Title confirmation. SOUNDS FAMILIAR okay I never read that book but joke was too good to pass up. I'm not sure how I feel about the title to be honest, but bear in mind, "Jedi" can be plural, don't forget that. I don't think this is going to kill off Luke... at least I hope not, because it would be way too close to what just happened to Han, and would be a bit predictable and even cliche. Plus, poor Rey can't get a break, losing her piloting mentor and possibly idol, and then her Jedi mentor. Luke needs to survive until at least Episode IX. That red "STAR WARS" text is ominous, though...

Could be an indication that the manner in which the Force is looked upon is changing.
Take note that Kylo never once referred to himself a Sith Lord he was a Knight which no doubt could manifest the dark side of the force but he didn't call himself a Sith - so perhaps the 'jedi' are ending.
Also - the presence of the Guardian's of the Whills - recently introduced in ROGUE ONE - posses an interesting point for consideration. The Whills (or rather what little we know of them) did not view the Force in matters of Black and White as the Sith and the Jedi do, and so perhaps in Luke's exile, his perspective also could have changed.
Just a thought.

I wouldn't want the above to be true, or Ezra to be in the film at all, because that would partially spoil how Rebels progressed. In a similar vein, the appearance of the Ghost, Chopper, and a mention of Hera in the background of Rogue One spoiled that those three are safe... at least for now. I'd rather some surprises remain in the show. And while the idea of the Jedi philosophy going the way of the space buffalo is a possibility, for now I just think it's because the movie will have some focus on Luke, who was referred to as "the last of the Jedi" in Return of the Jedi, and his inevitable training of Rey in some capacity. Episode VII was all about finding this guy, so it makes sense that Episode VIII will have a decent focus on same guy. In actual news though, an image has been released of the power trio, it's nothing really, other than Rey's sporting a new hairstyle. ... I like it. |

Yeah well joke's on you, the Sith are already gone before The Force Awakens, Snoke's not even a Sith and the Knights of Ren are something different, so ha!

Canon wise, sure the Sith are gone. But canon gets so messy...
It's either that or what Luke meant by the Jedi needing to end was going Gray...hmm? Possibility that Rey won't be a Jedi, but a Gray? Jedi and Sith are the extremes of the Force, where as the Gray are a combination of the two...more or less. I'm grossly understating it, but yeah, you get the idea.

I think it would be a really interesting throwback to the diehard EU fans to bring the Grey Jedi into the mix... but its a bit late in the game to be instituting such an unknown. Qui-Gon was a grey but it was never mentioned in the Movies - just stated that he didn't get along with the Jedi Council all the time. I don't think they will actually use the term grey jedi but we'll see, as I said it would be interesting.
Im more interested to see who Is piloting the Falcon - the trailer still showed chewie in his traditional Co-pilots seat... but if they follow form and have Rey gone for half the movie, like Luke was in Empire, then that means someone else is being trusted with the Falcon - and we all know Finn cant fly. Is it to much to hope for that Poe gets a turn with the legendary smugglers ship?!
