The Unfair Advantage
I don't believe in a no-win scenario.

I should be available as well! I might throw in a different character of mine though.. Depending on the participation and the SL

Our characters land on Mrykr and because of super machine X we the writers are now the characters and have to survive, or die on that planet until the machine runs out of power so we can escape.

Interesting idea, Solomon, but I'm not sure about writing as myself. Something to keep in mind for this next 'Who/What/Where/Why" for the SpontRP: The reason the derelict ship scenario was the most successful SpontRP was because it was simple, it was character vs environment vs character. Simple. No set plot, be it extravagant or not, no one controlling or guiding, no complicated anything, and no one got left out. It needs to encourage creativity yet allow the writer to make shorter, quicker posts as opposed to the longer, thought-out stuff we're all used to, and it needs to be big enough to accommodate lots of people with very different characters. We need to be put somewhere, given a skeleton crew of tools, and let it roll. Complete freedom, and maybe a little outside the box. Something we can all use to build off each other's creations. So let's think of some scenarios more like the derelict ship. Like... --We all wake up in a maze, no idea how we got there (or maybe you DO know? Creativity!), we're alone (or you woke up sprawled on top of a random Sith!)...let's explore. Poisonous plants? Wild animals? Rooms full of puzzles? Enemy players? Maybe we're all blind. Maybe we're all drugged. Maybe you're terrified, maybe you're excited. It's your arena. --After a new hyperlane is opened, people start exploring the unknown, and eventually come across an enigma planet. No Force, no tech, it's like a planet untouched by everything we know. Like a world in a timeless bubble. We try to land. Our ships fail. All our tech fails. Everyone crashes. Que the beginning of the SpontRP; where do you end up? The jungle? The beach? The water? On the side of a mountain? Maybe we should all end up in the same area. Are there indigenous people here already? Are you hurt? Why is your bacta patch not working? Your lightsaber doesn't function. Your blaster is useless. There's an animal snarl somewhere close. You grab your companion and run. Or maybe you pick up a rock and stand your ground. Your Jedi enemies become your friends. Or maybe they attack you while your guard is down. It's YOUR arena. We don't need to use those, I'm just throwing out examples of the TYPE of thing we need to focus on if we want to really get back to those spontaneous roots. Anyone have any ideas?

I could not agree more with Jade.
that aside, I have been thinking about a possible setting: - the set up is that a group (likely a mostly Republic exploration team) uncovers the entrance to an abandoned facility similar to Mount Tantiss, but on another world . The team puts in a call to the Republic for reinforcements to aid in further exploration of the Mountain Base. In doing so, the base's automated defences pick up the call and sends out a distress signal on Imperial comm channels. On top of that, certain members of the original group that make the discover are undercover agents for various third parties, who report the find back to their own governments/groups. With the calls going out, various groups would have their own interests in getting people inside the mountain. Sith would be after sith artifacts to strengthen their power. Jedi would be wanting to secure and destroy or remove the sith artifacts. Some would be after the various treasure vaults which would likely contain valuable artifacts that could be sold on the black market. Others might be after the weapon stockpiles that would have been left behind. There could also be lots of data relating to Imperial and/or Republic secrets. And, it's possible there would be access to another cloning facility, so tech from that would sell for a bit. Opposition wise, everyone would likely be vying off against one another to claim their own rewards, or to try and destroy the place. There could also be security droids that are activated when the first teams enter to defend the mountain. Or, maybe some stormtroopers that were held in cryogenic sleep for a few hundred years (or maybe some sith acolytes). It gives a little something for everyone to do, and doesn't force them to pursue any one single objective. Hell, you might even just be there to assassinate someone going into the mountain, or ignore the whole thing altogether and find some other reason to be at the place.
Maybe as an idea, there could be a couple different 'events' going on at the same time on the one planet, so people have a little more choice as to why they are at that location? After all, the idea was to get people together for some spont RP, so the more things that are happening, the more reason people have to show up.

I personally like Swindler's second scenario. It's out of the box and gets us away from familiar tactics.

Emma Van Kanne: That's not a bad idea, but it might be too complex for a weekend? I don't know. We've tried similar ideas with the abandoned SD and with my Naboo idea. We don't want a setting too detailed, because then it's hard for people to just drop in and start writing. The Jade Swindler: I agree with Adelle, I like your second idea.

If we're going to make this happen this weekend, we need to start getting the word out. Is everyone ok with Jade Swindler's second idea? If so, where do we want to do this... I'm guessing one of the hyperspace threads?

If we're going to do this, we need to pick a time, place, and scenario in the next day or two, so there is time to spread the word!

Is it too late to designate this weekend? Start it Friday night or Saturday morning? I'm not terribly creative about a scenario, but I *might* be able to construct something.
