As the fleet battle raged in orbit above Mustafar, the first of the C-9979 Modular Frigates started their descents down through the atmosphere with Fighter escorts that stuck close. A number of bombers made runs down into the atmosphere against defending positions and their anti-aircraft guns. Those fighters that didn't successfully complete their runs became diver bombers, to kamikaze their robot shells into any infrastructure that they could. But despite the losses, the first C-9979 touched down outside the city and started to deploy out its droid cargo. B1 and B2 battle droids were soon deploying in regimental formations and marching upon the city in mindless waves bent on the death of those defending forces still around to resist this invasion
