*No mere pilgrim, but a "geological surveyor" with a childhood dream of seeing the Crystal Caves of Ilum. Certainly a little more believable, but that only threw the potential blindness into question once more. Or, in fact, his entire career; not that one couldn't go blind later in life, yet Aerandir could not help but find this all suspicious. Were this anywhere but Ilum, he might not have had a second thought, but being this far removed from the galaxy, this deep into First Order territory, and to such a guarded place...
There was a third figure approaching, seeming to be outfitted in some sort of armor beneath a robe. Maybe it was this figure's guide? His eyes returned to the elderly man as he gave him a peculiar warning: That "predator's eyes" were upon him.
If he hadn't reason to be suspicious before, this was definitely it.
The third figure had finally closed the distance, stopping beside both of them and commenting that they were in his way. Aerandir only briefly regarded him with a frown before glancing around, as though silently indicating there was plenty of room to walk by them, then looked at the elderly figure again.* "I'm aware. They don't frighten me." *"It should be the other way around," he thought to himself.* "Thanks for the advice, but I worry more about you. I hope you don't find yourself caught up in the galaxy's storm."
*Even so, his mind was cast into serious doubt regarding this strange man. A blind geological surveyor who somehow recognized Aerandir as a Jedi and knew that he was being watched? Either this man had been privy to key knowledge or there was something off about his disguise. It wasn't beyond reason that he was only recently blinded and had the touch of the Force to guide him as a replacement for sight, but recognizing him... That was what drew the most suspicion.*

Do not worry about me, for at my age, fate has already assigned me my end. It has yet to be determined what or when, but I have accepted nonetheless.
The aged man, laughing to himself, plainly, would pick up his walking stick and rise from his spot. His withered hands placing the crystal in his hands gently into his thick cloak. The milky eyes of this elder would glance momentarily at the newcomer. He had not even been in the way himself, having sat idly to the side upon a crystal formation. Without much regard beyond a glance, the old man looks once more in the general direction of Aerandir.
You should still be worried about what the galaxy's storm is hiding, Master Jedi. For with the drums of war come the plagues that leak from the wounds of battle and fester among the dying hope. Despair is their breeding grounds and darkness is their abode. For it is they, who are unknown, that frighten the galaxy.
Without another word, the stranger buries his face into the thick cloak before hobbling away. Even from a distance, the old man could be heard talking to himself as he ventures deeper into the caves. As he rambled and raved to himself quietly, one might wonder if his words were of great wisdom or of deteriorating madness. The echoes of his voice fading instantly as he disappears down an adjacent tunnel, vanishing from plain sight.

*The elderly man seemed none too concerned about his own fate, citing his advanced age and his own acceptance of whatever his end may be. Respectable... if honest. The man then stood, again making a cryptic warning, this time about what was hidden; something "unknown."
And then he simply left in silence. Aerandir watched him disappear, tempted to see just where he was going or ask for more information. The entire conversation felt like something out of a children's story, carrying a similar foreboding mood. Aerandir decided this was no mere geologist; he was some kind of spy or agent. In this territory? Incredibly likely he belonged to the First Order. Possibly a bid to induce scare tactics. Nevertheless, he wasn't afraid; his mind was forward, to where Ashla may lead him in order to strengthen himself against the darkness.
He gave the third figure that had entered another glance; with the other man gone, Aerandir could now process his odd statement that they had apparently been in his way, despite the available wide berth. He didn't recognize the figure at all, but if he was just an obstacle, then so be it.* "Pardon me," *he ironically echoed, walking right past him back out into the cold, readjusting his headgear as he did so.
The question was... where to next? There were many options: Wellsprings of the Force and points of historical interest to the Jedi, both. Before all that, he needed to get to his ship and leave this planet... then make a stopover in neutral space in order to ensure he was not being tracked and would be able to send an encoded message to home and the Alliance, requesting they run a scan of their equipment to ensure there wasn't any funny business.
He did at least give his ship a once-over to ensure it hadn't been sabotaged before he entered it and lifted off from the frozen surface of Ilum, heading up into space. Last he'd heard, something had gone down at the Coruscant Temple, forcing its two survivors of its already-dwindled staff to evacuate.
Perhaps it was finally time to follow up on that...*

Once Aerandir was far away, the elderly man's disguise faded away, replaced by the imposing and cloaked figure of Darth Malvus. The red-skinned Sith would walk off towards a side entry of the crystal caves, the same entry he used to enter the network of tunnels. Malvus pauses for a moment, hearing the echo of an engine as he felt the Jedi Master launch into Ilum's orbit. His eyes watched the ship pierce the clouds and vanish from sight. The Sith Lord then left the tunnels, trudging through the fallen snow to his own hidden starfighter. As he begins to activate the vessel, the Sith examines a holomap of the galaxy upon his ship's console.
If I were a Jedi, where would I go...
The Sith Lord examines the holomap quietly, reviewing obvious places first before trying to connect some dots from what he had gathered with this encounter with the Jedi Master, Aerandir. If he were a Jedi, where would he go next, though Malvus, as his eyes scanned the holomap. His gloved hand then keys the holomap to close, thinking he would need to meditate upon his thoughts.
His ship would flare to life, launching moments after the Sith Lord put the coordinates in for his destination. Malvus retreats to his chambers to meditate upon where he needed to go next. Surely the Force would tell him something or give the Sith a hint as to where he should go. The vessel ascended into the air as Malvus plunged himself into a deep meditation.

On Illum, a very strange operation was taking place. Many mining droids, AT-ACTs, Occupier Tanks, and HAWV Juggernauts had been brought to the planet. The mining droids swarmed through the tunnels, beginning to carefully extract Kyber Crystals. Not wanting to damage their prize, the crystals were harvested carefully and put in Kyber Containers, which were then transported to the surface. With the containers loaded onto the Repulsortanks, they traveled to predetermined locations and left their cargos, which wee picked up by AT-ACTs. For the last leg of the ground trip, they were transported to a shuttle port that had been erected, where they were loaded onto shuttles for transport to Csilla.

"If you can visit all the worlds you may wish, what do you have to gain by dragging me along?" She reiterated the earlier question from the other, demanding an answer, but also seeking another -- why her, out of all of the other beings in the galaxy? Despite all she could feel exuding from these two birds of shadow, that was the one thing that remained the mystery. She figured it was solely boredom of sorts, the need for a plaything. If she could twist this to her own benefit, though, she would calculate a way. Somehow. As they approached the Caves, the woman started to make sense more as to where these two had dropped them off. The view that opened up within the icy fog caught her attention, muffling any lingering cawing or squawking by the two who dragged her here. The illustrious Crystal Caves of Ilum.
Perhaps she could make this a journey worth her inconvenience. Muninn hopped along the top of the snow that had drifted into the entrance of the temple complex.
<<Perspective.>>
As the drifts turned to wisps of snow, Muninn jumped up into the air. Shadows came up to meet his form and collapsed into a gray-brown robe over the nearly two-meter-tall figure. His long black beak protruded out from the shadow of his hood, and he turned his head slightly toward the woman as he spoke, his beak barely cracked open, but no sound came from it.
<<Omnipresence is both a gift and a curse as it removes a certain required je ne sais quoi that the old man wants in his stories.>>
He turned a corner past the entrance to a small encampment in a side room. Huginn, whose form looked much like his brother's though his robes were tinged with blue rather than brown, knelt beside a blue-green fire he was tending. Its warmth was greater than its size should have let on. The ring of rocks around the flame contained the absence of visible fuel that was driving the licks of fire.
Huginn looked up at the two as they entered, black eyes hidden by the shadow of his own hood reflected the blue-green fire.
<<Ana was here, Muninn. Watch yourself.>>
Muninn looked over at the woman who stood beside him.
<<My brother, Huginn, speaks of the warrior Goddess who served this universe much like the old one we serve. We may be powerful, but there are those whose might is beyond even our own comprehension.>>
He looked back at the fire and walked over.
<<And she is one we maintain a reverent fear of.>>
The two brothers sighed deeply almost in unison as they crouched before the flame. Beside Huginn were Mariah's belongings she had in the cavern on Sullust, arranged exactly as she had left them.
<<But yes, to answer your question, we were asked to offer you an opportunity, and we needed a story to tell the old man. This would serve the purpose of killing two birds with one stone.>>
Huginn clicked his beak and huffed in amusement.
<<So you will give us the perspective that we currently lack. You see our last charge has left this galaxy and we have been trying to fill his proverbial shoes.>>
He motioned toward the flame with a wing from under his gray-brown robe.
<<We will warm ourselves for a moment and then proceed into the caverns.>>
<<Not that we need the warmth, this is for you>>
Muninn nodded and shrugged

Mariah walked next to Muninn as he hopped, leading them into the Crystal Caves. As the shadows coalesced over him, rising his figure to now stand taller than her, her narrowed gaze flickered over him in disbelief. Not only that, the ravens spoke with cryptic words that drew the attention of the crimson haired woman, usually stoic and reserved. They spoke of gods and goddesses and displayed magics she had never witnessed before. It intrigued her, and her earlier desires to silence them were now like a distant memory.
The moment her eyes were upon her belongings on Sullust, however, she tended to them with haste yet care. Two shoto sabers, twin curved hilt sabers, and six athames. Their mysterious reappearance was act of the ravens, she was sure. The only sense she could make of it was that this was another vision within her meditation. If it was, it was one of the more elaborate and intricate workings of the Force; she could define the line which separated those worlds of her mind and reality. This was too authentic to be a vision. Even if she couldn’t make sense of these beings which snatched her along -- to create another story for the old man, as they revealed -- she would need to treat it as her current reality.
Turning her attention to the fire, Mariah was grateful for it, even if she would not speak of this. The flicker of the blue green flames danced within her crimson eyes with their ethereal hues. Despite the warm clothes, the bitter chill of Ilum froze her to the bone. That, and the fire's unnatural warmth was something she could at least put into tangible thoughts. Magic was something she was no stranger to, even if the ravens’ source was something beyond her understanding. At the very least, the display was something she was more than familiar with.
For all this time, she had remained silent. For all they displayed, she appeared to be taking it all in rather well, possibly in comparison to those they may have approached in the past. Unless they chose her for that reason. Omnipresence, as the raven had mentioned. Despite its immeasurable nature, the word could only have a finite amount of meaning to her in comparison. All she could do was continue on with assumptions that would not serve her well.
She couldn’t help but scoff, though, as the mischievous one’s voice played about in her mind. ‘Not that we need the warmth'. “Don't hold up your adventure on my behalf,” she murmured.
Mariah took just another spare moment within the flame’s warmth before turning from it, to face deeper into the caverns. From within, she could feel it. The radiating Force overflowing from this place. She would need to tread carefully, especially in the presence of these two. A prick against her mind warned her of the possible clashing, should she lose grip her tightly woven veil over her aura. As she pushed deeper into the Force, deeper into the caverns, there was something more that weighed on her mind. Something even colder, a network of something lurking within. She had heard the stories of the valuable crystals which lied in wait here. No doubt, others had, too. While these ravens had the benefit of omnipresence, she was still mortal, bound to this single path, this sole span of life. She would need to tread carefully for more reasons now than just the ravens.
After all that was said, revealed, and requested, several questions surfaced over all the others, making themselves coherent thoughts. She allowed only one to make itself known.
...and what shall be my fate, if I were to refuse to give you the perspective you currently lack?
Her question echoed in Muninn’s head alone, like whispered ghosts of his own words. She wondered, though, would the other, too, hear it? Her gaze glanced over at the other tall figure, clad in blue. Despite the nature of her question, she took a step deeper into the caverns and awaited the one to answer, both to guide the way. This would be their story they sought to tell the old man, after all.

The brothers stood as Mariah stowed her gear, and the fire collapsed into three small orbs of intense white light that glided over and hovered over the right shoulders of Mariah, Muninn, and Huginn. It floated just behind their heads as to not blind their peripheral vision, yet it was intense enough to provide area illumination.
At her beckoning, Huginn headed down the nearby passageway, his wings folded behind him.
<<You don’t need any of that down here, just so you know...>>
Muninn lingered back with Mariah, only moving forward when she did. His response was calm and warm.
<<My dear, I am afraid you have little choice in the matter because intentionally or unintentionally, you will provide us what we need. However,>>
He stopped and placed a feathered wing on her shoulder. The long primary feathers on the ends of his wings were oddly thick, and somewhat prehensile thanks to his manipulation of the Force. It wrapped over Maria's shoulder as a comfort.
<<I will grant you one thing. If you wish to return to Sullust at any time, you may. Just simply will it and you will be back on your own accord. We will not hold you against your will from here out. This doesn’t have to be any more of a vision than you want it to be.>>
He released her, and the two continued down the passageway. He knew her interest was piqued now, giving her an out would relieve tension and help her act more freely. Her emotions were showing interest, and her educational upbringing gave her insight into the value of Ilum. Her gift today would be more than a few simple crystals though, and Muninn smiled inwardly.
As they traversed the crystalline structures around them, their lights revealed thousands of years of traveler's footsteps and hand prints. The tiny Kyber crystals shone against the intensely bright lights. Huginn, just ahead and out of sight - though his light gave his position away - spoke jovially.
<<You know, Mariah, you would make for a wonderful Jedi hermit, as cold and stoic as you are. Thus far we have flung you across the galaxy, had you plummeting through thousands of feet into a snow drift, and the most reaction we got out of you is a moment where you thought you could cut us down with your saber which quickly passed. I have to admit; I was a little disappointed in myself as I was really hoping for a little rise out of you.>>
Muninn, by Mariah's side, if just a step behind her, spoke softly.
<<Huginn likes to get reactions out of people. Though so do I. However, I suppose I am far less disappointed in this instance than he is. Let us hope he minds himself up there.>>
There was a large gap in the pathway. A fissure dozens of meters across, and a thought-provoking depth whose boundary was lost to the darkness. Muninn offered to help Mariah across, but she shook her head and took a running leap across the chasm. She looked back to where Muninn was, but he appeared next to her.
<<I give it a nine point five out of ten. You wobbled a little there at the landing.>>
He continued on behind her again as they proceeded deeper into the cavern. It was a lengthy walk down corridors whose space left little in the way of maneuvering at times. Mariah's size was perfect for fitting in the tighter places, but the brothers were having to duck and weave around.
Eventually, their path was blocked with a massive fallen stone covered in a pile of rubble. The two brothers waited at the base for a moment before climbing up, with Mariah in the middle of the pack. Huginn reached the top of the pile first and stood to look around. Muninn carefully climbed just behind Mariah and was looking down at his footing when she stepped on an unstable boulder. It shifted and slid off the pile sending her along with it. She was quick to react and was about to steady herself when she was caught in a light cradle like grip.
Huginn pulled her deftly to the top of the pile and set her down, never once looking down the back side of the pile where they came from.
<<Just know that as long as you remain our charge, you have our protection too.>>
Huginn jumped off, followed closely by Mariah. Muninn gave up climbing and appeared behind the two as they made their way down the corridor.
<<He is right. We can't afford to lose you.>>
<<We could, but it would be mighty troublesome.>>
<<He can be lazy.>>
<<That's not untrue. It would be annoying to have to locate another new charge to pester. Not like there are any others in this galaxy who- Oh, we're here.>>
He stopped at the entrance of a natural vaulted atrium. Utterly massive crystals hung from the ceiling, illuminated by the three lights over their shoulders. The lights ascended and dispersed into the crystals, turning them into enormous fixtures of illuminance. Water dripped from the ceiling into several crystalline pools.
There was a figure in the center of the room. Slender, petite, black hair that was cropped short and tipped in ultramarine. She stood a little over five feet tall and was clothed in a tight-fitting Stillsuit that covered her from neck to wrists to the light boots on her feet.
She was facing away from the group as she stood there swaying gently with her hands to her sides. Her right hand brushed a saber hilt that had a familiar shape. Its gunmetal exterior was accented with case-hardened blued durasteel with a single sapphire at the base of the hilt.
Her silhouette was familiar, but it was the strange tune she was humming that made it. The voice, tone, the inflections therein were unmistakable. She turned to face the group, her cerulean eyes lit up, her blue lips curled into a slight smile, and her demeanor became unguarded in happiness.
"Hello, Mariah."
The blue Mariah clone began sauntering over to the three, arms outstretched by her sides, hands open and palms up as an intention of goodwill and trust.
The brothers stepped back from Mariah, winged arms folded behind their backs.

Mariah paused for just a moment to study the white light when it first levitated over her shoulder. She craned her neck away from it for a moment, her left hand stretching as if preparing for the need to reach for her saber. It was more of a silent mental note she made in her head, however, and she continued forward with quiet footsteps, two to each of the raven’s one. Her short stature and attempts at silence demanded a quicker pace.
If I wouldn't need them, then perhaps you should've left them at Sullust for my return.
Her narrowed gaze glanced over the blue robed brother as she stated this, now using their common form of communication. When the other brother offered a way to return so soon, though, her gaze fell forward, deeper into the cave. She had nearly started to duck away the moment she could feel the shadow of his wings and its weight upon her shoulder. It resulted in a moment of a trained, guarded stance for but that split moment, as if she was ready to go on the offensive so quickly yet again before a gentle reminder halted her attempts.
So this is a vision? she asked the brown-robed raven. Intriguing...
Visions were as visions were, and there was always something to learn within them. However, the intended attempts to relieve any lingering tension was to no avail -- but that, the ravens would learn, was just a matter of her own upbringing. Her ever guarded nature was just another discipline taught, like the knowledge of these caves and the value of Ilum was taught. She was both the predator and the prey, swirling as seamlessly as oil and water. Tension was just a consequence. Even with the offer of her control to leave, however, her figure remained.
Her crimson gaze looked over the crystals which naturally lined the walls. Within the actual silence of this place, the softest of hums resonated within the woman. Without missing a step, she reached out a hand, weaving the Force to carefully break off a protruding crystal and guide it towards her. Among all those she could have taken during this venture, she had chosen only that one. Visions were as visions were, but if these two were as strong in their own magics as they so clearly were, if they wished her to have such things, it would be so. A matter within their own wings.
Despite Huginn’s attempt to get an emotional rise out of the woman -- and Muninn’s explanation of such -- she left nothing on the surface to be read. Her presence carried something close to dry amusement, though, her anger now nonexistent. If this was a vision, she would treat them both as others within her past visions -- as Guides within the unfolding lesson. She said nothing, offered nothing, and let his words echo into nothingness within the Force. Calling her a perfect Jedi hermit held its truth where it was due.
The cavern paths continued, Mariah making her leaps and bounds as effortlessly and gracefully as any mortal could. Muninn at least offered his own little quip, to which she acknowledged with a glance over towards him and the slightest of shrugs of her shoulder. It would only be that matter of time, though, before the caverns would seek her demise. While she had planned for it, the blue robed raven scooped her up and pulled her the rest of the way to the top of the pile. She looked over him scrupulously the moment her feet were steadied on the rock, but with a minimal nod of her head, she offered him at least a silent thankful gesture to his cryptic action in helping her. At least they explained his reasons, somewhat.
She had nearly lost the sense of where they were in the ravens’ bantering back and forth. With the smooth transition, the Force thickening minutely with each step onward, Mariah hadn’t noticed the weight which pushed down on her physically and mentally. When the caverns opened up, Mariah could feel the pure rush of the Force. It nearly choked her, although she still stood tall, unwavering. If the ravens had assumed she was tense before, it was nothing like now. The reveal of the blue clone only made matter worse.
She hummed a familiar tune, something that Mariah recognized in part. It carried some sense of familiarity to each inflection, each interval, yet something was off about the melody. It wasn’t until she turned around that Mariah recognized that song, twisted and manipulated from its gentle lament to this idyllic cheer. Her jaw locked. The brothers stepped back.
Like all visions, there was something to learn from. Most lessons, though, would come from triumph.
Instinctively, Mariah summoned forth not Nihilo, as she had upon her arrival, but rather, beckoned her two shoto sabers to her hands. The moment she gripped the gold and silver hilts, however, Huginn’s earlier words screamed in her mind with a thousand dissonant voices. ‘You won’t need any of that down here.’ She paused, although her hesitance was from the sheer volume of this verbal memory.
Through gritted teeth, she watched the woman with a trained gaze, as if prepared for this blue, disgustingly happy version of herself to suddenly shift to the demon she was ready to face. She had heard of the tales and warnings of those who ventured too far into these caves. The darkness they would face. So what would darkness face? Darkness was but the absence of light, and thus, the vision -- at least in her mortal mind -- could start to make sense. However, she knew better than to trust her own mortal understanding when it came to these things.
She reached out to the other two, which had stepped back and left her to deal with this on her own.
What is this?
Her tones demanded an answer from either of them. If there was supposed to be a lesson of peace somehow wrapped in this sickening vision which approached her, she combated it with a dual violent hum, twin purple blades making themselves known in wait. It was only Huginn’s earlier words that held her back for but this moment for their answer. If one was not given, her fury would reign down on this mockery of herself. Yet she wanted to also hear another answer aloud, another reason to strike this clone down where she stood.
“...and who are you?”

Blue Mariah took several more steps before slowing her pace and stopping about twenty feet from Mariah. Her happy smile faded into confusion as she tilted her head to the side.
Moments passed like minutes as the cave was filled with the sound of the buzz of the sabers and the slow dripping of the melting icepack some unknown distance above them. water that had not seen an open space in a millennium now suddenly fell into an awaiting pool. There was little difference now.
Blue let her head fall forward, and she let out a single sharp exhale. Her arms fell to her sides, slapping her thighs. A slight laugh maybe? She shook her head then threw it back in a fit of true laughter.
"And who am I? What, never looked in a mirror before?"
Her voice was jovial and sarcastic, seemingly unaware of the intentions of her red-haired counterpart. She held her stomach as her laughter descended into a fit of giggles and she shook her head again before slowly marching forward once again.
"I am Mariah as well, Red."
Her eyes were still that of kindness and sincerity, but there was a deep sorrow in them; almost a recent change that reflected only in the cerulean irises. She smiled and bit her lip, as she stepped between the two burning blades, arms outstretched, before Mariah. There was tension as Blue was unsure how her counterpart would react. Guarded, sure, but hostile?
Fear was an emotion she was not familiar with, but fear was in the air.
Neither of the brothers responded to Mariah. Neither could be felt in presence or absence, but they watched and wondered. Muninn looked over at his brother and spoke only to him.
What actually did you do, dear brother?
Huginn looked forward, hunched over and unmoving.
Why does it always have to be me that does something?
The two brothers looked onward, intrigued and curious as to the outcome of the meetup of the opposite Mariah’s. While one leaned more on the dark side of the Force, the other was more on the light. Neither were inherently right or wrong, but the outcome of the next few moments could prove to be enlightening for everyone involved.
Huginn looked at his brother and clicked his beak.
Is Red going to try and attack Blue? Is she going to try and kill her?
Why would she do that?
Look at her. Red looks like a trapped animal ready to tear apart anything that comes near her, and now she is standing toe to toe with herself. I wonder what Blue thinks of all of this?
Fear. She is one step closer to the edge, and she is about to break.
Yes, but in the end, does it even matter?
The two brothers looked at one another and laughed.
But really though, Muninn, what is going to happen?
I don’t know. It’s all on Red here and what Rebekah feels is appropriate for the situation.
The two turn and look inquisitively.

It wasn't the fit of laughter that pushed Mariah -- the real one -- over the edge, even if the bright giggles didn't help Blue much in her case to win her over. Even reiterating her name, speaking as though they were one in the same, wasn't enough to push Mariah to send her first flurry of attacks towards the cerulean impostor. 'Red' was still receptive to whatever was to come from this vision, to learn whatever there was to learn from this blue counterpart, who was as different to her as the Shadows and the Light. What pushed Mariah over the edge, however, was the heavy feeling that clouded her vision in red, amplified by the nexus of Force energy.
"You dare mock me..."
It was the fear. To see a copy of her own self washed in fear, a useless emotion burned out of her so long ago... No matter what the ravens had said earlier about her weapons, how she wouldn’t need them, it held no weight now.
Mariah betrayed the final moment of stillness within her stance. With a controlled flick of the wrist, she shifted her right-handed shoto into a reverse grip. Her back foot stepped back into a balanced stance, her left shoto crossing over the front of her body at the ready. The Force seemed to listen to this single first step in her dance; the next, she lunged, her figure appearing like a blur to mortal eyes. If this... thing... was anything like her, though, she would be prepared for the oncoming onslaught.
With an upwards arc with her right-handed reverse grip, she hoped to draw Blue's own saber to defend. However, her left shoto was poised and at the ready to come reigning down to follow through...
She would cut down this frightened version of herself where it stood.

At Red's action, and upward swing, Blue flipped her hands and pushed, jumping back and out of the way of the swing and out of range of the other blade. She knew she was woefully unprepared for the fight, and she silently cursed the two brothers for talking her into leaving her more substantial gear back at the campsite.
As she ascended, hands in front of her as she continued the push away, she caught a glint of something that could help her increase her chances of defending herself. She began to quickly plot.
Red utilized the momentum of her swing to aim her hand at her opponent and push in an attempt to throw Blue off in her jump backward. The impact was almost instantaneous and sent Blue cartwheeling.
She impacted a massive hanging crystal, splaying her extremities across the surface. The rest of the force push from Red impacted the crystal and shattered, sending the woman and thousands of shards flying back.
Blue, with the wind knocked out of her, focused herself from the impact and looked up just in time to see Red coming at her with the violet blades burning in fury. Blue reached behind her and grasped the shards and flicked her wrist.
The sounds of supersonic popping reverberated in the cavern as a thousand projectiles raced toward Red.
Finally landing, she slid to a stop and Force sprinted to where Red landed. She clapped her hands in front of herself, sending another barrage of crystal shards flying towards her target once again. It was in this moment that she took to draw her own saber and it exploded to life just as it met her opponents’ blades.
The blade was the most brilliant of blues. With a white-hot core, the contrast on the edges looked as though it was pulled from the darkest, coldest ocean depths. The hum was dull, clean, and higher pitched than most other sabers. The edge was finely honed and occasionally crackled with minuscule strands of static. The air filled with the smell of ozone as the two women met face to face.
The impact of blue on violet blades sent debris tumbling away from their feet.
Blue pushed away with her blade and jumped back a distance; her saber grasped firmly in both hands in front of her core.
This is one intense vision, almost the most realistic one I have ever had. The impacts, the feels, the smells, it feels so real. I think I see what they are trying to show me here. I get it.
She reached out through the force and began to search her surroundings as she stared down her opponent.
I am just shocked at how real they made you look and feel.
-----
From another dimension, the brothers looked onward with curiosity. Huginn looked over at Muninn and then back to the fight before them.
You think we have to worry about Red Mariah there? When should we intervene?
I-
He was interrupted by a familiar voice.
I don’t think our Blue Mariah there is going to harm yours too much there.
Aye, she thinks this is just an elaborate vision.
Huginn and Muninn turned to find mirror images of themselves standing beside them looking onward. One was robed in burnt orange robes, while the other was cloaked in crimson red. They looked at their blue and brown-robed counterparts.
Though it seems Red down there is going all out on our poor fool, she may wind up being the only one to walk away from this encounter.
But do you want our Maria to kill yours?
The two in red and orange looked at the brothers, then one another shrugged, and continued watching the fight.
Huginn looked at Muninn
Are we going to let her murder her blue counterpart?
Muninn raised his wings to temple in front of his beak as he watched without a word.
All four of the tall robed ravens watched the mirrored opposites duel in the crystal caverns deep below the surface of Ilum.
-----
Blue was breathing deeply in the moments she had. She was uncertain of her next steps as the woman opposite of her had to truly be her equal. An antithesis of her own being, but one who was highlighting her weakness and failures: fear and anger.
Fear is the mind killer.
Red leaped at her, and she dodged to the side to be met with the incoming shrapnel of rocks and crystal. A force push formed a small barrier around her, and most of the larger pieces washed around her, with smaller fragments penetrating with an intense velocity that cut her suit and left bloody red streaks on her flesh.
She looked down and stifled the fear that was rising up in her once again. It had never really left, but the injuries, now minor, began to hint to her that this vision may be more real than she initially considered.
As she slid to a stop, having dashed to the side and out of the immediate reach of Red, leaped forward and swung to the sides. Left, right, left right, top, right, left, top. The blue blade was a blur of movement against the violet blades. These motions helped her to clear her head and focus. Her eyes caught that glint once again. She released her left hand from her blade and pulled it back behind her. Releasing a furious focused roar, she shoved forward toward Mariah with an intense push that was focused entirely on the woman's core but grasped at the glint, the tool that would help her defend her life.

Just as Mariah had predicted, this mirror of herself, while unequipped for such a fight, was still prepared as ever to face her opponent. Keeping Blue on the move was her primary goal at the moment, holding her back at an disadvantageous stage in the fight. It was still unknown if this inverted version carried any of the same knowledge or training, but Mariah needed to assume she could be just as quick, just as deadly. She was the one who started this battle, after all, and if she was pushed to that point, she would be the one to end it.
The supersonic boom reverberated within the cavern, heralding a thousand crystal knives to race towards her. There was nothing lethal Mariah could sense within the action; Blue was buying back the time Mariah tried to strip from her. The realization, though, shifted the fury of the crimson warrior to something perhaps more frightening: amusement. The slightest upwards twitch at the corners of her lips revealed, Mariah raced head on towards both barrage of crystals. Her body moving, twisting, and spinning effortlessly, she deflected those she couldn't avoid with graceful arcs of the violet blades. The heavy snow-suited clothing was not attire she was used to, which found itself being shred at the mercy of the projectiles; however, Mariah walked out of it unscathed. Seething from her hindered movements, but unscathed.
When the final crystal shard screamed passed her, Mariah's vision caught the blue glow of the other's blade. Her smile was all too quickly replaced with a scowl. She wasn't quick enough. Against herself, though, she expected as much. Nonetheless, she raced to close the gap, sending Blue sprawling back to regain her ground. Mariah needed to keep her on the defensive.
However, before she could send her next flood of attacks, Blue shifted their conversation, from one of clashing blades, to another of verbal words. In any other situation, Mariah would have used her pause against her opponent, but the moment she heard that word -- visions -- she could do nothing more than dig her back heel into the ground in preparation for her next barrage of attacks.
"What are those two birds up to..." she growled low to herself through clenched teeth.
This was assumed to be a vision. Not just to her. This obverse Mariah thought the same. Was this a trick? Or was she, too, here to learn something?
Fear is the mindkiller.
Mariah didn't need this information. This was a lesson long ago taught to her through one of the most vicious acts she could ever imagine. If it wasn't for her, though, then what more could it be than a mantra for this one's vision, for this one's lesson to take back with her when it was all said and done?
As if a flash of understanding washed over the crimson haired woman, she took the opportunity to truly put Blue in a position where fear would either break her, or she would overcome it and grow stronger through it. Another chain of attacks, effortlessly blocked, only to be met with her own barrage of crystal shards. Mariah, now, would continue to push the other without fail. Her own lesson in this, or so was her current interpretation, was laced in the building up of herself. To do that with another like Blue -- a version she at least viewed as weaker -- it would mean ripping out all that prevented that. Regardless of whether she was correct, Mariah was like a river within her visions, ever changing with her understanding of the lessons. For now, her aura shifted, and with it, the flicker of amusement returned. Her time in all of this would come. If the ravens could sense anything regarding this fight, her murderous impulses had been silenced for the time being.
With every swing of her saber, Mariah could feel Blue's concentration increasing, the initial fear which pushed Mariah to take that first offensive strike now washing away from her blue counterpart. However, with every blue arc of the other's saber, Mariah met it with effortless parries with her twin shotos. Mariah caught Blue's release of her saber and met it with a critical eye. Instinctively, the crimson version took a risk.
At the ready for Blue's onslaught of the Force, Mariah summoned a volley of phrik knives. One aimed for her left shoulder. Another for her right thigh. The third for the left hand that reached for the weapon at her hip. If Blue would succeed in gathering Nihilo, Mariah ensured it wouldn't be without some painful consequences.
Now, the focus was the momentum of the Force Push, Mariah tucked herself under and flipped herself around, her feet sliding across the cavern floors with a hiss. For now, she didn’t pay any mind to whether Nihilo was in Blue's grasp or not. Her focus was ripping her athames from where they landed, beckoning all three back to her with a backwards motion of her arms, where they would hover in a lethal warning over her. One over her left shoulder, another the right, the last over her head. All them pointed at the Blue and at the ready.
"Fear is the mindkiller."
Mariah reiterated that statement, now standing still in wait for the other to regain herself.
"Is that truly what you interpret learning in this vision? To release your fears? What is it you fear? Yourself?"
Her tone, her words, her expression as she looked over the other -- all were condescending in nature, an attempt to push this one forward even more. The roles, she deemed were now to be switched. If there was any fight left in Blue, Mariah would urge her forward to the offensive, Mariah to keep to the defensive.
"Do give me hope that I'm here for a greater reason than this. As it stands, my vision is teaching me nothing."
Her words cut like a knife, as sharp as those which hovered threateningly above her. A lie, but one this other didn't need to know. The smiling and giggling memories of her blue self moments ago haunted her; sight and sounds she would never be able to forget now. She cursed the two ravens for it. With both shoto sabers still in hand, she slowly approached Blue, step by steady step. She remained in wait for her words to be met with another onslaught from the other, damaged or not. Else, Mariah would find herself forcefully pushing Blue closer towards the edge of her darkest fears, whatever they may be.

The push hit, but the glint she was focused on was surrounded by an oncoming onslaught. The first of the daggers was a simple dodge, and it paired nicely with the dodging of the dagger aimed at her thigh. However, she had a crucial decision to make: dodge the third dagger and possibly miss the incoming saber or guarantee the weapon and take the hit.
She barely had enough time to finalize her decision when the saber hilt planted firmly in her palm and the dagger sliced the fabric of her Stillsuit open across her forearm. a fine line of blood appeared then streamed down her arm.
With her opponent recalling the daggers, one of which gleamed with blood, Blue lowered her hand and admired the fine designs of the weapon. It looked all too familiar to her; its metallic frame gleamed in the blue blade in her other hand. Blood ran down her hand and began to coat the hilt. She activated the blade. It hissed alive, drying the crimson liquid in its warm glow. She felt its presence and discovered its namesake in the pulses of energy emitted from the blade.Nihilo. Nice to meet you. Meet Omnis. She looked up at her opponent; a different look came over her. The sincerity of kindness she once possessed was now gone. Force energy began to spill out from her pores, and the air around her began to waver and shimmer. She was lit by blue on her right, and red on her left. Seven crystal shards floated up from the cavern floor and formed a bit of a multi-colored halo over her head, and she smirked.
With extreme speed, she momentarily vanished, appearing before Mariah and attacking with both blades from the top. The impact sent a shockwave reverberating through the cave, and there was a single moment where Blue looked into the eyes of her opponent.
A moment passed, and the attack commenced. Simple attacks with impactful hits. They weren’t meant to do anything more than creating a rhythm, a pattern of attack and defense. It was a dance, with the audience of crystalline shards and phrik daggers glinting and chiming in with their own attacks.
Top, left, parry, left, right, top jab, parry, stab. Over and over with perfected footwork and hand motions. the attacks were much easier with a second blade. She didn’t perform any fancy moves or over the top actions. Her attention was focused solely on her opponent and trying to read a weakness with actions that were well practiced and met with equal precision. She spoke as she swung her blades. What would you, a figment of the force, have to learn? Why would you have a reason to learn if you only exist to teach me a lesson? When this is over, will you not cease to exist and become as the namesake of this blade? She jumped back for a moment, made a quick motion of her right hand as she pointed at Mariah and swiped it to the side before jumping back into another flurry of attacks. She upped the intensity of her hits with newfound strength, and she pushed forward. Blue spoke in-between hits.Indeed! I- fear- becoming- you!A rumble began to echo in the cave. Blue took both blades and struck from the left, then the right, then the top. Each hit was like a small explosion of energy. Just as she brought down the blades from the top, she stomped her right foot, sending a spray of mud up into her opponent’s face. The stomp allowed her to propel herself backward with the directed Force push, and out of the way of the rubble falling from the ceiling.Cold and uncaring. Hateful without reason. Seeking only death and destruction. A disappointment to my sister. She landed with a hop and slid to a stop. Crouching down, she flipped her blade around and held it behind her, with Nihilo in front ready to defend. The crimson blade was starting to warm her from the inside. The blood on her arm was caked and dried and mixed with dirt and sweat. But if I ever have to become as you are, now would be my only excuse.===== The four creatures looked onward from their dimension on high. The red-robed Huginn looked over at their counterparts. So what lesson were you hoping to teach Red down there by bringing her here to Ilum?Huginn and Muninn looked at one another, and each shrugged before looking over as Muninn replied. That there is some good in the universe. What of you and your Mariah? The red-robed ravens looked down at the fight below. Orange-robed Muninn replied coldly with a butchered Rick Moranis impression. That good is dumb.Huginn, amused at the reference, opened his beak and smiled as only a bird could. Muninn watched in silence.

Although Nihilo was no longer at her hip, Mariah's gaze didn’t reveal much of anything as Blue ignited the red hot blade. Even her aura didn't fluctuate to reveal her impression on such a feat. Her steady steps only continued onward. With the reveal of the contrary auras of the blades ready to work in tandem, Mariah readied her blades in a defensive maneuver. The soft glow of the purple blade in her right hand flickered with a hum, spinning it from its reverse grip to join the positioning of its sibling in her left.
Mariah's crimson gaze only shifted momentarily from her opponent to recognize the crystal shards Blue used to counter her blades. A flicker of an upwards twitch of her lips revealed a dry and joyless smile, as if mocking the other's attempts to match her arsenal. She could have critiqued Blue for leaving herself under-equipped and unprepared for a fight at a moment's notice, but with that thought, her other self rushed her with a speed and haste she would have expected from herself. Warping the Force around her person, she used that same old trick as her other self and readied for the oncoming onslaught. The moment Blue appeared over her, her blades were at the ready.
Crimson eyes locked with piercing blue, both revealing the murderous intent they held for the other. It was only that simple, brief moment, before the rhythmic patterns formed among the twin blade dancers. While her counter-self chose more simple but powerful means of striking, Mariah's footwork and fluid motions allowed these impactful hits to glide off her blades, parrying each hit with an effortless grace. She wanted this one to reveal her full fury, after all, and she was prepared to take on each attack as though they were her own.
A flutter of purple to meet the blue overhead. Her other blade parrying the the left as shifted a heel, cartwheeling over her blue self as she attacked for the shoulder. Her blade met with a parry, her free blade parried the oncoming onslaught. With the final jab of the pattern, Mariah dodged out of the blade's path, sending a furious slash downward to alter its path just enough to hopefully throw Blue off enough for a successful strike of her own. Her blade was then carried away with another aerial offensive, but Blue was all too quick to recover. The dance continued"If you truly believe that to be my blade's namesake, then you will never harness its truest essence," she scoffed.
This other was real. Her words revealed as much. Blue spoke with such conviction that she was the real one who had ventured here. Mariah could feel her presence as though she was indeed another who ventured into the Crystal Caves of Ilum. She had heard the stories of the visions others would have here, the trials and nightmares they would need to pass the deeper they ventured. However, Mariah was no stranger to visions, even powerful ones, and this was no vision. That, or the two birds who brought her here would need to find a new charge when this was all over."If there's truly a lesson here for you to learn, it's a shame that it will also be the last." Mariah sent another barrage of daggers towards the other as she tried to jump back for a moment. Met with crystal shards, her daggers continued their skyward dance as the two had but that brief moment before Blue continued forward. But at last, Blue's greatest fear was revealed, the information Mariah had attempted to draw out throughout this fight. It was as though speaking these words aloud were as great as any spell. Blue's determination created a fluctuation within the Force, a noticeable difference as she continued her attacks. Each time her blade met Mariah's, there was a growing energy that the other was drawing off of and growing stronger. The crimson haired woman met her power as it grew; the cloak which wrapped around her presence faded bit by bit with each impactful strike of Blue’s blades. It seemed, however, that the caves were not built well enough to handle these counter forces within its domain.
Although Blue jumped from the rubble which fell, Mariah had her own methods of dealing with it. Even with the mud splashed into her face, the Force proved a useful tool in more ways than one. Dust beat against her back as she leaped upwards to meet the rocks and crystals which fell. Feeling each speck, its energies, its momentum, its disruption and space within all that was, Mariah continued onward in her upward trajectory. Spinning to meet her feet against the rubble large enough to handle it, Mariah climbed her way upwards through the falling rocks, until she was above the final falling piece. Her violent crimson frame seemed to hover for the briefest of moments as she wiped the mud from her face, and then began her free fall back to the ground below. Although Mariah was prepared for another range of attacks, she wasn't prepared for the vicious verbal assault the other would throw her way.
'Hateful without reason,' she said. There was so much that this other had yet to experience, if she truly believed that. If that wasn't enough, she brought Aria into this battle. This would prove to be Blue's biggest mistake. That was still a deep wound that had yet to heal, even after all of these years, that this one decided to suddenly tear back open into the gushing wound within her soul. Her Aria. Blue's Aria. It didn't matter. The moment the memory of her face, her mannerisms -- all that she was came into view within her mind's eye, the aura around the other shifted dramatically.
Mariah's feet hit the ground, a cloud of dust forming around her. Her sabers were stretched out on either side of her, illuminating through the dust with an eerie stillness. If this one wanted a lesson to all the blessings she had in life, to see the curse of the other who had been stripped of all those joys, she would see it and the fury of Chaos together. Mariah shed the cloak around her aura, her presence sending a hellish rippling through the air, thickened by the sheer concentrated aura of the Force, and thousands whispered screams throughout the crystals, which radiated and amplified the Force. Among those cries of Chaos, more malicious ones pierced through the Veil, crying out both in aggravation and warning. You mustn't... ...Destroy her... ...You dare abuse your full talents on this child?!...Fools... ...You must tread carefully... ...You must not lose yourself again, Mariah... A single voice shattered through those dissonant sounds."Then you must become as I, child..." The crimson haired woman stood, and as the dust settled around her, she met Blue with a chilling, bloodied crimson stare. Her very essence seemed to soak in every ounce of the Force that was pouring into this place, like her presence was an insatiable black hole even in this place laden in the Force. In that moment, it was as though the Force manifested Mariah's burning memories around them, replaying in front of the two like a true vision. An unknown forest, burning and lingering with death. Bodies cast about in a senseless massacre. Within, were all members Blue may have recognized. Her family. Mariah's family. But all that was left... was her. A teary-eyed, frightened child. Somehow missed and left to witness the truth of death and loss all at once."...else your time is up." Her whispered words held a haunting warning -- a final moment for Blue to grasp everything that lied around her, the truth of the other who felt such hatred and fury without reason. No, it was not ill-placed, but a long burning ember waiting for the spark. A long-lived lesson taught. The brightest light creates the darkest shadows. The failed attempt to snuff out her people would only be the demise of any who attempted to snuff out last living memory of that massacre. Without another moment to spare, this hellish version of Mariah, now emanating with her full fury and holding nothing more back, rushed forward for the final onslaught.

The words of the Crimson Warrior barely registered to Blue Mariah as she witnessed a true vision. Horror washed over her as this image of what was displayed before her. If it wasn’t, then it was to be. At the center of it was a singular individual, a child, a girl - her - standing in the center of it all.
Did she - I - cause this?
She felt a single tear drop down her cheek at the mention of the word "time," and he hung her head for but a moment. Clenching her blades even tighter, she crouched as she felt the waves in the Force around her feet. It beat against her chest and filled her lungs. The fury that the other across from her was pure and purposeful. Perhaps her initial thoughts were misplaced.
The Force buckled, and she braced for the impact of the violet blades against Nihlo and Omnis. The result sent shockwaves resounding through the cavern and was followed by a flurry of motion.
Sparks flew as the blades impacted one another and the crystalline rocks kicked up into the air by the dance of the two warriors. Blue found her breath and pacing against her furious foe. For a change, she was keeping up with the rage, as it too boiled up within her own breast. She broke from defending for a moment and attacked to the right with both blades.
This isn’t what they would want!
The clash of the blades, the dance of the daggers, and the blasts of the Force between the two was finally matched as Blue put forth the effort to defend herself, realizing that this fight may have more implications than she initially imagined. Continuing her defense, she directed several crystal shards from the right.
Hatred won’t bring them back!
Her eyes danced around as her feet shuffled in the intricate dance of death the two found themselves entangled in. Blue feinted to the left swinging wide, but stopped, pulled back and drove her blades to Mariah’s right, aiming for her arm and shoulder.
She gritted her teeth and pulled back and attacked again from the right. She pulled back again and struck from above and from the right. Her left arm was going cold. The strain kept opening the wound, and the crimson liquid trickling down was getting chilled in the cold cavern. The loss of blood was starting to have an effect too, as the phirik blades did their jobs well.
Off in the distance, behind Red, Blue saw a shadow of the little girl standing among the flames. She was scared, and she was furious. The fear in her eyes was quickly being replaced with bloodlust. Her frown was becoming a snarl. The little girl screamed.
Blue screamed as she pressed the attack. Her eyes were angry, and her heart was starting to feel a lust that she had so carefully suppressed with training and care. Now, those fragile knots were coming undone, and the fire was starting to fill her lungs. Fight through the pain. Survive. It was a tiny voice, but the concept of survival now was starting to be realized to her. This vision turned reality was not what she had intended.
=====
The pair of brothers looked down on the two women fighting in the cavern. Muninn dressed in red looked over at his equal and inquired
What made you bring her here?
Muninn looked at his brother who looked to be enjoying the fight, then to his own equal before looking back to the fight himself.
He brought us here. We figured the crystal caves would be a good place to have the experience to gauge her skills before we took her under our wings as our new charge. This experience has been wholly unexpected. While ultimately beneficial, I don’t think either one of us had intended for anyone to get seriously injured in this trip.
Orange-dressed Muninn nodded and headed back to his own brother and Muninn called out to him.
Wait, what of you. I know the lesson you wanted to teach, but why here and now?
Orange-dressed Muninn looked back over his shoulder.
The force works wonders, doesn’t it? See –
He turned and spread his wings out to his side before shuffling them back behind his torso.
Blue down there wanted to become stronger to help defend her family. She felt like she was adequate, but only just. We decided to test her meddle and promised her that we could help her protect her family when she returns. But –
He turned once again and headed back to his brother
She doesn’t look like she will be returning to protect them. So they will be ours for the taking.
His brother chimed in
Not that she could have stopped us.

The vision lit the cave with a fiery inferno, and it was as if each charging step of the crimson warrior left ashes behind in her wake. Her attacks came ruthlessly, brutally; the grace and elegance of the warrior she once faced was now stripped away to nothing more than the sheer, wild hatred she tried to turn Mariah away from. In the nexus of this place, it was too difficult of a feat now to turn back from the hellfire she unleashed.
Yet Blue continued to keep up, as if the fury was rising up within her as well. Whether or not she wanted to admit it, Mariah's words were finally breaking her down, spurring up those emotions she had tried to quell. Their sabers clashed with a newfound strength behind each motion. With both Omnis and Nihilo screaming down to her right, Mariah sent a furious arc with her offhand to catch the blades and followed through her left. Pushing through the gap, Mariah sent the pommel to smash across Blue's head, and her athames stood ever at the ready for the crystal shards Blue sent flying. The remaining two hooked upon her belt cried out to join their brethren, and almost as if on their own, rose to meet the occasion amidst the battle.
However, Mariah now had little care of keeping this body protected from the other's returned assault. The feinted attack could have been caught, but Mariah's clarity was gone. Although able to wholly deflect the blade aimed for her shoulder, the crimson warrior felt the burning sensation rip through her upper arm. Her scream was all that marked the hit, though, as Mariah sent another onslaught, like a whirlwind of blades from all directions. Parrying the single blade caught, Mariah stabbed towards Blue's left shoulder, pulled back back and arced her left saber upwards towards Blue's right thigh, and followed up again with a downward slash across her body towards Blue's right shoulder.
"They're gone!" she screamed, her words melding with the vision of the little girl, crying out in her hatred. "What does it matter what they want? My sole, final order was to survive!"
With that bellowed word, the vision of the little redheaded child vanished, blown away like ash in the breeze. Survive. Mariah met Blue's onslaught, however now accepting blows for critical openings. She could feel the piercing through the outside of her left thigh, another piercing through her shoulder. However, she used moments to push through Blue's openings for critical hits as she could find them. It was only a matter of time before Mariah pushed Blue into a corner, locking down her blades long enough for her eyes to pierce through hers. The depth of her aggression, shown within those narrowed crimson eyes, cut into Blue.
"How dare you bring up your sister to claim that I'm the disappointment." Her growling tones rumbled just loud enough over the sparks of their sabers, locked and lashing out to be broken free. "If I couldn't protect mine, then you, a mockery of me, is useless to yours and doesn’t deserve to take another breath."
Like vultures awaiting for their prey to finally fall, Mariah's six knives circled above the battleground. Mariah disengaged her blades from Blue's and pushed herself back. The moment she created that distance, the six heeded a silent call, beaming towards Blue. Two at either thigh, two more at either shoulder, one for the heart, one for the head. The burning pain in her thigh, arm, and shoulder pulsed, but were otherwise still numbed by the sheer adrenaline that still coursed through her veins. Mariah's twin purple blades were poised horizontal over her body and head as she waited for her foe to deflect the careening knives and push herself forward.
"There is more to this life than those we held dear. Now enough of your childish words about what the dead want, and fight."

They're not gone. They're alive in you...
It was a silent whisper as the onslaught continued. She was laser focused and furious in a way that she had long forgotten. It was a contagious feeling emanating from her opponent.
She took the opportunity of space to center herself for the half moment that was gifted to her, but the rage was now burning brighter than ever.
With a slight glance upward, she prepared her defensive stance and grinned at Mariah with a massive crystal came crashing down to the cavern floor sending dust and debris flying. It was less of a shield and more of a hammer that would have crushed the windswept phirik daggers.
The dust was still flying, and the rumbles were still echoing in the cavern when blue jumped over the crystal.
They live through you!
It was a funny feeling, this anger she felt welling up within her chest. It was a flurry of survival, turned to burning hatred. It flared up within her and drove her to eliminate the threat before her. It stemmed from the fear of what she could become if she allowed the feelings to consume her, and for a brief moment, in her attacks, it did, and it brought joy with it. Now, it refined down to righteous fury, a calm blue flame she hoped was pure in its intentions. She felt her eyes well up, joy, anger, devastation.
You don’t have to do this.
She landed in front of the fallen crystal sanding contrapposto on her right, blades by her sides aimed out and down. Their contrasting colors made the green crystal behind her glow an array of hues. She was no longer the angry, hateful person she felt coming down the corridor of her mind. She felt compassion and empathy for this other her who was trapped with the loss of her family.
I'm sorry. I accepted this journey to conquer my weaknesses, not to kill. I am truly sorry, Mariah, I took you for a vision of the Force, not a living creature with hopes and dreams and desires. I am sorry you have suffered as you have. I didn’t want this.
She looked upward and screamed.
Do you hear me! Take me away from this place! I am done playing your games! I won’t kill for your pleasure! Huginn! Muninn!
She looked back down at her counterpart and whispered.
I am done.
