Ha!
Reyn gave a laugh and sat down with a smile, acknowledging the hit with a nod, the Clan did have its reputation. Charging headlong into enemy ranks bellowing and firing was generally considered crazy, and Clan Australis was nothing if not direct in its application of violence. Reyn had the scars to prove his own supplications toward the altar of craziness, though he preferred to fight smart where possible, that was difficult when he was under his father's orders. These days he tried very hard to avoid that.
Not here for trouble, at least not for anyone here. We might find ways to bring trouble to others though. Got my own drink.
Making trouble for the Vegemites' potential enemies was why Reyn was here. Though Kaine didn't always use it effectively, Clan Intelligence was formidable and capable, and Reyn had access to everything. That allowed him to make his own plans and avoid entanglements with his father. Buir's name did occasionally open doors, as was the case here today; Reyn doubted he'd get noticed or listened to otherwise.
Buir is off making war. A confederation, one of those democracies that springs up from time to time took over Thyferra while he was distracted. I believe he's currently personally rectifying that situation.
If the others wanted to know something of Reyn, the choice of all red for his armour might have given them a clue. Usually reticent to discuss personal topics, Reyn wasn't going to volunteer his life story. He wanted others to know him by what he could do, not who his father was. His life had been a troubled one to this point, here he could make a difference, and start writing his own story, defining his own path, outside of his father's large and imposing shadow.
One of the other places on the list of potential problems is Byss. The current Emperor is a guy named Nicademus, and rumor has it he has his sights set on the same confederation that irritated my old man. The knights of Ren, while outwardly part of the First Order, stand somewhat apart, and have been rather belligerent of late. Certainly to the degree that a group of adventurers might find great amusement in heading into the deep core to show them they're not the biggest dogs on the block anymore.
Reyn took a sip of his fruit juice and watched the other faces at the table for reactions.

"Nicademus is my successor of sorts. When I vacated the throne of the Empire, he gathered the resources and turned them into something of his own making. He and I have an understanding and dare I say some camaraderie. Crossing him would need to be exceedingly favorable for me to partake. But your father is not bound by my politics. Besides, my focus these days is elsewhere."
A ghost of a smile curved her lips before it was chased away with the lip of a glass and a swallow of the whiskey within.
"My days of being on the front lines are quickly leaving me. I desire to turn my thoughts to my legacy. I seek an apprentice. One I can spend time on, and not have to run a galaxy too. Perhaps an academy. Or maybe I will sit here and drink."
She smiled letting her eyes flit around the faces of the group around the table.
Her eyes flit around around the table but her mind was fixed on a single point. His boldness was new, as far as she could remember but years of whiskey and spice had muddled those memories. She was no longer the most powerful woman in the galaxy and yet he looked at her as though she shone like a diamond. She knew that she had always been attracted to him and yet there was always something distracting her from pursuing it; be it Reverance, Jago, an Empire, hell a galaxy between them. Would he be another mistake in a long line of questionable decisions? Only time would tell but at the moment, she could entertain herself with imagining what it would be like to give him a taste of the heartache. Nothing in the universe was made to last, least of all her relationships. But his smile, that haunted rugged smile made 20 years melt off her old bones and gave her a twinge of regret for not making a move, or giving him a chance. Perhaps all he had left was smoldering looks and pretty words, and it would go no further, but in the laughter and small talk of the group she could think about how he kisses, and how his lips would feel pressed against hers.

Reyn smiled. He was out of his depth here, and he knew it, but he'd spoken, and had to say something that to him, at least, sounded clever. He was feeling anything but all-knowing, in such company, but he was striving to keep up the facade that he knew what he was doing. He nodded at Lord Sinistra when she suggested more drink. In any event, Buir can be managed. You don't distract a predator like that by scaring him away, because that doesn't work. You distract him with juicier prey.He thought of the Corellians, and how the actions of a few non-Corellian politicians had put their world and their people in his father's sights. He would do what he could to forestall that, whatever Kaine happened to think of it. Which he probably wouldn't, not being known for thinking.

The younger man spoke, and he was sure that he had heard it, but none of it stuck. His eyes and his thoughts lingered on Sinistra until they were pulled away by Howler One's hand on his shoulder. She handed him a datapad.
==Howler One== Sir, you should see this.
He scowled as he looked at the information on the device. Apparently his declaration about Manaan had already been recorded and broadcast across Ahto City and there were some who were... Less than enthused about it. It wasn't anything serious, but there seemed to be public unrest in the center of the city. He wasn't sure if they were loyalists of ATD or just some who were tired of regime changes, but he did know it was something that had to be dealt with.
With a sigh, he rose from the table and addressed the others.
My apologies, I have something that needs to be taken care of. It seems like the Old Man's roots run deep.
He went to walk away from the table but stopped next to Sinistra so that he could take her hand in his and kiss the back of it. He didn't say anything to her, but at this point that would say more than words could.
The other Howlers in the room all got up as he left, following him out the door and towards the city.

Kaine dragged his old shebs into the Mortus, looking around the place, and seeing Reyn sitting with Sinistra and some others. As he made his way through the door, he caught the eye of the band leader, just returning to the side stage after a set break. Kaine flicked a hand signal, and the band leader nodded in acknowledgement. Satisified, the Australis Alor walked to the bar as a familiar tune filled the air with music and song.Tihaar. Kaine slapped a few credcoins down and took up a nearby bottle that seemed to be unclaimed, uncorking it and taking a long pull as he turned away from the bar to watch the band. The growled tones and low beat made for a very warlike song, he wished it were in Mando'a, but the mood and the tone sufficed, promising swift vengeance and death upon any who would threaten the people.
The Alor's personal amusements and distractions were at an end. As his intel chief had informed him, it was time to stop kriffing around and get back to work. There was much work to be done, with the IRI forming up to protect the Inner Rim against pirates and anything else, he was now free to return to his Mandalorian career, as well as his work for the Vegemite Enclave.

Caz looked around, squinting her eyes as she looked for a sign that said The Mortus. Kaine didn't know she was there to surprise him. She had been without seeing her husband's face for far too long and decided she had had enough. He wasn't hard to locate for her, as she had his location just in case he found himself in trouble... which was quite often. She was a patient woman who's heart was very much his regardless of his propensity to stir the pot.
Caz pulled her buy'ce off of her head and untied her magenta locks and let them fall down her back. She spotted a ramshackle building, the sign faded and partially falling off it's hooks. There it was... The Mortus. She made her way up the steps and pushed open the door. And there he was. So handsome in his beskar. Her heart skipped a beat and she smiled.
"Hey stranger. Fancy buying a lonely lass a drink?"

Distracted by the band and the music, and not wearing his buy'ce, the Old Boar didn't see Caz enter The Mortus. He didn't notice her approach until she spoke, and upon hearing the familiar voice, his heart skipped a beat, and a warm, not unpleasant flush crept up from his stomach. Despite many years of marriage, his beloved still had the same effect on him that she had always had; straight through all the walls, shields and defences he put up, and directly to his soul.
Blue eyes sparkling with mirth, Kaine met his love's eyes, and matched her playful tone.
Well, hello there miss. He reached out and snaffled a couple of glasses. He'd drink from the bottle if drinking alone, but would bow to custom and classy behaviour when in polite company. He needed no bravado, no airs, and no mystique with Caz. She'd see right through it anyway, he well knew. And he found that he liked that just fine. Still grinning like an idiot, Kaine poured them both a drink, then handed one across to his beautiful wife.
I'm glad you're here. Kaine said more seriously, and stretched one long arm out to pull her gently closer to him. He liked being close to Caz, whatever the circumstances. She had a most pleasant distracting and calming effect upon him, no matter the trials and troubles bothering his Mandalorian mind, he always felt better when she was around.

"I'm glad I'm here too. I've missed you terribly, my love." She let him pull her close, and wrapped her arms around his neck, and planted a kiss on his cheek.
She took the drink from him and waited for him to sit before she settled herself on his knee. She put her buy'ce on the table in front of them and raised her glass at her beloved and then took a sip. "You have been very busy lately. Do you think you have a little time to spend with your wife before you have to run off again?"

The press of his lips lingered on the back of her hand and without a word, he turned and left the bar with his man in tow. Whatever it was that drug him away from the Mortus was no doubt important, but the room seemed less without him and the tension that had been building inside her, threatening to deepen the shade of rouge on her cheeks, deflated in seconds leaving her thoughts and feelings jumbled. Part of her mind tugged at her to follow him, to see where he was going, perhaps to make sure he would not disappear again. The rest of her was frozen to the stool, overanalyzing the situation and pondering if she should take any chances at all. Despite his forward nature this evening, he had been quietly reserved all the years she had known him. Distant and unfaltering.
She reached for the EPBOW and poured herself another drink, which she downed just as quickly, pulling a face as the burn hit her throat. She needed a walk.
“Excuse me, I think I need some air.”
She pushed back from the table and stood with a fleeting smile. Drawing her hood up, she turned, weaving through the bodies and out into the night.

Her words cut him to the core, though Kaine knew that was the opposite of her intent. Caz was expressing her feelings honestly, and the guilt came from his own imagined standard of husbandly behaviour and attentiveness, a standard he felt that he fell far short of. The old Mando pushed the guilt from his mind, and kept his focus here and now where it belonged. He berated himself like he would berate a cadet that if he wanted to do better, then he had better just get on and do better.
More than a little time, love. Privileges of marrying a career soldier. He tapped a few buttons on his forearm mounted datapad, letting the system know he wasn't to be disturbed for a few days. There was nothing going on right now that couldn't keep. His whole universe was right here with him, and he liked that just fine. He liked her sitting on his knee just fine too, not just any pretty lady, but his pretty lady. What kind of idiot would want to be anywhere else in the galaxy?
It's not Oyu'baat. Kaine looked around for a moment, taking in the Mortus. He liked the place well enough, especially the bar selection and the music, but he was Mando'ad to the bone marrow, and everything else would always be at least second best to him. He knew he was biased, but didn't care. His amusements and duties had taken him away from his love for far too long, far too often for his liking.
But it'll do for today. And maybe tonight, if I play my cards right and their rooms are halfway decent, he thought saucily to himself. Sixty years old he might be, but under these circumstances, he felt sixteen again.

Di was not keeping track but during his walk about he had disposed of at least a dozen men. Now he stood in front of a bar. The bar. The place was not the same but notwithstanding nostalgia forcing his hand Di took a seat. Back to the wall and eye on everything. And everyone. After ordering a pitcher of stout the mind now began turning

Di was beginning to become one with the furniture. He was not drunk. He certainly was a long way from sober but drunk he was not. Pondering his condition the man looked around him. Di looked left. He looked right. Sighing deeply then gesturing with a simple wave of left hand he caught attention of a barmaid. After some mindless small talk another pitcher sat before him. And he continued to case out the establishment

The pair could be seen some distance away from the establishment. And the boys indeed could see pub. The Mortus. Sure didn’t seem the place of reckless brawls where Dark covenants were sealed…. The past. Kieran snapped from his thought as the pair were practically on top of the place. A tumbleweed slowly rolling by was the height social activity. Lips thinning Kieran muttered aloud -Kieran- “Whoa…. Some improvements here less the ‘big bad IF’.” They did absolutely nothin…. Nothing that he could see. And there they were. Kieran took a seat. Laoch too. Backs to the wall, table in front of them. A pitcher arrived. And the pair began talking with the server. Easy talk. The weather. The state of the ocean. Sports. Politics. What had happened in the past while on Manaan. What was happening. Kieran found the discussion very interesting. Particularly the part about bombastic speeches with very little to really back it up. Like one who claimed themselves a boxer but couldn’t throw a punch. Loach, having taken a look around as they were entering the pit spoke -Laoch- “Place has really become run down and overgrown!” Didn’t have to speak much he took note, as a crew quickly organized and began cleaning up the outside and surroundings of the bar. Machete, shovel & blow torch. Soon all ridiculous new additions and such were hacked, spade then burned, or in some cases simply torched. Was glorious to behold. With a snap of right hand and an upward nod -Kieran- “Pictures!” And on second thought adding-Kieran- “And a indulge me; need a speaker….” A nondescript individual casually laid a envelope full of pictures on the table then left without a word.left. Snatching up the package Kieran immediately took to carefully examining the picture. What a treat…. Obviously taken in a bar. Kieran sifted his eyes scanning the establishment. As in this bar. The who was even more interesting. The unusual suspects to be sure. Monkey Man was odd to say the least. Sinistral? Did she change her clothes? Maybe got some sun. She seemed much less pale. Wincing at the very thought of that poor woman in direct sunlight he moved on to the next photo. The man’s eyes went wwide then thin only to widen again. Nexus….. How did he eat in that thing? The big man found this momentarily troubling. Scratching his head he then gave the pic to Laoch, who was in turn said -Laoch- “What the hell is this?” Right at that moment a small audio unit was set on the table. Kieran of course wasting not a second with convoluted inner debate hit play. And there it was. Might as well have been written a letter. My oh my thought Kieran people certainly enjoy letting the entire universe read their hands…. Laoch put himself into the present task. What truly struck the man were the many discrepancies clearly noticeable in the whole operation. On that train of thought the man returned attention to the picture lineup. From a fast once over some familiar faces were obvious. However Laoch went in another direction, sorting out the lesser known parties. With those stacked he went through them again. Interesting…. Then sliding the pile to across the table -Laoch- “Mhalairt.” Eyes widening Kieran too went over the pictures -Kieran- “I’ll be damned….”

So the boys sat. Waiting. And waiting. And waiting. And waiting. And waiting. And waiting. And waiting. And waiting. Finally snapping the paler of the two began -Laoch- “How long are we doing this for? Giving his brethren a piercing stare the other spoke patiently -Kieran- “Remember what the Old man taught us….” Looking around himself the man was uncertain if his words were effecting the scene -Kieran- “A battle is one thing…..” clearing his throat with a grunt -Kieran- “Then there’s just waiting to see how fast people let their guard down….” Then…. Right then. Kieran’s eyes met with one pic. The man just sat there. Laughing. Bellowing over and flipping the picture to Laoch the man scarcely muttered -Kiera- “Look….” Catching the pic and looking the bewildered man asked -Laoch- “Is that some random shot of a street walker on Coruscant?” Both men burst out laughing. A barmaid stepped up -Barmaid- “Please excuse sirs, but the line these people have been shooting about freeing us from our oppressors is pretty rich…” clearing throat she went on -Barmaid- “We always felt quite free with Himself around.”:And still the woman spoke on -Barmaid- “And the one went on some rant about the building of the bar….” Head shaking -Barmaid- “The daft fool completely oblivious to the fact that the Oldman had to build that beach…..” The woman nodding then took off. Sighing deep then Laoch spoke -Laoch- “Ain’t this one of the dudes who was soiling himself over Auntie Aria?” Now there was a name he Kieran had not heard in years. A name he could have went the rest of his life without hearing again. But yes…. The now Holyer Than Thou dude was one of the pathetic crew who were tripping all over themselves about that bizarre lady

Their arrival at the pub was quite, yet not lacking fanfare. A place was fast set out but the woman did not sit. Boland stood dutifully at the Sinister shoulder. Always ready. Her men were out setting things straight. And the child and her dog wandered. In the moment they woman made a sharp declaration-Grace- “Tongu do Dia Toinges mo Thuath!!!” Immediately Boland stiffened, feet coming togeather, chin to the sky and he bellowed in Basic -Boland- “I swear by the God that my Tribe swears by!!!”

Watching the woman and entourage walk into the bar was reminiscent of an older more civilized time. This was beginning to get interesting, so the man thought. Looking around him quickly he became lost for but a microsecond. Then a set of words fell on ear. Turning towards the sound, left hand covering his heart then bellowing in return -Di- “Tongu do Dia toinges mo Thuath!!!!”

Something was turning over anew - fast. New yet ancient. The tide is changing, so The Old man would say. And nothing stopped the tide. Nothing. Yes Laoch was caught up in his thought. Then the words touched on his tender ears - hard. He could near almost feel Kieran standing. And he heard the man literally screaming to the high Heavens above -Kieran- “Tongu do Dia toinges mo Thuath!!!” Following fast behind the man chimed in himself -Laoch- “Tongu do Dia toinges mo Thuath!!!” Eyes sweeping around him daringly Laoch stood ominously for a moment then sat once again. Loooking to his partner the man casually asked -Laoch- “What next?” Shrugging the question off the Dark warrior spoke -Kieran- “We’ll see…..” Both men sat watching. Listening. Waiting….. Onebthing was for certain- blood was gonna spill….

Maureen quietly entering the pub was fast met by Boland, who in turn scooped up the girl then set her down where Grace and himself were sitting. Grace herself was interacting with those present. The woman was taking in everything. Everything. Sensitive ear and keen eye absorbed a cornucopia of information. And a significant piece of said knowledge was that creepy bird spirt thing that followed her had apparently gone amiss. As the woman was thinking the little girl spoke -Maureen- “I think that Fiach Dubh is busy chasing some other entity pretending to be a bird at the moment….” Grace and Boland crossed eyes but no words were necessary; they knew that she just knew….. The child was… abnormal. The massive mutt parked at the child’s side sat peacefully, wholeheartedly oblivious to any of this nonsense. The kid was happy, he was full, so all was good. Boland found the situation relaxing really. Grace was seemingly ok. The dog and Maureen were safe. And that bloody supernatural bird had, for the time split

Pulling a revolver from under left shoulder with his right -Kieran- “Laoch get me that fool who these buzzards imposed authority on.” Laoch dutifully lumbered off returning with said “high sheriff” or whatever trivial title had been tacked on the poor man. The boys then blew his brains out all over the floor, adding to the ever growing blood stain. Then returning to his investigation of statements from witnesses, physical evidence, recordings and what not the ongoing investigation carried on. Stopping suddenly the big man declared -Kieran- “How stupid are these people?”
