Elis wished more of the middle people she dealt with were like IG-78. The droid was quiet, efficient, and not the least bit interested in what she was doing later. It was a bit more of an exciting ride to the docks than she was used to, but they got there safely and in record time. This wasn't the first time she'd be meeting a potential client on a star yacht, but the ship she was lead to was like none she had seen. She didn't have time to admire the ship, as she would have been trampled by her escort. The turbo lift ride was as clean and swift as the rest of the process so far, setting a clear tone as to the type of person she'd soon be interacting with. And soon she saw the Baroness in the flesh. A little short than she expected, but the holo image had done her a disservice to how beautiful she was. But she seemed to be in the middle or wrapping up another meeting. Elis would wait to be announced, or noticed. She stood favoring her right side, thumbs resting in the belt loops of her pants, and admired the interior of the ship.

The woman was laughing at a Rodian's seemingly amusing reply. However, she promptly noticed the arrival of both the IG unit and the woman and her posture changed slightly. Her behavior was now subtly dismissive, she entertained the guests for a few minutes before she excusing herself. A protocol droid led the group of aliens and humanoids to the exit, some of them looked irritated. The baroness then reached Elis; her dress had a vertical slash, revealing the shapely leg. Over her exposed cleveage laid a golden symbol, the half of a golden sun. She smiled and offered Daragon a hand to grab.
"Elis Daragon, well met, I think I have no need to introduce myself, doesn't it?"
Her smile -particularly vivacious- and eyes seemed warm, something unexpected.
"I'm quite interested in your particular set of abbilities"
Said the baroness, cuting straight to bussiness.

Elis stood straight again, once she was addressed. Taking the woman's and she gave it a gentle shake accompanied by a slight bow. It was always hard to tell how these noble types wanted to be addressed. But she was trying her best to play the middle ground. Though she studied the woman closer, it was odd. Usually those who employed IG units had a different vibe about them, but the Baroness seemed rather pleasant. Standing back up and letting go of her hand, Elis rested her own hands on her hips.
Well, I had assumed this would be about business. Are you looking to buy coordinates, or do you need an explorer?

She took a seat in a long couch in the middle of the room; if it hadn't been for the viewports the room could have been part of a penthouse in Commenor, Hosnian Prime or Coruscant itself. Klaasje gestured for Daragon to take a sea in the opposite couch, mirroring her own. She just sits for a moment, smiling and then claps: a 3D-4X unit walked into scene and produced an holoprojector. The viewports are shut by automatic blinds and, in the dim light, the map projected is clearly seen. Now the baroness' face adquired an ominous touch, illuminated by the unnatural blue tilting light.
"You might recognize this sector of the Outer Rim territories"
The map zoomed in slightly, displaying a vast array of stars, planets, asteroid belts and nebulae.
"A really wild and fragmented part of our Galaxy. Many would say inhospitable for the civilized folk. Some of these systems are held by the Sith, who are terrible for bussiness, but others are even uncharted and not cared for"
She leans back, a hand playing with her pendant sun.
"Recently, my company adquired the assets of an old mining guild. Within one of its subsidiaries we found old archives, pertaining to several prospections and mining ventures that either failed or didn't quick off for some reasons. However, those investments could still be worth it"

Elis takes the offered seat as she listens to the woman explain what she needs. She watches the star-map closely, taking note of what parts it had filled in and didn't. But the Baroness soon came to the meat of the conversation: What Elis would be paid to do.
So, you want me to go out and see if these planets are worth re-investing in? Sounds simple enough. You seem rather fond of droids, so that should make most planets workable, worth aside. But it can get tricky if you want to use persons for labor. Though that also depends on how much you care about their well being. Either way, it'll probably take me a few days per hunk of rock to get a really good read on what it can offer.
The prospector paused, to make sure everything she had said was agreeable to her employer.

"Yes"
She said.
"Some of these mining settlements were abandoned because the increment of hostilities between the Empire and the Alliance in those regions. Others due shift in market and bursatile investments. Simply, others weren't worth exploiting"
The baroness leans back on the couch.
"I want you to discover which locations are worth pursuing and which not"
She inspects her nails.
"To be honest, either I will use droids extensively or... affordable sentient worforce"
Slaves.
"But I have a penchant for droids, they don't falter, they don't tire and they don't have mixed loyalties, is it not, Seventy, dear?"
"Assesment correct, mistress"
The IG unit replied from behind her back, standing tall across the couch.
"Your payment will be the standard in these cases, but, if you manage to find worthy investments... you shall be rewarded accordingly. If you accept I will forward an initial sum of credits"

Elis leans forward on her couch at the mention of her payment. The mention of slave labor didn't seem to phase the explorer one bit. She had worked with plenty of less reputable clients in the past, and having morals usually meant you didn't have food on this space station. The woman seemed to think about the job offer, though there was no thinking. She was absolutely going to accept, she just liked to make it seem like she wasn't so strapped for credits.
Okay. I'll take the job. If you'd like to forward me the coordinates for these planets, or whatever hunks of rock you're wanting me to check out, I'll get right on it. Any kinds of materials you're wanting me to keep a particular eye out for? And if the planet happens to be home to less 'advanced' sentients?

"Anything valuable works. We're not... exquisite picking up our exports. Everything is susceptible of being a trade commodity. But tibanna gas, crystals and valuable ore are the priority, of couse"
Said the woman, turning off the holoprojector. She walked to sit by Elis' side.
"We provided you with a list, most of them are around Anoat sector. And you have the map, I leave it to your expertise"
Klaasje pats Elis' hand.
"Don't worry about that, will you? We will handle those minor details"
She smiles.
"Anyway, do you have a ship, humm?"

Elis was surprised by the Baroness suddenly moving over to sit by her. But it seemed she was a woman of few concerns for 'ethical' business, which made Elis' job much easier. No need to worry about dangerous terrain or inhabitants. Just note it and report it, then she'd make the calls.
Anoat, yeah, I've been out that way before... Oh, uh, yeah I have a ship. A Trident-Class Surveyor. Left to me by my parents.

Klaasje gestures towards a protocol droid standing nearby, which then proceeded to move their way carrying a small pouch.
"This is a sum of credits to ease the initial procedures"
The droid silently handed the money to Daragon. Probably there was enough in the pouch to cover months of Daragon's living.
"You will receive complete payment after the job. If the results are satisfactory, of course, or at least prove you made your job well"
Klaasje smiled.
"And remember, we do know where to find you. I don't like surprises, dear, neither to play silly games"
She smiles again, warmly.
"Assessment: correct"
"If you work as well as I presume you're able to, Daragon, our work relationship might prove fruitful for both"

Elis took the bag of offered money and looked into it. And she couldn't help but laugh a little at the warning.
Oh, trust me, this isn't "skip town before doing the job for your boss with an IG droid" kinda money. I'll get prepped to leave as soon as possible.
She tucked the bag into her pocket.
I'll keep you updated as much as possible, though out in the wilds and can get difficult to get messages through.

At least try to send a report once in a standard rotation. If you need any droid assistance I may assign one of my numerous robotic servants to help you"

Elis gave another half smile at the comment about her being smart.
Yeah, I'd like to think so. I'll do my best to get you the information in a timely manor, or at least an update. And I appreciate the offer, but I do work best alone.
Elis was, to say the least, a little nervous about what could happen, should she not live up to this woman's expectations.

"Ah, Garvyn, excellent. Now we can do business, if your aides and the guards are cleared to witness this kind of business? I'm not sure you'll want to officially log this conversation but if you would like to continue to with formalities, that is your choice."
Vaulkhar leaned back in his chair and he was almost tempted to put his feet up on the table. He thought that might be pushing the formal Ambassador a bit too much at this early stage. Vaulkhar was actually starting to look forward to the rest of this conversation. He had initially been quite hesitant, even cautious when his orders had been relayed from Arkan Bloodrage. Going to their embassy, unarmed and unescorted to have what he initially thought would be a very antagonistic conversation. Vaulkhar had given the ambassador enough time to turn off any electronic surveillance equipment and dismiss any guards and aides that were not authorised to take part in the next part of the discussion.
"Well then Garvyn, when were you going to tell us about your latest PR stunt, hmm? Are you really banning slavery and if so, when were you planning on telling us? Another supplimentary question, how are you going to make it up for the orders we've already prepared for you!?"
Vaulkhar had completely changed his tone and mannerisms. He was no longer a calm and polite guest in the embassy, he was now a very kriffed off customer with an axe to grind. He was so annoyed at the current situation he was not acting like he was addressing the largest faction in the galaxy, it was as if he was scolding a misbehaving child. Such was the ambition of the Bloodrage Pirates.

She pocketed the credits as she moved to the door. On the way down, the explorer broke the silence. You don't need to see me home, I can manage myself. She didn't know how much autonomy this droid had, but she hoped it would just show her off the ship, and she could make the rest of the way on her own.

"Calculating probable outcome. Assessment: correct"
Said the droid, all photoreceptors focused on Elis' face.
"You may handle it yourself. Chances of dying: negligible. Chances of losing investment: scarce"
The droid slids open. The droid walks to the door, gesturing for Elis to leave.
"Mistress Klaasje will await your report"

Yeah, sure thing, bud.
Elis departed the company of the IG unit with a sigh of relief. For the reputation they had, she wasn't sure she'd ever be able to relax around one of those. But all the same Elis found a taxi back to her building and returned to her apartment. Once there she sent word back to the docking bay she used for Boon and made sure it would be ready to depart in 24 hours. Next she used the credits payed in advance to purchase more supplies to be delivered to her door later today or to the hanger bay before departure. The rest of the day she intended to use for research on the territory she would be surveying. Looking up old records, maps, and anything she could find.

Elis made her way to the docks, nowhere near where the fancy folk docked, but closer to the service people. The dirt and grim fit in better with them anyway. And so did she. Everyone here kept their heads down and went about their work, not wishing to be caught slacking on the job and dismissed through an airlock. The young explorer hadn't gotten a chance to personally sell her latest finds, but left them with a broker, who of course would take a hefty cut of the profits. But it was better than letting them sit and be sniped by her competitors. Climbing aboard Boon, Elis began activating the ships launch sequences, but soon that was being covered by the onboard AI. Brigid took over most of the rest of the launch, while Elis went back and checked that all her inventory had been delivered. Pleasantly surprised, only some of the food had been skimmed off this time. But with out much further fan fair, the ship left The Oasis and headed off for the Anoat sector.

The Blackguard Imperium, formerly known as the Blackguard Reborn, jumped at the opportunity to play a much larger and potentially more influential role in galactic politics. While not the Sith'ari's strong suit, there were many within the recently formed Imperial Diplomatic Service that were more than capable of taking on the daunting task of representing the single largest united faction of darksiders. Chosen specifically for this task, from one of the supporting clans on Iridonia, was Sevran Del Oucoa. Young, charismatic and very worldly, the Zabrak official became the Blackguard's top political representative. And the embassy that would be opened on the Oasis was the perfect opportunity for him. Knowing full well that proper representation and playing the political games of his enemies was required of him, the Sith'ari agreed to open negotiations with the administration of Oasis.*
*Upon succeeding in the negotiations, several ships were dispatched to the Oasis. Loaded with the necessary supplies and personnel required to build and staff a Sith Embassy, giving the Blackguard economic access to several varieties of good and resources. Citizens of the Imperium were able to come to the Oasis and purchase luxury good from Hapes, fresh caf from Garqi and even medical goods from Thyfferra. Defended by a private droid security force, the Embassy ground itself was sovereign territory of the Blackguard Imperium, but the Oasis itself was neutral. And in keeping the privilege of remaining operation, the Blackguard had to uphold that neutrality. A daunting task for the Sith members of the Blackguard, perhaps, but for its general populace, it was a insignificant price to pay to have access to the luxury and wealth the Oasis offered. As a result of the Embassy's construction and opening, SoroSuub Corporation opened an office near by to cater their good to the greater galaxy. Czerka Arms also opened an office to expand its influence. And raw materials from Anobis, Roon and Mustafar were brought here and sold or traded. Roonstones seemed especially popular. And so, the great game of galactic politics and economics continued, with another competitor arriving at the table, so to speak... Renegade Squad Staff Sergeant Aragin Torvin was the one in charge of the protection detail assigned to the Sith Embassy on The Oasis. While there was a whole platoon of droids, ready to be activated on a moments notice, Sevran Del Oucoa insisted that they remained out of sight and that a more humane approach was needed. While the Sith's reputation was of committing atrocities and killing any who stood in their way, Sevran pushed a less ruthless public appearance for the Blackguard Imperium. While still maintaining brutally efficient politics on the galactic stage, the appearance of living and breathing people put a face to those that served the Sith, which in turn helped shape a less barbaric reputation. Even still, outside of the embassy's boundaries, the Imperium's rule held little weight on The Oasis. Built and designed to operate as a wholly neutral space, allowing all galactic economies to come together as one, The Oasis was still the place to be if one wanted to live a lavish life of wealth. And Torvin and his squad ensured that the Imperium's laws and policies were enforced while delegates and diplomats visited here.
