Order of the Temple of Karabor “An adherence solely to the light is the same as one to the dark. Too far one way, and you lose perspective”Honorifics: Knights of Karabor, Karabor Knight The Knights of Karabor were founded on the world of Talus by Zion Morviael under a simple guiding principle: That the galaxy demanded balance. But not in the traditional sense that the Jedi viewed it. Whereas they believed that balance was achieved by wiping out all Sith and dominating with the Light. Zion viewed this as an inherent ideological mistake. For just as the Sith's devotion to the Dark upset the balance of the galaxy, so too did the Jedi's devotion to the Light. And thus the Knights of Karabor were borne. While they do not worship any aspect of the Force as a divine entity, they do respect the embodiment's of both the Dark and the Light. However, their own focus is upon a more neutral aspect of the Force. To that end, they believe in training and keeping one's thoughts from being clouded by any one side of the Force. Owing to where the Temple of Karabor exists, the Knights primary area of influence and operation is within the Federation of the Double Worlds. But will work alongside forces within the Corellian Coalition. When in Public, Members are typically referred to by the title of Knight and then their first or last name, unless their have been bestowed the title of Master. In which case they are referred to as Master and then their first or last name. When in Private however, Members will greet one another as Brother or Sister and then that person's first name. How someone joins the groupIC: The Knights of Karabor can be found on Talus, the capital of the Federation of the Double Worlds. One simply has to be inducted by a Master of the Order, to be allowed to be trained. OOC: Shoot a PM to Zion Morviael, or drop a post here, and we can certainly plan something out for getting you onboard. Hierarchy of the Order of the Temple of KaraborGrand Master: Zion Morviael [RETIRED] MasterThe rank of Master is bestowed upon only a small handful of members within the Knights of Karabor. This is due to the fact that it is a ceremonial title more than it is recognition of a Knight's skill. Their primary focus is to administer the organization, dealing with assessing potential candidates to join the Order, and promoting Squires to Knights. KnightThe rank of Knight makes up a vast majority of the membership of the Knights of Karabor. After a Squire completes their training, a Master or another Knight may bestow upon them the title of Knight. Once granted the rank of Knight, they are presented with 3 groups into which they will fit into. While it is possible for someone of sufficient skill to fall into multiple categories, they will ultimately belong to one of the following ranks: PaladinPaladin's are the primary fighting rank that a Knight can choose to pursue. Here they are trained in various weapons combat depending upon their preference, as well as starfighter combat, and the proper enforcement of the laws of Coalition Member worlds. CrusaderCrusader's are a mix between Paladin's and Mystic's. They prefer to come up with ingenious solutions to situations that a Paladin might be too brutish for or that a Defender might handle with too much delicacy. They teach themselves to use unconventional tools and skills not particularly related to the Force. Artisans, investigators, recruiters, slicers, mechanics. They were a mix bag of interests. MysticMystic's sought to explore more the mystical aspect of the Force. They preferred not to draw their weapon unless given no other option. Their primary focus was upon diplomacy, research, healing, and applications of the Force. SquireSquires are the most basic rank within the Order. Most new recruits within the Order begin their training as Squires, where they typically train under the guidance of a Knight or Master. Unlike many Orders, training within the Knights of Karabor is a one-on-one experience, although Knights are not disallowed from taking up to Two or Three Squires. SentinelsThe Sentinels of Karabor are specially constructed droid bodies that are operated by Shards. Their main duty is to defend the grounds of the Temple of Karabor. However, they will occasionally be taken out on missions to assist the Knights when backup is needed. Only Shards may join this branch of the Order of the Temple of Karabor. Temple GuardsThe Temple Guards are a special branch of the Knights of Karabor that anybody can join. Much like the Sentinels, their primary purpose is to defend the Temple of Karabor. However, they also carry out duties as Guards to high ranking members of the Order who leave the Temple Grounds. They take up white bladed crossguard sabers and a standard set of armour to easily identify who they are and what they do. Greetings travelers, It's Zion Morviael. It's taken a little while to get things to this point, but here I am. Hit a lot of snags with motivation and time, but finally getting back into a good groove. To that end, I present the Karabor Knights.
A group that I've been brainstorming about creating for a little while now and which fit in nicely with the current climate of the site. I hope you enjoy the read on what they're about.
I'm imagining this group to be fairly small in member numbers, but if it gets enough interest, that may very well change. But at least until that point arrives, it will be somewhat like a chivalric order, with it's membership considerably limited compared to say the Jedi, Sith, etc.
feel free to ask any questions you have.

Hmm, this looks interesting. Might have to make a new character for this.

I am intrigued as well.
How powerful are you planing this order to be? Will it have a fleet and armies, or will it be more of small teams/single agents?
Also, what is their end goal?

Honestly, their initial start out is going to be more independent/small teams in nature. Not likely to be leading massive armies or fleets. As mentioned, I kind of envision them being more like a chivalric Order. Their membership is going to be a lot lower than most other Orders. Now, that’s not to say they won’t work alongside system armies and navies should the situation arise.
As to their ultimate endgame, well they don’t have one be all end all plan. Their purpose is to ensure balance. If either one side becomes too powerful, they will act to help even the odds. Right now, their primary focus is to reign in the First Order and the Blackguard. And making sure that people are allowed to as freely as possible live their lives as they choose. Not an easy task to be sure, but a noble cause nonetheless.
Given their ideology, and location, they will work with the Jedi in something of an uneasy partnership. But it’s not something that is going to be pressed on to the point that it starts dividing the faction. Cause that would be a bit of a crappy move.

So, I've decided to have a change of origin for Kalene. Instead of being found on a raided world, I plan to have her be a resident of Talus. This way I can get her rolling much sooner. Hoping to get an intro post up this weekend. If any one of the Knights wants to sense her and seek her out, by all means!

No worries. What ever works for you. Could still run a small raid of our own somewhere if you still wanted that as part of her being found.

I'm fine with Talus. As fun and interesting as being found on a raided planet would be, I was actually thinking about just letting her live a happy, normal life vefore being found and simply asked to join. Step away from the harsh realities, tragedies, and moves of defiance for a simplier approach.

Got a few posts up to set the scene for Kalene. Hopefully, it gives more than a few options for coming to her outside of just feeling her presence and seeking to recruit her. Perhaps somebody wants to just buy some flowers, maybe they seek her out to aid in tending to the gardens (if any are present) within the temple, maybe the discover her power at her shop or over time at the temple. Or then again we can still run with feeling her presence in the city and seeking her out. Just laying out some options that could be more effective in creating stories.

Love those posts btw
Since my character is a bit of a Seer and would likely be guided by her visions to come find you? Is that something you'd be okay with or we could always go with one of your other options.

It doesn't really matter how she is discovered. I just wanted to create some options that could lead from an immediate discovery to one that took a little time.

The Temple does have a rather extensive gardens, so that is definitely a route that could be taken. I leave it to Ashara to decide how she approaches it. Let me know if either of you need any other details.

Could use her ability to see and discover Kalene, but bringing it up with Zion or taking the matter into her own hands, seeks her out and asks about tending to the gardens in order to both observe her and get her acquainted to the temple and those within before ever asking her to join up. Kinda a mix of the two.

@kalene, Ashara, @apocryphon Kalene already knows about this, but I wanted to get your guys thoughts on this as well. After some discussion in chat about various ships, I came up with the idea of the Knights managing to acquire a Lucrehulk that they would stock with TIE/lf's and U-Wings, as a kind of mobile base/faction ship. Still trying to figure out the logistics of how it would be acquired, but much of the crew requirements and such could be explained away as being filled by Coalition/FedDub personnel. Thoughts? Opinions?

I say let's do it, mate. Go big or go home. Acquisition, though? Still drawing a blank. I'll shoot you a message if any lightbulbs go off.
That said, I hope you don't mind, but I'm all landed at the Temple and ready to rock whenever you are.
