*They were ruins amidst the tundra where he stood now. The wind whipped through the silent section of the city where stunted piles of gorse or other hardy vegetation worked to reclaim the spot. The sun hung watery in the sky, zenith for this planet. He bent down and let his long fingers shift around the rubble and the snow.
Nenyave'do Vornmatil was a Calnennore searching for answers. Like the Nole, learners, he had left on Thyferra, this was his first mission into the greater galaxy, away from Gaeren III in the Unknown Regions. His fingers brushed against a shattered crystal and he sighed. While these ruins had called to him, there was nothing here to give him answers.
At least the exile buried upon Obroa-Skai was still in her tomb. Still alive in her tomb. While this exile was certainly not the oldest, her living presented an odd sense of doom to Vornmatil. She had been buried long before he was born, and he was beginning to feel his age now. If she could still awaken, would the years hit her hard, or would she return to being the terror that she was?*
"What causes one so great as you to break, Romen?" *He had sat beside the sarcophagus for several hours, looking in at the face and talking out loud. He simply had shook his shaggy blue head and come to investigate the ruins nearby. Those who could wield the Nen had lived in this place once. Much like the Roche on Gaeren, he assumed. A place to learn and congregate.
He stood again and turned to head for his ship, only now there stood another man in his path. Vonrmatil hid his surprise with a wide smile. He had not felt the presence of this individual approach, but aliens are sometimes hard to identify if you are not used to them. He waved a gloved hand towards the stranger in greeting.
The stranger appeared to have a similar body type to his own: bipedal, tailless, etc. He was garbed in thick clothes, perhaps to keep out the chill. Vornmatil himself was garbed lightly, cold did not bother him. He could not see the man's face, as it was perhaps covered against the biting wind. Vornmatil maintained his smile, but approached cautiously, calling,* "Hello!" *in Galactic Basic. It was heavily accented, like his tongue was made for a more fluid speech, sing song and resonant. Basic felt thick around his tongue every time he used it.
The stranger did not return his hello, but stood as if frozen to the ground. Vornmatil halted and scanned the area around them. There seemed to be no transport nearby save for his own ship, a transport of Calnennore design. Perhaps the stranger had come from the ruins?
~Thank you for finding her, comrade.~ *It took Vornmatil a moment to realize the stranger spoke Lalambe, the Calnennore language, his language. He was not expecting it. To top it off there was a hint of disdain and malice coming along the message there. Vornmatil slid into an easy crouch and reached for the sword at his hip.
Laughter from the stranger bubbled up muffled by his facial coverings.* ~Oh how wonderful, a disciple of Ve'Do Jings.~ *He pushed aside his heavy cloak to show off his own sword of a similar design, though no less individual.
Vornmatil raised an eyebrow towards the stranger allowing his presence of mind to drift towards this man in order to better understand who he might be.* ~Who are you?~
*The stranger drew his sword and swept back his heavy cloak in one fluid motion.* ~I believe I was once called Earn Tintaursil. But that was long ago. I go by Aydyn now.~

As the shuttle landings were completed, over ten thousand Australis troopers fanned out into Obroa's major cities. Some had come in earlier on civilian transports, joined by the thousands of men and women on the shuttles. Quickly, the soldiers took control of the mechanisms of government, the judiciary and the military high command. It was a bloodless coup, and in most cases the Obroans were only too happy to cooperate with the soldiers.
Orders were sent back and forth between commands, and after some arguing and even direct threats, resistance at the political level ceased, and business quickly returned to normal. Liasons were set up between local commanders and Clan personnel, integrating members of Clan Australis into key organizations, while keeping the framework and hierarchies largely intact. Day-to-day life on Obroa-skai continued as normal.
Within weeks of the landing, the planet had come under the control of Mandalorian Clan Australis. The planetary governor actually kept his job, understanding that he was now beholden to Kaine, though still almost entirely responsible for the world and its people as before. The world had lost only its autonomy, but gained new allies and protectors. The alternatives of empire or republic weren't terribly attractive to the Obroans, who welcomed becoming a Mandalorian protectorate as a pleasant change. Time would tell whether it truly was a blessing, or a curse. For now, life returned to normal for the people of Obroa-Skai.

In a field near the capital city, Australis commandos, doing a regular patrol of the surrounds, caught sight of the three massive weapons floating down onto Obroa's capital city. One fellow, a Sullustan, exclaimed on seeing the unusual airdrop.
Way'ii, you don't see that every day.
His partners looked up and took in the view. The nearest growled approvingly from behind his buy'ce, outing his Wookiee heritage. The other muttered in Keldabe accented Basic.
Get used to it ner vod. Our aliit'alor means business. Maybe now we can hand these librarians off to the Skiratas or the Ordos, and get on with causing grief for our enemies. This garrison duty is getting old. I can feel myself getting fat.
Hey, the Obroans aren't so bad. Could be worse. At least it's not Myrkr.
Give me vornskrs trying to eat me and who knows what else about to jump out of the jungle at you every five minutes over this.
Neither one of them could be sure, but it seemed their Wookiee companion managed a word in Mando'a
Dini'la...
The wookiee vod's buy'ce translation software took over for the rest.
You can come home with me next time, brother. A week on Kashyyyk will cure your madness!
That only encouraged Ori-Vun.
Oya! Now you're talking, vod.
Dul groaned. Now he'd never get any peace.

As the ships made their descent, they began to break from their formation and land in different parts of the city. Ordo colonists started to spill forth from the ships, unloading supplies and their personal belongings. New warriors for the local garrison also unloaded and headed to check in on their new living quarters and take over from the Australis forces that had initially taken control of the world. With Australis already having set up a working system, the Ordo settlers did nothing to change that, merely replace their fellow the Australis Clan Members in the positions they had and would be leaving vacant

Life on Obroa-Skai had continued as it always had. There had been groups that had tried to rise up, claiming that the Mandalorians were nothing but war mongers and would leave the world a ravaged wasteland. But thus far, that had been nothing more than a simple lie. The Ordo colonists had in fact worked to do much the opposite. With Ordo warriors now patrolling the streets, the crime rate had lessened since their arrival. That wasn't to say it didn't still exist. But people felt safer in the streets and their homes. New Librarians and Workers were also tasked with updating and maintaining the Celebratus Archive. The largest known repository of information the Galaxy over. New Doctors and Nurses were also sent to work and train at the Aurora Medical Facility. It would serve as the lead Medical Facility within the Mandalorian Assembly, with its techniques and technologies being shared amongst the other Medical Facilities located throughout Mandalorian Space

Olminix Ordo stepped foot off the cruiser that ran from Ordo to Obroa-Skai. Marvelling at the skyline just beyond the transparisteel window within the spaceport terminal. Even from here, he could see the Obroan Institute for Archaeology building, the spires of the Museum of Applied Photonics, and the Aurora Medical Facility complex. But most important of all, to him at least, was the Celebratus Archive building. Which towered above all the rest.
He had come to Obroa-Skai to study the vast archives and use the knowledge contained within towards new technology for the Manda'ade. His dream, was to one day work at MandalMotors or MandalArms. Designing and engineering the latest technology for his Vod. So they would once more be strong and reclaim the title they lost, when Ashrah waged his foolish crusade against all Force Users.
Olminix made his way through the spaceport, to the waiting taxi air speeders, to get to the Archives...

Obroa-Skai Institute for Archaeology
*Two Ro'ik chuun m'arh set down and deployed all three Scourge from each frigate. The warriors of the group then went about eliminating any hostiles and securing the building for occupation. The Yuuzhan Vong had returned. And their conquest of Obroa-Skai had just begun. Soon word would spread of their resurgence. And hopefully they would be met with resistance. Yun Yammka demanded it. And so, Warmaster Krul would oblige. This was only the beginning.*

*Two Ro'ik chuun m'arh set down and deployed all three Scourge from each frigate at the museum. Yuuzhan Vong warriors flooded out of the ships and began securing the area. Rounding up civilians and eliminating security guards and law enforcement officers. With the Institute for Archaeology already having been secured, and the securing of the museum underway, the planet was swiftly falling under control of the Yuuzhan Vong.*

*With the Institute of Archaeology and the Museum of Applied Photonics secured, the invasion of Yuuzhan Vong quickly swept to the Celebratus Archive and the Aurora Medical Facility, securing both and eliminating any resistance found there. With both the planet secured as well as orbit above, the Yuuzhan Vong Empire had a foothold within this galaxy once more...*

*Normal life for the Yuuzhan Vong became a thing on Obroa-Skai. That is, until word of invaders in orbit reached the forces on the ground. Digging in and preparing for combat, in case the fleet failed, the Yuuzhan Vong would not give up Obroa-Skai easily...*

Transports streamed down to the surface from the Ordo First Fleet, allowing Clan Ordo forces to once more set foot upon Obroa-skai. Olminix Ordo was amongst their number, having been forced to flee the world previously when the Yuuzhan Vong had invaded. Now, he was back with his Vod to reclaim Obroa-skai and its vast banks of knowledge. Naastar TIE Fighters, Oya'karir TIE Fighters, Fang Fighters, and Vyrhawk Fighter-Bombers dropped down into the atmosphere, providing aerial support to the landing parties to clean up and thoroughly clear out any Vong forces or biotech that still remained after the battle that had happened here. It would just be a matter of time for Clan Ordo to re-secure the surface once more and get people returning here

The reclamation efforts upon Obroa-Skai went off almost effortlessly. The few pockets of hostile forces that had remained upon the surface were wiped out and their corruption was cleansed. Supplies and materials from Ordo streamed in, allowing the reconstruction efforts to be expedited. Soon enough, settlers from Ordo were permitted to return to the world once more and assist with its recovery

As week after week passed, Obroa-Skai was returned to it's former glory. Buildings were repaired, parks rebuilt and tended to, and a number of new barracks and military bases were erected. Ordo Military Forces alongside Mandalorian Defense Corps forces were posted here to maintain peace and provide security for the world. Business was starting to resume it's usual and regular march forward

The library world of Obroa-skai was prosperous and peaceful. Diplomatic contacts between local authorities and the Inner Rim Imperium had gone well. Obroa-skai's planetary government had nominated one of their chief Librarians to the High Council. Master Adasca's holomessage to all invited worlds had gone down very well among the citizens of the Obroa system. As with many of the Inner Rim worlds, once they saw the IRI to be a legitimate organization, and not just some Mandalorian plot, they were receptive to the concept of promoting peace and free trade within the sector.

Continued from Open Orbit.Hurtling down through the atmosphere, the hull outside the cockpit module of the Garbage Hauler grew orange as its rapid descent super-heated its exterior. Some of the remaining toxic filth leaking out of its hull, trailing behind like a brown liquid contrail, became agitated by the building temperature. Some of the chemical content caught fire and ignited behind the racing bulk freighter, casting a fiery deluge over everything beneath it, transforming some of the acidic chemicals into toxic vapor clouds weighed down towards the city below because of the heavy metals found in the polluted slurry.Snotgrun pulled on the control yoke with all his might, while the other three ranats in the cockpit formed a bridge of verminous furry hands on shoulders, each in turn pulling back on the next to assist the struggling pilot. It made no difference, there was no evening out at this point, the engines were shot. Peeper's beady red eyes went from the viewport to the control console, seeing only the red malfunction error of just about every system. Shields? Gone. Hull integrity? Depleting every second. Repulsor engines? Don't even get me started. Surprisingly life support was still functional, for all the good it would do them as they headed into a crash landing. Or maybe just a crash.Peeper-Squeakers short life flashed before his eyes. He saw himself a young hairless ranat, suckling at the eight teats of a ranat-broodmare, eating his smaller weaker brothers and sisters in an orgy of flesh and fang. He saw his formative years as a member of Clan Mors, digging tunnels and warrens to expand the countless burrows of the Undercity of Rydar II. He saw a future he might never experience, imagining himself as verminlord in service to the Hungering One, master of hordes of his verminous kin. Those images faded as the ground seen through the viewport grew closer. The Garbage Hauler was about to crash into the middle of a populated city. The leader reached over Snotgrun's furry shoulder and placed his own gnarled paw on the yoke, pulling it to the right, causing the bulk freighter to veer slightly to the side, towards a stretch of roadway. It slammed into the duracrete road, its hull shearing at the bottom as it dragged along the ground, still bleeding flaming toxic filth behind it. For near a kilometer it skidded, knocking hover-trucks and landspeeders aside as it scraped along the highway, explosions rippling through the length of the hull. Eventually it slowed, then creaked to a stop, burning and bleeding the last few bits of its fell cargo. The cockpit had crumpled in on itself, the transparasteel viewport a shattered melted wreck. Snotgrun was a charred pile of fur seared into the cracked leather of the pilots seat, while Peeper-Squeaker was a broken mess on the floor, having forgone his crash webbing to redirect the ship towards the road. Amazingly Night-Skritch was alive, the thick furry rolls of rodent flesh from Fat-Gut having served to cushion his own impact. Not so amazingly, the g-forces had squeezed the air from Fat-Gut's lungs, suffocating him to death before the freighter had even crashed. Night-Skritch rolled onto all fours and let out a wet cough, bringing his clawed paw to his mouth and pulling it away to reveal a handful of dark blood. Something in his chest felt loose.Coughing from the toxic smoke filling the length of the ship, which was possibly on the verge of exploding, the single surviving ranat started to crawl towards the rear hatch.

Obroa's emergency response forces, unable to prevent the disaster unfolding on their once peaceful world, were at least rapidly able to respond. Judicials formed a perimiter around the crash site and began overseeing the streams of civilians now fleeing the area, trying to maintain some semblance of order and control.
Overhead, firefighting ships zoomed in, blasting the wreck with coolant and flame retardant foam profligately, blanketing the area, the mist and fog of their work mixing with the pall of toxic smoke rising from the wrecked freighter. Sirens wailed and emergency lights flashed out through the unnatural gloom that quickly built over the crash site.
Kitted out in biochem gear, rescue teams moved in, lifesign detectors active, looking for any survivors. Judicials were on hand at the perimiter to effect any arrests, while seeing to it any survivors recieved proper medical care. Finding out the cause of the atrocity was a top priority to the Obroans, the IRI, and the wider galaxy.

An airlock towards the rear of the downed bulk freighter began to cycle, exterior doors opening with a hydraulic hiss as the interior smoke from fused electronics and damaged systems intermingled with the rich chemical smoke that seemed to obscure the site in the form of a toxic cloud. Night-Skritch was already on borrowed time as he dropped to the ruined road on all fours, having inhaled a good amount of carcinogens and pollutants.
Keeping in mind, ranats have a higher tolerance to such things given their own filthy existence as disease carriers, often living in landfills and toxic sights that most beings would never consider calling home. Even so, his nine year life cycle had probably been at least halved by the amount of poisonous crap he had breathed in.
Hacking blood into a gnarled paw, Skritch looked around the area, squinting his beady eyes to peer through the acrid smoke. He could see the flashing lights and could even hear sirens over the roar of burning freighter. Authorities were already on the scene. Time to put some of that stealth training into action. He looked around for something he could use, or some means of escape. Out in the open, his options were limited, he was far too exposed. Eventually those wicked red orbs settled on a manhole cover.
Only one problem.
One of the first responders kitted out in bio-chem gear was standing on it, seeming to look around the scene while double checking some sort of scanner in his hands. Night-Skritch, patted himself down, only now realizing he wasn't carrying any of his poison knives or throwing shurikens. He chewed on the end of his tail nervously. Ranats typically fought in packs, being all extremely cowardly at heart. There was safety in a verminous horde, whereas above ground and exposed while alone, there was only fear. He would have voided his fear-glands, if they hadn't already been removed, so instead he tensed as he prepared himself for what was to come next.
"Fight or flight." He chittered to himself in rat-speak. "I choose...both."
Springing forward on all fours, Night-Skritch rushed the first responder standing on his only way out, leaping off the ground and into the air. He pounced at the man, thrashing wildly in a furry vortex of sharp claws and gnashing fangs.

The NovaSword Space Superiority Fighter, Talyc Runi(Bloodstained Soul) began its descent to a landing pad at the Aurora Medical Facility. Aboard the Talyc Runi was Henoc and Jick Krutt, they were sent on a medical supply run for their Clan as the storerooms were getting low. Henoc didn't mind doing supply runs like this, he of course would rather be in the thick of things, but this was for the good of the Clan and that was good enough for him. Jick on the hand didn't like the peaceful supply runs at all, he would prefer to be perched somewhere up high and looking down the sights of his rifle.
Once they had landed, Jink stood by the ship and waited for Henoc to finish speaking to everyone they needed to. Henoc handed a data pad over to a pair of workers that were standing by a bunch of crates that were marked as medical supplies. One of the workers took the data pad and began reading it, taking his time while doing so.
Is there a problem?
Nope, everything, appears to be in order. We'll start loading everything, should take more than a few hours, you and your friend are welcome to wait inside.
Thanks, but we'll wait out here with my ship.
The two workers nodded and started their task of loading the supplies onto the ship that had landed a short while ago. Jink watched them closely all the while standing by the ship's exit, Henoc however had moved a few feet away and started to transmit to Clan Awaud's Enclave back on Belkadan to let them know that the supplies were being loaded and that they would be on their way back shortly.

Times were tough all over the galaxy, and on the frontier worlds, and the less glamourous and less well travelled worlds, the economy wasn't what it once was. Obroa-Skai's economy was typically supplemented by tourism, and recently most citizens of the galaxy found that accessing the planet's services remotely made more economic sense. So it was that the military budget was lower than what it should be, which created shortfalls, shortages, and gaps in security.
A ground patrol of the Foreign Legion made its way through one of Obroa's capital city districts. They were reasonably well equipped, though their makeup was eclectic owing to the personnel shortages. Also the patrol which was usually twelve, was down a man because Ethko the Bothan had eaten some McYodas that had been in the fridge about a week longer than was sensible, and he was down sick. Flikx the Jawa was in a foul mood, and the fact none of the others could understand Jawanese was little impediment as he constantly muttered to himself.
(Kriffing patrol duty, I'd have been better off jacking droids with my cousins. Kriffing tall creepy aliens with their wierd clothes. There's hardly even any salvage on this miserable planet. This is no place for a good jawa man.)
Occasionally Flikx would note one of his squadmates giving him a dirty look, and he would look over and give out a hearty sounding "Utini!" which always made the idiots go back to ignoring him, which was fine with him. He carried a sawn off repeating blaster, and while he walked, he fantasized about turning it on the damned tallies and going into business for himself as a great Jawa warlord.
Such was the sort of recruits the Foreign Legion were able to retain and deploy to such worlds as Obroa-skai, which were considered very safe, and a low priority security threat.
