Greetings Travellers! Honestly it was mere chance that I was looking at The Chronicle and considering some update work I need to do on it, when I noticed JvS is turning 15 years old! Which, scarily, means I have been on this site for half my life. Which really speaks to, for better or worse, the affect this community has had on my life. A lot has happened over the years, and I know I'm planning to try get back into the Chronicler and get some updates done. But I want to ask everyone what are some of their fondest memories, or ones that just really stand out, from the last 15 years? Whether it's IC or OOC, I'm a little curious to see what others say. This is probably close enough to a celebration event as we can probably sort out before September hits (given the logistics needed for a lot of other potential options). But I think given it's been 15 years, it'd be nice to mark the occasion in some way.

yeah, so... I had considered running a Sithies 2022, but that's a lot of work, effort, and frankly, a lot of headache I wouldn't want to put on someone else, especially since basically we'd have till September to get it done.
What I meant was, this thread was going to be the substitute for that.

Like a 'Sit Around The Fire With Beer (Or Soda) And Bring Up All The Good Times' kind of thing, right? I approve! Fondest memories... there are SO many, IC and OOC. But to start slow, the thrill of that first post with your first character! Those first developing stories, the energy of the 'old days'. And then the excitement of your first post with your next character, after you'd learned the ropes and figured out what you really wanted to write. Making friends. Having those friends enter the OOC realms of your JvS life, finding people you can grow and evolve with while your stories change with you. More personally, getting recognized at The Sithies for literally anything was always a bright spot! All of the goofy spur-of-the-moment IC improv moments between characters, like the running joke on my crew about Banana Beef protein bars. The giant battles my characters always seemed to cause but never participate in for various 'damsel-in-distress' reasons. Getting to know people's inside jokes in OOC and then seeing them pop up IC during an SL. Having absolutely no plan and no SL at all, and just...posting randomly on a planet with activity and seeing what happens. Somehow never being able to hide in alt character from anyone despite trying my best to be sneaky (there's still ONE no one has figured out yet!!). That feeling of logging into a new post! It still gets me even now. This is a great idea, thank you for sharing it!

There are a lot of memories I can pull from, and now that I have some time, I can absolutely drop my own... My first few days of joining JvS in the Universe on FB were... honestly I think par for the course of that time. I was super subtle about what my favourite film of the time was (Darth Jones and the Intergalactic Trading Company were super low key, I promise), and just dropped a bunch of Star Destroyers around places to setup trading outposts. pretty sure I imagined them as Venator or Imperial class Star Destroyers. Just ignored someone's SSD they had somewhere over the Deep Core... Ended up stumbling into the CDDC on Sernpidal and spent a long time there until JvS 1.5 started up. Not sure what happened to the guy I was writing with on Sernpidal back then... After that, I wrote my little warband for a while on 1.5 before uhh... well... quite a number of different characters got targetted across the galaxy. I remember joining up with the Chiss without a single, god damn idea who and what they were. I'd never heard of Thrawn beyond passing mention. Everything I knew was a result of just intense research on Wookieepedia. Prard'rac'helios become, somehow, one of my most well known characters as I navigated ruling the Chiss alongside a couple others. Some of whom did like to try push the Chiss out of their pacifism and moving away from their "no first strikes". I remember the clusterfuck that was the Chiss-Dark Tide war... Something caused by a lot of bad intel in which the Ascendancy was told to take Kuat, but ownership had been transferred to the Dark Tide. We hit them a bit anyway and they decided "let's go!" and tracked us down to Csilla. Ego and hot-headedness abounded. I remember sacrificing Drach, the man taking responsibility for the fuck up at Kuat, and then watching the Dark Tide deciding "you know what, fuck what we agreed to, we're still invading". A lot of butts were hurt in the end, but we managed to resolve it in 3 duels. I will forever, and always, hate that we used to have a ruling that an NPC could not be stronger than a PC. It was the most gamey, bullshit cop-out... After that, I eventually brought out Rebecca Elios. Suffice to say, she surpassed Drach in fame (which I am sure had nothing to do with the fact she looked like Kate Beckinsale in the Underworld movies). I still hold the title as the longest running Chiss writer. Another thing I remember, was the old Chat rooms... those were fond OOC memories in some cases. Back in the old days when the first chat service we used had people randomly messaging you to try creep on you. Until we finally moved to AJAX chat, which consisted of the entry hall (General Chat, which you always had to pass through) and then "Adult Chat". It was neat that changing your site profile changed your chat profile. I spent way too much time in chat... But definitely made a lot of friends through it. Ice and Atlantis were great and it's thanks to them I ended up making Zion and branching out from the Chiss. The rest, was... well... let's just say someone once made a character named "way too many characters" and I'm pretty sure I gave them a run for their money with my alts... Of all the things that came of chat, my reputation as a ladies man and quite... corrupting and lewd was the greatest fable ever told that I just leaned into. It wasn't the truth to begin with, cause hot damn was I a shy mess... But I just kept up with the stories and yeah... manifested it into truth. Not sure whether I should thank Atlantis Vyridian for that or not... But I do blame him for trapping me in the eternal cycle of the Councils... Man convinced me to join the Economic council to change what I didn't like about it, and I've been on every incarnation of the group since. I'm just too drawn to helping and trying to move systems along... Between that and my prolific career as Zion, the name has become synonymous with me. There are people who know my real, actual name, that still just call me Zion or Z... Which was an interesting experiencing when I finally met some of them in person. That said, Harnan has definitely left his own mark upon JvS, in many ways since his creation not long after Episode 7. Man truly embodied the 'Myth of Zion'... Kind of glad to finally be working on bringing a close to his story. One of the few characters of mine that have gotten such treatment. A lot of my alts have had their own lives (Ifrit Bladeweaver, Han Der, Jedi Master Rawkill, Kortos Vel, etc), and I met a lot of people through them all. I can sympathise with Vyra about having a hard time hiding who my alts were. But I will say, I take some pride in Rebecca's fame and the fact some people didn't know I wrote her... There were definitely plenty of rough spots over the years with people. But the good stuff definitely outweighs those few bad experiences.

I wasn't gonna do one of these at first, but I decided that there are a lot of people to thank and recognize, and I'll do my level best to remember as many as I can. I will leave out the dramas and the OOC shite, because i want this to be happy.
(If you want to be amused by drama and salt, go to the archives, look up the infraction reports. I was a real asshat back then.)
Let me drop some names, and hopefully you'll also remember some of these legends...
JvS had recently moved from 1.0 to 1.5 and when i joined, much of the stories I heard were of the craziness of 15 eclipses, the fun and games with Centerpoint Station. I still recalled the silly Facebook quiz game and that was all i knew of JvS.
Gaiscioch Dearg was the first friend I made, and he gave me my first job. RPing some mining ships and delivering the supplies. I'd get my first ships (one of which is active to this day) and troops here, and I got to meet some other RPers through this at Onderon and at Kiffu.
During this time finding my feet, i met an ewok, who would become Kaine's nemesis. Tarfang, also known as Dragus. We had some awesome RPs together, and the battle over Onderon will forever remain legendary. I still tell the story of the time two ewoks humped while their ship crashed.
Somewhere around these times, i watched Vandar Winsome with some of the greatest IC trollery against some angry and unpronounceable Warriors of the Iron Fists guy, and it was hilarious and deserves a shout out. I also want to shout out Vihn Qel-Droma for one of the greatest duels of all time that ive ever read, against 4, yes 4, of the Vegemite Sith Enclave. Magnificent.
After stealing Kiffu from Dearg (with his OOC blessing) Kaine set up his own little operation and I met Sar Lorn who helped get Kiffu to Gold standard. Here I met Shia'Rhael, who introduced me to Reyn Skirata. From this, Reyn taught me what Mandalorians were all about. From this Clan Australis was born, and I began to meet the larger galaxy as a Mando, heading to Mandalore for the first time. Before this i was more of a star wars nerd than a Mandalorian. After Reyn taught me the way, well, it was the only way.
Its about here where i started to get to know the community, and met the Vegemite Sith, Az, Reign, Targus, Carnifex, Beasty and Lammy. I never got to write with them because i was neck deep in Mandalorian affairs from here on out, but I got to chat with hem a lot. It's here where i really felt like I was part of the scene. I started writing with Rhea, who was the first person to get me to think about writing subjects other than war.
There were a lot of Mandalorians back then, legends like Plu Ordinii and Taung Hrel. I got to know people like Solo Talon, Malice Hingang and fkn Wanderer as well as Cassus Fett during the Mandalorian times.
I also got to know the NOE folks, Bacca, The Major, Kryptman and Dragus, Tarfang's alter ego, and we had a hell of a lot of fun, including the first invasion of Myrkr. At the time, I was having the time of my life. Looking back now as an experienced writer and RPer, they were throwing me a big bone, and i love them for it. I got a lot of confidence from experiencing large scale battles with those folks.
Somewhere around here i got to know Villa, and the Sithies was his idea. I helped as much as I could, and helped him run the first one, and he helped me run the second one. They were a ton of work and a few all nighters (time differences lol). Explaining to people who have lives that youre busy running a star wars universe awards show is an interesting experience. They were always a crazy time, the community got very active, the posts dropped moment by moment, and i hope everyone had as much fun as I did.
By this time Reyn was the Mand'alor, and I was his right hand Mando. I still reckon he was the wisest and purest Mandalore we had. After he retired, it was my turn. Leading the Mandos was an experience. Everyone should do it, once. We had good times and bad, my right hand Mandos were Ashrah and Vale, and we had many laughs. I couldn't have done any of it without Reyn's teaching and advice, even after I took over. A lot of the things that got done during my time were his ideas and concepts.
The one great campaign of Kaine's reign as Mand'alor was the mando invasion of Korriban. The Korriban Sith were really good about things, and despite some bad feelings due to mostly Wanderer, we got through the battle from start to finish. It was pretty one-sided, even before the drama, but everyone involved had fun.
There was a great moment where the battle was over and Kaine had accepted a cease fire from the survivors. The Academy was occupied and the Mandos had space above the planet. A rival non-Korriban sith whose name escapes me fired on the Mandos, and in response, the survivors were massacred. Third party interference, but it was still cool. Being a part of large scale RP like that is a lot of work, but can be very rewarding when all the circumstances work out.
I can recall many conversations and random shenanigans and RP with folks like Reverance, Kel Sentriss, James Loyderas, DeathAngel, Matar Lyndruss, Adieumus Matango, Icey Matango, Admy, Valstrol, Eralam and many many more. That chatroom was like a share house some days with people just parked in a corner for days, and it was always good times.
Please forgive me if I have not mentioned your name. There are many names i have forgotten over the years, and I could go through the archives to remind me, but lazy.
No story that I got to experience and RP and have fun with has ever been forgotten, even if the names sometimes escape me. The people I got to know and spend time with over the years here took me from a star wars nerd to a writer and roleplayer. Thankyou seems poor and inadequate under the circumstances.

Here are two memories of mine. One started out rough but had a good ending, the other was just a case of meeting some nice people through the app.
Alright, so Daniel Starkiller had just been promoted from Captain to Major while serving aboard the Death Star. I had a dogfight out front with my TIE Interceptor and managed to capture a Jedi that had been bold enough to try his luck. I'm pretty sure it was Lord Ulric, but it could have been Bacca, maybe even the reclusive Jack Habbard for all my memories worth, but someone at that point decided that I should take on some more responsibility for the group. I think they could tell I was some hot shit and they wanted to put yours truly to work.
So, Daniel Starkiller was given governorship of Ylesia for the Council of the Eye. It was neat looking after a planet back then because on any given day, ten to twenty people could show up and try and take it from you without a lick of warning. I decided to really make it my own, came up with some cool imagery and really made it a place dedicated to our little cult. I even went around to various other planets to collect exotic creatures to spruce it up. I built this gladiatorial arena with the idea of people fighting some of these creatures, kinda like the Geonosis arena.
Anyways, back then people would randomly attack you with fleets...but sometimes they would be sneaky too (lots of assassination attempts). I have this player show up and the next thing I know, we are dueling it up in said gladiatorial arena. Now I think most folks at this point had gotten with the 'no calling hits' rule, but every now and then you'd run into some kid that wouldn't be following the rules or was maybe a bit excitable. Well, I figured this was one of those situations since the player starts saying they've attached sticky bombs all over my character and was using some sort of ninja rifting ability. I could have protested, but in my head I was like, eh, this is all for fun. I'll let him push the boundaries a bit.
As the fight starts getting a bit ridiculous, more and more hits being called...more non-star wars powers being used, I decide it's time to get my character out of there. I call in a shuttle, it flies over head and drops a rope. Daniel Starkiller grabs it and starts climbing up. The other player teleports inside the shuttle, kills the crew and flies the shuttle to a super high height, and cuts the rope all in the one post. Daniel Starkiller falls.
Now, as I said, I had been all over the galaxy RPing collecting animals. I went to Dxun to get a drexl because I've always liked those. So as Daniel Starkiller is falling, I use his only Force Power, Animal Friendship (or whatever it is called) and reach out to the drexl to get it to catch my character before he goes splat. Well, the other player starts yelling at me OOC and invites a whole bunch of his buddies, one flusie I especially remember, and they all start mass spamming the boards with insults and very negative comments. I was pretty cheesed given that I thought I had been more than welcoming to this player and had given them as much leeway as I possibly could. But if you are just gunna whine and be rude, I don't want anything to do with you.
So at this point I let him shoot down my drexl, my character hits the ground hard, and the other player crashes the shuttle on top of him and teleports to safety at the last minute. Great, so now they leave, which at this point is all I can hope for. The second they are gone, I have medical teams show up and a very mangled Daniel Starkiller gets transformed into a cyborg, and is thus referred to as Major Starkiller until he later got promoted to Commodore, after Seleeven Khar got promoted from Commodore to Admiral.
Now I had never intended to make Daniel Starkiller a cyborg, and eventually a robot. He was always supposed to be an Imperial pilot. But in the process of him turning into this relentless mechanical monster, I ended up having some of the best RP scenarios I have ever had. I feuded with multiple PCs, had some super amazing boss fights all over the galaxy, things I probably never would have used Daniel Starkiller for. So even though the situation that had led to that change in my character was uncomfortable and altogether unpleasant, the end result was great and I'm thankful that it happened.
If it hadn't been for that guy acting like a little douche, I never would have found the character. I probably still would have had a good one, but it would have been very different. So yeah, it all ended well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, memory number 2.
Endor, my first character, had been taken by the original Darth Dragus (his first Sith Master Rped by another). He had been corrupted to the darkside and left to look after a base of Dragus' for...I think they were called the Neo Sith Order, on Hoth. It was around this time that Endor had made his axe on Mustafar, the same axe the current Dragus (who is an evil clone of Endor, sort of) still carries. I had also made this super sweet lightwhip, I think the only one I have ever used. I remember tracing around the galaxy to get all the parts. I was like, with my axe and whip, I'm gunna be the greatest Sith lion tamer the galaxy has ever seen! But before I could join the Sith circus...
Jedi Master Kwai-Ming shows up at the Sith base and we have a fight. I don't remember anything specific other than that it was a good scrap. I was enjoying myself, I think he was too. Anyways, this is still pretty early on in the Facebook days so there comes a point where Kwai-Ming says something like...
Kwai-Ming used the Force and pulled the lightwhip from Endor's hand, then smashed it against the wall, shattering it beyond repair.
I wasn't upset about the hit, it was barely a flex and again...pretty early on in the FB days so people were doing stuff like this all the time. What I was upset about was that I had spent a lot of time making this super awesome lightwhip and in one post all my effort was undone. So at this point I decide to talk to him OOC. It went something like this...
Endor OOC: Hey dude, good scrap. I'm enjoying it. Question for ya, would it be cool if we said the lightwhip just broke instead of was completely destroyed? I spent a lot of time making it so I was kinda hoping to be able to use it for a while.
Kwai-Ming OOC: Oh, shit. My bad, dude. Yeah for sure, we'll just say it broke. S'all good, homie.
We then continued the duel, I think Kwai-Ming collapses the base on top of me and takes off. Solid scenario. Best of all, I had met a completely reasonable person who was super nice. That was the icing on the cake for me.
Fast forward to 1.5.
I create my greatest Jedi character. She really takes the 'do no harm' thing to another level. At first she would only ever use her training lightsaber for combat because it was non-lethal. Well, I'm looking for a Jedi Master for her...I have not told anyone at this point that she is one of my characters so I don't think anyone knows that it is me. Well, guess who volunteers to be her master? Kwai-mudda-frigging-Ming. We only have a few interactions but he gets me set up with the Corellians, I get involved in some cool battle where my character is forced to use her actual lightsaber and it takes its toll on her emotionally. I never really use the character beyond this, but I was left with all sorts of good feelings from it.
So I guess what I am trying to say is that Jedi Master Kwai-Ming was like my Jedi guardian angel. I don't think that guy has been around for a while but he definitely had a positive impact on my RP experience.
