Disingenuous. Formality. Habits die hard.
It would be disingenuous, in Madieke's mind, to pretend that she and Atlantis do not know one another, and so after he has greeted them after a fashion, she starts her reply by nodding her own greeting and saying, "Grandmaster. Been a while." She had spent most of the walk to meet with Atlantis trying to decide how to approach the most awkward part of what brings them here, dispensing with the formality of ascertaining whether Atlantis has an alibi for the time of the murders. Calling the possibility of Atlantis, or his twin for that matter, remote is, in Madieke's opinion, an understatement, and the sooner that she establishes beyond the shadow of a doubt that the twins are not involved, the better. Since Pakchoain might perceive Madieke's opening with the explanation of why they are here as a subtle way of warning Atlantis, she ultimately decides to avoid any such potential misunderstanding.
Trusting that Atlantis will understand soon enough why she doesn't answer his question until she has asked her own, Madieke first gets the introductions out of the way since procedure dictates she identify herself and those with her. "This is Detective Pakchoain with the UPD, she nods towards the dark haired Lorrdian, Ranger Durnin, she nods towards the short, pale woman with the blonde and orange mohawk who takes the lollipop from her mouth and holds it up in case there is any confusion about who Madieke is referring to, and I are here on behalf of the Corps of Rangers. She can explain that she has been reinstated if there is any question, but Madieke feels confident Atlantis can figure that out without the need for her to spell it out for him. With one formality out of the way, Madieke doesn't waste any one's time by putting off getting the second out of the way as well, asking, You been here at the academy all day and night today Grandmaster?"
Even though Madieke feels the possibility of Atlantis being responsible for the attack is remote, habits die hard, and she watches his reaction to the question closely as well as that of Master Vos to see if either betray any signs of having expected the question or of being unduly concerned by it. Ideally Atlantis will indeed have been at the academy all day, leaving no doubt whatsoever that the murderer using the face of the twins was an impostor.

Nazani isn't too surprised when Aninh, other than commenting that she has some experience with Force users without giving any details, confines her answers to the questions involving the case. Not having considered that the perp's use of Vyridian as a disguise could have been chosen to engender fear among criminals as well as confusion among the investigators, Nazani makes a hmmming noise to indicate she is mulling the possibility over rather than trying to engage Aninh in further conversation. If the attack was a power play, giving the impression Vyridian was involved would certainly give other outfits pause. Even if they keep the fact a Force user was responsible out of the press, word will spread among the criminal underground quickly enough once the witnesses are released; which, Nazani thinks, might not be a bad thing if it keeps the inevitable skirmishes among the criminal outfits that will be fighting to pick up what they can in the vacuum Sike's death will create.
Her thoughts keep her occupied for the remainder of the trip to the academy, and Nazani follows Aninh and her partner to the entrance. It must, Nazani thinks in amusement as they are led to meet with Vyridian, be her night for meeting beings that don't talk much; the Jedi that had met them at the door about as communicative and personable as Aninh and her partner. Vyridian's terse and direct style is par for the course, and Nazani, having no prior experience with the Mist Order or its Grandmaster given that the UPD usually handles non-Force matters and the Mist Order deals with the Force-related ones, has no way of knowing if it is in character or not. If Aninh had prepped her for their interview of Vyridian at all, Nazani might have been prepared for when the Ranger reveals that she knows Vyridian personally, and the Lorridan can't help but glance towards her in surprise before looking away and reassuming her more customary watchful, calm expression. At least, Nazani thinks as she waits for Vyridian's response to the Ranger's question, Aninh didn't let her relationship with the Grandmaster get in the way of asking the necessary question.

Ayla stayed in the background for the time being, she was even about to step out to give them some privacy as in her mind, the three people whom she showed the way to were here to see the Grandmaster. Atlantis, himself, prevented her from leaving when she cleared read his thoughts and she looked at him briefly before blinking once to answer his question to her. . . Ayla knew that Mace was within the academy, as well but did not exactly know which part of the academy. Unlike Ayla, Mace still had her Force signature shielded by the crystal in one of her lightsabers but it did not meant that she and Mace weren’t connected in a way.
Before Ayla could even call out her cousin to let her know that she, too, was needed by Atlantis’ request, Mace was actually already standing behind all of them leaning against the garden’s entrance frame.
Mace, unlike Ayla, had been quite aware of several things, whether it had been the presence of that additional darksider to some of the thoughts that had been running through the three women’s mind when they stepped into the academy, Mace actually could not help herself but to read some of the thoughts right then and there. After all, they had stepped into the academy and this was more or less the Jedi’s territory and also this wasn’t a social call.
Not announcing herself just yet because Mace did not want to interrupt that ongoing talks right now, she was pretty sure though that Ayla was aware of her presence and so was Atlantis as she was straight in his line of sight. Straightening up from her position, Mace adjusted her white cloth around her neck that covered her upper body and decided to walk towards the side just half way to were Atlantis and the Rangers and detective were standing. Mace glanced at her cousin and took a deep breath before glancing at Atlantis with an impassive expression. The Grandmaster had been here all day long and even the entire evening and even though it would be her words against a few facts here and now. . . She knew that only the electronics in the academy could corroborate that.
His access to several areas to the academy had been used all day long and even a few times during the evening until he got to the gardens, that was the only area where biometric access wasn’t needed but then again, no one would believe that Atlantis was the culprit of whatever had occurred back in the city. But first thing that had been playing in Mace’s mind right now considering the question that had been posed to Atlantis, Mace focused her attention exclusively and entirely at the Ranger with the Mohawk before looking back and the one who was clearly in charge. Mace knew her, and she also remembered seeing her back at Crystal’s birthday party.
“Has the Vice-Governor been aware yet by you that you have invaded his privacy. . .” Said Mace with a neutral tone and expression, and however Mace might have found out about that, and however Mace knew, that was their problem and not hers. It was only due to the fact that she could still clear retrace an earlier conversation between SEO Aninh and Detective Pakchoian. Truth be told Mace was just doing that estimated guess that it was the one with the lollipop who did the hacking, because she looked to be the kind to do so.
Maybe Durnin could think that her hacking did leave a trace or whatever, but right now, as far as Mace was concerned she was still connected in both of the government but also the Order, it was after her job to serve as a link more or less, not that people knew that she was also the current advisor to the Senator but she was also a Councilor in this Order.
“Mace Jhiera Vos. Councilor.” Said Mace finally introducing herself and maybe it would be surprising to find two relatives be in the same Order right now, but at this point really she stopped caring what people thought of her and what she might or might not be doing.
Ayla, let Horsea know and tell her to strengthen every networks in the government. . .
If Ayla had not been trained to mask her facial expressions into a neutral mask, she would be looking surprised right now, not only usually Horsea did a better job in making most things un-hackable but usually the one hacking would be facing a virus in return, but obviously she was currently wrong right now, maybe Forcias would be needed for that also considering that he also thought of several things, but her thoughts about telling Forcias to head to the government building to see Horsea was stopped midway when she heard Mace’s thoughts again. . .
I’ll see to it that she is made aware of that. . . Thought Ayla as she still kept her gaze onto the newcomers as if nothing was happening right now and also as if she wasn’t currently communicating with anyone.
Right now though, Atlantis had been asked a question and even though she knew the answer to that, Mace remained mute after her introduction and just glanced at Atlantis for the time being before returning her attention onto the three women that were currently present here.

Atlantis never knew that Madieke had been a Ranger before. Sure, he knew her, she knew him that much he could remember especially when his name had been all over the press back then in the gossip section of it and it stopped there, beyond the fact that he was the Mist Order’s Grandmaster, that he was dating the Chief Financial Officer of Umgul’s government. Those things about him were public knowledge until his name all but disappeared from the press thanks to the current Attorney General who put an injunction on his behalf and mainly on Crystal’s.
That was a story for another time though, and one that he was willing to share when the time came, but tonight was not such a time especially when he was being introduced to a Detective from Umgul PD and the additional Ranger with the lollipop. He could not help but to have an amused smile on the corner of his lips because he knew what Ranger Durnin was currently doing, why she had that lollipop in her mouth and even though he wasn’t about to say that if she wanted to, she could light up a smoke, Atlantis did not see that happening especially in the middle of a serious conversation.
His attention though ultimately came back onto Madieke and he inclined his head when she stated that it has been a while, and indeed it has been. The last time he had seen her, it was during Crystal’s birthday, they had exchanged for a bit, he even had danced with her at some point until that one thing happened later on, much later on.
“Indeed, it has been a while SEO Aninh.” Atlantis said thoughtfully and sincerely too. It was the only explanation he could come up with in his mind at least, Madieke seemed to be the one currently in charge, therefore he wouldn’t be surprised if she was that person in charge, and she was the kind anyways. Although when she asked him if Atlantis had been here all day long and even during the evening, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion and now he was really starting to wonder what this was all about.
“Yes, all day long and even tonight after giving the younglings the leave they wanted, I came here to the gardens.” Atlantis replied still with that confused expression on his features, usually he was the type to mask his expressions but not right now, and not this evening, because that question there, really was starting to make him wonder what had happened in the city when he had briefly felt an unknown signature to him.
“Now… Will you tell me what this is all about?” Atlantis asked curiously before he looked in Ayla’s direction and even though he knew that she did not necessarily go into a person’s mind because she respected their privacy, he was actually hoping that she would bend that general rule of hers and just be on top of that matter. Although Atlantis wasn’t holding his breath currently, but with Mace’s appearance here and now, as if she knew that Atlantis needed her was a welcoming one indeed.
“For someone from UPD and two Rangers coming knocking on our door,” Atlantis thoughtfully began before he tilted his head slightly on the side as he looked at Detective Pakchoian first and foremost, because the Order here on Umgul did have an agreement with the local law enforcement, the crimes and all that weren’t related to Force users fell onto the local law enforcement, otherwise, it was their turf and now, even the Rangers had been called for that. Why?
With Mace’s statement to the Rangers asking if they had made aware his identical brother of invading his privacy, that couldn’t be good at all. It was easy to come up with that feeling that it was either related to him or to Andros for Madieke to ask him about his whereabouts throughout the day for them invading Andros’ privacy too. He was the Vice-Governor of Umgul, that really went over several proverbial lines that he wouldn’t even think about crossing, that even Andros wouldn’t think about crossing due to several layers of repercussions that would befall on him. Atlantis knew about it, Mace would have been the one to exactly do what was asked of her, something asked by Andros a long time ago… But again another story for another time, right now he was more interested to where this was all leading.
“That’s gotta be a first, and if you are going to ask if we are aware of the presence of an unidentified Force user, yes we are. But it came and went quickly as it appeared before I asked some of the best trackers here to pursue that.” Now, Atlantis definitely knew that he was going to be needing Mace, she was the tracker in question and she could read any objects and even any people because she was tethering towards a dangerous side from time to time but never giving in entirely. He knew of another tracker but unlike Mace, Horsea Aestrea wasn’t mandated to the Mist Order and she was busy, that much he was aware of being the Deputy Director of Intelligence.
Lifting his hand and looking at Madieke gravely this time, they weren’t close anyways and he couldn’t exactly call in that favor to just lay it all out for him, but he nonetheless did try. “Level with me, please, what did actually happen for you and someone from UPD to be here?” Atlantis asked softly before he closed his eyes momentarily and took a deep breath, he didn’t know what to think and he really wasn’t going to think about anything right now because he simply did not know. “If there is any way I can help, please don’t hesitate.”

In the affirmative. Red tape. Transpired. Whereabouts.
Atlantis answering in the affirmative is sufficient for Madieke, who feels relieved that the issue has been resolved but does not betray any outward sign of it. If Pakchoian feels the need to ask the other Jedi if they can confirm what Atlantis has said, she can ask, but Madieke feels they have already wasted enough time eliminating the Vyridian twins as suspects. Madieke nods when Atlantis asks if they can get on with things and discuss the reasons they are here at the academy, but before she can do more than open her mouth to start explaining someone else joins them.
The woman that later introduces herself as Councilor Vos opens with a barbed question about whether the Vice Governor knows that, in her opinion, his privacy has been invaded. Characterizing ascertaining whether Vyridian was in a certain building at a certain time and whether or not any comms he may have made during that period were to individuals that do not seem logical for him to have contacted as an invasion of privacy is, in Madieke’s opinion, ludicrous, but it would not be the first time that a Sector Ranger’s cutting through red tape for the sake of expedience ruffled feathers. How Vos knows about Nuala’s having accessed the biometric and comms records is, in Madieke’s opinion, about as germane to what happened this evening as debating whether it constituted a violation of privacy for Nuala to have done so, but if Vos wants to go into it further, she can do so. For Madieke’s part, she looks at Vos and answers in an even tone, “Didn’t see any point wasting his time asking a question I could get an answer to without bothering him.”
After pausing in case Vos wants to add anything further, Madieke returns her attention to Atlantis, who reveals that he already has some knowledge of what transpired in the city, having sensed the presence of an unidentified Force user briefly. “Detective Pakchoain and her partner were called to the scene of a multiple homicide earlier tonight, Madieke explains after Atlantis repeats his request for her to level with him, Few things about the scene, time line and presence of lightsaber inflicted wounds, indicated the perpetrator was almost certainly a Force user. Two survivors of the incident identified your brother as the perpetrator. UPD contacted the Sector Rangers at that point to ask for assistance in the investigation. Victim was the head of a large criminal organization, kind smart enough to operate quietly and without drawing too much attention to themselves.”
Atlantis should, or so Madieke hopes, understand now why she began by asking about his whereabouts, just as Vos should understand the need to determine his twin’s. Continuing with her explanation, Madieke says, “Only trace evidence recovered was a black fiber, probably from an article of clothing worn by the perpetrator. Not unique enough to be much help though, unless we can match it to a specific item. They can get into the possible motives a bit later, Madieke thinks, and instead moves on to the other reason they are here. Here to see if you, she looks from Atlantis to the other Jedi of the Mist Order to convey she means the Mist Order as a whole rather than just Atlantis in case that is not evident, know of any Force users, most probably Dark oriented, that are known to operate here in the Mid Rim. Could have been contracted from offworld to make the hit, she explains, make it seem like you or your twin was responsible to inspire fear in the OC world so whoever hired the assassin has time to capitalize on the victim’s death. Also need to know if you or your brother have any enemies you think might be capable of this. One of Madieke’s not quite a smiles surfaces briefly as, responding to his offer of help, she concludes, Wouldn’t say no to help. Could probably use a Jedi investigator on our team if you have one available.”

When she's among those she considers allies, Nazani doesn't concern herself with managing her expressions as she otherwise might; given that everyone here in the gardens of the academy is on the same side so far as she is concerned, Nazani's expressions are easy enough to interpret for anyone paying attention - even easier still for the mind readers in the group that don't have any issues with eaves dropping on the thoughts of others, though Nazani is naive enough to believe that she needn't be concerned about that with the present company.
When another Jedi shows up and reveals that Aninh's partner, so far as Nazani is aware, apparently wasn't as successful in her attempt to hack into the MG's records without leaving any trace, Nazani glances towards Durnin to see how she takes the news, having correctly predicted that Aninh's cool would not be disturbed since, in her experience, Sector Rangers tend to believe that their universal authority where matters of law are concerned translates into not always having the patience to follow the procedures of the worlds they find themselves operating on. There have been times that waiting for a warrant has impeded the course of one of her investigations, though, and so Nazani can sympathize with Aninh's desire to bypass procedure; though whether or not that will be true for whoever discovered Durnin's hacking remains to be seen.
Aninh was pretty clear about wanting to take the lead in the discussion with the Jedi, possibly because of her relationship with the Grandmaster, and so Nazani doesn't contribute for now, letting the Ranger lay out what happened and see if the Jedi will be able to shed any light on things. From what the Grandmaster has said about the Darksider, including the fact he has already assigned trackers to see if they can pick up a trail, Nazani feels pretty confident that Aninh will be getting the help she came for. Since the case is looking like it will involve more than enough moving parts to go around, Nazani is sure that even with the Rangers and Jedi assisting, the UPD will still be looking at a heaping pile of crap to sift through in order to successfully close the case.
As Aninh wraps up, Nazani's datapad goes off and, after taking it from the side pocket of her suit jacket and seeing that her partner is reporting in on his progress, she starts skims the message for the highlights in case anything relevant has come up. Deciding that reporting what Conall has learned can wait a bit, Nazani returns her datapad to her pocket and tunes back into the conversation between Aninh and the Grandmaster.

. . . Ludicrous it might have been for her, and just for that Mace did not blame her at all for thinking as such but there was so much more at stake here. Mace knew it, Ayla knew it and first and foremost she was certain that even Atlantis also knew it. Not only would it have been the most polite thing to do in letting Andros know that his name had been spoken in multiple homicide as him being the culprit, even though Mace granted the fact that it was never easy to approach the younger Vyridian, but the Rangers and the Detective only knew what was to know about Andros, glaring brooding type, but deep inside, Mace knew that something like could potentially drive Andros to a certain edge if he was not warned almost immediately.
Leaving it at that, Mace turned her gaze from Madieke in the direction of her cousin and gestured with her head towards the exit of the garden as if telling her to only not make Horsea aware of that hack, but also tell Andros everything.
“Rangers, detective.” Said Ayla respectfully after bowing her head and after she had gotten her instructions from her cousin. Obviously, Ayla knew that she wouldn’t needed here much longer than necessary, therefore she just turned around and leave to head where she knew she could find the Deputy Director and the Vice-Governor. . .
Considering that Mace had nothing further to add, actually she felt no reasons to add anything because Madieke’s reasoning was sound after all, Mace just ended up silent while listening to that exchange between Madieke and Atlantis. Great, lightsaber. . . Often a lightsaber. Although currently, Mace was more thoughtful and she had her hand onto her jaw before glancing thoughtfully at Atlantis, she had heard everything that had been related to them and what had happened to the city on those crimes.
Maybe Atlantis could see something that no one could have seen. . . But the black fiber was the thing that interested her for sure. An article of clothing probably. . . Unable to help herself, Mace asked, “Is it possible to handle any evidence?” Sure, it wasn’t noticeable that she was part Kiffar, because unlike her cousin or any other Kiffars here on this planet, she had no markings on her features at all. She could have been from Coruscant, from wherever really that were predominantly human descent, but still, it was worth a shot right?
This time Mace looked at the Detective and asked her, “Where are the two witnesses now?” The rest of Madieke’s questions, she knew that Atlantis could reply that on his own, it wasn’t her place at all to say what was what, and what was going on with the Vyridians and if they had enemies. Andros, sure he had one, that was a certainty, after what had happened the last time when a certain Rhea got here on the orders of someone that Andros soon blacklisted because he wanted to deal with that certain Lincoln Baltzersen, whom they had no further news about ever since that incident a while ago with Rhea.

Atlantis understood the fact that it would be wasted time to even go and see Andros and question him about his whereabouts, but knowing his twin brother, Atlantis knew that he would indeed want to find out why he was in the middle of an investigation. Andros was hard to approach; Andros was the difficult kind to interact with when he was perceived as someone who really did not give a damn about anything. But therein laid the difference, Atlantis knew his brother and even Mace knew him and if he ever found out from an external source, say like the press or if the survivors had been spreading rumors concerning him for something he obviously did not do… Atlantis did not even want to think about the consequences of that.
For that, whatever might have been exchanged between Mace and Ayla, he was thankful for that. He was thankful for Mace always being several steps ahead, and last but not least he was thankful for her immediately understanding why it was so important for everyone, and Atlantis wasn’t even kidding about that, to let Andros know instead of keeping him in the dark especially with what Madieke had just told him.
Andros had been the one identified, that was just impossible… His brother hasn’t even touched his own lightsabers for a while now, and the only thing he was utilizing were tonfas to train whenever he would get here in the academy to be alone without plenty of people staring. Atlantis trained with him from time to time too whenever his brother requested it. But that wasn’t the question, right now it was about a darksider potentially operating in the Mid Rim making it look like that it was Andros or himself. One name came to mind but that was highly doubtful for the time being, right? Atlantis would also notice if it was him anyways, and clearly that signature from before was very unfamiliar to him.
“For having enemies, one comes to mind, but that wasn’t the one in question.” Atlantis said adamantly before looking in Mace’s direction who was asking her own set of questions. Atlantis did not blame her at all, after all, she had that mastery in psychometry and after all, she was also one of the mind readers in this Order, but that was up to her and what she needed to do, because again even though Atlantis was factually the Grandmaster of the Mist Order, he wasn’t about to order whoever for this and that when clearly they were doing their part to cover most of the things.
“With what my brother has been decreeing lately, do you maybe think that someone wants him to be seen as the bad guy when everything he has done insofar is to just to make the population’s life easier and,” Atlantis rubbed the root of his nose and took a deep breath, because that did not make sense, why would someone want to discredit someone who has been working in the background this whole time? Sighing softly before shaking his head as he lifted his hand, this was turning out to really be ridiculous in a way. Sure, maybe someone was trying to push Andros’ buttons; did someone other than them, his circle, actually know that Andros was more turned towards the Darkside of the Force and that it only took a few things to really have him snap?
Clearly Atlantis had only been speculating and right now, he just had about enough because he knew that he was wasting his time, not only his, but the detective’s and the rangers’. So it was with a determine gaze that he looked back at Madieke after obviously cutting his previous statement short. “We’ll come with you.” Atlantis said while he gestured to himself and Mace before he looked back at the non-Jedi currently.
“And I’ll need to be where those homicides occurred, please.” Because yes, he needed to see something for himself and because yes, those crimes occurred that very evening and because yes, he only had that short window of opportunity to get a read of the surroundings of the place where those crimes occurred, so all in all, he was putting himself up front and Mace to handle this thing with them. He was certainly going to be there all the way and then Mace at some point will probably deviate but that did not mean he did not trust her, because he really did and that went without saying at all. “So please, lead the way.” He said as he gestured towards the exit of their current place.

Questions. Blowback. Details. Divide.
Madieke nods a farewell when Master Vos takes her leave after a nonverbal exchange of some kind from Councilor Vos, and then performs a nonverbal exchange of her own after Councilor Vos asks a pair of questions, glancing at Pakchoain to have her answer the questions since they pertain mostly to the UPD. Madieke had also heard the chiming of the detective's datapad, which hopefully means that her partner has reported in with details on anything pertinent the witnesses had done after their release.
Nuala, who had been tensed up ever since the Vos without the tatts had arrived and made it evident that her hack of the MG building's biometric records had not gone unnoticed, relaxes when it starts to seem as though there won't be any serious blowback. Nuala has worked with Madieke enough to know without a doubt that she would take any heat since, being the one giving the orders, she feels that she is responsible for any consequences, but working with a group that starts out with a lot of tension among those composing it is never good for an investigation. Taking her lollipop from her mouth briefly, unconsciously tapping it like she would tap the ash from a cigarette, Nuala rolls her head from side to side and waits for Pakchoain to answer the untatted Vos.
After Pakchoain has answered Councilor Vos, after which Atlantis takes the floor to answer Madieke's earlier question about enemies, starts to ask a question of his own that he seems to abandon, and then seems ready to get moving, asking to be taken to the crime scene. Taking the fact that Atlantis did not address the question about Dark oriented Force users operating in the Mid Rim as an indication that the Mist Order was not aware of any, Madieke first answers the question he had started to ask, "Serious attempt to paint your brother as the villain would have been more public or involved a vic that was an obvious target for him. Shaking her head, Madieke speculates, Seems intended more to deter the criminal element not behind the attack to me. Shrugging a shoulder slightly, she admits, Could be more to it, but that's how I read it for now. UPD is keeping some details from the press when they get wind of the homicides, so even if the intent was to smear your brother, it won't work."
Atlantis has expressed the desire to get moving, which she shares as well, and so after she has answered his question, Madieke nods in the direction he had pointed and starts heading back to her speeder. Unsure whether the Jedi intend to ride along with her or take their own transports, Madieke offers, "Got room for two more in my speeder," since Nuala will be taking her swoop bike. Madieke feels like they will get more done if they split up at this point, more than one avenue of investigation having presented itself now that the Jedi are involved, but holds off on making the suggestion for now, considering what the best way to divide their efforts among them would be.

Nazani catches Aninh's glance, nodding to acknowledge it before clearing her throat and answering the questions Councilor Vos had asked, "I can arrange for you to see the evidence we recovered, her expression mildly confused since she isn't sure what the Jedi would need to see the evidence for. The only physical evidence other than the bodies of the victims was the black fiber found near the body of who we believe was the primary target, the head of a criminal organization named Tok'la Sike. Our analysts concluded the fiber is of natural origin, and not unique enough to make tracking where it came from possible. The bodies are all at the morgue. The autopsies haven't been completed, but the coroner's preliminary assessment is that there is no additional trace evidence on them. Cause of death in all cases was either deep penetration lightsaber wounds to major organs or, in two cases, decapitations. Taking her datapad from her pocket and bringing up the message from her partner to make sure she isn't leaving anything out, Nazani moves on to the Councilor's second question, The witnesses have both been released, and we have surveillance teams following them to see if they met with or comm anyone."
Glancing at Aninh, Nazani says, "Your hunch was on the credits, one of the Niktos, Strago, commed Klivian almost immediately. Looking at Councilor Vos and Grandmaster Vyridian, Nazani explains, Klivian is . . . or I guess it's was a lieutenant in Sike's outfit. Looking back at Aninh, she continues, The conversation between Strago and Klivian makes it pretty clear that Klivian was not behind the attack. What Nemes, my partner, she adds for the Jedi's benefit, learned from the OC unit was that Klivian wasn't the only one in the running for succeeding Sike. A Weequay by the name of Arezou is also thought to have been being groomed to replace Sike. Checking the report, Nazani concludes, Strago has a house in Furgan, and the other wit, Orainn, has an apartment in Ganterville. Orainn hadn't contacted anyone or met with anyone the last time the surveillance team reported in."
After Aninh and Grandmaster Vyridian have their conversation and they begin moving out for their vehicles, Nazani starts typing a message to her partner as she asks Aninh, "Is there anything you want Nemes to be doing now, or should I have him meet us at the crime scene?"

Atlantis knew a few things, and those few things actually concerned Mace for the time being. Mace was the type of person or Jedi that came off as blunt and very brutal on first exchanges when it was a serious moment. Most of the people had qualified her as intimidating, Atlantis still does anyways. Still though, it did not change the fact that he knew Mace better than anyone here currently and the Kiffar Master Jedi always spoke in ways that may or may not catch you off-guard, and those were one of those moments for Ranger Durnin, he supposed…
“Ranger Durnin…” Atlantis said with a warm and friendly smile before he shook his head as if to tell her that it was alright and that there was nothing to worry about really. “If you need to light up a smoke, please feel free.” He told her sincerely, because after all, that action right then and there of what she had done with that lollipop was a dead giveaway, she really seemed to have needed one right now. He did not mind at all, as long as the cigarettes butts weren’t loitering around. That was his only condition anyways. The smokers' outpost right there on the wall was an indication of that since after all he did smoke in the gardens often during the evening when all of the students were asleep.
When Atlantis heard the answers to Mace’s questions, his eyes narrowed thoughtfully and he scoffed soon enough followed by a knowing smirk as he glanced at Mace this time knowingly. “Do you think that you could help me out with that information you have been provided about that fiber?” Atlantis asked with a grin, which would certainly help if he could pinpoint the location of what he might come to see. Either way, already Atlantis knew that he wasn’t going to look for someone with any types of weapon who might have been on sentry duty around the crime scene, he was going to look for someone who did not seem to be carrying a weapon since apparently the suspect’s weapon of choice was a lightsaber.
Good enough for Atlantis.
Also judging from the Detective’s following assessment and also Madieke’s, it was definitely more than that, but Atlantis was still wondering why him or even Andros? Someone was trying to get under his skin or what? That really wasn’t good if that were the case. Atlantis sighed and looked at Madieke for a moment and still in silence until he finally cut his silence short. “Indeed, but on my brother himself it will work.” Atlantis left it at that because he really did not want to go into too many details about his own brother and towards which spectrum of the Force he was oriented.
Whoever knew, now Atlantis was really thinking that he or she was driving Andros towards the edge, for… Atlantis did not know but that much was clear, someone and maybe he could get a read on that someone whoever that might have been which was why, he looked at Mace again and took a deep breath.
“I need you to come with me first, please, before…” Atlantis again left it at that, he knew that Mace would understand and besides, she was clearly the mind reader and to him, she could access his mind anytime she wanted, he wasn’t placing a barrier whenever she was around and this was one of those instances that he clearly did not have one around his mind. Atlantis looked at both the Ranger in charge, in this case, Madieke and the Detective.
“We’ll come with you SEO Aninh.” Sure, they would cover more grounds if they were separated but right now, he still needed Mace and no one manipulated electricity the way she did around the mist. After, he was guessing that the corpse wouldn’t be moving at all since they were at the morgue and Mace could confirm whatever else she might find or whatever else he may find after they are done with the crime scene. This time, Atlantis along with Mace just followed Madieke towards her speeder.

Decapitations, huh?
If this matter was a laughable matter, Mace would have probably smirked in amusement, but this wasn’t funny and she still had that placid but also impassive expression on her features. Yes, Mace had been known to decapitate dangerous foes and yes she had already done that here on Umgul with Rhea. So really, who was crazy enough to perform a sai chok twice in a same night? Definitely a darksider and definitely someone who was skilled enough to know how to conceal their signature this entire time.
Considering that Mace had received quite enough, and where the fiber came from, she moved away from that topic and just looked at the detective acknowledging everything she had said thus far. “I’ll actually need to see, handle the bodies.” She knew how confusing that sounded right that instant and really she did not want to explain the whats and whys of what made her just her and why she was requesting those things because fact was, that would lead her to reveal several things, and really, Mace wasn’t that much of a talker in these type of settings. . . Not that she ever was a big talker anyways. Thankfully, Atlantis was doing the talking and when he called for her attention, she automatically turned her head to look at him, understanding almost immediately what he was requiring of her, which caused her to smirk briefly.
“Yes, just point me in the right direction when the time comes.” Said Mace thoughtfully as she adjusted her gloves on her hands and made sure they were secure right then and there. She definitely had no problem to coming with Atlantis now and those bodies in the morgue aren’t going to be moving anyways. So that was still something that she could put on hold for the time being.
“After seeing the crime scene, depending on what Grandmaster Vyridian manages to find, maybe or maybe not I’ll need to see the bodies.” Told Mace to the Detective but already she was thinking about how she could make that work and that perspective already, it was something she somehow wasn’t looking forward to, with the amount of Force she knew she was going to require, she might change more or less. . .
But that being settled, Mace followed the Rangers and the Detective towards the airspeeder so that they could finally get on their way towards wherever that crime happened and she knew that time was currently of the essence because Atlantis could only make that work for a given amount of time. . .

As they reach Aninh's speeder and start getting in, Nazani stops a bit before the vehicle so the Jedi can pick where they sit as she answers Councilor Vos, "Handle the bodies? Her expression is slightly confused as she tries to figure out what exactly the Councilor is asking, but since she guesses that there isn't any reason to deny the request, she nods and says, I can arrange that, sure. Having worked with the city's coroner for several years now, Nazani feels sure that he will acquiesce to the request without any issue. Since she assumes she'll learn what Vos has in mind when they get to the morgue and has observed that the Jedi Councilor is about as chatty as Aninh, Nazani doesn't ask for clarification and instead tells Aninh, who hasn't been to the crime scene yet, Head for where the Shedra line intersects with the Katsu line, and I'll direct you from there."
After the Jedi have boarded the speeder, Nazani gets into the available seat and takes out her datapad to give the coroner, Nic Claus, a heads up that she will be visiting the morgue with the Rangers and Jedi, and that one of the Jedi will be handling the bodies from the Sike homicide.

Addressed. Hand. Chance.
Nuala looks surprised to be addressed when Grandmaster Vyridian tells her she can smoke if she wants, not expecting to have been involved in the discussions going on much, and she returns his smile a bit shyly and shakes her head to decline the invitation to light up since it feels almost disrespectful in the environment they are in.
Madieke frowns when Atlantis says that his brother will not react well to learning of the night’s events, not liking the idea of the Vice Governor allowing himself to be affected by whatever game the killer might be playing. “Anyone your brother will listen to? Madieke asks, Last thing we need is him doing something rash. Could be playing right into the killer’s hand if there’s another agenda aside from scaring other outfits into keeping their heads down. Leaving it at that, Atlantis the best judge of what the best way to handle his twin might be, Madieke turns to Nuala as they reach her speeder and says, Head back to the precinct, get with Nemes and see about getting eyes and ears on Arezou as soon as possible. Handle it yourself if the UPD can’t spare the people. Comm if that’s the case, I can get more help if we need it.” Nuala has helped her with surveillance in the past, and is more than capable of keeping an eye on the Weequay, but she’ll need help if they want around the clock surveillance and Madieke might need her talents on other aspects of the case. If need be, she can call for backup from the few other beings she has employed on occasion in her PI work, and Madieke can deputize them for the duration of the case as well.
As Nuala nods, hops onto her Air-2 swoop bike and zooms off, Madieke turns to Pakchoain and asks, “Any chance we can keep the surveillance teams on the Niktos for awhile? Might learn more about the lay of the land by watching what they do in the next day or two.” Nodding when Pakchoain gives her the directions to the crime scene, Madieke starts her speeder and heads back into the city.

*The Quiet Perseverance descended over the misty terrain of Umgul, and this close to the planet it was a lot plainer to see just how misty the terrain was: It was very misty. It was hard to see anything below, he could only now and then make out blurs, but that was the extent of it.
There was the peak of the Academy... He couldn't make out the shape of it very well through the mists, though judging by what he could see, it was probably a very nice-looking establishment. He assessed the flight plan again, which was directing him to land outside the Academy... curious. Perhaps they just had a different form of security than most other Jedi establishments. Fair enough, he could respect that. Landing was probably going to be a bit of an issue, though...
He'd just have to take it slow and easy, preferring to make an easy landing rather than risk some kind of shaky one.* Might wanna settle in for a nap, this could take a while. *Michelle chuckled, catching his meaning and even miming snoozing. He smiled and extended the ship's landing gear, taking it very easy and slowly. It certainly was a bit of a lengthy descent, but finally he felt the ship groan gently with impact. Finally. The ship settled at last and Aerandir cut the engines, undoing his crash webbing and getting to his feet.* Well, I suppose we'll wait for someone to meet us. We can hang out at the bottom of the ramp. *He started to head for the cockpit's exit, then stopped.* ... with it closed. No need to let all this mist in. *Michelle grinned as she got up to follow him. Aerandir led both the girls to the bottom of the ramp and closed it, deciding they could come back for their things later, depending on whether or not they would be staying within the Academy or within the ship. The mists were very thick... he could hardly see in front of him. He instead resorted to extending his senses outward to search for and keep track of signs of life.* Found the potential handicap for the culprit... *Michelle nodded. Aerandir attempted to adjust his eyes some... if it was possible. Was that how the people who lived here dealt with the mists? Or did they all use some kind of special gear? He'd find out soon, he supposed, or he could have researched that further. Either way, it was like another adventure, and it had been a while since he'd set foot on a new planet. This would hopefully be an interesting experience...*

Enroute to Mist Order Academy
"It gets worse? I ask Atlantis with the thin ridge of muscle over my left eye arched in amusement, easily able to imagine what he means from even the relatively brief time I had spent with his friends; they all do seem to delight in teasing one another, or in Franz's case, in acting as though the teasing is traumatic. I'd best prepare myself should I decide to join everyone on the morrow then, hadn't I? I jest with a smile. Nodding when Atlantis, referring back to an earlier conversation, says that he would welcome the presence of a few instructors from the academy on Corellia, I take a few moments to consider who best to ask to make the trip; ultimately deciding to wait to get a better idea of what areas of their learners' instruction the Mist Order might benefit most by having additional teachers to take on students to improve the teacher to student ratios.
The first I see of the Mist Order's academy is the faint outline of the main building with its three towers in the distance, the pervasive mist that characterizes the planet obscuring all else until the capricious whim of wind and moonlight result in a momentary clearing of the mist that affords a more detailed look; what I am able to see of the the academy before the dance of the winds conceals it once more is strikingly beautiful, the architectural style, which is unfamiliar to me, lending it a sense of great age and constancy despite what I know to be it's relatively recent construction. The location the academy is situated in seems well chosen to me, affording students and masters alike ample space for training, and an environment conducive to study, training, and meditation. "You have a beautiful academy, I tell Atlantis as he begins to bring the speeder in for a landing, I look forward to seeing more of it." Stepping from the speeder after we have set down, rolling my neck from side to side to help my lekku slide from over the front of my shoulders so they drape behind my back, I wait for Atlantis to lead the way to where we are to meet Aerandir.

"Oh yep, it does..." Atlantis chuckled at the thought as he even shook his head but considering often time he had heard that it was mainly between Crystal and Lily and sometimes even Elika was dragged into it, he was sure. "Crystal takes the most of it from her childhood friend and sometimes Elika gets some of it, but really just spend some times with the three of them, you'll know what Franz means by the end of it." He left it at that at least he had warned Serrin and she was also considering preparation if she was coming tomorrow. Lily even invited in a way Aerandir if he was interested, although she referred to him as whatshisface.
"Welcome to my world and sandbox, Serrin." He told her teasingly as he noticed that they were nearing the academy itself and he had a noticeable smile upon seeing the peak of it. He was very proud of that building and also very proud to know personally the person that had imagined it for not only him but for everyone else that would see it as welcoming he hoped and insofar he guessed it had the desired affect to 'outsiders' or to those that had not seen it before and were discovering it for the first time. "Thank you but you only have Elika to thank for, she imagined it and I suppose that she wanted it to reflect us here in Umgul." He admitted to Serrin as he brought the speeder down securely at least a little away from the craft that was around.
There was a hangar bay but considering that none of the councilors were present here, Aerandir wouldn't be able to just land there. Stepping out of the speeder, Atlantis closed his eyes momentarily and took a deep breath before raising both of his hands and he cleared the mist momentarily to see exactly where that vessel had landed and he saw three people there, smiling briefly and releasing his hold from the Force, Atlantis walked in the direction of the Jedi from Felucia and stopped right in front of the man but also women. "Master Calmcacil, welcome to Umgul." Atlantis said as he bowed respectfully before looking at his two assistants. "Welcome as well to you two." He added on before speaking again. "I am Atlantis," Obviously he despised titles when it came to him and he preferred to being called by his name. "And I believe that you know Master Roma." Atlantis sidestepped knowing that he was probably overshadowing her with their difference in height that way Aerandir could see Serrin himself.
But this wasn't probably the best place to do the whole meet and greet so he looked at the four of them. "Why don't we head inside, so I can give you all the clearances you will need to make the academy your dwelling place for however long you want or need?" Atlantis suggested as he turned around and led the way towards the entrance of the academy. Presenting the palm of his hand on the scan, the doors opened soon enough followed by the lights in the entrance hall.
Right those formalities, "Right, I am really sorry to be doing this, especially when we have just met but I will need your thumb print and retina scan." Atlantis winced at the thought because really this wasn't how he was expecting his first meeting with the Jedi from Felucia to happen. But when they looked around to doors that would lead them to different areas, there were consoles next to it that always adjusted to the height of the person when it was necessary and the only way of accessing those areas were with what Atlantis had requested.

*The wait hadn't been too long, though it provided ample opportunity for Aerandir to attempt to adjust his sight and brush up on his sightless sense; not too much application was required, especially since his physical sight was still available, just slightly hindered. He would glance at the girls on either side of him, at their various idle activities. Michelle specifically seemed to be attempting to manipulate the mist around her using the Force, simple little tricks like forming a sphere, then various other shapes. Most likely out of boredom, but then she liked to keep her skills sharpened, so maybe she was practicing something or testing out potential new skills.
Eventually, the hum of a speeder was heard, seeming to carry through the mists in an odd mixture of amplification and muffling, as though the mist cloud were both absorbing the sound and at the same time carrying it along. It was at first a little disorienting, but it was at least a benevolent warning that he would need to be attuned to his senses and identify sound and its origin before it became overwhelming, in conjunction with extending his senses to discover the source and "tag" them that way.
However, said extension of his senses brought back a curious discovery: A presence quite familiar to him, one he hadn't felt in quite some time, and was quite surprised to feel now. His eyes widened barely-imperceptibly at the revelation, but mostly he was just very relieved to know she was okay. Then, upon another recollection, he surreptitiously smiled in Morgan's direction before speaking.* I sense something. A presence I've not felt since... *He allowed the sentence to trail off, perfect timing too as the speeder died down, the sound around him drifting away in the mists. The mists before them parted, an act of the Force, and Aerandir turned his head to see the form of who had parted them. Headmaster Vyridian stood there, the speeder outlined behind them; the clearing act had not completely uncovered the vehicle, but it was still mostly visible. Maybe his eyes were adjusting?
Aerandir turned to fully face the man, returning his bow as he greeted them and confirmed his identity. Headmaster Vyridian, however, seemed to be of kindred spirits with Aerandir, using only his first name in lieu of titles. Fantastic; Aerandir would have to return the courtesy when he had the chance. Atlantis then introduced the familiar presence, Serrin herself, presuming that he already knew her. Aerandir allowed himself a wide smile as he bowed to the Twi'lek.* Of course! It's quite a surprise seeing you here, but it's good to see you again, Master Roma. *Straightening, he addressed Atlantis.* And please, call me Aerandir. These are my apprentices, Michelle and Morgan. *He gestured to the blond on his left and the brunette on his right respectively, Michelle offering a bow of her own before speaking.* It's a pleasure to meet you, sir. *Aerandir smiled and continued.* As I said, young, but capable. It is good to meet you in person. *Atlantis then suggested they move their meeting inside, going so far as to offer the three of them clearances and use of the Academy as a dwelling for as long as they needed. Well, that was quite generous, surprisingly so almost. He for now simply nodded and followed along with his charges, peering inside the Academy doors as they opened. As he assumed from what he could see of the Academy's peak, it was quite the ornate establishment; he still couldn't clearly make out the entire building through the mist even from this close, but everything he could see was reinforcing this point.
Atlantis then apologized as he requested their thumb and retina scans, for access purposes no doubt. That explained the outside landing then. Aerandir nodded, supplying his thumb print first on the console indicated.* No worries, just a security measure, I understand. *After supplying his retina scan, he stepped aside so that Michelle could supply her own as he turned to Atlantis once more.* This is all very gracious of you, though you don't need to give me access to anything more than you feel is necessary. If necessary, we can even sleep in our ship, it's actually quite nice inside. *He grinned, though made it clear he wouldn't refuse the hospitality; he just merely didn't want to be a bother.*

*It hadn't been until that moment their ship had left the atmosphere of Felucia that Morgan started to question if she really wanted to be coming to Umgul; being connected to a planet made leaving it practically hurt, a feeling like tearing coursing through her very spirit. As her spirit was intricately woven with that of the world, it felt like she always left behind some part of her whenever she was taken away from the world, whether voluntarily or not.
It stung. It made her want to cry. But she always recovered after a few moments, taking solace in the fact that returning home was all the sweeter, feeling that connection return as well as that part of her she'd left behind. It also helped that she had a task to distract her from these thoughts, the shivering tailring in her lap requiring her arms, voice, and touches through the Force to sooth and help ease his fear of space travel.
She wished she could have brought Rush, and he hoped the akk wasn't confused or fearful upon suddenly being no longer able to sense her upon the planet any longer. But the Force's connection ran wider than mere planetary range, and he would know she was safe and would return to him. Force forbid Morgan find herself in danger while away from Felucia, however, for she had no way of knowing how the poor creature would react should he sense his owner in danger and be unable to come to her aid.
Morgan spent most of the flight in thought. What would Umgul be like? If it were Jake, he would have researched it intensely before leaving. That was good, he always liked knowing what he was up against, much like... well, anyone thoughtful really, but their daddy himself only had a vague knowledge of the world. Almost uncharacteristic, since he usually studied up greatly on various destinations. Michelle too... And what with a potential criminal they had to track down, it seemed even more odd that they did not intently research the world.
Jake... she hated parting from him too, though their separation wasn't as soon felt to her due to her sudden disconnects from the planet. She felt a little bad about that and wondered how it felt for him when that sudden separation occurred; she had grown up with a loving family, and was very happy to have discovered a living member of her blood family, but Jake only had her, and she couldn't imagine what it must be like for him to be separated again, even on such benevolent partings.
She hoped little Lucy would be okay being separated from her daddy for however long this would take as well...
Finally, they had reached the planet, and Lokay, who always recovered just fine during hyperspace travels, once more curled and huddled up fearfully against her, requiring her calming aid. Exchange was made with control and the ship descended toward the planet. The very misty planet, she discovered as they drew closer. She, like her companions, had a hard time making out anything through it, though the peak of a rather elegant-looking building was plainly visible. As it turned out, this was indeed the Academy they had been directed toward. If only she could see it a little more clearly...
Her daddy made a comment about "settling in for a nap," which she didn't get at first until she realized how slowly the ship was descending: He was essentially making a blind landing. When at last the ship touched down and settled, she let out a breath of relief, unsure why she had done so; traveling wasn't really a bother for her, but then again, maybe it was nice to be traveling the right way, instead of trapped in someone's cargo bay for once. Okay, so that was only two times... Two more than she'd wanted, though.
As they prepared to exit the ship, her daddy making a comment about not letting mist in, Lokay finally uncurled and let out a satisfied squawk before climbing up to Morgan's shoulder. She smiled and nuzzled the black-and-red tailring as she got up and followed her family outside of the ship, only to be met with a wall of mist. This wouldn't do... "Handicap"? She supposed this mist made good cover, especially to those more used to it than them. She glanced over at Michelle as they waited, surprised to see how partially obscured she was even at such a short distance. Morgan watched her manipulate the mist in front of her for a little before returning her attention to the immediate area around her curiously. Mist was water... Morgan knew a couple of water manipulation techniques. Maybe she could attempt to see if they worked on the mist here? Sure, she didn't quite sport the same feeling of efficiency she had while sharing energy with Felucia's jungle, but it was still worth a shot...
However, as she raised her hand, she heard the sound of a speeder approach, which sounded very odd in this mist and even briefly made her wince. As the sound ceased, her daddy mentioned something about a "presence" he felt. Frowning curiously and tilting her head to the side, she extended her own senses and— Wait, who was that? She knew that presence! What was she doing here?!
Her eyes widened in surprise, both at this sense and at the mists suddenly being cleared to reveal two figures. She leaned to the side a little and strained to get a view of the figure accompanying the man from the message... It was her! Morgan gasped in delight and beamed as the two approached, the man greeting her daddy and he greeting him and Master Roma, before introducing Michelle and Morgan to him. After Michelle bowed and greeted him, Morgan removed her twinkling green eyes from the Twi'lek Jedi long enough to bow to the man as well and greet him.* Nice to meet you! *She then turned back to Master Roma, beaming again.* Master Roma! I didn't know you were here! It's good to see you, it's been so long! How are you? *Oh, maybe she was getting ahead of herself, as the man named Atlantis suggested they move their meeting inside. Morgan blushed a little, and maybe felt a little bad about seeming so excited to see Master Roma again without paying the stranger much regard, but what could Morgan say? Master Roma was a very nice person she quite liked and hadn't seen in some time! But for now, she wordlessly followed the party toward the Academy, surprised that she too was asked to supply a thumbprint and retina scan for security purposes. That... was kind of impressive, and made her feel important in a way, which was a good feeling, of course.
So she complied, then returned her focus to the two other Jedi, but mostly Master Roma. Not that she would ignore Atlantis, of course, he was important, especially since he was the one who had called them here and had all the important information they would need to know, but she knew Master Roma more, and her presence made her feel a little more at ease.*

Smiling as I listen to Atlantis describe his friends, and adopting a playfully worried look when he concludes by positing that I will come to understand Franz's claims of being traumatized by the women, Lily chief among them, I ask in jest, "It sounds as though that understanding is an inevitability, should I be worried? Nodding when, as he sets the speeder down, Atlantis explains that Elikapeka is responsible for the academy's design, I ask, Is that how you met her then, when she designed the academy?"
Following Atlantis to the ship where Aerandir and his apprentices are waiting, I smile as I return the bow Aerandir offers me, telling him sincerely, "It is good to see you again as well Aerandir, and then, after inclining my head in a bow to greet Michelle when Aerandir introduces her, my smile widens as Morgan greets me with her customary, infectious exuberance, I walk forward to kneel to offer her a hug, saying cheerfully, It has indeed been a while, Morgan, and I am very pleased to see you again. Remaining at eye level with her, I tilt my head to the side with a playfully accusatory expression as, though she is still small for her age, I say, You have gotten taller again, and I have, once again, not. Soon you will have to kneel to hug me I fear. I am well, I answer her question honestly enough, seeing no need to trouble her with my recent struggles, and then ask, And you? You must tell me of all the adventures I am sure that you've had since last we spoke. Looking over my shoulder as Atlantis suggests we head inside, I frown playfully and say, As Atlantis is in such a hurry, I suppose you will have to tell me of them as we hurry after him. Standing and offering my hand should Morgan wish to take it, I follow after Atlantis and the others as I ask Morgan, And how is Mother Felucia? She has been well I hope?"
As Aerandir performs his retinal and thumb scans, I smile as I kneel down and, as though confiding a secret, tell Morgan, "I seem to recall that you enjoy swimming, do you not? What would you think if I told you that tomorrow Atlantis and his friends are having a swimming party? Would you like to come? I believe Atlantis will be inviting Michelle, your father, and you soon, so you must remember to act surprised so I do not get into trouble for spoiling that surprise." Lifting a finger playfully to my lips, I stand after the others have finished with the scans so that Morgan and I can complete ours as well.
