The alliance squad, consisting of 4 soldiers: Drez, Vorik, Izmar, and Jackie, had 'tagged' along on the GR75. They had been sent to eliminate savage beasts before, but never Raakghouls. Raakghouls were made long ago by an ancient Sith artifact and they were aware that even a tiny scratch from these creatures was fatal, which is why they wore toughly plated armor. A tiny scratch wouldn't kill them, but rather turn them into Raakghouls themselves, which was an unbearable thought to them.
The squad had brought with them simple yet effective weaponry. Each squad member was armed with vibroblades, a backpack full of explosives, and armed with the finest of blasters. Yet, even though the squad had agreed to help out with this task, they weren't very trusting of their II mates. They had made preparations just in case the II tried to ditch them or deceive them.
The squad exited the GR75 and scouted the area around them. There was what seemed to be the remains of an LZ and an entrance into ice caves. Other than that, it was vast, open, icy wilderness. They had even expected the weather to be terribly cold, yet the heating mechanism in their armor was starting to make them sweat. It might've been an icy planet, but it wasn't as cold as it seemed.

Kunta was the first of the Imperium people out into the snow. Like the Alliance troopers, her armor kept her insulated from the cold. Unlike the Alliance troopers, she wasn't carrying an excessive amount of firepower. She was outfitted with only an M-CLAW fitted out with a overpowered stun module. The weapon wouldn't cause damage to the walls & structure of the citadel, but anything living caught in the conical blasts would be shredded on a cellular level.
Of course, that wasn't the extent of what the Imperium was bringing into the fight. An even two dozen Mark 1 MER drones hovered in a loose cloud around her. Each was functionally identical to the weapon she carried, in fact both designs were based on the same models & interchangeable. The only real difference was that the M1s had a drone brain & a replusor coil instead of a stock & a grip. Kunta made certain to pass out small IFF discs to the Alliance troopers. That would prevent the overly simplistic M1s from accidentally targeting them as well as the rakghouls. Sangurk would be staying with the ship with several more M1s, just in case the beasts attempted to counterattack.
-Kunta Ok boys, keep this simple. We go in, clear it out & try to avoid excessive damage. Historical site & all that. Hang on to those discs unless you want my little pets taking pot shots at you. They are going is with shoot to kill orders on anything that moves that isn't broadcasting an IFF. Any questions before we head in there?

The squad stood in front of the ice caves, ready to enter as it was a huge shortcut through to the Harbor itself. Hiking around the mountain would take much longer.
-Drez Don't you worry about us. We've dealt with much worse than drones. Commando droids and General Grievous are just to name a few.
Vorik stepped inside the cave to examine e it but immediately slipped and fell flat on his face. Drez and Jackie couldn't help laughing at him. To make matters even more awkward, Lynch failed to help Vorik up and slipped on the ice, landing on Vorik's back.
Drez was finally able to help the duo up and he could sense their glares through the helmets.
-Lynch Where exactly are the Rakghouls? Let's get this over with.
Weapons were already set to kill. The question to them is who'd actually be doing the killing? Them or the Rakghouls.

She managed not to react to the stumbling of the troopers, it would be unprofessional to laugh. Her own boots had advanced traction system that would more or less let her walk on walls & ceilings. A handy feature when one spent a fair amount of time poking around in zero-g environments. The M1s were even less restricted than that as they floated around on invisible curtains of repulsor energy.
-Kunta The limited intel we has says they have nested down somewhere in the citadel itself.
She gave the Alliance troopers a quizzical look, one which they could see thanks to the holosystem that projected a copy of her face outside her helmet.
-Kunta How old are you four? Wasn't Grievous one of the leaders in the old clone wars? That was the better part of standard galactic century ago.

-Izmar What do you mean by century ago? I'm taking your statement with a grain of sand.
The tension grew among the squad members as none of them believed what the woman was saying. None of them believed that they had been in stasis for over a century. Nobody had even informed them about the date. After they recovered from carbon freezing, they were thrown straight to Rhen Var to deal with Rakghouls.
-Drez We're all in our early 20s. And the last major event we remember before stasis is the failure of the Kamino Uprising. We were also in stasis between that and Order 66.
A few Clone Troopers had escaped with them and were frozen in carbonite too and Drez was yet to set out to look for them on one of the worst planets in the galaxy.
The squad had noticed they had already entered the ice caves and so switched on their scanners and sensors to detect any Rakghouls. Weapons were drawn, set to kill.

Kunta wasn't familiar with either of those events & so took a quick second to look them up on the private Imperium holonet. It took her a moment to calculate that date into something the troopers would be familiar with.
-Kunta Ok, so Order 66 seems to have happened in year 16 after the Great ReSynchronization. That is the calendar system you are familiar with yes?
She pauses for a moment to allow at least one of the troopers to reply.
-Kunta The Clone Wars Kamino Uprising happened in year 23. In that system, the current year is 153. Nearly half the galaxy doesn't even use that system anymore. All the factions that base themselves or model themselves after the Old Republic use a system based on the Battle of Yavin, which happened in the year 35. Most factions that base themselves off of Palpatine's empire use either the Resynch or the Yavin system. My own nation uses a calendar based off the death of Palpatine, as that marks the last point there was really a unified galaxy wide government. In that system the year is 107.
She paused again to let that sink in. Ahead of the slowly progressing group, her M1 drones swept forward, mapping out the chasms & plotting a path for the group through the mountain of shifting ice. They would also serve as an early warning if any of the rakghouls happened to be wandering out into the caves. With their current progress, it wouldn't be too much longer until the group entered the citadel & started looking for the actual nest.
-Kunta The galaxy is a vastly different place now. Most star nations only have control over their own system, with maybe a few lightly inhabited neighbors. More powerful factions control areas the size of Old Republic sectors. Only three groups come close to being regional powers. The First Order more or less follows the imperial teachings of Palpatine. The Galactic Alliance, of which you seem to be part, follows the ways of the Old Republic. My own people are part of the Mandalorian Assembly. All three are based in the north of the galaxy. Pretty much the entire galactic south is a badlands of lawless systems, pirates, & warlords.

Drez dropped his weapon in shock, leaving a crack in the ice, at what Kunta was saying. Had they really been in stasis for 130 years? How is it that no one had found them for that long? They were on the Empire's most wanted list.
-Vorik 130 years in stasis. That means....
-Izmar Everyone we know is dead.
The reality hit the squad really hard. They realized while they were talking about the current date, they had reached the end of the ice caves. As they exited the other end of the ice caves, they looked around and images of clone troopers battling of droids spread throughout the harbor along with an AT-TE advancing from behind the lighthouse, firing at AATs. They were clearing a path for Anakin Skywalker to reach fallen Jedi Ulic Qel-Droma's tomb while also seizing a CIS sensors station. When the memory faded, they observed the harbor and it was still in the same state it was left in. Blast marks had faded but the holes were still present. Fallen pillars weren't rebuilt either.
-Drez I remember this place really well. To the citadel you said, eh? I know the way.
Drez, followed by the squad, proceeded by the stairs to the left of the cave's exit. The entrance to the citadel was just at the end.
