“Alright, Harnan.” Arcana turned away from the hangar and followed the dolly into the medbay. She watched as the various field techs peeled off his armor, revealing the man’s rather impressive physique. His flowing blonde hair contrasted against his blue-grey eyes. She sat nervously at the edge of the room as they took him into the doctor’s room.

Visum was blinded by the light that faced him as he awoke. Circles crossed his vision as he prevailed consciousness. He looked around at the variety of droids that surrounded him. He also saw several stormtroopers in the edge of the room. And directly above him was a stunning blonde woman. Sitting up with a start, he looked around, fully regaining consciousness. He noticed his armor sitting in a corner of the room, where a few technicians were working on the enormous metal suit, trying to restore power to it. His eyes then layed rest on Arcana Ren, who leaned over him. He was honestly too tired to speak, so he just sat there, waiting for her to make the first move.

Entering the void that awaited the girl felt as if she were being sucked into a state of animated suspension. Mind whirling she held onto sanity arms at the controls of the ship. Time lost all meaning and indeed meaning itself became entangled in the the entanglement of empty space. Time. Time was relative, so the theorists told. And no matter how much our lives are governed by time it will never be absolute so they say. The rate at which it passes depends entirely on your speed and acceleration at any given moment. And at this very moment, in a life that flew by at breakneck speed time crawled. She knew not whether to bask in the fleeting break from the fast pace or scream for everything to speed up once again. At long last, or mere microseconds, depending on how one viewed things all calmed falling back into the comfort of blinding speed

All whirled violently into a bizarre climactic rollercoaster ride through this end and that all things inside turned out and the outside turned in, the bottom ripped up and became the ceiling as the heavens came crashing down gently becoming the floor. All senses were heightened to the point on the edge of death....

==Requiem SL== <<107 PP, J11 Sector, Gateway>>
Gate way was (according to knowledge publicly available to any citizen that wished to know) the permanent settlement closest to the core in the Imperium. Technically, it was in the deep core, right on the edge of the rolling maelstrom of black holes, nebula fields & stars so close they scrapped. It was more of a stronghold than a real settlement. The radiation baked surface of the planet could support no life. The shallow caves riddling its crust had little better than mosses a few slime like things creeping in the fragile shelter that thins stone granted against the constant burn of so many nearby stars.
The planet's orbital was a completely different case. One of the primary limitations of the Rakatech hyperdrive was its reliance on a strong beacon signal to lock onto. For the original Rakata, they had used the force signature of planets as natural beacons to find new worlds. The Imperium's version was too weak to even do that, except in the shortest jumps. However, the Infinite Imperium took a page out of the Chiss book. They created a network of beacons throughout Imperium holdings. At its core, each beacon held a single holocron, While they were technically blank of any usefully information, the crystals were packed with power. Only a few in the Imperium had the Force strength needed to create these holocrons, even with the Rakata teachings that made them much simpler than the jedi or sith ones. The rest of the satellite was a massive amplifier for that crystal.
This amplified signal was strong enough (or perhaps well tuned enough would be a better description) that the Rakatech hyperdrives could lock onto them from halfway across the galaxy. This is what made gateway so important. Without it as a stopping point, Imperium ships would be forced to travel well to the south before being able to loop back toward the Core. Even with the relatively slow speeds of the Rakatech hyperdrives compared to newer models, there was just no replacement for the safety of one of the devices in the often unmapped & usually dangerous pathways of the Unknown Regions. The ability to freely bypass threats that would destroy other hyperdrives was an invaluable tool to maintaining the Imperium's far flung territories.
The beacons also served a second purpose. While only the best defended worlds would have a beacon installed, they served a purpose beyond just guiding ships in to them. In addition, the locked onto the signals of the other beacons, transmitting data back & forth. This was the beating heart of the Imperium's private holonet. True, secondary stations of much smaller size & much more common construction often extended the network out to the fringes of the Imperium. But this was the net that tied it together.
Unknown to the habitats however, Gateway had another reason for its name. One that stretched back to before their own parent clan had even been founded. A secret that had been carefully hidden an entire lifetime. There was one beacon that was not known to the citizen, all except the most highly ranked. One that never spoke, only listened. Constantly drinking in a stream of information. But not only information. At certain times, it would flicker on, just long enough for carefully chosen ships to lock onto its signal & jump. But only if they knew to expect the signal & were waiting for it. Few living beings made that jump. Even fewer returned.

==Requiem SL== <<4 PP; Requiem Sector>>
Many Years Ago...
It had been nearly two years since Darth Titanus had slain & replaced his dark master Sadea. Two years during with what was already becoming known as Requiem prospered under his fair, if unyielding rule. Each of the forty colony worlds were now well established. Lord Tanis, master of the colony Marigold, looked over yet another report that trickled their way up to him from below. The constant stream of scouting reports, mineral surveys, resource profiles & any number of other reports. The vast majority of which were aimed at extracting as much of value from the region as quickly as possible.
He still didn't like the skies here. He was used to the dark swath of the far outer rim, where even the glowing band of the core was faint. Here even the night shimmered with lights. The skies were bright enough that one rarely even needed the lights that glowed in the streets to navigate by. Still, it was a fair sight better than the world he had left. Ope warfare clogged every port in the night sky. No where was safe it seemed. & yet, Darth Titanus had managed to guide a fleet of nearly two hundred million beings to what was in effect, a hidden oasis.
There had been a massive celebration the week before. Titanus had left, of to report back to the New Infinite Empire on the status of the mission. Only a few ships went with him, the rest had been employed in building up Requiem. So far, their major issue was too few people. They had plenty of resources to pour into problems from the multitude of asteroid mines, comet harvesting operations, & any number of other sources. But there never seemed to be enough hands to go around. True, the population growth had shot up like a starship once they were settled & it became clear that this was as safe a place as any in the galaxy. But it would be another decade & more before those new children would be ready to join the work force.

==Requiem SL== <<20 PP; Requiem Sector>>
Many Years Ago...
He looked out at the faces.
He had been a young man once. No one had been sure of exactly how old Titanus had been when he took command, but it probably hadn't been too much beyond the cusp of adulthood. That had been over twenty years ago. Drallin had been young once. Back when the galaxy made sense. He had lived his childhood in the peaceful golden days of the Republic. The Old Republic as they were calling it now. He had served a long time in the planetary garrison & after that the sector defense forces. That was the closest thing to a military back in those days. As his was a military family, that was the only option open to him. Well, except for joining up with a mercenary band that would have been little better than piracy.
None quiet alike.
When the Separatists had broken that peace, they changed something deep in the galaxy. There hadn't been peace after that. Not at all. He had still been young then. No longer a raw recruit, but a promising youth working his way up the ranks. He fought beside a hundred species. He fought side by side with the clones army. Once, he even saw a jedi general fighting in the distance. In the end, they beat back the Separatists. But the broken thing wasn't fixed.
All similar.
He hadn't been a young man anymore by then. By the time the Empire was announced. He served for a while longer in the Empire, but the glory was gone & he quietly retired. The wars didn't stop though. Fanatics & Rebels refused to let them stop. Setting fire to one world after another. Eventually, they even succeed in toppling the Empire. Some say the Emperor plans it all, from the Separatists onward. Drallin wasn't sure, who planned their own death after all?
The steady clink & rattle of dishes.
Even that had been nearly thirty years ago. For a short time, it seemed like things would start to go back to how they were. What they were supposed to be like. But it was a dying glimmer. The infighting started right back up & soon the whole galaxy was tearing itself apart. He had severed in another dozen military since then. Most often without a choice. When he did get a choice, he ran to the furthest part of the galaxy he could reach. But war was already there. So he joined up again. This time willingly. It was supposed to be an exploration mission, but it was packing a lot of military tech. Drallin figured it was a covert attack on someone or another. He was past caring at that point.
Faces glancing up from meals, then back down.
Surprisingly enough, it actually had been exactly what it said. Or close enough. Drallin had not taken a life in nearly twenty years. Had not even gotten into a fight. He had been teaching. True, he taught military topics. But it was still teaching. There was at least one small corner of the galaxy where the fires didn't burn. Where wars didn't rage. But it wasn't perfect. For a long time, there had been too much work & not enough people to do it. That would be changing soon.
A steady stream of hands.
Wisps of pale hair floated around his face. The first ones would burn fast. Not as bright, not as clever as they should be. Barely children by the time they were old like him. The next ones would take longer, but last longer as well. The ones after them would burn slow & strong. Young & fresh long after his children's children were old. No two exactly alike. & yet a bond, a thread between them that made them all to easy to pick from a crowd. At least these first ones. Something around the eyes. They hadn't been made to create. They would live & die & then be no more. The later ones, they would stay true. One generation after the next. Too cruel, the report had said. To make a race so brief. Better to let them fade before they knew what they were.
Enter, eat, exit.
Drallin couldn't help but weep for them. His students. His project. Perhaps they were an echo. They had been made by the same soulless fish that had made the Grand Army. Some of the grey liches were within sight even now. Some meaningless gibber about quality control. The cloners had come. They had brought their equipment. They had brought their clones. They didn't know. Not yet. No one left Requiem. Not even the dead.

He had come back. She hadn't expected him to. Not really, definitely not so soon. He had left little more than a year ago. His son still too young to walk. Now the Child was toddling around. Though the Child often fell over. He watch the Child. Her lover did. Sometimes for hours. He wouldn't speak, would just silently watch them. He scared the people. They didn't know him. Not like she did. He watched her as well. It made her feel beautiful again.
She understood. She was only human. He would remain long after her. Even if they lived the same span, she was already past her prime. He had saved her. Once, long ago. Only not so long ago. She had been pulled off the street. Gone from everything she knew. Herded into a ship with more people than she knew still existed. She had been pretty still, despite the wear of time. She wasn't anymore by the time they landed again. Even before Sadea had taken her. She had been tarnished, been twisted in the dark holds of that ship.
He found her then. Between the attentions of Sadea. She was ready to give in. To die. But that wasn't future. That was the past. Her mother had told her that a princess got a shining knight to save her. Her knight came for her in black armor dripping with blood. His own, her tormentor's, others yet besides. He healed her. Offered to make her whole again. She refused.
Soon enough, the Child was born. Hopefully, he would have his father's span. Hopefully, he would never know war. When he returned, he had a name for the Child. The Child was Kad.

Kad was bored again. He could never keep playmates for long. Sooner or later they got scared of him. He couldn't tell why. He didn't know that he was beginning to show the same traits that were the worst parts of his father. The need to command. The flashpin temper. Little signs & clues of something darker beneath the surface. His mother had passed before. His father could only visit rarely. For the most part he was raised by tutors. Even they left him mostly to his own devices.
He shouldn't be here. Of all places not here. The vat chambers were supposed to be secure. These were supposed to be cycled down for maintenance & then back into use. It had been simple to get one over looked. Like his father, he had a special touch with machines. They called to him. Sang him to sleep. They didn't get tired or scared. But they weren't deep like people were. Not often at least.
He just wanted a friend. The first part had been the hardest. It took him several tries to even get it a few days. But soon, days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months. Before he knew it, it was time. He pulled open the door, the glass was instantly slick with the gore & goo within. It fell but it didn't shatter. He was soaked. His whole front slick with the arid fluids. He didn't care. He stared back into a pair of eyes as perfectly Golden as his own. At last, the perfect playmate that could match him in every way.
-Kad Hello Dak, I'm Kad.
-Dak Hello Kad, I'm naked.
The two smiled, one a perfect mirror for the other.

The new ship design coming in from Lehon was amazing. Though perhaps new wasn't the right term for it. Somehow or others, Z'har (as he was calling himself these days) had managed to find a fairly sized group of Rakata that had lived in the original Infinite Empire. It would take a while to build a station that size, but when finished it would complete support a population of millions. More & more, the surfaces of the planets had been abandoned for smaller stations. True, the surface would never be completely emptied, but more people now lived in space than on the surface. Especially with the huge population boom the cloning had allowed.
So far it was just the short fuses, the first generation were already hard at work. It would be a while yet for the longer ones to start growing into their own. By then, Requiem would be ready for them. He wasn't too sure about the sphere & fin design, but it seems the designers were extremely fond of it & unwilling to change it. Not that it mattered much what shape a nine kilometer long station was. At that point, shape became secondary.
He couldn't really get a straight answer out of them as to what the design as called. As best as he could translate, it roughly meant metal-star-in-black-water-habitat. As good as they were at designing things, they were equally terrible at naming them. Come to thing of it, back on Lehon there had been a very similar looking station. what had it been called? Solar Forge or something. That sounded like a much better name anyway.

==Requiem SL== <<107 PP; J11 Sector, Gateway>>
It was yet another normal day at Gateway. It was one of those worlds that a great many people visited, but very few actually set foot on it. Orbital command (such as it was) had relatively little to actually do. Even given the scope of the Imperium & the central hub like nature of the system, the space available in a system was more than enough to handle the traffic. Especially given how the system's orbitals had been swept clear of every thing from the smallest grain to the largest planet, with the exception of Gateway itself.
Then things started changing. First thing that the controllers noticed was a stream of new beacons coming on line. That in itself wasn't unusual. One or two new ones tended to come online every week. Forty within the space of a few moments was unheard of. The stranger thing however, was the rush of data. The controllers were far more removed from the flesh than the standard citizen, the most extreme examples were ancestor spirits in all but name, living in the clan's holonet as others would in the physical realms. Most new beacons came to life with a short burst of backlogged data that hadn't spread to another beacon yet, usually no more than a few hours to a day. These came online to a flood of data, just over a century of it. Even the ancestor spirits paused in surprise. There was more data there than from all the citizens in the rest of the galaxy. A moment later it was clear way. The publicly reported population just jumped by nearly two trillion. Not helots either, full blown citizens.
Then things got interesting. The first craft to appear caused little enough notice, even given its size. Space was, after all, very large. But then a second one appeared, then a few more. Then hundreds. By this point the other craft in the system had noticed. Each of the craft was a central sphere nearly three kilometers across with fins making the craft nearly nine kilometers tall. There was a moment of panic, but the craft were obviously Rakatan in design. A few moments later & the IFFs began to register. There was still a large amount of confusion, but these were ships of the Imperium as well.
It would take a lot longer for the less integrated members of the Imperium to realize the scope of the change, but the curtain had been drawn back from Requiem. They would still be nearly impossible to reach by normal hyperdrive, but they were only a very short hop from Gateway.

Ships did not usually make the transfer from the wider galaxy into the hidden realms of Requiem. That actually wasn't true, cargo ships made the trip into the area extremely commonly. However, they didn't ever leave. Only drone ships were used, & after making the transition, they were simply listed as lost. It was a simple way to funnel a steady steam of resources & exceptionally valuable citizens into a safe zone. Rare technologies & potentially dangerous objects that needed to be kept for one reason or another also made the trip. What didn't happen, however, was things leaving Requiem.
Every rule had a few exceptions though. A few higher ranking member of the clan knew about the site in general terms. At least in general terms, if not exact location. A few had even made the trip, safely kept away from any sort of navigational data & making use of switching ships at black sites to prevent leaks. Aya was one of the few people that actually knew the coordinates of the site, & was still allowed to run around free in the wider galaxy.
She had a particular task in mind for this particular visit. One that would require help from two unusual beings. The first was her brother Non, who was riding with her in what had been termed the 'black out box' due to the lack of external access of any kind. The other would be meeting them when they arrived. An event that would be happening extremely soon, as their drone craft was already coming in for a landing.
Aya heard the lock to the compartment click open just as the shuttle settled to the ground. By now the navicomputer would have not only wiped itself clean, but the small charge that had been placed there also would have physically destroyed the device. The clan took no chances with the possiblity of someone breaching the divide, from either side.
-Aya Ready brother? It would seem we have arrived.

The trip should have been a dull one, but the time with his sister was a rare oppurtunity, and NCO had enjoyed it. As they ship settled NCO he released himself from the crash harness and stretched his old and weary bones with several audible pops. As his vod queried him, he turned, patting his helm, currently hanging at his side where most might wear a blaster pistol. He nodded once, and gave a short answer. Most might think it rude, to be so abrupt. But he simply wasn't one to waste words when he didn't have too. His sister knew it, and at times found it a pleasant change for the formal idle chatter that accompanied most of her official visits or calls. Though he knew she also enjoyed the challenge of speaking without saying anything and leaving her opponent little room to maneuver with out bothering to lift a finger. She was clever, like their father had been, and she knew it too.
-Non Oya.
NCO held out his arm, for her to take if she so chose. He knew she didn't need it. It was simply something that he felt aught to be done. He walked with her down the ramp and into the docking bay they'd been assigned. He blinked rapidly to help his eyes adjust to the brighter lights, and listened for trouble. He didn't expect any, but neither could he let himself forget decades of experience honed habits. He let his sister guide him beyond the ramp, as she knew where they needed to be better than he did.

Aya takes the offered arm, usually she was required to take a more formal bearing, but for this particular trip, it was literally only the two of them on the entire ship. Of course, they had shared the trip with a range of cargo & other material being shipped, but that was all stowed away in the cargo holds & well away from the areas the two of them had been locked inside. Once outside the ship & into the beaming sunshine of the fresh world, Aya smiled. It was not often that she had the chance to visit. Even then she had only set foot on two of the forty worlds of Requiem.
It was a peculiar feel. The worlds had a veil of lights spread across the sky, visible both day & night. The veil shimmered with a host of colors that nearly drown out the dim sun of this world in the sky. If it wasn't for the orbital arrays focusing light onto the world, it would have been much to cold for easy comfort. As it was, the world was well suited to more common Genies & the ever growing population of Rakata.
Waiting at the bottom of the ramp were a pair of faces that were both very familiar & strangely odd. Aya had met the being on both previous visits, & had built a fair rapport with him, though this would be the first time that Non met the oldest of their siblings. At first glance, they were twins, but the longer that a person looked at them, the more it become obvious that both faces mirrored each other far to quickly. In fact, it was as if one expression was spread across two faces. Reaching the bottom of the ramp, Aya bowed at the hips. It was a formal move, only a formal greeting of her father dipped deeper. It would likely be a surprise to her other brother, had he had been purposefully kept in the dark about pretty much the entire trip.
The 'twins' faces were obviously cut from the same cloth as the Admiral. He was much smaller build, much slimmer. They did, however have the same cut jaws & the same golden eyes that ran in the family, though they lacked the genetic condition that stained the skin of both the Admiral & Marcos. The oddest note, however was the metal implant located at the base of both twins' skulls. Once Aya had held the bow for a long second, the twins returned it in eerie unison. Though not as deeply. That out of the way, grins broke out all around & a quick flurry of hugs were exchanged.
-Aya Non, may I present our eldest Brother Kaddak.
The reply came from both mouths at once, giving him an odd stereo effect. It was a little like talking to an ithorian.
-Kaddak Hello, little brother.
