Alexis blinked, not bothering to hide her surprise at Diamonte's words. "You're leaving Yavin IV?" she inquired bluntly, shooting a glance over at Palo. Alcohol? Already? She supposed she could understand that. He'd been through a lot recently and events on Yavin IV probably weren't matching his expectations.
But, before they could really discuss matters, she felt Master Rawkill nearby, along with another. The slim woman frowned, annoyed as she reached out to him in the Force attempting to convince the other Master to join them in Diamonte's quarters. This was becoming quite a gathering, but she felt Rawkill should be there. Besides, it would take care of several things. He needed to meet Palo anyway. Belatedly she realized that she was thinking of Palo simply by his first name, instead of more formally.
"Incoming company," she spoke over towards Diamonte, though he probably already knew who was outside his door this time.

Palo arched an eyebrow at Alexis, sensing her somewhat unsatisfied opinion of his choice of beverage. It wasn't like he was going on a Corellian whiskey drinking binge. After all, he just got out of prison, and with the alignment of his recent luck, might be going there again. He decided to introduce himself to this Diamonte, after some self-conscious consideration.
“Hello. I'm Palo Torsh. Former padawan and fugitive of the Republic...well, sort of. I was told Yavin Control gave you a heads-up as to my current...uh, situation.”
After his awkward introduction, Palo reassured himself that his request for alcohol was warranted.

==Outside==
As the droid Pixar made its way back from the Kitchen,(having left sometime between posts) he passed a figure leaning against the door. taking a moment to scan the humanoid, the droid recorded that this was a Jedi knight associated with the previous Yavin administration. pausing a moment, the droid stopped its Trolley of food and drink to greet the person
::Greetings Knight Althe, Master Tuhlute will be with you shortly. I am probably disobeying orders and wishes, but if you would like to come in you may.::
The droid did not wait for a proper response as it slid I unlocked the doors to open, and walk through leaving an amount of time for Miarte to decide before the doors Whooshed shut.
==Inside==
I honestly could not help but stare past Alexis with a look that read ‘REALLY?’ plastered on my face. To the best of my knowledge, that in my time serving as headmaster I gave no reason to believe saying one thing would really mean another… fortunately Pixar arrived with food and drink before I could explode at my friend and colleague.
::Mister Torsh, your Darkoma::
A Lowball glass of the brownish liquid was placed in front of the gentleman, while if he was observant, Palo would notice a Decanter of the same brownish liquid sitting on Pixar’s Trolley
::For you Miss Karidian, I tried to get one of the meals you have designated as ‘your favorite’ ::
A tray was placed in front of Karidian that featured a covered plate of a Nerf Steak (Medium rare), a baked potato with the trimmings, corn on the cob and a red wine made from Jogan fruit.
My own meal was placed before me unceremoniously, but still with grace. under the lid was Paprika numa on a bed of rice, and a cup of Instramtan tea, with the more in a carafe on the trolley. taking a sip to clear my head I began by speaking to Alexis
“No, I am not leaving my post. but I need to plan a trip to Honoghr to get a replacement forearm…” I once more wave my right sleeve around emphasizing my point “i would have the parts shipped here, but as Master Rawkill said, Yavin has neither the supplies nor the facilities to do a proper cybernetic replacement…. and yeah, I know about the guest, but I need to discuss matters with you two first and I would claim to be rather pressing."
I took a moment to enjoy the fork tender numa and the rice it lay upon. when I had let a few minutes passed and my mouth was clear, I began to speak again.
“I have been considering the conditions you placed on taking up the Starfighter squadron leadership. and with conditions of my own, we are in agreement. you will have final say on who is on the squadron… but firstly I want a voice in the vetting process,… will these terms be acceptable to you?”
Taking a moment and pivoting I looked curiously in Palo’s direction.
“Welcome Palo, I am Diamonte Tuhlute. I am sorry, I was not able to meet with you earlier, however I do believe you have the best person you could have met up with to get you settled into the academy. yes I received your unsolicited criminal profile, and to be honest, I am not as concerned with you past as I am with your future… so I pose to you this question. If I were to hand you the keys to a shuttle that was loaded up with enough riches to expunge any incriminating record you had and still leave you with several billion credits to live the rest of your days off of, would you choose to remain here, or leave?”
I held a gentle yet serious glance locking into Palo’s as if to read the answer from his very soul… then in a twist I shut my eyes keeping my head pointed towards Palo’s…. in truth the answer he spoke was not important to me. I wanted to see his aura… was he conflicted in making the decision, would he lie to give me an answer he thought I wanted to hear? the answers to these questions meant more to me then the verbal… Reflecting once more upon the GALSAF attack, I had trusted Tagira when I first met him. Now I realize that the most valuable resource I could stock pile, is trust. so… could I place my trust in this newcomer.

*Miartes attention turned to the droid as it approached the room. Her yellow eyes watched never left the droid as she gave a nod to greet it. She hesitated for a moment as it entered the room. At first she didn't feel as if it was wise to enter the room without being summoned, but her curiosity was getting the better of her. Quickly she entered the room, having the door close right behind her. She paused and scanned everyone present. Even though she could tell that two of the beings in the room were Jedi, she never let her guard down. Moving away from the door, she took up position near the wall, waiting her turn.*

Palo took the decanter from the droid's trolley and made an appreciative gesture then placed it next to his glass of Darkoma.
“Thank you.”
Palo took a small sip from the glass, and put it down in front of him. It was much less refreshing than he remembered. He took another sip as Diamonte began answering Alexis' questions about his cybernetic implant and her squadron, then waited patiently until he was addressed.
He took a quick glance at Alexis when Diamonte said, “the best person you could have met up with...” then turned his attention back to Diamonte when he asked the hypothetical question. Palo took a moment to think it over, though when he noticed Diamonte close his eyes, he knew he was being judged, though not necessarily with negative intentions. He didn't need to feel it through the Force...he knew body language like Galactic Basic. Some people were easier to read than “The Little Lost Bantha Cub,” while others were more similar to the “Archaiad.” Regardless, Palo still preferred a personality test than being arrested.
“It's a pleasure to meet you, Diamonte Tuhlute, and yes, Alexis has been very kind and hospitable, especially given my...unorthodox circumstances.” Palo said referring to his stolen ship, prison escape, and bounty that was probably updated to include a Republic warrant.
“To answer your question...I would stay here, with the shuttle loaded with riches and the several billion credits.” Diamonte never mentioned departing the planet as a prerequisite to receiving the shuttle and fortune, though Palo was unsure whether this was intentional or not. Of course, Palo would readily give up the shuttle and money to stay at Yavin IV. Unbeknownst to Alexis or Diamonte, Alexis had already convinced him to return to the Jedi Order.
“Hypothetically, I would sell the shuttle or give it back to the Praxeum along with the WR-542 I stole from a Republic impound and buy a freighter with a sufficient cargo area and a sensor suite...maybe a Brayl or even a GR transport...then get a small team together, and scour the planet for ship parts, weapons, generators, armor, droids, and other useful items to help repair the Praxeum and its defenses.”
Palo took a sip of Darkoma and continued.
“As you know, there have been many battles on Yavin IV; from the Great Sith War and the Great Galactic War to The Galactic Civil War and your recent skirmish with the Mandalorians. Alliance starfighters, TIEs, walkers, speeders, freighters, shuttles, transports, frigates, weapon batteries, tanks, and more are littered throughout the moon, and despite the jungles, rainforests, and volcanoes I believe there is a considerable amount of material that can be scavenged and repaired.”
Palo paused for a moment, and glanced at the rim of his glass.
“The rest of the money...I would use to hire a better bartender.”
He took a final sip of his Darkoma and put the empty glass down.
“Now let me pose you a hypothetical question...if I wanted to rejoin the Jedi Order as a Jedi Knight at the Praxeum here on Yavin IV, how could I avoid putting others I cared about in danger with a bounty on my head, without any clue to the identity of the individual or group who posted the bounty?”
Though Palo's thoughts remained honest and clear throughout his response, he thought of Alexis for a moment or two when he mentioned putting others he cared about in danger. There was no fear or aggression in his emotions, but there was an escalated determination to protect others rooted in both regret and affection.

Master Rawkill had been about to head off, when he felt the out reach of Alexis through the force, urging him to join the rather large gathering within the office. Making up his mind at the last minute, the Ewok Jedi Master ducked into the room after Miarte, and moved into a back corner, to remain out of sight and out of mind so to speak. Like Diamonte, he too had been alerted to the arrival of the man known as Palo Torsh, as well as the circumstances that had been relayed to Orbital Control relating to him, one of which was a Republic Bounty. It seemed like the Jedi were begining to amass a small collection of people the Republic viewed as criminals, since there was still his impending trip to Coruscant to act as a representative for the Jedi High Council for some trial, that had yet to pass. He listened closely to the man's reply to Diamonte's question, also taking note of the man's force signature, as he wondered just exactly what sort of mess this man had been mistaken for getting into. The response seemed earnest, and his thoughts had remained according, though he did take note of the slight sway in them, that seemed towards Alexis, which he thought was a little odd, considering he was under the impression they had only just met. But then, the heart did work in mysterious ways, and it was not uncommon for people to fall in love at first sight, he just hoped it was not for some unsavoury means. Look at me, he thought to himself, already acting like some over protective father. His attention was soon drawn back to the conversation, as mulled over the fact that Palo had no clue about the identity of the person or persons that had put a bounty on his head under the guise of the Republic. Considering he was about to make a visit to the Republic Capital, he might be able to lend his services in gathering some clues behind this mystery, assuming of course that Monte believed Palo and was willing to welcome him back within the Jedi Order

Alexis was relieved that Tuhlute was not planning on leaving permanently, though a close look at his right arm was enough to confirm his choice of Honoghr over Yavin IV in terms of a prosthetic replacement. Come to think of it, she hadn't known he had a prosthetic limb. She frowned. Some things just didn't register with her she felt like. And it was embarrassing and awkward for her at times. Other things were all too evident to her, given her talent in the Force. She shrugged, "Well, that is good to know. I assume Master Rawkill will be running things in your absence?" she let the Ewok know she hadn't forgotten him even though he was lurking silently in a corner so far.
As food and drink were brought into the room, she took an open seat and balanced the plate of nerf steak and potatoe on her knee while cutting into the steak to see if it was cooked sufficiently. Some people seemed to like it raw with juices gushing everywhere. That did not appeal to her at all. And she needn't have worried, because this one was done properly, hot in the middle. She took a bite, and realized at that point how hungry she was. She nodded to Monte, waiting to answer till she'd finished her mouthful of food.
"Aye, that is fine," she wondered if he already had people in mind to put forward as pilots. She'd find out soon enough. The rest of her meal disappeared while Palo was replying, but she did look up as he put his hypothetical question about joining the Order. She'd sensed he would get there eventually, but he sounded different from earlier. He had been opposed to the Order then. She smiled faintly, before speaking up quietly, "I daresay most of us here are familiar with bounties. I for one wasn't born with a---how is it said?" she thought aloud, "oh, a silver spoon in my mouth." She wasn't for sure why she had answered Palo like that, but the look she shot him was a bit challenging, though not angry. He didn't know where she'd come from.

Even though Palo felt the presence of another person behind him and noticed an Ewok in the room, he was more taken aback by Alexis' sudden comment. He had made no assertions that Alexis had a privileged upbringing or had no familiarity with bounties. Alexis had yet to divulge much about her past. Despite any vague indications, Palo knew making assumptions would be fruitless, as well as dangerous in unforeseen circumstances.
“I'm not implying my predicament is of greater importance than anything else, but I rather my bounty not cause any more problems for the Praxeum, or the Jedi Order in general.” Palo said to the individuals in the office, but directing his comment more toward Alexis. Palo moved his attention back to Diamonte. “Although I escaped from a Republic facility and stole an impounded vessel, I believe my initial imprisonment was not sanctioned by the Republic, as it was not the Republic that initially put the bounty on my head. The bounty has been posted for at least ten standard years, and the first individual whom attempted to collect it, was a Dark Jedi. He killed Jedi Master Tour'ku Seff on Tibrin. I was Master Seff's apprentice. Using my master's lightsaber, I slew the Dark Jedi. I gave Master Seff's lightsaber to his family, and gave the Dark Jedi's lightsaber to Alexis upon my arrival.”
Palo took the decanter of Darkoma and poured himself half of a glass. It wasn't the best quality, but it was still Darkoma.

“Very perplexing”
I took the moment of Alexis and Palo squabbling to deposit some of the delicious numa before me. Considering the answer that Palo’s answer and would had said “Welcome” if not for that ‘bartender’ remark. The particular comment forced a scowl behind my Eyelids to form… though as I convinced myself, that the decanter had come from the public stock and not my own private stash… that was enough to stop said scowl from being visible to my guests.
Taking a moment to think over the hypothetical question that was posed to me I listened Alexis and Palo bicker and came to a certain conclusion regarding whom Palo REALLY wanted to protect. In my memories I knew of a sequence in which Palo would be avoid detection… but I sincerely doubted that if he did that sequence that he and Alexis would ever truly have a chance… when all that was finished, or rather when I realized I had eaten all of my chicken leaving behind only rice… I cleared my throat and answered
“Speaking in the hypothetical, there are numerous ways to escape attention… you could pay off a friendly bounty hunter to make a convincing false kill, undergo a complete biological transfer…” I paused to take a sip of my delicious tea “But in the end, you must consider how active and observable you wish to be once the actions are taken… and particularly, the feelings of anyone you wish to so protect via this act… because to be serious with you will probably running the rest of your days and not truly get to see the loved ones you wished to protect again… and besides, as Instructor Karidian wisely said… there are many people in the order familiar with bounties, so intention to do this alone would be extremely selfish of you… Hypothetically speaking”

Despite being relatively well-traveled, Palo had never heard the term “friendly bounty hunter.” He knew some contacts from when he was a smuggler have collected bounties, but they weren't exactly bounty hunters. Or friendly. Besides, as Diamonte pointed out, feinting death would mean running and looking over his shoulder until it became reality. Discovery would put the “friendly bounty hunter” in danger and his loved ones would be in even greater risk as targets for retribution. Palo had already altered his appearance with synthskin, covering up his facial tattoos, but despised the idea of changing his identity. Everyone needs their past to have a chance at a future, and hiding or masking oneself is an existential suicide. Every choice echoes through the Force, and to destroy an identity would be to sever those decisions and any consequences from their origin. No, Palo knew he needed to stop running. He find the reason and the origin of the bounty. He needed to stop being hunted. And start hunting.
“First, I mean no offense nor am I implying that members of the Praxeum are unable to assist or inept in any way. But considering the recent conflict with the Mandalorians, I did not want to burden anyone with more danger...needless to say, I was reluctant to come to Yavin IV in the first place, as my presence alone is a potential risk. If you desire to help, it will be most welcome, but you are not under any obligation. After all, this academy would be safer if I departed, and the safety of the academy would be any headmaster’s top priority. Unless I become a member of the academy and the Jedi Order, you have no obligation to my well-being...but if I am granted the title of Jedi Knight, then it is our duty as Jedi to find this threat and end it, together. As I have said, I wish to join the Order as a Jedi Knight and remain on Yavin IV. But the real decision is yours, Master Tuhlute.”
Palo looked at Diamonte, but used his peripheral vision to also gauge any reaction from Alexis or the Ewok that entered the room. Through the Force, he knew the Ewok was a Jedi and rather strong one, but had no other clue as to his identity. He wondered if the Ewok was more jovial than Diamonte, who seemed about as cheerful as a gundark after a spacer ripped off its ears.
“I was only half-joking about the Darkoma,” Palo suggested to Diamonte, trying to ease the mild tension that he felt in the room, though his initial comment about hiring another bartender had the same purpose. “The Kwenn Space Station serves a Reactor Core that lives up to its name.”

It was in this brief moment of exchanges, once Alexis had finished her food, that Rawkill suddenly and without any prior indication stepped out of the shadows and hopped up into Alexis' lap, giving her a cute teddy bear like smile, before looking over to Palo and shooting him a look that seemed to say "if you break her heart, I'll break your bones and phallic saber you from here all the way to Anoth". It was in this moment of oddity that a line of 9 scantily clad clones of the governor of Honoghr, known to the galaxy as Ice Matango, started can-canning their way into the office, before Rawkill gave a nod to Alexis and they jumped out of a nearby open window, into a hovering 1982 Pontiac Trans Am, and flew off into the setting sun. Or at least... that was the way things had gone down in his mind, as his thoughts had briefly strayed to a place he was not entirely sure of the origins of. Regardless, he gave a quick shake of his head, and gave a nod in response to Alexis' inquiry about whether he would be running the academy in Diamonte's absence, something he was not too entirely certain of, if he was entirely honest. As it was, he still had to make his own trip to Coruscant, which he had a feeling was not going to be a particularly short trip, considering the ramifications of the events that were taking him there. He continued to listen in as the conversation seemed to continue mainly between Alexis and Palo, with occasional interjections from Diamonte, like some sort of really weird couples counselling session. Rawkill decided it was time to verbally interject into the situation, as he took a step forward out of the shadows, whilst still remaining behind where Alexis and Palo were sitting. He had no intent to subvert Diamonte's authority, since this was, for all intents and purposes, Monte's academy, and Rawkill was merely hear as Deputy to help Monte learn the ropes and prepare him for his role as headmaster. But that was not to say he was entirely banned, so to speak, from voicing an opinion, or interjecting his own subtle opinion that may help sway Diamonte's decision =Jedi Master Rawkill= Forgive my interruption, but Mr Torsh, as Jedi, our duty is to the well being of all, whether they are Jedi or not, regardless of the dangers we have faced in recent times. Despite your history, you seem like a good person, and if it helps any, Diamonte, I will take responsibility for Palo if it should help you make a decision. The boy has potential... as to you, Miss Karidian, I will need to ask you for the lightsaber that Palo gave to you upon his arrival. Such an artifact doubtlessly holds a great deal of dark energy, and as a member of the Council of First Knowledge, I must make sure it is securely stored and kept from spreading it's corruption...

When the Ewok mentioned about the duty of the Jedi to aid regardless of recent dangers, Palo couldn't help but think about the Mandalorian Wars, where the Jedi did not come to the Republic's aid. From a holocron, he learned the Jedi Master Dorak claimed the Order was weakened from the Great Sith War with Exar Kun, and their ranks were decimated. Only the Revanchists aided the Republic to defeat the Mandalorians, and then returned to conquer the Republic as Sith in the Jedi Civil War. Three wars in 40 years...of course, such a sequence of violence depended on many other variables.
Pushing thoughts of ancient history aside, Palo was grateful to be perceived in a positive light. It took him a few moments to realize that the Ewok was the Master Rawkill Alexis asked her droid to notify in the hanger and referenced a few moments earlier. Oddly enough, he had heard the name “Rawkill” during his training on Tibrin, but couldn't pinpoint the context at the moment.
“Thank you,” Palo nodded in the direction of the Ewok. “You must be Master Rawkill. It's a pleasure to meet you.”

“You are actually quite wrong”
I looked at Mr. Torsh through a harsh lens, which admittedly softened as soon as it appeared. The job that i had asked for had given many aches of both Head and Heart. I wanted Desperately to take time to go to honoghr and tell Mist i was still alive… part of me felt the need to search the stars and find out EXACTLY where project D-Eta was. But because i needed to, i remained here. I took a considered sip of my tea before i continued, my feature showing the tone a gentle correction as opposed to a harsh change.
“Do not exactly presume to tell me what my responsibilities are. I answer to the council and take advisement from my Deputy, and even then I only follow through with it when i feel the action is in the academy’s best interest.”
I Paused to show an inward remorse to a funny joke that got tossed by the wayside in favor of not angering people.
“What i mean to say is, so long as you are on world you are the responsibility of this Academy. My native culture, while originally not one to volunteer to the order, but they had great respect for them and the term Jedi in Instramtan was used to mean several things from ‘brother’ to ‘defender’ to the ‘one who goes back for everyone’. The fact that you made it past OTC, who in light of recent events has developed a ‘shoot first, ask questions later’ policy proves you are wealthy in the currency most important here…. Trust. Trust is what i deem most important in running this academy in light of multiple attacks within the last year and a very long day. I have to make sure that I can trust that members of my staff and those defending this temple have the best interest of the Academy in mind moving forward. It was why i requested that I be allowed a say in who should be added”
I turned to the described Rawkill and addressed him in regards to his offer.
“That will not be necessary my Mentor… or Deputy… whichever we are going with today. Knowing what may come our way is important, and the fact that he has been honest about his past makes me believe that Palo Torsh will make a fine addition to this academy and to the jedi order if he so chooses to join. He has, in my honest opinion, given me no reason to doubt he is whom he claims to be… except.”
Ok, so my HUD was operational, even if it was not registering facial recognition… but then again that was why i had Pixar in the room, programmed with similar software. The fact was when Palo volunteered the information regarding his imprisonment to OTC meant the ‘briefing’ i received was more in-depth on the issue of record of the man, and less of ‘a new visitor has arrived’ i turned to Palo and let my face form a stern appearance
“every bit of information on you details Kiffar tattoos, and yet i see none. could you explain this discrepancy?"

Alexis devoted most of her attention to finishing her dinner. Mealtimes here on Yavin had fallen by the wayside ever since she had arrived planetside. Try as she might, she couldn't seem to make eating really matter all that much. She ate when she remembered to, and when her body would otherwise collapse. And she knew she should keep an eye on things like that, but... she just couldn't make it important. Regardless, she finished her dinner, dabbed at her lips with her napkin in a polite manner and straightened up. It was a good thing for all concerned that she had no idea how recent events had passed through Master Rawkill's imagination.
She shot a smile over at Palo, surprised at his stated wish to remain with the Praxeum here on Yavin IV. She sensed some kind of underlying critique in his manner towards the Jedi, but her earlier encounter with him had shown her that he didn't have a very good working knowledge of the current Jedi Order. This could be remedied in time.
When Rawkill stated his claim to the lightsaber hilt that Palo had given her as a 'present' upon arrival in the Hangar, she flashed a direct glance at him. Despite the fact that he was on the Council of First Knowledge and the fact that she intended to turn it over to him soon anyway, she felt momentary annoyance as she would have shown it to Mike and asked him what he thought. Unfortunately, that wasn't an option either. The sense of isolation that filtered through her presence in the Force was tinged with sadness.
"You'll have it presently, Master Rawkill," she replied in a calm, even tone. "And I heartily wish you well of it. The pain and suffering that it has caused---" the thought broke off, and she turned to Palo and Diamonte. "So, you think the simplest thing is to find whoever posted the bounty and convince them that it would be in their best interests to rescind it?" she inquired.

Palo listened as Diamonte's gentle tone sustained an authoritative demeanor as he disregarded the offer to absolve himself of responsibility regarding any unforeseen consequences regarding the Palo's arrival on Yavin IV. The demeanor became more defined with his stern expression as he mentioned the missing tattoos. “HE was having a rough day!?” Palo thought to himself. As tempting as it was to make a snide remark about showing the headmaster some skin, Palo decided to be appropriate and simply be straightforward.
“Synthskin,” Palo replied, “Not exactly Kiffar tattoos...they were given to me by my adoptive Ishi Tib parents on Tibrin and symbolize peace, though I was given them as a reminder of my Kiffar heritage. I wasn't trying to be deceitful, as I identified myself accurately, but if there happened to be a bounty hunter lounging around your hanger I would have a fighting chance to remain unidentified and evade any capture.”
Palo hoped his example of a bounty hunter infiltrating the Praxeum was perceived to compliment the ingenuity of said bounty hunter, rather than imply the security of the academy to be inadequate.
“If that suffices your inquiries, I assume I'm welcome to join the Order.”
Palo noticed Alexis smile toward him, and his uneasiness from conversing with Diamonte began to subside, though her presence felt somewhat stranded and sad. He wanted to ask her what was wrong, but she quickly redirected her attention to the bounty.
"Simplest, yes. But I'm not sure how effective that will be. If the Praxeum and the Republic are on good terms, they may just drop their bounty...but as for the individual or faction that posted the original bounty...they might need a little more persuading.” Palo paused, wondering if he was intercepting a question Diamonte was going to answer.

“I did mention that… didn’t I?”
My tone was flat, at this point i had a hard time keeping myself in a level tone. The words i heard made me personally believe i was a failure.
“Indeed you are welcome to join the order… however i would like miss alexis to look over a month or so of examinations and training before you are given any assignments. Master Rawkill, if you could help Palo with options regarding getting the Public bounty off his head as we both are aware it is currently easier to erase a jedi bounty from the Empire than from our allies the republic at the moment. Ms. Karidian, I would like to continue our discussion on getting the Academy's squadron up and running at a later point... if there is nothing else, you three may leave."
Multitasking was not my strong suit and as i Looked at the wall clock i noted how long this discussion had been going on. My dismissal of them was merely flat reasoning so i could focus on chatting with @miarte. Turning my head towards her, i nodded, the tone of my voice once more lifting to become a welcoming tone
“My apologies for the delay, it is easier to work one thing at a time for me than for chaos of everyone’s opinions. I am Diamonte Tuhlute, the headmaster, Master Rawkill informs me you have information you need to pass along?”

Although he was trying to be cordial and use proper etiquette, Palo felt he was getting under the Headmaster's skin. However, it seemed Diamonte was bogged down by numerous other problems and the bounty was just icing on the Cheffa cake. Palo was more sympathetic than irritated. From Diamonte's response, he gathered that the Republic and the Jedi Order were not on good terms, Diamonte looked exhausted, his cybernetic arm was causing problems, and the Academy's squadron is not operational. In addition to the recent attack on the Praxeum, Palo knew that amount of stress would weigh more than a pregnant ronto on someone's shoulders.
It was peculiar that Diamonte mentioned that it was currently easier to erase a Jedi bounty from the Empire than the Republic. He didn't think relations had become THAT bad, nor did he think the Empire would have posted the bounty. The Imperials he knew would have sent their own personnel before using bounty hunters, and would not normally post a “live-only” bounty, as Palo presumed his bounty was for capture and not kill. Palo thought it was fortunate that Master Rawkill would be able help pinpoint the origin and remove the bounty, as he believed his bounty could have been posted by any one of dozens of federations, confederacies, leagues, and assemblies.
He didn't mind the thought of being examined by Alexis, but he had a feeling Diamonte was implying his examination would be an extensive evaluation before joining the Order, not an “examination” resulting in the indulgence of particular desires. Regardless, it felt nice to have friendly company for at least the next month.
“It was a pleasure to meet you, Master Tuhlute, Master Rawkill, Pixar,” Palo said trying to be earnest as possible. “Thank you all for your acceptance and hospitality.”
After placing the glass and decanter of Darkoma back on the serving tray, Palo politely left the office and waited out in the corridors for Alexis and Master Rawkill. He exhaled audibly, without any attempt to hide the relief he felt once he was a few meters away from the office door. “I felt warmer during my stay at Hoth,” Palo thought to himself. While waiting he began to wonder where he heard Master Rawkill's name mentioned before coming to Yavin IV, and if the Ewok Jedi had a first name.

Tattoos huh? Alexis thought to herself regarding Palo. That would explain why he wasn't exactly as he appeared to her in the Force. She let the conversation drift around her while imagining what Palo looked like without the adaptations of the synthskin. She'd been loathe to look at him that closely before guessing that he might take it the wrong way. She blinked and looked over at Diamonte as he addressed her.
Instinctively she wanted to protest. A whole month? In which she'd actually have to be spending serious time with Palo Torsch? Not that she minded particularly, meaning, he wasn't hard on the eyes, but still! She sensed that he was secretly pleased with the arrangement and felt a faint blush creeping up her neck. Alexis ran a hand through her hair and nodded in acquiescence. "Fine," was her terse reply, before bowing and heading out of his room to join Palo in the corridor outside.
She bit her lip. From what Diamonte had said just moments earlier, Jedi/Republic relations were worse than normal right now, which really didn't surprise her, but she tended to think more narrowly in terms of her fighter and Yavin IV as opposed to the Jedi Order at large. Dav had always encouraged her to think bigger, but without him she'd withdrawn into more of her old habits, insulating herself from further hurt and loss.
"So..." the word trailed off as the door to Diamonte's quarters slid closed behind her with a quiet 'snick' and she looked over at Palo. "How do you feel?" she asked gently, knowing that the situation would have been intimidating under any circumstances although Palo's condition upon arrival and recent events on Yavin had made things even trickier than usual.

Palo said nothing for a few moments, as he was about to ask Alexis the same question. “Confused,” he admitted. “The Headmaster was insulted when I implied that my problems were my responsibility. Even after I said I would accept any assistance, he seemed offended, as if my bounty was his responsibility, and I was stealing the burden from him...Master Rawkill was less passive-aggressive but still has that air of authority about him.” Though Palo felt somewhat annoyed toward the Headmaster, he was not disheartened, nor did he regret requesting to join the Order.
“How do you feel?” he asked Alexis. Although Palo suspected she was happier that he was joining the Order than having to spend a month with him, he was more concerned about what he felt in the Headmaster's Office. “You seemed rather unhappy and, well...detached, when Rawkill asked for the lightsaber I gave you.” Palo stretched out with his feelings and began to sense Alexis' presence, noticing the same aura. “In fact, you still seem rather sad and introverted. Is there something bothering you? I don't want to invade your privacy, but...” Palo trailed off. They were going to spend the month together, and he didn't want a dark cloud of pessimism following her wherever they went. “Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?”

"Eh, I doubt he was actually offended," Alexis replied nonchalantly. "He's got his idiosyncrasies, same as the rest of us," she shrugged, not really sure how to put it without coming off as critical, "both of them have been through some interesting times lately. Master Rawkill is only here temporarily, as far as he knows. He's serving on the Council of First Knowledge, so he came from Coruscant when things started getting tricky here post-Mandalorian siege."
When Palo asked her how she was feeling, several answers came to mind, but she went with the one that was foremost in her thoughts. "Surprised. I did not think you would want to join the Order for some time yet." She frowned, a crease forming just over her nose, "not for several months, in fact. What changed your mind?" Alexis knew that the future was always in motion, and the possibilities that she could see shifted as different actions and decisions were made.
"I was just thinking that Mike would have loved to look at it," the oddly unobtrusive Jedi nearly worshiped lightsabers in all their forms. He'd nearly killed several students of boredom in lectures on early lightsaber construction in the beginning days of the Jedi Order. She felt sad. True, his piloting skills needed work, but the two of them had developed a very close friendship. At the time, he'd been a point of stability in a life that had been tossed about by chaos over the past few years, particularly in recent months. "Anyway, I suppose the Council of First Knowledge is within their rights."
She sighed before putting on a smile and looking up at him. "How about a hot mug of espcaf?"
