As Captain McMahon continued to organise things around him as he saw fit Ciarán and Laoch sat a long while, each playing out the what ifs in their minds. Laoch spoke -Laoch- “What’s the next move?” Laoch had ideas but wanted to dig out those of Ciarán and see how they harmonized and how they differed. Easier that way he thought as opposed to just blurt out his intentions as he so often did. Taking what ifs and acting on them as being what is was dangerous ground. And being so spontaneous Laoch was often wrong, as he full understood. That was a saving grace with him; he knew his flaws Ciarán, so hot tempered and more than willing and able to back up his feelings had a very conflicting, and quite complimentary aspect to his personality. And that was pragmatism and a calculated expression of that sensibility. Ciarán took some time before responding repeating Laoch’s query -Ciarán- “What next?” Voice cool and slow -Ciarán- “We been chewing on this for some time…. And flip-flopping like a little kids.” A smile growing on both of their faces for a flash and this hard truth did not erupt into debate. Instead again both fell silent. They had been developing ideas on the seat of their pants as the bounced around the universe. The climate out there was becoming very clear -Ciarán- "What we have out there is mfs building empires - or.... other mfs opposing those building empires." Laoch listened intently; Ciarán might have spoke street but he was smarter than many would give him credit for. Laoch interjected -Laoch- Leaves a lot of room up the middle...." The statement earned a smile -Ciarán- "Correct! You win a prize!" Both laughed a stretch -Ciarán- "Why is it people have some fool idea that crime falters under totalitarianism?" Not awaiting an answer to the rhetorical he continued -Ciarán- "Both of us know all too well that it flourishes....." Shrugging -Ciarán- "There's our niche." Both men slapped hands then lit cigarettes. Laoch spoke -Laoch- "We are already putting it togeather... so we just keep moving...." Ciarán didn't respond, nor did he have to. They were coming to the same conclusion every step of the way. This started on some blown up vision of revolution and grandeur, where it belonged is where they came from - the streets. That odd, potentially violent place that many claimed to understand but few if any demonstrated. Frankly the grand assumptions made by many - most - shocked Ciarán. Shocked only in as much as the lack of awareness was so pronounced. That too was to their benefit. So the course was clear. Ciarán looked around him assessing. A lot of potential - a whole lot.... Then it struck him. Snapping his fingers he spoke -Ciarán- "Spice." Laoch mummbled -Laoch- "Ya.... makes or breaks a meal." A seering glare hit Laoch -Laoch- "I can feel that shit Ciarán." The response was fast -Ciarán- "I mean spice as in drugs." Lips pursing -Laoch- "I wouldn't mind getting stoned myself but that costs credits we want to make credits." This was one of the times, many times that Ciarán actually wanted to kill Laoch - slow and brutally -Ciarán- "I mean distribution.... Dig?" Laoch smiled as he looked at his brethren -Laoch- "Cool; I'm so down." Venue of criminal activity chosen, beyond doubt an enterprise that would ruin lives, silence, peace and tranquillity ruled the minds of the deranged duo again

Laoch came alive frantically walking on wearily surrounded by a majestic beauty of lush jungle. But the path before him was clouded by fear. No - terror. Anticipation. Heart pounding he froze. Then the picturesque landscape transformed into a lake of fire. The fighters soared past and the sonic blast could be heard. He broke into running, sweat poured from hair rolling down temples stinging the eyes helplessly hoping. Hoping to escape. But strange caught between the inner terror and fiery picturesque scene a peculiar freedom filled the heart. A voice calling from behind tore him abruptly from the place. Eyes opening he realised it was but a dream. Ciarán at his side snored. Laoch, lighting a cigarette sat silently alone wishing himself back in the passion filled void from which he had just escaped but seconds ago. The universe was moving on..... What next? This he wondered gazing out desperately at all and everything for an answer but nothing leapt out as response. Emptiness surrounded them

Lieutenant Plunkett grew weary, feet itching. The Wayfarer sat idle the men in wait. An order... anything. But idle they lay

Captain McMahon approached, signalling to both the Ó Dubhuí and Plunkett. Meeting them he laid out his plans. The docking bay was a dark yet busy place, excellent for secrecy.
Laoch eyed a YT-1300 light freighter that sat docked several spaces away. Beautiful ship. Ciarán also woke suddenly siting up. He silently sat beside Laoch, himself lighting a cigarette. His eyes fell onto the ship that had just caught the attention of Laoch. Ciarán could feel something coming but knew not what

The queer quartet of Morrígu, Boland, Maureen & Fiach Dubh materialized from out of nowhere standing beside the YT-1300 light freighter. Given the wild trail that they had blazed in the past short time this was nothing to the three humans. Yet it was overwhelming too. Maureen spoke -Maureen- "I think that we're alive again....." Boland looked at the ship -Boland- "I think this bitchin piece of machinery is ours." Morrígu added -Morrígu- I think that I'm going to cry." The Raven added -Fiach Dubh- "I know if you three keep on with this nonsense that I am going to puke."

The pair sat watching. The abrupt appearance of the group was shocking. Ciarán muttered -Ciarán- "Did you just see that?" Still shifting his eyes like a person trying to gain focus with their glasses removed Laoch answered -Laoch- "I did.... Now imagine what this will bring." Both running on that became momentarily locked in the possibilities

Boland fast comprehended that indeed they had control of the vessel. Keys sat in the palm of his right hand and codes ran across the mind. Opening a hatch they entered. Morrígu found her trunk laid on the floor. The ship was stocked but they did not run inventory straight away. Not the adults anyway; Maureen rooted through the ship like an overzealous member of the LAPD shaking down of a crack-house. The ship was an armoury. Boland sighed taking the pilots seat. At last Morrígu quit staring falling to her knees she ripped open her trunk and began rooting through it assessing her possessions. The Raven sat perched in a corner. They were happy. And that he was fine with. He had noticed the two men watching. Them and their underlings. He would deal with them soon enough

The men watched the Juvex version of the Brady Bunch enter the YT-1300 light freighter. Ciarán stood shaking his head and said -Ciarán- "We might was well introduce ourselves to the neighbors....." Laoch stood with a smile on his face. The two men sauntered across the docking bay. They reached the vessel. Ciaran looked at the button at the side of the door then rapped three times hard on a window

All three humans looked to the window with a start. The Raven didn’t flinch -Fiach Dubh- “Juat a pair of hooligan’s” Boland had his DL-44 heavy blaster in right hand holding it up by his face. Morrígu too drew a blaster. With Boland on the left Morrígu took the right with Maureen smartly ducked behind her. The child held an EC-17 hold-out blaster she had found. The Raven thought

As The Raven willed it lightening struck from out of nowhere. It was but a flash. A flash that parted Laoch's hair. Ciaran jumped back in terror pulling his pistol -Ciarán- "WTF just happened?" Laoch, a thin bald patch now cut right down his part-line also pulled a blaster -Laoch- "Didn't you want to meet the neighbors mf?"

The lightning strike sent a collective shock wave through the three humans. Boland threw the hanger door open blaster now extended, left hand set on right forearm. He looked down on the pair with a savage glare. Morrígu's jaw and brows dropped but she too had her blaster aimed at the men. Maureen hung onto Morrígu's left leg. The Raven was still

A smile rose on Ciarán's face. A smile warm and inviting -Ciaran- "Greetings. Obviously new in town.... We come in love and friendship not hate and alienation." Laoch had his own DL-44 heavy blaster drawn and a bead on Boland. Ciaran, hands extended spoke gently -Ciaran- "Ok... everybody on three lower the weapons. One..... Two.... Three....." He went slow dropping to a slur on the last word

Boland held his stance but at a quick glance to Morrígu she slowly lowered her gun. Boland lowered his pistol in synchronicity with Laoch. Slow.... Watch the man. Slow. Slow. Sow. Maureen held fast to the left thigh of Morrígu. Boland was the last to bring his weapon down. All eyes missed Maureen holding a EC-17 hold-out blaster tight to her chest. The Raven wondered if this all meant that he couldn't fry these amadants. Pity that he though

A beaming smile on Ciarán's face he exclaimed -Ciarán- "Now I believe that all of this got off in the wrong direction." Gesturing to Laoch -Ciarán- "This is Laoch." The other man nodded at the group as he eyed them carefully. Ciarán continued his greetings -Ciaran- "I myself am Ciarán. And might I be so bold as to ask whom you people are? He smiled politely

The Raven spoke -Fiach Dubh- "I myself they call Fiach Dubh." The child, still safely clinging to the thigh of Morrígu inspired by the voice blurted out -Maureen- "My name is Maureen. Hi Laoch! Hi Ciaran!" In spite of herself Morrígu laughed at the child's innocent openness yet inwardly she mourned the path that they were leading her on. She said quietly -Morrígu- "Morrígu." Eyes watching the men close, Eyes then hands, Boland spoke with an upward nod -Boland- "Ok.... my name is Boland."

Ciarán almost spit when the bird spoke. That in turn made him consider the lightening. Made sense. Laoch to heard the bird and considered running with confidence. One thing did not escape either; the birds name. Ciarán spoke matter of factly -Ciaran- "Strange.... Dubh is the surname of both Laoch and myself...." He kept his gaze on the group. Laoch said nothing but was paying more and more attention to the talking crow. The thing was freakish

The four heard Ciarán’s words. He said but a few words yet one of these caught the attention of all of them. Even The Raven and wee Maureen now listened keenly. It was but a simple word that was part of what he had said. His use of the word itself was interesting but the man's context of the word was mind-blowing. Dubh. According to the man Ciarán this word was the professed surname of the two. That captured the attention of all four. And a child shall lead them, so the adage goes. Here Maureen blurted out -Maureen- “You're related to the bird? Wow.” Then added on questioningly -Maureen- “Wait... that’s An Tiarna’s last name too…..” Eyes narrowing she ventured -Maureen- “Do you know him?” Boland’s head cocked to the right. Morrígu was struck, perhaps like no other among them and she awaited a response. The Raven, sat quiet yet even he was less dispassionate than regular

As much as Ciarán casually dropping the word Dubh into his getting to know you banter affected the four, the intimate knowledge of it among them, expressed by Maureen hit Ciarán and Laoch equally hard. Both straightened up when the girl mentioned An Tiarna -Laoch- “You know the Old man?” Looking down at the girl, shaking off the momentary distraction of Morrígu’s thigh -Laoch- “He’s our grandfather.” Then grasping -Laoch- “Where did you freaks come from?” Ciarán listened for the answer

The girl replied matter-of-factly -Maureen- “We were dead. I got crushed in a shuttle accident.” Morrígu again lowered her head stifling a laugh. Boland held a grim face but he too saw the humor in Maureen’s blunt declaration. The Raven added -Fiach Dubh- "I brought them to the Otherworld…." Voice eerily detached -Fiach Dubh- "Then back again.”
