Just waiting for my reply. Hopefully Rob gets back to me soon. Took me some time to get back to him beforehand. The challenge should take no more than a post or two between us. xD

Wow, I didn't realize this thread existed. Kind of sad to see I was ignored in the listing of active vode (Did I really drift that far people?).
Clan Or'dinii/ Sub-Clan D'Ordinii Aliit: Plu Or'dinii Vode: *Z'har Dizen Or'dinii (The Admiral) (Also the head of sub-clan D'Ordinii) *Aya D'Ordinii *Marcos D'Ordinii (uncertain in-clan status) *Non-Com Or'dinii (Technically also part of D'Ordinii)

Can I just ask... have we, as Mandalorians, fallen so far that we can't have a meeting of the clan heads without having the Mand'alor reign over us? cause if that's the case, fuck that noise. Honestly, we had something good going, till we had to pull the damn breaks on it because "oh we need to do this the proper 'JvS way' to get a new Mand'alor", and look where that got us... A good number of those that showed up in the hype have kind of disappeared since we made no progress, this thread started in july, it's now october, and where are we now? NOWHERE.

Goran....you have a point about the july/october gripe. However, the fight for the Helm is under way. RL responsibilities always cloud things, but trying to dictate a new Mand'alor without giving the courtesy OOC to the current one is just bad manners. I understand your frustration. It's valid. We all want to move forward.

I always did wonder why we even need a Mand'alor. As mandos aren't exactly the type to follow orders anyway (certain splinter groups & clans notwithstanding). Really any time the helm gets involved on the site the entire faction always shifts toward the 'imperial but more drunk' end of the scale. I'm not saying we shouldn't have a Mand'alor (they serve as good figureheads) I just think they shouldn't really have any 'official' power beyond a massive dose of respect (kind of like a massive celebrity would be treated). Sure there would be a fair number that would do anything they said at any time, but most wouldn't. Of course this is also ignoring the war-function of the position.

Mand'alor is a spiritual leader during a time of war. Usually the Aliit'alors come together in a war council to decide if they as a people need to wage war. Then Mand'alor takes the reigns and leads. At least that's how I read into it.

Ya, same here. But whoever has the helm usually ends up acting like a cheap imitation palps.

When I was Mandalore, I had two jobs. One, was to lead the clans if we went to war. The other was to deal with foreign heads of state as necessary. Other than that banged my wife, drank wine, raised my children, did some farming, forged some stuff, lived my life exactly as any other vod. Mandalore is not an Emperor. Mandalore is also not a clan manager. Clans have chieftains, that's their job.
Of course, when i was mandalore i had a number of people plot against me because I wasn't acting like an emperor, so bear that in mind also.

Also, the helm doesn't necessarily HAVE to be contended with a duel. A new Mand'alor can be elected in a sense. If enough clan leaders back a man for the helm then that is also a way forward. The current Mand'alor has the right to a trial by combat of course, which is likely what has happened here. Still, the meeting could continue irregardless of a forthcoming duel.

In my opinion the Mandalorians have become too dependent on a centralised government. Its the nomadic nature, and the independence of the clans, that always gave us strength. The Resolnare dictates that, in times of war, we rally to the Mand'alor but otherwise each clan should govern themselves and not need to seek absolution for any power higher than their own aliit'or. I guess it depends on where you all want to take this. Re-establish the Mandalorian Empire as a power and suffer the same problems that have always cropped up on JvS when doing so. Its kind of fitting that its so difficult a concept seen as the very nature of the race would make it so in canon. Doable but without an actual war it would be difficult to direct.

Perhaps some sort of conflict is needed at this point? I remember in the past, war was the only way to bring mandalorians together. As someone whose roleplayed as a Mandalorian, I hate to see so much inactivity from such a well respected group.
