Ali was busy updating patient files in her office when the lights in the room began flickering. Raising a delicate eyebrow, she looked up at the ceiling and watched the light fixtures for a moment. When they flickered again a few more times, she rose from her desk and walked over to the door muttering to herself as she reached for the door handle."What the hell is going on now?"Opening the door, she saw that the hallway lights were flickering also. Catching her lower lip between her teeth, she leaned against the door frame while folding her arms across her chest and watched the lights blink all up and down the hallway. Doors began opening up and some of the other doctors and nurses stepped out into the hall. Some of them looked to Ali with a silent question in their eyes. Shaking her head, she straightened up and walked down the hall disappearing around the corner. She was going to check and see if the whole complex was affected, and if so then what was causing the lights to flicker.
On her walk around the facility she was comlinked by staff members several times, from different floors of the hospital, informing her of the problem with the lighting system. So now she knew that it was affecting the majority of the RDMC. As she made her way down to the lower levels of the facility, she decided to stop in the Cybernetics lab and see if Dr. Van Buuren was having the same problem as the rest of the complex...-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------OOC: RP continued HERE....

At long last, Vinaara Ja found her way to the offices of a Dr. Alisha Mercotti. This same Dr. Mercotti would be interviewing her as a potential employee of the Red Dawn Medical Center. VJ was happy to notice that her anxiety had finally faded. She wasn't an anxious creature when push came to shove, but she never suffered anticipation well.
As she stepped into the office, she noted how cozy the space looked. It actually looked livable, which was a vast improvement to some of the other places in which she worked. The Togrutan smiled and cleared her throat before introducing herself, "Ah, hello, Dr. Mercotti. I'm Vinaara Ja here for the interview..."

Ali had left Wilhelms office, in the cybernetics lab, after hearing her name being paged over the hospitals intercom. Once she was back in her own office, and with a mug of caf in hand, she sent a message to Betsy letting her know that she was ready for her next appointment.
She sensed another presence before seeing whom the aura belonged to. Upon hearing a voice, she looked up to see a Togrutan woman who introduced herself as Vinaara Ja. Smiling warmly, Ali motioned toward one of the chairs in front of the desk while she walked around to sit behind it in her own chair.
"It's good to meet you, Vinaara. Please, have a seat and tell me about yourself. Would you like something to drink?" She waved a hand toward the caf machine situated on a nearby table. The very same caf machine that she'd just gotten her own mug of caf from. She took a sip from her mug while she waited for Vinaara to make herself comfortable. Interviews, in her experience anyway, always went more smoothly when everyone was comfortable and at ease with each other....

Vinaara Ja smiled and shook her head before taking a seat in one of the proffered chairs, "Ah, thank you but the caf would only make me jittery. As to your inquiry, I'm originally from Shili," she tried not wince as she spoke, "but I haven't lived there for a long time." To her relief, she managed to keep her voice steady and cordial. Renewing her smile, she continued, "I've been interested in medicine since leaving my planet; and, since I'm the diligent sort, I taught myself most of the skills I know. What I didn't teach myself, I learned from other doctors at various clinics where I freelanced and certified myself as a medical practitioner; but most of my practical experience comes from working as a medic aboard a ship known as the Starweird, where I've been employed for the past several years..."
Her voice faded there. She didn't know what else to say, so she figured that she'd let this Dr. Mercotti probe as she liked.

Ares Solaris...
Supposedly a RDMC doctor, supposedly one of the descendants of the remaining noble houses from Coruscant, supposedly...
All of those supposedly were actually the truth when people thought about it. At least for the second point, the former point, he did not know any longer since he had been AWOL for almost a year now and the only thing he had said to Alisha, his then girlfriend, was that he needed to take some time off. No explanations, nothing whatsoever, he just upped and leaved in the direction of Honoghr's jungles only because he needed to train more, he needed to hone his skills, not just as a healer but also as a warrior.
The days before he upped and leaved he had come across something disturbing, something inevitable apparently, how could he not believe those hearsay when it actually come from his own mom? How could he not when it was his own flesh and blood, something that led him to confront his dearest father about it, and then the bomb dropped...
A single person telling him things, at first that was hard to believe, but then a second one? How could Ares not believe at that point? He had no idea how to take it all, how to even come to terms with that, he just knew that it was unfair and he couldn't let Ali deal with that, deal with anything that had been going on ever since... Ares couldn't actually say or think anything about it, he just could not but one thing was certain, he had to let his brother know maybe, and when he had finally consulted his datapad and comlink did he see the multitude of messages left for him, from Ryan and even his half sister, Crystal. By the Force, did they even know? Especially that now it seemed that even their father seemed to have disappeared from the face of the galaxy...
Ares did not know everything for sure, but if he was sure of something, his presence here could turn out to be a toxic thing for Alisha, for her mom, for her cousins and everyone else on this planet maybe. He knew what he had to do and hopefully he would have that courage to do it, and no he did not choose the cowardly road and just leave entirely without an explanation, that wasn't him and he owed Ali that much, which was why he had made his way towards her office after freshening up putting on clean clothes. Appearance wise, he might have gained some muscles, actually he did and his signature seemed brighter than it was than the last time. But now he was here, in her office, actually waiting for her to come here and potentially also give his letter of resignation from RDMC. He also wouldn't be surprised if she had moved on, it would be for the best if she did, at least that was what he thought... Give me strength... Ares thought to himself as he leaned against her desk just waiting for her.

Ali had just left the security center in the lower levels of the RDMC, stopping only to check on a few of her patients and chatting with them a few moments before finally making her way to her office. As she neared the door, she felt a presence she hadn't felt in a year, though it was somewhat brighter than before. Coming to a halt in the middle of the hallway, she stared at the closed door. It couldn't be, could it? What was he doing here? What did he want? Did he think he could just waltz back into her life after leaving without so much as an explanation? Of all the....
Closing her eyes, she took a few calming breaths centering herself, her short flare of anger subsiding for the time being. She would listen to what he had to say. She owed herself that much, to get some kind of closure on the situation. Opening her eyes again, she took the last few steps to the door then entered the room when it swished open. There he was leaning against her desk looking freshly showered and dressed. She couldn't decide whether to hug him or punch him, or both, so instead her hazel eyes quickly swept over him from head to toe as she took in his appearance. He looked a bit more muscled than when she had last seen him but still just as handsome as ever. Dammit why did he have to look so good? It would've helped if he looked more like a scruffy nerf herder than a model that had just stepped out of the pages of some holomag.
Pursing her lips slightly, she met his gaze. In her mind she had worked out, months ago, what she would say to him if she ever saw him again, but all of that went flying out the window the moment she entered the office and laid eyes on him. The only word she could muster at the moment came out in a soft low tone. "Ares...."

Even before she came into view, Ares already knew that Alisha was standing behind that closed door. He could make something of her emotions, that sudden flare of faint anger, he knew that he was the cause of it, and he also knew that it was due to him that she was feeling that way. Anger, just apprehension? He could only assume, after all over the past year even though she was continuously on his mind, even though she was the person that he thought about the whole time, he tried to stay away like he tried to be better, to be stronger and just be prepared for whatever might have come sooner or later...
When the door of her office finally opened, the first thing he wanted to say had vanished entirely from his mind. Her beauty just hit him like a ton of durasteel and he couldn't believe that he had caused her pain. She deserved so much more and so much better than someone like him. And then her voice rang to his ears, it was that soft murmur that he had branded to his mind eons ago whenever they would be together and closer, but now they seemed miles apart.
Looking at her and locking his gaze with her, Ares first inclination was to approach her, to take her in his arms, to just hug her and tell her how sorry he was, just how of a moron he had been, but none of that, Ares stayed put and he seemed like he had his hands was securely onto the edge of her desk. "Alisha..." Ares murmured, his eyes was filled with pain, with torment and also maybe he seemed apologetic then and there, but everything he wanted, needed to say was just vanishing.
Closing his eyes momentarily and taking a deep breath, he finally pushed away from the desk and stood a few feet away from her. "I know that whatever I may say won't excuse the fact that I have left without a warning, but just a note." Ares said softly before shaking his head and looking back at her with a saddened expression. "I also do know that you may never forgive me, or do not wish to see me again, but I owe this much to you, I..." Ares sighed and wondered how he could even start to explain this. "My family is cursed, Ali, and I am bound to protect something, which I do not even know what yet, but all I know is that I am cursed and I am supposedly going to die sooner or later."
He knew that this was sounding crazy for her, because she could think how would he even know, but he had been told about that supposedly pattern, and upon remembering it, Ares came to realize that it was the truth and the inevitable. "I did not want you to be a witness of that, like I do not want to be the cause of your worries, and I can't let anything happen to you, to anyone that I care about because of me." Ares said softly before shaking his head, he had already everything prepared back then, he had worked out everything in his mind, he was even going to propose but before he could even do that, he had received that comm, and everything changed...

Ali could see the pain and torment in his eyes when he spoke her name. Upon hearing his voice, a voice she hadn't heard in a year, she felt her defenses begin to crumble. He had closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath before opening them again and pushing himself away from the desk. Standing a few feet away from her, he began speaking softly. When he glanced back at her, she could see the sadness etched on his handsome face. She had to fight the urge to close the distance between them when he sighed and continued on with his explanation. She stood silently listening to him speak of a curse on his family and how he was supposedly going to die because of the curse. Had he always known this or did he find this out when they were on Umgul? Was this the thing that had made him distance himself from her after their return? No, there had to be more to it than this family curse, she thought to herself as she listened to his voice.
When he finished speaking he shook his head almost as if he, himself, didn't believe what he'd just told her. Ali had a feeling that he did believe at least some of it though. She remained quiet for a moment or two, studying him and contemplating what he'd just told her. She had learned over the years to not doubt anyones feelings and intuitions about certain things and she didn't doubt Ares' now. If he even partially believed in his family's curse then there was most likely some kind of proof to back it up. She'd never known him to lie to her so she knew he'd never make something that serious up. The thing that hurt her the most, possibly even more than his year long absence, was that he hadn't opened up and shared his fears and suspicions with her. Now he was standing in front of her telling her some of them and leaving himself open to her ridicule or acceptance.
She took a deep breath and let it out as she glanced out the window then looked back to him. All of the anger she'd felt before suddenly vanished as her hazel eyes met his blue ones. Her voice held the same soft tone as before when she spoke. "Did you think I wouldn't believe you or stand by you, Ares? Did you think that you had to face this all alone?"
She inquired, shrugging out of the white lab coat that she wore and taking her time smoothing it over the back of her chair. Taking a step toward him, she folded her arms across her chest as she tilted her head to the side a little her eyes searching his. "I learned long ago to take things like, visions, prophecies, and yes even apparent curses seriously....even if they don't come to fruition. I'm a big girl, I could've handled it if you had just told me what was going on. We could've figured out how to deal with it together."
She paused a moment, trying in vain to stamp down her emotions, as she glanced away from him while she gathered her thoughts. Looking back to him she sighed softly. "I just don't know where I stand with you anymore, Ares, and it upsets me because I still love you, dammit!"
The words tumbled out before she could stop herself. Clenching her jaw at the realization of what she'd said, she abruptly turned away and walked to the window resting a hand on the cool thick glass as she stared out at the city not really seeing anything in particular.
"I still love you...."
She repeated the words in a low hoarse tone, knowing at that moment they were probably the most truthful thing she'd ever uttered in her life. She was still in love with him even after he'd vanished for a year without so much as a goodbye - and now he was back and it left her wondering if he still felt the same way she did....

Ares knew that Alisha had every reasons to fault him for that, for not opening up, for not explaining and despite his gaze locked to hers, he could see that the anger she might have felt against him had disappeared... But to what cost? Ares knew he had to answer for his vanishing act, that he had to answer for his lack of communication. A part of him wondered just why, simply why couldn't she see? Why couldn't she see that despite his fears he had to wrap his mind around all of that, around all of the horrors, the terrors but also the pain his family had endured, and it wasn't just his family, it was also the Drakes, it was also the Jades. But he still needed to speak with everyone from each family.
He had one way for that to happen...
But his thoughts had been put on halt when she stepped closer to him and he could not help but to keep looking into her eyes, without so much of a movement, because he knew, he just knew that if he reached out for her, if he took her in his arms, or just kissed her as if he was picking up where they had left off, it would have been wrong. He respected her that much to not even attempt something stupid that way. So all he did was to stay motionless and to listen to her attentively. Yes, they could have figured it out together but really that bigger part of him didn't want her to be a part of all of that, of all of his family had been through and were bound to go through as well. Did she even realize what she was asking of him?
And then the filter broke...
Everything he had assumed prior to stepping back into her office, well let's just say that he completely felt stupid right there. He had assumed that she had moved on, he had assumed that she had found someone worthy of her time, someone who would treat her better than he did when he left her a year ago without warning; but no, it was all there, she had told him those words, she had told him that she still loved him and at that moment, he felt as if he had been standing in the middle of a bantha stampede. It took him a while to recollect himself, it took him a while to find the words, but her words were still ringing clearly through his mind, even the ones she had whispered, the words she reiterated hoarsely in a low tone.
Turning to look at her, everything in Ares broke at that precise moment, figuratively speaking, the binds he had placed top stop himself from running to her and just capture her lips for a kiss that he desperately needed, everything just vanish right that moment. All Ares wanted was her, and all he needed was her, to just touch her again, to be closer to her, unable to stop himself he walked right up in her direction and stood behind her closely. He even wrapped an arm around her waist and placed his hand on hers, the one that was against the window. "I still love you, Alisha Emilynn Mercotti..." Ares murmured softly before he took her hand from the window and turned her around that is if there was no resistance. "I am still in love with you." He sincerely murmured, one of the many reasons why he had left, but also one of the many reasons why the woman right here in his arm was someone he couldn't stand to lose or get hurt because of him. But that right now did not matter, as he placed his hand on her cheek to kiss her, desperately, passionately and lovingly...

All of her resolve and resistance was forgotten the second he slid an arm around her waist, and with his other hand covered hers that was braced against the window. His confession that he indeed still loved her, and was still in love with her, as he turned her around to face him caused her look up and see the raw emotion in his eyes when their gazes met. When he placed his hand on her cheek and kissed her, all rhyme and reason fled her mind as she let her hands glide up his chest to his shoulders then to finally come to rest gently on the sides of his neck. Returning the kiss with a fervor equal to his own, she momentarily lost herself in the landslide of emotions until somewhere in the back of her mind it clicked that they were still in her office where anyone could happen upon them at any time. Reluctantly breaking off the kiss, she rested her head against his chest speaking a little breathlessly. "Ares....chéri....wait....we shouldn't...."
She made the mistake of looking up into his eyes again seeing his love, and need, for her and feeling the same for him. Realizing that this was not the time for conversation, not until they sated their need for each other after being apart for so long, she shook her head slightly while giving in to the moment. "Ah, the hell with it...." She muttered with a wave of her hand toward the door, which could be heard locking with a soft click, as their lips met again.

Ares had been breathless after she pulled away from the kiss. He was still looking at her, yearning for her touch, yearning to just make her his, he just needed her, although he did understand that this was the wrong place and the wrong time, but as such, he had been happily surprised to hear that she had closed and locked the door to her office and he got back to kissing her with fervor, to the point that he picked her up from the ground and carried her in his arms.
Pausing momentarily, he pushed his head back and extended his hand over her table and literally pushed everything off of her desk and just laid her down right there before undressing her...
An hour later, Ares had found himself on the couch of her office with Ali in his arms, all of their clothes were scattered around and he was pleasantly sated from that. It had been too long since he had last felt this closeness with her, it had been too long since he had felt this way, and he owed it all to her, he still loved her, and he would always will, that wouldn't change at all. "Ali..." Ares started to say with a faint smile as he looked at her seriously. He did not know why he felt the need to say this here and now when maybe it was the wrong time but what the heck. "Will you marry me?" Ares asked quite seriously looking into her eyes.

She laughed softly when he picked her up and turned toward the desk. With a sweep of his hand everything went flying to the floor as he laid her down on the smooth surface, but at that point she didn't care where the contents of the desk went as long as it wasn't on the desk anymore and impeding their progress. All she cared about right now, was this man. This man that made her feel more cherished, alive, and loved than anyone had ever made her feel before. Soon enough clothing was tossed aside thrown to the floor to join the scattered items from the desk.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Later on they lay in each others arms on the couch relishing the close contact. Idly, Ali softly traced random patterns on Ares' chest with a forefinger while she listened to the strong steady beat of his heart beneath her ear. Sighing inwardly with love and contentment, she knew that eventually they would have to return to the previous conversation but for now she was quite comfortable just being close to him. Closing her eyes, her finger still tracing his chest, she stretched a leg over his and reveled in the moment.
When he spoke her name her eyes opened as she stopped the tracing movement of her finger and raised up a little on the elbow of her other arm to look him in the eyes with a lazy smile. What he said next caused her pause momentarily. She wasn't sure she'd heard him correctly at first. Raising herself up, so that she was looking down at him, her eyebrows shot up in shock and surprise when she saw the serious look on his face and then knew that she had actually heard him just ask her to marry him.
"Ares....I...."
She was temporarily left speechless by the question as her mind raced with questions of her own. Was she in love with him? Yes. Did she ever want to get married? Yes. Did she ever really expect him to propose? No. She wanted to ask him if he was sure but the look on his face, all the love and emotion there, told her that he was. Leaning back, she pushed her hair behind her ear, her eyes sparkling with everything she felt.
"Yes."
She murmured softly before suddenly sprawling her body over his, her hands on either side of his face as she kissed him lovingly. "Yes, Ares Solaris, I'll marry you! Now! Today! Tomorrow! Whenever we get around to it!"
She couldn't contain herself, she was laughing and crying at the same time while raining kisses over his face and lips. Growing more serious again, she rose up a little so she could see his eyes. "I'll. Marry. You." Her voice was soft as she enunciated every word, conveying everything she felt right at that moment. Smiling, she kissed him more lingeringly this time while her fingers toyed with the hair at his temples.

Ares held his breath momentarily, he had been very serious about asking her to marry him, and quite honestly for a moment he had thought that perhaps she might have refused, especially with him being gone for a year but then he had come back, he did tell her what he had been dealing with, and she had told him that no matter what she would have stood by his side. He believed her and quite honestly? He should have never doubted that for a moment, instead of just upping and leaving, he should have spoken to her. Right now there they were, he had surrendered into what he wanted the moment he saw her again, and then more. He had thought that she might have had moved on but with what they had just done, abandoning themselves into passion and love for one another, he could feel and tell that it had always been him and he hoped that she felt it too when it came to him.
Now he was waiting for her answer, and it came soon enough before he could even say anything further, Ares found himself under her, kissed by her and that just made him wrap his arms around her happily before kissing her back passionately and just happily at least that went on until he pulled his head back and looked at her with a warm smile before tucking some of her hair behind her ear. "You make me the happiest man, Alisha Mercotti." Ares said sincerely before kissing her forehead affectionately, he rolled them on the couch so that he was on top of her and he looked at her with a knowing smile.
Pecking her lips once more, he got up soon enough from the couch and looked around at the mess in the office. He made a face at that and just started to gather their clothes, but more importantly he needed to find something in his pants, when he did find his pants, he put that on after his boxers and patted the pockets finding it to be there, thankfully. Walking back in her direction with her own clothes, he handed that to her and sat back down on the couch before pulling the ring out of his pocket and looked at her lovingly.
"I wanted to ask you a while ago, after coming back from Umgul or a few weeks after that, but I never got to it, so I am doing it now." He told her softly before asking for her left ring finger so that he could put it there and when he did, he looked back at her with a grin knowing that it would fit her at least because he already did take the measurements before when she had been unaware of but that she didn't need to know. "I do know that I have more explaining to do, and I promise that I will tell you everything that I know but first," Ares nibbled briefly his lower lip and looked at her for a moment in silence. "How bad do you think I am in trouble with your mom?" Yes, out of the questions he could have asked, maybe Ali wasn't expecting that one, but still Ares was somewhat apprehending his encounter with Jena, he did respect her that much anyways, and yes she could scare him if she wanted to, but he wanted to make everything right, with not only Ali but also with Jena and also his sister and brother back on Umgul who both had been trying to contact him for a while now.

She smiled against his lips before he pulled back declaring that she'd made him the happiest man. He kissed her forehead with affection then rolled them both over on the couch so that he was above her. After their lips met once more, she watched with a smile as he got up and started gathering up their clothes that were strewn about the room. Sitting on the edge of the couch, she reached over and plucked her undergarments from a nearby chair and wiggled into them while he was still collecting the rest of their clothing.
He had pulled on his boxers and pants then came back over to hand her the rest of her clothes. She had quickly pulled the scrub shirt over her head when he sat down beside her. Reaching into the pocket of his pants, he pulled out a beautiful ring while looking at her lovingly and speaking softly, telling her that he was going to ask her when they had returned from Umgul or even a few weeks after, but had never gotten to it until now. She'd smiled in understanding, knowing that he'd had a lot on his mind after that trip and didn't hold it against him for not asking then. In truth, she probably wouldn't have been ready if he had asked then.
Now, even though she had already said to his proposal, she was still a little nervous with the excitement of it all when he slid the delicate band, inlaid with several gemstones, on her left ring finger. It fit perfectly, much to her delight. She quietly pondered on how he knew her ring size, but quickly pushed that thought to the back of her mind when he asked her about how much trouble did she think he was in with her mother. Ali was silent for a moment, inwardly trying to not laugh aloud at the somewhat apprehensive look on his face. She wasn't sure why he seemed a little scared of Jena, but it rather amused her that he was. Sure Jena could be strong willed and opinionated at times, but that was just who she was.
Standing up, Ali pulled on the pair of scrub pants he'd handed her then moved to stand between his knees. Gently cupping his face between her hands, she gave him a quick kiss then looked into his eyes. "Jena is harmless, chéri. The most she'll do is give you her opinion, and maybe give us a lecture....but ultimately she just wants to see us happy. Don't worry so much." She smiled reassuringly as she ran her fingers through his hair, her hands coming to rest at the nape of his neck.

Ares still had that apprehensive look, not only from the fact that he might have been in trouble with Ali's mom but also maybe she did not like the ring? Maybe it was the color or just, he did not know... Either way he was still a bit nervous as well when he slid the engagement ring to her finger. Judging though from her expression, she loved it otherwise he would have offered to switch it for another one, but she was definitely coming with him. Those matter aside, Ares looked up at her when she stood right there between his legs and just placed his hands on her waist.
"Jena will give me a lecture, I do not see what she would lecture you about, amore." Ares told her with a faint grin, although he was certain that if he wasn't going to be in trouble with Ali's mom, he might be in trouble, or he already was, with his siblings. Ares sighed softly and stood up before putting his shirt back on with a faint grin. "I suppose a lecture from your mom, that I can live with it, but with Ryan and Crystal..." Ares made a face at that and shook his head briefly before resting his forehead against her and wrapping his arms around her. "They have been trying to reach me for a while now..." When Ares really disappeared from Ali's life, he really and entirely disappeared as well from his family overall.
It wasn't to make her feel better or make her feel bad, but it was also to let her know that more or less she hadn't been alone in that position he had put her through, pushing his head back from her, Ares placed his hands on her cheeks and leaned over to kiss her softly. "Would it be okay if I left for a while and headed to Umgul?" Pulling his head back and looking at Ali with conflicted gaze, he obviously did not want to leave her, ever again. "If you do want to come, you know you can, it's just that I have a lot of explanation to do, not only to you but also to them..." He obviously meant his siblings, who else really? The things he had found out and came to discover, it was something he had to let them know. Also it wasn't just his family it was two other families that were all in Umgul as well.
It was messed up he supposed, but at least he could take comfort in the fact that right now he was happy, Ali had accepted his proposal, but he had no idea how long he still had to be just by her side, hopefully a long time, by the Force, he really hoped that it was for a long, long time...

Ares still looked a little nervous, leaving Ali to wonder what was going on inside that head of his, but she didn't press the issue. He had come back to her and was confiding in her for the first time in a very long time. She wasn't about to stop him if he wanted to talk and get everything out in the open. She smiled when he said that Jena would give him a lecture instead of her and he could live with that.
He had stood up and put his shirt on then informed her that Ryan and Crystal had been trying to reach him during the past year, also. So he hadn't contacted them either, or hadn't gone to see them, as Ali had mistakenly assumed. Apparently when he decided to disappear he did it right and disappeared from everyone and everything. Now it was her turn to look a bit apprehensive as he rested his forehead against hers while wrapping his arms around her. While they stood there holding on to one another, her mind wandered a bit. After he had left, she never thought about contacting Ryan and Crystal because she had thought he'd went back to Umgul. As the days turned into weeks, the weeks into months, then a year, she had thought he had left the planet when he'd disappeared since she hadn't been able to feel the connection they had once shared. He had left Honoghr hadn't he? Or had he blocked their connection not wanting her to feel what he was going through? That had to be it because she could feel the connection again, and had felt it just moments before walking into her office and seeing him there.
She was brought out of her reverie when he asked if it would be okay if he left for a little while to go to Umgul. They pulled back from each other at the same time while he looked down at her with a conflicted gaze. She instinctively knew by the look in his eyes, and before he even said anything, that he wanted to explain to his family, in person, his disappearance. She didn't want him to leave, not when he'd just barely returned, but she also knew that this was something that he needed to do. When he went on to say that if she wanted to go with him then she could, she gave him soft smile as she rested her hands on his chest with her eyes meeting his.
"I would be happy to go to Umgul with you, chéri. I can't let you face the music alone. I didn't think about it then because I was too busy feeling sorry for myself, but I should've contacted Ryan and Crystal when this first happened. Maybe we could've all gotten to the bottom of this, together."
She trailed the fingers of one hand gently over his cheek, all of the emotion she'd kept hidden over the last year showing in her eyes. Going up on tip toes, she gave him a long lingering kiss before pulling away to rest her head against his chest with a small groaning chuckle as she sensed Jena's nearing presence outside the office door. "I swear that woman has the worst timing...."

Ares had that dubious expression on his features when she had been the one who started to look apprehensive. He couldn't really fathom why she would look that way, but maybe it had something to do with his own siblings this time, truth be told, on that proverbial scale, he was certain that he was the one in trouble, not her but just him. Also he wouldn't hesitate to take all of the heat since Ali had no idea anyways. Thus he understood why she seemed to look apprehensive, not that he did not have an inkling about it, but now she was confirming his suspicions and he shook his head with a faint smile.
"Maybe so, but then again I do not expect you to be in trouble with them because of me, as honestly they also could have tried to contact you instead of me continuously." Ares said as a consolation, besides, it would have made sense right? Everyone had a life, Crystal as the CFO for the Mist Government, Ryan, actually his fraternal twin had said that he was on a sabbatical the last time they had talked, mainly due to the fact that Ryan needed to find his footings in Umgul and also just make it work with the AG of the Mist Government too.
Those matters aside, Ares pushed them away and was quite glad to know that Ali would be coming with him to Umgul, now also if only Virgil Solaris showed his face too that would be great! Only not really Ares guessed, but with everything and anything about his family and the other families, he was certain that Virgil had all of the answers. Maybe now he should try to contact his dad and get further explanations about that thing, that curse...
"Just let me know when you actually want to leave, or can leave because I am quite certain you still have some unfinished businesses here." Ares told her meaningfully, unlike him, Ali continued to work here and continued to tend to patients, he completely stopped so he had nothing to oversee here, he factually had no strings attached when it came to work, and as he continued to look at her, he felt that incoming presence when he concentrated enough and let himself be securely in touch with the current of the Force.
"Or, she actually has the perfect timing..." Ares told her after that kiss their both shared, he had an arm around her, while his right hand moved onto her left one to raise her hand at his chest level and he looked at her ring on her finger. Ali was his, like he'd forever be hers no matter what. He leaned over to kiss her fingers and smiled affectionately at her before he gave her one last kiss and pulled away to open the door that led to Ali's office, that way he could face that music to begin with when it came to Jena. "Greetings Jena," Ares told her sincerely and softly as he bowed respectfully in her direction before he stood upright again, thankfully he was correctly dressed although it was noticeable that he had gained some muscles and maybe changed a little more physically more or less at least.

Jena had finished her patient rounds, dropped by the cafeteria for a bite to eat and was now walking down the hallway, past Alisha's office, to her own office. She slowed her pace a bit when she sensed another familiar aura, along with Ali's, nearby. It was then that Ali's office door opened and there stood Ares Solaris in the doorway. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she stopped about two feet from the entrance and looked Ares over momentarily as he spoke, and bowed respectfully, in greeting. There were many things she could say to him, wanted to say to him, for leaving Ali like he did but she refrained. This was not the time, nor the place, for confrontation with him. Besides, she didn't sense any anger or sadness from Ali over Ares' reappearance, so for her daughters sake she could hold her tongue until a more appropriate time.
Returning his bow, she straightened and met his gaze. "Ares....it's good to see you again. It's been a while. You look well." She mentally noted that his physical appearance had changed somewhat. He was a little more muscular, his aura a little brighter, and perhaps a little more confident. Though she wasn't quite sure about the latter, she could very well be reading his body language incorrectly but time would tell about that later.
Looking past him for a moment, she briefly met Ali's gaze with an affectionate smile before noticing the cleared desk and the items scattered on the floor. Folding her arms across her chest, she arched an eyebrow at both of them as she tilted her head slightly. "Spring cleaning, or did you just not like those particular items? Should I come back later when you two are done rearranging the furniture and office supplies?"
It was perfectly clear by their rumpled hair and clothing what had been going on, and Jena couldn't resist the urge to mess with them just a little bit. Especially when she could see the telltale blush rising in Ali's face.

Ali was about to speak when Ares opened the door and greeted Jena. It was then that she remembered the mess on the floor, and their wrinkled clothing, but it was too late to try to do anything about it. She silently hoped Jena would just say her hellos and then leave but that was wishful thinking. When her mother and Ares were done with their pleasantries, she cast a glance at Ali then to the floor. Ali fought the impulse to do a facepalm when Jena questioned the cleared desk and the stuff on the office floor. Feeling the blush rise in her face, Ali couldn't help but chuckle a little as she looked away running a hand through her mussed hair.
"Yes, Mom....we were cleaning. It was just one of those things where we got the urge and decided to go with it."
She knew Jena wasn't stupid and it didn't take a genius to figure out what they had actually been doing in the office. She also knew Jena was toying with them for her own amusement and she was probably doing it to keep from giving Ares a piece of her mind which Ali was actually grateful for. She didn't want to deal with Jena's outspoken ways right now and luckily it seemed like her mother had sensed that fact, or at the very least didn't want to argue, and went with humor instead.
