Nebulosity Apartments - Rooftop
After leaving the Intelligence Department, Andros made a brief detour to his office to grab his stuff and also review the other things that might be important, or things he had to put on hold while this matter concerning him was occurring, but now he was there on the rooftop a few hours later, after dropping Elika and Lana off here. Andros took a deep breath as he was looking at his datapad wondering if he should be sending a message to Elika now, or just give her a little bit longer with Delaana Wan.
He didn't know whether he should be glad that Elika was with Lana, or not. He also knew that if any one found out about this, particularly Elika, everything would just blow into a bigger proportion than he could ever anticipated, but that had been the only thing he could do, not that he had even asked for that thing to happen, but he supposed that it was the most obvious thing to do.
Gritting his teeth and finally sending an encrypted holonet message to Elika, Andros started to type on his portable datapad.
Hitting the send button, Andros tucked his datapad to its holder and placed his arms on the steering handle of the airspeeder closing his eyes briefly, of course since he was still having those electric shocks on his wrist, Andros couldn't quite meditate nor was he actually willing to be aware of everything occurring around him with the Force, before that for now was something he preferred not to get into, especially when he knew that he was low on sleep and irritable to a certain point. Thankfully though he did have a good time at the lakehouse and that made him smirk when he thought about all of it again...

The Hallowed Grounds
Insofar, what Franz knew about Ayodele, actually that big part of him was feeling guilty that he was imposing this on her. The one that she should know about the current events on this planet. It really made him feel guilty because, wasn't he imposing that to her, in order for him to reveal more, she'd had to keep up with things, when clearly she didn't seem to be in the business of keeping up the ongoing things on the planet. He just hoped that it wasn't too bothersome to her, but at the same time, that was his condition so to speak...
"You know? I am really sorry to make you do that, to make you keep up with what is happening here..." Franz frowned deeply, he really was feeling guilty. He just hoped that all of that wouldn't prevent him from spending more time with her, and if that were the case, then he supposed that he would have no choice but to let this moment go. His family, their safety, meant a lot to Franz, and if his status was going to be a liability to them, he knew he had to draw the line from what he really wanted and doing the right thing too. Although, that other part of him envied a little Ayodele's stance right there, the luxury of not having to keep up on current events, that really was something he'd want to experience one of these days, but that may certainly not happen any time soon, or ever.
Picking up his cup of coffee, and taking a sip from it while he had closed his eyes, his hears were still trained on what she had been saying, or what she had asked him. Thankfully that was something he wouldn't have trouble to speak about since that was solely about him and him only, right? He chuckled at her wording, again his striking female friends came up, and that clearly amused him. "I hike, over the mountainous part, at least here around the planet, and for the most boring part..." Franz chuckled at the thought, after all a few, or a lot could qualify that as boring. So why not? "I read books, learn, mainly about tech, or even medicine, at least the natural path to it, and thankfully I have one of my cousin's for that, the overly tattooed one you saw earlier?" Franz explained with a grin but he did also add on. "Just train too, to remain in shape."
Placing his cup down and smiling warmly, Franz tilted his head slightly on the side and kept looking at her. "What about you, besides working at TaSpa! and discovering places here, what other things do you do?"

Nebulosit Apartments - Today
While Elika had been viewing the stored holopics on the cam, Lana had been sipping her caf and even finishing that off as she listened attentively to what Elika had been saying. Lana was her own critic, that was a fact, and perhaps she had a hard time in being satisfied with the pictures she had taken, but Elika seemed to be enjoying those. What Delaana could see currently, Elika seemed to have relaxed and she always seemed to be that way whenever it was about painting or even music, just overall arts. Lana smiled warmly at that and shook her head when Elika mentioned that she was doing it again.
"You don't have to apologize, my Shakal," Lana sincerely said with a warm smile before adding on softly. "It's refreshing to hear someone else to talk about art, and to be able to share it with you. So please, really, whenever you feel like babbling about any thing as well, feel free, and know that I will always gladly listen." Lana meant that, and that clearly wouldn't change at all, as after all, if that enabled Elika to be comfortable, why would she even change that fact about Elika?
Smiling warmly once more as Lana thought about having some of those pictures around, that seemed like a déjà vu moment for her. "Perhaps I will, but you will have to tell me which one you prefer the most, so that is the one I will have around." Winking playfully and thinking about that followed up question of Elika's, Lana didn't actually know how to explain how she got interested in photography, but the most clear explanation she could give, perhaps, "I guess, it comes down to the fact that I have had that need to immortalize a moment that I have spent in a different world, just the fact that I wanted a souvenir so to speak, and that had been the most obvious way for me to capture that moment and that souvenir of the place I have been." Having traveled several times on different worlds to what she did really, it made sense, and hopefully Elika would be content with that overall explanation.
Tilting slightly her head on the side when she heard something chirping off, Lana glanced over the kitchen stool there, where her bag was situated, but she knew that wasn't her ringtone. "I believe that it's yours, my Shakal?" Lana said softly with an amused grin, they had been talking for a while, that she did not see the time go by, that must have been Andros contacting Elika, or it could have been someone else, either way, Lana pouted slightly knowing that Elika was bound to leave soon.

Nodding her head after Roma asks whether she has seen the cam footage from the lobby cameras, Madieke says, Most of it. Pointing out the areas of the lobby where the events she describes occurred as she speaks, Madieke explains, Perp walked in the entrance there, force pushed the lone lobby guard into a wall over there, beheaded Monite right about there, and then entered the stairwell over there by the elevators. Looks like he then made his way out of the building from there by avoiding any more cams, or he changed forms and got out unobserved that way. We'll send a copy to your datapad, Madieke says while glancing towards Nuala to let her deputy know she's been given that responsibility. Looking at her wrist chrono, Madieke tells Roma, We'll comm you when we know what time the coroner will do the autopsy, and if you can't make it we can all meet at the precinct when you're done verifying the Vyridian's whereabouts." "It sounds as though we have a plan," I tell Madieke after she has described the sequence of events captured on the security cameras in the lobby. Inclining my head in a bow as Madieke and Nuala take their leave, I rest my chin atop my hand, Tchun, my left lekku, curling around my left bicep after swishing up from behind my back as I glance around the lobby and try and try to picture the scene as Madieke described it. Though I imagine there is no evidence that the UPD did not find during their search of the stairwell, I head towards it, tapping my comlink against my hip as I debate whether to contact Atlantis or Andros first to learn where they have been throughout the evening. While I entertain no doubts whatsoever where the innocence of Andros and Atlantis is concerned, I also find myself hoping that the details of their evenings will leave no room for doubt as to the chances either of them were responsible for what befell Varik Monite.
Entering the stairwell, allowing myself to fall into the embrace of Ashla so that She might guide me if it be Her will that She reveal anything that might aid my investigation, I pause at the foot of the stairs, open and ready to listen for Her guidance as, having decided to make Andros my first contact, I input his comm frequency.
Once the comm is acknowledged, I say, "Andros? It's Serrin. I am not sure whether you have heard yet, but there was another incident this evening involving a perpetrator disguised as you or Atlantis. Varik Monite, the attorney that had publicly announced his intention to file a civil suit against you, was murdered at his law offices. The incident was captured on the buildings security cameras, with several eye witnesses also present, which may be to our benefit depending on where you and Atlantis have been tonight. SEO Aninh had the UPD make a brief statement earlier, cautioning the public about leaping to conclusions when there are many species adept at impersonation or altering their form, and it is our hope that your and Atlantis' accounts of your evenings will be ones that can be verified in order to cement both of your innocence in the matter. Can you tell me where you are now so that we can meet to discuss the matter?"

The Hallowed Grounds
Ayodele laughs merrily when Franz apologizes that he will be responsible for her beginning to take notice of what has been transpiring in the news rather than pointedly ignoring it as has been her custom for some time now, narrowing her eyes with a playful smile as she assures him in her perpetually amused, lyrical voice, "Oh, I am quite confident that it will not pain me in the least to pay a little attention to what has been happening that concerns you and your friends in some way, Franz." Having lived long enough to have witnessed how very little variation there can be in the events that play out in every scale from cities to civilizations across the universe, Ayodele does not imagine that whatever it is that concerns Franz and his friends will surprise her in the least; her concern is more with what obligation she might feel when learning of whatever is happening, for to witness, she has learned, often engenders within her a drive to act, to respond in some way, though her long life has also shown her how, ultimately, futile action can often be when most events seem to play out in the way they are meant to be no matter how many intercede, and no matter the motivation behind the intercession.
Shaking her head and reaching out to rest a cool hand over Franz's, Ayodele assures him, "Well, I find nothing about any of what you have described boring at all, Franz. Patting his hand before releasing it, Ayodele mimes taking a small sip of her drink before telling him with a bemused smile, You have already seen some of those other things, Franz. I garden, she reminds him with a wave of her hand, and I too read and learn, though my interests are less tech and medicine and more philosophical in nature. Resting her chin atop her hands after lacing her fingers together, a somewhat more distant or reflective expression and tone replacing her often amused manner of expression, Ayodele explains, Questions such as what is the nature of good and evil interest me, and others like what is the nature of time, and whether change is truly possible, her expression becomes almost mournful as she adds, or atonement. Laughing merrily when she realizes that she has lapsed from her amused manner and so casts her reflective moment aside, Ayodele shrugs languidly and says, While I have not yet found the answers to those questions, Franz, and often fear that such answers will always prove elusive, searching for them, I have found, is rewarding all the same."

Elikapeka smiles when Delaana says that she has no need to apologize, wishing that she was possessed of the self-confidence to accept such reassurances, especially when she has begun to feel so comfortable around the other woman despite the oddly delightful butterflies in the stomach being around her continues to engender within her as Elika's attraction to Delaana continues to grow and has been joined with the equally delightful jumble of burgeoning affection, admiration, and innumerable other emotions and sensations being in her company has brought to life within Elika, who has thought for so long that such feelings would be denied to her given her anxieties and the hold her past exerts on her. Crinkling her nose when asked which of Delaana's pictures she likes most, Elika says truthfully, "I'm not sure I could pick a favorite, my Ceesi, they're all really beautiful, so, she cringes with an apologetic smile, I may just have to toss that particular ball back into your court and ask which if them is the most personally meaningful to you? Lifting a hand to stroke Delaana's cheek, Elika says, Whichever one that is would be the one I prefer the most." Leaning back after taking a sip of her tea, Elika smiles as she listens to Delaana speak about how her interest in photography arose, nodding in recognition of the sentiments the other woman expresses.
Frowning when Delaana makes her aware of the fact that her datapad must be the one that has pinged, Elika pouts only somewhat playfully as she sets her cup down and rises, "It is, my Ceesi, since she suspects that the pinging means that she will need to part from Delaana soon. Reading the message from Andros reveals that soon is actually more like now, Elika not the sort to delay her departure despite her friend's assurance that she need not rush on his account, and after returning her datapad to her backpack purse, she sighs before lifting the bag onto her shoulder as she walks back to tell Delaana with an exaggerated tone of dismay and resignation, Andros is here, my Ceesi, so I'll have to be going I'm afraid. Aware she should really not feel awkward or nervous at this point, Elika nonetheless feels both as she debates how to say goodbye, her body language uncertain as she steps closer to Delaana and, settling for the less bold option, reaches out to give her a warm hug rather than something that might more brazenly make the increasing depth of her feelings obvious. Putting a hand on the back of Delaana's neck before breaking their embrace, Elika kisses her lips gently, not lingering long despite her desire to do just that before stepping back with a kittenish smile as, after a sigh that more likely than not betrays the fact she would prefer to stay and indulge in more than such chaste exchanges, she asks, Lunch tomorrow? Comm me when you're free, ok?"
Smiling happily despite feeling awkward and embarrassed about her less than bold way of saying goodbye, her happiness at the way her relationship with Delaana seems to be progressing overriding such concerns for the moment, after she and Delaana have parted Elika practically skips down the hallway outside of the other woman's apartment to make her way to where Andros is waiting. Reminding herself of all that Andros is going through, Elika does her best to look and sound less giddily ecstatic than she feels as she opens the passenger door and sits down. As she reaches for the safety belt and pulls it into place, Elika asks Andros with a tentative smile, trying to cheer him up with humor in case his mood is understandably darkened with all that he has been dealing with given the accusations facing him, "Did you have a nice day at the office, dear?"

Umgul City Morgue - Nighttime, sometime after today and tomorrow
Dr. Nic Claus has already begun his autopsy when Special Enforcement Officer Aninh enters the morgue with Nuala, but he looks up from his examination of the neck wounds sustained by Varik Monite when he hears the pneumatic doors hiss open. "Special Enforcement Officer, Nic greets Madieke in a jolly voice, and her plus one. Come closer, come closer, the white bearded coroner beckons the duo with a hand. Removing his bifocals and gesturing towards the stump of Varik Monite's neck, Nic explains, I've only just begun, but I can already tell you that the same lightsaber was used in this beheading as in those made in the killings at Mr. Sike's estate. Cleaning the lenses of his bifocals on the end of the garish red floral patterned shirt he wears beneath his white lab coat, Nic goes on, Without boring you with too much detail, all lightsabers have a unique sear pattern due to the fact the energy modulation circuits, cycling field energizers and so forth used in their constructing grant each lightsaber a distinctive . . . Chuckling as he realizes he is probably going into too much detail after claiming he would not, Nic says, Let's just say that, just like a knife or vibroblade, any lightsaber creates a wound pattern that it alone can be traced back to. I can say with the utmost confidence, after comparing these wounds to holoimages of from the Sike scene, that this wound was made by the same lightsaber used in those earlier killings."
Frowning in thought as he strokes his beard while studying Varik's severed head laying on the table with the rest of his body, Nic says, "I am not sure, however, that I can be certain it was the same being wielding the lightsaber in this instance."
Back at the law offices where the murder took place, when Master Roma extends her awareness of the Force she may find it strange that there is no lingering presence of the Dark Side as one would expect at the scene of a killing perpetrated by a Dark Side Force user. In fact, there is no sense of another Force user at all, which may suggest to the Jedi High Councilor that the killer may not, in point of fact, have been a Force user as believed.

Figure of speech. No surprises.
Nuala snickers when Claus refers to her as Madieke's plus one, repeating in an undertone, "Plus one, that's hilarious."
"Figure of speech, Madieke says in an aside before lifting a hand to wave as she greets Claus, "Doc. Hands in the pockets of her trenchcoat, Madieke steps close enough to the exam table after introducing Nuala as her deputy that she can see what the coroner points out clearly as he lays out his findings so far without getting in his way. Since she already learned from the UPD's evidence techs that the camera footage confirmed the lightsaber was identical in design to the one used at the Sike scene, the coroner's findings offer no surprises. Madieke, having the benefit of viewing the camera footage from the law office lobby, knows that Monite's killer cannot be the same as Sike's thanks to having been present when Atlantis and Vos worked their mumbo jumbo in the mist, but is interested in how Claus came to that conclusion. Having some expert testimony that relies on hard science rather than a Force power no one has ever heard of will be useful, so Madieke asks, How can you tell it's not the same killer?"

Umgul City Morgue - Nighttime, sometime after today and tomorrow
Clasping his hands behind his back as though giving a recital, Nic explains, "Makashi, which the killer responsible for the deaths at Mr. Sike's estate was most definitely proficient in, is all about precision and efficiency. The wounds sustained by the victims at that scene reflected those delivered by an expert level Makashi user, where the wound that killed Mr. Monite here displays a profound lack of skill. Leaning down and tracing the path of the neck wound in the air over the victim's skin, Nic asks, See how the burn pattern angles slightly upwards, and wavers to some degree in several places? That suggests to me the killer is unfamiliar with a lightsaber, and certainly no Makashi user. A Form II user would have delivered a precise strike, not one as sloppy as this."
Standing back up, Nic says, "I'm afraid there isn't much more I can tell you about your killer. The blow does have characteristics of being delivered by a left handed individual, the coroner continues while pacing beside the exam table and tilting his head to look at the body from different angles. That much is consistent, but the skill level exhibited with a lightsbaer is vastly far inferior in this instance."

...Reminding herself of all that Andros is going through, Elika does her best to look and sound less giddily ecstatic than she feels as she opens the passenger door and sits down. As she reaches for the safety belt and pulls it into place, Elika asks Andros with a tentative smile, trying to cheer him up with humor in case his mood is understandably darkened with all that he has been dealing with given the accusations facing him, "Did you have a nice day at the office, dear?" Andros, who wasn't expecting Elika to come here so soon, had his eyes closed, and he had been lost in his thoughts. One could have thought that he had been getting some shut eye with the position he currently was in, leaning towards the steering wheel, his head buried between his arm, but he was just thinking and trying to figure out how to really get out of this on his own, at least. But he knew that doing this on his own was going to be impossible with the amount of person that cared about him, even if he thought that he didn't deserve all that. He had resolved himself that there were a lot of things he couldn't control, and this was one of those things.
When Elika had arrived, when he heard that the passenger's door was being open, he slightly tensed up on the spot and clearly relaxed upon seeing that it was the Architect. Leaning back on his seat, he did look at her with a faint smile, there was just something about her that, even if she was doing her best to tone it done, she was just exuding happiness. He was happy for her, but at the same time, he couldn't quite smile at all because he did tell Delaana a while ago to get close to the Architect, and to do whatever it took, he did not realize that it was going to take this kind of thing for Lana to be close to Elika.
Either way, that was just a matter that he had been keeping under wraps and quite honestly, it wasn't something he was bound to share with any one at all. Not even his brother would be looking at him with dismay. "Hmmm, nice? Not so much, I have been getting requests for interviews, and I figured that I would at least reply to some of those reporters..." Andros sighed faintly, while yes usually he would just have that outward appearance of not giving a damn about everything, right now it was just he and Elika, and he figured that he could just let go of his automatic defense, of his usual façade. "And I have made a trip towards the Intelligence Department, I need to get a hold of Raan, and I figured that perhaps the Kiffars would all be there, but it was only the Deputy Director." Andros shrugged slightly, knowing that Elika would understand why he headed to the Intelligence Department, who better than Mace or any one close to her would know about Raan's current whereabouts.
"But enough about my boring and despicable moment at the office, and also please, on my account, don't hide how you truly feel currently, besides? I could do with some happiness right now." Andros said sincerely and he even smiled at the thought, though clearly he did have a good time earlier with Ice, and who knew perhaps they'd do it again, he didn't know but he did say that he would find her sooner or later, though right now though, there was something that was bugging him, right there in the pit of his stomach, it had something to do with Atlantis...
"Ready to head home? I cannot be sure, but I think you might be needed back there..." The privilege of being a twin and having a somewhat close affinity with Atlantis, Andros knew that not a lot of things would shake his brother, and if it did, it mainly concerned those that Atlantis cared about... Activating the engines of the airspeeder, Andros maneuvered it up towards the air, precisely and methodically before setting off towards the Lakehouse's direction.

The Hallowed Grounds
"Good, because I truly would feel guilty if that happened." Franz said with a boyish grin when Ayodele had told him that it wouldn't pain her to follow some current events, but at the same time he did want to tell her more, right here and right now but still until she really didn't see what had been going on on the planet, there was no use to toss all those information on her plate, to think about or to even have those be carried as weight. For that was how he considered the whole thing he was a part of, he carried a heavy luggage and that implied a lot of people that she had met earlier at the lakehouse...
It reassured him in a way that she did not find what he did as boring, for a few or at lot, it would be the case, but again, he did not expect otherwise from her, she was open minded and seemed accepting, so again it was a plus. Right now though, he was more attentively listening to what she was saying and how she occupied her time. She seemed different there, like she was longing for some answers, and then there was that word that she used that made him think. Even if she laughed merrily soon after, did he actually detect something there other than her usual playful, amused nature.
Franz pursed his lips momentarily and tilted his head on the side still looking at her, though this time with a dubious expression but also a conflicted expression, for a moment he had decided against into asking her something. But was she looking for some sort of atonement? If so from what? Franz clearly had no idea, and he guessed that he would never know if he never asked unless he brought that up another time. But what the heck...
"Is there any particular reason on why you want to find some answers to atonement, or is it just a philosophical question that is close to your heart, and because you want to find out more about facts of life and how this universe is ruled with good and evil seemingy constantly in a fight with one another?" He tried to leave her some opening to get out from that question, and actually he believed he did, but really there was just something about her comportment right there that made him ask that question, surely there was a reason why she would be interested about those questions, no?

Unwrapping. New picture.
"Thanks, Doc, Madieke tells the coroner after he has finished presenting his autopsy findings. You have my comm frequency if you find anything else," she says by way of farewell, and then adds a wave before turning to make her way from the morgue and back to her speeder.
Nuala, unwrapping a lollipop as she walks beside Madieke, asks, "What now, boss?"
"We head back to the precinct, start putting all the new information together with the old, see what the new picture reveals. Comm Vinter, Cacracci, Roma, Nemes, and Nazani. Have them meet us there so we can go over what we've learned tonight."
"On it," Nuala says, moving her lollipop to the corner of her mouth after unwrapping it, and taking her datapad to begin sending the messages to the rest of the investigative team.
Moments later, the two are bound for the precinct, where they will make their way to the room they have been given the use of for their investigation to wait for the others to arrive.

The Hallowed Grounds
Rather than accept the chance to leave the door which her brief lapse in maintaining the easy, light and airy demeanor she often exhibits had allowed to open, if only enough to permit a brief, blurry glimpse at what lay beyond, Ayodele chooses to allow Franz the chance to learn a tiny bit more of the questions that intrigue her even though she has rarely allowed any to come close enough to her that such an opportunity would present itself.
Tracing the rim of her mug with a finger, Ayodele smiles her eternally bemused smile as she begins her answer by asking, "Do we not all have things we feel we need to atone for, Franz? She looks from her mug to meet Franz's eyes with a playful smile as she jests, Or does that apply to those such as you who serve the Light? Not intending to turn the question he had asked of her back upon him, Ayodele leaves no time for Franz to answer should her playful question have spurred him to think of a reply of one kind or another, and she moves on by saying, As for the those questions, I suppose in the end they are, collectively, my way of seeking some meaning in the chaos of Life. Having revealed as much as she intends to for the moment, which she knows has been little more than admitting to a search she imagines all undertake at one point or another, and to having more depth than her usual way of conducting herself in the presence of others suggests she possesses, which is as much as she ever has revealed of herself to another, Ayodele's light and airy demeanor returns as she languidly lifts her mug and mimes taking a drink after looking over the rim of the mug and asking Franz in a playfully offended tone, Is it really so surprising, Franz, that a simple masseuse would entertain such philosophical questions? Or was it simply surprising that someone like me would do so?"

23rd Precinct - Night of Varik Monite's Murder
Inclining my head in a bow of greeting as I enter the room my fellow investigators and I have been given the use of by the UPD, I tell Ranger Aninh, "I am sorry I was unable to make it to the autopsy as planned, and then as I push my outer robe back from my legs as I take a seat at the table, ask, I suppose we should wait until the others arrive to share what we've learned? No need, I imagine, to repeat things more than necessary. Thinking of a question I have not asked yet, I brush my right lekku from my shoulder so that it drapes down my back while I ask, Have the surveillance teams overheard any comm activity before or after the murder, that suggests any of those we've been watching might have been behind the attack?"
It is a long shot, but given the fact that several new players had appeared in the employ of Sike's lieutenants, the possibility that one or more may have been hired to carry out the foul deeds that have been taking place cannot be overlooked.

The reports from the Umgul Police Department surveillance teams monitoring Arezou and Klivian will suggest that neither were involved in the murder of Varik Monite. Transcripts of comm traffic from both members of the criminal organization that employed the lawyer will, in fact, reveal that both are troubled by the implications of Monite's murder, and feel it further cements their concern that the Vice Governor has targeted their organization specifically.
After their guests have departed, with the visiting Sai'korachan from Ryloth being the last to leave, Lyov surprises Helaine by not immediately addressing her disobedience, instead silently unfastening his bow tie while pouring himself a drink. Walking up behind her Master, Helaine wraps her arms around his waist as she says in the private language of their own invention, "I think the evening went very well, don't you, Master? The press just loved your little speech about how all worlds need to look out for and help one another now that the Republic is no more and rumors of an Imperial resurgence have begun to spread. And the fact that we were on the holonews when our assassin killed Monite will remove us from suspicion . . ."
Taking a drink and moving from her embrace, Lyov asks calmly, "Will it? Shaking his head, Lyov says, Vos and the Grandmaster will, I'm sure, merely find it too coincidental. They will no more . . ."
Irritated that the praise she had anticipated has not materialized, Helaine asks, "Who cares what they think, or what they have decided they 'just know'? What matters is what they can prove, and they can prove nothing. As for too convenient or coincidental, that is an argument that cuts both ways. Some will find the speculation about a changeling being behind the crimes attributed thusfar to the Vice Governor too convenient, just as they will find whatever other proof of his innocence produced to be convenient or coincidental. The seeds of doubt have been planted, just as planned."
"Yes, but a shapeshifter being suspected at this point endangers the plan . . ."
"What plan does it endanger? The one where you insert yourself into the Mist Order's circle? That plan has already failed, my Master. We need to adjust our strategy, just as you taught me one must always be prepared to do. Can you not see that? Walking over and rewrapping her arms around Lyov's waist, Helaine begins speaking more calmly in hopes of persuading her Master to listen to her ideas, In fact, I have a few ideas about how we can make the doubts about the Vice Governor's guilt work to our advantage." When Lyov does not object, or move away, Helaine smiles behind his back as she presents her ideas for how the plan can be altered to him.

The Hallowed Grounds
Franz just knew that there was more to Ayodele than met the eye. He couldn't pinpoint what, but there was certainly more to her than what her job entailed her to be. A simple masseuse? Nah... While Franz knew that it took a lifetime to get to know a person, he had to admit that he was nowhere close in knowing more about her but those simple interests in her life, philosophical questions, that any beings, sentient, or otherwise had thought about.
Smiling sheepishly and shaking his head after he had taken a sip of his caf, and actually finishing his drink, Franz looked down briefly and finally returned his attention onto her, he really was having a nice time with her, and their conversation was just interesting, it also made him think many times, but at the same time, he also knew that he might be a person difficult to have a conversation with considering how many things he had to omit because it wasn't his place to speak about certain things. But this wasn't about him right now, it was more about her, and her questions.
"Truthfully?" Franz asked rhetorically with another sheepish grin before he added on. "A little bit, yes, but at the same time, just more of an admiration, if I may say this." Franz tilted his head slightly on the side and smiled once more, just trying to order his thoughts to make it at least understandable on what he actually meant by the admiration part. "You seem to have an optimistic approach in life, and you always seem to be in a great mood." Franz wanted to ask a few more things, and maybe this would be his last question before they actually called it a night. He didn't know about her, but he was a little exhasted from the day they had, not that he had done much, but still... "Though, I have to ask, if you weren't a masseuse, what would you be doing instead?"

Terse. Clear.
Madieke is standing with her chin resting in her hand while she studies the board upon which all of their evidence has been arranged along with a timeline of the crimes associated with their investigation when the Jedi High Council joins them. Not looking away from the board, Madieke ignores the less important questions fired by the Jedi Master, and instead answers only the Twi'lek's most relevant question in her usual terse fashion, "Surveillance hasn't seen or heard anything that suggests that Sike's lieutenants are involved in some kind of power struggle, no. Doesn't fit that the only losses so far have been their organization. Should probably start focusing less on watching them, more on keeping tabs on the other possible suspects. Rubbing the root of her nose as she turns and walks to the pot of stim-caf percolating on a table along one wall, Madieke sighs, Still want to keep eyes on them, in case a move against them gives us a shot at our killer. Pouring a cup of stim-caf, Madieke adds, Well, one of them, since it's clear we have more than one after tonight."
Glancing at her wrist chrono, Madieke mutters a curse about punctuality under her breath before sitting down and asking Roma, "Twins' alibis check out?"

23rd Precinct - Evening of Varik Monite's Murder
UPD detectives Conall Nemes and Nazani Pakchoian enter the investigative team's tiny, cramped command center as SEO Aninh is wrapping up her assessment of what the surveillance teams had, or had not heard, added up to, or did not add up to.
Nemes, a scrawny male Rodian in a rumpled suit and trenchcoat, drops a pink and orange box of doughnuts on the table as he drops into a chair, flipping the lid of the box open and waving a hand over it to offer anyone present to partake as he watches Master Roma to hear how she'll reply to the question about the Vyridian twins.
Nazani, a short, curvy, dark haired Lorrdian dressed more fashionably than her partner, sits next to the Rodian and, while picking up a doughnut after examining the options, offers her opinion as to the merits of wasting time looking into the Vyridian's alibis, "Who gives a flying toss about their alibis? We know they aren't involved, let's focus on . . ."
"We know it, Nemes points out, but the public are, collectively speaking, a bunch of 'gits that will need to be walked through the evidence of their innocence. Hence, he waves a thin fingered hand through the air, the need to give a flying toss at least until we can put that whole conspiracy theory to rest with some solid detective work, or, he nods towards Master Roma, some Jedi investigation."
Rolling her eyes, Nazani takes a bite of her doughnut and mutters, "Whatevs. Public'll believe whatever the talking heads tell them most of the time anyway, so we're better off focusing on finding the dude or dudette behind the curtain rather than . . ."
"Shhh, Nemes tells his partner, Listen to our mates now, rant later," and then motions for Master Roma to lay out what she has learned while ignoring his partner's muttered comment about where he put his shushing.

23rd Precinct - Night of Varik Monite's Murder
Before I am able to answer Madieke's question, Detectives Nemes and Pakchoian arrive and immediately engage in a somewhat amusing bit of banter that I imagine perfectly illustrates their relationship. After Detective Nemes, unless one counts his partner's whispered aside, has the last word and gets the conversation back on point, I manage to say, "I was able to . . ." before a female Sullustan dressed in the distinctive khaki and brown robes of the Jedi Order enters the room.
"So sorry I'm late, the Sullustan says while bowing a few times to make sure she has bowed a greeting to all present, and when she has completed her last bow, rises and explains, I'm Jedi Knight Pakwa Sayen, from the Felucian Enclave. Master Calmcacil has asked that I come to assist you all in your investigation on his family's behalf since they were called away unexpectedly. I've had a chance to review all of the information the Calmcacil's had been given, the Sullustan adds without taking a breath, so there's no need to bring me up to speed. Except, naturally, of course, for what has been learned tonight. Which, I gather, Pakwa continues on while taking a seat, is what is happening now."
Once Pakwa, who finally takes a breath after sitting, has been introduced to everyone, and the unavoidable bit of polite chit chat has taken place, I explain, "Andros was at his office at the time Monte was assassinated, which can be verified by both biometric and video records. Atlantis was at the Lakehouse, which can be verified by Miss Kayne, and possibly both of her housemates in addition to Franz Delgrave of the Mist Order, who is currently acting as Miss Hekekia's bodyguard. If getting statements from those parties is something we feel is necessary, I can get them so that there is an official record. Similarly, I am certain that the Mist Government will provide us with the biometric and video records for independent authentication. Gesturing towards Detective Pakchoian, I say, I agree with Detective Pakchoian, however, in that it is ultimately more beneficial to the effort to clear Andros as well as the Mist Government and Order to exonerate them by uncovering the identities of the true conspirators."
Raising a hand, Pakwa says, "On that note, my analysis of the investigation's amassed data to this point suggests that doing that uncovering Master Roma mentions could be effected by learning the source of Mr. Sike's uncanny ability to smuggle operatives and illicit or illegal products onto Umgul. Setting her datapad on the table and scrolling through a few files to find what she is looking for, the Sullustan continues, The findings suggest that Mr. Sike had been interrogated prior to his death, and I believe that the conspirator was more than likely after that source."
Nodding to convey I am impressed with her analysis, I add my own thoughts to Pakwa's line of reasoning, "It could explain why Monite's assassination was carried out by what is most likely a shapeshifter of some kind rather than Sike's killer. If the conspirator has assess to such a source, they could easily hire others to carry out future actions while remaining safely concealed behind the scenes pulling the strings. Looking over towards Nuala, I ask, Has any effort been made to review Mr. Sike's financial records to try and identify potential candidates for his mysterious source? Are there any businesses or personal expenses that seem inordinately high, for instance?"

Culminates. Heads or tails. Pin down.
After all of the exposition being thrown around culminates with a question directed at Nuala, Madieke sips her caf and leans back against the wall to listen to what her deputy has to say while planning what changes she will make in their strategy based on what has happened and what has been discussed so far.
Taking her lollipop from her mouth to answer Master Roma's question, Nuala says, "I haven't looked at the financial forensics personally, but I haven't heard anything that suggests the OC Unit was able to make heads or tails of things. Whoever was cooking the books did a phenom job of concealing all the profits from illegal activity in legit profits from Sike's business holdings. I don't think that there was any effort to look for a possible source though, so maybe it would be worthwhile to have a second look?"
Shrugging her shoulders, Madieke says, "Run it by the OC Unit. If they're agreeable, have a go at it. Looking towards the Sullustan Jedi, Madieke says, If your theory is correct, and we manage to capture the mysterious broker, there's still the matter of getting them to give up their client to consider, assuming that the client wasn't disguising themselves while meeting with them. Snapping her fingers, Madieke says, Credit trail could solve that. Broker has to be paid, right? If we pin down the broker's identity, we could see if any of our suspects have financial dealings with them."
