Anya looked to the statue that Panno mentioned before looking back to see him reading something. She was curious, but said nothing. As he continued, she let the changes that had been made sink in. As he finished, she found more questions had arises. Strange, for she felt she had understood the history well enough at a basic level and she had gotten a decent view of where they stood at the present. But with each answer opened a new question, always about the here and now, and this one, even closer to her and the possibility of becoming a Knight.
"So if I was to see the Force as more than a tool, fall deeper into understanding its power and existence, if I was to learn more of the dark and light-sides and even step into either, provided I kept a sense of morality and did not use the power for selfish or dark purposes, would any of that hinder me from being a Knight if I chose? While you have said you hold something different than the other Knights mostly for testing, does that all Knights give up any weapons or armor they once used or unable to create something new if they wished?"

He arched his eyebrow at that. Very seldom did people from outside the Empire join the Knights and those that did always had former training. It was true that she had been here to learn but this was something unexpected.
Thinking about being a Knight eh? His tone joking No I wouldnt think that learning both sides of the line would be harmful. We walk on a tightrope as it is, who is to say what one person says is morally right is indeed right. That is why our head of state has to serve the light as he is officially the head of the order.
It was always easier when someone was a force user was the Emperor. It was true that the force flowed through everyone and everything but not so well as a force user. You couldnt always see their intentions just by seeing the way the force revolved around them. A phrase resonated in his mind.
"For the greater good"
His face turned into a scowl without him meaning it and his voice tightened and became sharp. Angry even.
While on mission you can take whatever they need to help complete it. Weapons or otherwise. Although the more violent of us would argue that anything can be solved using just your lightsaber, armour and the force.

The doors to the Library of Fel Leadership opened, followed by four pairs of disciplined footprints with the sound of something robotic among them. Coming down the main aisle of the library was a small formation; five Stormtroopers holding their blasters at rest, escorting what appeared to be a four-legged mobile holoprojector. The lead Stormtrooper had indications upon his armor that he was a commander, possibly the Captain of the complex's Imperial Security force.
The small formation approached where Panno and Anya were speaking. The commander walked up to Panno and saluted him before gesturing to the holoprojector that continued to approach the pair.
Imperial Knight Panno, a communication from His Imperial Majesty has come in.
The commander stepped aside as the crab-like holoprojector came up and activated. The lights within the library dimmed slightly as the fluorescent blue image of the Emperor appeared before Panno. Nicademus seemed the same as before save his elevation from a simple Moff to the throne of an Empire. He wore a simple Imperial officer uniform per usual. Nicademus was known not to be extravagant with his appearance.
Nicademus begins the transmission with a bow of his head in respect at Panno.
Master of Arms and member of the Imperial Knights, Panno, it is a pleasure to see you again. I hope Aargau has continued on its route of recovery since the recent Rebellion that devastated the city. I know Imperial inspectors are still finding elements and members of the late Rebellion to answer for their crimes.
Nicademus pauses for a moment to sigh lightly. His mind remembering the scene of smoking and smoldering New Escrow as his troops arrived to bolster those that continued to hold out. His mind returns to reality and continues to speak.
Grandmaster Krieg has informed me that most of the Knights have been recalled to Aargau while others are still out on missions. Will they be ready to renew their oaths of fealty to the Empire on Kuat and take their position as the enforcers of the Empire's law and order?

Anya listened to Panno, nodding, taking in what he said about her understanding of the Force. So far, should she eventually decide that she wished to be a Knight, all would be in order. However, she watched as his expression became angry as he spoke on her question about weapons and armor aside from the traditional. She leaned back just slightly. It wasn't so much fear as it was merely backing up. She wasn't sure if that question had rubbed him the wrong way or if it was another reason. Whatever it was, ceasing her questions for now was a wiser option.
She was thankful when the troopers entered with the hologram. She stayed seated and watched, keeping herself calm and quiet, though she was fascinated with the device before her. She had never seen nor heard of one from Gavin and didn't understand its purpose, that is, until it activated with an image of Nicademus. At that point, it was easy to put two and two together. But for now she remained quiet unless she was addressed otherwise.

*Gavin had remained quiet the entire time they had entered the library. From the moment they left the elevator, h let Anya take the lead for it was her training and her who'd be learning. While still being her master, learning under another in such a situation placed them at the front of the training with him merely to observe. He turned his attention to the door an gazed upon them as they entered with the projector. To this day, he had never seen one like it. He gave a smirk as he walked up behind Anya and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder as he gazed upon the interaction between Panno and Nicademus.*

He was about to apologize for his accidental anger when the troopers approached him. Waiting a moment he returned the salute to the trooper. He was about to tell him to piss off and make up an excuse for why he couldnt talk at the moment but it seemed the Emperor would not be denied. He tried to bring back everything he knew about the man before he could speak. A simple man, a general for a former Empire. Horica maybe. Now the Emperor and not one for fancy displays he stayed standing up and only inclined his head.
Indeed since I returned to the planet things planetside have calmed down besides the occasional reprisal for judgements passed down by the courts. Its estimated that things should be back to normal in another month or two.
In truth Panno had left at the start of the riots to meet with Sinistra to tell her how the Knights would distance themselves from the Empire. By the time he had gotten to Kuat though she was gone and it was open rebellion here on Aaragu. Of course he did not need to say that.
Those that are here will make the pilgrimage to Kuat and gladly say our oaths before you and I assume the cameras. Any errant Knights who cant be recalled easily will have to come and do it on their own time. Currently there are 700 Knights planetside and maybe a third the number of squires who will be there.
Krieg was after all a media hound, trying to make the Knights appear perfect, so chances are he would be overlooked on camera. No need to show a non-human while there are prettier people to show. Namely himself.
Its been a long time since anything new of our exploits were shown and this should show the galaxy that we were not beaten by the mandalorian crusade. Paint the empire in a golden light and hopefully bring star systems to our cause.
Despite his calm demeanour he was actually seething with rage. It was a good thing this was a holoprojector.

Nicademus nods quietly to the words of Panno. The Imperial Knights would finally be given their due recognition. The Empire needed a public face and shadowy Sith were not that face. The perfect face was the Imperial Knights, an order of disciplined and neutral force users among the universe. It would give the Empire a new look within the galaxy.
I am glad to hear that the Imperial Knights still have a great number. I will need them as my bodyguards and the face of the Empire. This should put the Empire in a new light. The Sith are aware of my changes and understand, that as the Emperor, I have the right to adjust the infrastructure to include the Imperial Knights and non-force persons.
His eyes then glanced in the direction of Anya and Gavin, noticing that Panno was not alone. The Emperor then slowly turns his gaze back to the Master of Arms. There was something they needed to speak about. It was Imperial business though.
Panno, may we speak in private? I must speak with you about some Imperial Knight and Empire business.

They were at great numbers because they had been actively recruiting since the end of the war. Of the original 2000 Xeonon had mustered only 300 had survived the war. Many of the newest Knights were still green. Untested in battle, only having their training to rely on.
Of course sir.
Turning around he looked at the two force users in search of knowledge his face apologetic.
Duty calls it seems, sorry. I will have to continue with on the morrow; perhaps I can send someone else to help you. A true historian.
After waiting for an answer he turned around and with his cape flapping behind him he strode off beside the crab droid.
Do we need absolute security to talk or is it just out of earshot of non-Imperials?

The crab droid began to follow alongside Panno as the two walked off to speak. The Stormtroopers followed quietly behind them, the occasional shifting of armor plates and rifles kept them aware of their presence behind the Imperial Knight and the Emperor's holoprojection. Nicademus nodded to Panno's question.
Both, depending upon your viewpoint. It is something that must be said and done...I trust the Imperial Knights, Panno. Among them, you and the Grandmaster the most. I believe I should let you know a few things as I am fully aware of the distance between the Knights and myself since...Prakith.
Prakith, the name of a Sith planet within the Deep Core where a bloody stalemate, or defeat, was drawn between remnants of the New Order of the Eye and the Imperial Remnant. Many good personnel, among them veteran Imperial Knights, had lost their lives upon the planet's wasteland and Sith ruins. All because of his actions and commands. Xeonon made sure Nicademus was aware of his mistake and it was time to talk about it.
The crab droid paused as the holo-image of the Emperor turned to look at Panno.
I regret Prakith with all my heart, Panno. I had succeeded in revitalizing the Deep Core only to lose so many good subordinates and troops for nothing. People who trusted me and wanted me to lead the Imperial Remnant. When word of Aargau and the late Rebellion came to at Aargha, I told myself, not another Prakith, please let this not be another Prakith. I rushed to the planet to ensure it wouldn't be a repeat...I landed my soldiers and fought alongside them in order to restore stability and order on the planet. Yet the shadow of Prakith still lingered over me...
The Emperor paused for a moment with his words and took in a deep breath before speaking further.
Before coming to Kuat and assuming control of the Empire, a shadow visited me. The shadow of a man dead because of Prakith. This shadow reminded me of my failures, told me of his rage towards me and my actions, yet encouraged me to rise up and take control of the Empire. Now that I have, Panno, I seek reconciliation. That is why I want to renew the Imperial Knight's status as the Emperor's bodyguard, as the enforcers of its will, as the hands of justice and as the face of the Empire.

This was unexpected. Did the Emperor know what he was planning to do? There was no way that there was leak, only two people knew of the plan and he didnt tell. He couldn't. It was treason and it was punishable by death. Facing the droid he was aware of the guards behind him. Kind of overkill considering the man was not even here but it sure looked cool.
Sorry are you? I was there your Grace. I witnessed those closest to me die, one of them covered in a duracrete bomb and shatter once he plummeted to the ground. I pulled Xeonons body out of that cursed cave, the man dead and literally cut in two. Sorry wont bring them back.
Rubbing his forehead he sighed heavily.
I dont mean to be rude, its just that battlefield and all that death still haunt me. I close my eyes and see them, forgive my rudeness sir. Once I would have said no, we wont come and pledge fealty to the Empire. That was when Sinistra was in charge, no matter how good she was she was still a Sith and we would have been forced to kill her or turn her. It would have done no good for the Empire. We will be the face the Empire, its fist, sword, shield and anything else required of us. You will lead the Empire well.

The holoprojection of the Emperor flickered slightly as Nicademus listened to Panno. After a moment, the male sighed deeply again before the crab droid began to walk forward again. The projection moved as Nicademus put his hands behind his back while the two walked.
I assure you, Panno, I am in the same position. I am still haunted by those who lives died for nothing. And do not apologize, I understand your anger and your view of my incompetence during that situation on Prakith. I had failed to give attention to our military during my reforms and thus, they were unprepared for the battles on that planet.
Nicademus pauses for a moment as his gazed looked forward for a moment before looking to Panno.
I rose to become Emperor to make a change again, like I did with the Imperial Remnant. Yet this time, I will not fail again. The shadow made me realized that if I remained here, our Empire would fall apart as warlords grabbed for worlds and resources while our enemies moved in to secure possessions of ours. I could not let that happen on a grander scale. Its one step in the right direction, but there are many more steps to take in that direction.

Anya shook her head. "I have no more questions for now. I'll continue my reading."
She watched as Panno walked away with the projector until nothing could be heard. Turning back to the screen, she continued reading on.

Anya didn't look up from the screen. The truth was, she was beginning to wonder if she would truly want to. After the flash of anger from Panno, she didn't know. Of course, she still had no clue as to the truth behind that anger, if it was her or something else.
"I do not know. If I do, however, it is best to understand what I will be getting into as well as knowing what I may have to give up."

He had to play his part in this, he could tell what was expected of him. He disagreed with the mans thinking. There was a difference between feeling responsible and actually being there. Seeing the blood and guts. The man beside you get ripped in half by a crazy, inbred barabel. He held his tongue on that point though. This man was arguably the most powerful in the galaxy, he could destroy trillions on a whim. Yet he wouldnt. It wasnt for the greater good.
I will be alongside the Empire each step of the way.

A smile comes across the Emperor's face. His image flickers slightly as Nicademus nods to Panno.
That is what I want to hear. To know that the Imperial Knights will help myself and the Empire in any way it can. At least with the Imperial Knights, the people and galaxy will be able to see the face of its enforcers and justicars. As the symbol of the Empire's power and influence. As agents of both the Empire and Emperor's will. I thank you, Panno.
Nicademus then turns his gaze in the direction of the woman and man from earlier before looking at Panno.
Where those two earlier recruits for the Imperial Knights?

He had hoped that no one would ask to many questions but I guess it was to be expected.
The young girls name is Anya Syen, and the man is Gavin Pheonix. Travelling force users looking for some information on our order, our past, present. We haven't gotten around to the future yet but I feel I could learn a thing or two from the older one. From what I have gathered he is an exceptional smith like myself. Dont worry, they wont penetrate the inner workings unless they decide to join us.

Nicademus believed that Panno was capable in recruiting those present if they desired to join.
I know of Gavin Phoenix, my mentor had met the man a couple times in the past. Seems to be of a trustworthy nature. If they join, all the better. If not, at least they know that the Empire will not be enforced by Sith, but by the Imperial Knights.
His eyes fall upon Panno.
Once the knights have made their oaths, Panno, there will be plenty of assignments waiting for them. A lot must be done in such a short amount of time...for the greater good of the Empire after all. Hopefully with good results.
The crab droid then begins to make its way back to where Panno originally was, carrying the holo-projection of the Emperor with it.

There is was. His favorite saying. Had the man been here in person he may have just stabbed him and been done with it. The greater good? The big picture did not matter when innocents had to die. One person sacrificed was not right. Every life mattered. He paused for only a second, not enough to be noticable unless someone is watching for it.
The last mission I partook in ended with the deaths of dozens of Imperial Knights and the remnants of the 916th. Only two of us walked away from that debacle.
He laughed
Turncloaks. Deserters who forsook their oaths. I went to bring them back and someone wanted them all to die, the two of us included. I dont say this because I feel you would do the same, I say this because on our own we did not have a purpose. We like many others before us turned on ourselves, now once the oaths are taken and are given direction we shant do it again.

The Imperial Knights had seen much death it seems. The crab droid halted for a moment as Nicademus looks at Panno.
Well the missions I have in mind won't involve death, but mostly diplomatic ventures.
The droid resumes walking with Panno as the Emperor continues to speak.
There are three currently; one to Kamino, another to Eriadu and perhaps a third to Coruscant, but I will need to wait on further word from that. The ones to Eriadu and Kamino will be brought up once the ceremony on Kuat is completed for I will need to see who among the various commanders would serve best for each task.
