Battlegroup Freedom, in high Polar Orbit
With the breakup of the Republic, the Republic Navy had obviously fractured, but the fleets raised by the Five Brothers were quickly and efficiently folded back into the CDF command structure, just as they had been before the Galactic Republic had called for their inclusion into a centralized Navy. Battlegroup Freedom had been no exception. While Admiral Jacen Korr took command on Corellia, Captain Whyren's remained with his flagship, keeping station over Selonia and providing assistance as needed to the other four worlds and the Corellian and Selonian Shipyards. Much like the fine whiskey named for his distant ancestor, Whyren hoped his fleet and his men were getting better with age.

From the depths of hyperspace, a Bothan Assault Cruiser would be detected coming into Selonian space. It exited right above the planet, bearing the markings of the Galactic Alliance. Graemon seriously needed to fix that, seeing as his fleet more or less was a part of the forming Tapani Home Guard. But that was an issue for another time though. As the elected representative of Fondor and the main authority within the system, Baron Gorgano had come to Corellia on a diplomatic venture. The Core's future, and surrounding territories were uncertain given the decline of the Galactic Alliance and the ever-expanding borders of the First Order. He had heard of Corellia's movements and it made him curious. The man had been here once before and recalled the relative prosperity and strength of the Corellian system, still unified after all these many millenium. Perhaps they were the future that was needed in this region of space.
Once permission was granted, Graemon Gorgano headed down to the planetside to, hopefully, ensure the future of Fondor and its sister territories of Thyferra and Kiffex. The future would start here, the Fondorian hoped.

Entering orbit a shuttle crossed the distance to the nearest exit lane and made the jump to hyperspace. The captain turned to Rhiannon -Captain C. Captain- "I heard you right?" Gaze falling hard on the man she responded -Rhiannon- "You most certainly did!" Turning to Maureen the woman spoke tenderly -Rhiannon- "Make yourself comfy dear...." The captain gave a simple nod and the pilot moved

Bridge, Nebula-class Star Destroyer JusticeWhen the shuttle pilot arrived on the bridge, Admiral Korr was giving his final instructions to the fleet before departing for the surface.=Admiral Jacen Korr=--dispatch both DP-20s to Corellia for maintenance. CEC is offering all Coalition forces a complete modernization and refit of their gunships. A series of acknowledgements from the captains crackled over the holocom, and Jacen nodded to the comms officer, who ended the transmission. Turning and walking slowly toward the rear of the bridge, the admiral paused for a moment. "Vice Admiral Whyren, by the time I return tomorrow, I want to see the completed projections on ship capabilities. The CDF has allocated funds for overhauling the entire fleet, and we shouldn't keep them or the Coalition waiting." =Vice Admiral Blair Whyren="Yes, sir." The flagship Justice's commanding officer responded, saluting. =Adm. Jacen Korr="You are in command until I return, Vice Admiral." The veteran naval officer said as he returned the salute.Korr nodded to the shuttle pilot and they exited the bridge. A few moments later, a small military shuttle detached from the aging star destroyer, and descended toward L'pwacc Spaceport.

In high polar orbit
Receiving their orders from Admiral Korr, the commanders of the two aged frigates relayed their orders to their respective crews, and then instructed their navigators to set a course for a hyperspace microjump to Corellia. Acting in well-synchronized order, achieved through long practice, the ships blinked out of Selonia's orbit simultaneously.
Remaining in orbit were the Nebula-class star destroyer Justice, herself slated for the scrap yards in the near future, after decades of loyal service, and her much newer escorts, a pair of MC-140 Scythe-class cruisers and a pair of CR-92a Corellian Corvettes, plus their fighter escorts. Alongside the various defense emplacements in geostationary equatorial orbits, the small shipyard for domestic starship construction, and the nearly ever-present medical frigates coming and going from the Five Worlds Medical Center, it was a crowded orbit.
Bridge, Nebula-class Star Destroyer Justice
=Vice Admiral Whyren= As soon as Admiral Korr's shuttle and the frigates had departed, Whyren walked over to his chief engineer's console.
"Show me everything you have on those Coalition star destroyer options."

A squadron of the Neimoidian's Scorpid fighter wing, consisting of T-85 X-wings, screens the orbit of Selonia on the orders of Senator Findos. While the Corellian Coalition's fleet within the sector was keeping the sector safe from pirates, given the presence of at least one Nebula-class Star Destroyer and other Corellian vessels in orbit, the Neimoidians were nontheless careful, when it came to movements from Imperial space into the Corellian sectors. With the Aglais being repaired and stationed on Corellia, squadrons from the Lucrehulk capital ship can be sent with ease to surrounding systems in order to ensure their safety. Informing the Selonian shipyards of their presence and activities within the system, the squadron leader briefly contacted the nearby harbour, before they would continiue with the routine patrol, checking by-passing freighters, who approached the system for their identification.

Battlegroup Freedom, in high polar orbit
The bridge crew of the Justice tracked the arrival and flyby of the passing fighter wing, quickly tagging them as allied forces, and relaying the identification to the Selonian Shipyards and the Corellian Defense Forces' ground-based space traffic control stations. Such flybys had long been a part of defense cooperation among the worlds of the Five Brothers, and it was good to see such efforts, largely neglected in the aftermath of the collapse of the Galactic Alliance, now being expanded upon by other Coalition members.
A passing pair of YT-5100 bombers, out on a training exercise, dipped their wings in salute as they crossed in front of the Coalition T-85s, maintaining a safe distance as they practiced approach flights to each starfighter bay door of the Nebula-class Justice.

Bridge, Nebula-class Star Destroyer JusticeHaving completed their discussion and analysis of the various flagship options, Whyren and his advisors were in agreement concerning the future of the Justice.=Vice Admiral Whyren=The Vice Admiral nodded. "So it's decided, then. The Nebula-class still offers the best capabilities for our mission parameters, and any upgrade to a newer star destroyer would not pass a CDF cost-benefit review, due to the minimal increases in strike capability." He pressed a button on the display to close the star destroyer schematics that had been displayed on the holoprojector. "So, let's move on to our review of the remaining capital ships. What do we have in the frigate class?" =Procurement Attaché="Sir, there's a new model just released by CEC that I think you really ought to see." She reached over to the holoprojector and began to scroll through the CEC catalog. "Remember how Admiral Korr said we need to get quicker with our medium-size strike capabilities?" The female Nikto's scaly finger paused on the Corellian Fast Attack Frigate. "Here she is!" =Navigation Officer="Wow. Now that's a bold concept." The Drall navigator almost wriggled on his high stool, and there were one or two other audible gasps.=Vice Admiral Whyren="Well, hello there." He exclaimed, impressed. There was an extended pause while all members of the review group studied the plans, and exchanged meaningful looks.=Procurement Attaché="Shall I add her to the list, then, sir?" The procurement officer persisted, after a few moments.=Vice Admiral Whyren="Yes." Whyren replied. "Just one for now - Admiral Korr's budget parameters don't allow for more at this time."

Battlegroup Freedom, in high polar orbit
As the weeks rolled by, the upgrades to Battlegroup Freedom began to take physical form.
First, a brand new Corellian Fast Attack Frigate arrived from the CEC yard on Corellia, with a fresh crew aboard, much to the excitement (and some jealousy) of the senior fleet officers. Naturally, they immediately had to put the Frigate's speed to the test, with time trials to check her raw speed, and war games to test her speed against the sensors and weapons systems of the rest of the fleet. The results were almost immediately classified.
Then, the DP-20 gunships returned, their refit now completed, priming them for decades of additional service. With their new couplings and support structures to carry a starfighter complement, six Corellian Tracers were transferred over from the Justice to each gunship, clearing space in the Justice's own hangars for some of the newer starfighters that were being added into the mix to diversify her complement. New interceptors and shuttles were on order, and would be arriving soon.

Deployed recently from Corellia to join what remains of Selonia's defensive fleet after the First Order attack on the Five Worlds, the CDF Proficient-class light cruiser, The Cybele, has been patrolling near the Selonian shipyards, still undergoing repairs, while the other CDF ships, two Assassin-class corvettes and a CC5000 frigate, take up patrol routes over the planet's northern and southern hemispheres. HLAF-500 starfighters from each ship fly combat air patrols regularly, thusfar having encountered nothing more troubling than the occasional shipping freighter in distress or a smuggling vessel unfortunate enough to choose the wrong hyperspace lane to emerge from at the wrong time.
On the bridge of the CDF Assassin-class corvette, The Prisca, the comms officer, SPC Marcellina D'Avanzo opens a channel to the YV-865 Aurore-class freighter that has just popped into realspace over Selonia's southern hemisphere, instructing its captain to hold his position while routine scans are conducted and its crew and cargo manifests are reviewed. The Aurore proves to be an anticipated arrival, having departed from Drall bearing medical equipment and medicines destined for the Five Worlds Medical Center. Marcellina, after the red tape has all been dealt with, sends the Aurore its assigned course and then suppresses a yawn as she glances at a wall chrono to see how much longer she has until her shift ends.

Selonian Shipyards, Sector 12-D
Months have passed since the First Order attack on the Five Worlds, and the Selonian Shipyards were now fully repaired, and back in operation.
The shipyard security officer yawned, and scratched her tawny fur. It was hard to stay awake on third shift, but she'd already had three cups of stim-caf, and if she had anyone, she wouldn't fall asleep until at least noon. Blinking rapidly, she glanced down at the endlessly dull and unchanging security holos once again--then froze. Something was different. Suddenly wide awake, her paws tightened around the control knobs as she watched two dark shapes creeping along a platform toward one of the derelict Mon Cal cruisers that CEC was in the process of scrapping. Rewinding the feed, she watched as they climbed through a window from Sector 12-C, and began their furtive approach. Clenching her jaw, she pressed the silent alarm, then felt for her blaster pistol on her belt, and slipped noiselessly from her seat.

CDF Battlegroup Freedom
Technically, CDF naval headquarters was on Corellia, but the bridge of the Justice, Admiral Korr's Nebula-class flagship, was so thoroughly tied into every naval communications and command channel that it might as well be viewed as an extension of the central hub on Corellia, especially whenever the Justice was in system and need not rely upon hypercom relays. One of those many communications channels lit up with a report detailing several missed check-ins from the defense forces on Froz, in the outlying areas of the sector.
One of the recently-refitted DP-20 Corellian Gunships separated from the fleet, climbing away from Selonia and leaving the fleet's polar orbit behind. Carrying a complement of six Corellian Tracers, the gunships now made a more effective solo patrol vessel, and their mission parameters had been expanded to covering patrol and reconnaissance assignments throughout the Corellian sector. Escaping the gravity well of the oceanic planet far below, the DP-20 flared into hyperspace moments later, leaving the star system behind.
