I'm slightly confused. The way this is worded, it suggests that Knights are to be assigned to Masters in a continuation of the master/apprentice pattern.

Jedi Knights can still apprentice to master because they are not masters themselves.

In canon, Knights were pretty much on their own after passing the trials. If a Master took an apprentice, it would be a padawan, not a Knight. That's why I'm confused.

In canon Knights would many times still study under a master as well. Obiwan Kenobi for instance studied under Yoda even as he was teaching Anakin Skywalker. Just because you become a Knight doesn't mean you know everything.
However Knights could also stand alone and work solitary as well. They don't have to take padawans or study any longer under a master. However the likelihood for a Knight making his/her way to master this way is extremely slim to zilch.

All Jedi studied under Yoda at some point. It wasn't a direct, one-to-one apprenticeship. Knights were welcome to learn from Masters, but they were expected to be able to function by themselves, or they would have never made it past padawan. If you guys have it set up differently that's fine. I just sought clarification.

I was under the impression that a Master was not so until they Knight their first Padawan, but it's probably best not to over think any of this and just go with the flow.
