Who was this? And how did they know he was a Jedi? That sense of odd familiarity continued, feeling stronger than before, but he still could not place it precisely. Nevertheless, Jair decided, in typical fashion, to take the diplomatic approach and followed his assailants instructions to a tee. He found an open spot in the valley of Dantooines terrain where there would be no witnesses, besides perhaps the occasional Kath Hound. Finding a remote spot to land was not at all a difficult task on this world. Once he landed, he made sure his coms were still on.
I have followed your instructions precisely. You will find me landed in the valley with no witnesses, just as requested. I have no qualms with you.
What was that familiar feeling?

The Predator roared over top of the A-Wing and gently touched down facing dead on with the ship. The pilot stared out to his prize, sitting pretty and awaiting to be plucked from existence. The ramp dropped from under the cockpit and a man walked out wrapped in a dirty grey robe, hood covering his head and half his face. The Force vibrated around him, reckless yet finely tuned. A dead seriousness laid flat upon his lips as his boots settled on the ground not more than a hundred feet from his destiny. His robes whapped in the wind as he took in all of Dantooine's fresh air slowly through his nose and even slower past his lips before bellowing a hallowing scream, amplified as it echoed off the nearby hills and rocks."CRAWWFORRRD!!!!"

The man knew his name... but how? And why was he so angry? Jair could sense the anger rolling off of the man in waves, through the Force. The Force was strong with him. There was no doubt about that. Jair opened the canopy of his A-wing and exited his ship, cautiously, though he made sure to bring his lightsabers with him as a precaution. Though that nagging sense of familiarity made him really not want to fight, even more so than usual. He really did not want to fight this man, but he didn't know why. As he got out, he kept his arms raised in a show of peace, although his lightsaber hilts were visibly on his robe belt.
"Yes sir... that is my name... I come in peace..." Jair called out in response, without any hint of aggression in his voice whatsoever. Though a sense of curiosity could be picked up on, for sure.

The man trembled with anticipation as he watched Jair climb out of the fighter, and in his mind, foolishly unprepared for what was to come. He raised to meet Jair's eyes, flaring a bring blue set back as if to pierce Jair with the man's gaze alone. His nostrils flared, his eyebrows tensed as he prepared his mind before threatening deeply..."Grab..your weapon..."
He took a couple steps forward and called a hilt from his belt to his hand. It was a bit tarnished and not very well kept but still dangerous none the less. Three red rings adorned the hilt, welcoming his fingers like an old friend even as they tightly wound around the cool metal. His thumb played with the switch like a nervous twitch, but he remained cool and patient. He would not have this moment go any other way..than his.

The man's piercing gaze met Jair's. The anger was palpable in the mans eyes, but there was yet again such a familiarity about him. Jair could have sworn he had seen those eyes somewhere before. The man's signature in the Force was muddled... perhaps somewhat gray, but hard to read. Yet his signature in the Force was so familiar. Jair kept his hands up, and out, for now, but if he needed to he could easily call one of his sabers to him.
"I do not know how you know my name, but I do not wish to fight you, sir... I have no qualms with you," the Jedi reiterated as he kept the mans intense gaze quizzically. If the man was focused enough, he would notice a sense of sadness wash over Jair's eyes, for Jair began to realize who this man reminded him of.
"You remind me of someone I knew... an old student of mine. He died nearly ten years ago... during the Chaos Wars." The reason for his sadness was now laid bare. For whatever reason, this man recalled Jair's old student, Dalo, to mind. Dalo went missing after several attacks on the old Jedi Base on Felucia during the Chaos Wars and no search party was ever able to recover the Padawan. Now, the Jedi was convinced that the Force had brought him here for a reason, to help this man. He continued to meet the mans gaze with the same sad look mingled with a hopeful determination.
"Sir, please... let me help you. The Force did not lead me here by accident. Please..." Though the sadness and determination could be felt radiating from Jair now, through the Force, there was also an odd sense of calm that came with it, almost beckoning the man to partake of it if he merely chose to, completely open to invitation. Why this man reminded him of his old deceased Padawan was a mystery of the Force, but it only drove Jair to want to help this man more.

Why this man reminded him of his old deceased Padawan was a mystery of the Force, but it only drove Jair to want to help this man more. The Force spoke to the man revealing all the Jair had felt and thought but he made no visible reaction to it. He remained solid to his unwavering determination to face the past, and there was still conflict in his resolution to the matter. Jair's feelings served him well here, or at least for a short time. This was Dalo, the very same padawan he remembered from all those years ago. The Chaos Wars nearly all but destroyed his spirit. He wasn't ready to face something so raw, so chaotic with the stench of death at such a young age. However, now Dalo used it to transform himself to adapt giving him the strength of resolve he never dreamed of in that time that felt so very long ago.Dalo shifted his feet, ready for Form VII, prepared in a most aggressive force of saber combat known to those who have suffered the loss that he has. The lightsaber activated, cutting the air with a blue blade pulsating with a once forgotten eagerness to be useful once again. Dalo's eyes never left Jair's, not for a second, to study and predict how true he was to his words pertaining no desire to fight. Dalo was the polar opposite for the time being, trying to hide his internal conflict as best he could behind barriers of psychological walls back with layers of the Force in hopes no weakness could be found if someone were to try and invade his mind and see his thoughts."Then the Force has betrayed you, just as you betrayed me...My old Master..."
Without another word, Dalo burst forward with as much speed as he could muster with the aid of the Force while swinging his blade across him in hopes to cut Jair in two where he stood as Dalo would effortlessly pass him by his side where he would pivot round to hopefully either catch the sight of Jair's fall or at least be prepared for whatever counter offensive he might have in return to this vicious attack.

Jair did not have time to respond to, nor fully process, the words the man just spoke to him. He was also more prepared than the man might have originally perceived, despite how it had looked to him before. As soon he saw the man activate his blue lightsaber, Jair had subtly called his lightsaber hilt into his right hand, though his countenance had not changed. When the man charged at him he activated his bright neon orange blade and immediately diverted his eyes to the direction of his opponents blade as it approached him. He reached out with his left hand to hold his own lightsaber with a two handed grip to parry the strike as it came towards him. After the loud sound of clashing lightsabers ceased to ring into the distance, Jair saw the man pivoting back around to look at him. There would be no counter-attack, only Jair standing there, backing up a few paces with his lightsaber ignited in a purely defensive stance. Jair was meeting the man's gaze once again as now, the words that he said before began to slowly sink in. His eyes were wide portraying a combination of disbelief, relief, confusion, wonder, and hope, all of which were now radiating from his signature.
"... what...?" Jair replied, almost in a whisper, his eyes welling up ever so slightly. "By Ashla... you... you're alive?" Now a new emotion began to radiate from the Jedi's aura; joy. It would be a complete contradiction to the emotions emanating from the man standing before him in a twist of irony. But Jair's reaction was as genuine as could be, and the man would be able to easily sense this, as Jair was not holding back or barring his thoughts from him at all. Especially now, he felt no reason to.
"Dalo... is it really you?" He asked, with a genuine smile now curving upward on his features.

Especially now, he felt no reason to."Dalo... is it really you?" He asked, with a genuine smile now curving upward on his features. Dalo expressed clear annoyance at Jair's perfect defensive form with no further response to his attack. His eyebrows tensed more as he listened to Jair's words that dug deep within Dalo's soul, producing tears to swell in the bottom of his eyes. He shook it off quickly, not to miss another opportunity to continue the assault but this time more relentless and showing his sure will to kill or die trying. The next flurry of blows came stronger and quicker, slashing left and right at both shoulder blades then upper cutting diagonally sending sparks splashing from the contact of their blades. With each unsuccessful strike, Dalo breathed harder and harder as he desperately tried to punch through. At the end of the flurry of attacks, Dalo swung to behead Jair but their sabers locked in tightly. The blades hissed under the stress of both combatants strength and light strobed rapidly as if the blades could break at any moment sending them crashing to the ground. It was now that Dalo broke his silence once more, perhaps to seeking some understanding in his old Master's tone and emotions. This through him off greatly inside, for it discredited everything he believed. Everything he was told about the ways and objectives of the people in this wide galaxy. His voice cracked in pain as he asked his question..." YOU LEFT ME! Why did you abandon me?!" he said, locking eyes with Jair almost as intensely as their sabers except deep within his eyes hid a secret pain. A deep sadness he's never told anyone. He thought of Jair as an older brother once. One that he thought could protect him from any hurt, any danger. Someone to look out for him, to give him proper direction that Dalo would never have to consider questioning.

As Dalo continued to press a flurry of attacks, Jair was ready, but all he did was defend. It was all he was willing to do. Spending as little energy as possible to just gracefully block each strike as they came was the ultimate goal, although as the strikes did come in stronger, Jair did need to use a bit more strength to block them, but matching the increasing strength of the strikes seemed to come naturally to Jair. As they finally locked blades, Jair just kept enough pressure to keep their blades in place. No more, no less.
"Why did you abandon me?!" A flicker of sadness flashed across his eyes, and he took several quick steps back, allowing their lightsabers to disengage from their lock. The sooner he could get Dalo to disengage his blade completely, the better. He did not want to fight him, at all. "Dalo... the Council decided that you needed someone who wasn't as involved in the war to train you. That's why Master Aalin Hope took over your training. It wasn't my decision, but I gave her and the council my blessing, because I was very involved in the war."
And Jair was being completely truthful. He held nothing back from Dalo. His emotions, his thoughts, and his sincerity were all laid bare. Dalo could read his mind if he so chose. But another new layer of sadness would be noticed in Jair now, at the mention of Aalin Hope.

His emotions, his thoughts, and his sincerity were all laid bare. Dalo could read his mind if he so chose. But another new layer of sadness would be noticed in Jair now, at the mention of Aalin Hope. Aalin...Another name that brought a typhoon of emotions. Last he heard the name was from a security officer investigating her disappearance, but to Dalo it was just another abandonment. Something deeply wrong with himself that he did not know but everyone else could see. As Jair stepped back, Dalo held strong in his place with his hands still tightly grasping his hilt so much that his hands began to sweat and shake. His eyes softened slightly, his eyebrows raised but a little and he spoke more softly now like a plea for answers."She left me too. She saw whatever you and the Council did and disappeared in the night. No explanation. No goodbyes."
He choked now on his words before clearing his throat and pressed on, swinging precisely and swiftly but with less determination and more emotional release. Like chucking a waste bag into a compactor. Dalo loosely aimed for Jair's waist, then his arm and finally a sweeping motion towards his knees as Dalo crouched down in a slightly elegant form or showmanship. He breathed deeply and closed his eyes for a moment, reliving his early childhood years on Felucia before escaping the madness of the conflict.
"I looked for you...But pirates found me first. They taught me the truth about life in the galaxy and how everyone operates within it. I stole to feed myself, I killed to survive. Somehow that made more sense to me than all the time spent with any Master. At least they were honest and told me the truth. They protected me. They looked out for me. It should have been YOU!!"
With a final burst of energy, concentrating heavily on the Force to aid in his acrobatics, Dalo launched into the air and summersaulting over Jair to land behind him in a last attempt to sever his life from this life swinging his sword true to Jair's waist and await the result.

Jair remembered when Aalin Hope vanished. It was also not long after one of Ramius's many assaults on the Jedi Base that she had disappeared. All search parties that went out to find her also came back empty handed. But before Jair could respond, Dalo initiated another flurry of attacks, although they seemed less precise than before. Jair remained solely on the defensive, as he had done throughout the entirety of the conflict. When he stopped, and finally spoke again, Jair listened, and let him vent out all of his frustration and pain. That war was devastating, and Jair knew as much, quite personally. He would not diminish any toll it might have taken on Dalo. But again, before he could respond, Dalo pressed another attack, this time launching himself in the air above Jair. Jair twirled around and firmly met Dalo's lightsaber with his own, in a strong defensive maneuver, blocking it from hitting his waist. He held it there for now, but he locked eyes with Dalo. He wanted him to know he was understanding of his pain. That war was absolutely brutal.
"We looked for her after a major assault on the Jedi Base. None of our search parties could find her, Dalo." Jair once again took several steps back in hopes of disengaging their saber lock, before continuing to speak, but never wavering from his eye contact. "We also looked for you, after a similar attack. I searched for you, personally. But all any of us could find were Felucians twisted by that Force-forsaken Whill..." Jair looked at his old padawan with a solemn genuineness. "We thought you had died, Dalo. I... I... grieved your death..."

"We thought you had died, Dalo. I... I... grieved your death..." Dalo listened intently to Jair's words as they flooded his mind, bringing him to calm enough at least to ease his tense state. Emotion filled his heart, easing his lightsaber from his grasp. It dropped on a rock causing it to disengage before rolling five feet off to his side. Dalo dropped to his knees and the breeze gently swept off his hood exposing him to the sunlight's warming embrace. His brown hair would be as Jair might remember back in the day, except perhaps a bit dirtier and unkept. Self care has not been on the top of his priorities lately, not like finding those he deemed responsible for his plight. The torment of his own thoughts beat him to submission. The fact he once sought to destroy those he used to call Master, but more so to destroy himself. Dalo never could because he wasn't the kind of person to take it laying down. For the first time in a decade, the Force spoke to him to calm the vortex he caused both in and around himself within the eyes of the Force. He's not used to this, seeing as he never wanted to use his gifts from the past unless it served his own purpose by his own design. Dalo closed his eyes and took a deep breath of the now fresher air. It reminded him of those trips he used to take with his parents when he was very young. They loved nature and all things that were apart of it, which is all he had left of his parents for the time being. He wasn't sure if they were even still alive. He looked to Jair with eyes softer than before and an expression more attuned to Jair's more diplomatic preference. The slightest grin stealthily stretched in the corner of his mouth."Funny how and when the Force decides to speak to us...Isn't it?" Dalo frowned then slightly, "I'm sorry you suffered..."

Jair could sense that Dalo was finally calming down from his signature in the Force, though he was not by any means probing his mind. Jair did not think any such thing would be necessary now. But when Dalo finally knelt down on the ground, and let his lightsaber fall, he sighed with relief, deactivated his own lightsaber, and stashed it back on his belt. When Dalo finally addressed him, he too decided to just sit down in the grass. Jair would appear very familiar to when Dalo last saw him. He hadn't visibly aged all that much, but his eyes held ten years more experience behind them than before.
"It is funny. I often think I've finally grown accustomed to how the Force speaks... but then something absolutely extraordinary will happen, without fail." Jair said with a genuine laugh, before his countenance turned serious once more, yet full of empathy.
"It's not your fault. I do not blame you, in the slightest, for trying to get out of there. That war was brutal. We all suffered." Jair's face brightened again. "I'm just so glad you're alive."

Dalo grabbed his lightsaber, holstered it and stood staring at Jair genuinely happy that his rash attempts on his life harbored no grudge within his old mentor and friend. But Jair's next words were heavy with guilt that now filled Dalo's chest. Doubt crept into his mind on whether or not to tell Jair all that happened, or perhaps none of that mattered now. He succeeded in finding someone from his past. Only the Force could tell what the future held now, but for the moment; Dalo would find peace in reminiscing with Jair."I wasn't so much trying to get out, but to try and find a place to call safe. I was terrified back then and was the first time I had been exposed to one of the many monstrosities that the galaxy can hold in the depths of it's shadows. I wish I was stronger back then, to shield those I could from the affects of the War." Dalo paused a moment, and the slightest touch from love's fingertips touched his heart. The kind of love only a brother could share."I am happy to see you made it out alive...And...I'm sorry for all this." Dalo said, tears in one eye, empathetic to his old Master that once held a strong position of hatred in his heart. Now melted away the lies and darkness to expose the truth of his feelings.

Jair harbored no grudge at all, as was evident from the tranquil aura that emanated from him. But part of why it was so easy for Jair to not take it personally at all, besides his natural drive to help even those immersed in the dark side to see the light, was that he knew that he himself was guilty of acting rashly in the past. So when Dalo apologized for his rash behavior, Jair just smiled. "You may not believe me, but... I myself did something very similar once. Thank Ashla I didn't get anyone killed. It was one of the most foolish things I've ever done." Jair couldn't help but shake his head and chuckle at the memory. Not that it was funny, by any means, but it was, very much, foolish. "We all make mistakes, I'm no exception."
Jair listened to his old Padawan talk about how he wished he could do more to protect others around him from the darkness that Ramius wrought on Felucia, but Jair shook his head. "Dalo... you were only ten years old." Jair thought back to the horror of the Chaos War. "I don't think I ever feared him, directly... but I probably should have, in hindsight. What I feared daily is who he would take away from us... either mentally, or physically." A sad far away look was in his eyes for a brief moment. "There were multiple times I almost succumbed to the darkness... out of hatred for that... being. I thank Ashla I overcame."
Jair's countenance lightened, however. "Thankfully, he is long gone. And Felucia has seen a period of peace for the past nine years."

"We all make mistakes, I'm no exception." Jair listened to his old Padawan talk about how he wished he could do more to protect others around him from the darkness that Ramius wrought on Felucia, but Jair shook his head. "Dalo... you were only ten years old." Jair thought back to the horror of the Chaos War. "I don't think I ever feared him, directly... but I probably should have, in hindsight. What I feared daily is who he would take away from us... either mentally, or physically." A sad far away look was in his eyes for a brief moment. "There were multiple times I almost succumbed to the darkness... out of hatred for that... being. I thank Ashla I overcame." Jair's countenance lightened, however. "Thankfully, he is long gone. And Felucia has seen a period of peace for the past nine years." Dalo listened with an open mind, open ears and heart. He shuddered at the mention of Ramius and the Wars for the last time. Jair's suffering did pain him though and his next choice of words were carried with a kind tone."I believe you have. I can feel that much in you. But that doesn't determine who you are as a person, no matter what title you put before or after your name. It's good to remember for humbleness sake, but not to tell us who we may be." Dalo smiled with a wink and stepped forward towards Jair, offering a his hand in peace. Another long breath filled his lungs and exhaled sighingly, enjoying the terrain he finally took a moment to graze his eyes over and take in what a good day it was indeed to be alive."Well, that's a relief. Felucia deserves it along with so many others that are often not graced enough by peace's presence. Which brings us to you. What's been happening in your world since then?"

Jair smiled and shook Dalos hand. He could sense that it seemed like a great burden had left his old padawan. Or at least, perhaps in part. Jair didn't press it, because he was not going to start probing his mind. There still was no need for that. There was wisdom in his old padawan's words. Clearly he and Master Aalin Hope did something right during their times training him, despite the circumstances, and how long ago it was.
"Well... I was en route to pick up some crystals. We got more training sabers at the Temple recently. I intended to take a covert route to the caves because the old Jedi Enclave is an Imperial outpost, and it needs to be avoided... albeit, I wasn't quite intending to take quite as covert a route as I ended up on." Jair added with a bit of a slight smirk.

Dalo did indeed release a lot of beasts from the basements of his soul with this encounter, leaving him feel refreshed. Almost reborn, for the way he thought and lived before would no longer suit who he was now, which was still up for questioning. He didn't even have the answers to that. His eyes searched eagerly for anything "off trail" that Jair could take in the direction of the enclave of old, and found a few but knew it would be just as dangerous for one to travel alone in the wild Kath Hound territories let alone across the door mat of the Empire. He had an idea and he presented it with a true to form nature that even non-Force sensitive beings could pick up on."Well you could fly, but hidden AA defenses are always an issue in these parts. Especially closer to the cushion squatters and their Villa's. I'd say you could take it by foot, but I think it best I give you escort until your mission is complete and safely back in orbit. The Force has no cure against the pain of bite from one of the many grumpy pups in these parts." Dalo was sincere to his council, and always true to his word. He would protect Jair with his life after sworn duty, if he would have him that is. So Dalo stood smiling as he squinted the sun from his eyes as he looked to Jair's answer and reactions.

As if on cue, one of those "grumpy pups", as Dalo so aptly called them, came running down a hill head on towards them. "Huh... it's almost as if you summoned him. Where'd you learn that power?" Jair joked with a goofy smirk, before turning serious once again. "Let me try something..."
The Kath Hound approached them aggressively. In all reality he probably picked up on their scent and was being territorial. He was a big guy with horns as well. But Jair held out his hand, sending pulsating waves of calmness out before them. Dalo would very likely be able to sense it too. The Kath Hound began do visibly slow down, and once he got to them, he gently approached Jair's hand, being drawn to the calming waves of the Force. The Kath Hound then lay down, and fell asleep.
Despite this, Jair quietly addressed Dalo. "I think I should take you up on your offer. It's one thing to handle one of these guys, but a herd of them? That could be a problem."
