It had been several months since The Hammer had appeared back out of hyperspace above Felucia to find the aftermath of the Sith attack. The Gannon Cannon was a floating scrap heap, its crew either evacuated or killed in action. The story on the surface had not been much better. The Jedi Base had taken a beating. The hangar bay looked as if a concussion missile had gone off inside of it, while the front entrance had been given two additional openings. The rest of the Temple was a mess of bodies and damaged components where sithspawn had been running loose.
It had been a pretty hard blow to take after he and Serenity Sage had just come back from rescuing several kidnapped Padawans and Younglings. But they had pushed on, helping the survivors to safety. The construction of the new Temple had provided ample distraction and something for them to focus working toward. In between overseeing various aspects of the new archives construction, he had worked with several Masters to get the recovering converts seen to. Healing their wounds and guiding them back toward the light. As if that were not enough, he was also keeping himself busy tracking down various artifacts, and attending to Serenity's overall training with the help of some Master Jedi HealersRawkill stood close to the window of the observation window that overlooked the ward set aside for the former Padawans and Younglings that had been rescued from Nar Shaddaa. Despite how much time had passed, many of them still bore wounds that time had not yet managed to heal. Most of those that remained had been some of the longest held captive. A thought that still wounded him, knowing that they had been careless enough to ignore the disappearance of several students.
But what was done, was done. He could not change the past. But he could make the future a better place for those that had been rescued. His gaze settled upon Red then, as she walked the ward. He reached up and pressed the speaker buttonSerenity... Can I borrow you for a moment?

It was a lot to take in. The seventeen year-old had been beyond shocked to find the devastation that awaited them back home upon their return, with the successful rescue of all the kidnapped Younglings and Padawans. The Jedi, her friends, her home, had been violated, and they were now rebuilding. But it was not a rebuilding of the old base. Instead, they were building a temple, and in the months, she began to flourish under Rawkill's tutelage, as well as the other masters, who soon discovered her talent for healing, of both the mind and the body.
She was considerably weaker in the Force than some, but what she lacked in talent or ability, she made up with her cunning and her old ways from years of surviving on both Raxus Prime and Nar Shaddaa, two very unpleasant places for any young person to grow in.
A great deal of her time was now spent in the Medical Wing, where she helped the other Healers to look after the various wounded, as well as some of the rescuees that was brought back from Nar Shaddaa, still reciding in the halls. Red still spent her free time volunteering work at the shipyards or doing mechanic work, when she wasn't in her quarters, tinkering with junk or droid parts. She managed to recommission a battered and damaged R2-series astromech droid and a number of buzz droids left over from the Clone Wars.
Rawkill's voice pulled her out of her reverie, and she quickly made her way over to the Ewok Jedi Master, bowing her head a little in greeting, “I'm always free for you, Master Rawkill,” said the girl, “what is it?”

As Red made her way to him and answered, he gave a smile up at her. She was fast becoming one of his favourite apprentices. Each obstacle presented to her was just another challenge to complete. Her progress in the last few months had impressed him and proven she was a capable student I am proud of you Serenity... You have come a long way in a short time... If you keep this up, you'll be a Jedi Knight before you know it. I'm proud to call you a student of mine... However, I did not ask you here to merely praise you... I wanted to see you before I head out... A new artifact has surfaced and I need to make sure we keep it out of the hands of the Ren, or worse, the Sith...

“Of course, master,” said Red, “What is this artifact that's turned up?”
She was pleased to know she was making progress and met the approval of the masters, but she was careful not to take pride. It struck her as counterproductive. More importantly, there was just so much to be done, she hardly had the time to pause and admire any work, except to move on to the next. Now Rawkill appeared to be headed out to another task. Was he going to bring her along?

Rawkill took a seat, patting the chair next to him for Red to sit down next to him. His gaze turning back to the ward below A holocron from the Eternal Empire... If the stories are to be believed... Such items could spell doom for the galaxy if they end up in the wrong hands... Which is why I must leave to find it. And why I am entrusting the care of these Padawans to you... They will be your charges from here on....

Red felt a surge of warmth, a maternal love for the Padawans and Younglings who were traumatized by their experiences. She also felt a hint of alarm when she was told by her master that she was going to be left to look after them. No doubt she rarely had to consult the masters or knights on what to do, but she knew how to ask when absolutely necessary or crucial. Still, she had a good head on her shoulders and a fair bit of common sense. She also worried for her master, even though she trusted in his ability in the Force, the darkness she felt that surrounded him when he slew the Sith woman made her wake up in cold sweat some nights. There was more to it, she was certain. Not that she thought little of his skills, but it almost felt...deliberate, when the woman died. She couldn't put her finger on it, and when he ventured out on his own, she wasn't sure he would come back, or if he did, he would not be the same.
She settled down beside him upon invitation, and looked keenly at him. “I will watch over them as I have done,” said Red, “will you be going alone?”
Part of her wanted to go along with the Ewok Jedi Master, but she would do her duty as was given to her. Her peers, her fellow Padawans and Younglings, they needed constant care, supervision and comfort. There were many who were also dealing with the trauma of the invasion some months back. There just wasn't enough Healers to go around, more so the Healers of the mind. It was why she offered not even a token of protest to Rawkill when he made no invite for her to join. Furthermore, it was determined that her strength in the Force was either waning or weak to begin with excepting her talents in healing. She would be almost no use in a battle or any other situation aside from mending wounds.

Rawkill had heard of her nightmares, and could sense the conflict within her even now. Nar Shaddaa had changed her, changed how she looked at him. A fact which he did not blame her for. After all, he had killed someone even if they were a Sith. She might be a talented healer, but Red was not a warrior. Which was why he was glad she agreed to stay behind and look after the padawans. He then did something he had not done in a long time. He stood up upon the seat and pulled Red in to a hug, his arms just long enough to reach around her shoulders, but not meet behind her Your concern is touching... But no, I will not be going alone... I will be meeting some of my former Padawan's there... He pulled back from the hug then, his paws resting upon her shoulders still as he remained at arms length You have made me proud Serenity... And I know you will continue to do so...

She was relieved to know Rawkill had backup. He said Padawans. She wondered just how old the Ewok was, and how many students had he taught besides her. Then she was taken by surprise, when he stood up and pulled her into a hug. So that was what it felt like to be hugged by a teddy bear. She returned the embrace readily, showing no surprise, though she felt it inside. His fur was so soft and she wouldn't have suspected how deadly he could be if she only lived in this very moment.
“Thank you, master,” said Red, “and may the Force be with you.”

And may it be with you as well... Now I must be off... He gently patted her cheek, before dismounting from the seat and giving a bow to Serenity Until we meet again... He turned around then and headed out of the hospital wing, making his way toward the hangar bay where his ship was waiting

There was always plenty to do in the Medical Wing, even after the shock and recovery period from the invasion and all that transpired amongst the Jedi here, but Red was never short on tasks or being needed for one thing or another. Her final instruction from Master Rawkill, she took with religious fervour if only to take her mind off her own loss, mainly of her immediate master, the one who had promoted to the rank of Padawan. She couldn't help feeling sad, and wanting to know more of the details that surrounded his demise, but part of her shied away from actually investigating, fearing what she might learn.
She seldom shared her troubles or concerns, but eventually she might, because the dreams and visions were becoming more gruesome and insistent. She was beginning to sleep less and meditate more. She was tired, but kept her mind focused on her tasks, if only so she wouldn't have to think about that which kept her up at night.

*The Medical Wing was a bit more sterile than the rest of the Temple... or at least, the places Roma had been to so far. It looked just like the images on Uncle Jake's datapad, down to the displays on the walls, the artworks of medical significance and monitors displaying various tidbits. Tidbits Mama had to explain to her; one of the first things she needed to learn was how to read.
Mama had told her they were going in for a "medical evaluation," which they had talked about with Jake before. She explained that everyone had medical records, which were helpful to doctors in case of any problems or emergencies. Jake met them in the reception area, and Roma happily ran up to hug him. He reminded her that he didn't have the credentials to run the evaluation, but that he could still join them and help ease Roma's mind.
Fortunately, the healer that saw to her had a very calming presence, as well as being very patient with Roma as she explained the process to her. The girl was inquisitive but also quite nervous; she still barely understood machinery, and the cold lifelessness of it all didn't exactly make her feel comfortable. She managed to calm herself by focusing on the droid, who, despite being mechanical, still fascinated her. The idea that sentient beings could create other beings with intelligence of their own was nothing short of amazing to her. Sure, she'd met Bolt, but he was an astromech who spoke in beeps; this one spoke clear—if not somewhat-garbled—Basic.
They scanned her. They physically examined her. At one point, they pricked her skin to "inoculate" her; that was the part she hated the most. In the end, she was deemed perfectly healthy, and the healer even seemed impressed considering all six years of her life were spent out in the "unprotected" jungle.*
"But Mama and Rush protected me," *she reasoned, until Jake explained what they had meant by that.
The lengthy process concluded with the creation of her records, a copy of which was given to Mama. The healer thanked Roma for being a "good patient," wishing her a healthy life. Roma politely thanked her before recollecting her things, slinging her weapons over her shoulder and giving Jake one last hug before taking Mama's hand and letting her lead the way out.*

It was known that focusing too much on a datapad whilst walking was always a bad idea, especially in a medical facility with people walking in and out at any given time. Red learned this the hard way, despite her own cautiousness, and being attuned to the Force, when she stepped directly into the path of a mother and her child, who were hand-in-hand together.
“Oh,” exclaimed Red in a soft voice, as she lowered her datapad hastily and shifted to avoid an actual collision, “I apologize...I wasn't watching where I was going...” she frowned a little when she saw the mother. Her features seemed familiar to her. “Are you related to Master Calmcacil?”

*Mama came to a stop and put a hand on Roma's shoulder just a split second before Roma stopped herself. The young lady in front of them apologized for almost running into them, to which Mama immediately shook her head and replied,* "No, it's alright." *The lady then asked if they were related to Master Calmcacil, leaving Roma to wonder how the lady knew that. Then again, many people told her that she looked a lot like her mother; maybe Mama looked like Grandpa in some way...*
"Yes, actually," *Mama replied, nodding.*
"He's my grandpa!" *Roma said excitedly.*

Red's eyebrows arched with interest, and a small smile played on her lips. She of course, knew Master Calmcacil through reputation and holos she'd seen of him here and there, if not when she passed him by in the halls and corridors of the temple, but there was always so much to be done these days, she'd certainly not had a chance to hold a conversation with most people, if anything else. “It's nice to meet you both, then,” said Red quietly, and she inclined her head slightly in a sort of bow, “I'm called Red. My full name is Serenity Sage, but I do actually prefer Red. It's apt, and simpler.”
She glanced over the heads of the two people before her and felt a slight moment of dizziness, which cleared away quickly once she blinked her eyes a few times, “Terribly sorry,” she said again, “I know the Force is strong in your family, but I just felt overwhelmed for a moment. Your spirits are strong.”
She looked down at the young girl and smiled at her, it wouldn't be too long before she'd probably be looking up at the girl, given her own diminutive build, and offered an added explanation, “When I see your...grandpa, or when I'm near him, I get dizzy if I look at him. I see things around him, and it's often overwhelming. It seems to run in your family, because I see them around you both too.”

Aerandir CalmcacilSerenity SageThe door to the medical facility whooshed open and a hover gurney carrying an unconscious male in his fifties was ushered in. The medical droid who had been on hand and first to arrive at the scene that had taken place on the temple steps informed the staff that the man appeared to be medically sound and thus the droid was a little bamboozled by this. However trained humanoid professionals were acutely aware of the human mind and psyche and a medical droid designed to be first on the scene was only by and large trained to locate physical problems with a patient. They thanked the droid and then went about sedating the man and making him as comfortable as possible. It was clear he had experienced a hugely traumatic event, for now they would simply let him rest and allow his body and mind to begin to attempt to heal. When he woke they would place on hand a medical advisor experienced in the counciling and the human mind, events such as this were rare but not unheard of, being a Jedi could be a hugely stressful responsibility and job, that said judging by the man's age and thus assumed experience the cause of stress would have to be investigated more thoroughly as it was doubtful the usual rigours were not what had led to the Jedi's collapse and mental withdrawal from the world. Once the patient was settled and a dripmhas been administered to ensure his fluids were kept topped up they left him in a quiet comfortable corner of the medical wing to rest.

Aerandir Calmcacil Serenity SageIt was after almost a weeks rest Steffo's medication was lessened bringing the Jedi out of the heavily induced sleep the team had in that time pulled up the relevant data and personal files on the Jedi and as such had put in message to the Grandmaster himself, for as busy as Aerandir would be the medical professionals believed it would help ground the Jedi if he indeed saw and met with someone whom he knew in this way Aerandit could act as an anchor, for much would have changed since Steffo last saw active service, his file currently still had him as missing presumed deceased so yes they needed to give him as many constants as possible and minimum change for it would surely take months of adjustment or him to come to terms with.

Red conducted her routine inspections for the patients in care here.
She paused a moment when she noticed the man, and checked his datapad, quickly reviewing his condition and what treatments were applied to him. “Good day, Master Rancis.” She said casually, not really expecting a response, given the volume of sedation he was under.

Over the next course of months Steffo was permitted to leave the medical Wing and began venturing out to the gardens and exploring the academy. He continued light duties as was advised by the medical team but did not perform anything more exerting than light exercise. However as the weeks rolled on the advice and guidance he was under altered and changed to develop and promote a full recovery.
He couldn't help but feel an overwhelming feeling if emotion for the staff and the help he had received but this was his final day as a patient. Following from here he was expected to see and pursue a return to full duties.
He thanked the staff and took one last glance at the medical room that had been his port in a storm for what seemed a lifetime and then nodding a somber but hope filled farewell he departed the medical wing.

[ Serenity Sage a.k.a. Red | Medical Wing | Jedi Temple | Felucia ]Stepping into the Medical Wing, Red ran through her routines. Most of the Padawans and Younglings that she helped rescue with Master Rawkill had made recoveries and returned to a normal life. At least, as normal as they could get. Many would be forever scarred by whatever they experienced or witnessed while in captivity.
One in particular might well be a long-term resident or even permanent resident here, and it made Red sad. Her skills in healing were focused more on the body. The mind was a far more complicated matter that she wasn't willing to delve into just yet until someone finally took notice of her and considered giving her some actual training. But until then, she carried on her duties as she'd last been instructed to perform.
“The Force bring you back to us, my friend.” She whispered softly to the patient lying in a comatose state at the far end of the long-term care unit.
Having finished her rounds, she returned to her station to run through the list of patients and did a supply check.
