Turlon, how would you feel about there being a wookiee who is a former sith acolyte that broke rank and turned to the light, then escaped into the forests and has been assembling a small resistance?
For the purposes of my arrival, he would also have sent out a distress call to the Jedi, but whether it actually reached anyone besides Saris would be unknown.

Yea that works, go for it. I just don't want to hear about wookiees being slaved or mistreated. They technically have their own seperate Chief King that confers and has been allies with the Sith since the very beginning of 1.5. A group of rogue or mad wookiees to complain about or something like that works.

Ok, so what grievances would the sith (or the chief king guy) have committed against the wookiee people? Disarmament? Restriction of freedom? Silencing of dissent?

One thing I can think of is that Windu trains Wookiees to use their claws for combat... That is in the archives somewhere. Which is a HUGE no-no in Wookiee culture

I mean the only thing really would be the influence of the huge Darkside force from the Kashyyyk Temple Fortress combined with the Shadowlands possibly messing with some wookiees or wildlife. Or a rogue group of Sith wookiees that stopped listening even to the Sith but are still darkside. Or maybe even a wookiee civil war idk you can get creative.
Yeah some can use their claws you can go with that i guess but that seems like just a cultural reason not a true grievance. I mean Kashyyyk Sith still has slaves just not wookiee slaves. Expermentation on creatures and lightsiders.. ect

Making soldiers use their claws in combat and thereby destroying thousands of years of Wookiee tradition, polluting the wildlife with dark side energies and the consequences of that, and bringing slaves to Kashyyyk when the wookiees themselves know what it's like to suffer under that status would be more than enough reason for a legitimate rebellion to form, so I'll go with that.

Well when you put it like that it's almost like I'm the bad guy or something.. fair enough although I will contest you in the claw thing, it's not that they are forced to use claws, it's that they are no longer necessarily bound to outdated unnecessary practices. Like how how battles switched to more guerrillas style in the New World. Instead of armies just marching towards each other in neat little formations. A long standing cultural tradition which was triumphed by logic. The slave and Darkside thing I'll give you uncontested though, although Shadowlands have been there since forever canon wise, and they sure as hell aren't going anywhere. Meanwhile the Kashyyyk Sith have been their own separate Darkside nexus for 1.5 canon and beyond...at least. So yeah the Darkside energies have become a part of Kashyyyk as well, almost like a multi thousand year old tradition that shouldn't ever be broken....

The dark side stuff isn't native to Kashyyyk though. It was brought there by the sith.
Regardless, I'm working on a post in orbit now.

Is it known that Windu is the de facto ruler of Kashyyyk?

Yea but I mean the shadowlands may not have occurred "naturally". But by the beginning of jvs "history" it already is pretty much a permanent fixture on Kashyyyk. The Kashyyyk Si and Temple is just extra Darkside influence on top of the already existing influence, that would be there whether or not the Sith were on that planet
Edit: it's pretty much understood that no other faction has succeeded in taking control the past 7 years IRL. If you mean officially then I'm just getting back into this so I'll look into that

I mean in an IC capacity. Would a character know that the leader of Kashyyyk is a sith named Windu?

Yeah Windu or Brimstone. I've been the de facto leader the past few years, but Turlon is more of a hidden gem. IC most would have heard of Lord Brimstone, apprentice and successor to the Great and Terrible Sith'ari Feral Ragnos.

Uhh I guess y'all can leave the city first if you want, or it can start in the city if you prefer. I prefer more spontaneous free flowing rp, feels more natural, rather than I'm going to do this, then your gonna go here, and you'll almost die here but I'll miss..ect..Seems more natural and things feel like they're worth fighting for rather than knowing your char is safe. Like watching a movie you never saw but you know the protagonist is going to live so all threats of death really are worthless. Not saying I'm gonna kill any character but I'm sure you understand what I mean.
I do understand the need to plan stuff out though, especially with a larger amount of people. Just wanted to give an insight to my style.
