The Training Facilities, within the Imperial Palace, were a major addition, desired by the Emperor. Beyond training rooms for individuals, there locations that are set up for group training, and even rooms for with high tech, all at the disposal of the rank and file of the Imperial Palace personnel, including both the Imperial Knights and the Knights of Ren. These high tech rooms have been augmented with holographic technology to simulate live fire actions and are good for enduring training. The facility is run by a specialized corps of officers, technicians, and personnel that ensure the needs of those who utilize the facility are fulfilled and safety is assured.

Standash made her way around the training facilities. She was making observations of set ups and designs. The influx of recruits had made in necessary to begin expanding the Academy, she was looking for all the advise she could get. Storm troopers to the bulk of the army, and not really the same type of person as the Knights hat trained here, but there were many things to learn. For all the skill and power the two groups of Knights held, it was the storm trooper that was the real might of the First Order. Part of her job was getting the troopers to see that. No better way than to copy things the Knights were doing. Her Moff rank cylinders encouraged the staff to talk with her, even though they would rather not. She was careful not to truly get in the way, but she also made sure she was shown proper respect. As she walked she could hear a room that only contained 2 voices. One was older and experienced, the other belonged to that of a child. Her curiosity peaked at this, what child would be training here. She walked over.

As she walked she could hear a room that only contained 2 voices. One was older and experienced, the other belonged to that of a child. Her curiosity peaked at this, what child would be training here. She walked over. What Standush witnessed was the training of the young heir to the First Order, overseen by the Imperial Knight notable, Brock Ferrum, his uncle. Octavian Delvardus was a boy of ten years now, his training with the Knights having begun, more earnestly, recently. Mirroring that of his twin sister's education with the Ren. The promise was fulfilled by his father, the Emperor, to their mother. One was to join the Ren and follow the path of her mother while the other was to follow the path of the Imperial Knight, reviving the old Fel tradition.
Brock Ferrum was teaching Octavian martial arts, trying to hone the young boy's limbs and train them to get used to the strain and force behind one's muscles. The education set up was to help give a variety of means to combat a foe and not rely solely upon the lightsaber. Right now, Octavian was punching the air, going over exercises that his uncle had gone over before. 'Left and right fists, turn, adjust stance, repeat,' ran through the young mind of the Prince. It was rigorous training, but his father encouraged Octavian to follow his uncle's instructions.
Switching gears, Octavian went about understanding newer stances. As he moved his feet around, one crossed the other and, suddenly, the boy lost balance. Octavian fell on his back, hitting his head slightly. For a moment, the boy fumed at his failure. He had been doing so well just a moment ago!Darn it!Octavian definitely didn't like failing. It made him very frustrated if he even made the slightest mistake.

Looking in, Standash saw the prince training with his uncle. She could relate to Octavian, she was born into a royal family and expected greatness had followed her every moment of her life. Most every part of your life scheduled as a child. Brock, she had a harder time relating too. He was almost the opposite of her. She had grown up with expectations and had to match them. Brock on the other hand had proven himself most of his life, only to realize later in life the nobility in his blood. He set the expectations before they were placed on his shoulders, from her perspective. She couldn't help but be impressed. She quietly stood at the back of the room watch the training. She had wanted to speak to Brock at some point anyway to guest instruct at the Academy anyway. Despite growing up on a peaceful world, she started learning Echani arts very young. It helped her focus. She had gotten good. She couldn't hide her smile as Octavian tripped, she had done the same thing many times at his age,

Despite growing up on a peaceful world, she started learning Echani arts very young. It helped her focus. She had gotten good. She couldn't hide her smile as Octavian tripped, she had done the same thing many times at his age, Octavian took a few minutes to relax his muscles before getting back to his training. While Brock Ferrum oversaw things, an Imperial Knight came up, whispering into the Steward's ear. A curt nod by his head and Ferrum turned to his student, causing the Crown Prince to pause and focus on his master.Octavian, I have a little work that needs my attention. Continue with the practice while I am away. The young boy nods his head and watches as his uncle goes away. The Crown Prince turns back to re-focus his efforts, going with the pattern and routine of the martial arts taught to him the past few days and what Brock wanted him to hone in upon. It was the necessary basics to get his body into shape and routine. There was to be a lot of this in order to turn the young Delvardus into a respected warrior that may, one day, lead the Imperial Knights as both Faina's successor and the successor to the Delvardus Empire.
Octavian follows the motions, recalling everything under his breath.Left... right... left... right... sweep.Octavian was pretty focused to not realize the Moff Thul was in the room.

Standash watches the youth practice the ridged formula he had been given. It brought her back more to her own childhood. Trying to be what others wanted her to be. The ridged thinking of a kata was the perfect metaphor. Brock hadn't done wrong, he had instructed what to do perfectly. The issue was the in Octavian's mind, one she understood greatly. Growing up royal, people assume that you have power and freedom, that doesn't really line up with reality. In reality, you are instructed and told what to do in everything. It is not until you start to understand that, that you become the real leader you are meant to be. Fighting is seen as a formula like everything else. She could see that was the boy's thinking. Formulas are guides, you still had to make it your own for it to truly work. You have too let your body and mind needs to do it. After a bit of watching him struggle, Standash spoke up. How is this strategy working out for you, Prince Octavian?

How is this strategy working out for you, Prince Octavian? The eyes of his father, a color all too familiar, changed slightly to a greyish color at the sound of an unfamiliar person's voice. Octavian turned slightly from where he had been facing to see a woman approach him. She wore an Imperial uniform and flowing blonde hair. His eyebrow went up slightly, causing the young boy to tilt his head. Who was she?It's... uh... a work in progress. The Prince responded as he kept a guarded tone. His father had taught him to keep his guard up. However, Octavian hadn't learned to be subtle about it.Uncle Ferrum says it takes time to... make things... perfect. The boy says, recalling Brock's words. Then, rather suddenly.Who are you?

The dynamics here were flipped from what Standash had grown up with. Growing up, she was the princess, the royal, the one with the respected bloodline, but she was also still a child. As such, she had many influences in her whose practical authority, outweighed her potential authority. They still treated her as royal but carried that power. Here, the roles were changed. The prince was the potential power, her's was the present. The thought made her smile. She directed the smile at the boy. She wasn't flirting, obviously, but few boys could take a smile from her and not get a little red in the cheeks. I am Grand Moff Standash Thul, Princess of Alderaan. It is my pleasure to meet you, Prince Octavian.
Her voice was sweet and respectful of course but also had an air of one worth respecting. She stepped farther into the room, stretching a little, making sure the uniform would let her move as she needed it too. She had made sure of this before, but years of wearing fancy dresses taught her always to check. Once she hadn't and a particularly expensive one of a kind gown now had a large rip up the left leg. It is very important to do exactly as we are told, isn't it?

It almost mirrored that of his father, the Emperor. His uncle, Baltasar, had been teaching him the names of those important figures that were to be respected and who, one day, could advise him as Emperor. The boy recited the names quietly.Grand Admiral Garrick Needa was... Grand Moff of... no... Grand Marshal Thomas Zahn, Grand Moff of the Kuati... Oversector was succeeded by... by...Then it all came together! You're Grand Marshal Zahn's successor! The one who manages the Caridan Academy.Like his sister, Fiora, Octavian was a sharp child and was proving to have a good memory. Then, the prince became confused. What are you doing here though? Aren't you supposed to be managing your Oversector? The Prince asks as he wasn't sure why this Grand Moff was here. Seemingly forgetting the question asked him.

The boy's response brought a genuine smile to her face and a small laugh. She was mpressed at the information he took in. That is true, well done. Most princes don't have that much knowledge on everything at your age. Yes, my previous station was limited to Carida and the Academy there. I still oversee it in a more distant way now. Managing can take many shapes, but the most important thing... She motioned the prince to get closer like she was going to share a secret. The most important thing is finding good people to put under you. This way you can look to the future more. My grandmother taught me that. I am here to see how this training center operates, to see if there are strategies that can be scaled up for the Storm Trooper corps. There are also meetings that I can attend while I am here. I just happened to walk by and see you training. I wanted to meet you.

Octavian was hesitant at first, but slowly walked closer to listen to what Standash had to say. He blinked slightly, looking at the Grand Moff. Her words sounded a lot like his fathers and uncles. He had been told of the uniformity and merit-based promotion that the First Order exemplified and that these ideals, as well as others, were a part of the young Crown Prince's education. You sound a lot like my father.Octavian says, looking at Standash. He says that... that... promote the capable and loyal, do not listen to... honeyed words and... flattery. The boy repeats, slowly, one of the lessons that his father taught, on occasion, to both him and his sister, Fiora. Octavian tilts his head slightly. What? You wanted to meet me? Grand Moff, don't you have more important things to do?Octavian was slightly confused.

She gave the boy a kind smile, one she ould have given a younger sibling had she had any.The most important thing is people, my Prince. Your father has taught you this I am sure, it's in the lesson you just shared. I have good people to handle the important here and now things. They let me focus on the most important things of all... The future. She takes position on the floor, and moves through the kata herself that the Prince was practicing. It flows from move to move, twisting, and turning. She adds spins and a handspring to the repositioning moments, ending in front of the prince. I was focused so much on making sure I followed every instruction perfectly, making sure I never disappointed anyone, that I was failing constantly. I learned that my focus had to be what was happening next. When I shifted my gaze, I no longer worried about mistakes, I was already thinking of solutions. That is your father's Empire. You are a part of that future, so you are important.

I learned that my focus had to be what was happening next. When I shifted my gaze, I no longer worried about mistakes, I was already thinking of solutions. That is your father's Empire. You are a part of that future, so you are important. The words, spoken by Grand Moff Thul, seemed to have caught the attention of the young Crown Prince. The boy was smart, like his sister, but had less of a rebellious streak, if one could say, compared to Fiora. Octavian still had a remarkable intelligence. Imperials are divided on whether the twins inherited such a mind from their father, their mother, their grandfather, or from all of them. Whatever the case, it was quite clear that he was listening to Standash and taking in all her words.
He watched as the Grand Moff changed up his routine with a spin and handspring. Following instructions perfectly led to failure, but changing things up and seeing beyond the process led to newer solutions and less mistakes. Octavian suddenly gave off the deep contemplative look that his father had. It was almost an exact mirror! He then looks up at the Grand Moff.So you are saying is look beyond the box? Look not at the line at my feet but the path ahead? The Prince, becoming so focused, it seemed like he had become an entirely different person. The child-like persona vanished and someone else replaced it. At times, there was a reserved nature of Octavian. Perhaps that came from the weight of responsibility on his shoulder that was slowly coming with every passing year. Perhaps it was the uncertainty with himself who was a mere stone compared to the statue that was his great father. Whatever the case, this had vanished when his mind became focused. What you just said... were you not speaking of father's philosophy of Neo-Imperialism in a ways?

In a way, I think it is at play here. We have to keep moving forward my Prince. The future is simultaneously the lightest and heaviest burden one can bare. It is the only think that matters, for without it the past and present are pointless. But is also weightless, you can correct it. The universe is not individual actions, its not step by step. It is a river, it flows. She sits down and bacons the boy to join her. Have you ever been to Alderaan?

It is a river, it flows. She sits down and bacons the boy to join her.Have you ever been to Alderaan? Maybe this was what his father meant by; 'you must look at how people are capable, not at their birthright. Befriend those with abilities, for they will always be loyal. Those who seek only gains will never be satisfied'. It was a lesson that was repeated many times to him, his sisters, Fiora and Yvaine, and his younger brother, Remus. His thoughts popped suddenly when she presented a question to him. Octavian walks up to Standash Thul, but keeps a respectable distance. No, I have not. Father says that, when my training begins with the Imperial Knights, as I grow stronger and learn, I will get to see the galaxy. Missions will take me beyond the capital and to the whole of the Empire and, perhaps, beyond that.Octavian wanted to see what was beyond Coruscant and where space went. Fiora had gotten in trouble, recently, for going outside the palace. However, he was just down the hall when he heard his father scold Fiora and speak to his sister's friend, Jin Song. The Emperor wasn't cloistering them, he wanted them to be prepared for when they left home. He wanted them to be able to protect themselves and those around them.Father is just worried, I guess... he wants us to be ready. He was pacing, like I never saw before, when Fiora went missing one night.Octavian then refocuses on Thul.Alderaan, you said, right? Isn't that out towards Mon Calamari?

Good job. Yes it is, well New Alderaan anyway. There is a river there I would go to as a girl, maybe a little younger than you. I would watch it for hours. At the top there was a pool fed by a spring. I would make little boats and set them in the pool. I saw that though I couldn't see it with my eye, the water moved in a spiral keeping things in the one place. Small rocks and the like would break it up a bit, altering the pattern little by little. That is where you are, in that pool, moving a little, gaining your footing, trying to find your place. Then seemingly without warning the boat caught the current of the river and was pulled down stream. I would watch this boat steer itself around and over obstacles, following the current. Its current location gone behind it instantly, only forward was important. It was ready. Though Maybe princes aren't like little boats on far off worlds. For one, you will get to see the galaxy that is for sure, my boats were always lost down stream. How about you try your routine again. This time, focus on what is next, not what you are doing.

Octavian wasn't understanding of the story till she got to the meaning of it. His father had said that much of what was taught today would mean something in the future. Lessons of the past would impact the future. And, one day, the tutors would vanish, the mentors would let go, and Octavian would be his own man. Experience would help prepare him, missions would hone his skills, and ensure his path to... destiny. The boy had heard that said many times, that him and his siblings all had their own destinies that were the future.
His younger sister, Yvaine, seemed interested in tinkering with technology, which sometimes caused her lessons with an Imperial Knight tutor to be delayed. His youngest brother, Remus, was still a baby in the arms of his stepmother. However, the child always seemed fascinated with war stories that his uncle, Baltasar, spoke of from time to time. The Emperor believed Remus may, one day, become a commander within the Imperial Military. He had a cousin, Amaris, who was in the Imperial Youth program that helped children become ready for a career as Stormtroopers. All of them had destinies.
Father always says that, one day, he will not be here and we must be ready to guide ourselves.
Octavian states. A saddening thought for the child, knowing that his father would, some day, pass away. It was hard to imagine that. Thul's words brought the young boy out his thoughts and cause an eyebrow to be raised. Focus on what was next, not want he was doing? The prince looked at where he was training before then headed over. His uncle, Brock, had told him to envision an enemy and fight with them. Once his muscles grew stronger, he'd work with actual physical targets, such as combat droids and such. And so, Octavian tried the routine a few times, focusing on what was next, rather than the present.
Left... right... left... right... sweep... punch!
Octavian added in a punching move, striking the air clean. Then proceeded to do it again.
Left... right... left... right... sweep... lunge!
He moved forward, barreling a little before standing back up and continuing his routine.

He is correct...She pauses, choosing her next words carefully.Mostly. He is the Emperor and it is all ultimately on him. He has to guide himself, and trust himself. You will have to do that as well Octavian. But your father isn't alone. He has your uncles, he has generals and admirals, he has Moffs and Grand Moffs, all people he has learned his is able to trust. He counts on us to do our jobs, and advise him. Learn how he choses people, and build your circle. More empires and kingdoms have fallen from bad advisors than bad kings.
She watches him go through the motions, he does better. She watches the pattern form. Still a little ridged, but smoother.Good, let what you have done become past, any mistakes left there. Always moving forward...No matter what, continue forward.Under that thought, she waits for a kick and pushes him in the shoulder a little while he is off balance.

Octavian was too focused on his routine that he didn't realize Standash had made a move to off-balance him. His Force senses went off, but a little too late. The young boy stumble a bit before catching himself about several steps off of where he was before. The Crown Prince looked at the Grand Moff angrily, for a moment, before then was reminded of his uncle's lesson. 'Discipline will ensure control over the Force.' A discipline that would save him from the Dark Side and ensure that the Imperial Knights did not have to kill for falling to the Dark Side. It took a moment, but the angry face phased off. Octavian looks at the practice area and moves back into place.
Father told me that. He said that... you will need a cadre, a circle, that will be your most capable and reliable.
The young prince took a moment to breath. Better that way to speak.
He told me that I should for them in both low and high places. My sister's friend, Jin, is a good example. She is a true friend to Fiora, one that I know my sister will come to rely upon. Even my cousin, Amaris, is finding her circle among the youths of the Stormtrooper Academy. My uncle says she has made friends with rough street kids and connected cadets.
Nicademus hoped that, one day, Amaris or, perhaps, his younger brother, Remus, would become like Baltasar was to the Emperor, a reliable and seasoned commander to serve as a good adviser on military affairs. Some would call this nepotism, but family had its uses if they were capable. The Emperor made sure his son knew that lesson well. Only the capable and talented should be sought, not just those who wanted to be his friends because of connection.
I wonder what my circle will be like... one day...
The young Octavian's mind drifted for a bit, thinking of the future.

Standash frowns a bit at the prince's face. She had pushed him to throw him off so see if he would get stuck on the mess up or move forward and not dwell on it. The look of anger was not one she expected. Her expression was still kind. She listened as he continued his train of thought. She was very happy that it ended with him focused on the future. Maybe he had understood her. You will have options my prince. I can tell you that I plan on sticking around for a while. She winks at him.Finding people that you trust to do what is right is most important, not those that will always agree with you. You're sister would be a fine choice. I am sure she will offer a different perspective from you. You will have your father to lean on as you build your group as well.
