take commands from one of their scum. The chiss were technically still being escorted, as there were other Novatroopers on guard in the small vehicle bay they were in.
Within a few minutes, a small group of Nova troopers appeared. These all wore the 2nd battalion logo on their armor.
-Ker Major Ker, Second Novatrooper battalion. You requested me for escort duties?
This being at least seemed much more relaxed around the chiss. A moment later & he had removed his helmet. The main surprise was the reptilian skin revealed beneath. Major Ker, it seemed, was a Falleen. Given their own biology, it was likely he was immune to the local air. A closer look at the other few troopers he brought with him made the chance that any of them was pure human stock unlikely. Each of the armors had been modified ever so slightly to better fit non-human biology. Though in each case the modification was made in such a way to lend it an air of uniformness, despite the differences.

Viz’eath stood talking in Cheunh with his men, informing them of commands and various things that would need to be done to set up their base. He noticed out of his peripheral vision the Novatroopers approaching. His men lined up behind him and he stood up straight, holding his hands behind his back. It seemed that this Faleen was a part of the Novatrooper corps. He was very respectful, rightfully, to the superior Chiss Officer. He looked straight into his eyes as he spoke. “Yes, I did. I don’t find why it is necessary, but I will accept it.” With that, he held out his hand. It would be important to make friends on base. Friends he could call upon if needed. “Greetings, Major Ker. I am Commander Viz’eath’nuruodo of the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force. It is a pleasure to meet you.”

The Falleen's face closed a little, but it seemed more to be on the subject of orders & their necessity than on anything the chiss had done. He did however, shake the chiss' offered hand.
-Ker That is good to hear. Friendly or not, I unfortunately have orders to remove you by force if your troops prove a ... quote "disruptive xeno influence" unquote.
With that detail handled, he quickly replaced his helmet. After all, even with his resistant biology & natural pheromones fighting back, it didn't do to take needless risks.
-Ker Very good, sir. Was there any place in particular you wished to see? Or would you prefer an overview of the base or the surround area first?

Viz’eath ignored the bigoted orders given by the Grand Moff. He wouldn’t be interacting with her much. He focused on the proposal he made. “I would like a general overview of the base and surrounding areas, and then I will go over any specific locations I would like to visit.”

Nova Command Base was divided into two major sections. The Inner court was made up of four of the garrison structures, connected in a ring by the various quick deploy fences & walls that came with them. Even now work was underway to replace them & supplement it with a single permanent wall of impressive size. Within this closed off area were most of the high command centers, the tactical stations, secondary armories, & the personal quarters of most of the officers & troops that had access to it. Additionally, it had a number of recreation & food emplacements.
With the fact that Moff Brega kept the access close to her chest, & few inside were allowed out, & even fewer outside were let it, it might as well have been on another world. Generally speaking though, the people inside were those furthest into Brega's graces or pockets. A few were there to keep a closer eye on, but they were the clear minority. Of course, little of this last section had been spelled out explicitly, but it was easy enough to read between the lines. This world was outside official First Order domain, & Brega had every intention to use it like her personal playground.
The second section was the Outer Court. The remaining twelve garrisons provided the anchor for the kilometers of fencing between each. In total, it enclosed an area that wouldn't look amiss as a smaller county on most inhabited worlds. Extensive work had been already cut into the land with prefabricated bunk houses, armories, training fields, vehicle depots & nearly anything else an army of nearly two hundred thousand could want. Even will all that covered, large tracts were still effectively untouched, such was the sheer size of the Outer Court.
While it wasn't officially part of Nova Command Base, the dead zone was just beyond the ring of the Outer Court. A hellish, twisted nest of automated fortifications, trenches, death fences, mine fields & booby traps turned everything within ten kilometers of the base's outer edge into a nightmare to assault or even attempt to approach without being allowed in.

Viz’eath observed very carefully throughout the tour. It was an impressive base, however, not one that the Chiss would ever be likely to replicate. As far as a permanent base went, on this planet, it would be sealed at every possible point. Be able to survive if left in a vacuum. It was of no consequence, however, as they did not intend to stay for long in this base, as their own was coming along rather well. “A very impressive fortification, Major. I should however like to inspect the armoires that have already been constructed, along with the barracks.” Elsewhere on Zeltros, the command structure that Viz’eath had envisioned was coming together well. An entire island had been found that would prove very useful indeed. Large dropships were driving massive durasteel piles into the ground to create a foundation for the base to be built upon, while plasma projectors were being installed to create a single bridge that could be turned on and off that would reach to and from the base. The entire site was going to be completely impregnable.

The armories were well stocked, though for security reasons, not even the Major had access to them. Instead, the chiss taken by one of the barrack blocks. Much like would be found on nearly any world, they were simple prefabricated structures designed to keep a largely large number of soldiers in fighting shape. The only unusual thing in this case was that most of the soldiers were wearing breath masks in addition to their normal wear.
Since he had not been able to take the visit to one of the trooper armories, he instead guided him to the Garrison base that was technically the command structure for the second battalion. Of course, most of the troopers & their gear were kept safely up in the Lictor above. A fair amount of gear & officers were kept on duty here at any given time though. Most to appease Moff Brega than out of actual need. Since it was the bare minimum, most of the armories were empty or nearly so. Everything that had been stored had come from the long term storage lockers on the ship. Stuff that the Battalion could spare without trouble. Still it was a good representation of the gear his own troopers used.
-Ker Not exactly chiss tech, but it is functional enough. Most of it is well more advanced than anything we usually face.

The Chiss group carefully inspected the areas of the base they were shown to, looking for any signs of protocol breaching. The sky of Zeltros was filled with pheromones that would stall any invading army. It was why the new base being erected in the planet would be airtight, and have airlocks and decontamination arches at every entrance. It was also why the soldiers wore breathing masks. Most of the base was open to them, not that it contained anything of particular interest. He was more interested in the elaborate defense system that protected the exterior of the base. Granted, it was not like the Zeltros fought like ordinary combatants. Still, defenses would be effective no matter what. “I would also be interested in surveying the defensive field you have set up, even if it is just a diagram of it.” Elsewhere, back at the Chiss base, the foundation of the base had been set up. Now the bulk of the construction would begin, completing the structure that would make up the base. A landing pad had been designated, and equipment to house and refuel clawcraft and Airstraekers had been put in place, as well as ample room for shuttles to land. Maser cannons were being set up along the waterline to attack speeders, as well as being prepared to be installed to defend the skies above. In adddition, towers housing twin megamasers were being set up to defend against larger vehicles, both ground and air.

Unfortunately, the precise lay of the outer defenses was classified, even from the major. Despite this being a Nova Base & him reporting directly to the head of the base, he still didn't have the clearance for the info. He could think of a few auxiliaries that might have access to the info, as well as the defense officer in charge of them. Beyond that, it was more a matter of who had the personal favor of the Moff. Something he distinctly didn't have.

Following a rather brusque farewell at the hands of the silly Major from the start of their visit, the speeder set off and joined a patrol of APCs that were making their way through the forest. They were scouting the areas around the Chiss Bass for potential threats. They were also tasked with investigating the capital city. As they approached, however, they saw something very unexpected. An Infinite Imperium Colony Ship. They assumed they shouldn’t have much trouble with them, however, as the Chiss were on good terms with the II. As the armored convoy entered the city proper, Zeltrons ran up, propositioning the soldiers. Those that did were rewarded with a maser stock to the face and a warning that there would be consequences if they continued. Gunners and soldiers were on high alert for any insurgency that may have developed as a result of the Imperial presence. As the convoy approached the spaceport, commander Viz’eath disembarked and approached the colony ship. He noted the various groups of Imperium personnel that were milling about, doing various jobs, and waited for someone to take notice of their arrival.

If the chiss were familiar enough with the Imperium's practices they would be aware that free colonies such as this one often varied wildly in how they were typically controlled. It was not clearly obvious just from watching if there was any clear chain of command in effect. Of course that could simple be due to the fact that most of the Citizens nearby seemed to be concentrating mostly on peddling various wares to the locals. Eventually, one of the citizens did notice the chiss. It was a rather friendly wave that invited them closer.
-Imperium Citizen Hey there. I didn't expect to see a blue boy this far from the Ascendancy. I'm going to assume you lot are looking to unwind, as I have yet to hear about wanderlust setting in. That being the case, I have a nice selection of potions & oils that will get you nicely settled in. All perfectly legal of course, at least locally.
