Dav Man'Selldunno if you would have heard of him...Jedi Battlemaster and High Council MemberI've always written Dav to play the hero, in some form or another. He tends to bounce between Action Hero and Intellectual Thriller Hero, and has over the course of time on JvS, also evolved into a bit of
The Obi-Wan/
Big Brother Mentor/
Old Master. He's certainly incredibly intelligent and, after all he's been through, has the wisdom of experience. At any rate, he's a Jedi Guardian at heart, and his focus is mostly on Combat and taking action.
SkillsLightsaber Combat: Dav is a Battlemaster, it's his job to know Lightsaber combat better than more-or-less anyone. I've essentially developed different writing styles for all seven of the main Lightsaber forms. Dav's primary style is Jar'Kai based on Ataru, Juyo/Vaapad, Soresu, or Djem So. Dav is also highly skilled in unarmed combat. He's reasonably good with ranged weaponry too, but almost always forgoes them in preference for getting up close and personal. Dav's connection to his Lightsabers and their use is his most powerful Force related talent, and there are a number of powers that he uses best, or can only use, in relation to his Lightsabers.
Starfighter Combat: Dav leads Dragon Squadron, making him one of the top starfighter pilots in the Galaxy. He, along with the Squadron (which includes Jago, and a number of other noteworthy Jedi characters), are up for anything that would be tasked to someone like Rogue Squadron in canon.
Investigative RP: Naturally exceptional in skills in observation and deduction, in which he has had further training alongside micro-expression and body language reading, Dav has often demonstrated the ability to
Sherlock Scan people and situations. He often applies that skill to combat - which is where he first developed it, seeing someone's strength and a hint at their skill and flexibility in a glance, spotting concealed weapons, noticing weak points or injuries they're trying to protect or conceal - but is a capable investigator. I'm currently writing a JotW which focuses on that side of his character, and have RPs and other JotWs planned in the future.
Shatterpoints: One of the powers Dav is currently learning to understand and gain a better control of is Shatterpoint - specifically, the situational based ones, where he can see in moments of time where potentially great change could be inacted, who or what has importance and who is just a passenger, where there needs to be some attention. It's not a perfect power, however, and he isn't prone to visions of the future. This power is pretty much a force-based development of the situational awareness he has that makes him good at Investigative RP.
Stealth: A long time ago, Dav spent a lot of his time relying on Stealth techniques, and has developed a good grasp on infiltration and detection avoidance, combining both Force related skills with more standard abilities.
High Council/Jedi Tutor Related RP: Dav's pretty comfy in the role of wise mentor and source of teaching and guidance, and I'm pretty comfy writing it. As a Battlemaster and as a leading Jedi at the Yavin Praxeum, teaching is one of his two primary roles.
Search and Rescue/Crisis relief: Dav helped convert the Yavin Defence Force into a Peacekeeping and Humanitarian task force with specialist search and rescue and crisis relief equipment. A bit like Thunderbirds meets the Red Cross.
Diplomatic Missions: Dav has a pretty good grasp of political game play - though he often tries to rise above it - and a reasonably good grasp at diplomatic duties. He is, however, a Jedi Guardian first and foremost, and will not compromise on what he sees as his fundamental principles, which makes him perhaps a little too stubborn for diplomacy sometimes.
Politics: Again, with internal politics such as within the Republic, Dav has some skill but little motivation. He'll do what is necessary, but stick him behind a desk or in a senate or cabinet chamber for too long, he's likely to get antsy and wander off and have an adventure. He is available to offer advice, though, to political leaders, and has a general wisdom that they tend to find useful.
Fleet Command: Dav's a good Fleet commander, but prefers to be in the thick of things. However, from an OOC perspective, I have Fleet commander NPCs that fill that role and that Dav tends to delegate to IC. I prefer to keep fleet elements as more of a background element rather than the main focus of my writing.
Technical Skills: Dav's Intelligence allows him to have a strong grasp of Science and Technology - necessary to be a good Fighter Pilot, a lot of the time. He can improvise weapons and machinery pretty quickly for temporary purposes, and is particularly skilled at Starfighter design/repair/maintenance and small craft mechanics. He does tend to seek assistance from more techie-based characters where he can, however, even if that's just his Astromech Droid, Dirty.
Healing: Battlefield First Aid/Medic only. No skill in Force related healing.
Precognition/Force 'Seer' roles: Outside of his Shatterpoint abilities, which let him gain vague impressions on destinies and importance of moments, Dav has no real ability as a Precog beyond the danger sense aspects of Battle Precognition (in which he is highly skilled). What few visions he has are usually uncontrolled, unexpected, and come in the form of dreams.
Battle Meditation: Not something he has any skill at. The closest he comes is the Force Meld that Dragon Squadron flies under. Get someone else to apply their will to others.
Telepathy related abilities: Strong will power of his own, granting him excellent mental defences, but incredibly limited abilities in externally focused telepathics, with only stealth based abilities really at his grasp. Requires touch to be able to focus his telepathic abilities a lot of the time, except for when in a Battle Meld with his Squadron or close friends.
OOC Perspective: Dav's Force Powers tend toward the application of subtler and cleverer techniques. He rarely makes demonstrations of great power, not even in telekinesis. He's excellent at reading current situations and getting a feel for what is going in the current moment, and what that current moment is building to in the immediate future, but he has no real controlled skill at seeing the future beyond a well honed danger sense. In those areas where he is weak, he relies on subtler techniques cleverly applied rather than powerful ones, in recognition of his own limitations. Most of his abilities lay in the Control school of Force Powers, although he has a little skill in Tutaminis related abilities, particularly absorb powers.
Activity level: Medium-High to High. Usually on at least three or four times a week, and a lot of the time, online almost every day. Occasionally events will reduce my activity for between a few days and a week or two, but it's always temporary and I always come back.
