Looking for writers

Essentially, a long time ago, an alien by the name of Arcturus Sorrows entered the House Guard of an unnamed Great House. A member of along lived species, he served the house for several generations, becoming a legendary general on the planet, and eventually singlehandedly saved the Great House Assembly from destruction. As a reward, they named him a son of Serenno, and gave him noble status. As a Count, his House, House Sorreaux (Sorrow more popularly to the commoner), rose in power to eventually become a Great House, and handled the military affairs of Serenno to a wide extent. Being grateful to his adoptive home for accepting him as one of their own, he chose to replicate the tradition, adopting two sons, Dante Deveaux and Jace Stealer. They in turn became Commanders of the houses armies, and gained a prestigious reputation for themselves as well. The name Sorrow pretty much became synonymous with patrician military service. When Arcturus died, Dante gained control of the house, and Jace became General of the army of Serenno.

About this time there was a civil war (which is referred to as the "second" civil war, the Sorrows quelling a first while Arcturus was alive), breaking out in the wake of Arcturus' death: they sought to undermine the alien led house and restore a "pure" Serenno. This war was led by the Demici's, along with half a dozen smaller houses. The war was vicious, and thousands were lost on both sides. Eventually though, the war was won by house Sorreaux defeating Demici. The wheel was already turning though, and in an effort to quiet the other Houses, Sorreaux was "absorbed" by Demici. In actuality, Dante and Jace simply assumed the titles of Demici, since most of the Demici line was dead. They reasoned this as SOMEONE had to continue the line forward for future generations. This stifled any insurrections, and pleased the other houses. War was averted, for a time anyway.

After the war, the Great Assembly had to be reconstructed, and this saw the rise of many other houses into power (this coincides with one of my attempts to build a Court of Counts on the site some time ago, which had good reception, but ultimately failed due to poor execution). In their fledgling stages, the Court was assaulted by a rogue group of the Death Watch, who murdered en masse the leaders of the Court (Again, actual RP from about a year ago. I cant remember the Death Watches leader, though. I suppose I could go back and look for the posts if I had to). Serenno was embroiled in a third war, the destruction from the Death Watch and their armies, rioting, and opportunistic inter-house warfare destroying the better part of the capitol and major cities.

In the end, Great Houses Nalju, Comprassi, and Malvern stopped the war and re-instituted order. Searching for someone to blame, to shift the anger over the war from the nobility to, well, ANYONE else, house Demici - the House in charge of Serenno's military readiness, was blamed for allowing the breach of security. Demici, a house that prided itself on intelligence and counter-insurgency, who also trained the commandoes for the Serenno Internal Security Service, took the full blame for what would become known as the "Death Watch Crisis". Demici was dissolved, their holdings absorbed by other Houses, and all nobles were either stripped of nobility entirely, or relegated to a mere shadow of what they had been. Jace and Dante became Dukes, and wandered the galaxy in exile to try and find penance for their sins. The Demici assets and territory shrank to nothing - spanning a mere Duchy instead of a sizable portion of the planet, her capitol a manor in a fishing community.

Which brings us to the CURRENT time period. Dante has returned, having served his exile, and is under the employ of Great House Comprassi, one of the ruling houses of the Great Assembly Tribunal, as a Captain of the House Guard. A mere baron, he controls the Vraight Duchy - last of the old Demici estates - which are now Comprassi territories. He, and a goodly portion of the RP, will take place within this Duchy, out of the Duchy manor of Dourstone. At his disposal: a hundred men, fifteen servants, and his personal entourage (anyone who wants to join the RP), as has been allotted to him by the Count Comprassi. Once again he will try and climb the political ladder; others see this as an opportunity to rise with him, to gain riches, fame, or political or noble power. Others work against him, fearing for their positions of nobility and their patrician station; they work to stop him and anyone associated with him.
