((Moved from Landing Pads))
Nel followed quickly, though given her position, she missed the change in expression. Though it was quick to begin with, so even if she was next to him, there was a very strong chance she'd have missed it anyways. She listened raptly as he led her into the Academy proper, nodding to show she understood. The fact they were a secretive group and their name were all she had known, and for the life of her, the Zabrak couldn't remember where she'd even learned that much.
Still, the history lesson was appreciated. Knowledge was knowledge and she wasn't sure how this would be useful in the long term, but the fact he wanted to even share it with her meant a lot. She paused mentally at that last sentence though. From knowledge and the understanding that came with it... That certainly sounded like a group she could get behind.
Her head canted slightly to the side as a thought occurred to her though. "How do we know this group follows that same philosophy though, Master?"
She didn't want to say it out loud, and so brought it up through the Force with him; doing it so often lately seemed to be helping her, as it was stronger then before. Still, it was worth it to ask more privately, as the wrong person hearing could lead to bad news, she was almost certain. Minding her tongue, so to speak.

Stormro returned the Headmaster's respectful nod with a slightly lower nod of his own before the man turned and made his way back into the academy. Once the man had left their presence the Diplomat vanished, allowing Stormro's typically cold, controlled expression to return to his face as he glanced at his apprentice. "Where would you like to investigate first Apprentice? It would seem that we have been given a fair amount of freedom in how we spend our time here..." Personally, Stormro was more interested in the archives than anything else that had been mentioned, although his curiosity had been piqued by the mention of a "Mr. Phoenix". Many years ago, before he had embraced his home in the shadows, the Lord of Deception had known a Falcor Phoenix who had been a courageous leader and honorable warrior. The man had forged a home for those who would not bow to the demands of the Jedi or the Sith, and Stormro had once even called the man brother before differences of belief had driven a wedge between the two Force users. It was unlikely that this "Mr. Phoenix" was in fact the man he had known years ago, but none the less a part of Stormro found it difficult to resist the siren's song of curiosity. Beginning to walk towards the academy proper, Stormro did not bother checking to see if Nel would follow behind him, confident that she would remain at his side as he continued. "It would seem that the Sith'ari themself is aware of our presence on Iridonia and has expressed interest in meeting us. I must admit that I am similarly interested in meeting this lord of the Sith, especially as it would seem that they have resurrected the Blackguard..." He paused in his speech, glancing back at the young Zabrak before speaking again. "Tell me; what do you know of the Blackguard Apprentice?" Stormro did not expect Nel to know of the secretive, reclusive faction, especially since the Jedi had been all but unaware of its existence, but she had surprised him before and either way her answer would prove to be a suitable segue into a deeper discussion of the faction. Of course the first thing to catch the young Zabrak's attention was the mention of the archives, but that wasn't what her attention finally settled on. The Sith'ari wanted to meet with them? Curious. Nel didn't know much about her Master's reputation, and she knew she herself wasn't that interesting, so it really made her wonder what it could be about. She watched the Headmaster walk away before she looked to her Master when he asked where they should look to first, and then before giving her a chance to answer, he began to walk away. He seemed to like doing that; oddly though, it didn't bother her. Instead, she just started following him as he started moving, falling in just a step back from him. "I'd like to meet this Sith'ari. I'm honestly curious about those restricted areas we're not allowed in without meeting them first." She took a moment to gather her thoughts, thinking about all her research and reading she'd done over the years, before looking up at him again. "I... will have to admit I don't know much, Master. Just bits and pieces that aren't really useful."

Unfortunately for Nel, she missed the smile that passed over her master's face, too focused on the books near her. She had her own smile on her face, small, but it reached her eyes, which weren't hidden behind her breathing apparatus.By the time she looked back over to him, he had it back under control, though her smile lingered for a moment more.
As he spoke, her smile faded, and she nodded in understanding. If they wanted to get back to these precious tomes, they had a lot of work to do. The eagerness was hard to miss in the way she held herself, and there was so much else to explore in this place too! She looked around at the shelves that packed the room, longing filling her. The apprentice wanted to stay here and look more intensely at everything, but he had a point.
At least he promised that there would be time later to study what they found. She looked forward to it. Finally, Nel turned and followed after Stormro, moving quickly to catch up with him. "What do you think we'll find in here, Master?"

"That's a shame..." Her blue eyes roamed over the tomes on the shelves, her hand reaching out, though she did not actually touch, using her hand to guide her eyes as she looked over the titles available. There was a note of sadness in her voice, making it obvious how much it hurt to not just take a book and immerse herself in it. It didn't surprise her that the toxic atmosphere would have protected such priceless knowledge from rot and destruction. That hurt to think about, though she wasn't sure why. She turned back to her Master, letting her hand drop away to her side again. "I look forward to the challenge, though, that's for certain."

Nel followed her Master's example, clutching her hands in front of her and bowing as well before she straightened, staying just a step behind and slightly to the side of her Master. "An honor to meet you. I look forward to learning as much as I can while we're here."
Her voice was genuine, a gleam of eagerness in her eyes and a slight smile on her face. She glanced to Stormro, hoping she'd not overstepped her bounds, or to confirm she'd at least done something right. Her hands tucked behind her back as she stood straight, looking more to her teacher now to see what they were to do next. It was marveling seeing the difference in his personas the man put out, and it was unsettling how quickly and easily he settled into his new role for the situation.

The young zabrak followed dutifully, her eyes sweeping over everything they passed, trying to take every detail in. Passages, paths, and routes all jumped out at her in case of problems, but her instincts were calm; there were no threats here save the one that warranted the mask on her face. She knew what Stormro said was truth; she'd noticed that in her studies that sometimes accounts didn't match up, but she'd never been able to parse what was the truth and what was the twisting of it.
The ignition of the lightsabre was reassuring, easing her nerves some. There was something unsettling about the silence, though she hadn't realized how tense her shoulders had gotten until the tension was gone. The only real noise for a while had been his voice in her head and their feet across the stone. It was... eerie.
And then the library loomed out from the darkness, and her excitement flickered across her face, her eyes widening and her mouth hanging open behind her mask, which hid the crinkle of an awe struck smile. She dared not try doing what her Master had done with one of the tomes, though she did wander a few feet away, scanning what she could of titles and volumes, her fingers inches away from the spines as she tracked what she was reading. "This... Master, this is amazing. Imagine all we can learn here! I had no idea something like this would be down here!"

The woman's cheeks flushed a little bit at the mild observation about her lack of resting and she looked at her lap, her fingers clenching on the material of her clothes. "I... I did try to rest, Master. Sleep did not want to keep me however."
She looked over to him, continuing to listen to him speak, her embarrassment ebbing away. It wasn't something she could really help, her nightmares, but she hoped in time they would go away. She'd had them a lot when she was first put on Kashyyk, but as time went on, they'd lessened into dreamless sleeps with only occasional interruptions. Then again, they were usually only dreamless when she pushed herself to her limits and then let herself collapse. Then again, if he'd been keeping an eye on her over the past year, as she suspected he had, then he probably knew that already.
Nel watched him stand and followed suit, steeling herself to not let her exhaustion show. She'd rest later. Right now, she was distracted by the idea of so much knowledge laid in front of her. She smiled at the idea. "I can't wait to learn it, Master."

Everything hurt. He'd been harsh (that seemed to be a running theme with her Master), pushing her until she couldn't get up, and pushed her further still. She focused on her breathing, on feeling every ache, every pang. It calmed her some, and she was learning just as much from her bruises as she had from the practice duel itself. Her eyes opened slowly, her head tilting some as her Master began to speak. As he he continued, she looked over to him, giving him her undivided attention.
Part of her still raged at the unfairness of it, but at the same time, she'd been out of line. Apparently slamming her head against the table hadn't been enough of a punishment, and she'd ache for a good long while. Still, there was a sense of satisfaction there, buried deep down that allowed her to keep moving.
Being able to learn about her own people... There was a sense of giddiness that rose up, of excitement she always tried to keep buried back at the Temple. Nel had always wanted to learn more about her people, and there was only so much one could learn from a tome in a library. "It's... odd. I'm excited, yes, but at the same time... it's hard to be thoroughly excited when I'm so tired."
Nel had been pushing herself and not allowed herself rest. There was too much to do, and right now, it felt like she was wading through cotton, though the eagerness fought strongly against it, trying to take over. Still, a small smile flitted over her lips. "Though I can't wait to learn all I can firsthand."

The Zabrak woman followed after her mentor and teacher. She was glad that his disdain wasn't aimed at her. She knew it would have put her on edge, especially since she had no idea how to read him. He'd been distant the past year with her, hiding in his ship while she was forced to fend for herself. A part of her was angry for that. She'd lost everything, and then been flung even further down, when a helping hand would have been nice. Then again...
She'd pulled herself up from her despair on her own. Nel had survived when thrown to the wilderness and become stronger in one way or another, even if it wasn't with the Force. Still, the ache from the bruises reminded her she still had much to learn. Dark eyes landed on the man in front of her. What the hell did he have planned for her?
Still, the woman listened to her Master as he spoke, trying to keep her thoughts from broadcasting to him. She had a feeling she'd done well with it, but with Stormro, one could never be certain. He was harsh when needed, and remarkably respected by the people they had met. But she didn't know much else about him.
What he spoke of was fascinating though. This was a history of the Jedi she'd never heard, and it broadened her mind, even if she seemed distracted. She partly was, still processing everything else they'd dealt with that same day. Nel was exhausted, and it was dogging her steps now. She pushed herself though, nodding to show she was listening, even if he couldn't see it.
"Sounds like a noble goal, for sure, Master. I only heard some of what you've told me, and definitely not in so much detail." Her eyes went to the runes on the ruins, her hand gently reaching out to touch the material that still stood despite all odds. It was... humbling, being surrounded by the long abandoned structures. What else could the two of them learn?

Nel's eyes went to her master, blinking a number of times. His chuckle was a pleasant surprise, honestly, and it helped relax her. He was a hard man to read a lot of the time, so anytime he actually gave her something to go off of, she latched onto it, including that amused smile he threw her way as he answered her initially. She couldn't help but smile back as she stopped next to him while they waited for the ramp, before her eyes flitted around to take in their surroundings as it exposed more of the planet to them. Even still, she listened, following after him as he started down the ramp before it was even fully down.
The history of the Jedi and the Sith, though, was a lot longer then she'd realized. Such a large number of years was almost incomprehensible to the Zabrak who was only in her eighteenth year. Still though, the fact that the Jedi, even from the beginning, had neglected study of the dark side didn't surprise her and she shook her head at the same time her mentor scoffed. It was hard to have a full grasp of the sun if all you studied was the light it brought and not the shadows it oft left behind. No, it didn't surprise her that they'd denied Xendor their blessing, but also didn't surprise her he went about doing it anyways.
Her eyebrows raised in curiosity as he stopped and turned to her, and she was glad that disdain wasn't directed at her. She tucked her arms behind her back for a lack of anything to do with them, tilting her head to the side. The woman stepped entirely off the ramp so it could close, but she still listened intently. It was a lot of information to take in, truth be told, but her interest was piqued. For some reason, the way the man spoke made it seem more interesting then just being taught by a partial teacher. "They don't do well with being gone against, do they?"

Not drawn into distractions? Right. The whole group they were now associated with was a distraction in Nel's mind. She dared not voice that though. Some opinions were best kept to one's self. Especially with that grin that spread over her Master's face. It was different then the one he had given her earlier, almost predatory in nature. It was definitely a wise idea to keep her mouth shut right now. She tilted her head to the side as she followed the man, her mind dredging back to her history lessons. There wasn't much she remembered, as history had actually been one subject she didn't pay that much attention to. There was too much going on in the world in the present that looking to the past seemed like a bad idea. It was nipping her in the rear now.
The young woman quickly took a breathing mask and put it over her face as her master had done, her eyes on the man, her thoughts still coalescing. What she knew was very little. "I... know that there was a group a long time ago that separated from the Jedi Order... Due to a difference in mindset and beliefs, correct? They... the Sith, became mortal enemies of the Jedi for that. I will admit that I don't remember that much more about it beyond that. I was always more interested in current affairs."
She went quiet, waiting for some sort of berating from her teacher. Nel knew she should have paid more attention in the past, but what had the point been back then? Yes, history could repeat itself if not paid attention to, but there were always conflicts that rose up in current times that were more directly a threat. Surely Stormro knew more, especially if he was asking her what she knew. Obviously she knew next to nothing, now that she voiced what she did know.

Nel found herself unable to stop the scoff that came from her mouth. Though it wasn't a scoff of disbelief. It was a noise more of agreement. From what she'd only seen so far, many seemed to focus more on the physical side of things and a lot of Jedi even seemed dependent on the Force. Even so, Stormro was willing to teach her, despite her own weakness. That warmed her some. Someone saw value in her for the first time in a long time. Back at the academy, it often seemed like the teachers were merely tolerating her because it was their job. Perhaps that wasn't how it actually was, but to her young mind, it was actually what had happened. Still, her memories went to her friend: the one person who had stood by her and done all he could to help her grow stronger.
And even with all that strength and ability, he was now dead. Why? She had no answers for that one. To live without the Force, though... that would be an interesting endeavor. One she found herself honestly looking forward to. A challenge awaited in learning all she could, and it lit a fire in her heart to see it through. She'd do all she could to become stronger, whatever that manifested as in her future. She lifted her head, realizing she'd been gazing down at her clasped hands as she pondered and thought about what her Mentor had just told her. She owed the man a lot for saving her and pulling her from her depression - even if that had been merely throwing her to Kashyyk and showing her she could survive. Learning under him was the least she could do, she realized.
Nel nodded. She liked the sound of being just as dangerous without the Force as with it. Her attention was drawn to the window though, as they came to land on their new home. "... What'll I be learning first, Master?"

Nel clasped her fingers together, leaning forward attentatively as her Master spoke. Some of it went over her head a bit, but she still tucked most of it away for later mulling over. Sapience and sentience? She wasn't quite sure what the difference was between the two, but there obviously a difference with the way Stormro talked about it. She nodded appropriately to show she was still listening, her attention not once losing focus. She'd always been a good student, or at least tried to be at any rate, even if putting what she learned into practice had always been her shortfall.
And then he had commented about outliving many of his comrades despite his own weakness and she instantly knew why. Those with power often flaunted it and relished it, making them a much more open target for those that knew what they were looking for. The man's grin, though, made her eyes widened. It was a nice grin, making the man almost seem youthful and far less jaded then he usually came across as to her. Her own smile tugged at her own lips in response. A natural reaction, really. Then again though, the lack of power had always made her feel inadequate when it came to her accomplishments and the smile faded as she looked at her feet. Her fingers wrung more tightly together and she leaned back, away from him and the conversation.
She had been led to think a certain way - that use with the Force was important for being effective. There were no other paths. It had never occurred to her that other roads were available if she looked through the brambles, so to speak. "I can only dream of being anywhere near like you, Master. You certainly have a way with words."
She turned to look out at the planet below them, pulling herself inward as she thought about what her Master was presenting to her. Beyond just his research, he was offering her a chance to be successful with the Force, even if it wasn't a commonly viewed path. She wasn't sure she'd be witty enough or have the finesse to pull off anything... but she had the determination to do what she was needed of her, and to thrive. She'd survived on Kashykk for crying out loud! Her spine straightened. Yeah. She definitely could do what was asked of her... it just would take a lot of work, as everything else in her life. "But... that's what you're willing to teach me, huh?"

The correction made her look away and towards the window of the cockpit, watching things move and shift as they themselve moved into place. She was partly correct, at least, and a small amount of pride filled her chest. She kept herself from leaning back in the seat, as the bruises on her shoulder blades ached slightly and would only hurt more if she put pressure on them. A year on Kashyyk... It seemed so much simpler now then what they were dealing with, with what she was dealing with.A part of her missed it. She looked at the control panel in front of her, thinking of what she knew.
"It's... been a long time since I did any reading on it or learned about it... but they're what allows Force sensitive individuals to exist in a way. Without them, we wouldn't be able to use the Force. It's theorized that life wouldn't be able to exist without Midi-chlorians." Force sensitivity... Talking about it made her remember just how weak she was in that department. What had made the Jedi take her in for training, exactly? She didn't have the answer for that. The Zabrak folded her arms over her chest, looking deep in thought. "Midi-chlorians are often studied by Jedi-healers and non Jedi medical professionals alike into how they work and stuff like that."
Was that really all Nel knew? She scrambled in her own mind for more. She knew more about the topic then that! She knew she did! The knowledge was just buried under a lot of other things, it felt like, keeping her from accessing it. She put her face in her hand, rubbing at the bridge of her nose as she tried to remember. "I was often told that if I quieted myself and listened, they would speak to me... Not sure how that works, really, but... That's all I can really remember at the moment."
She looked over to the man apologetically. She wanted to be of help, to show she wasn't stupid, but she really felt like she'd failed that task. "Sorry, Master. Like I said, it's been a while."

Her steps quickened to keep up with the man, and the apprentice found herself even more curious as he mentioned the replica droids as being merely an 'extension' of his actual work. Only an extension? Tricking a system into making chitin rather then skin was merely an _extension_ of what he was really wanting to try? Of course, his next words stopped the zabrak in her tracks on the ramp, blinking at Stormro's back. Was such a thing even feasible to think about? Midichlorians in something so profoundly non organic and working?
"I can imagine." The words were out of her mouth before she even could stop them, and by then it was too late. As she thought about it, in a way it seemed possible, but the rest of her mind seemed in disagreement on the matter. Nel quickly followed after her master when her mind started functioning again, joining him in the cockpit and continuing to listen. She herself had no experience in the field which he spoke of, and so wasn't sure she could keep up with him on the topic, but it was still fascinating what little she knew about the universe around her. Absently, she slid into the co-pilot seat, noting that she still wore Belbe's body suit under the tatters of her old clothes. A faint part of her noted she really needed new robes, but that wasn't the focus of her thoughts. "Could it be because you're using droids and not something actually organic, Master? I mean..."
The droids could pass as living beings at a glance, and they got more sophisticated constantly, but they still weren't actually living creatures. At least, not to her understanding of it. She just hoped she hadn't stepped over her bounds by voicing her opinion, no matter how uneducated it might have been.

The smile he gave Nel was unsettling to her nerves, but she held her own tongue in that regard. She didn't like that they were working with such... unstable individuals, but there wasn't anywhere else for her to go, and so she would follow her Master's decisions, even if she disagreed with them. She wasn't nearly strong enough to survive on her own, and she recognized that. She could make do on an isolated planet by herself, but dealing with other people and what lurked in society? That she was sure she couldn't handle on her own just yet.
Any other questions? None that she felt needed sharing right now, at least. There were things best kept to herself while she formulated how best to ask them. She didn't have enough information to ask a proper question, anyways. She followed quickly behind her teacher and mentor, listening to him speak. Her training... Yeah, that'd be nice to not be stuck on a spacecraft for that. After the freedom and open areas, being in such tight confines made her feel almost... uneasy. She wasn't entirely sure why, but it did. Another mystery to solve another time, she was certain. "What kind of things are you studying, exactly, Master?"
It was more an open and curious question. What would a man as smart as Stormro have want to study for? What would catch his eye in such a way to make him want to investigate it more? That was what she wanted an answer to, rather then something to judge him for. If she wanted, she had plenty to go off of in that department as it was.

Nel stood there, quiet for a moment. Yes, it answered her questions, but she still didn't like it. Still, she needed to learn to trust her Master's judgement. Being left on a planet "alone" for a year had messed with her ability to properly socialize, and she still didn't know much about her own Master, regardless of what he knew of her. She mentally sighed before she nodded. The answers were adequate, but not satisfactory, but she couldn't bring herself to say so. They had things to do, and quickly at that, before this tenuous alliance of sith crumbled around them.
As for the Geonosian replica droid, she was familiar with the race, and it suddenly made a lot more sense why the man in front of her had needed to trick the machine into producing chitin. A part of her wished she was as intelligent as Stormro, but it probably wouldn't be for a long time when that actually came to fruition. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves as best as she was able before she looked to her Master. "I still don't like it, Master. But what choice do we have right now?"

Nel swallowed as she listened, her eyes on the bodies in the tanks. They weren't really... bodies, technically, were they? An odd sense of curiosity came over her, her feet taking a step closer to the nearest tank. With the initial shock and unease passed, she looked more critically at what was in front of her. They weren't really living, per se, but nonetheless, their structures and what went into making them was fascinating in a visceral sense. A part of her was disturbed by it, but at the same time, this was new. She paused as Stormro gave her the floor so to speak and she turned her dark gaze to him. "Why chitin, Master? And why are we forced to work with idiots? The two other would be apprentices are out of control, unstable. And as I've seen of Ty at least, unreliable. And Phantom's temper... that could easily undo any work we try to accomplish. So... why?"
She'd already said her piece on them before, but to her, these were concerns worth noting, and while she had the privacy to speak her mind, she sought to use it, as she had no idea when she'd be able to talk so freely again with him.

Nel quickly rose at the 'command' to walk with Stormro, her steps quick as she followed behind him. The tight corridors, though, had the young Zabrak on edge. Where were they going? What exactly needed tending to now of all times? The lack of crew and the small quarters made her think the place was all but abandoned... Haunted. She mentally shuddered at the idea, the logical side of her mind scolding her for such thoughts. It was just an illusion of her surroundings, nothing more. There was nothing haunted about this place. Then, they came to the sterile space at the end of all those corridors... and this setting unsettled her even more then the cramped space they had just left.
Even though it was more open then the areas they were just in, there was something... eerie about the sterility and the different tanks that lined the wall. Especially that first humanoid they came to that still formed in the tank. She swallowed the disgust that reared its head up, though she couldn't stop the step back she took away from the tank. She listened to the man speak with almost pride regarding the space they were in. Medical facilities if needed, but primarily a lab where things were created... Her eyes snapped to the man. Her thoughts on his projects? The space around Nel was still sinking in, and he wanted her thoughts? Something niggled at the back of her thoughts as her gaze went to the mass of tissue and mechanical parts. Something he had said earlier...
"Replica droids, Master?" It was a guess, a stab in the dark as she remembered his comment about using them to better infiltrate and take over more subtly. Her eyes went back to the pink skinned woman, and her unblinking gaze and she shuddered.

Nel listened quietly, her attention on her teacher as she took in what the older man said. It... it was a lot to take in, honestly, but she was trying. Learning more about the others helped pieces connect more and she nodded at his reveal about Ferinus. Seemed Ferinus may have had more to teach her then she had originally credited him with, but he still unsettled her. Why though, she couldn't quite put her finger on. As the topic moved on to Makhai, her eyes narrowed some in annoyance. The impetuousness of youth. She was even beholden to that, unfortunately. It was what had led to her outburst at the table earlier, and that reminder eased her annoyance, at least a degree. She still disliked him, but Makhai's first impression with her had not been a good one. Nel dared not point out that her own foundation was flawed, for she had started as a Jedi, but the man had a point regardless. She needed to be patient, if nothing else. Learn and bide her time, like a plant absorbed sunlight to grow.
And then the topic came to her emotions, and she steeled herself, expecting to be put in line... but... It didn't come. He embraced what she had said, and it left her momentarily confused, especially that warm smile. Why was he smiling, and should she be worried? Nel did want to point out that she technically was not a true Sith yet, but again she held her tongue, merely listening still. She shuddered at the idea of emotions taking her over. Only once had it happened and she had been scolded for it. The shame had overridden any strength gained from it and she had cast it aside to be forgotten. Still though, the emotions and memory prodded at her, wanting to be remembered, but she did her best to ignore it. "I certainly will do my best, Master. But even still, even a babe stumbles with the first few steps they take, correct?"
