The Zabrak froze midstep at the voice behind her, terror filling her more then anything else when she was asked what she was doing down here. Slowly, she turned on her heel to face him, her hands once more going behind her back, with one hand encircling the other out of nervousness. A habit that kept her tongue still and fed her energy into something physical as she listened to "Dante" speak to Master Theri about why the two Padawans were down in this part of the Praxeum. She drew her lip into mouth and worried it between her teeth, her eyes downcast. Nel knew she was going to be in so much trouble...

The thick air of the jungle and the equally thick foliage had proven to be a challenge, but Nel managed to keep her new Master in sight and, much to her glee, had managed to keep herself up to pace with him and the other woman they traveled with currently. She stayed back though when they reached the clearing, and as her usual defensive posture, she folded her arms over her chest, her eyes flicking from one figure to the next as she studied them. Her own presence wasn't powerful, nor particularly dark... but she had only started down this path, and it was bound to take time before it infected her presence.
She kept quiet as she eyed all of them, taking in their words and mulling them over. Unless she was spoken to, however, she would hold her tongue, as she had been instructed to do. That part was starting to grate on her, but her mind and body weren't ready to rebel, not after what she had already encountered over the past while. It took all she had to suppress the shudder that threatened to pass through her at her own reminder of what happened, and her fingers, draped over their opposing arm, twitched and squeezed. And still, she kept silent, merely listening. The Zabrak noticed the man's gaze flicking towards her and Stormro, but she tried not to betray any nervousness, especially not in front of this group.

It took a few moments before the woman registered the droid was there, and as she listened, she stood on shaking legs. The Zabrak swallowed past a lump that was lodged in her throat and she nodded in understanding to what the protocol droid had said. Without much hesitation, and still clutching the hilt of the lightsabre to her chest, she followed J20 towards the Temple. Her mouth and tongue were heavy, or else she would have asked questions. The impulse was there, but at the moment, her mind just shook its head at any effort to make a viable thought beyond obediently listening.

My Lord? It wasn't hard for her to miss that slip up by the droid and she looked forward to the man who stood ahead of her. She had stayed back and to the left of the man as they had come off the turbolift onto this floor, and so she looked at his back. Her gaze then turned to Joruun, her expression asking if he had caught it as well. She kept her mouth shut, of course, as requested, and as promised. Needless questions wasted valuable time as Joruun had pointed out, and to garner more of his respect, she followed his lead. Even if it was odd, in this instance, what had just occurred. She cleared her throat after a moment to speak, however. "What can we help with?"
Was this the level they would be helping with? Or even further down? She had no idea, and though unneeded questions would slow them down, some questions were in order, at least. How was she to know what she was to do without asking? She looked to the man called "Dante" and waited his response, though she still glanced to her fellow Padawan. Didn't he find this the least bit strange?

Nel Bukk shook as she found her way to the gardens of the temple, her mind swirling and not quite settling on what had happened. The attack left her feeling raw, and she clung to one of the only pieces left of her life: a lightsaber hilt. Slowly, her feet came to a stop, and she was only vaguely aware of the meditation pool beside her. The adrenaline, which had been fueling her until this point, was all but gone now, and her knees hit the path that encircled the pool. Her knuckles were white around the hilt she held onto, and though her mind was still assembling what happened, she herself was blank. Her mind had shut off, leaving her adrift. She swallowed, hard, her eyes fixing on the aquifer that bubbled and gave life to her surroundings; it was an anchor, something to hold onto while she struggled to get her mind to work again.

The Zabrak opened her mouth to speak, before her brain caught up with her and she shut her mouth again, merely nodding. "Yes Master."
The phrase was still something she was going to have to get used to, and though she was sure her training was going to be coming, she was uneasy around these two people she had only recently met. She didn't know them, and so her instincts had her on alert. Trust, in this instance, she was still holding onto. She worried her lower lip between her teeth and ran her fingers through her black hair, before finally tugging on her small braid behind her ear. Her hands were in constant motion it seemed like, and when she noticed, she tucked her hands behind her back, her right hand encircling her left wrist as she followed after him. She stayed close, while also giving him a proper distance. Her mind still reeled from the events at the Praxeum and she took a deep breath to steady herself, letting it out in a slow drawn out way. She needed to stay calm. Emotions weren't going to help her. If she wanted to keep up, she needed to do as she was told.
And as she drew herself out from her own inward thoughts, she looked around, noticing the thickness of the brush around them, the play of dark and light amongst the branches... The sounds, the feel of the air on her skin. All of it. It was a lot to take in, but she was still going to try her best to pay attention to everything that she could. She only hoped it was good enough.

Nel stood on the turbolift, her arms tucked behind her back, and worry filled her once more as she waited for them to reach their destination in the archives below. Her hand encircled her wrist, and she fidgeted her encircling hand. It was something to do with her hands, something to distract her while she held her tongue. Questions whirled and spun in her mind, and all she did was first look from "Dante" to Joruun. If there was such a threat (and she had no doubts to there being one), why just send one man to collect what he could? As she had agreed, though, she kept her inquiries to herself, before looking forward once more. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, before once more glancing over to the man they were helping. It was more to get a better look at him then anything. It was something to do.
Time was of the essence though, and her anxieties made her heart beat faster then it normally should have. She wanted to be useful, to not be just a failure of a Padawan, and the longer the silence held, the more her thoughts spun and whirled like that, of how her weakness with the Force made her not as capable as her friend beside her. Her teeth gritted together, and she inhaled sharply, trying to calm the anger and frustration that such thoughts brought her. Slowly, she exhaled, letting her wrist go to rest on the hilt of her lightsaber. That. That was a reminder to her. That she could do so much if she put her mind to it. Nothing was impossible, merely difficult to achieve.

As always, her pride reared its head and scoffed at the idea of doing what another said without question, but she quickly beat it back and nodded to the man who had just asked for her obedience. Balking at him at a time like this would not save what the man had come to save, especially after she had already given her promise to assist. Of course he would ask for no questions to be asked of him. He would surely know how to handle such precious cargo without risk of it coming to harm. And yet, there was another part of her, that part that yearned to learn more so she could make use of it, that also perked up at the mention of far more important texts and holocrons far below where she stood. She swallowed some and realized that she had begun to salivate at the idea of so much knowledge she still had yet to get her hands on. How embarrassing. "Of course, Knight Caliber. We will do as you say."

Nervousness began to manifest, and Nel wrung her fingers together to try and offset them as she listened to first "Dante" and then to Joruun as they spoke to one another. At the mention of relocating the information found within the library, however, she tensed at the idea of losing it all. When Joruun looked to her, she nodded firmly in agreement. It would be a shame to lose so much knowledge to the Mandolorians, simply because they wanted to wipe out any with a leaning towards the Force. She swallowed and nodded again, trying to find the right words to use. The need to protect all of this around her bubbled in her chest as she finally answered. "Yes. Let us help, Knight Caliber. Many hands make light work, I believe is how the saying goes. What can we do to assist?"

Nel, too, watched the droids go by, and she drew her lower lip into her mouth, worrying it between her teeth. Something wasn't quite right here, but she couldn't place her finger on it. With her discomfort, she stood up straighter, to look not only taller, but to show she was paying attention. All those books... They didn't belong to just one person, and for a moment, she held her tongue about it, listening instead to Joruun as he asked his question, before she asked her own. "What do you plan on doing with all these books?"
She turned her gaze from the droids and back to "Dante" once more as awaited his answer, returning to worrying her lower lip, even if the rest of her seemed ready to defend herself against this man she didn't know. Her right hand rested on her hip, with her weight resting mostly on her less dominant leg as she watched him.

Her scowl deepened for a moment as she listened, her thoughts racing and pondering what she could do differently to ensure success. Internally, though, she perked up at his offer of the two of them going and possibly getting food. That, on top of his hand resting on hers in assurance, led her cheeks to color, and her aggravation bled away, replaced by her own glee at his attention. She admired his strength and capabilities with the Force. That, and his kindness had won her over to some degree. He didn't boast, nor did he flaunt his abilities.
She had opened her mouth to agree, but then her attention was also drawn to the front of the Library. Her free hand ran through her hair, trying to tame it while she avoided her horns. A difficult balance, that, but she managed. She drew her lip into her mouth, chewing it a moment as she listened to the man "Dante" yell at those that stood guard. What the...? She looked up to her long time friend, then back to the door.
"Seems interesting enough." A slow smirk spread over her lips, the tension easing from her at the idea of doing something she was sure she could do well.

The disconnection left her blinking, and she bit her lip nervously. Could she do it? Pride wouldn't let her say otherwise, and so, the female concentrated, trying to feel for that which she struggled most with: the Force. A trickle of it she could feel in her system as she tried and tried to make that connection. Tried to initiate that which Joruun had done with ease. Such frustrating ease. The tenuous connection formed between herself and him mentally, but then... Like a rubber band improperly positioned to send flying, it slammed back at her as the connection broke. Nel winced slightly, rubbing once more at the bridge of her nose as she tried to soothe away the tension there. "Kriff."
Where had she gone wrong? She had done as the books said, and when it came to talking with others, she had proven she could do that. Not as confidently as others, granted, but she had succeeded in that. When it came to the forming the connection itself, it recoiled on her. Her brows furrowed as her fingers stilled, her mind racing with what could have gone wrong and what she could do to fix it. More data to go over, more reading to be done. Her stomach twisted in on itself in anxiety and anger at her once more failure. "Kriff..."

The woman's eyes met his, and once more, she lifted her eyebrow ridge. Facial hair was not very common on Zabrak, and that included eyebrows. Vanity had never been a strong point for her, and so she never bothered to draw them in on her person. Saying the words out loud defeated the purpose of Telepathy, didn't it? Either way, she had nothing else to go on. What could it hurt? Slowly, she focused on that connection again. Thank the Force Joruun was here to help her out, even if he was by far the most able of other students she had encountered. That was her opinion though. Her lips began to move as she tried to strengthen her connection, her voice within her own mind and his.
"What about... now?" It was stronger then before, but not quite as clear as his own voice in her own mind. She smiled at her own progress.

The woman met his gaze, and then, as she concentrated, her eyes lost some of their focus as she sensed for that connection. It didn't take her long to find it, and she was quick to tap into it. Despite all her shortcomings (real or perceived), she was quick. For a long moment, the Zabrak studied the link, the connection between them; even now, she marveled at the power of the Force. Her foot fidgeted against the side of the chair, before she anchored herself by wrapping her leg around the chair's own leg. Slowly, she reached out, trying to form words, or images. Something.
"How... is this...?"
It was weak, almost akin to a far off shout, but the message had been clear enough when her eyes focused again. She had the connection. She had the knowledge, but did she have the ability to use it successfully? Well, as weak as it was, she just proved to herself that yes, yes she did have the capability to do it. Like everything else, though, Nel needed practice. Studying this and that could only get her so far. This experience helped. Her smile widened more as she realized her success, and her eyes sparkled.

Warily, Nel glanced at the Miraluka at his offer, and there would be a distinct impression of her lifting her eyebrow at him. She was considering it. Having a partner would be useful in practicing, as Telepathy was a two person act, yes. However, she also knew that Joruun was an excellent student, with a great amount of skill at what she could only dream of doing. He could easily show her up (which wasn't that uncommon), but she trusted him not to gloat about it. Still, something nagged at her about the situation, and to give herself more time to think, she looked back at the page. Refusal would be rude, and her determination gnawed at her to try and master this. Finally, she nodded to him. "May as well try it, Joruun."
She turned to him in her seat, a grin slowly spreading over her pale features as she did so. "Where do we start?"

The Zabrak looked up and over towards the sound of feet approaching, and nodded her acknowledgement to her long time friend. Of course, after the motion, she realized her error, but she said nothing about it, simply listening as he spoke. Her shoulders lifted and lowered in a shrug before she finally spoke. "It's the same issues as I always have, it seems. I have read this book more than a dozen times and though the wisdom is the same, my mind is not every time."
She paused as the words settled in, and she swallowed to stifle the fluttering in her stomach as she once more glanced to him. The man had always been kind to her, and his kindness softened the edges of her anger and frustration. Compassion. An interesting concept when one thought about it, but it was still a concept that she much appreciated. "I am trying to figure out where I am going wrong with this one single technique I have always had problems with. The telepathy that those stronger in the Force have no problem doing." An edge of bitterness entered her tone, no matter how hard she tried to hide it from the other present.

Nel leaned back in her seat, rubbing the bridge of her nose with one hand as she closed her eyes. A book lay in front of her on the table as she draped an arm across her middle. She had gone over this book multiple times over the time she had been here at the Praxeum, and it was honestly a favorite of hers; though, the day's events had the adolescent frustrated and wondering where she was once more going wrong with her studies. Blue eyes opened as she once more leaned forward, the hand that had massaged the tension from her head resting beside the page as she resumed her reading. The Zabrak was tired - that much was obvious in the sag of her shoulders. The simple hilt of a lightsaber hung at her hip on the left side, and as she read, her lips moved as she read over the passage she had read over so many times before.
Discipline. Self-control. These were the keys... A surge of frustration climbed its way from her belly, and a snarl marked her face before she slammed the book shut with more force then she had intended. She winced, warily casting a look around for anyone that might have heard. Nel sighed when she didn't immediately see anyone, resting her head on the cool material of the table she sat at. Where was she going wrong?
