The Tunnel twisted and turned taking them deeper and deeper into the planets crust, and after probably a half a mile of walking Vasari concluded that they were well and truly lost to any form of pursuit and so was not as nearly on edge as she had been. It also allowed her to reach out with her mind following the source of the presence she had felt upon reaching the bottom of the mine shaft that had led them here. She still could not figure it out, but she was familiarizing herself with the feeling of it, so should she feel it again, then she would know it without hesitation.
Their path eventually led them to a deep cavern cut into the earth, it seemed warmer here and as the pair of them followed the path cut along the cavern they soon realized why. It started out as a pale light around the corner, and while they had to watch their footing in some places the path cut along the crevasse wall was well made and sturdy, and as they turned the corner about a hundred yards down a break in the wall had allowed a stream of magma to fall deep into the planets crust - for all Vasari knew, into the core of the planet itself. There was no way of gauging how deep the crevasse went. Was this the reason the mine shaft had been closed down... it was too dangerous to tunnel near the Magma flows?
"Isn't something I thought I would see on this planet..."
Vasari mused aloud, not used to having company to overhear her spoken thoughts and so she didn't necessarily say it to Dah'lis, so she wasn't really expecting a reply, and without much warning leapt from the crevasse wall a good fifteen feet across the deep wound in the planet to the other side, where - due largely to the light given off by the magma below - she had seen another ledge jutting from the opposing wall. She turned back towards Dah'lis and held out her hand beckoning for knight to join her with a sheepish grin on her face - as if jumping a thousand mile deep pit with magma below meant nothing to her. It was necessary however, what she was feeling was coming from this side of the crevasse, and she got the feeling it had something to do with the source of this magma flow.

Thankful for the rise in temperature, Dah'lis stood and marveled at the natural formation that was before them. But the time to keep moving came and Vasari artfully lept across the ravine and onto another ledge. Not wanting to keep the woman waiting, the Knight took a few steps back before running and leaping herself. It was good that Vasari's hand was still out stretched as Dah'lis nearly slipped backwards and off the cliff. But grabbing the other woman's hand allowed her to be steadied and avert disaster. Sorry about that... Misjudged the distance a little... It wasn't a simple misjudgment though, her back was still killing her from the shock in the battle. Dah'lis didn't want to show weakness and hoped her excuse wouldn't be uncovered.

Vasari watched the woman fly through the air, coming up only a few inches short which all together ruined her balance and sent her back a little. Vasari reached out and grabbed the woman's forearm and pulled fully onto the ledge and into her arms, holding her gently for a few moments before helping her right herself on the more narrow ledge they now stood upon. This one was not man-made, and they would have to be far more careful as the progressed onward.
"Don't worry my beauty... had you fallen i'd have went in after you."
She gave the girl a soft wink, only visible due to the light coming from the fire below, then slowly released her and moved up the narrow ledge, her feet keeping in a single straight line as she half walked half half skipped onward. After a few hundred yards or so, and one or two mishaps of footing that nearly ended in one or both of them going over into the darkness they came to place where they could almost reach a tunnel just a meter above their heads.
"I get the feeling we should go that way..."She whispered almost to herself pointing upwards at the tunnel above them. After a moment of feeling for the touch of the force she nodded slowly and turned around to face Dah'lis."I'll give you a leg up and you can pull me up after?"
It was a simple enough request for the normal pair of people traveling together in the dark underbelly of a forgotten mine shaft, but they were not normal travelers. Either of them could have made that leap easily with the call of the force and a little bit of focus. truthfully Vasari felt that the battle had taken more of a toll on the Woman than she was letting on, and she wanted to be sure she was below her if anything went wrong and she had to catch her again. the feeling from above was growing stronger, before it was just a presence, but now she felt pulled, like the Living Force was asking her to go in a certain direction. She had only felt that sort of pull once before, and she had followed it then, so she would follow it now.

The chaotic sounds of lightsabers clashing broke through the near-silent plain as the pale white tundra was illuminated in the glow of a red blade. To those in the distance, it sounded aggressive, nearly panicked in its pattern. Back and forth did the heavy dance go, alongside the brilliant displays of lightning and other attacks of the Force. Several minutes passed before there came a sudden silence. No more sounds of fighting, not even a steady hum of the Force-wielder's blade.
The red male Twi'lek stood there, eyes wide as his body no longer responded to the commands his brain gave them. His lightsaber had fallen from his hands and deactivated itself as if admitting its defeat in this encounter. With a slight jolt, his body arched forward a bit before losing its last remaining stability and fell limp to the ground, his last breath emerging in a small puff of white smoke. Blood poured from his gut as his body heat caused the ground to steam a little as the icy colored terrain became tainted in his blood. A cloth then fell lightly upon his body, also colored in his blood as footsteps could be heard departing. With defiant eyes, he looked up at the woman that had been his opponent as the last essence of life left him.
Brushing rosy-colored hair back out of her face, the woman slid her long, crimson sword slowly into place down her back as the shield upon her left arm retracted its blades. Zipping up her jacket, she removed a scarf from a pack on her belt and wrapped it around her neck to fight back against the cold. During her battle, she had remained warm enough, but now that her adrenaline was settling out, so too was her body heat. The last thing she needed was to catch her death out here, especially since the last of the Sith she'd been hunting was gone.
She hadn't gone far before she stopped, looking at the fiery blaze that rested no more than half a kilometer away. In this final battle, the former Sith had fled from her by ship, hoping to lose her once more. Being so close, it was something she wasn't going to allow. And so, as reckless as it was, she brought her vessel down upon his, bringing them both crashing to the surface. It helped her goal, but now that it was over, she thought of the consequences it carried. All she had was in there, now burnt to nothingness. He collection of weapons, all her clothing, everything. All that remained was the few weapons she carried on her person: her sword and shield, lightsaber, throwing knives, and her dual pistols. It was then that she noticed a pack lying a small distance away from the raging flames, allowing her to remember she had;t been entirely blind in her actions. Within was one final bit of attire, a recent one she had acquired. Perhaps, in the end, that was the point. All she had came from her time long passed, something she was now ready to leave behind. All well and good, except for the fact she had quite the journey to make it towards the city of Novania
Pressing on from corpse and the wrecked ships, she pushed forward, hoping to find a means of leaving in the city as she was ready to get off this world for someplace warmer. The woman's walk carried on in its slow pace, the snow crunching under boots resonating in the silent tundra. How long had it been since she set out on her vendetta to erase the ones who took her life from her? Was it a year? Maybe five or ten? It didn't matter. All that she lived for rested in those years, her only purpose resting upon bringing death to their door. But as she made her return to Novania, she began to wonder what was next.
All she ever knew was battle, moving from fight to the next. It was the only thing that drove her forward. Even more than that, it was the only thing she had. For years before she sought her vengeance, she fought in fight after fight, never caring who the opponent was. Truth was, during those years, she could remember nothing of herself. In fact, she wasn't even aware of her skills in battle until after the first few fights. It was within them that she discovered her passion for battle, the thrill of the fight, and the drive that it gave her. With each victory, she felt she inched closer to the truth, to knowing who she was. With each defeat, more and more seemed to slip away.
Before long, the honor she held in battle faded and gave way to desperation. She began to fight with dirty tricks and dishonest tactics. All things considered, she had started going insane, driven mad by the teasing reality that all her memories were constantly out of reach, left to slip away with each failure. So, in order to keep them from slipping away, she gave into the insanity, using any method to ensure she was the victor. But even then, she always felt like she was looking through a foggy mirror that she wiped to see clearly, only to faintly seems images before the fog returned.
Taking a deep breath, she was brought back to reality thanks to the aching pain from the cold air. Closing her eyes, she shook her head as she continued on.

Dah'lis enjoyed the brief moment she was back in Vasari's arms and blushing wildly as the Sith mentioned jumping down after her. Eventually they pressed on and came to a ledge. After that near miss on the ledge, Dah'lis was happy and eager to accept the help. Getting a leg up from Vasari, and then climbing into the tunnel was easy. She could still feel the presence in the Force, unsure what it was, but it was pulling them this way. Turning back, the half-breed held a hand out for the Zabrak, who likely didn't need it, but was happy for the excuse to be bent down over her, showing off some of her blue curves. Once up, she turned back to face down the new path. Any idea what's down here?

Vasari grabbed her by the foot and half lifted, half threw her up into the opening, and was about ready to leap up to follow when she saw the girls cleavage appear from over the lip of the entry way. She smirked a little, unable to help herself and then hopped a little to grab hold of the woman's outstretched arm, allowing her to pull her up, taking a moment to peck her on the cheek before climbing to her feet. Once they were on their way once again she considered the Knight's question. She didn't know what was down here, surely it was something old, and obviously sentient... at least partly to have such a hold over the force enough to draw her here. What was strange to her is that Dah'lis now was starting to feel it as well. She wasn't having to lead as much, they both seemed to know exactly where they were going, taking similar turns in the dark with out prompting or asking first. As they moved once more deeper into the earth Vasari noticed the tunnel beginning to widen as if what had made it was gradually growing larger from hole to hole. She had still yet to find any traces of life. It was true in the darkness her vision wasn't perfect, but to find nothing surprised her. She didn't pause to examine the tunnel walls themselves, having noticed large claw marks digging deep into the rock earlier. She had been working on an idea of what it was, but when Dah'lis asked she wasn't sure she felt like sharing, it seemed rather silly... even to her bookish mind.
"Whatever it is, i believe it is alive. And rather large..."
She left it at that as they moved through the larger caverns. She could still feel a significant number of life forms behind them, but their presence was growing smaller, as if they were perhaps moving in the opposite direction. Perhaps they had swept down through the entry shaft and then taken the path towards the relief exit, and not followed them here. That was both sweet and sour news, as it meant that when they were finished here they would have to fight their way through them once again. A prospect that Vasari didn't find comforting with an injured partner and an awkward weapon. But perhaps that would be fixed shortly.
The thought of pursuit had distracted her for a moment and so she didn't notice the water until she stepped into it, almost stumbling forward as the water took her nearly to the knee as she fell downward. She steadied herself though before she fell forward and ignited her own blade to pair with Dah'lis' as she looked over the underground lake that she had just disturbed. It was vast and what was surprising... it was warm, just shy of actually being hot. It was quite nice.
"Again... not what i had expected, but welcome."
She smiled softly up at her half-nautolan companion and splashed a bit of water up at her as she took off her cloak and tossed it up onto the ledge she had unknowingly slipped off of. In the feint light her unblemished body could barely be seen, but she wasn't wearing much. A tight skirt around her hips split on the sides for easy movement and a breastwrap of armorweave material that barely covered her, leaving a fair amount of cleavage still visible. She extinguished her saber, unsure if it was built for waterproofing and set it by her cloak far away from the water then dove headfirst into the pool, out of sight.

Dah'lis blue lips curled into a smile as she watched Vasari remove her outer layer. But almost as much, was the water, a warm pool to submerge herself in is what the half-Nautolan had been missing. Keeping her saber active, she submerged into the pool after the Zabrak. As a being born amphibious, Dah'lis had ensured that all her equipment was waterproof, including her light saber and whip. It was like something from a dream. Swimming in a naturally heated cavern lake with a beautiful woman whom she lusted after and had fought beside. The water even seemed to improve how her injury was feeling, another welcome part of this wet interlude. Swiftly, and with the same grace as her movements on dry land, the Knight caught up to Vasari and swam circles around her. It wouldn't be immediately clear due to the low amount of light, but a twinkle was in Dah'lis' eyes that hadn't been their prior, one that would call back to happy vague memories, of learning to swim on Glee Anselm. But after a few times around the Sith, Dah'lis stopped and gave her companion another passionate kiss, one hand on the back of the woman's head and the other wrapped around her lower back.

Vasari didn't see anything beneath the darkness of the water, just the feint glow of the girl behind her still climbing in, yet she pressed forward closing her eyes beneath the water feeling the stillness and the warmth of the Force here permeate her body. It was the closest she had felt to the Living Force since leaving Iridonia. A light around her closed eyes caused her to open them, and when she noticed that the half-Nautolan was circling her beneath the surface of the water she smirked and finally surfaced, taking in a long breath to give her lungs the oxygen they desired. Dah'lis was near her in a moment her warm wet body pressing up against Vasari's in a passionate embrace, then she felt her lips and nearly melted at the softness of them. They were lips that were meant to be kissed, and kiss them she did. Her hands loosely clung to the girl as she kicked gently below the water to keep herself above the surface. She had taught herself to swim in the hot springs near the academy, similar to these in many ways, yet they were not as clear, not as clean, and they always felt grimy due to the arid atmosphere. This fresh melted ice, and even though it should be cool, freezing even, the heat beneath the springs bed kept it pleasantly warm.
When Dah'lis finally pulled back Vasari thought she saw something in her eyes, but wasn't sure enough to comment. She nuzzled the half breeds cheek a little affectionately and took a long deep breath before she slipped out of her arms and beneath the waters surface - sinking like only a stone would right to the bottom of the cavern's hot spring. The water only grew warmer the deeper she went but finally she saw what she was looking for... a glimmer of light in the dark water. She reversed her position and kicked downward towards the light. It was a reflective light off the water and the shimmer of the caverns flooring and then she noticed what she was looking at. Large fire blasted diamonds that appeared to have been fashioned into reflective panels by the heat. Too curious as to were the tunnel she had discovered went to study them further she kicked on, knowing she wouldn't be able to hold her breath forever and she had no way of knowing how far this tunnel may go... reaching out to Dah'lis through the currents of the force she whispered to her companion's mind.
Something... has been making these tunnels, and I think i know what it is... but, you're not going to believe it.
She kicked on her strong powerful legs propelling her through the mouth of the underwater tunnel and onward, her lean powerful arms pulling in slow even strokes that spread her breast bone to its full before she kicked forward again. The light was growing brighter now, or rather she was surrounded by the diamond reflective walls of the tunnel and she could see further, up ahead she could see the break in the water. She paused a bit waiting for Dah'lis to catch up with her - sending calming and reassuring thoughts and feelings through the timid link the two of their minds had made during the battle. She was hoping the feelings would cause her to move more slowly, to relax, and to prepare herself for what might be above the surface of the water, and then she slowly allowed herself to rise back up into the air-pocket of this underwater grotto.

Enjoying their moment together, Dah'lis almost missed where Vasari went afterwords. Poking her head down into the water again, she spotted her companion. Watching as she sunk down and down, the half-breed wondered if she would need to rescue her new friend. But the Zabrak proved a capable swimmer and so the Knight followed. She was starting to grow familiar with the presence of Vasari's mind link. And from what the Sith said, they may be approaching the end of this mystery and finding out what truly was behind this presence in the Force.
I'm right behind you, dear.
Swimming faster once she saw Vasari break through the surface, Dah'lis was soon also above the surface. She unclipped her lightsaber and held it bellow the water, just in case something wasn't quite as friendly as they hoped.

They surfaced together and Vasari wasn't hesitant as she stuck her horned head out of the water, but she was carefully slow. When she noticed Dah'lis beside her she lowered her hand to the girl's wrist, wrapping around the gauntlet covering her arm and pressing just firmly enough to prevent the Knight from raising the whip out of the water. She turned to Dah'lis and with a simple shake of the head warned her that wouldn't be a good idea. A sound pulled her attention towards the darkness and she lifted her head a little more so she could see over the ledge in the refracted light. Her eyes widened at the shape of the slumbering form not thirty feet in front of them, her mouth fell open a little and she couldn't help exhale in awe, and in shock."It's a Dragon... An Arkanian Dragon...."The light that was being bounced around the tunnel they had just came from seemed to originate in this room, and while Vasari couldn't break her eyes away from the large pale grey wing that was folded and half covering the body of the ancient winged beast, she could see the lavaflow out of the corner of her eye. It had broken through and pooled near the dragons resting area, which seemed to be made up of more of the same heat polished diamond that they had seen coming through the underwater pass, and now was being funneled down into a makeshift hole in the ground that looked to have been carved out with tooth and claw. Suddenly all of the tunnels they had been traveling through since leaving the man-made mine shafts made sense. She had suspected a creature of some sort, perhaps a great tunnel worm, or a pack of gundarks but never would she have imagined this."She is beautiful..."Vasari whispered still in shock at what they had found and was now lifting herself out of the water and onto the ledge of the grotto floor. She could feel the heat coming off the lava flow a dozen yards away but still she took a slow steady step towards the slumbering creature which seemed to not have registered their presence. These majestic beasts had no front claws their shoulder joints joined with large wings giving them a very sleek appearance. Their hind legs however were quite large and each massive foot held four diamond shark claws. From what little Vasari had read about these creatures before coming to this frozen ice-ball she could tell the dragon was old, the coloring and the thickness of her scales gave her away and while the average lifespan of these creatures was unknown it was believed to be centuries.

As Dah'lis' eyes adjusted to the light, and she realized what was actually in front of them she stopped dead and almost started sinking before catching herself. This creature had to be ancient, older than any living thing the half-breed had met before for sure. Treading water, all she could do from her shock was nod in agreement to what Vasari said. This beast was beautiful. And nested on top of a bed of diamond, it was like something straight from a Holovid. The knight followed Vasari, returning her saber to her belt and then reaching out to take the Siths hand in hers. It was all so surreal that she needed something anchoring her to the physical world. Glancing for a moment over at Vasari, Dah'lis would let her make the first move in interacting with the Dragon.

Vasari seemed surprised when she felt the touch on her hand and it pulled her out of her own thoughts and her dazed state to cause her to look back towards her blue-skinned companion, as if surprised to find her there. She found herself squeezing the other woman's hand instinctively as she turned back towards the beast just its great wing shifted. She froze then and found her mind whispering...stay behind meHer eyes focused on the beast as it raised its great head and looked their way. In the darkness she couldn't get a good gauge of how large the creatures was, but by the look of its head it was large enough to swallow the both of them whole.
She froze then, looking into the eyes of the beast - they were dull white and bright blue almost at the same time - and she could tell the creature was blind. Vasari exhaled and the creature's head moved towards them and the great beast growled then sniffed the air and after that moved again seeming to look directly at them. Vasari dropped her mind almost instantly into the Mind of Stone - a mental art of her own creation that allowed her to focus entirely on whatever she put her mind to - and hesitantly reached out along the first current of the force towards the creature her mind attempting to convey peace and unity between the two of them, similar to the way she formed battle meditation with her allies, but she had never attempted it with a beast before.
The creature lowered itself wrapping its wings around her large curved breastbone as if protecting something beneath her large frame and lowered her head towards the two, opening her maw as if she was going to bathe the two of them in fire that was already proven to be hot enough to melt diamond. Vasari felt resistance - something was keeping her from connecting with the creature, and whether it was its level of sentience or something else she couldn't tell, she wasn't close enough to the creatures thoughts to know. She spoken then, her voice a deadpan emotionless monotone that hardly conveyed the feeling of her words.
"Oh I've got a bad feeling about this..."

As the beast looked at them, Dah'lis froze. Fear gripped her as she stared down something she had never expected to encounter. Still hold Vasari's hand, the half-breed watched as Vasari attempted to make contact with the creature. It was marvelous but horrifying. The only thing that snapped her out of her seeming trance was when the Sith spoke. Immediately, Dah'lis started scanning the chamber for any terrain that could be used to their advantage. Not wanting to provoke the creature, though, she watched and waited for the first sign of fire for the creatures mouth. If hostilities did engage, she was ready to shove Vasari to one side, and dive to the other herself.

The only thing that kept Vasari from paling in fear before the size and enormity of the beast was the fact that she had dropped her thoughts so deeply into the Mind of Stone and her perception was on nothing else but holding the creature at a mental closeness attempting to convince it through feeling and pure instinct, one natural born predator to another - not to force aggressive action. When it came to it however, she knew next to nothing about the creatures - they were thought to be extinct and so what she had read about them in her prep for this mission had been minimal - footnotes at best. She raised her gloved hands towards the creature - away from her weapon with palms held outwards as if the gesture would create a barrier around them - but in actuality it was simply a gesture of submission. In reaction the creature raised its wings and revealed her broad shoulders - her wings flaring out in a blatant show of superiority over the smaller predator - but didn't seem to wish to act yet.
When the creatures wings moved Vasari noticed why she was being so aggressive, below her breastbone was a diamond formation that cradled two small almost crystaline eggs. She wasn't hiding down here from the surface world - she was nesting... Vasari's eyes widened at the sight the diamonds larger than any she had seen in a single piece formed a cradle for the hardened crystal white shelled eggs, and she knew their situation just became much more precarious.
"Back-She whispered in a slow calculated but otherwise deadpan and emotionless voice'-back into the water, we shouldn't have come here..."
Vasari hadn't taken two steps backwards, still holding tightly to the Knight's armor clad hand, when she felt a rumbling from the grotto walls. The Dragon sensed the commotion and was clearly agitated fully prepared to blame the two intruders for this disruption, but before she could act the walls to the underwater grotto began to crumble. Vasari turned and could see the heads of massive drill bits puncturing through the walls - tunnel diggers. The moment the air pocket was broken and the tunnel digger half rolled half fell into the grotto water began to rush in behind it, followed by several dozen soldier's wearing diving rigs and re-breathers. Their guns came up almost instantly and began to open fire upon the two of them - almost as if they did not see the beast towering over them all - now clearly enraged at her sanctuary being invaded.
Vasari's saber was in her hand almost instantly as she re-tasked her mind towards the incoming volley of blaster fire. Dancing around Dah'lis with perfect grace she deflected several of the first volley, allowing many others to rain harmlessly down around them.
"Protect the nest"
She whispered in the same deadpan passive voice void of any emotion that she had used earlier. Putting her back to the dragon she assumed a wide stance and began swirling the curved hilted blade between both of her hands forming a circle of shelter around Dah'lis - and consequently the dragon's nest as well. The twirling blade moved with such speed it seemed to form a solid wall and would deflect any bolt within range, but with no accuracy as to where the bolt went. A moment or so later a second Tunnel Digger and another squad of amphibious forces broke through joining the first...

Dah'lis was moments from diving into the pool when the rumbles started. And her weapons were drawn and ready once the first digger came through. They were dedicating a lot to catching these two Force users, and had found them. Dah'lis waited for an opportune moment to strike. But the moment didn't come as another force breached the walls. She had to step out from behind Vasari's defense so she could help protect the Sith's flank and the nest. If a third force came through they'd be done for. Not to mention the very angry mother dragon who had not yet responded to this burst of activity. Using her saber and gauntlets to stop blaster fire, the half-breed was able to cover a good bit of the nest, allowing Vasari to narrow her defense and hopefully make a play sooner than later.
I'll hold them if you find an opening.

The great beast behind them let out a roar of anger and though the surprise of it all kept her stunned for a short time the water rushing into the domed grotto seemed to spurn her into action. Sensing the immediate threat to her nest was the water she let out of a burst of flame that slammed against the first digger and pushed it back towards the hole in the dome it had made - but the water was coming through too heavily now that a second hold had been made and the entire wall was threatening to crumble.
With the feeling of heat at her neck Vasari pushed at Dah'lis' back towards the water - the tunnel was the safest place for them at the moment and knowing her weapon wouldn't function in the water she deactivated it and only then pulled the half-nautolan back into the water - just as the dragon leaped from its nest towards them - her great claws tearing at the ground near them. She did not trust any of them - and Vasari could not breach the creatures mind to convince her of their desire to help. Vasari knew now why the force had brought her here.
With the two gone for now, the dragon turned her attention towards the other intruders that were now firing wave after wave of blaster fire at her great armored body even as she dove upon them. They couldn't have known what they were getting into and the moment the great beast crashed against one of the tunnel diggers, and scooped up three of the soldiers in her great maw with a crunch that Vasari could hear even below the surface of the water as they came back up. The other digger had moved away from the first putting space between itself and the great beast even as the floor of the dome began to fill with water, and when Vasari and Dah'lish came back up they would find the water knee high and rising. When the water hit the lava pool on the opposite end of the dome a his went up that filled the room with thick steam making sight almost impossible. Vasari had now been broken out of her Mind of Stone and when she came up and took a deep breath she nearly panicked - this dome was under an entire glacial lake - it would fill in moments. She surveyed the room quickly and while she could see nothing she knew the highest point was the nest and she moved towards it, needing to be on dry land to perform what she was going to. She lost track of Dah'lis then, figuring the half-nautolan would fair much better than her in the water.

Everything had started happening so fast. She was suddenly in the water, and next thing she knew she stood alone in knee high water, Vasari nowhere to be seen thanks to the thick steam that now filled the room. Whatever, or where ever the Sith was, the Knight would by her time and distract their opponents. She put away her weapons, not wanting their hum to betray her position she reached out with the Force. She could feel the movement in the water keenly against her bare legs. She could feel the ripples lap against her blue skin. She knew where every being in the water was. And with that she continued to use her natural-born water affinity to her advantage. Holding her hands out she began to move them in circles, as if stirring a pot from above and bellow. Soon great tentacles of water rose up beside her. And then she flung her arms out in front of her and the tendrils lashed out, striking two attackers solidly enough to knock them into the water. Then she swung her arms and with them went the reaching water, knocking even more foes off their feet. And none could see her through the fog, only a torrent of water before being struck by it. In this way Dah'lis protected both Vasari and the nest from being stumbled upon by blindly wondering soldiers.

It took Vasari several moments longer than she wished to reach the rise the nest had been placed on. It made since the dragon would create a perch of sorts with the lava flow nearby, but she also was sure the eggs needed the warmth of the nearby fire and wouldn't expect them to last long in the cold. The steam made her eyes water and the sound was worse than anything, the water continuing to solidify the lava as gallon after gallon was evaporated away by the small bed of lava - soon the room grew dark as the lava turned a dark sticky black color - this much water would turn even a moving bed of lava to stone in moments. But once that was done - the water would grow colder, and begin to fill the grotto. She finally reached the nest and half climbed half jumped up onto the rock near the eggs. Falling quickly into a seated position she used the relative cover of the fog and the frantic screams of the soldiers that had blundered into too much than they were prepared for - with both the angry matron and the assassin they were seeking - now in her natural environment.
She closed her eyes and her mind and attempted to focus herself past the panic growing in her chest at the rising water. She reached out along the currents of the force and raised her hands towards the opposing wall - the gesture all together unnecessary - but it helped focus her mind as she sought to bring the water to a halt. Slowly she formed two force barriers in front of the hole and the water was held back. Her mind strained under the pressure but the force was with her, and lent its weight to her endeavors to protect the nest.
The Dragon seemed even more distressed at the sudden darkness and flames exploded from the creatures chest and bathed the group of soldiers around her in fire - causing even more steam to rise from the water as she clawed and snapped at the tunnel digger until it was little but a heap of charred twisted metal. The other group of solders were thrown off by the tentacles that seemed to rise from the water unbidden and scattered hoping to avoid them - most failed and were knocked beneath the surface of the water - those that remained regrouped and turned their fire on the Dragon - their only real target and a shriek of bestial pain was heard as the combined firepower slammed against the dragon's flank. her wing buckled as she attempted to use it to shield her great head from the incoming fire - trusting her armored hide to fair better than the thinner scales that made up her face. The blaster fire tore a dozen or so small holes into her wing and scorch marks covered the thick grayish white scales of the creatures torso.

Realizing that the Dragon matron was in trouble, Dah'lis put every ounce of energy she had left into her next feat. She drew the tendrils back and brought them around her, swirling and lifting herself up in a water spout. She raced toward the gathered force of attackers, and now from the spout, she channeled water into jets that fired at high pressure and speed. It would be impossible for the guards not to notice her now, though and atop her watering pillar, the only protection she had were her gauntlets. Shots rang up at her in retaliation. The half-Nautolan managed to block most of them, but one slammed into her right shoulder. Then pain was intense. A scream escaped her lips before she directed more jet streams of water at her attackers. If any of these men made it out they could expect cracked ribs if not worse. But the pain and energy draws were wearing on her. Slowly the spout began to lower and the pressure of the water lessened. Could she hold on till her companion was finished, and they could escape?

Vasari was pulled out of her Meditative trance at the sound of Dah'lis' scream piercing above the ring of blaster fire and in tandem with the dragon's own screams - the group of soldiers had obviously rallied and were able to send a rather effective volley at the two and Vasari almost lost her grip on the barriers that held the water at bay. She had intending on shifting the lava over the water to seal the water behind the molten barrier but now she was too concerned with Dah'lis as she reached out - peering through the steam in attempt to find her...
The fire being shifted towards the other small invade had caused the dragon a moment of pause - mixed with the pain and shock of her wing being shredded by the blaster fire. Swinging her tail around to knock a huge wave of water at the group that fired at her she turned her head back towards her nest - to find yet another invade seated close by. This angered the great creature but before she could react a third tunnel digger and battalion of troops poured through the wall - this time the dome seemed to shake more visibly and there was a look of panic in the great beasts eyes as she roared out a bout of flame towards the invaders most of which perishing instantly - the others huddling behind their melting tunnel digger to escape the wrath of the great beast.
Most of those that had turned their attention upon Dah'lis had been knocked below the surface of the water by the jets of water that they had been assaulted with, some came up sputtering, clutching at their crests and gasping for air - but most didn't resurface, knocked out or in too much pain to lift themselves from the now waist high water. Those that remained sent an ill aimed volley at the half-nautolan that had almost single handedly wiped their entire squad and attempted to regroup with the other team - fixing their masks and breathing tanks back on as the grotto was once more filling with water - unfortunately this meant they could not press their advantage and slay the attacker whom they had lost track of as she sank beneath the surface of the water after the spout had dissipated before them.
Vasari was probably the only one in a position to notice the structural damage that had been dealt to the dome when the third digger finally broke through. She was struggling now to hold back the two sections of the lake above - adding a third would break her. She looked at the dragon which seemed to be in more of a panic than anything else, but she felt more than that, the presence did not feel as strong as before - the dragon was old, and growing weaker with the fight. She turned her eyes from the dragon and once again attempted to scan for Dah'lis but couldn't make out anything through the thickness of the steam all she saw was the water rising, and the roof of the dome begin to splinter and crack upwards - once those cracks reached the apex the dome would fail, and they would all perish.
