*The Dune Sea was a vast, sandy desert that stretched across the surface of Tatooine.*

How long had it been? Weeks? Months? Years? Surely he should know, but for some reason he could not recall. Where was he even? The instant growl of the Machine reminded him immediately where he was, and what his mission was. To protect. The barriers had fallen weak, so he decided to stay here, until they were strong again. It would not be long now, before they were strong enough to leave unattended again. They were almost ready.
The Machine hummed to life for a moment, but the invisible barriers keeping it from working glowed a bright blue, and shut it off again. The Elder took the chalk in his hand and began drawing symbols on the walls, the floor, anywhere that he could. The symbols were to channel energy from Tatooine directly to the barrier. Destroying it was impossible. Keeping it locked away was the only option. Hundreds of years of experience was being brought to use to keep the Machine from breaking free, and wreaking its havoc on the inhabitants of Tatooine.

The Elder had been in a conversation across the planet with Jud'dayus, all the while preparing for the worst. His barriers he had placed were weakening already. It had taken the Machine hundreds of years to break through both his and Jud's, but by himself, even strengthened by his bond with Tatooine, his were proving too weak. He moved quickly from place, strengthening the barriers with ancient words and chants that he had learned years ago.
He was both buying time and speaking to Jud'dayus when he saw the figures rise. Dark forms of shadow and fire. He was suddenly given a vision of the Machine, of its first days of "life." These were the Guardians of its duties, ensuring the Machine continued to exist and work. He finished his conversation with Jud'dayus.
=The Elder= "I am in the Dune Sea. Time is short. If you wish to help, come quickly. Bring my ligh-"
The nearest Guardian flinged its arms and sent lightning towards the Elder, who caught it in his hand and tried to absorb it. The lightning dispersed and the Elder yelled in pain, falling to a knee. Using his staff for support, the Elder stood back up and pushed at the creatures with the Force, sending one flying. The shadowy form dispersed in the air, and another one sprung up from the sand and rock in the cave. The Machine let out a strong rumble through the rock, lighting up the cave with a bright flash of light, and causing several stalactites to fall from the roof of the cave.
=The Elder= "Demons! Ghosts of the Kumumgah! Your masters are dead! Go back to the hell which birthed you!"
The Elder dropped his staff, standing firmly on his two feet without aid, and held his hands together, gathering energy to him. Light sparked in between his hands, growing as intense as a white star. The Machine's guardians advanced on the Elder, growing close to the old man until he let loose his attack. The light expanded out from him, overtaking the guardians and destroying their forms. As soon as the light faded the Machine rumbled again, and more of the shadowy guardians spawned from the rock of the cave.
=The Elder= "It's never that easy."
The true fight began.

Anven raced across the scorching hot sands of Tatooine as he continued to follow a faint darkness he had been searching for all over Tatooine. It was a strange Darkness one he was sure he had felt before yet it always felt so far away and even stranger yet it only ever appeared for a few seconds then disappeared again. When the darkness disappered for what he swore was the hundredth time by now he stopped his swoop and just stared out at the vast Dune Sea wondering where the hell it was coming from.
The reason Anven was chasing this darkness all over Tatooine was because he hoped it would lead him to where the Elder had disappeared to it having felt similar to what he had felt back when he first met Nartaga he assumed it couldn’t just be a coincidence. Sadly he felt as if he was getting nowhere closer to where the Elder was and almost as if he was just going in circles looking for the damn place this darkness was coming from.
Anven reached behind him into a bag that was hanging on the side of his swoop and dug out a pair of electrobinoculars and began to scan the area with the see if he could find any signs of well anything out there. There wasn’t much in sight besides some mountainous rock formations far into the distance but besides that there was just sand and more sand. With a heavy sigh he put his electrobinoculars away and started up his swoop again and took off towards the rocks as that was as good a place as any to start looking again for the old Tusken Elder.

The transport came screaming to the surface and hovered meters above the sand floor, the back doors opened and two 4 man speeders raced from the cargo bay and dropped slightly and sped off, while the transport took off into the air and began it's close air support procedure.
Odi came in on the communication network that was linked to everyone in the group.
::Renegade Element, this is Six, hot drop is clear and all looks green. We're going to push to Checkpoint One. Weapons status is hot. These raiders have scouts in the area and no doubt they've seen our transport. We're here for the artifact and our mandate is that any lifeforms we come across are to be considered hostile. Rules of engagement are now shoot if it counts and shoot anything that comes near us. Our time frame is approximately 6 hours till extraction. In and out gentlemen. Renegade Six, out.::
Cutting his transmission, Odi held his hand up and threw it forward as his speeder, with his communications sergeant Danny as pilot, sped forward into the Dune Sea.

It took almost two hours until the CAS from the transport above gave confirmation they had eyes on the settlement near an outcrop of hills and cliffs. The two ground units continued to speed forward. Odi stood for a moment and grabbed a pair of binos and looked towards the settlement. Low fortifications were visible, it looked like small hutts and possibly a few guard outpost. Odi pointed to the other speeder and motioned left of the settlement, a basic flanking maneuver to come at two sides to make the inevitable fight on two sides, confused and disperse the resistance.

::Odi this is Marcus, I've got Matt, Danny, and Tommy. We're pushing through the western side of the village, setting up a support by fire. Matt and I are going to try and take these two towers to provide overwatch with long rifles. On you we go.::
Odi looked west and saw the speeder that broke off move fast to the outer limits of the village on it's western side. They would soon be within Raider long rilfes range. He hated these types of missions sometimes, they were too abrasive and fast. Moving to contact gave away the element of surprise. Odi pressed the activator on his communicator and spoke loud over the rush of wind.
::Renegade Element, lets hit it.::
Both speeders picked up speed and moved within range. Blaster fire erupted from the two story towers that were on the limit of the village. The shots were warning ones, or terrible marksmanship, but it got their attention quick. After the speeders continued to move, the incoming fire became closer, it was clear whoever was in those towers was trying to kill them now. The speeder that had Team Two consisted of the Senior Medical Sergeant Marcus, Senior Communications Sergeant Danny, Junior Long Range Surveillance Sergeant Matt, and Weapons Sergeant Tommy. While Team One included the Team Leader Odi, Senior Long Range Surveillance Sergeant Ross, Junior Communications Sergeant Brad, and Junior Weapons Sergeant Jay.
Team Two was the first to return fire at the towers. Accurately engaging a elevated target was difficult but the Team Marksmen wouldn't break a sweat, but accurately engaging an elevated target while moving at high speeds and dodging incoming fire, was another devil entirely. Fire superiority was the main objective. Team Two opened up with sporadic fire, trying to overwhelm the enemy and keep their heads down, at least until they could the distance. It took less than a minute to reach the tower and the returning fire from the enemy lulled for the briefest of moments for the men to hop out the speeder and break the door in.
Inside the first tower, the occupants were taken off guard. Not expecting the fast reaction timing of their assailants. Tommy quickly opened up with his modified WESTAR M-5, mowing down the three fights before they were able to swing their rifles around. The rest of the team filed in behind Tommy, picking up sectors of fire as they swung through and cleared the building. Four none firing hands shot in the air with the thumbs up sign, giving the signal they were clear and up. Marcus moved to point man and took the stairs making his way to the roof top.
Kicking in the top door leading to the roof, Team Two filed out and at point blank range fired upon the two fighters that were huddled behind a low wall. The enemy fighters were taken off guard, not expecting their position to be overrun so quickly. After their sectors were clear, the same procedure of lifting their hands in a thumbs up gesture, Marcus gave them the signal to kneel and moved to Matt.
"Hey that second tower is about to figure we have this one. I say we smoke the second tower and place you and Tommy on long range to cover Mike. You think we can take down that tower with an RPPG (Rocket Propelled Pulse Grenade)?"
Matt poked his head over the wall and looked over at the second tower only to see four heads of Tusken Raiders looking straight back at him. Scanning his eyes lower he saw where the structural weak points would be and smirked, pulling his head back down a second before blaster fire erupted sending small pieces of rubble raining down on them.
"Tommy can smoke that building with at least one rocket a quarter of the way up."
Unloading a meter long tube from his back, Tommy smiled as he prepped it quickly and yelled above the sound of fire.
"Hit the walls boys!"
Standing up and in a second acquiring his target, he pressed down on the trigger and a loud bang erupted as a blue rocket shot forth at the blink of an eye. A second later the second tower exploded as the rocket hit it's mark, sending huge chunks of rubble flew into the sky and the tower began to collapse. Screams could be heard fore a few seconds then it was deathly quiet. Marcus called over the net to Odi trying to hold back his excitement.
::Odi, this is Marcus. Tower One is secure and Tower Two is rubble. The two towers were too spaced to be effective, so we neutralized the second. We have clear view now of the village. Be advised enemy fighters are grouping in the village center about to move to us. Hurry up and change their minds.::

Odi and Team One maneuvered their speeder towards the north end of the village. He didn't like this mission from the start. A high ridge line was at the back of the village. The imagery was so terrible it was unable to accurately show the ridge, he had no idea it was would be higher than the towers. These raiders were not the usual bunch that Odi's Renegades normally faced. He expected the towers to be manned with their best shooters. So far the casualties were only a dozen enemy fighters. It was almost as if they had known and prepared for the attack Odi and his men initiated.
Throughout his career, he'd been given numerous "cleansing" missions. Move in and level whatever resistance there was, burn the city or village, and move out. But this was different. He never would think his Organization would take a job with little to no intelligence on what they were to encounter. He wasn't even sure what artifact or equipment he was looking for. Every second this mission went by felt more and more like an old cleansing mission. Someone didn't want these Tusken Raiders here anymore.
Odi's transmitter came to life as he heard Marcus' voice with his update. Hearing that a tower was secured and the second was destroyed gave him some relief, at least his men were still ok, but again a feeling in the back of his mind told him something was wrong.
::Marcus, this is Odi. Engage elevated targets of opportunity and watch the ridge line for enemy snipers. None of this seems right, they are too well prepared for this attack and those towers were too lightly defended. Team One is entering the village, eyes open boys.::
Cutting his transmission, Odi nodded to the pilot and brought his own rifle up as the speeder screeched to a halt just within the village. Hoping out quickly Odi's team moved behind him in a wedge pattern. They moved down the pathway into the heart of the village. Initiating contact with the enemy would draw them away from Team Two and the towers. He needed to split the fighters up if Marcus' reports were accurate.

Blaster fired erupted as he rounded a corner. Tusken Long Rifles ripped through the mudwalls of the huts that gave little cover to Team One. Jay pied out around the corner and started to open up with his rifle, laying supressive fire on an enemy fighter, located on top of a mud hut roof. With the fighter's head down behind cover, Ross was able to duck under Jay's rifle and pull his scope up on his sniper rifle and take aim at the area Jay was shooting at. Utilizing a high man, low man maneuver allowed the low man to take a precise shot, while the high man kept suppressive fire up until ready.
Jay backed off and regained cover, while Ross waited. A moment passed before the Raider raised his head to return fire, but only saw the flash of Ross' barrel, as a well aimed shot took him in the eye. Returning to cover Ross gave the thumbs up to Odi and the team moved out and continued to the village's center.
A group of Tusken fighters made their way utilitizing cover from the mud hut's towards Tower One, where Team Two resided. Matt continued to fired well aimed shots to lower their numbers, but where one fell two more maneuvered from a different side. Marcus' concern grew as he tried to shake the feeling that Odi was right. The Tusken Raiders they were facing were not only prepared but they were trained. They continued to figher the Raiders and tried to push them back from taking more ground towards the Tower.
Meanwhile, Team One rounded another corner and stopped shortly as Odi raised his hand in the halt signal. Peeking out from behind a mud hut, Odi saw his worse fear.

Personnel and aircraft radars. This was how they knew the Renegades were coming. A strong feeling of danger hit Odi like a speeder in his mind, and he ducked as a blaster round whizzed past his head to strike a hut. Odi brought his rifle up and started to unleash hell. Raiders were know focused on Team One. Team Two opened up from the towers, taking out key targets of opportunity, giving Team One time to regroup.
::All Renegades, This is Renegade Six, be advised Enemy forces had land and air radar capabilities. We are going to do this fast, we will have two gun runs from CAS and take out those radars. That's what we came for. Break. Falcon 2-1 this is Renegade Six. We need two strafing runs. Will mark target with smoke, be advised Danger Close.::
Odi quickly ducked and rolled from behind cover while an explosion took his previous cover, sending rubble through the air. Scrambling up and running to the next hut, Odi caught a quick glimpse of where the enemy was firing from and saw his opportunity.

Grabbing a smoke grenade from his pouch, Odi look over to his teammates and nodded as he took a step to the side and leaned out the side of the hut. Team One opened fired and sprayed blaster rounds, making the enemy duck behind cover as the rounds and smoke grenade landed near the village center. Gas sprayed out from the canister, a thick blue cloud and thickened leaving all caught in it blind behind the smoke. The communicator came to life as the Close Air Support radioed in.
::Renegade Six this is Falcon 2-1, we've got blue smoke, confirm target is marked with blue smoke over.::
Odi responded over the communicator as thunder from above roared as the transports came from the sky.
::Falcon 2-1, good copy, target is marked with blue smoke. Bring the rain::

*As Ayren woke up his head began to hurt incredibly, he clutched it with both of his hands as he slowly sat up.* "Wha... where am I?" *Ayren looked and saw that the place he was in, was dimly lit, he slowly began to stand up, a sharp pain shot at his left side. He clutched it with his right hand, toppling over and almost falling to the floor, he let out a small cry.* "Wha... what happened to me?!" *He tried to remember, but all he was successful at was making his head pain more than it already was. He moaned as he slowly stood up. As his senses finally were at bay, he took another look at his surroundings, noticing that the room was carved out of stone, and was lit by six torches. Behind him were some panels, to what they controlled, to which he had no knowledge of. Confused as to where he was, he turned to his left and noticed on the other side of this, roughly 6'x6', room were three cages, the middle looked like it had
exploded. As he went over to examine it more closely, his foot hit something that was on the floor. He looked down and saw that there were several singed bodies (five) at his feet, burned so extreme that they were unrecognizable to even see what species they were. Ayren's eyes widened as this made him remember what happened.*~FlashBack~"This cage can't hold me." *Ayren was in the middle cage talking to a being that had is back toward him. There were seven other being's that Ayren had never seen before. The being that was in front of him turned around sharply and hit the cage startling Ayren.* "You think you're SO powerful, since we captured you so easily, you clearly are not as powerful as you think, so yes, the cage will hold." *The being smirked and turned back around, and then walked away further into the small room.* "Then you are a fool, you don't know who you're dealing with." *Ayren said that softly, he then spread his legs apart and held his arms to the side in fists, a few seconds later let out a massive Force Repulse, incinerating the three beings that were closest to his cage, blasting the cage door away, and pushing the others against the wall and then to the floor. He walked out of the cage and set his gauntlets to the pyrokinetic setting, and shot massive fireballs at the other five beings making them scream in pain and die, and then baking them to a crisp. That was when he lost consciousness.*~Present~'I did this?' *Still not knowing how he got here, he was about to press his wrist communicator when he noticed that it was missing. Surprised and confused he looked for his other gear that was supposed to be on him, but his lightsabers and grappling gun were gone too.* "Great. I can't even tell Sayjar to come and get me out of..." *He looked around again still confused.* "wherever the hell I am. But at least for the time being I've got these. *Ayren adjusted his gauntlets and looked around the room, finding a door leading to somewhere.* "At least it's a start. I may not know where I am, but anywhere's better than here." *Ayren walked over the singed bodies and over to the door, he slid it open and looked out. Torches illuminated the outside.* 'A stone tunnel? Now I really have no idea where I am.' *Ayren harnessed the Force and concealed himself in it making him invisible, to the eye and the force.* 'I might as well start this way.' *He walked down the hallway, the direction to the right of the room he was in.*

The Elder had been battling the keep the Machine at bay for days. His robes were torn and singed, and the palms of his gloves had been completely burned off, exposing his hands to the bone. The only reason he was alive was because of the power bonding with Tatooine had given him, and his force of will. The machine was resting after their most recent fight. He had a few moments of rest to regain his energy, and then he felt something...no...someone. He opened his eyes, and screamed at the pain the light of the Machine tore through him. He had little time left.
Throwing up a force barrier to protect himself, he sent himself to where he had felt the person, or at least a part of his mind. A shadow of himself moved throughout the tunnels the Dark Possessed had created thousands of years ago, searching....
-The Elder- "Are you still alive?"

*Ayren continued down the stone passageways cloaked in the force, searching room after room for something that would at least give him a clue as to where he was* 'Where the hell am I?' *Reaching out with the Force he tried to call out to Sayjar.* <<Sek... Sek if you can hear me I'm in a tunnel system who knows where.... Sek, please come try to find me.>> 'If he does find me... I'll owe him big time.' *He wandered aimlessly down the endless tunnels, looking to find an exit.*

His shadow moved through the tunnels, searching for the one he had felt before. He tried calling out again, the voice he created through the Force echoing through the tunnels, as well as the Current of the Force.
-The Elder- "Can you hear me? Are you there?"
His search was becoming obsession. He could sense....someone...but he was taking too much time. Time he did not have. While part of his consciousness was here he could feel his physical body burning, barely holding back the onslaught of the Machine, and its Dark Possessed.

*Ayren glanced in each passing room, still and so forth cloaked in the Force, only to find them all the same. Eight mysterious beings that the species was unknown to him. He passed by one room that was different from all the rest, thinking ahead of time that it was the same as all the others. But then he noticed something that was odd, that's when Ayren walked back silently into that room. Unlike the other rooms, this one completely baron of life, he walked in closer and saw a strange statue that looked like someone he knew. Confused, he examined it more closely, that's when he realized who the statue was.* "Jakob?" *Shocked to see a statue of his long dead brother here, he became concerned as to wherever he was. He hugged the statue.* 'I miss you brother.' *As he hugged the statue he felt a strange panel on the backside, he pushed the panel and it slid open. I lightsaber was inside, he looked at it and realized it was Jakob's. Ayren became even more confused, just then he heard someone coming down the tunnel system from inside the room. He attached his brother's lightsaber onto his belt and left the room as quickly and silently as he came in. Cloaked in the Force, he dared looked behind him, indeed someone was coming. An old man, but he dared not speak, or sound with step. He raced the man, and able to evade him as he stopped and slowly pressed against the wall, having the old man walk past. As a master of Stealth, Ayren would be not sensed within the Force or seen by eye unless he allowed it.*

The Elder's shadow paused, looking around. He looked down at his doppleganger form and shook his head. Maybe he had just heard something? A trick by the Dark Machine, to draw his attention, to make him weak at the effort? He was not that far gone...yet...His shadow evaporated into a ball of light which raced through the tunnels back to the main chamber, where his body was still battling with the Machine, trying to keep it at bay.
The Elder breathed deeply with his physical lungs, and lashed out with a Force push, sending the dozen Dark Possessed surrounding him into the walls of the chamber. He began chanting in the Kumumgah language, the ancient tongue of the Tusken Ancestors, calling upon their words of power to aid him. Lightning came from his hands and he aimed it at the creatures stupid enough to stand back up and advance on him, turning them to ash from the sheer amount of power he was channeling. His voice echoed through the chamber, and it only grew louder as he felt the Force course through his old body. The battle continued.

After having spent a long time searching for the right cave in the damn mountain he had been searching Anven was confident he found the one that would lead him towards the Elder and so was running as fast as his legs would carry him. The darkness of the cave only grew as he sped threw it deeper and deeper he went far below the ground now the force being his guide through the tunnels it leading him to the slowly weakening presence of the Elder amongst the great darkness that came from within. He was getting close now just a bit farther he continued to tell himself as pushed himself harder and harder to get to the Elder to make sure the old man was still well alive he did not want to fail his clan in letting the old man die.
The end of the tunnel came so suddenly as he had not been all to aware of just how fast he was running causing him to come to sliding stop as what stood before deep on the wide opening the chamber he had burst into was a strange machine. A great darkness came from it giving it a forbearing presence and sent shivers down Anven’s spine though his mind never left the task at hand and so he only paid the machine a moments notice before his head began swinging from side to side as he looked for the Elder. It was not hard to spot the old man as he was chanting loud enough to cause an echo through the chamber course Anven did not understand a word that he was saying but he could feel the force flow through the old Elder so it must of been one of those mystical Tusken chants that he was doing.
It appeared Anven had been quite mistaken the old man was not wavering a bit and was holding strong which actually got a chuckle out of Anven from beneath his face mask that covered the lower part of his face. Still having finally found the Elder and seeing he was fighting a huge battle Anven couldn’t let him have all the fun and so he took his lightsaber out from beneath his cloak and ignited its fiery blade and charged into the fray of those stupid dark things that he had a strange feeling he had seen something like them before but he could worry about that later for now it was time for some classic hack and slashing.

*Just as Ayren heard the footsteps of the oncoming being, they just suddenly stopped, as if the being had figured out he was there. He kept his head to the right and after a few seconds, Ayren quickly looked to his left, and noticed that there was no one there.* 'Is my mind playing tricks on me?' *Ayren looked around.* 'Or... is it this place. It feels..... odd, here.' *Then Ayren felt a cold surge go down his spine, and looked behind him. Though no being was there, he felt something stirring in the darkness.* 'I have a bad feeling about this.... It doesn't feel right here.... I need to leave, immediately.' *Ayren raced silently down the tunnel, trying to find an exit as fast as he possibly could.*

The Elder threw up another force barrier to block off several of the Dark Possessed, keeping them at bay while his chants grew louder, and he reached his hand to the ceiling. Stalactites shook from the chamber ceiling and fell to the ground, guided by his hand to strike the machine. He turned when he heard someone else enter the chamber. He could not believe his eyes when he saw Anven Firestar, an ally of the R'Crurak. His focus wavered and he called out to the young man.
-The Elder- "Anven? What are you doing here? It's dangerous! Get out while you can!"
His concern for Anven, a life that had nothing to do with this battle, have shifted his focus, his barrier fell, and one of the Dark Possessed was able to break through. The Elder turned his attention back to the barrier, but it was too late. The Dark Possessed ran up and jabbed its dark arm into the Elder's chest. There was no physical wound, it had simply phased through his flesh into his body. The Elder struggled to breath, and fought to get the demon off of him. The barrier weakened further, letting the others trapped behind it break free. Grabbing the arm of the Dark Possessed in him, he yanked it out, and flung the creature towards the far wall. The Elder clasped his chest. There was no blood, no gaping hole, and yet he seemed injured.
The Elder began chanting softly, his hands glowing, healing himself as best he could from whatever wound the creature had inflicted. He jumped back closer to Anven, throwing up a barrier around the two for temporary cover.
-The Elder- "I do not know how you found me, Anven, but you must leave. You have no idea what is going on! The fate of Tatooine, the Universe!, is at stake. I am the only one who can stop it!"
