Your Highness, I am honored! However, I am sure there are others ahead of me for such honors. Nicademus understood this statement. And yet, I chose you because I want you to prove to those that you believe should be ahead of you that you are the worthy one. To prove that you are loyal to the Empire where others may suspect otherwise. The Emperor states as he looks at Thul.I believe I am making the right choice with someone as capable and hands on as you are, Grand Moff Thul. The Imperial gestures to where he had seen her conducting exercises with the cadets.Your diligence is noteworthy, something much needed for your new position.

My loyalties will always be questioned by some, but I appreciate the opportunity to change the minds of some. I am loyal to the First Order, it is the the only force that can bring peace and order to the Galaxy. As the Grand Moff of this Oversector, you are giving me an opportunity to help hold that order both within our boarders and outside of them. I accept, Thank you.She looks down at the training fields. Already missing the time she had spent there. She wouldn't abandon it, but her time will now be less there. It just felt right, training along side them. I can only go off of reports, but I have been told troop performance is up in these more recent graduating classes.

Nicademus could understand why her loyalties were questioned. Prior to her joining the First Order, Thul's record was full of... Republicanist careers. She had affiliations with the former Galactic Republic and Galactic Alliance. When they came to Coruscant, she bent the knee and joined. There were a great many, among the Imperial ranks, who believed she only joined out of necessity and nothing more. True, she may have, but the Emperor believed Thul to be loyal to both the Empire as a nation and the cause it promoted. If anyone here had seen the failures of democratic nations, it was her.
You are very welcome, Grand Moff. You must choose where your Oversector's capital is. I know that you have a great fondness for New Carida after all, but understand the importance of other worlds such as Kuat and Balmorra. Your predecessor chose Kuat, now, you may do the same.
At the mention of the troop performance, there would be no argument from Nicademus.
The Empire is about promoting brotherhood, sisterhood, and general unity among all cultures. The fighting soldier works harder when they are with their comrades. The worker is more diligent if they know and understand the teams they work with. It ensures a well-oiled and well-maintained machine.

Standash would never tell anyone this, but she had planned for this. This oversector was, in her opinion, the best in all of the First Order. She loved New Carida, and she didn't plan on abandoning her office here. But Kuat was the jewel. She had a skyhook picked out for years. Kuat is the focal center of the Oversector, the Grand Marshall was correct to chose it. I will maintain the office here as a secondary, but Kuat will be primary. She looked down at the troops training. They were the heart of the first order. May I speak freely your majesty?

The Lothcat squadron, was training underneath the all seeing eye of the executive offices. Many squad members had been moved out of the squad and new replacements. This was because they were ready to lead their own squads. Those that served under Ecklund found their way into leadership themselves. This new group was not strong. The leaders wanted to put the young leader to the test.

Akulas was leader her squad. The younger cadets were melting under the pressure of the watching eyes. They quickly learned from there squad leader. Akulas always had the attention on her, and she just did her job. They learned to focus on what they can control from her. Worrying about things outside of it would destroy a person.

Akulas loved hands on training and drills, most here skills were in that area. Her leadership and determination was best displayed there. She had learned to like the class room, learning from past battles and discussions. It was the least hands on part of her life. She wasn't worried about her squad, her future, or the Grand Moff. She just got to learn. The Battle of Scarif was being taught. She was learning a lot about gorilla tactics.

Standash could sense things changing as she overlooked the academy from her office in the highest tower. Nothing had been officially planned or discussed, but deep down everything felt different. The drills were more intense, instructors had shorter fuses than normal. She had mandates short sabbaticals for a few of them. The cadets could feel it too. The squads that were ready for graduation were crisper than they had ever been, the cadets without the confidence were worse. She was happy, due to the Emperor's orders, she was able to keep a more open eye on Cadet Ecklund. The girl had once again taken everything in stride better than Standash could have imagined. She was due to report with her list of transfers to her knew unit.

In the time since the party, Akulas had spent almost all her time studying potential squad members and in something, Standash had called a cotillion. Akulas barely had time to keep her fitness routine going much less run drills. The cotillion was possibly the hardest thing she had ever done. Noble people had more rules than the Imperial military. Standash told her that, unlike the military, the punishment for breaking the rules was more than conditioning or physical. The punishment in this arena was humiliation. Standash assured her that this was much, much worse. The team building was a welcome respite. There were options from across the First Order, even a couple that caught her eye from outside it. She was getting excited.

Akulas's training was coming along nicely, the Standash never let on that she was impressed. She was proud. But this was not a world anyone, especially a common girl like Akulas, would ever earn true acceptance in. She was capable of not embarrassing the prince now. With that out of the way, Standash was now concentrating on keeping the girl alive. She had been well trained as a stormtooper. The girl was capable of handling any sort of normal threat or challenge. She was ready to win a war for the First Order. Carida was not so great at training for the extraordinary, that was the specialty academies thing. If Akulas was going to serve as the guard and commander of the Prince's platoon, she needed to be better prepared for the special. Special assassins and worst of all Force users would be the targets.
Standash needed to find someone to prepare the girl for that. Standash went through all of her contacts in her head for someone. No one she directly knew would do. She realized she had to go outside of the First Order. There were some that were not politically motivated, but even they could be targeted. Akulas was now a target, she had to find someone that would keep the girl out of the eyes of those that wished her ill. There was one person she knew by reputation. She knew how to reach out, and hopefully, it would work. She made sure her coms were fully encrypted and even used some of the old encryptions that Annelise had shown her. It would be vocal only, and if it worked it would cost Standash significantly. She made the call.Hello...

The message traversed the galaxy, passing through relay after relay, routing its way along several encrypted waypoints and proxies. Much like Standash, the person she was reaching out to did not care much to be tracked by answering a comm link call. Eventually, though, the call finally found its way to its intended recipient, causing a chime to ring. Damocles would let it ring a couple times before answering Su cuy'gar stranger...

It was audio only but still, Standash sat up straighter and smoothed out her uniform before she spoke.Damocles Ordo I presume... We have never met, but I know you by reputation. I trust you know mine as well, I an Grand Moff and Princess Standash Alizarin Thul. It is a pleasure to make introductions. I am reaching out because I require something only a person of your means and skill can provide. In exchange, I offer something only a person of my means and skills can provide. If this piques your interest, let me continue.

There was a brief pause as Damocles accessed his datapad and brought up the files he had pertaining to Standash Thul. Some of her most notable "accomplishments" included dissolving the Republic Senate, briefly holding position within the Galactic Alliance, and more recently joining the First Order and establishing a humanitarian force. It was quite the storied history which would usually make him cautious. But the fact someone had provided his contact details to her meant they trusted her. Besides, if she was truly in the position she claimed to be, then she would prove useful to his own ends as well Consider me interested enough to hear more Princess. What is it that you are looking for me to do?

Standash kept the relief out of her voice. There were other options, but none that she wanted to explore. I have a student. Strong, smart, skilled, and the best leader I have seen. She is a near-perfect soldier. Unfortunately... I need her to be more than that. In 6 months I need her to be an army unto herself. Someone capable of handling any threat to her to those she protects... Standash takes a breath, knowing that the next words could make or break the dealI need her to be someone that Jedi, Sith and all between them will fear for a reason. For doing this you will have my thanks, and of course, be compensated for your time and effort.

Imperials certainly liked their time tables to be tight. It was not entirely impossible, assuming the girl showed as much combat proficiency as Standash claimed her to have. It was her next comments, however, that truly piqued his interest. In truth, it was likely the real reason Standash had sought him out. There were few within the Galaxy that could claim to combat Force Users that weren't Users themselves Well, I will have to assess her combat skills myself, to be sure. But 6 months should be enough time for her to be able to combat je'daii if she is as good as you say she is already... Just know it will not come cheap. But I suspect you are already aware of that... Have your student meet me upon Anobis. I have heard reports that may prove useful to training. In return you'll have six months to find a ship for me... The Polaris-class Corvette. Any questions?

Standash has expected a ship to be the price. Her power over Kuat was very public, as was her wealth. She was prepared for something in production or something that could be brought to production. She was not ready for an unknown make to cross the line. Standash had never heard of such a ship, but she had people that could find things. She will leave within the hour one the fastest ship in the First Order, she will see you shortly. Ret'urcye mhi She ended the call. There was nothing more to discuss. If Damocles failed the task, Standash would see to it that things would be made right, and the Mando would suffer. Standash would find a way to make the ship happen. She hit the com for within the complex.Cadet Ecklund, gather a go bag for any situation, and be in the Grand Moff's office in 15 min.She then contacted the Hereb and told the captain to make the ship ready, and gave them the quick brief. She watched her chrono as time closed in.

Cadets were used to such commands. Even so, they were always annoying You had to interprate what the command actually was on the fly to narrow down what to bring. Do you need a full suit of armor, or dress uniforms? The "any situation" line was in some ways a misdirect. The key was "go-bag." Akulas needed to pack light but effective. Toiletries were always ready with base layers in a vacume sealed bag. Akulas then grabbed her light armor. It was white and gray camouflage and flexible. Her cadet uniform she was in was great activewear. She grabbed her helmet and ran off to the Grand Moff's office with the duffle on her back. She weived through people and made it to the office with 30 seconds to spare. She hid that she was winded. It was an exercise designed to stress. She half expected the Grand Moff to thank her and dismiss her. The look on the woman's face when Akulas entered told her that wasn't the case this time. Cadet Commader Ecklund reporting ma'me.

Stadash realized that she was worried about the girl as she came in. This was dangerous training, many have died doing this kind of thing. This may be the last conversation she would have with Akulas. She tried to look down right away so the girl couldn't read her, Standash knew she had failed but kept the charade going. She pretended to be going through other papers. You are going for special training. You are the best soldier in the FIrst Order, but the task before you is to be more than a soldier. Serving the Prince in the places he will go and the missions you will undertake, you will need to be so much more. I am sending you to someone that will make you that. You have six months to become someone that brings fear to any stranger you meet and terror to any that chose to face off against the Prince's interests. When you are done...the prince himself with all of his abilities and skill will wonder if you could best him. I am not telling you where you are going or who you are meeting. It is better that way. I have faith that you will succeed. The older woman looks up. She is unable to hide the tear in her eye. She was going to miss the girl. After this point, the Akulas she had known would be gone. She was no longer Standash's protege. She was on to the next part of her life.Good luck, Akulas. You will be missed.Standash leaned in and hugged the girl.Dismissed. The Hereb is ready and will take you where you need to go.

The cadet listened. Though Standash was very vague, Akulas understood. This was it. From the moment she met the Prince and the Emperor, Akulas knew a big change was coming. This was the tipping point for her life. She realized this even before the Grand Moff did something Akulas had never seen. Standash cried. The cadet let a couple of tears out herself while she hugged her mentor back. Understood, thank you for all you have done. Akulas breathed a deep breath and cleared her eyes. She did not know where she was going but she trusted Standash. Carrying her bag, she made her way to the prepped ship and boarded as it began to take off. Apparently, they were really in a hurry.

Standash wished there was a way to keep tabs on Akulas, but that as a nature of this mission. The older women would just have to trust. Trust both the girl and the trainer. Standash was keeping herself busy reading reports from the Academy. The classes were proceeding well. No new potential projects worth her personal attention yet. She still made the point to make her presence known when she was on world. She had taken to enjoying at least one meal in the Cadet mess hall a day when there meeting the cadets.
