Numerous Imperial vessels drop out of hyperspace over the Core World of Corulag, situated along the Perlemian Trade Route and to the east of the Namadii Corridor. Utilizing the latter, the Imperial vessels jumped to a few neighboring systems, quickly conquering them with swift and brutal efficiency before dropping into the planet's orbit. The gargantuan flagship, Sol Invictus, hung within the vicinity of the fleet like a broodmother and her horde, gazing hungrily at the planet.
Upon reflection, Nicademus remembered how this world was one of the few possessions, outside the Deep Core, that once belonged to the remnants of the Second Fel Empire, reorganized into an Imperial Remnant under him. The planet experienced a violent upheavel due to pro-Republic and Imperial partisan groups, resulting in a bloody civil conflict. The planet fell off the radar after the Galactic Empire's dissolution. From here, however, Nicademus hoped to utilize it as a base of operations from which to spring further south, towards the prizes that awaited the First Order. He leans back in his command chair, waiting for additional fleets to join him; his mind contemplating how to best handle this planet's submission and annexation into the First Order.

The Resurgence dropped out of hyperspace not long after. As a former Imperial world, Harnan knew he and his forces would not be needed here. Although he hoped to distract himself with battle, this stop would not be it. But there were still many worlds to visit and conquer. It would not be long before blood was spilled and their forces met resistance

Warlord Command appeared in formation, shields up and sensors sweeping. This was an invasion after all, best be prepared for trouble. A few minutes later, as more imperial ships arrived, the order to stand down was given, and the fleet went from full quarters to high alert, as the first system in the FO's path proved to be a bit of a push over. Granted... having a SSD show up on one's doorstep unannounced tended to have that effect, regardless of the system in question. She was truly a prize to behold, Pellaeons's officers only hoped her crew was as formidable as the rest of the ship.
Warlord Command took up defensive positions around the Sol Invictus, each ship facing one of several space lanes in the area, in case any local hero types got the bright idea of causing trouble. SSD's were hard enough to maintain without being careless about the locals and the flow of ships around it. Fighters launched in double pairs, and patrolled the space a few kilometers out from the Sol Invictus, actively guarding against the possibility of hostile reinforcements arriving. Those weren't expected by the officers, but it never hurt to be prepared, so to keep the pilots on their toes, the officers hinted, in the mission briefings, that unverified intel pointed to a significant possibility that hostiles would arrive to counter the FO force.

The Smaug dropped out of hyperspace in formation with the rest of the fleets. It would have little part in the space battles to come. Instead the heavy strike forces on board her decks would serve to soften up the hardest targets on the surface that they could find. The Novatroopers were ready to serve their traditional role of the sledge hammer of the empire.
-Major Bain Full sensor sweep, All commands to the launch bays. Prepare for immediate combat launch. ALL HANDS, ORDER & LAW!
The rally cry was taken up by the seven hundred Novatroopers preparing to launch to the planet as the spear tip of the First Order.

*The Sol Invictus... Soku had not yet the chance to see the glorious vessel until now. He had heard the news, of course; in fact, Sobrius had been partially responsible for its recovery. It seemed he had brought several capable Bith engineers to the First Order as a condition of the Sith's induction into the faction, who had worked to help get the ship's engines, systems, and hyperdrive in working order so that they could bring the vessel to Yaga Minor for repairs.
The Knight of Ren had been taken by the Super Star Destroyer, marveling at its size and the fact that it even existed. So taken, in fact, he had needed Derel to rouse him from his state and remind him that they were to rendezvous at Corulag.* "Forgive me," *he had said, before giving the command to jump.
Thus, his two vessels were some of the last to arrive. He had spent the hyperspace journey envisioning the newfound power the First Order now held; the Alliance certainly stood no chance now. A Sovereign-class vessel was easily capable of crippling an entire fleet on its own with its powerful lasers. Worlds would fall in line, ripe for the picking; dissidence would be crushed and all would submit to true order. Nary a soul could dare hope to stand against them...*
"I know what you're thinking, and it can only be in one place at a time," *Derel scoffed.
Soku scowled but did not answer, instead having the ships hold position, awaiting further orders from the Supreme Commander. He did, however, focus himself; the campaign had technically begun, and he needed himself in full working order for this. The core was one of the most important regions of all the galaxy... And soon, the First Order would bring law to these untamed worlds...*

As the fleet closed in on Corulag's orbit, sensors began to detect movement on the far side of the planet to the left flank of the approaching Imperial fleet. From the side of the planet, an Imperial-class Star Destroyer, escorted by several heavy cruisers, identified as a few Dreadnaught-classes and four Invincible-classes. The Supreme Commander expected resistance and knew a show of force was needed to make them back off. He turns his gaze to the gunnery chief.
Fire main turbolaser batteries from the Sol Invictus from the port-side, Lieutenant. Give it a wide berth, but within the path of their advance.
Yes, Supreme Commander!
The port-side turbolaser batteries came online as the Sol Invictus intended to make its show of force. Alerts went out, ordering vessels, within way of the incoming salvo, to make way. Once coordinates were set, crews began to open fire. A brilliant display of green and blue turbolasers fired from the left of the Sol Invictus, becoming a maelstrom of firepower. Nicademus watched quietly, noticing that the incoming fleet was slowing down at the sight of the firepower. He grinned moments later as they were hailed. He made sure the transmission was on a frequency that the other commanding officers couild hear.
This is Supreme Commander Nicademus Delvardus of the First Order, who am I speaking with?
Supreme Commander, this is Admiral Warren of the Corulag Defense Fleet.
Admiral Warren? Do you by possibility mean the Captain Warren who was among the defending fleet at Corulag during the civil war?
The very same, Supreme Commander. It is good to have your presence once more over this world. We have long awaited the advancing First Order to come and retake this world that should be rightfully yours. Give me a moment to speak with the Governor.
I shall await further news, Admiral Warren.
The frequency is placed on hold, allowing Nicademus to relax in his chair. Imperial sentiment was still high upon Corulag it appeared, which only made this first conquest into the Core Worlds easier to achieve. However, this was only the first planet and, with a quick reflection, he knew which planets would require a little more than a show of force to persuade them to join the First Order.

Soon enough, a transmission came planetside from Corulag. It was on an open frequency for the entire fleet.
This is Governor Marcus of Corulag. On behalf of the citizens of Corulag and its government, we welcome the banners and soldiers of the First Order with open arms. It brings the people of Corulag joy that the Imperial banner will hang high above our city once more.
In response, a swarm of troop carriers would exit the Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyer to begin occupation of the world. Nicademus then pulled up a map of the galaxy, knowing what moves needed to be done next. On a secure Imperial frequency, he issues his next orders.
Fleet Admiral Arcavius, jump for Arkania with the Teutates Command. Begin the invasion if the Arkanian government refuses to bend their knees to the First Order. All other commands, form up on the Sol Invictus and prepare to jump for coordinates.. M-9. We move for Carida and begin our invasion!
Nicademus knew these two planets would certainly put up a fight. Brentaal especially given its location along two major trade routes. It would be a heavily fortified world with remnants of the Galactic Republic guarding its orbit and surface. Thankfully, the Supreme Commander brought plenty of manpower and firepower. The fleet splits in two as both jump for their respective destinations.

+Bridge of the Pathbreaker, Corulag's high orbit+
Standing on the bridge of her flagship, Shel was starting to feel odd. She had ever since her battlegroup had traveled to the Core. And it wasn't just her, her whole crew seemed more sluggish and unfocused. Even her Battle Meditation wasn't as effective. As far as she knew their was nothing differnt, maybe the aging was catching up with them? But she had tested random crewmen in the med bay and they showed no signs of rapped aging. What could it be? And how could she correct it? The Miraluka pondered these questions as she awaited her new master to arrive. Or to summon her. The duties of the fleet admiral had been finished for the time being and it was time to begin her new training.

Harnan had arrived aboard the Pathbreaker a few days earlier, after the vessel had arrived over Corulag to begin its newest set of orders. Despite what many had expected, Harnan had kept mainly to the officer's quarters and the training room that had been set aside for his use. He did not bother the crew, nor stalk the hallways seeking to incite a sense of unease which had become associated with his presence. All in all, compared to the stories the crew had undoubtedly heard about the infamous Harnan Ren, his time had so far been counter to any concerns they held.
It was not until he sensed the hour was right, that he had ventured forth through the ship and up to the bridge clad in his usual black armour. He came to a stop a couple feet behind Shel, crossing his arms as he watched the crew go about their duties. He could feel the disturbance within the Force, as the crew seemed sluggish and unfocused. Nothing in the reports he had read about them suggested that this was normal for any of them. Something was at play here that rested just beyond his understanding. Something that would take time to understand Lady Hu... Are you ready for your training to begin?

With a hand resting on her temple, Shel turned to face Harnan. Her teeth were gritted behind a grimace. Not only was it hard for her to focus, but everything seemed so much heavier. Lowering her hand back to her side, she gave a bow to Harnan, which she held longer than normal due to this imperceptive weight that seemed to affect the whole crew. It was lucky that this was not a battle situation, but who knew when that may come. Finally managing to straighten back out, Shel finally spoke, slowly, and deliberately.
=Shel= Master Harnan, yes, my duties as Fleet Admiral have been satisfied, and I am free to join you in the training room.

He stood, watching her for a moment as she seemed to struggle with just existing. Where she had once been agile and able to perfectly sync those around her to their proper tasks, she now fought to focus upon bowing and keeping her crew together. He stepped forward, offering his hand out for her to take. An unusual act of kindness for him Very well, let us take a walk down then... There is something we need to discuss on the way there...

She accepted the assistance of Harnan and nodded as he lead the way to the training hall. Once out of earshot of the bridge crew she looked down, ashamed.
=Shel= I am sorry, I do not know what has come over us.

He slipped her hand through his arm as he guided her through the ship. Turning to look toward her as she hung her head in shame. He did not have the answers that she sought, but he was certain it could be fixed There is something affecting them... Even I have to admit this is unusual for a crew... How long were you within the void for? He kept his pace slower than normal, to allow Shel to keep pace as he kept them moving toward their destination

That was a hard question, that had two answers. She walked along beside Harnan, each step had to be made deliberately, something she typically never had to do with such effort.
=Shel= Well, that is up to some debate, my crew and the records that we returned with from the Void, indicated only a 12 year excursion. While our Emperor and his scientists informed us that it had been over 40 years since we were last in known space. No one is sure how it is possible, I'm sure imperial R&D is looking into it though.

Harnan listened as Shel explained her answer. It was a rather curious phenomenon, that the crew felt like they had only been gone 12 years, yet they had really been gone far longer. As they got halfway to their destination, he guided Shel into an empty conference room that was nearby. Gently guiding her into one of the seats to give her a moment to regain some strength A curious experience... One I suspect not even R&D will be able to fully explain... Nor do I suspect I can either... Perhaps the Force and some kind of natural phenomenon combined together to create the time difference...12 years though, is a long time to be out beyond the reaches of this galaxy... What's it like out there? Beyond all of this?

Taking the seat gratefully, she sighed deeply. She thought back to those times, and all the ways it was different.
=Shel= We were a peoples unto ourselves out their. It was quiet, not like here. Everything is so load and busy here. Out their, in the space between galaxies, we were all we had, save our oaths of service to the Emperor... though if the records I have read are true, he was dead not a year after we left. We waited for the reinforcements but they never came. For 7 years we waited, and I grew up. Buried the man who called himself my 'Father' on a rock we had... cleansed per our mission. I took command and managed to keep us from being overwhelmed by the dangers of the Void. We went out their with an armada of 75 vessels, and I limped back with 6 ships in my command. I am glad we came back to not see Palpatine ruling, If we had he would have had us executed for our shameful retreat. But perhaps it would have been better than being the one to order another planetoid glassed for the sake of a mad mans ambitions to expand his Empire to another galaxy. I have done some horrible things in my past, Harnan, all of us did. Perhaps it is the weight of all those sins catching up to us, here back in civilization...
Another sigh. If she had tear ducts Shel would be weeping, but she simply sat their in silence.

As Shel took a seat, he had remained standing. Listening as she spoke of the journey she had undertaken into the void beyond the known galaxy. With a flick of his hand, the conference room door slid shut before he took a knee before her. He removed his helmet then, placing it upon the table next to her. He unbuckled his chest armour, placing it to the side with the undershirt he wore. He gently took hold of her hand then, pulling it close to trace over the scars that marked his chest. Starting with some of his oldest wounds We all have our own sins to bare Shel... The day I took the life of a defeated and unarmed opponent for the Eternal Empire... The campaigns I fought to expand the Empire of Valkorion... The fight I waged with one of my Sisters... The countless cities I have burned and sundered for the Ren... He pressed her palm against the most recent round scar just to the left of his heart Killing the former Master of the Ren... He let out a deep sigh as he made that admission. If Shel was to ever join the Ren one day, then he at least owed her the truth about what he had done. Better she find out now, than later on You may have glassed a world, but you brought back 6 ships full of survivors... People who are still alive thanks to your courage and the fact that Palpatine is no longer alive... You have a chance to rectify the sins you have committed... A chance you deserve more than I do... You traveled to where none others had gone before and returned alive, from a place.... Far away from here... His left hand rested upon her cheek then, as he met her sightless gaze. A realization starting to dawn upon him then, perhaps the solution to what the crew was experiencing was just within his grasp

Shel still bowed her head. It was difficult to look back on those times. Especially the more removed she and her crew were from their original mission. The shift in priority, from exterminating any life form they encountered, to now defending a system, was a stark contrast. But not even that was the answer to her and her crews sloppiness now. Sighing again, Shel finally looked up to Harnan as he took her hand. She felt his scars and her heart sank for him. And he thought she was worth redeeming? She could have repainted her entire fleet, at it's full strength, in the blood of her victims multiple times over.
=Shel= I ordered the slaughter of billions, I made that slaughter more efficient with my Battle Meditation. We didn't even wait to open communications. We just opened fire. So if I am worthy of redemption then so are you. My whole life I was trained and raised to be a tool by witch more such atrocities could be committed. You slaying your master, your wars, it seems we are cut from the same template, we were built for the same purpose. My hope now is to be used now by a just Emperor, not a mad man.

Harnan let out a sigh as Shel stated that he was worthy of redemption if she was. While he did not perhaps fully believe her, nor did he think himself worthy. He still intended to try spending the rest of his days working to atone for his sins. He pulled her face closer then, resting his forehead against hers as she spoke of being used by a just Emperor So it would seem, that we are weapons of war... But even so, never surrender your independence. You are not some tool to be used by a just emperor or a mad man. You are Shel Hu, Fleet Admiral and, hopefully, aspiring Ren. We must, each of us, forge our own destinies. Otherwise we can never hope to atone for what we have done and what has happened... Otherwise you become little more than what you once were...

Shel went quite for a moment, she could feel Harnan's forehead against hers. Taking a deep breath she calmed her nerves. She pulled away from the knight and faced him.
=Shel= We will see, I have chosen my path and I will see where it leads me to.
