This is the thread devoted to the critiques of stories that have been written here. Players must bear in mind that OOC harassment and demeaning a player is grounds for removal from this forum. You are to be polite in your critiques.
On the other hand, writers should bear in mind that criticisms made here are of the writing, if done correctly, not the author, and to not take negative responses personally, but instead try to improve upon them in your future writing. In this way, we become better writers and in turn are able to interact effectively with other writers to make better collaborative stories, which is the entire basis of the Universe.
To make a critical response:
Just post a reply to this thread and write your thoughts.
Critiques can be as detailed or plain as you want them. There are some things that you should do, however, common to all critiques:
• Detail the name of the story, link to the story thread, and principal authors in your critique. • Support your arguments with examples (ideally in quote form) from the text of the thread. • Be civil, and when a negative opinion is offered, explain how to improve. When a positive opinion is offered, explain why it was good.
Whether you write an essay or just a line or two, apply critical lenses and interpretations or summarize, your critique can be posted here. Once that is done, you should make a note of your response in the story thread, so that the author can read your reactions to it. Also note that poems or speeches are subject to a different type of critique than prose.
NOTE: If an author has requested to not have a critical response when beginning the story, please do not disregard his or her wishes.
Comments should follow the above criteria, in that they should be posted here rather than on the thread, with just a note to the effect that there is a comment, and a link included as per the coding, so as not to interrupt or detract from the story.

Hello fellow writers :) I've reached a point where i feel like I'm rushing ahead threw my current story to fast. Maybe to avoid writers block, my story is about the events leading up to the Zhell- Taung War. Obviously it's not canon, and I am aware that many things do not match what actually happened. Lets just say my story is not accurate at all, I'm just going by the basics. Think about what Abrams did with star trek, made his own history. Well this, i like to think as my own version of the sw universe, the actually date of the war is thousands of years before 90.000 BBY but the In-story date is not set, like the Jedi vs Sith timeline. So now that we are clear, I'm looking for ideas or suggestions on how I would take this story. I've read some pieces of other stories and it all seems awesome, I welcome any advice threw PM :) Thanks.

Hello Everyone! New RP Advisor VIdalu Na'an reporting for duty.
I have to admit, it was kind of a surprise to be considered the type of writer that would be held up as someone who could actually ADVISE people. Thank you to those who think me worthy of such a consideration, and I hope to do my best by you all!
That being said, I'm going to try to be a little more proactive as far as being an Advisor, so one of the first things I'll be doing is to comb through the Journal of the Whills forum and look for journals that asked for critical response, but never got any. The practice seems to have flagged since this thread was first created, and as a fellow writer in the Journal of the Whills, I know that getting that kind of feedback can mean the difference between a completed story and a half-abandoned plot bunny. I'll be PMing the writers of my final list to see if they still want input (as well as ask if they'd prefer such input to be public of private), and do my best to help promote you all as you put out some of the best writing on this site. I'll also be posting this same message in the Journal forum; if you're interested in having some critical response applied to your Journal in particular PM me and I'll be sure to move your request to the top of my docket.
Happy writing!
