Hi, I am considering writing on JvS, I used to write here but I don't really want to say who at the moment because I want to keep out of ooc stuff. Just to say I didn't get banned or hounded off for being a pg'er or gm'er, I just drifted away when it moved to proboards and couldn't get back into this when I tried last time. I haven't designed my character because I have written pretty much everything from ewok to sith to jedi to mando before and right now I am curious as to what type of characters the site needs more of. So any suggestions of where to start? I can write as a man or woman or droid.
I can't post daily, because my boss will shout at me if I log on at work.

That is quite an impressive resume, I must say. After what...10 plus years here, I don't think I have encountered many who can write as part of a diverse group of characters. At least, from those I know. Anyways, I shall open the floor up to my fellow Advocates. They seem to have a better grasp on what we need for characters than I do.

I think everyone is fairly equally needed. Though, I believe there are some splinter groups sprouting from the Alliance soon (Tapani, CIS, Fed Dub) that might be looking for people. Also the Eternal Empire. Jedi Order. First Order and Blackguard are pretty well stocked right now  |

Honestly, I, and speaking only from what I see, don't think we need more or less of any type of character. We have Knights of Ren, Imperial Knights, the First Order, the Alliance, the Jedi, the Sith, Mandos, Pirates, Mercenaries, and more. So its not really that we need more of any one group. The real question is there anything you'd like to write. From the most typical of characters to something a bit different and unusual.
Don't want that to sound like we don't want you, because we do! If your not certain about what kind of character you'd really have fun writing, through out some ideas and I'd be more than happy to help out formulating some for of plan.
As an example, I've been thinking about making a character who left the Jedi simply because he/she felt the Jedi weren't fully living up to the responsibility of protecting and aiding the innocent and helpless. As such, this character was meant to be a robin hood style mercenary with a bit of a comic side.
Another thought was forming vigilante similar to Spider-man, using whips and such to get around. A kind of serious, yet over the top kind of persona maybe.
Just some random ideas for fun.

I would definitely scope around some of the major threads, which I can't find and post due to me being on mobile. Just ask in threads and PM people. We are friendly to approach, even that nasty Sith called Viox Savage. Just tell him I said that... oh wait said that publicly.
Any idea where you wanna set yourself up or what sort of character you plan to write?

First off, I'm only nasty IC. Second, I find myself very approachable for things like this.
Now, from the alarming amount of males answering this post, I daresay we could use a few more badass females around here. Wouldn't you agree, Luxeria?

Lux, that definitely gives me lots to think about. Some great ideas that you. Love a good vigilante and the Robin Hood type group sounds cool.

Hmm, I guess we could have a few others. Lux doesn’t have that much competition anyway. 😝
To me, the key to creating a character is less about what’s needed, unless you want to make multiple characters, is to make something you’d really want, especially when it has a unique spin on it

Auri Yuuzhan Vong characters are almost non existent and can prove to be a very interesting perspective to write from. Even if it's one that doesn't abhor technology so much as distrust it. Further more, you still have a wide array of options available to you for character path. (Including the enhanced warrior/shaper pseudo force user) You're welcome to write anything you'd like, as we've said already, I just thought I'd add another angle for you to consider. Whatever you choose, and whomever you're with, happy writing and good hunting.

Thank you to everyone that helped, as you can see from my profile I have got my character set up, just now getting ready to take her steps into the universe.
I have other character ideas too though so I may be expanding if I have the time.
