Zahn smiled and gave a solemn nod of his head at the Emperor's praiseGotta have them in the army, otherwise those navy folks might think too highly of themselves... He offered up a chuckle. The Army/Navy rivalry was something nearly every nation had to deal with. Each arm had its uses and would be in dire trouble without the other. But it did not stop them from saying they were superior to the otherI think Grand Moff Thul might feel a little uncomfortable having her predecessor take up office on Kuat. Coruscant will keep me and my men close to the action and at the ready should they be needed. Nicademus understood the reasoning of Grand Marshal Zahn, but it wasn't like him to set up office and wait. Perhaps there was something the Emperor could do to help him. An appointment that could give more for the Grand Marshal to achieve and oversee. An idea popped into his mind as the Imperial turned to Zahn. How about an appointment then, Grand Marshal? Perhaps your expertise would be good over at Corulag in overseeing the training and education of our Stormtrooper cadets at the academy? How does that sound, Zahn? The teenager stands up now looking at the Emperor. She had been "inspected" and interviewed by superiors quite often already, and in her mind this was no different. A superior was a superior no matter how high up the chain for command. Thank you, your Highness. She was eager to answer his question at first, before realizing how silly cadet unit names could be. Plaid Lothcats was not a great name for a unit outside of an Academy. She regained her composer before giving the slightly embarising answer. I lead the Plaid um... Lothcats unit. I was made the XO of the unit a year and a half ago, and then full command a year ago. The squad is often changing, many of my squamates are moved to other units quicker than most. They are often made XOs of other units. Its hard to get well known that way. But I like seeing my former teammates advance. Akulas hadn't gathered that she was doing so well as a leader that the people were transferred quickly. The Grand Moff had issued an order that she not be directly told this. The Plaid Lothcats you say?The Emperor glances behind him as an attendant came into view. A datapad is handed to the Imperial as he brings up the files from the New Caridan Academy. A quick overview of the units performance showed that her story was true. Many of her partners were transferred to other units to serve as XOs and others showed great promise in tactical and leadership skills, not to mention a soldier's prowess. Nicademus puts the datapad away and looks at the cadet.Impressive marks, Cadet. You show great promise as a Stormtrooper, both as a commander and a loyal soldier.Lightly, the male taps his chin, pondering for a moment.Perhaps I can speak with Grand Moff Thul about your unit's transfer. These marks are ideal for those who are worthy to join the 501st Legion or the Imperial Guard. They have their own regimen, located on Coruscant. If she approves, I will see about this favor to you and your unit on the grounds of your expertise.Talent was rewarded, merit was recognized. The Emperor's eye for such things had not dulled the slightest.Who knows, perhaps you may even one day serve my son as his personal guards.

After spending the last couple years leading campaigns in the Unknown Regions and through fringes of the Outer Rim, bringing more worlds into the First Order's fold, settling on Coruscant seemed like a nice reprieve. After all, it seemed unlikely that the current peace would hold forever. But to have the Emperor so suddenly suggest an appointment almost caught Zahn off guard. Especially to head up the Stormtrooper training academy on Corulag.
While it wasn't exactly what he had in mind for the next step in his career, there was certainly an advantage to accepting the position. Not that there was any real choice in the matter if he was honest. He was dedicated to serving the Empire, and if the Emperor wanted him to head up the Corulag Academy, then that was the duty he would performI serve at Your Majesty's pleasure. If you think I should oversee the training of cadets on Corulag, then that is what I shall do. Your wisdom and strategy have gotten the First Order to this point after all.

Not since that business with the terrorists on Kuat... Thank you for backing up my play. It was over kill, but that's how you can guarantee success. She reflexively brushed the non existent dust her uniform. Deep down she was a little frustrated about that incident on the rings of Kuat. She had mobilized for a full on asult by a new enemy of the First Order, this was the correct response. However, when it turned out to be a group of over ambitious pirates without any larger connections it was a let down.I hope everything has been well. Annelise has sent glowing reports of the hospitality of those under you, thank you for instilling that in your people.

The teenager couldn't stop from blushing. She still always struggled receiving praise. In her mind, she did what she was asked to do, she didn't see herself as elite. Hearing the most powerful man in the galaxy praise her this way was a lot to take in. The 501st is the dream of every cadet in any academy in the First Order, and likely many outside our borders. Thank you for thinking that one day I could serve with them. The next part she had to focus her thinking on. Standash had been teaching her to speak diplomatically. It would be a great honor to be a royal guard, but she was a soldier. That was all she had ever wanted to be. Guard duty always struck her as boring, she wanted to be fighting the enemies and bring peace and stability. She had never seen the prince, she really had no idea what he even looked like, but she had heard he was a strong force user and was serving the Imperial Knights. Maybe with that, she may get to see action serving him, but it still sounded like a lot of sitting around on Coruscant. There is no greater honor than protecting you and your family Your Majesty.

Jenia nodded, glad that the fellow Grand Moff seemed to have noticed her efforts back then. When it came to her protege though, there wasn't much she could say. "Oh right, you had written me about her visit at Ilum", she remembered, telling Standash directly about her own thoughts, "Unfortunately I was occupied with other problems at the time, as there was an uprising at Adumar and ongoing talks with the Mandalorians on Agamar. The situation so far is back under controll, but I'm sure that Rear Admiral Viggo and those, that administrate the planet have done their best to help out your emissary. Sometimes it can be a burden to lead others, as your presence will be required nearly everywhere. To think what weight the shoulders of the Emperor must carry, when considering him to be the overall rightful ruler of the known galaxy, must be astonishing from the perspective of a mere citizen." She almost sounded bitter, though her admiration towards none other than the First Order's leader swallowed this brief manifestation of surpressed feelings.

A broad smile graced her lips as she pulled back a little, her gaze meeting Jin's. Her friend had certainly grown up, but she was definitely still the same person. She was just glad her friends training had gone well so farGood! I've certainly noticed that as well... Though it's not the only thing training with the Ren has affected... I've missed you Jin... She hugged her friendly tightly again, not wanting to let go and break the contactPerhaps now you'll be able to come to Prakith? Or, at least, you'll want to come... Fiora blushed a little, feeling embarrassed. This wasn't exactly the setting or moment to really ask that question, but her mouth had moved a little faster than her brain had been able to process Jin couldn't help but beam at Fiora. They had been apart for some time. Jin's training had taken her not only form Corucant but also from Prakith. However, things seemed to be about to change for the Empire and that meant change for everyone. It may even mean she'd be able to return to the Ren headquarters. I certainly hope I will. My current instructor has been leading me on all manor of assignments. But right now there seems to be a chance I could convince him to return to Prakith. I mean, who else is gonna watch your back?

Standash smiled, but worried about her friend. She had learned a lot from Jenia, as a military mind, she had skills and understanding that Standash would never fully poses. But the Admiral was not the politician and ruler that Standash was. It could be very easy to get burnt out if you apply one way of leadership to the other. Delegation was very important, and you could not beat yourself up for doing it. Standash had put many things totally under the responsibilities of others, yes she held them accountable, but those tasks belonged to them. That let Standash focus on the the things she was uniquely qualified for. She felt that the Emperor operated very similar. Otherwise it would overwhelm him and the First Order would suffer. She had made it a point to talk to Octavian and Fiora about this whenever she could about this. Finding people to trust and letting them handle things is the only way to rule. That had been a fatal flaw of many governments.Trusting people is very important, when you can it lets you view so much more.

This was something she could silently agree on. Trust was important. Always would remain important. "Either way, if she wishes to arrange a meeting with me, she's always welcome to do so", she then proceeded in order to shift the topic back to Mrs. Sitar and her current mission, "Or if there are in general people you'd like to introduce me to. After all there is need for all kinds of officers at our border regions and the better expierienced they are, the better it is." Given that Standash was overseeing important planets like Kuat and Carida, when it came to the training of new officers and soldiers, that would serve their time under the First Order, the question didn't seem too odd. Of course Kasalle had her own training projects running, when it came to improve the qualities of her soldiers, mainly the Novatrooper project she was successfully maintaining in order to grant the Empire more efficient elite squadrons within the ranks of their troops. Yet it was always good to check on how the other Grand Moffs were doing, as things didn't just came down to one oversector, when it meant to feature one's talents.

Truth be told, I am not entirely sure what her mission was there. I trust her, if she has an idea she has the freedom to run with it. I just read the report that what she hoped to find didn't seem to pan out.Standash did know that it had something to do with crystal properties, but after the introduction said that there was no evidence she skipped to the part about the state of the trip and crew reports. Annelise had not included the follow up with the Imperial Knights. Had she read the entire thing in detail, Standash would have likely realized Annelise's idea. There are a few. I did bring along one of the star cadets of the Carida Academy. Akulas Ecklund. She is very impressive. I don't know that I have seen leadership potential like hers before. She is not where I would like her to be as a tactician, but who is as a teenager. That is why we have academies though. That is her over there by Emperor Nicademus Delvardus IV and Grand Marshall Thomas Zahn.

Somewhat wondering, Jenia looked over towards the cadet, wondering what the deal with her was. It seemed like the Emperor himself and the Grand Marshall had also taken an interest in talking with her. She seemed very young, yet that didn't had to mean anything. Jenia herself had witnessed the horrors of war quite early on in her career after she had left Kuat's academies for service within the First Order's fleets. "I assume when it comes to leadership, you mean leadership as a politician?", she inquired the fellow Grand Moff further, as she looked away from the cadet, "Or do we talk about military leadership?"

Standash has to stifle a laugh. Politicly, her new protégé was as lost as a Tuskin in a snow storm. Standash could practically feel the girls tension from here. No, unfortunately she has shown next to know political acumen. I have been trying to work with her on it, but that has been slow, up till this point now and meeting him, i wonder if she was even sure the Emperor was a real person. I can all but grantee she is more nervous around the Grand Marshal than His Majesty. She is a soldier through and through. She leads a squad of nothings, and they all get better and get command of their own squads. Then we give her nothings again, and she repeats. People want to be their best around her, I have never seen someone that inspires like her. She falls into empathy for her men. All to accomplish the task. She is also smart enough to know when to listen to those who are smarter than her in areas. We have actually sent her to lead cadet squads on actual field exercises. Simple things, escort missions, shuttle and personal retrieval, courier service, that kind of thing. She has done well. If she was a year or so older, I would put her in for early commission.

To grace them with the presence of a Grand Marshal would be a boon to the cadets there. Ensure that the recruits are ready for the arduous tasks of garrisoning worlds, conquering battlefields, and ensuring the glory of the Empire. The Imperial needed someone to head up Corulag for what was to come after all.Besides, we will need the legions in the near future. And your proven skill with your own men will ensure a crack force.Plans had been formulated around the time Zahn had re-enlisted with Imperial High Command. Baltasar was handling most of the operational planning with the other senior officers. Zahn was best for being the vanguard leader and such a position would need a honed spear tip.

Octavian smiled at the reunion of his sister and her best friend, Jin Song, one of the few that had truly remained. So many had just simply left Fiora's side without another glance and it was a bit disheartening to see that happen. They had loved her as a princess, but left when she went to become a Ren... Jin didn't see that at least. She saw a person beyond title and rank. He had ensured to arrange this cause the Imperial knew that this was a good time for the pair to reunite and have a good day together. As he turned to move, Octavian pauses and looks at Harnan, one of his mother's old companions. He didn't say anything, just looked at the Ren before moving on.
The young Imperial shuffled through the crowds, greeting those who did the same to him. As he moved through, the Crown Prince managed to stumble upon a meeting that included his father, Grand Marshal Zahn, and a female cadet. As Octavian moved through the crowd, he accidentally bumped into Akulas Ecklund 's shoulder.Excuse me there, Cadet. The Imperial Squire says as he raises his hand in apology. He quickly looks behind him at the gap that had closed cause people never bothered to notice.

Akulas feels the thud from behind. She was not a large girl be she was significantly strong, and recovered quickly. She turns to see a young man about her age. She had never seen him before. His uniform was not one she recognized either. It looked rather elite and specialized. She figured it was from a special privet academy, she knew that they existed and some wealthy and noble families sent their children there instead of Carida or Corulag. She remembered the lessons Standash had drilled into her about meeting noble children, how to be polite but also hold your own. She was a Cadet in very good standing, and one of the highest cadet rankings available from an elite academy, even if he was from the most exclusive she was still not that far beneath him. But she smiled, it was easy he was kind of cute. That's quite alright, this place is very crowded. I like your uniform, what academy are you a cadet at? It is nice that the leaders let us cadets enjoy these functions. She was very pleased with her response. She was very respectful, acknowledged admiration, did not belittle herself, and found common ground. She was sure that Standash would be very pleased.

Octavian was set on speaking with his father, but the female cadet spoke first. He looks back at Ecklund with a raised eyebrow. He looks down at his outfit, pulling on the collar slightly. Did this outfit make him look like a Stormtrooper trainee? Father was all about the military fashion than the clothing associated with the revived nobility, so the mistake could be made. A chuckle comes a second later as Octavian looks at Akulas.Well when your father promotes military fashion, I guess this can be easily misconstrued. The Imperial smiles as he continues to look at her.I am a cadet of sort, but not for the Stormtrooper Corps. Rather, I am a Squire for the Imperial Knights. He then holds out his hand to her.Octavian Delvardus, a pleasure to meet you.And that was how the Crown Prince met this Stormtrooper Cadet; a simple misunderstanding of his red uniform. The color was meant to reflect his Imperial Knight background, similar to how his stepmother, Empress Nikulin, wore red dresses to formal occasions. The only persons who could ever make him smile, like this, was his family, so given the circumstance and inquiry, it did make him laugh a bit and put him in a good mood.

As if on cue, the Crown Prince approaches her protégé. The next few seconds all played out about one hundred times in slow motion inside the Grand Moff's head. She knew exactly how it would go and was unfortunately correct. There was nothing she could do but stare in wide eyed as the scene unfolded. She was too far away to step in. The cadet would have to handle this on her own.

Depending on the ranks in which she serves, a career among the Novatrooper Corps or within another special department is almost guarenteed, if her successes surpass these smaller missions. That is of course in case she survives." The Grand Moff stopped, as she realized how much she had talked, her tone sounding more like ice again as most around her are used to hear her. "I apologize for what I just said", she solely remarked somewhat softer, the regret within the voice clearly honest, "War can change a person over a long time completely and most of them die too soon. It is sometimes easy to forget that the current times we're living in are more lighthearted, compared to the endeavours of the previous fights within the Imperial Remnants and all those battles leading up to the First Order's undoubted reign over the galaxy. And her loyality towards an Empire had never faded within all these years. It was a good feeling to know that others like her would carry on the torch, even if the Grand Admiral would find some day her own demise in battle.

For a second, Octavian gives Ecklund another raised eyebrow before turning to Nicademus. And here everyone says I look like a younger version of you, Father. In the next moment, Octavian let out another good laugh. He must not look a younger version of the reigning Emperor like everyone else had said to the cadet. The Imperial could hardly be angry given the last comment. The young prince extends his hand and gestures to the Emperor who was situated across from the two of them. The Emperor is my father. I am Crown Prince Octavian, brother of Fiora, Remus, and Yvaine Delvardus. The squire had never imagined meeting someone who didn't know who he was. But here it happened and it only put him a good mood.

Standash nods at the first part.I do believe that she has that potential. She will never be Thrawn tactically, but people will fight for her. That has tremendous value as well, as long as she keeps good people around her.She pause at the dark truth that comes with war. There is always that chance we will lose the best and brightest too early. All we can do is try to get them in the best place. I could recommend that she get a safer post gaurd duty perhaps, but that would be a disservice to the First Order. A commander like her needs to be leading from the front. She watches and listens in horror to Akulas's conversation with the Prince. The Grand Moff's heart lodges in her neck. Meekly she manages to say.Or she can just torpedo her entire career in one night in front of the Grand Marshall, the Crown Prince, and the Emperor himself...
