Dee was calmly thinking about all she had said, even if only for a few moments, just to make sure she didn’t give out anything incriminating.
She looked at Fumnanya as he offered her a job and she smiled. Looking over at Dikeledi as she scanned the table, and her body reactively inhaled. She suddenly felt compelled to say more, and she laughed. Yeah, and if you think that’s cool, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
She recognized the string of words that were about to come out of her mouth and she abruptly shut it. The vowels, consonants, and various syllables smashed to pieces on the back of her teeth, and she swallowed them down, visibly gulping. She picked up her coffee and leaned over to AVI. Hey, can you do me a favor and go get me another big glass of water. She took a sip of her coffee and abruptly set it down and slid it over to her companion. And a black coffee too, please.
AVI nodded and got up, taking the cup with him as he walked over to the bar. Dee smiled again. It was a nervous smile. Loose lips lose ships is what she was always taught. She cursed her inability to control her tongue but was intensely curious as to why the alcohol was having this effect on her. Normally, it just made her a little looser and more free with her mind, but not with deep secrets. Whatever it was, she recognized the effect it was having on her now. Grateful she caught it before anything serious slipped out, Dee swore to keep her trap shut until AVI could come back. She was wondering if there was anything that was slipped into her drinks earlier, but that didn’t make a lot of sense since she was a nobody-patron like any other as far as they were concerned.
She glanced up at Ramaz. Did he have something to do with it?
