[Approaching Fiyarro from the west]Mahir walked briskly as he approached the outer limits of the city. His bag upon his back, his jumpsuit rather wrinkled, stained, as well as more than a bit worn and faded. His scaly skin is the color of wet slate, his eyes are solid white with no visible pupils. His jumpsuit had been black at one point, but was now a splotchy grey pattern. His boots at least seemed to retain their original black color, though the shine was long gone. His right hip sported a light saber, a gift from his master. His wings remained tucked behind him, he knew from experience that flying about on his own in a strange place was a good way to get shot. He hoped things would not start so exciting... particularly since his craft lay in a literal heap a few hundred meters behind him. The crashed craft definitely had raised eyebrows from the city's sentries and security. Even before Mahir could remotely approach Fiyarro, several skiffs issued forth and zoomed in on the location, each carrying a squad of the Duke's security troops. Their commanding officer, a minor nobleman, was on the lead skiff. The skiffs touched down ahead of Mahir with a couple flying over to examine the damaged craft. The soldiers immediately drew their blasters, but did not point and aim at the individual. The nobleman steps down from the skiff, approaching Mahir.I am going to need some papers, sir. Your... flight was not scheduled.

As the skiffs approached, Mahir stopped and stood with his hands open by his sides, in a relaxed posture. He doesn't make any visible reaction to the troops or their blasters, though he did begin pulling the force to him just in case things got violent despite his best efforts. When the lord addressed him, Mahir slowly moved his hand out to either side and bowed from the waist, before rising and responding in a low gravely voice.
Ashla needs no papers and grants no papers, so I have no papers to give you sir. My name is Shihab Mahir, I am a Jedi Knight, I hail from the world Honoghr. I know not where this is, only that the force wants me here. I do apologize for the mess, you're welcome to whatever scrap you can pull from it.

The soldiers look confused at the mention of Ashla, but the nobleman knew what he meant. Any Jedi on the planet Serenno, and in the galaxy, knew of Ashla. Strange that this creature spoke of Ashla though in a way that suggested that this Jedi served the Light Side of the Force directly. The nobleman pulls out his comlink, moving away a bit to speak to his superior more than likely. It took a little time before the nobleman puts the comlink away and returns to the visitor.
You are being authorized a visitor pass by the local government. You will be taken to the main government building to speak with one of the Duke's subordinates to see if an audience is necessary with my liege. While Jedi are welcomed here, we still need to follow protocol for... unexpected guests.
The nobleman says as he glances at the wrecked spacecraft. Afterward, he gestures to the skiff as an indication to follow.

"Oh? Am I not expected? Are there no seers here? Perhaps they simply had other things to see. Yes quite so, much darkness to hold the thoughts and worries of seers and soldiers alike. What with the First Order bullying every system it can put a thruster in..."
Mahir's speech ran into an unintelligible mumbling growl as he nodded and followed the man back to the designated skiff. He muttered the who way back to town, going on about sparks and shadows, currents and forces. His mind was still processing much of the news he had learned on departing Honoghr, where he had been content to sit in isolation training and being trained in turn. But now that the RDMC was more or less a galactic neutral zone and a backwater to boot, his services were no longer needed there. And following the light of Ashla had brought him here, apparently without bothering to tell anyone he was coming. A tad rude perhaps, but Ashla surely had her reasons.
At the skiff, Mahir would set his bag between his feet as he took his seat. He didn't seem to notice anything or anyone around him, but he never bumped into anything, stumbled, or jostled anyone either. It was fairly evident that he was much more aware of his surroundings than his absent muttering might otherwise lead others to believe. He particularly took note of the visible defenses around and through the city, noting in his mind the effectiveness of each, given placement, firing arcs, and relative power. He noted the city was well defended against all but a determined assault, and wondered where in the galaxy he might be that such defenses would be needed and manned by people so alert. It was likely they expected an attack, or at least thought it probable. He hadn't seen much action since the policing action on Ryloth, but he had been keeping abreast of his training regime and was still battle ready.

Strange company, thought the nobleman. Even his own soldiers seemed a little bewildered by their visitor who didn't seem to make much sense as he mumbled here and there. Nonetheless, the skiff took off into Fiyarro, taking one of the secured military lanes toward the center of the city. The skiff would approach a rather large government building which had been built by the Duke to serve as his place of living, the center of his local government, and the administration of his Ducal domain. The skiff touched down within one of the hangar bays. From there, Mahir was escorted by soldiers and the nobleman into the interior.
A little ways down a corridor, they would stop before a well-dressed individual, escorted by two troopers of greater status from their appearance. The man before Mahir was introduced as the Steward of Fiyarro and the Ducal Domains of House Malvern, a Bothan male by the name of Utri. He had recently been acquired, by the recommendation of the previous Steward, by the Duke to serve the capacity he now held. The nobleman departed, leaving the Steward Utri to deal with Mahir.
=Steward Utri= Greetings, visitor. I have been informed of your arrival. Unfortunately, the Duke is busy right now so we will have to ask some questions while we wait. I do have to ask what brought to Serenno? Your flight pattern wasn't... registered with our planet's security nor did we find anything that indicated your status as a merchant or a mercenary. You did mention Ashla, so I wonder if you are a Jedi. Please, fill in the necessary details so I can get a picture here.

Mahir quieted as he was lead into the building. Noting the new guards, he is pleased to security was being taken seriously here. He nods a brief farewell to the noble who had escorted him this far. He was mildly annoyed that the man apparently hadn't had a proper report sent ahead, but it would do him little good dwell on it. With a last muttered rumble, he took a breath and did his best to answer the Stewards unspoken questions.
"Have your kind not found the means of making commlinks yet? ... Yes, I am a Jedi. I was ranked a knight the last time it made a difference. I came from the world Honoghr, at an impulse from Ashla. I admit she brought me ... a little closer to my destination than usual. Given the current state of my ship, that might have been to keep it from breaking up in re-entry over a friendly area, that would have caused headaches aplenty. I may have been called to fight, it's something I have a small talent for."
Looked around, and noticing the lack of available refreshments, pulled a flask from on of the many pouches on his well worn flight suit and took swig of his shig. Mahir capped and replaced the flask in its pouch before asking a few questions of his own.
Would you mind telling me which planet we're on sir? Ashla doesn't give many details when she calls, just sort of pulls you along. And what conflict is this city currently engaged in? I noticed the ample defenses and particularly the alertness of the guards here. This city is at war, but with whom and why?
The journey and this meeting was somewhat tedious, but not unexpected. He was feeling out the city with the force... it seemed concerned, but not for itself. The world was at war and the city its leader to protect them. Not too far from him he sensed others like him, but didn't press upon their minds. They could find him if they wanted too. It was fairly likely he wouldn't be going much of anywhere for the next few hours.

Aurora Valhalla [RETIRED] Abi Bruce Lyrica Starlight With all gathered within the audience hall, the Duke Malvern could begin the meeting. He reaches forward, keying some buttons on a console attached to the main table where all were able to sit at. A large screen appeared in the middle and came to life, letting a light blue glow illuminate the room. Lights were dimmed as a terrain map of the Bruce's ancestral holdings came up. Red indicators suddenly went off in various locations, intelligence gathered by Malvern's agents and scouts as they prepared for the upcoming campaign to liberate these lands.I will get straight to the point, ladies and gentlemen. We are facing a strong force... the commander of these rebels is the brother of the warlord that started everything that has gone wrong on this world. His name is Drexel, brother of Deros the Bloody. These rebels have experience and are ruthless. Do not underestimate them.Lucien then keys up some in depth images, performed by aerial and orbital scouting. There were scenes of gun emplacements, encampments, armed patrols and suspicious looking locations that appeared to be slave pens or forced labor camps. The Duke of Fiyarro looks over at Abigail, exhaling slightly.Your lands have been ravaged... and they may be ravaged again by this campaign. These rebels will fight with tenacity and brute force against our attempt to reclaim your lands. Know that I can help if need be, but... are you ready for the reality that awaits you there, Lady Bruce? Abi, though her poies and lady like stance did not change, it did seem a weight was set upon her shoulders. Looking around at those gathered she slowly nodded. She knew what the correct choice was, and what they had to do. None of this would be easy, but she had trained for this day and would not back down now, not when she was so close to freeing her people and avenging her parents.=Abigail=I would not have returned if I was not ready. But I am not here to fight for land or riches, but for the people that have suffered in my families absence. Land and buildings can be regrown and rebuilt, but the people are what's important. Save them and we will have true victory. She turned to Aurora. And I'm glad to see some have not forgotten my family, I hope others will follow your lead and rise up and help secure their own freedom. But if not, we will win it for them.

A story that the planet has endured for several years. To best summarize everything, our home endured a period of upheaval and strife. The answer Abigail gave was most pleasing to hear. Many nobles had lost their purpose and senses when the war happened, but people like the Lady Bruce remembered her true duty. Lucien knew the people would be happy to see her again. However...We will have to do our best to minimize our losses and those of the civilian population. I fear the rebels will turn on the innocent if we were to attack boldly and directly. We must ensure that little harm is done while still being able to secure a total victory.Duke Malvern brings up the map of the lands they were seeking to invade, labeled the Bruce Domain collectively. Soon, new information popped up, revealing various scanning towers and locations. The rebel Derek was wealthy from these lands and was able to afford many necessities for defense. Yet, it was obvious from this examination, there were still holes. Our best method is to launch our external attack is to breach the defenses through these holes in their defensive scanning towers. Keep low to the ground and make best speed for their strategic locations. Once we can gain the upper hand, my main forces will launch their full scale attack to catch our enemy between many prongs. Speed is the key to our success.Lucien looks at those gathered.Any objections? Any suggestions?

Still, He felt even more certain that Ashla had brought him here to fight as the Bothan spoke and continued to explain the situation. Perhaps it was regrettable that the conflict still smoldered across the planet but Mahir felt honored to be allowed to participate in the planet's liberation."I am a warrior of the light, it is my calling to fight the darkness wherever it takes root. Please do me the honor of offering my services to your Lord. I am best equipped to deal with blaster or flame wielding grunts, with my abilities topping out at dealing with about twelve to fifteen grunts at a time. I will trust him to find the best use for me in his campaign against Bogan's forces here."Mahir unclips and offers his lightsaber as he speaks, which being bio-encoded would not ignite for anyone besides Mahir without some significant effort. He hopes he's remembered the feudal ritual correctly, and is sincerely offering his skill and experience to be used in the ongoing conflict.

Aurora had remained silent when Abigail had entered the room. She had heard stories of her Liege-Lady's beauty, since the return of House Bruce to Serenno. But witnessing it in person, she was able to say that the stories did not do the woman justice. A fact for which it took some feat of self-control to stop herself from blushing. But one made all the more easier as Lord Malvern spoke up and laid out the facts of what they were about to attempt. A task that Abigail seemed undaunted by.
She felt a chill run through her as the Countess addressed her personally. Aurora fought to keep calm, waiting as Lord Malvern spoke up once again. The map appearing before them detailing the lands that rightfully belonged to House Bruce, and the defences that had been set up by the usurpers. She had seen many of them first hand over the years in her own struggles. But unlike then, now she would be part of a larger force that could actually do something. She kept her focus upon Abigail then My Lady, while I may be the last of the Valhalla Family, I stand true to the oath that has been sworn generation after generation to your House... Today I renew that oath to stand in service of your House! This is a fight I have embarked upon my whole life, but united, we can achieve freedom for those that cannot fight themselves... The plan is sound and keeps the focus upon our forces.

Abi studied the map in front of her. She had been taught rudimentary tactics, though that was not her strong suit, nor did simulations and class prepare for the real thing. It sickened her to see many of the once fertile fields and pleasant hamlets turned into defensive fortifications. But she could not see any problems with this plan on paper, so looking up finally to those gathered, particularly Malvern, the young Baroness nodded.
=Abigail= I don't have a strong mind for battle plans, so I will trust in the wisdom of those who have already waged war and have the necessary experience. Turning then to Aurora. I graciously accept your renewed oath to my family. I look forward to fighting by your side. Turning back to the gathered company. All of your sides, as we liberate my people.

The 2.6 meter tall, slate colored gargoyle of a jedi followed the Bothan steward through the the varied passages to meet the lord of the city and it's surrounding lands. His pack still on his back, sandwiched between his wings, he had an awkward time of squeezing through a few of the smaller doors. Arriving at a hall, Mahir gladly stands and stretches, shaking out his wings as he is introduced to the Duke Malvern. The Dukes query puzzles him and he tilts his head a moment blinking his white eyes several times as if trying to unsee an odd thing. Mahir's bass voice rumbled through the hall, carrying easily to the farthest corners without being shouted. His eyes studied the one identified as Duke Lucien Malvern, though Mahir kept track of every individual in the room.
"Do gentlemen often wear such well used flightsuits? Really the landing was the least strange bit of my arrival, didn't even skip. Is it your habit to employ a creature of deceit in a time of conflict? What odd fellows you all are. He spoke what he believes to be true, which is the best any of us can do. Ashla has brought me here for a reason and it seems likely that I am to serve in the ongoing conflict. Since she brought me to your doorstep, almost exactly, it seems logical that I should be employed in your service... sir."
The sir was almost too late entirely, but Mahir did manage to remember that bit of protocol at the last second. He wasn't terribly familiar with feudal protocol, beyond the holo-dramas, but he was fairly certain that lords were addressed as sir... or something similar. He hoped his appearance and manners weren't offensive, but it wouldn't surprise him in the least to learn that they were. He knew next to nothing about this area of space, except that the Mandolorian homeworld was in this quadrant of space... he had many scars from his interactions with them on Yavin IV. All but healed now, thanks to the healers there and at the RDMC. He sincerely hoped he wouldn't have to fight any of their kind here.

Lucien gives the Bothan a curious glance as the Steward leans over to speak quietly into his liege's ear. It seemed this visitor spoke of Ashla often and claimed to be a Jedi Knight as well. It made the Duke wonder if he served the Jedi Order or Ashla directly. Lucien would lean forward, placing his hands upon the large table within the audience hall. It seemed the male was in some contemplation before standing up straighter to look directly at Mahir.
Ashla works in mysterious ways, as the saying goes. Just as fate and the Force are the same too.
Lucien starts off with those words before continuing.
The conflict here may shortly be over. The rebels are on the run, locations are being liberated, and order is being restored... but I doubt our task will end here, Jedi Knight Mahir. It may very well take us beyond Serenno to new worlds to liberate from the chaos of this galaxy. You sound certain of entering my services and I will not question that any further.
Malvern glances at his Steward for a moment.
Make a note, Utri. State that Jedi Knight Mahir is to be granted the rank of Knight of Fiyarro within my court. If he shows his loyalty and usefulness, he may very well find himself raised to that of Baron. Ensure the nobility and the knights of my service know of this.

Mahir waited patiently, listening to words that meant little as he was reasonably certain of the outcome. After the steward is instructed to note his rank, he waits a moment further inspecting to be given instructions. Where to report for more detailed evaluation of his skills at the least, perhaps a place to billet for now... The man seemed moderately distracted though, so perhaps it was simply a greater imposing issue that held his focus.
"I suppose I should acquire house colors. Where should I requisition those and then to whom should I report for further instructions and induction to your services at a practical level, Sir?"
Mahir was moderately confused by the disparity between the well ordered city guards and the distracted lord Malvern. Perhaps his own arrival was coinciding with a particularly trying time for the Lord. He hopes that integration will not prove particularly troublesome, he wasn't terribly fond of ceremony and formality, so he was eager to reach the action as soon as possible. He stood relatively still for a living being, when not speaking, his solid white eyes apparently staring at nothing.

Lucien leans back in his chair for a moment, contemplating during that time. He looks over at Utri.
Utri, what positions are available within... the Ducal Guard?
The Bothan pulls out his datapad and begins reviewing the rank and file.
=Utri= Several, Sire. We did lose a few commanders during the recent campaigns and your personal guard has suffered losses.
Lucien looks directly at Mahir as he thinks upon his options quietly. If this Mahir was to prove himself, best to situate him within the suitable position to prove himself as such. He motions to Utri, causing the Bothan to adjust his posture and ready himself to write.
Give Knight Mahir a squad command within the 2nd Cohort 'Honoris' of the Ducal Guard.
The Bothan nods as Lucien looks at Mahir.
Is this agreeable with you, Knight Mahir?

Mahir was careful to hear the words spoken and the tones behind them, it was clear Malvern was still a bit uncertain of what to do with him. And the Ducal Guard would keep Mahir close and easy to keep track of. Which probably meant it’d be far from the action. A pity, oh well. Ashla had brought him, so he would serve however he could. He wondered about the Cohort Honoris, what was it’s histroy? Had it achieved any significant feats in the recent trials? Those would be questions for the men of the unit. Malvern would have more important things to consider. He hoped that it wouldn’t be too prestigeous as he was bound to make some mistakes while settling into the unfamiliar structure. He didn’t want those mistakes to tarnish the unit’s reputation... His mind was a tad delayed in processing the last query as it failed to pick up the change in recipient at first pass.
"Hmm? Oh, certainly Sir. Where might I find this Cohort Honoris? I’m sure your men can fill in any details I’ve forgotten to ask about so far. I see you have other matters to attend too."
Mahir gestured to the table covered in maps surrounded by generals and advisors. He had hoped to be sent directly to a point of conflict, but this was a good interaction. He had a place in the Ducal Guard, and had been trusted with some men to command. He’d never really commanded men before. He’d fought certainly, but most armies had their own command lines, he had been a special team unto himself or with other Jedi who were equals. This would be a new experience for him, and he looked forward to the many new challenges that would come with it.
If he was sent or lead away from the study, Mahir would offer a parting blessing he’d grown accustomed to using. It would further mark him as an oddity among Jedi, even among the Jedi Lords.
“May Ashla’s light ever guide and warm you, Sir Malvern.”

Malvern looks to his steward as Utri brings up the present data on Cohort Honoris. The Duke takes the datapad, examining it quietly for a moment. The Ducal Guard was being readied for deployment in the upcoming campaign. The first Mahir would participate in and prove his usefulness or his incompetency. If Ashla guided him here, the Duke had to bet on the former in terms of the two paths. Mahir did seem to carry an air of confidence in his word and posture. Confidence was what would lead to good things, hopefully.
Currently, Cohort Honoris is preparing with the Ducal Guard to deploy. Hopefully, in a few days. We are sending troops to liberate lands once held by the Lady Abigail Bruce, a baroness who has recently returned to her home of Serenno. The Ducal Guard will certainly among the planned prongs of this campaign, if the Lady Bruce agrees to my strategy.
These weren't his lands after all and Malvern felt he needed Lady Bruce's approval before moving forward. Otherwise, Lucien would have to remake his strategy to one that was more agreeable to baroness. Hopefully, it would be approved and the troops could deploy within a few short days.
If you need assistance, speak with Lieutenant Colonel Xandus Marius. He commands the Ducal Guard and has experience. You can trust him, Jedi Knight Mahir. I will ensure he and the commander of Cohort Honoris are aware of your appointment within my ranks.

Mahir was glad that the unit would deploy soon, but sad that it would take days to depart. It must be a large force going out to secure the lands of another lord. That didn't make much sens based on what little he remembered of holo-dramas he'd watched that contained a feudal system, but maybe he was remembering things wrong. Lieutenant Colonel Xandus Marius, Mahir repeated the name to himself several times in his head to be sure he would remember it later. Nodding to himself he bounced on the balls of his feet and inquired if there was anything else required of him by the Lord Malvern or his gathered commanders.
Very well, is there anything else I need or that you require of me sir?

With Serenno mostly united, the war effort on the planet was starting to fade as law enforcement groups took over the work of soldiers. However, the battles of Serenno were over, but the battles beyond were in the making. The Jedi Lords, as they called themselves now, were planning a big raid against the Imperials and scooping out prospects for expanding beyond the system. As a result, the Duke Malvern still drilled his troops to ensure they were a crack force, ready for any battle to come. Today, he oversaw, and even participated, in the training of the Fiyarro Ducal Guard, composed of 6,000 elite troops and thirty squires of the Malvern Jedi ranks.
The Duke began walking among the training area where the squares were located, composed of various species, not only just native Serennonians. The one that always seemed to stand out was the recent addition, Jedi Knight Mahir, the Stenax that crashed on the planet and was offered a chance to serve House Malvern. Lucien could see he was getting along with the structure of command, but these drills were to familiarize with each other and build comradery among the rank and file. The Duke wanted his troops to trust each other and rely on one another in the thick of battle. It was how a strong army was built.
Lucien came to a halt, watching as several potential members came together for sparring matches. It was a good way to build up strength and learn from each other. Malvern wondered who Mahir might be fighting today if he joined in. The Stenax had proven some worth during the recent campaigns.
