In an exaggerated gesture, bordering on the flamboyant, Landrin grasps Bel'fima's free hand, and bent down and kissed it. I am most delighted to meet you, Bel'fima. Bel'fima smiled winsomely, and removed her hand from Avaro's elbow and grasped Landrin's before he could pull back. She must say, this was not the reaction she expected based on his file, but she had her orders. My, what a charmer. Let's dance, shall we? Without waiting for a response she pulled him away from the bar and started to the dance floor. Then, she pulled him close, and began to dance a simple waltz-like dance, just flowing to the music. It was simple enough that he could follow her lead, regardless of experience. She looked into his eyes with a broad grin that melted the will of many a man.Tell me, who taught you to have such manners?

Cass' entire demeanor changes to the new arrival. Gone is the cocky kid, replaced with respect and charm. It is a pleasure to meet you my lady. The young man bows in reverence. I had hoped that tonight would lead to meeting someone of your status. I had counted the opportunity lost when the overzealous dog had me removed. =Aylee'seresh=The young Twi'lek woman laughed, her lekku twitching slightly with amusement. "The Imperials felt the need to make an example of someone, and unfortunately you were an easy target." She glanced from the recently-expelled guest to the Jedi Knight for a moment, as she chose her next words carefully. "The fact that you got as far as you did demonstrated great resourcefulness, and I deduced that attending the gala must have been very important to you, so I came outside to find out why." Her smile deepened. "You said you wanted to meet someone of my status, and here I am. Master Jedi does not believe you are a threat anyone, so what are you seeking?"

I a word? Employment. I am a man of skills and standards. Skills that make possible clients wealth an issue, and standards that limit the character. I am not above doing dirty work some won't do. He looks at the Jedi. But I want to know why it's being done. A senator would fit the bill, possibly. The likelihood of a need for what i can do, and a possibility for someone with character exist within that profession, that don't exist in others. So you see my conundrum. I am out here, and the people I would like to meet are in there.
Cass looks at the Jedi knight, and points to his lightsaber So do I get that back yet? Or do you think you need to hang on to it a bit longer?

Up on the balcony with Crom'nen, Ludo continued his conversation.
I think you misunderstand me. I am not seeking an opponent. I am seeking he who is already my opponent. I am seeking the one who has been twisting the galaxy to his will and whim for as many years as I can remember. I have sought this entity since my teenage years, and have come no closer to finding it. I had hoped to unearth a clue to his identity and whereabouts though my secret interactions with you. Alas, they were futile. You were but a red herring. Now, toward you, a seek nothing more than to be your colleague, and to enlist your aide in my search.
Ludo deliberately avoided any actions which signified that he could see the defel.

Or do you think you need to hang on to it a bit longer? =Aylee'saresh="Yes, I see." She replied in a sympathetic tone. The Twi'lek's eyes narrowed, and she pressed her blue lips together for a moment as she thought carefully about Cass's words, and tried to read his face. His intentions all seemed plausible, but at the same time, it was just talk (she did not yet know he was the man who had rescued Dmitri yesterday). Senator Koronov was a busy man, and making an appointment with him for Cass on a whim was not something she usually did. =Jordan=And now it was time for the Jedi to make a decision. He could not wait any longer, and it was becoming increasingly clear that he only had one option. "Secretary, this man knows the ways of the Force, and yet he is not a member of the Jedi Order." The Corellian said, addressing Aylee before he answered Cass's question, and chosing very careful words. He could not just say, keep this man occupied for me so that the Jedi do not lose track of him or lose the chance to inquire about his knowledge of the Force. That wouldn't do at all. "He should be given the opportunity to serve the Republic, and to demonstrate his professed commitment to the Light." Then, turning to Cass, he extended his hand and returned the red-eyed young man's lightsaber. "Do not make me regret this, and may the Force be with you." Stepping away, he nodded to Aylee, and moved out of earshot toward the far end of the entrance balcony, leaving the Twi'lek alone with the half-Chiss, half-human.=Aylee'saresh=Aylee glanced from the saber to Cass, then to Jordan, then back to Cass, her face revealing just a hint of surprise. She hadn't expected the Jedi to give up the lightsaber that easily. That was a leap of faith most Jedi wouldn't have taken with an unknown like this, even though the gain or loss of a single weapon was hardly a deterrent to the average Sith assassin. But she could handle this, even if he did end up being a threat. Right now, he needed her help, and she should take advantage of that to learn a bit more about him. "Well, then. You say that you want an employer with character." Her lekku twitched. "How would you define good and bad character in a prospective employer?" She grinned. "Because I might know a guy...."

Whether you like it or not, you have placed enmity between us. It will take more than pretty words to undo that damage. The heated argument was broken suddenly by a petite twilek armed with a very dangerous Datapad. Took a while for 18 to hunt Crom'nen down, but she believed she found him just in time. Because, it was time.-18- "Sir, Mr Crom'nen, I am sorry to disturb, but your speach is in ten minutes." It was unsure how much she heard of it, for the others at least. In truth, her datapad and herself only heard the last couple sentences. The Imperial Agent bowed slightly to the two senators, just enough to show respect. It was a beutifull little creature, someone whom seemed like she dealt a lot of time in the gym.She was not at all what he expected, and he had been around long enough to sense something a foot. He had no proof so he went on as normal but on his guard.Well of course then my lady. For you may I suggest a staple of my own world? An Ak egg porter perhaps? It is a special brew from my home city. I had a dozen cases donated to tonight's events. It is rich in flavor, and no there are not any real eggs in it. The bubbles it makes are more egg shaped then round, thats where its name comes from. I would love for you to suggest something from your home for me to drink. I may not be as young as I once was, but I have yet to find a drink to beat me. As her assistant silently vanished amongst the people, 19 winked the furry humanoid.-19- "Darlin, I am from Anobis, its an agrarian world, with hard working, hard people, and hard liquer. My personal faviourite? Grain darlin, grain. Anobian Grain Vodka for you, that fancy Egg thing for me. Tell them its the good stuff from the back, I was saving it as a thank you for the staff, but I guess we can open a bottle." She looked around, and grabbed a waiter that was tottaly doing something else, telling him the orders. She was the boss lady, she could do what the frack she wanted. The drinks were brought forth, with a note of the costs that were waaaay over what it should actually cost.-19- ""Your paying darlin, you state the toast." She said, taking her drink with egg shaped bubbles in it. The vodka, you could smell from across the room. It was nothing nice, lacked all kinds of stile. It was just simple hard spirits made from grain. Evil stuff.

Post by Senator Zarine S'daya on Jun 6, 2015 16:53:19 GMT -8
Zarine let her conversation with Dmitri lapse a bit in light of the Alderaanian Senator's presence. Besides, she had been hoping that tonight would not be all business. However, she knew enough of Dmitri to be aware that he was most likely clueless in the presence of women. Well, she didn't take long to get down to business, did she? Zarine thought ruefully. She hadn't known the Corellian Senator felt so strongly about Alderaan and wondered fleetingly whether his concern was sparked by the dazzling presence of Standash Thul. The corners of her lips twitched in a faint hint of a smile, as she gestured to a passing waiter and lifted a delicate glass of something bubbly from his tray. She needed something to do.
And it didn't seem likely that Dmitri was going to ask her to dance in spite of the rather promising music. Luckily neither himself nor Standash was Jedi. She certainly didn't want anyone to read her feelings at the moment. She felt like someone else had waltzed blithely into her territory and taken control. The Yavinite realized that this was irrational of course, but the Corellian Senator had made an impression on her. Dark eyebrows drew into a frown in the middle of her forehead, creating a crease just over her nose as she took a long sip of her drink. I'm probably going to need it, she thought to herself, carefully re-assuming a placid exterior like the calm of the sea, hiding the storm beneath.
Zarine looked about, considering a disappearance. "Well, perhaps you should show the Alderaanian around, Dmitri? After all, she's only recently arrived."

He took the drink in his hand. It was strong for sure, stronger than anything he had in years. But his pallet could still handle it. May there always be people to solve problems and save the day. He takes the shot. He had had worse, not much worse, but worse still. He lets the spice hints burn in his mouth, savoring the subtleties. Thawn believed a planet's art revealed its nature, However Alfrick believed it was a planet's liquor that said the most. This drink spoke volumes about the young woman in front of him. That was wonderful my lady. It wasn't a lie, the insite it gave him was truly wonderful.

=Agent 235=There was a rumbling laugh from within the helmet that adorned the shrouded man's head. "The more you know about the galaxy, the easier it is to protect the ones you love." He replied in his gravelly voice. "So if it is possible to know 'everything,' then one is obligated to do so. That is the Mandalorian way." Nuke paused. "But you know that as well as I do." Plu's eyes were increasingly turned outward, not inward, to threats in the Unknown Regions or even beyond the galaxy. The crumbling of the Sith as a large-scale galactic threat and the revelations of his research into the Empire of the Hand had changed his priorities. But he still had eyes and ears on the inside, to watch for trouble inside the 'tame' part of the galaxy, and 'Nuke' was one of those watchers. "Your 'Uncle' wishes for greater visibility into the operations of the Republic and the Empire." He continued in his low voice. "He fears that our vode's recent crusade against Force users may be misinterpreted, and zealots may falsely paint the Mandalorians as a threat to auretiise civilian populations." There was more -- much more -- to his plans, but that was the 'sanitary' version. You never knew who else might be listening. This was Coruscant, after all. -Aya (in Mando'a) Misinterpreted? Our people's goals have never been a mystery, though we do go about them differently from generation to generation. The absorption or destruction of everyone that isn't vode. Uncle only worries that they might decide to strike before he is ready. That is why my Buir spent so much time cultivating contacts in the 'civil' regions of space. And why I continue that task. While the method was different, D'Ordinii had much the same overall goal as their parent clan. Protecting & making the Mandalorian people stronger. Unlike Or'dinii, D'Ordinii focused on the known portions of the galaxy, building ties & connections with the so-called 'upper crust' of the galactic community. Of course the ultimate goal for all of those connections was to subvert & absorb as much as possible as quickly as possible. Hopefully, without anyone even knowing what was happening. It meant sadly that that goal had to be kept from the Mandalorian Empire as well as the galaxy at large, so many of the clans had a rather negative view of them. However, that itself was a boon to their goal, as it was often used to gain the trust of people & companies that would hesitate to associate with more mainline Mandalorian clans. =Agent 235=The Noghri shrugged. He had perhaps misspoken, but Plu was not concerned with eliminating the auretiise in the Core regions anytime soon. The auretiise from beyond the Unknown Regions were a far greater threat to the future of the vode, because they could not be manipulated to his will, or neutralized with political infighting. Absorption and destruction were harsh words, but they were accurate. It was just, as he got older ans wiser, the Aliit'alor had turned his attention more and more to achieving these goals thought politics, manipulation, trickery, finance, culture, and other levers besides open war. These methods had greatly reduced the amount of Or'dinii blood that had been spilled, compared to his warmongering youth."So what of the D'Ordinii?" He said after a moment, changing the subject. "Have your been successful in cultivating useful contacts?" He glanced cautiously from side to side. "I hope to learn as much as I can about Republic internal politics and foreign relations while I am here."

Post by Aya D'Ordinii on Jun 9, 2015 7:36:31 GMT -8
Aya shrugged slightly. D'Ordinii did, in fact, have a large range of contacts on call. However, they tended to get fewer & farther between the farther in toward the core one progressed. Further out, business contacts & minor local governments made up most of the contacts. Toward the core however, things shifted toward the less legal portions of the population.
The Clan's standard policy for moving into a new region was nearly always the same. First they would find a region with existing problems with pirates or rebels. A common enough problem with the galactic turmoil since the end of the Palpatine Wars. If a suitable group couldn't be found, one was occasionally created. The Clan would then set up some kind of official presence in the system, a mining colony perhaps. The pirate group would be discretely funded. Once the problem was bad enough, the local government usually turned to the Clan for help with the problem. Then it was just a matter of having Starfire Security come through & do a clean sweep of the pirates. This was often enough to get the Clan into the inner circles of the local government. From there it was just a matter of discretely absorbing the planet bit by bit or failing that, turning them into a puppet state.
That had, in fact been one of the reasons that Aya had attended this event. She was assessing on a grand scale just who to target & with what level of force. Both the Empire & the Republic were well beyond the Clan's ability. Any force big enough to threaten one of them would be well beyond the Clan's ability to control once the time came, at least for now. Both were definitely on the list, was the Clan was powerful enough. However a function like this was not just host to the two major powers, there were always swarms of little fish swimming around looking for scraps of favour. Perfect targets for the Clan.
-Aya (in Mando'a) To an extent. The major powers that act in the centre of the stage are still well beyond our influence, but compared to where we stood forty years ago when Clan D'Ordinii was founded, we have made rather impressive progress.

It hadn't been as detailed an answer as she might have hoped to receive, but it had been the right one. She still wasn't sure why she was considering helping this boy. Maybe it was just because he offered her a way to spite the elites of Coruscant and the outsized egos of the Imperials. Or perhaps it was something deeper: one of those gut feelings that Dmitri valued so highly and was always encouraging her to follow. Either way, she knew that her employer would give this young stranger an audience, no questions asked, and no reproach later if it didn't work out. The Senator from Corellia trusted her, and all she had to do was ask him."It does." She glanced at the Jedi out of the corner of his eye, but if he had heard Cass, he hadn't reacted. Typical Jedi. Just sit there all quiet with a sabaac face, and leave you wondering. "I would like to think that my employer is such a man. But perhaps you should judge for yourself." She grinned. "I can't promise you a job, but I can get you a meeting with Senator Koronov."

Mia wanders away from the crowds to find a little more open space. Mia had heard a lot of discussion about this event since her arrival on Coruscant, but was truly surprised when Ludo wanted her company here. Ever since her broken engagement, her relationship with the twi'lek people had been strained. At first she had hoped that this would help mend that rift. However, she had been disheartened by the use of Crom'nen's name. It had been his clan the she was supposed to marry into all those years before. And although she had grown considerably since her flight, she was still wary of clan Fen.

Avaro does not notice her slipping the drink away, nor does he care. He does however give a slight start at the mention of her name. He had heard it somewhere before, or at least he thought he had. So many name and faces swirled through his head. He had been intorduced to more people since coming to Coruscant than in the rest of his life combined. The fact that had to be introduced to the same people seven or eight times did not affect him except maybe through embarrassment when it was pointed out to him. I may not be good at remembering faces, but at least that name sounds familiar. Are you a senator?
