Jade nodded in understanding. The Jedi selection process had resulted in driving a wedge between the selected student and other family members more often than it should have. Some families thought of those inducted into the Order as better than others, and understandably this fostered a sense of jealousy between siblings. Ostensibly this fed into why students were selected as children, that way they could more easily be brought up in the ways of the Order without being distracted by family ties. In Jade's opinion, this was one of the issues that led to the downfall of the Jedi at the time of Order 66. This was yet another reason why she attempted to understand before passing a judgement.
"With your success against your former Master, you passed your Trials then?" she inquired. It had long been tradition that a padawan who faced and killed a Sith Lord was ready for Knighthood. This was how Obi-Wan Kenobi had become a Knight himself. The enigmatic slightly-slien humanoid looked at Gavin curiously. "We are all at various points upon the journey to enlightenment, but if you operate within the basic structure of the Order, how is it that you have no padawan?"
This could of course be construed as a personal question. She knew that she had not felt comfortable initially in taking on another student, but Serrin Roma had left a void to be filled in Terra's life. Jade had filled it without considering that she could have declined the role. Sometimes it was necessary to do things that necessitated some personal discomfort and just because she would have been more comfortable alone had not been a sufficient reason for her to step aside.

*Gavin shook his head.*
"No, I had passed my trials months before. My master and I had been on a mission together, settling a political dispute on Garqui. That's when he attempted to kill the leader of Garqui and revealed himself to me as a Sith and wanted me to join him. In truth, he was the one who found me on Tatooine, lost to the desire of revenge. He witnessed the awakening of my ability to use the Force firsthand and felt I could be a powerful Sith. So he trained me, though as a Jedi as a cover, then hoped I'd turn, feeling, I suppose, a desire to stay by his side." *Gavin gave a faint smile as he remembered the encounter, scoffing slightly.* "Obviously, it didn't turn out in his benefit. After killing him, I fled into exile on Dagobah. Sure, I could have returned and explained what happened, but part of me felt fear that his influence on them might have turned that against me. But during the battle, things he said to me made me realize, that while I wouldn't turn to the Sith, I couldn't become the Jedi I thought I could. In my heart, I saw the galaxy differently. Well, at nineteen, I still didn't have the mind to fully understand."
*Gavin tilted his head as she asked about him having no padawan. He had had a few apprentices over the years, though never for the Jedi. His training methods would also never be accepted by them. Even his brother questioned him when he trained Tyra. He had his own view on training, believing for one to truly become strong, they had to be broken, then molded once again. This allowed the breaking of limits and doubts. But it was useless without also teaching the value of purpose and connection with others.
Gavin scratched the back of his head, thinking on how to answer the question. With the way she asked the question, she must have figured he was a Jedi, just more unorthodox. Taking a deep breath, he let his hand drop to his side as he formulated the words.*
"After I became a Knight, I never was assigned one. Perhaps with the threat of a Sith army, more focus was upon that. Of course, I'm not sure as to why I wasn't given one back then. But the reason I do not have padawan now, especially within the Jedi, is because I do not operate within the basic structure of the Order. I have not been tied to a particular Force-based order in a long time. All I merely am is a seeker of knowledge. I desire to know all I can, from all aspects of the Force."

Jade frowned slightly. It would take a Sith on the level of Palpatine to be able to mask his presence from the entire Order that successfully. How had no one suspected? That was disturbing, though there was a similar-type situation unfolding on Corellia judging from the last communique she had received from Nalatua'lin. That was different in that Ceri Velit was a Jedi on some level, though buying a padawan and training him in isolation from the Order in a slave-type fashion was a whole different level of duplicity. With luck that had been caught in time to sort itself out. If not, Aleranus would pay the consequences of what his former Master had done to him.
Perhaps that was something that needed to be enforced once again within the Order, within each Academy if not within the Order as a whole on Coruscant. Masters and Padawans should not be isolated from the Order at large. It was not healthy and it allowed an environment in which dangerous trends could be hard to spot until they had already done their damage.
She herself had undergone extensive military training and service before joining the Jedi, and she could only imagine how different Gavin's perspective on things was by now.
"I can see how your Master warped your perception of the Jedi," she began, "and how do you see us now in reference to the galaxy?" If he was here, then perhaps he had not followed the Sith teachings, although, she was not ready to trust him simply because of a familial relationship with Akire Phoenix. Decades of experience had taught her the meaning of caution.
"By this point you must be aware that aspects of Bogan and Ashla are not compatible," she pointed out, one eyebrow momentarily arching in emphasis of what she was saying. Herself, while not so strict as many of the Jedi--in fact she was more like a Grey, she accepted many to one degree or another, attempting to understand the reasons behind the decisions they had made. Her path had once deviated from the Order to a large degree, though she had never practiced the dark side of the Force in the manner of the Sith.

*Gavin brought his hand to his chin and rubbed it gently, thinking on what she said. Even now, her final words made no sense to him. Were they gods? Perhaps philosophers in the Force? Or maybe they were simply two people she chose to mention that believed different and that way of thinking contradicted each other. Whatever the case, he wasn't about to assume anything. He came to learn, as he said, so asking clarification was not the sign of a fool, or uneducated.*
"Bogan and Ashla? I can not say I understand what you mean."
*His arms then crossed at his chest, thinking on her words that Uriah had warped his thoughts of the Jedi. Had he done so? He thought back, deeper to those days, to that final battle. Each word echoed in his mind, explaining the difference between the Sith and Jedi. After a moment, he shook his head, returning to the present.*
"No, I can't say he warped my perception, not truly. For six years he had taught me the ways of the Jedi. If he hadn't all within the temple would have known my training was different. But even in the final battle, he did not deviate from his words. Instead he spoke of how there way was the fool's way, that not everything can be at peace. He simply said that the Sith and Jedi are not so different aside from the way they approach reality. I didn't join the Sith, because I could not believe in such a reality that everything had to be attained through power and darkness. I wouldn't go to whatever ends I needed to achieve my goals. But in my heart, I felt a truth in his words, that not everything could be filled with light, that darkness had its place." *Gavin nodded slightly, feeling he found the right words.* "That's why when I heard of the Grey Jedi, I felt it was more of a place for me."
*There was so much he had learned in his life, the light of the Jedi, the middle ground of both the Grey and the Dark Jedi, each showing him something new. But he had not taken to one way. No, instead he blended things, used the understanding he gained to form his own belief in the Force, the galaxy, and life itself. He extended his right hand slightly, keeping his arms crossed otherwise, as he addressed her other question*
"What I believe is what I've always believed. The Jedi seek peace through the light-side of the Force. They seek balance through these means. They do not seek destruction unless there is no other option, and even so, they keep it as small as necessary. They are a kind and compassionate group who seek to aid those who are in need."

He was not familiar with the concept of Bogan and Ashla? As in he had never heard of them? And Gavin's Master had been a Sith in disguise...
I am increasingly concerned by the trend in the Jedi Order of isolating padawans with their masters. It seems that we have laid the foundations for the abuse of that relationship and there has been a rise in Jedi being trained by Sith or other dark-sided elements. This is a matter for the High Council, and more specifically the Council of Reconciliation and Reassignment. Otherwise we will create our own destruction.
The Jedi Master blinked slowly, unfolding her arms and clasping her hands behind her back in a loose 'at-ease' posture as she silently paced a few feet back and forth before the taller male and then stopped in front of him.
"Bogan and Ashla, the two sides of the Force, Dark and Light as they are commonly called. They resemble the mythical 'yin yang' of Old Terran legends. The never-ending struggle that neither side can fully win."
The fact that Gavin Phoenix did not seem to realized the fundamental difference between the Sith and the Jedi was deeply disturbing, convincing Jade that he was indeed unsuited at this point to train a padawan. A faint smile twitched at the corners of her lips and vanished.
"I believe you are mistaken in your definition of 'Grey.' There is no distinct Order or teaching of the Grey Jedi, rather those who are labeled as 'Grey' are within the Jedi Order, they just believe that there is a bit more blurring of the line between Dark and Light. They see more easily solutions that would not readily present themselves to a traditional Jedi. We work within the Order, as Qui-Gon Jinn, the most noted of the Greys, did. We do not foster the splintering of the Order." She paused, unsure how to put this. "You will not find a true Grey who kills with the red lightning of the Sith. There are powers that the Jedi eschew."
He had blurred the boundaries between everything and muddled the Force into a discordance. If he had not claimed his willingness and desire to learn as the reason for his visit here, she would not have said anything. However, he had done so.
"There is a basic, presuppositional difference between the Sith and the Jedi. The Jedi are, as you say," she nodded in semi-agreement of his final synopsis, "compassionate. Jedi dedicate their lives to the service of others, the protection of the weak, the upholding of law e had blurred the boundaries between everything and muddled the Force into a discorand justice. The Sith, while powerful, have become so through their service of self and forwarding of their own personal goals regardless of the people around them. The Jen'Jidai are yet another faction, Dark-sided in tendency, though working for the advancement of a closely knit Order. They have mostly vanished from the influential arena of galactic politics."
She sighed, tiredly, clouds flickering through otherwise brilliant emerald eyes, "The Jedi and the Sith are galaxies apart...but between us there is hope for balance in the universe ultimately."

*Gavin watched as she paced in front of him, his head moving slightly with each pass. He listened intently as she explained what Bogan and Ashla meant. He understand the ideas of the Light and Dark sides of the Force, though never once had he heard those names. All the more reason as to why he was here. Truly, he would learn so much more. He kept silent as she went on, explaining the difference that were clear between the Jedi and Sith aside from the way they approached their goals. By her words, the simple way she explained the way they were so different gave him the realization that she felt he didn't truly know the difference. While he had studied with the Jedi, he was only now, in his time in the living realm, learn of the Sith ways.
While he agreed with her in some points, he couldn't help but feel that perhaps her understanding of the Sith was slightly misguided. He had met Sith, that while they did hold to the Sith ways and the darkness that came with it, they were kind in their own way. But at times, he felt the same way about the Jedi, that perhaps, even though following the light, seek the end of the darkness in a way that could turn them to the threat they try to erase. But he remained silent, and his eyes keep focus as not to betray his thoughts. He did not know her experience with the Sith, and he himself had encounter Sith of even darker natures.*
"Yes, true that the Grey kept to fighting with the Jedi. I remember so many battles they had with the Sith. And yes, through your words the Jedi and Sith are so far apart but through them each can the galaxy be balanced. Darkness and light flow within all things, even into the individual heart. None is without it. It is up to each to maintain that balance within oneself, something I have taught my apprentices many times."
*Gavin let his head drop as he scratched the side of his face a bit. When he looked up to her again, he had a slight smile and a small shine in his eyes.*
"Even with those few words, I have have already learn something new. I feel there truly is much I can learn in this place, if I would be allowed and had one to teach me."

The Jedi Master suspected he did not truly understand, but she was not overly fussed as a result of that. She'd lived too long and had dealings with too many people to take offense over something as trivial as this right now. If he had been training a padawan the matter would have been different. Green eyes glittered in the light as she mentioned something,
"The ever-present threat of the Sith provides focus to the Jedi Order, but you would be incorrect if you concluded that I am not familiar with the Sith. It is likely I would not be here today if it had not been for an 'agreement' with a Sith some decades ago. At the very least I would have collected some more scars."
She smiled in an almost predatory fashion at the memory of what had happened on Galantos. Unfortunately, there had been losses, and she had missed the look of realization upon her enemy's face as he realized just how far out of his depth he had ventured.
Jade nodded and carried on, "One is always learning something, if the mind is open and receptive to such. The Temple here has much to offer in that way. Also, I would advise speaking with Master Raylia Venci: she is a noted archaeologist, though finding her may be somewhat tricky as she likes to keep busy. Her office, when she is in residence, is in the lower levels of the Archives---have you ever seen them before?" She broke off to inquire, as the Archives here on Coruscant were indeed the largest receptacle of Jedi lore in the history of the Order, and could be considered something of a 'tourist attraction' among the younger students of the Jedi ways as well as the older masters.

*As if reading his mind, she answered the question of whether or not she was familiar with the Sith. But he could still only wonder if it was the same as actually living with them. He knew the Sith on Kuat, Sinistra, to be more exact, though she had the desire to rule, she was very hospitable. Even when he told her he was leaving because he had nothing to offer the newly rising Empire, she suggested he stay and make Kuat his home. And so he had accepted and was learning the Sith ways. But despite learning them, he knew he could never be one of them.
He watched her eyes glitter in the light and the smile that came to his face. For a moment, something felt familiar about her. It play at his mind for a moment before he pushed it aside. He was certain they had never met before.*
"In this day and age, it would seem that at least the older Jedi have encountered the Sith in some way or form, each, I'm sure, with their own story to tell."
*As she spoke of the Archives and the other Jedi, Master Raylia Venci, his head tilted to the side slightly as he listened with intrigue. True that such knowledge could be found in the libraries and archives of many places. While he hated the reading, it was easy to overlook when he started getting into the knowledge that lay waiting to be found. He had been to many places and seen many archives and libraries, each grand in their own way.*
"I have not, in fact. I have heard bits about it but have never had the pleasure."

"Well then, come with me."
She turned, leading him deeper into the edifice that was the Temple proper. Spaced along the walls were a multitude of information kiosks and data-terminals from which one could access various information including maps of the complex itself. She pointed these out to Gavin for future reference if he found himself in need of some direction.
"You would be aware then that Sinistra of Kuat, recently declared Emperor, formerly asked alliance with us during the latter stage of the Mandalorian Force Jihad?" she inquired in passing, "An interesting turn of events when Sith and Jedi fought side by side against a common enemy. Almost eerie in a way as if it opposed an underlying natural order. Although," she nodded, "this is not to say that individual Sith do not have things to recommend themselves."
She had experienced hospitality from Sith before, as well as extended it herself. But, the basic principles and worldviews of the two Orders were entirely different, not only in their ends, but in their use of means.

*Gavin nodded and followed, his trench coat flowing behind him. At this point his sabers were much more exposed. The two in holsters were twins, his right a black chrome with crimson accents while the left was silver with sapphire accents. At his right belt was a black saber, accented with silver panels, a gold emblem at the pommel and blue rings at the emitter and his left belt saber was a simple silver with black accents at the pommel and emitter with what appeared to be writing at the pommel. His fifth saber still remained hidden.
Gavin nodded in acknowledgement to the terminals, remembering each location they passed. He was glad that she was giving him the small layout despite not knowing anything about him. While it would be completely stupid to attempt a fight single handedly, he could have been gathering information, though it wasn't the case.
As she spoke of Sinistra and the alliance, he nodded. He, too, had been gathered by Sinistra, though by different means. He still didn't know why she ended up where she did on Kashyyyk. Perhaps she had come to gather the Sith there, but instead came to him and the other two in the Shadowlands. It was there that he joined with her for the battle. And what a battle it was. He had set up defending one of the shield generators in the drive yards. In the end, the forces had invaded elsewhere, but were pushed back before reaching his location.*
"I was at that battle. Sinistra, herself found me and a couple others in the Shadowlands on Kashyyyk. And it's not the first time I've seen an alliance formed between opposing orders."
*He remembered. The Shadows, the Sith, and the Grey on Ossus had formed an alliance for a time. Of course, it fell apart, Gavin himself, being the first to break the treaty. At times, he wished it would have held, but the battle he fought was one that had to be done. Not long after, the Grey followed. Before all was said and done, battle broke out for a time between them. And he had fought on both sides.
Shaking his head lightly, he brought himself back to reality and continued listening to Jade. As they walked, he began to wonder what she did her in the Temple. Almost everyone had a duty of some sort.*
"If you don't mind my asking, what do you do here, Jade?"
*As her name slipped from his tongue, the feeling of familiarity surfaced again. And now he saw why. Her name, her raven hair, her deep emerald eyes, the way she seemed to carry herself, all of it reminded him of his wife. Jade was the first woman he ever had a true relationship with, and had spent the most time with. He loved her so much and was fortunate to gain two daughters from her.
With this realization came another. While his tone when he spoke was calm and cool with a hint of intrigue, it changed just when he said her name. That single word, his tone was that as if he was speaking to his wife, as if he was deeply in love and it almost look his breath away saying it. Never before had he met another that went by that name, so he only had the one face, the one collection of memories to go with it, and with such, only one response. He hoped that it was just in his mind and that Jade didn't notice.*

Though she gave no outward indication of interest the diminutive female was aware that he carried a plethora of lightsabers almost as if he was a walking museum. Or perhaps he had not forged that lasting bond between a Jedi's soul and their weapon. She thought it was a bit of overkill, unless he was given to using them as projectile weapons.
Her voluminous outer cloak swayed as she preceded him further into the Temple. At his question, the barest hint of a smile twitched at the corners of her lips, though it was not reflected in her eyes. She stopped and turned to face him, arms folded in front of her, left hand clasping her right upper arm. The light glinted off three brilliant Corusca gems in an unobtrusive ring on her left hand, simple and yet priceless.
"I am one of five Masters that sit upon the High Council and administrate the affairs of the Jedi Order as a whole, promoting unity, stability, and peace within the various academies of the Order, not to mention my other responsibilities."
While this was true in itself, the reality was that two of the High Councilors had not been heard from in some months. Councilor Aerandir Calmcacil rarely set foot off Felucia, and currently Councilor Mike Frantz was on Yavin IV dealing with a situation that had arisen there in the aftermath of the Mandalorian Jihad.
Jade's deep green eyes were momentarily veiled by long dark lashes before re-opening into narrow slits as she considered Gavin, her head slightly tilted to one side. The latent fondness in his voice as he spoke her name was most surprising, and she would have had to be deaf in order to miss it. Black eyebrows arched steeply, inquisitively, for a moment before she dropped her arms and loosely clasped her hands behind her back.
"One might inquire why, upon such a short acquaintance, you find yourself called upon to address me in such an," she paused for one second, "---intimate fashion?"
A human might not have batted an eyelash. A human might have enjoyed it. A human might have missed the inflection in Gavin's voice when he pronounced her name. But Jade's hearing was much keener than a human's, and subtle ways of expressing affection were fairly normal for one of her culture.

*Gavin stopped and watched as Jade turned to him. His mind froze momentarily, figuring that she had, in fact, heard his tone and felt the need to address. To some women, they would enjoy such things and play along with it. Others would not be some pleased and Gavin thought as such from her. He braced himself mentally for any words of anger that came from her. Despite that, his outward appearance remained unchanged.
He was relieved when she went to speak on her position and the duties she carried. It was an impressive title, to say the least, and not one that could be earned lightly. He himself had held titles of great importance like that...once. But he gave it up in battle when he broke the alliance with the Sith and Shadow Demons by fight Raziel. Since that time, he never held another title, nor did he have such a desire. From that point, he always stayed away from anything that put him in the light. He preferred to operate from the shadows, though that, also had been some time ago.
He was about to respond when her expression changed. The way she stared at him returned the thoughts of worry. Perhaps she did hear how he said her name. He took in her appearance, noticing the ring, and for a moment, wondering if it was just a ring she wore or perhaps she was married. Then her words came as her hands fell behind her back and her head titled. She had heard, but he was rather surprised in her response. What her real feelings were, he could not tell. The most he could gather was that she sought for some sort of reasoning behind his intimate use if her name. He blushed for a moment before shaking his head.*
"I apologize for that. It's just that....you remind me of someone. Someone.....from long ago."
*His head dropped a bit and his voice became quiet. In this moment, something happened that he typically didn't do. His feelings were shown. His ice blue eyes no longer seem to pierce, but held a shine, on of happiness, and yet, sadness It was the same in his voice.
The sadness came from the simple fact she was no longer there. But with that came memories that brought happiness. The memory that played in his mind was his wedding night. It was clearly the best day of his life. He remembered the look in her eyes, the sound of her laugh, her brightness of her smile, the taste of her kiss, and warmth of her embrace. He returned to present, but not before a small smile came to his face and continued to stay there as he spoke.*
"I was married once. Her name, too, was Jade. You remind me of her a bit. Your raven hair, your emerald eyes, a bit of how you speak and smile. I also have never met another by that name until now, so when I speak her name there is no other face that comes to mind but her's and the feelings that I have for her." *He ran his hand through his sandy blonde hair, allowing the his eyes and smile to remain soft.* " But High Councilor? I wasn't aware that the Jedi had such. Surely, such a council is still young in its development. And of all people to run into first is one of such importance. But perhaps that makes the most sense. To see newcomers, get an idea of who they are, and make sure they are properly attended to, whatever course that maybe."

"Oh?" was her only query, as he then followed up his statement with further explanation. She said nothing as he clearly displayed his emotions for the moment, probably reliving a few old memories or something of that nature. She was a bit surprised that he would do so in public in front of a relative stranger, but then, weirder things had happened.
"I was married myself once. It was not a pleasant experience." Her fingers curled into a fist as she spoke, but relaxed almost immediately. Better things had happened since then, although decades later. "I suppose the correct response would have been 'I am flattered' or something along those lines--" she frowned, before carrying on.
"You have been isolated then, not even getting news I should think." Jade paused and reflected for a minute. "The Order has been united for some years now, at least a decade. The High Council is well established. Historically speaking of course you must be aware that the High Council goes back hundreds if not thousands of years during the Old Republic." If he denied that it would be beyond the realm of belief since it was unheard of for someone within the Order for some years to not know at least basic Jedi history.
"Call it being in the right place at the right time, or the leading of the Force. I was not seeking you. Our paths simply crossed." In fact, she'd finished a meeting with Nik Arreni and just received a package from Corellia accompanied by a message from Nalatua'lin, Chief Healer of that academy. It had given her pause for a bit, but she had reached a decision and was in the process of acting upon it when Gavin Phoenix had strayed across her path looking lost. It still amused her that Jedi would wait outside a Temple for an invitation to come inside when technically they were coming home. If they were Sith on the other hand, they probably would not have made it past the Sentinels outside.

*As Jade's ears were better than most, so was Gavin's ability to catch the smallest things. He saw at the edge of his eye her fist tighten then relax. While she did say it wasn't a pleasant experience, words never did justice to what one truly meant. Actions, however, laid a much clearer view. He couldn't help but wonder in the back of his mind what made it so unpleasant, but knew it was not his business.*
"I see. I'm sorry to hear that. Marriage should always be something that one enjoys." *It was there he left it. He didn't pry, and made sure his tone reflected as much. Just because he didn't mind sharing things at times, didn't mean others felt the same.
He listened on, his facial features slowly returning to their original state. He did recall the existence of the High Council through history, but he knew that it had been some time since one had existed in his lifetime. Most of the time, he knew of each temple having a council. But true enough he had been out of the loop and many of the galaxy's comings and goings.*
"Isolated? You could say that. I've spent the past forty years in exile, roaming alone and out of sight. But I am aware of the existence of the High Council of the past."
*Their paths had simply crossed. He was not sought out. That was good. If there was thing he was uncertain of in his knowledge and understanding of the Force was if it had a will of its own. It was the only question, the only point of view he could not hold as an established yes or no. Just another great mystery that he himself sought after.*
"Well, I do believe that it is most fortunate that our paths did cross then."

Gavin's opinion depended entirely on how one was brought up of course. To some cultures marriage was more of a social contract or political alliance rather than something based on 'feelings.' At her age, Jade had seen a good bit of the world and was far less susceptible to tender feelings in general. Not that she was emotionless, but after a lifetime of self-discipline and control, she was not one to talk about things of that kind with an almost complete stranger. After all, Gavin was not Akire Phoenix.
"Hmm. Forty years?" She looked at him sideways. "How old are you then?" He seemed young, at least in mind, definitely in body. While she herself did not look her true age as humans reckoned years, neither did she look like someone in their twenties. A keen observer could see that she was older than that from the chiseled angles of her face which no longer displayed the softness associated with youth, it could also be seen in her eyes, among other things.
"Be that as it may," she shrugged noncommittally, "our paths crossed, and you are no longer quite as lost."

"How old am I?"
*While he always expected someone to ask, he had hope to never tell. But it did have to happen sometime. He new he looked like he was in his twenties and based on his knowledge, skills, and understanding of things, one would be able to catch on that he wasn't that young. But at times, there were those who seemed to keep a more youthful appearance into their older years, at least for a time. But it was things like this that could completely blow that truth out of the water.
He looked at her for a moment, then to the side as he debated saying anything further. He could simply say that he was old and hope that he could let the subject pass, though somehow he didn't feel it would. And if he tried to withhold it, suspicions would only be gained. He let out a sigh as he faced her again.*
"The last time I checked, I was one-hundred and seventy." *He waited for a moment, then continued on, figuring he might as well explain a bit of it.* "My people are blessed with long and youthful lives. Compared to some, I'm a teenager."
*He then nodded to her other comment. It was simple yet true. There was nothing worse than being lost, whether in a building or in life, things he had experienced a few times.* "Indeed, I am not. And for such, I am thankful."

"That begs the further question, who are your people?" It was an oddly preserved longevity, and he'd been trained among Sith. Perhaps he'd unwittingly learned to wield alchemy and the Force to lengthen his life, and not just lengthen it in time, but in youth. Jade shrugged, that kind of appearance was not one she'd ever sought or desired.
"You are welcome of course, but similar information stations are located in most of the Jedi academies. You may never be lost in such a fashion again if you so choose," she stated quietly.
Of course the Jedi Master was suspicious, not very much so at the moment, but enough to be uneasy about him. However, she did not give him an indication of this. Personally, she was determined that as far as she was concerned he would not take on a padawan within the Order until a few things had been settled one way or the other. To just welcome people blindly and hand them responsibility would have been a dereliction of duty on her part as she had been chosen to be one of the guides of the Order.

*Gavin looked at her as the topic deepened. Perhaps he had made a mistake in mentioning his people. They were not known widely in the galaxy, especially since the Shadow had vanished. None had ventured into the galaxy from Naza in a very long time. He had preferred to keep his people secret, as well as his home. His eyes focused on her, debating, wondering if he could trust her to speak of them. She knew Akire, and of Falcor. Now knowing they were brothers, she must not know their lineage. He knew they couldn't be reached, but still.
Turning from her, he took a step forward. His fists tighten and despite being in his trench coat, his body was visibly tense. A quick sigh came from him as he spoke.*
"My people are the Nagarien. It would not surprise me for you to not know of them. They and my home of Naza Prime are well outside the reaches of this galaxy, away from the darkness and threats of war. It is a place of complete peace. I am now the only one who lives off world. I usually don't speak of them, only of my Kiffar inheritance, using the Force as a means to explain my age and appearance. But I feel I can trust you with such knowledge." *He turned to her once more, his eyes revealing a deep seriousness, as if leaking such knowledge meant life or death.* "It isn't information I like the galaxy to know."*He closed his eyes for a moment before looking to the ceiling, then to his side, his gaze softening.*

"Naza Prime is not marked on any of our starcharts, nor are there records of Nagarien." Jade remarked after a few moments, wondering how he saw himself fitting into the universe. When he spoke of a Kiffar ancestry, she looked at him askance. "How is it then, that you seem to be lacking the normal facial clan markings of a Kiffar?"
Fully aware of the fact that Gavin was attempting to confide, she could not help but wonder why if this was so private he was informing her, a stranger that he'd only met once in his life, of these things. Jade had walked a tightrope for years, juggling many responsibilities, and she had become a very private individual. Only three beings knew her background, and of them, only one knew anything close to her full history. Disgruntled by Gavin's presumption of familiarity, presumably upon the basis of her old relationship with Akire, Jade took a step back.
Moving through the milling crowd of Jedi a courier paused at Jade's elbow after making his bow.
"Councilor Jade?"
The petite Jedi turned.
"Yes?"
He held out a small parcel and a datapad. She took the parcel, noting that it was from Corellia, and quickly signed off on her receipt of the delivery, noting that Nalatua'lin had evidently sent it in some kind of haste.
"All the way from Corellia, expedited delivery."
"Thank you," she replied, in a polite, but curt dismissal. As he left she opened the parcel, noting that it contained a datastick and short note, both of which she pocketed for later perusal.
Turning back to Gavin, "The recent rebirth of the Empire under Sinistra's command has occasioned more busyness within the Order, as there is once again a feeling of menace spreading throughout the galaxy."

"Of course it isn't on any charts, nor their any records. The entire Tri-Naza system and their inhabitants are meant to be as such. Unknown from the galaxy."
*The Tri-Naza system, Naza Prime, Nazaremos, and Naza Minor resided together outside the galaxy. Nazaremos and Naza Prime where both living and Force-Sensitive planets, though Naza Minor was not. Naza Prime was a place of light and peace. Life was perfect there and technology didn't function unless life threating. Nazaremos embodied the darkness and was capable of corrupting any who walked on its surface. Naza Minor, in a sense, was moon to each. It was considered the neutral ground between the balance of light and dark. Nagariens lived on Naza Prime, free from worry, free to live peaceful lives, unhindered by war and conflict. Nazareans were the offspring of exiled Nagariens and Shadow Demons that lived on Nazaremos.. It was the only species that seemed capable of altering the lifespan of the Nagarien blood.
His mind reflected upon her question. Why had he not taken the clan markings? He didn't even know that he was half Kiffar until his forties when he joined his brother on Kiffu and helped him run the academy there. Falcor had asked the same question in taking their father's clan tattoo. Gavin had thought about it, but opted against it. While both brothers had embraced their Nagarien lineage, Gavin seemed to strive more as such, while Falcor began to take on the responsibilities and duties of the Kiffar. And even now, at this point, he felt to far disconnected from either side to be apart of them. It might be in his blood, but no longer in his spirit. At times, he felt as nothing more than a shadow in the galaxy.
Gavin was about to respond further about Naza and Nagariens as well as why he didn't have any tattoos when he looked down and saw that Jade had backed away. He tilted his head a bit as he wondered why. It was true that he was sharing things that normally he'd keep quiet. Perhaps she felt he was becoming to personal in the presence of a stranger. He couldn't blame her there. In any other situation, he'd share as little information as possible, altering certain facts if necessary. But he hated flat out lying his way through a situation when certain questions where asked. He had dug the hole, letting the flowing questions fill in around him. he hadn't planned for such a situation.
He then redirected his attention to the courier and listened as he gave her the delivery. He waited calmly as she looked through what she received. When she spoke about the rise of the Empire and the affect it was having, he sighed inward. He was glad himself to move on from their previous subject. He gave her a nod in agreement.*
I'm not surprised. It is only logical, considering all that happened in the existence of the last Empire. All must be alert as it rises, but hopefully this Empire does not cause the problems the previous one did. After all, Palpatine and Sinistra, while both Sith, are two entirely different people." *He made sure to refrain from mentioning any of his involvement with the Empire. He wasn't a spy, but with things already causing a stir, he didn't need to add to it.*
