Help, what help? If they crashed on Felucia then help might as well be non-existent with how rough the terrain was. The ship groaned as it slowly sank into the water, listing on its starboard side, if she remembered her location correctly. Towards the engine bay at the stern, a little right of center. Math and schooling were never her strong suits but she could guess she had a few minutes before the water was up to her face. Eli tried to pull her arm, move it, anything. Pain lanced up her arm and into her shoulder. She cried out and stopped struggling. Broken, probably. Dislocated more than likely. She shivered as the water level reached her knees and continued to climb. Rescue was impossible. Not only were her legs trapped under something but her arm was wedged as well. She'd need the Force or something to move it and she couldn't begin to figure out where to put her focus. Eli wiggled her legs. Whatever was pinning her shins moved just a smidgen. If she could free her arm, she could free her legs. But her arm might as well be in a vice.
She'd seen what carelessness or exhaustion around heavy machinery could do. One of the other mechanics where she worked on Naboo had gotten his arm stuck in a large, inexorable machine. Power got cut but it was too late and he was elbow deep in gears and pain. Emergency services had to cut the arm off then and there to save his life. He couldn't afford a prosthetic and lost his job because of it.
Eli shuddered and looked around. A lot of shrapnel lay within arm's reach, some with wicked points and shining edges. Eli breathed deep and swallowed hard. If she had to do it to live, she would.
The water touched her thighs now. She'd have to decide soon.
"One, please tell me that help's almost here," she called out, her voice wavering. "Please. I don't want to die."

Far above the jungled terrain of Felucia, an object could be seen glowing brightly. Rather quickly, it grew into the shape of a light freighter in what could only be described as an attempt at a controlled descent. Its engines were inactive, and heat from reentry was causing the hull to emit the aforementioned glow. The AI at its helm was doing what she could with the repulsorlifts, but there was only so much she could do wi-..
The freighter hit its first treetop and began spinning, crashing through the foliage around it. It tumbled end over end, starship steel winning the battle against tree bark and fungus for the most part while momentum was on its side, leaving a visible scar through the vegetation. Finally, the ship came to rest with its right half submerged in a small murky lake, the other side sticking out at an angle. There were large gashes into the ship all around, and indeed the starboard side interior was beginning to fill with water. The viewport of the cockpit wasn't just broken: it was, for the most part, gone.. as was the droid chassis which had been at the ship's helm.
The interior was an absolute mess. Platings had been knocked loose, electronics were exposed everywhere, and sparks were flying. A single soft voice spoke from within, its source impossible to determine over the damage to the ship and speakers alike."..Eli?" LE-01 didn't know if her passenger had survived. She couldn't see in that compartment anymore, nor could she establish a connection with her borrowed chassis.. she was, for most intents and purposes, helpless in this moment.
It wasn't a feeling she liked. It was, unfortunately, one she had become accustomed to in recent years. This is a Jedi world, by her telling. Someone will notice.
...I don't want to be trapped again. "Eli?"Artificial voice modulation. Stutter in vocoder protocol at beginning of word. Easy fix. Reverberation. Hollow space between vocoder and ears. Design flaw overlooked? Easy fix. Pain. Sharp pain. Where? Everywhere. Lungs. The air hurts. Can't fix. Head throb. Can't fix. Numbness in left arm. Movement possible? Pain. Sharp, screaming pain. Not possible. Pressure on shins. Movement not possible. Open eyes, look around! Smoke, blue sparks, darkness. A trickle. Blue reflections of sparks, ripples. Water. Rising. Sinking. Fear. Drowning probable. Movement impossible.
Can't fix."One!" Eli could hardly croak out the word, over her panic, the smoke. "One! Please! I can't move!"

The drop out of hyperspace wasn't pretty in the slightest. The light freighter that emerged from realspace already seemed bad off, dents and scars riddling its surface, but inside.. well. Inside dwelt an AI struggling to maintain control and a young mechanic who had no doubt realized the rather literal gravity of their situation."Good news and bad news," LE-01 said quickly through the ship's internal speakers, choosing not to waste power on her holographic pedestal. "We're here. And, if you haven't noticed-.." The thrum of the engines suddenly reached a peak.. then cut out entirely. All attempts at levity vanished, and 01 spoke again."Safety harnesses in the passenger compartments. Follow my voice. Sure enough, her voice was modulated to sound loudest from the direction Eliel needed to go; time was not a factor they had on their side anymore. "And brace for impact." She dearly hoped that she hadn't been given this gift only to lose her so quickly. The trouble had began in hyperspace. Despite 01's attempts at humor, Eli knew it was a matter of time before the ship died. With the AI advising her, Eli had set about to keep the ship running as long as she could. Based on Lana's experience, the AI would survive an orbital explosion, and even reentry if they were close enough. A human on the other hand? Flashbacks of her first and only crash-landing, when it'd been Ariel and her flying a ship and toting a young girl, made her hands shake and her body break out into a cold sweat. She swallowed the anxiety and continued working.
Then came the drop. Eli felt shudders throughout the hull like ripples in a pond. Did 01 know the extent? Did she know and pretended not to? 01 made mention of safety harnesses, all previous attempts at humor gone from her tone. She knew then. Eli finished the last wire, noting the location of 01's voice. She'd have to hurry and strap in before reentry. She tried to pull her left arm out of the hole, hissing as wires hot with electricity brushed against her skin. No luck. She pulled harder, feeling the pipes she had slipped her hand through so easily before pin it in place. Panic rose. How long until reentry? How far away were the harnesses? Eli braced her boots against the hull on either side of the hole and yanked. Her elbow popped but it didn't budge."01!" she called out in a shaky voice. "How long until atmo?"

Ariel blinked. Surely she wasn't understanding the whole context. Surely there was something her poor sleep-deprived brain missed. But as the human Jedi worked his way through a conversation with the... Whatever-it-was, she came to the realization she hadn't missed some other context. What the thing wanted was exactly what it sounded like. Ariel swayed on her feet as she looked from the thing to the Falleen Master, back to the thing, and finally resting on the Falleen. Her overtired brain worked for some kind of response.
"Yeah no," she said at last, directed at the Jedi. "Kriff this shit."
She turned around and headed back the way she came, looking for an alternate route to her quarters. Or a quiet corner to curl up in. Whichever came first.

Eli laughed at 01's suggestion. "I'm on a ship. I'm already comfortable."

Ariel staggered down the halls, not even trying to hide the yawn that forced itself from her lungs. She'd pulled another double. Covering for her sister's ass AGAIN. Ariel rubbed the heels of her palms into her eyes. Force knew that the green and brown of her eyes were red and bloodshot now. Probably looked horrible. Gods damn Eli, wandering off at the slightest whim like she was a kriffing Jedi. Kriffing hell, she better get some drinks out of this disappearance. Voices settled into a drone around her and she closed her eyes, putting the back of her hand to her mouth to at least block the sight of her gaping mouth when she yawned this time. Mid-yawn, she stumbled into something.
Rather, someone. Ariel blinked, startled into alertness, and stared at the frowning giant of a Jedi that looked her way. Kriff, the dude looked like he'd been made of stone.
"Kriff, I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there," she said, slurring through her words as fast as her sleep-deprived brain would allow. Then she noticed the others. A Twi'lek, a human, a disapproving Jedi Master, and a ... the heck was that thing? Most, if not all, of these people were Jedi so Ariel instantly felt out of her depth.
"S-sorry," she stammered again, backing up. "I'm just gonna go now."

For a moment, Eli couldn't speak. "I'm a mechanic. There's not much else. I just . . . fix things."
She drew in the dust on the floor, small swooping patterns. "You. Your sisters. They . . . You all needed fixing."

Eli looked up and around at the fairly large spaceship. She suddenly felt much smaller than the Jedi Non looked with Leigh. " . . . Oh."
Lights flickered to life all around her as the ship—as 01 fully activated and the engines rumbled. It was . . . quite an odd experience, to be inside a person. Disconcerting, she'd heard some Jedi say. Yes, that was the word for it. Like travelling around inside the belly of someone. With less stomach juice. She rubbed the durasteel decking, idly wondering if 01 only had visual sensors or could feel her touch. The ship shuddered as it lifted from the hangar. 01 probably hadn't moved in years.
"Is there anything I can do 01?" she asked. "Help you out a bit?"

"Oh, that looks a lot like Leigh's," Eli said when the hologram shifted. Originally, she thought 01 was a projected hologram but when the image rippled and phased into a new image, she caught a glimpse of the droid chassis underneath. It was a neat chassis, one she hadn't seen before. "Eliana gave you all different personalities. Why didn't she give you different bodies?"
01 offered her hand and Eli took it, gripping it above the wrist as she clambered onto the jammed ramp. "That's probably right. Wouldn't know if it's a good fit or not. Leigh doesn't talk to me much anymore and when she was on Felucia for a good while, the Jedi had her restricted to 'authorized personnel.' I think she's alright though. Hasn't come into the labs or bays with problems."
The inside of the ship sat in just as much neglect as the outside. Dust and grime coated the walls and floor, cobwebs hung in corners, and the only clean spot looked to be where 01 had been sitting. Eli crossed her legs and sat on the floor, looking up at the droid. "So. Your sisters have chosen names. Do you have one? Or do you want me to just call you by your designation?"

"Oh, gods, I'm sorry. Name's Eli." Eli's cheeks turned a bright pink from the error. "We- We're, Lana and me, we live on Felucia. Leigh tags along with some Jedi I think. None? Nan? Something like that. So she usually just visits, if she makes an appearance."
Something LE-01 said sparked her interest. "What was her old MCU like?"

"Lana? She's adjusting well, I think," Eli said, running a hand through her short hair. "An engineering doctor was nice enough to build her a new HRD chassis. I think she and Leigh got into it a bit ago. Not sure if they worked all that out."
She gestured at the ship. "She still fly? 'Cause we can go whenever you want."

When a young woman dressed simply appeared and squatted down on the ramp, Eliel honestly wasn't surprised. After meeting both Leigh and Lana, she'd come to understand that each iteration in the LE series had its own personality and tastes. Whether or not Shan intended it, she found it incredible.
"Your sisters," Eli answered. No point in beating around the bush: if there was any family drama, best to get it out and be done with it. Especially considering where she was intending to bring 01. "They told me your last known location so I came to find you. Will you come back with me?"
Other questions sprang to her mind, questions she desperately wanted answered, but she buried those for the time being. Later. One thing at a time.

Not much had changed on Osarian since three years ago. Eliel walked out onto Kacik Field, eyes roving the myriad of ships even though she knew the one she was looking for was probably in storage. It hadn't taken much to gain access: a flash of her mechanic's security badge and not stopping. Despite the more military nature of the spaceport, the security didn't seem to care. The Jedi had pulled out shortly after the fall of Yavin and there had been an assault by Mandos but life went on for the general populace. Who cared if a mechanic set foot in a spaceport?
The ship was effectively "dry-docked" in a hangar tucked far from the landing pads and active airspace. Lana hadn't been able to tell her much about the ship: just its location. Unsurprising, since the AI had effectively died above an isolated planet. Eli walked up to the dusty hull, grime from years of storage thoroughly coating the durasteel plating. Everything was locked up tight. Oil and dirt caked the landing gear and effectively locked them in place. Eli took a deep breath and placed her hand on the hull. Hoping that LE-01 still had background scanners running on low-power.
"Oh-one? Are you there?"

Days off weren't actually a thing for Eli. If she wasn't working in the hangar, she was watching the padawans fight, studying their techniques and listening to their lessons, or she was analyzing the data she collected from the blue stuff she ran into with Rogue and Morgan—the Corruption. But she could barely read and reading hurt; her dyslexia made it difficult at the best of times. She needed someone that could do it accurately. And someone that knew what to look for. Eli jogged across the hangar to where she could see Lana's diminutive frame along with Master Calmcacil's, Morgan's, and a couple of strangers. Eli slowed when she recognized the headmaster and the, ahem, guests. Master Mans'ell had been, well, not quite more personable, but a little more reassuring in where she stood with him. Calmcacil... she wasn't sure. She'd shown up with other civilians evacuating Yavin when the blockade and siege got to be too bad; She hadn't actually spoken to him, then or since.
And strangers were just unpredictable.
Eli wiped her hands on her pants nervously before forcing the words from her mouth. "Lana, can I talk to you for a sec?"

Eli pressed her lips into a thin line when Pipsqueak Calmcacil spoke up. This was a baaaaaaaad idea that bordered on the lines of suicide. If anything happened to her, Grandmaster Aerandir would probably imprison Eli and Rogue for killing his kid. But apparently Rogue had no problem with this. And they were wasting time just standing around. The Corruption was more important.
"Fine," she said. She pointed at Rogue. "But you have to watch the kid."

With hunched shoulders and her hands in her pockets, Eli entered the courtyard. She hated that the cafeteria was so far from the hangar. It meant more people had time to stop her and talk to her, stare at her, see all her awkwardness and flaws. The limp in her right foot. The weird way she cocked her head to the left. The scars along her forearms. She folded her arms across her chest and walked faster. Maybe Ariel was in the cafeteria and had time to hang out. Across the way, she saw two other people talking. One she knew to be the Headmaster's daughter, Morgan. Super friendly and completely innocent, but her boldness with people put Eli off. She wanted to put her head down and not make eye contact but the other person... Blue skin, blue hair. Eli had seen her before, somewhere. Then Arie burst through the doors on the other side, a datapad in hand. Arie . . . Yavin . . . Rogue. Rogue was here. That strange blue girl made from a person and a pathogen. Arie soon approached her and Eli gave up on figuring out if she should say hi or ignore Rogue. She frowned when she saw the lines around Arie's mouth and the shrunken pupils of her sister's eyes.
"Eli, you know your dreams? About the blue?" she asked breathlessly.
Eli raised her eyebrows. "Yeah? What about 'em?"
Arie handed the datapad to her. "You need to see this."
Eli took the datapad with a scrunched up look at Arie then turned her attention to the vid playing on screen. A news report from Algara II switched from bird's eye views to different cameras set around a specific area. Eli clenched the datapad and ground her teeth. In the middle of a forest, a black crater marred the planet's surface. A bright pool of blue liquid sat in the center, covering a good portion of the crater itself. Long tendrils that seemed to throb with color stretched out in criss-cross patterns, creating a thick web. Some of the veins had reached trees beyond the impact area and covered the trunks thickly. Eli hardly heard the reporter, her ears roared so loud.
Rogue. Blue. The Corruption.
"It's a pathogen. It sinks into whatever it can find and converts it. It lives to consume and to spread. Everything it touches, it destroys."
With a pale face, Eli walked away from Ariel and towards Rogue. She didn't care that she would be interrupting the conversation with her and the headmaster's daughter. This was pretty kriffing important, gods-damn it.
"Rogue," she said. "It's back. Help me stop it."

Ever since she'd arrived, Eliel had been here. Force sensitive though she was, that had been the reason Ariel had been trapped on Yavin Station during the siege. Her sister was here now; evacuees had made a break and miraculously broken through the blockade. Eli grunted as she tried to loosen a bolt that had rusted on tight. They needed to pull out the engine to replace all the seals and since she was the only one that could reach the bolts with her scrawny size, she was upside down in a freighter. She tried to rotate the bolt, putting all her strength behind it. It didn't budge. Eli gasped and relaxed, rubbing her sweaty forehead with her arm. Hours had passed and this was the last bolt they needed undone. She was hot, sweaty, hungry, and tired. Nights held little sleep for her lately. Every time she closed her eyes, she could see a wave of blue spreading, flooding every planet, asteroid, meteor. Bright blue comets blazed as they shattered planets. Worse were the dreams where the blue was a sickness. Where the people turned blue and died and rose again undead. Always she was rooted to the spot, helpless even as she fought to run away. Always, the blue touched Ariel first, hurting her, killing her. And always, Ariel attacked her, forcing the blue onto Eli.
Eli jerked awake and knocked her head on a support beam. She swore under her breath, using some of the native curses she'd picked up from the other mechanics here. Someone beat on the hull.
"Hey, you 'bout done in there?"
"Almost," Eli called back. She set the wrench to the bolt and willed the stubborn bolt to move. It squeaked and groaned but obeyed. "Got it!"
She emerged triumphant with the last bolt and climbed out of the freighter, letting the other mechanics do the heavy lifting. The supervisor nodded sternly.
"Get somethin' t' eat and be back here in an hour," he said. Eli nodded and rushed off to the cafeteria. Maybe, if she was fast enough, she could take a nap in a quiet corner.

Well, if we were to all agree on a centrally located headquarters, a Jedi's loyalty should be to the Order and the headquarters, not to any one academy at which they serve. I do agree that each academy should have representatives to bring forth local issues for HC consideration, but if a Jedi is elected to High Council, their only loyalty should be to the Order as a whole. If they show favoritism for a branch, why should they be elected? HC's will probably have the most demanding job, if only because they must put the interest of the entire Order as their first priority when it comes to Order issues.
I'd like to see a rotation of sorts when it comes to academies, if people were willing to do it. Their Jedi goes to a planet for a few months then is "re-assigned" another planet after. This way, we get fresh faces and people get a change of scenery. Students living and learning at a particular academy would be exempt, unless they were apprenticed to a master who'd been "reassigned."
Again, just my two cents.

This was tried already....by assigning Jedi to planets they don't wish to go, RP fizzled. You should let the players choose where they want to go, not choose it for them...Trust me. Well duh. You don't force people to do something they don't want to do. The IC principle of it, though, could be used. It would present a coordinated and unified image of the Jedi Order, imo.

That seems to resonate for some reason...if force powers and skills were divided up evenly among the academies, then training / teaching that skill would be tied to that location. Seems like it would force cooperation through the academies. If you coupled that with the exchange program, then perhaps that would be enough to infuse the Order with an air of acceptability and vitality as it were. Thank you. It's a start. We certainly need something that mixes writers together and moves people from location to location but also serves a constructive IC purpose. Meeting and writing with more people has lots of benefits beyond reducing cliques, too -- it could help you find a master, apprentice, rival, etc. I like the idea as well, especially since it will allow those who have yet to choose a "home praxeum/academy" to get a taste of each option. I also think that the Temple on Coruscant would serve nicely as a central hub for the order where the High Council can meet, via hologram if necessary/more convenient, and where the Jedi can be more easily accessible to the Republic and other writers who may wish to interact with them. I could very much see Tyor settling down on Coruscant and spending much of his free time trying to help those in need in the lower levels of the cityscape. We could set it up like the US military, then. One planet serves as a central headquarters. From here, Jedi are either "deployed" to do missions or they "PCS" ("permanent" change of station) in which said Jedi would be sent to other Praxeums for a time. I agree with Tyor about the Coruscant temple. While I identify as a Yavinite, Coruscant really was a starting point for the Jedi and I think it's just as—if not more than—important as Yavin was to Luke.
