*Kronos felt better with her words. She hadn't judged him. Even though he hadn't thought she would, he still felt unsure about it. He still considered the dark side and whether or not it was inherently evil, but he didn't feel like his brain was going in several directions at once. It would make it easier to think. He picked up his wine glass again and finished it. The Veronian Berry Wine was actually pretty good stuff.*
"Thanks, Master, I feel better now."
*It was then something pinged on the edge of his Force senses. Something was happening, but he wasn't sure what. His eyes started searching and his hand went instinctively to his lightsaber hilt. He pinpointed it's location - coming from the entrance of the club. His eyes moved there waiting to see what would happen.*

"Mmm. How did you get here, Kronos? Did you use the train, or borrow a speeder from the Academy?" Either option was perfectly valid. Nala had used both methods of transportation herself on many different occasions. Despite his claim to be feeling better, she could tell he was on edge, and he was looking rather transparently over at the door.
"Violence is not a done thing in the LastDark," she cautioned him quietly, taking an unobtrusive sip of her glass and emptying it in the process, noticing that his hand was resting on his lightsaber. "That doesn't mean it can't happen, it just means it is common knowledge that one should take their problems elsewhere, unless one doesn't mind a permanent ban from the premises."
To be sure, it could be something very wrong. She ruled out the smoke demon. That was being dealt with back at the Academy. She set down her glass and almost closed her eyes till they were just the barest slits, instead, she focused on listening. Listening and feeling towards the center of whatever disturbance was bothering the other Jedi.

*Kronos answered her first question.* "I borrowed a speeder from the academy."
*Something irked Kronos, but he didn't know what it was. Something was outside, and it made him wary. Kronos heard Nalatua'lin's warning and heeded it. He would not cause violence in the club, but he would protect any in danger. A man entered the club and his senses followed him. Kronos' eyes lingered on him, following as he walked through the club.*
"There's something wrong." *Kronos said, his eyes remaining on the man.* "I think he's up to something. I don't know - something just feels off. I'm going to follow him."
*Kronos saw the look on Nalatua'lin's face - a warning to not cause any trouble.* "Don't worry, Master, I won't cause any trouble. I just want to make sure everything's okay. My thoughts were dark today, it could be nothing. I hope it's nothing."
*Of course she could stop him, but Kronos began to stand and begin his tail. If Nalatua'lin wanted him to stay, he would obey. She was a Master.*

Most of the Academy speeders carried at least two people, driver and passenger, so unless he'd taken a speederbike her followup question wasn't pointless. "Ah, I came in on the train and wandered the streets for a couple hours. There was a disturbance in a nearby street bazaar a few days ago and I wanted to see if the atmosphere had calmed any. If you aren't averse to the idea, I might hitch a ride back up to the Academy with you later," she interjected politely, at the same time making him aware that he was at liberty to reply in the negative if he so chose. She didn't really mind, one way or the other, but she would like to know that he returned safely tonight. Not that she thought he couldn't take care of himself, but the Healer liked people to feel at peace. And right now, she knew he was on edge.
She purposefully didn't look over at the door. It wouldn't do to let the fellow know he'd attracted the attention of not just one, but two Jedi. "Oh?" Reaching into one of her many belt pouches she extracted a couple cred-chips and dropped them on the table, then got up with an ostentatiously languorous stretch and audibly suggested to her companion that it was time for them to leave. She left it up to possible listeners to extrapolate whatever they liked as people tended to go for the easiest suggestion, and who doesn't like a hint of scandal?
In a much quieter tone, she whispered over at Kronos, "I'll come too. At the moment, both of us together are less likely to alarm him, unless he's more dangerous than he seems. In which case, the backup might come in handy. Now, if you'd give me your arm?" the Twi'lek finished, with a slow smile that was belied by the seriousness reflected in the depths of stormy grey eyes.

*Kronos calmed down a bit. His paranoia was unbecoming of a Jedi. Nalatua'lin stood and stretched, telling him that it was time to leave. Something in her tone almost made him raise an eyebrow before he caught himself. She seemed to have some sort of plan. A hint of scandal - Kronos could play along.*
*He whispered an answered her question as he offered her his arm as requested, further fueling the hint of scandal.* "No worries, I can give you a ride back."
*Kronos walked, keeping an eye on the the man in question in his peripheral vision. The man walked and picked up a well hidden case, and placed an envelop in its place. The man obviously wasn't smart. He wasn't very discreet, although the hiding place was good. It was obvious that he was trying to hide the transaction though.*
"What do you think?"*Kronos said quietly.* "Drugs?" *Despite the transaction, Kronos continued to move as they were leaving. That kind of a transaction didn't take place unless something was up. At the very least, CorSec should be notified, but Kronos wondered if they should tail the man further or find the supplier.*

*Jade looked down at her food, suddenly not feeling hungry. The discussion had begun to weigh on her mind. She had come her, partially out of fear of the darkness, a darkness she wondered that still lay inside, and partly because of her father's suggestion. But had she taken the time to think about what her path would be? It was clear that she hadn't. All she knew was that she wanted to find a way to understand her power to help others.
Looking back to Von, she thought on his words. Suddenly, she spoke, her mind not giving her any time to think.*"Well, you may have to figure it out on your own, but it doesn't mean you have to walk the path alone." Von leaned back in his chair and took a sip from his drink, sighing he smiled at Jade. At the same time he felt Johun calling him to yet another training time. This time he would bring Jade along as well, perhaps she could get some training in. What ever the future may hold for me, I know I can count on you being there for me. Just know though that if you give up for any reason I will be there to kick your ass. I mean I can't lose my only actual motivation slash competitor. I mean don't get me wrong Kulaan is nice and all but she doesn't have the skill to want me to get excited to fight. You...you at least show your interested in a fight. But anyways on another note, we have to get back to the academy, Johun his summoning me once again for some more training. Oh great idea, I have a question for you. Seeing how I am in a fight and seeing as you have said your father has trained you before. Maybe you can tell me what a good form for me is. I need to be at least looking like I am actually studing this. Von laughed to himself, he was trying to make it show that he had in fact forgot to look up the forms.

*Jade sat back and thought about the different forms she knew of. She hadn't learned all of them but knew the basis of the first set. Thinking back on their fight she tried placing him.*
"The first form is Shii-Cho. All Jedi younglings first learn this path as it introduces the basics of combat. Very rarely does anyone use this form on its own. The second form is Makashi. Primarily, it is a type of combat best used against a single opponent. It is a bit elegant and fluid. For three, you have Soresu. This was developed as a defensive style form and is very efficient against blasters. The saber is kept in a closer range to you. the next style, a one I utilize a bit, is Ataru. It is a form that combines power, strength and speed. It is acrobatic and uses the Force to help aid in movements and control. Form five is a two parter, Shien and Djem So. Ultimately, it is a straightforward overpowering attack form, Shien allowing the defensive abilities of Soresu while maintaining the ability to deliver. Where Shien aids against blasters, Djem So focuses on lightsaber combat. The is also for six, Niman, though I have yet to study it. There is alos Jar'Kai, which uses two sabers, and double-bladed, which is a saber staff. Jar'Kai is also a style I use."

The tall Twi'Lek eyed the man they were following in the distance, thinking about Kronos' question. Tchunn twitched as she thought, followed almost as a response by tchinn. Her prehensile lekku draped down her back as they turned a corner. "Narcotics is a possibility, though with recent politics it could be nothing more than simple paranoia," she shrugged, "alternatively it could be something much more nefarious. If we haven't found anything conclusive against him though, and I assume he will try to shake us off, then reporting him to CorSec will be a moot point." They'd probably laugh and wonder why the Jedi couldn't deal with whatever it was they'd just stuck their lekku into. Oh well.
"There could be any number of reasons, a few of them even legitimate, why he wouldn't want to be in the company of Jedi," although the precipitate way he'd caught sight of them in the LastDark and then fled the premises immediately did raise red flags.
~Several Days Later~
"Well, Corellians do have a reputation, Master Alora, the local economy has to turn that to its advantage," Jade replied. Certainly the Corellians had never been called shy or backwards in that arena. She smiled at the thought, remembering Serrin's bloodstripe ceremony. That had actually been the first time she'd been to Corellia. Though, in typical Serrin fashion, it had been anything but routine as chaos and mayhem had broken out in the middle of the ceremony and things deteriorated into a rather bloody fight in the middle of the City. The petite Jedi woman smiled ruefully. Serrin had talked her into taking a more active role in the Jedi Order, begged her to come to Corellia, and when Jade had finally done so, her friend had simply vanished. She still had no word, and by now was beginning to think her old friend had met with an untimely demise.
As the train rolled into the main city and hissed to a halt at a busy station, she released her handgrip and joined the flow of exiting people. Once outside, she paused and looked for Sabo, finding him quickly as the two of them headed on foot into Coronet proper, or "improper" depending on one's point of view. Corellians could be both boisterous and rambunctious when the occasion called for it---it took very little imagination to see the occasion "call for it."
"Indeed," she nodded in understanding. Jedi did travel quite a bit, except perhaps for the more reclusive ones. The "famous" holoadventure Jedi always traveled a lot, dealing with problems and injustice all over a very large galaxy. "You have seen many things I should imagine."

*Kronos frowned a bit, feeling uncertain. Perhaps he was just freaking out, but who knew. Kronos really had no idea. Perhaps he had overtaxed himself and was just tired. As he thought about it, he stifled a yawn. It had been a long day.*
"So we should do nothing?" *Kronos asked, wondering what they should do. His tone wasn't angry, just questioning and asking the advice of his senior. Perhaps it was best to leave it be.*
*Kronos led her out of the club, the sun had disappeared behind the horizon and whoever it was they were tailing had disappeared into the crowd. Kronos reached out with the Force, but was unable to find him. He shrugged.* "It looks like we don't have a choice in the matter. We have nothing conclusive, so I'm not sure we can do much more. If you are ready, I'll take you back to the Academy." *The tension in Kronos' body had already begun to loosen and he knew he would be fine tonight.*

As the train car came to a stop, Sabo paused briefly to allow other passengers to exit. Taking a step from the car, he used his significant height to scan for Ael in the crowded station. Spotting her, he pushes his way through the crowd towards her. Allowing her to lead the way, he followed quitely. Only stopping to allow some of the more intoxicated partisans in the Coronet proper to pass him by while stumbling around, he used his long stride to catch up quickly.
His head nodded in quite agreement. Indeed, he had seen his fair share of the galaxy and it's inhabitants, too much to convey in a short walk to the restaurant. "The Force guides, I just follow. The living force shows us a great many things, once we a taught to see. I've seen lush rain forests, rivers of molten rock, sand as far as the eye can see, massive cities, toxic trash worlds, and many more. The galaxy is a vast place, wouldn't you agree?"

The Twi'Lek managed to give a graceful shrug accompanied by a detailed response in lekku movements that only a Twi'Lek would understand. Out loud she said only that, "It is hard to see at a glance the history of one's circumstances. Good people can do bad things to provide for those they love." It was an answer that perhaps contradicted the popular Jedi desire to see things in black and white absolutes. But she thought Kronos was mature enough to see what she meant. Surely he hadn't spent his life in a cloister.
She frowned after their disappearing quarry. "As no one is in immediate danger, I think we've provided a sufficient deterrent, at least within the LastDark. I am ready to return if you are satisfied." Besides, she had a patient in the infirmary and despite the fact that her subordinates were keeping a close eye on him, she felt better with him under her own personal supervision.
~~~
Jade smiled to herself, feeling Sabo's presence as he drew closer seconds before he actually addressed her. "I do agree," but she didn't just leave it at that as she paused outside their dinner destination, "but also, the more I see, the more I am reminded of how similar everything is. One can find common ground everywhere, and this keeps one in sympathy with the universe." She hesitated. The quiet Jedi Master rarely ever spoke of her own feelings, but in this instance, given what had happened earlier, she thought that Sabo Alora might need reassurance that his own emotional quandary was not completely outside the realm of other beings' experiences. "When I look at humans, such as yourself," she indicated the taller male with a slight gesture, "I feel there is a great chasm between us. I value things you probably take for granted, and vice versa. But, through gathering data, seeing things, listening to others, I know that we have many similarities."
She shook the street dust from her robe and placed a hand on the somewhat battered door of the dubiously named Thirsty Smuggler. "So, the bigger the universe, the more at home one should be---no?"
*Kronos nodded, smiling. He escorted Nalatua'lin to his speeder, not that he was interested in anything other than friendship - Kronos had no interest in romance. He powered up the speeder and headed back to the temple. He took the speeder to the Infirmary. Assuming that Nalatua'lin had some work to do.*
"Is this alright - I can take you back to the residential quarters if you wish." *Kronos said and waited for a response.* "Thank you for a wonderful evening. I will think on the things you have said." *He flashed Nalatua'lin a smile.
"Don't worry yourself. This is fine," she replied calmly as he pulled to a halt outside the Academy. "I need to make my usual rounds in the infirmary anyway."
Nalatua'lin rose and stepped down to the ground. Romance was the last thing on her mind as she looked at Kronos. It wasn't that he was ugly or anything, but she saw him with the eyes of a Healer, and he seemed a bit lost at the moment. Not so much as he had when she found him in the LastDark though. He seemed more sure of himself. She had confidence that he would find his way in the universe.
With a rustle of robes she headed back into the Academy proper.
*The noise in the cantina filled the room, just like the smoke that hung over his head. Jonas sat at the bar and watched the commotion in the dimly lit room. The amber drink in his hand slowly drained with each passing minute. He was not interested in the least about the music or action going on across the cantina, had he known that it was going to be this busy then he never would have shown up. But he needed a drink. This was the first time he had visited home in almost two years. He was glad to be back, sort of, not really actually. In the morning he was going to have to face his family, that didn't sit well with him. They, however, were glad he was back. This was the first time everyone was going to be back home at one time in years. He was the only one still not in the military, he had dropped out several years ago and ended up becoming a mercenary. His family didn't really prove of that, and he was sure he was going to hear all about that tomorrow. Draining the last of his drink, he stood up and made his way out of the cantina. Morning was going to come to fast for his liking.*
*The evening sun slowly sank as Jonas slowly made his way back to his ship. His mind drifted from one thought to another. Spending the evening with his family went better then he expected, not good, but wasn't terrible. His choice of profession was only brought up once, everyone seemed more interested in their every day life rather then talking about their jobs. That suited him just fine. overall, it was okay. Letting out a sigh, he scanned his surroundings. He had stayed later then he had expected, and he was already tired from the night before. Picking up his pace some, he made his way back to his ship. A good nights rest would do him well*
[ Lawyer's office, Downtown Coronet. ]
=Vance Waterpool= Vance Waterpool, the new legal counsel for the Sempreverde-Raganella Trust, leaned the high back of his chair against the window sill of his 26th floor private office, and squinted at the legal-sized holobook held in his left hand.
The documents and contracts he had inherited from his predecessor seemed simple enough, but the elder Raganella had asked him to confirm all of its provisions and its compliance with local and Republic business law. There were the certificates denoting Marie Sempreverde as sole heir to her father's stake in the Corellian Engineering Corporation, and the marriage certificate for her union to Raja Raganella, with full survivorship provisions for her own inheritances. Then, there were the birth notices for their two children, Kel'Al and Kay'li, a death certificate for Marie, and a Jedi decree on the death of Raja, with a sworn statement from Kel'Al as the only witness to his father's demise. And finally, a confirmation of Kel'Al's standing with CEC from then-chairman Tagert Hunt. The chain of succession was above reproach, and so the Jedi Master was fully within his legal rights to assign his stake in the famous corporation to the Trust that he and his sister had chosen to establish. The plan was quite simple, but also admirable: they had chosen to assign their family's accumulated wealth, which included land, their family stake in CEC, and residual revenue from Kel'Al's CEC patents, to a Trust which would manage the assets on behalf of any future, as-yet-unborn, non-Force-sensitive descendents of either sibling.
Satisfied, Vance lowered his chair until all four legs were resting on the carpet of his office floor once more, then turned to the door of his office and called out, "Shirley, come put these back in my files, please." Setting the holobook down on the end of his desk, he took a sip of stimcaf, and gazed out the window at the picturesque skyline of Coronet City. It was a good thing for the galaxy, he thought to himself, that a Jedi like Raganella would give up so many of his political and business power. He hoped it was a sign of good things to come from the Jedi Order.
The next thing he had to do was hire someone to be the Trust's representative on CEC's board.
=Vance Waterpool= He wasn't sure when the idea had first come to him, but as he slowly paced the four corners of his legal office, Vance had to admit that the idea had grown on him over the last few hours. Why couldn't he simply be the Raganella Trust's representative on the CEC board? Why complicate matters by hiring a third party? He knew enough about business, law, and galactic finance to be an asset to the corporation, and he had checked the current roster: there were fewer lawyers among the current members than at any time in the last decade. His own practice was generating plenty of work to keep him busy, but now that he had a junior partner upon which to spin off some of the low hanging fruit, there was no reason he could not make time for the CEC board. The pay would be sufficient, and the arrangement would even be cheaper for the Trust, because it would have one fewer employee to maintain when it came to legal licenses and taxes. Finally, he ceased his pacing, and sat down at his desk to compose a letter.
The Aqualish is impatient and rude, as though- in letting her family provide him with the capital and legal expertise necessary to expand his pharmaceutical company via the hostile takeover of a struggling competitor - he is doing them a favor. Vittoria is not perturbed, outwardly or inwardly, by the Aqualish’s lack of courtesy, and conducts herself throughout their meeting with a professional air of utmost respect. It is not for the Aqualish that Vittoria meets with that her family extends the favor, but for his father, a high ranking Coronet City official with connections and influence that will enable him to repay the favor at a future date.
In the natural order of things, it would be Vittoria’s younger brother that met with the Aqualish on their eldest brother’s behalf rather than her. That her younger brother would almost certainly not have been able to maintain his professionalism in the face of discourtesy is but one reason that Vittoria acts in the role that, in other circumstances, would have been his.
Had she been born a man, Vittoria’s future, like those of her brothers, would have been all but lain out and cleared of all obstacles before her; a series of dots to connect, waypoints to reach along the way to the roles ready-made for them by virtue of the fact they were the male children of their father. As the only daughter in the Gallucci family, Vittoria, however, had no assumed destiny to fulfill, and was therefore free to choose her own; she was given a blank canvas to paint as she wanted rather than a paint-by-the-numbers to simply color in according to instructions.
Vittoria could not have foreseen that she would - nor did she ever intend to - take her younger brother’s place; a place that would have naturally been her birthright had she not been born a woman. That Vittoria was more suited to the role a second-born son was destined for might not have mattered to the head of another family, might not have changed anything since traditions are often held sacred and inviolate by families like hers, but, like their father before him, her eldest brother is ruled by reason as well as by tradition; and knows that sometimes heeding the former means breaking with the latter.
Ever the dutiful daughter, Vittoria had pursued a career in law with the intent of contributing to her family’s power by making a place for herself in a field that would allow her to not only be of use, but to also make useful connections. Joining the Corellian Defense Force’s JAG Corps, on the other hand, had been a choice borne as much from whimsy as anything; desire to see more of the universe combining with the need for escaping the familiar that had surfaced within her after the unexpected death of a long-time lover to make the military an overwhelmingly attractive option to a 27 year old law school graduate mourning the loss of the one she had planned to spend the rest of her life with. Eight years in the CDF’s JAG Corps, spent primarily in the area of operational law, honed Vittoria’s wit, mettle, and self-discipline. Four years spent practicing law in Coronet had given Vittoria the opportunity to forge the useful connections she had hoped to forge for her family’s benefit, as well as to enhance her knowledge of the power players in Corellia’s legal, law enforcement, and political worlds; knowledge that her family could make use of.
After Vittoria has given the Aqualish the name of the bank – where her family is owed favors by the lending and operating managers – and of the legal firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions – where her family is owed favors or has earned the loyalty of several talented lawyers – he is to go to in order to expand his business, she courteously and respectfully takes her leave of him. On paper, there will be no connection between the Gallucci family and the pharmaceutical company, and therefore no record of the service the Gallucci’s have provided for the city official. There are reasons other than providing the city official their family’s aid; the potential usefulness of the pharmaceutical company’s import and export connections, and their on and off-world shipping operations for but two examples. Her brother Antonio, Don Gallucci, will want to know how the meeting went, a discussion he will want to have in person, and so after she has left the Aqualish’s office building, Vittoria heads outside to her airspeeder to begin the journey to their family home.
His letter to the board of CEC had been favorably received, and had led to a private meeting with the CEO. Satisfied that he was serious about the proposal, Waterpool's appointment to the board was added to the corporate agenda. There had been several briefings, and a social occasion or two, but now his position was about to become official. It was an interesting career move for the life-long lawyer, but he was excited for the honor of the new opportunity. As buildings and speeders flashed silently past the window of his car, the middle-aged man smiled to himself. Master Raganella had been quite clear in his instructions: You have the authority to make these decisions. Do what you believe to be best.
